Joel Miller: Mint
Pairing: Joel Miller x fem!reader (afab; she/her)
Excerpt: Your joy was forever gone, your clothes, your warmth against him as he slept, the voice that sucked him in as soon as he saw you in that fucking dive--
Suddenly, his mouth was pressed against something warm, and soft, and minty, and real.
“Joel,” you whispered into his mouth before kissing him again, and again, and again. Your warm, perfect hands framed his face as you did, but he wasn’t strong enough to meet your face with his own. “Come back to me. Come on baby, talk to me.”
You weren’t gone. You were right here, warm-blooded, healthy, and his.
Warnings: Major death talk, a woman gets torn apart by clickers, Joel has a panic attack, kissing, slight allusion to sex at the end, this is pretty self-indulgent.
A/N: So, Episode 3, am I right?

Joel Miller had done worse things than drag a screaming man by his pantleg back into Jackson, but he would soon discover he had few things quite as haunting.
The man wiggled in his grip--screaming and digging his nails and mouth into the muddy, icy gravel--as Joel made his way back into the small town.
“Take me back,” the man howled, throat clogged with flem and grief, “take me back to her. I can’t leave her.”
Joel kept on hauling.
“Joel,” the man was weeping now, sobbing through his beard. “Take me back to my wife. Please, my wife Joel, my wife.”
The man knew what he was doing, using that word.
That word.
That word cut through Joel like a hot knife, gliding along the insides of his belly and up his throat. Tha man’s wife was long gone, likely torn to pieces by the infected that had nearly gotten the man in Joel’s own hand, but Joel didn’t let him go. He didn’t let him jump down there with her.
Why didn’t he?
The man was silent for a few moments, his sobs the only proof he hadn’t slit his own throat, before his weeps became the sobs of grief that Joel was all too familiar with. The sobs that indicated yes, that did just happen, and I have no idea what the fuck to do from here.
“Please let me go,” the man finally whispered, and Joel dropped his leather-covered foot without hesitation. They had made it to the center of Jackson by that point--meaning a sizeable crowd was beginning to form around them, which Joel absolutely loved--and with one final look back at the defeated and lost man, Joel kept his march forward.
Forward to you.
It was barely noon--Joel was always better at the morning watch shifts than you--which meant you had to have been freshly showered and making yourself a late breakfast. Whenever you took shifts at night you always took the liberty to sleep in plenty in the morning, which gave Joel the opportunity to admire the woman who had him wrapped around her finger--literally and metaphorically. He could still taste the mint of your prized chapstick on his lips. You had kissed him particularly hard that morning, hard enough for him to fidget with his matching band more than usual. The weight of it was there when he left you, when the woman fell, and when the man jumped for her.
Estelle was her name, a beautiful name for a very not-beautiful time, yet a beautiful soul. Her screams pierced the air as soon as she slipped, silenced when she hit the ground, and ignited again as she was torn into.
Joel being the survivor he was acted on instinct alone when it happened, catching the man from the air as he jumped to join her in her fate, and proceeded to tow the decaying, lamented man back home.
The fear in Estelle’s eyes before her feet went out from under her, the rawness of her screams, and the acceptance of her final whimpers didn’t become yours in his brain until right then, his steps towards his home. The man’s cries to join her didn’t become his own until he had to close his eyes at the view of you in the window of your wooden home, taking a mammoth-sized book off of the shelves he had crafted for you.
“Joel,” you had said in reaction. “It’s just...it’s just a random Tuesday.”
He made his way over to you, wrapping you in his arms. “I know.”
He entered your shared home, stomping the snow off his boots on the welcome mat to let you know it was him as always, and breathed in the perfect scent that was your fresh-brewed coffee.
When had he started crying?
“Joel,” you said, still facing away from him and towards your shelf, “you’re early. Very early. I’m guessing things either went really well, or really--”
You cut yourself off when you turned to him, likely noticing the single stream of a tear etching its way down his left cheek, and his breath escaped from him at the sight of you. Your form shaped by your favorite pair of jeans, hair laid just how you liked it, and your favorite shirt fresh from the washer. His favorite vision of you, the happy one. The comfortable one. The “I’m-in-love-and-clean-and-fed-in-a-world-where-I-should-be-neither” look. The truest form of his wife.
His wife.
Take me back to my wife. Please, my wife Joel, my wife.
He couldn’t feel his legs.
“Joel,” he heard you say from somewhere far away. Surely that wasn’t you in front of him, guiding him to his feet, leading him to the sofa, squatting to your knees to look into his eyes, breathing into his face that perfect hint of mint. You were torn, fractured, snapped, shredded, devoured at the bottom of that fucking ledge. He was laying in the middle of the square, waiting for his organs to shut down from the cold. Waiting to join you.
He could see it so clearly--he wasn’t fast enough, smart enough, good enough. One more person he failed, one more gaping hole in his chest with no bullet to match. Except this time, you weren’t just another person, you were his everything. Everything. He shouldn’t have let himself fall. He never thought he’d have a wife, and maybe he was never supposed to.
Your joy was forever gone, your clothes, your warmth against him as he slept, the voice that sucked him in as soon as he saw you in that fucking dive--
Suddenly, his mouth was pressed against something warm, and soft, and minty, and real.
He exhaled a puff of relief, like reality did its best to punch him in the stomach so hard he couldn’t even respond, before saying, “I would bet on really bad.”
You laughed joyously before wrapping your arms around him so hard the breath he had just gathered escaped him once more, and more tears spilled from his eyes when he tucked his face into your neck. He must have been leaking them the entire time.
You held him closely, intimately. It was a hug only lovers could mold themselves into. You exhaled in relief before suddenly pulling away and shoving him so hard he fell against the back of the couch.
“Darlin’, what--”
“What the hell was that, Joel Miller,” you yelled. “You come home hours earlier than you’re supposed to, stare at me like I’m a fucking ghost, and collapse! I thought you were having a goddamn stroke or something, Christ.”
“Y/N, I--”
“You better fuckin’ explain,” you state sternly, “and quickly because Jesus Christ.”
He just stared at you, at that passion that always simmered underneath you finally boiling over, before smiling bigger than he had all day.
You scoffed before squatting down to meet his eyes straight on once more. “Explain. Now.”
He leaned forward, finally tracing the face he knew better than any other with hands rougher than it ever deserved, and spoke. Your eyes softened as he talked, tracing his features as they did, and your soft, lovely fingertips kept his eyes looking into yours the entire time.
“Once I came in here, I--” he began, clearing his throat as the emotion and panic struggled from the restraint he had planted on them, “--I only saw you falling, and me being dragged here. I realized how imminent that is. I could taste it.”
You swallowed, your own eyes beginning to mist, and brought your forehead to his.
“I’ve lost people,” he whispered, “so many people, and I’ve gotten back up. If I lose you, I...I won’t be able to. I’m going to go down, and I’m going to stay there. I can’t live in this world without you in it, Y/N.”
You swallowed harshly as tears escaped your own eyes. Your hands remained framing his face, rubbing his jaw and cheekbones with your fingertips, before you pressed your lips to his once more. It was that combination of the warmth and wet of your lips, the taste of your minty breath mixed with the unique taste of you, as well as the breaths from your nose that proved to him yes, you were here, you were real.
“My Joel,” you whispered against his lips, “you haven’t lost me. I’m right here.”
You bring his right palm to your left breast, right above your heartbeat, where he both heard and felt that familiar tha-thump tha-thump tha-thump.
“I’m right here.”
His misted eyes met your own, full of nothing but complete raw adoration, before you stood and tucked his face into your stomach, letting him fall apart.
He fell apart in your arms, weeping while clutched to your clothing, and once he was done, you covered his mouth with your lips, and put all the pieces of your husband back together.

just had this idea and couldnt not share it:
Going to the studio one day w/ Matty and seeing them work so passionately and excitedly. Maybe your eyes drift to Matty’s hands as he is speaking or touching dials on the sound board. Your mind starts racing and suddenly you need him now. You try to get his attention and he keeps brushing you off saying he has to finish the part he thought of until in front of everyone he hears a firm “Matthew Healy.” With that, he knows what’s happening and he makes everyone take lunch. You can come up with the rest, whether he is dom/sub and just exactly HOW you need him.
idk thought this could be a fun little thing to write :)
OKAY BUT PLEASE THIS PLAYS RIGHT INTO MY FANTASY!!! Cuz have y’all heard those two “Tape Notes” episodes?! NOTHING is hotter to me than when Matty talks about how some songs were made. And like, I only play guitar, so I don’t really know that much technical stuff about music production but it’s still SUCH A turn on. Just how much he loves his job and how if the drums are even a notch too loud/ too low, he hates it. AND if the guitar is “too perfect” he won’t let it go. It has to sound a little bit warped. His whole “faded splendor” bit that he loves to bring up in every interview. Ugh. So. Fucking. Sexy. So, yeah, I’d imagine if he ever brings his partner around the studio, it would be….a lot.
Like imagine watching him sit there, between the mixing board on one side, and the big computer on the other. And he’s just in his chair, wheeling back and forth between the two, testing out different variations, asking George why it’s not quite right yet.
George is just like “okay, how about we loop the drum track so it keeps playing throughout the song.”
But Matty immediately scuffs, hating the idea. “That’s just lazy musicianship. If the emotion shifts and the words change, the melody has got to change with it. Don’t go with the easy option.”
George is frustrated. “I wasn’t bein’ lazy; I was keeping literally the one thing you said you liked about the arrangement. The fuckin drums.”
Matty frowns, deep in thought, picking at his lower lip, a subconscious habit he doesn’t realize he’s doing half the time. “Nah, there’s something else we haven’t thought of. Let me hear it again?” And he puts the headset on, but only one ear, so he could leave the other ear available to George as they talk through it.
“Don’t like it. Nope. It just sounds too put together. I hate that.”
“I know. I get that. I just don’t know what would make it less crisp without- like getting in the way of the song.”
At this point, she’s melting, obviously. She’s way past listening to their actual conversation, and is just watching Matty’s fingers push the buttons on the mixing board, wishing that the machine were her body instead. Memorizing the way his fingers slide the dial from one side to the other to create that distorted effect that he wants, and imaging instead that he is sliding his finger down her body, anticipating him touching her core. She shudders slightly, reminding herself that there’s people around.
She decides he needs to be as worked up as she is. So she walks over to him, hugging him from the back of the chair, sliding her hands down his chest and kissing his earlobe seductively whispering something about taking a quick break to “refresh” his mind and body. He’s too in the zone to catch onto her innuendo, though, so he shrugs her off, mumbling something about how taking a break and interrupting the process would be the absolute worst thing he could right now. He’s just on the cusp of a break through, he can FEEL it. He just needs to put things together the right way.
His absent-mindedness is weirdly even more attractive to her. The fact that his mind could be so absorbed in something that he loses his sense of his surroundings makes her heart swell and the rest of her body get turned on. Maybe it’s the joy written all over his face when he’s engaged in something that he so clearly loves, maybe it’s the way he completely opens up when working, whatever it is, it’s HOT as fuck and it makes her want him more.
She keeps trying. She scoots her seat next to his, brushing her arm against his as he squints into the screen, fiddling with the production software, having taken over from George. She brushes his curls out of his eyes so “he can see better.” But nothing is working. So, finally, he’s out of subtle tricks. She has to resort to blunt honesty. She takes a deep breath, standing up with a hand on her hip and yelling out “Matthew Timothy Healy! What on earth is wrong with you? I’m trying to fuck you over here!”
Matty finally looks up, taking the headset off his ears and holding in a giggle. He looks at her, winks, and turns to the guys. “George…you guys are….hungry right now, yeah?”
George takes the hint and rounds everyone up and they all leave. The door is barely closed behind them before Matty springs to action, hoisting her up by the waist, and setting her onto the desk. Apparently, her willingness to announce to the world that she wants him to rail her to death is as attractive to Matty as his passion is to her. So he gets right to it, knowing that she’s been ready and desperate for a minute now.
His hands are shoddy, just grabbing and squeezing wherever they land, kisses whiny, swallowing each others high-pitched moans. He alternated between kissing and biting down her body, to keep her on her toes. Just when she thinks she’s got his pattern down, he changes things up. He all but tears her shirt apart, taking her nipple into his mouth, sucking, causing her to cry out. His hand is on the other breast, squeezing, pinching, scratching. Her brain goes into overdrive r from the mixture of sensations. Some soft, some rough, some tingle, some hurt. She can’t keep up, and when he’s ready to make her cum, he pushes her to lay down on the table. She mumbles something about laying on top of his expensive equipment and he says he doesn’t care.
“You don’t; but George might.”
“Oh, whatever. That mixing board is mine anyway.”
When he pushes her arms above her head to hold her wrists in place as he fucked into her, one of her fingers accidentally turns the recording button on. Matty’s too caught up in making absolutely sure he makes it hard for her to stand after this, to notice what’s happened. So as she whines, begs, and chants his name, the computer is getting it alllllll on record. When they’re eventually done, and Matty is kissing all the spots on her body where he might have left bruises, he notices the green light is on, which indicates recording. He laughs, and goes to the computer to click “play” on the file.
She’s stunned in place. Her hand goes to cover her mouth. Her face is turning every shade of every color in embarrassment, but Matty is absolutely loving it. He clicks “save.” And she squeals and yelps and kicks her feet and wants to kill him.
But he’s all like “well, listen, this might just be the missing ingredient that we’ve needed all day.”
Yeah….I think about studio Matty a lot.

bad buddy fandom getting-to-know-you meme!
Thanks for the tag @fiercynn !! This is a really lovely idea :)
note: i consider "fanworks" to pretty much everything people create related to a fandom, including but not limited to meta/analysis/discussion, gifs, fanvids/edits/fancams, filk, fanart, fanfic, fan food, fan crafts, etc. please include this note with the meme unless you have a different definition!
name and whatever you want to share about yourself hi i'm mars, i use she/her pronouns, i live in australia and i've been into thai/asian bl for a little over a year now. i mostly just lurk and mass rb on tumblr lol, but i'd definitely like to get to know more people !!
when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom? I was actually trying to track down the exact date recently (i failed), but i watched it for the first time around mid-september 2022, ended up binging it in a day and been a part of the fandom since
favorite ship(s) patpran <3
favorite character(s) pat !! he's one of my favourite characters from any media ever. I just love how selfless he is and how he transforms through the show, and how bright he is but knows when to stand his ground. i could wax poetics about him fr <3
favorite episode(s) Whenever i watch/rewatch bad buddy i tend to binge it so i can never distinguish betweens episodes lol. In general, ep 12 is definitely one of my favs because i feel like it ties things up nicely and i like seeing them happy :) i can probably give a better answer for favourite scene...
favorite scene(s) ...which is why it's great that this is the next question!
In no particular order: the staircase proposal scene, the bus stop roleplaying scene, the post-curtain bench hand holding scene (specifically that one face pat/ohm makes which imo is the single most most heartbreaking frame in the entire show), the ep 12 post-credits scene (wait was it actually post-credits, i don't remember ajksdjf), the screaming on the rocks at the zero-waste village scene, and the rooftop kiss (ofc)
Basically i just like to see them happy (most of the time) :)
one thing you would change about the show if you could the whole making-it-up-to-wai arc was not it for me. WHY was pran the one apologising and going after him??? still makes me mad to this day, but i think i'd have a lot more animosity towards wai if ep 12 didn't exist (also all the wai redemption arcs in fanfics have made me warm up to him :P)
what are your some of your favorite fanworks made by other people? ahhh so many!! joy of stanning a show that's finished is that it stays going through fanworks, but also now there's too many that i absolutely adore to remember in the moment, sp here's some:
we both know you're my only dream (fic) by @fiercynn: one of my favourite fics ever that i constantly go back and reread whenever i'm having a bad day (or not)
yield strength (fic) by @dulosis: the physics analogies do something to my brain /pos
10 things i hate about you (fic) by @nobodynobodyno: this one's so cute and i reread it all the time
this fmv to tujh mein rab dikhta hai by @transpat: desi moots, iykyk. but fr this holds such a special place in my heart, the lyrics are so patpran and the editing and clip choice is just *chef's kiss*
this fmv to dandelions: IT'S SO GOOD. all the parallels, the dialogue overlaying is just perfect, and the TRANSITIONS (the one at 1:28 especially)
every single one of @hereforlou's art: i'm literally obsessed, i don't always see everything on my dash so i'll literally check their tumblr every couple days. is this stalker behaviour? possibly, but if you've seen their art i think you'd understand.
Also special mention to this one gifset of the staircase proposal scene which was my first ever exposure to bad buddy, it made me watch the show to begin with, but i didn't rb it when i first saw it so now it's lost to the times 😭😭
I have an insane amount of fanfic i wanted to put here but for the sake of length of this post, i restrained myself ajskdjf
(if you create fanworks) what are your favorite fanworks that you’ve made? i do not (yet 👀)
a song that makes you think of bbs (the ones in the show don’t count lol) pretty much every fmv/edit that i've rewatched a couple times set to a song will make me thing of bbs lol, so some are tujh mein rab dikhta hai and dandelions from above, emily by Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler because of this amazing fic, and gorgeous by Taylor Swift because of this gorgeous edit (y'all please go watch it it's amazing).
idk anything else you want us to know? It's the perfect timing for this because these are my nails right now ):)
Tumblr media
honestly not super sure who of my mutuals are bbs moots so i'm just gonna tag some people, feel free to ignore this if you've already been tagged/don't want to do it! :)
@nobodynobodyno @dropthedemiurge @justafriend-ql @cornflowershade @hometothecanyonmoon @7nessasaryevils
If you see this and you want to do it, this is is me tagging you as well !!

The 90s X-Men cartoon was the beginning of my journey into fandoms. While I can point to earlier fandoms I was into as a child, I did not fully understand what that meant: what kind of rabbit holes I could dive into and communities I could be a part of until X-Men. It laid the foundation. So when I found out that they were going to do a continuation on the show, it may surprise you to know that I thought it was a bad idea.
At the time, the show was truly groundbreaking, with its continuing story that built over time and its focus on the characters’ interpersonal relationship. However, while I still enjoy watching it for nostalgia sake, I find its telenovela style very dated. The narrative often holds up, but the delivery does not.
I suspected this new season was going to give us some better animation and action sequences, but, being forced to keep within the style of its predecessor, wasn’t really going to work. It would be fun for nostalgia’s sake and some action-packed scenes, but nothing more.
And after watching the first episode, I felt it was exactly what I expected it would be. A lot of style, little substance. A lot of nostalgia, little new to build on. Many a ‘we did the thing you remember’ and ‘we said the line from the show.’ It was fine, but it didn’t particularly excite me.
That said, the second episode is absolute fire and left me yearning for more. Despite the melodrama, it somehow still worked for reasons I can’t quite explain. I would like to try my best to articulate what worked for me, what didn’t, and what I would like to see in the future.
Lots of spoilers ahead.
Positives:
- Getting to view the power levels of these characters as they were meant to be again has been such a treat. Live action can be held back in so many ways, be it time, money, or striving for something with more realism. But I prefer seeing the possibilities that often only animation can give us. Cyclops and Storm’s power sets both really stood out in these two episodes and it was a joy to behold.
- The action in general is much better obviously with the improvements we’ve seen in animation and the amount of backing this show has received.
- Jubilee’s dance sequence was oh so pretty.
- The look on Logan’s face when Jean went into labor was priceless.
- Storm, my queen, has gotten to shine in ways she hasn’t in the mainstream in years. In decades! And I’m not just referring to the ‘give them the forecast’ scene (which was epic), but every single scene she occupied. They showed her at her fiercest and her most vulnerable. They showed Storm the warrior and Storm the friend. “Do not think. Be silent, heed my commands and you shall survive.” - Yes queen. Whatever you say queen.
- Magneto! I love everything about every scene he is in. Yes, even those scenes. Especially those scenes, you cowards! (We’ll touch on that later. Pun intended.) I love how he’s striving to honor Xavier’s wishes while still clearly not being onboard and not even trying to hide it. He’s making the attempt, but not willing to let another man’s ideals compromise him as made poignant by the “Do not make me let you down” line, while he’s literally dangling his judges in the air. Perfection! Yes, this may all go sideways, but it will be on them if it does. Not him. He’s the most dangerous man in any room and not afraid to let you know it, even when he’s playing nice.
- The Rogue/Gambit/Magneto love triangle got me feeling feels! I saw a hint of something when Rogue defended Magneto’s presence to the chagrin of Gambit, but never thought they’d go as far with it as they did, especially in one episode. To everyone upset, I see you. I hear you. It’s going to be okay. We all know Rogue and Gambit are endgame. Calm down. Rogue doesn’t owe Remy anything (and vice versa). They are obviously very attracted to each other, but the relationship has purposefully been kept surface level by her. Rogue has set a precedent that she enjoys the flirtation, but has a history of shutting him down beyond that, so he’s kept to those rules. She does it to protect them both, not just physically, but emotionally. Then she gets the joy of helping her friend give birth to a child she’ll never conceive with a husband she believes she’ll never have…but back home there’s a man she has a history with. A man she respects. A man with charisma and charm. And it just so happens to literally be the only person she can touch. I do not blame the woman and neither should you. And Xmen has always been about the drama. Everyday, every way, all the time drama. If you don’t want drama, you’re watching the wrong show.
- Xmen has always been woke as hell. It’s kind of their whole deal. But it’s ever so nice that they don’t have to put on kid gloves while making their points anymore. To be fair, it was very progressive at the time, as much as it could have been. But I appreciate that they’ve upped the ante even more.
Negatives:
- Continuity is huge in this show, and since they insisted on continuing where it left off, you have to heed to that continuity. That means I shouldn’t see Angel in any pictures of the original Xmen (in this iteration), but that's a minor example compared to completely subverting the final episode. Xavier did not die and, while I might understand everyone acting as though he has in public for a variety of reasons, they continue to do so in private, which makes no sense. Additionally, Magneto was handed over the reins in the finale, so no one should be shocked that he’s there. Narratively it’s more dramatic, sure, but it’s not accurate for a show that has historically strived to keep continuity.
- The animation is better obviously, but not as good as it could be… Something looks off in a way that I can’t put my finger on, but I suspect that it has something to do with getting too modern with it would be too jarring from the original series.
- Cyclops fretting about leaving after losing Xavier makes sense. His uncertainty about who will lead in his absence does not. Storm is right there. She’s right there and the groundwork has been put in place for her to take on the role of leadership since season one. Instead, imagine the impact of Cyclops agreeing it was time to step back only for Storm to have been stripped of her powers and walk away, making him second guess whether he should stay.
- Look. I’m not sure why I have to say this, but even back in the 90s, a grown man going ‘NOT!’ was cringe as hell. It’s even more so now. Of all the callbacks, why that one? Bad joke then and bad joke now.
- I love that Magneto does something pragmatic for the Morlocks. His comments to the Xmen in regards to it would have been more than justified if not for the fact that they had been offered sanctuary at the mansion and declined it. Someone in the room should have brought that up.
- I respect Magneto handing himself over to authorities in a ‘I’ll play along’ sort of way. We all know if things didn’t go his way, he would have just turned the tables on them. To that end…I find it very hard to swallow that he’d voluntarily let them collar him. ‘Yes, yes, you may walk me around in your silly little handcuffs. I’ll play along. But I’ll be damned if I let you neuter me.’
- Granted this next one is a nit-pick, but…why didn’t they wait for Storm to get the mohawk until after she lost her powers? She first got the look after she’d been depowered in the comics as part of her learning to cope with the change. It gave her some feeling of control over something when she felt like she didn’t have control over anything. She lost her abilities in the second episode, so it’s not like they would have had to wait long. It’s a great look, don’t get me wrong, just feels like it could have added to the narrative more if they waited. (Update: I was incorrect about the order of events in the comics as pointed out in the replies. It’s a lot of lore to keep up with. Probably projected this narrative into my memory as a youngster. Apologies.)
What I’d like to see:
There’s one thing in particular that’s bugging me. I could probably write a book about why Wolverine is so beloved and, honestly, one of my favorite fictional characters. The 90s cartoon introduced me to him, but there was so much to explore beyond that. He’s one of the best studies in character development that I’ve ever had the pleasure to immerse myself in. This comes from having one person in control of your narrative for seventeen years, a luxury rarely found in the medium of comic books, but one he was fortunate enough to receive. We learn why he’s so guarded and little by little see his defenses being chipped away. Oh, maybe some of these people are okay. Oh, maybe I can call them friends. Oh, maybe they’re strong enough to protect themselves and I won’t lose this bunch like I’ve lost everything else. Oh, maybe I can call them family. Oh, maybe I’m good for something other than violence. Oh, maybe I can nurture this person. Oh, maybe I can help guide this man’s vision that I believe in so much because finally someone saw that I could be more. Oh, maybe I can be the one that carries on his mantle and passes his vision on to the next generation.
He is the best there is at what he does and, despite what he may believe, sometimes what he does is so goddamn beautiful.
I’m ready to see that Wolverine. I’m ready for the Wolverine in this show to grow up. I’m ready for him to get over the most boring woman in the room. Again, Storm’s right there! Or someone else. Or no one else. I honestly don’t care. Grow up. Stop constantly moping. Become more. It’s time. He deserves it. We deserve it. Give it to me. I want it.

The Eighth Sense Ep 9 & 10
Ending the series on ep 9 would be the best solution for me. Because the finale was... weird. And as far as I’m concerned, completely detached in terms of plot, vibe and treatment of characters and their problems from the previous 9 episodes.
I really enjoyed episode 9. That JiHyun was starting to waver if he was doing the right thing by pursuing JaeWon, how he thinks and worries about him. His discussion with his friends was GREAT, they were all so sensitive and thoughtful. AeRi and JoonPyo sensibly stating that they need to think about what is going on in JaeWon's life, that there must be something more behind his behavior. Both helping JiHyun until the end of the series was so cool, they really are like a royal council lol, giving good advice and supporting JiHyun 💖 I also liked what the therapist said about how JaeWon thinking about protecting JuHyun, could actually hurt him. (serious Utsukushii Kare flashbacks) Another great scene is at the surf club. JaWon rejecting the touch. JiHyun who doesn't give up. JaeWon who crumbles. And also YoonWon's breakdown. I think JaeWon's "awakening" started when he notices that his only good friend is suffering, when he starts comforting her, when he realizes that there is someone else, someone close to him, who is also suffering and JaeWon MUST comfort her. And to do that, he has to put her suffering over his. Another great scene is in the library where JaeWon and EunJi behave perfectly in their characters. EunJi playing down her cheating and blaming everything on JaeWon. JaeWon apologizing.  And the end of the ep: JaeWon's thoughts and reminiscing, the song, visiting places with memories of JiHyun, GOING TO JIHYUN, JiHyun's joy, the passionate kiss... 10/10
And this is where the series should end, at least for me.
Because episode 10 was so different for me from the others, so unrealistically positive that (especially after the episode with a trip to the beach) I watched it tensed up, just waiting for the tragedy. I respected the show so far, because of how realistic it felt, everything JaeWon did was perfect for me because it was real. His behavior in the finale was baffling for me, JaeWon came out of a 10-year depression with the power of a spoon and love, like....????? JaeWon was overconfident, about everything, including being JiHyun's boyfriend. Too enthusiastic, too healthy and stable for someone with an old and quite recent trauma, who literally ran away from his problems with JiHyun 3 episodes ago. I AM ABSOLUTELY ALL FOR JAEWON TO BE HEALTHY AND HAPPY AND IN LOVE, but I want to see his way to get there! A show that sensitively treated people with depression suddenly decided that all you had to do was find your local Yoda who tells you to "get your shit together" and "life is short" and bam! Suddenly everything is going well! No one expected that healing from depression was so easy! I understand JaeWon and his going to JiHyun's work place. The weird thing was that he stayed there even though JiHyun wasn't there, but there was a woman talking about how handsome he was, which always annoys him when other people do that. I don't understand the scenes with TaeHyung, who is the most ordinary d*ck, I don't understand JaeWon, who supposedly is going to focus only on selected -good - people around him, and who suddenly tolerates bully because "he’s so honest and doesn't wear a mask". wtf?? He doesn't wear it because he doesn't care who he hurts and from the beginning of the series TaeHyung is ONLY a hateful, jealous bully, nothing more, what is the value of such friendship???🤷‍♀️ I don't understand the scenes with EunJi suddenly promoted to the role of a respectable, smiling senior giving good advice. 🤷‍♀️ I don't understand the idea of the bullies and their victims dancing together happily. EunJi was literally figting with AeRi and BitNa, making them cry, behaved vulgarly towards JiHyun including manipulation, kissing JaeWon in front of JiHyun just to WIN; TaHyung was desperate to punish JaeWon and now they’re all jumping on the dance floor and all is good????? naaaaaaaaah
tl:dr, the cure for depression and trauma is, "but have you tried NOT to be depressed and traumatized?" also "get yourself a lover". And the story ends well only when everyone is happy, including bullies, who need to be forgiven and reconciled with, because, well, clearly they have received too little from their victims so far.
I’m very happy that JaeWon and JiHyun are happy, in love and alive. But I'd rather see the time spent at the party, making peace with the bullies, be spent on JaeWon and his struggles with self-acceptance, initial relationship problems that were bound to come up, etc. I wish I could see JaeWon still not trusting his new life with his boyfriend and panicking from time to time if JiHyun is ok. I can't believe that everything is so simple and easy, because if it was, then what were those 9 episodes for?
For me, JaeWon is too complex a character to end his story in such a banal and simple way. He is a deeply tragic character... who simply, effortlessly dealt with all his problems, all in one evening 😃

8 shows to get to know me
thanks for the tag @jwilliambyers !! <3 sorry it took a little while for me to reply heheh but now that i’m back from my tumblr break let me answer!!
1) supernatural. i feel like this one is pretty obvious LOL this show…….. permanently changed my brain chemistry- for better or for worse who can truly tell,,, but seriously, i had SUCH an attachment to this show as a 13/14/15 year old and at the time it was like,, the only important thing in my life lmao. it was the best show in the world and i lived and breathed spn for many of my teenage years…. and even though now i do recognize that it’s not the best i still love rewatching spn, it brings me a sort of comfort that’s hard to explain! and when i was struggling with things as a young teenager, spn was what i always turned to to make me feel better :’) plus,,, it was my introduction to tumblr fandoms lmao so. you’ve all got spn to thank for this account i guess!!!
2) derry girls. i finally watched this show a few weeks ago and i binged it all in just a few days because everything about it was AMAZING!!! i loved all the characters so much and i loved how this show really embraced its silliness. i feel like we don’t have enough “silly” shows and derry girls is just the perfect example of an amazing silly show!!! i highly recommend it to everyone!!
3) how to get away with murder. this show was SO GOOD and so so intense,, like i was stressed out every single episode lmao. but in a good way! i loved all (well, most) of the characters and this show does such a good job of getting you very attached to certain characters……. and then breaking your heart bc of them :’) the amount of times i cried aahh!!! also, all the plot twists are super well done in my opinion!! such an insane show i was literally watching like 😨😨😨 90% of the time lmao. also, queer rep!!!!
4) gilmore girls. okay. i am both a gilmore girls lover AND a gilmore girls hater. there are certain parts of this show that i absolutely adore and that make it such a comfort show for me, but other parts (and characters…) that annoyed me so much that it actually made me stop watching the show for the while lmao. but overall i do really like gilmore girls, it’s both a comfort show and a hatewatching show to me hehehe. the vibes of season 1 in stars hollow is unmatched though!!!
5) great pretender. i think great pretender is probably my favourite anime! i love a good found family heist story so this really just hit all the marks for me hehehe and in case you couldn’t tell,,, im a very character-driven person with my media, so if there are good characters in a show, there is a 99% chance that i will just love that show regardless of the plot lmao. i love laurent and makoto and abby and cynthia so much ;-; i also just loved all the twists and turns that this anime took, it’s unlike any other anime i’ve watched and agh!!!!! it’s incredible :’)
6) mob psycho 100. mp100 is like the perfect mix of shounen with action and fighting and stuff (and all the fight scenes are AMAZING like the animation ???? it’s so good oh my god and im not even the biggest shounen fan) with like. just slice of life and it’s so perfect :’) it’s so fun to watch, but it’s such a well written and exciting story and of course. AMAZING CHARACTERS!!!!!
7) haikyuu. haikyuu was one of the first animes i ever watched back in like 2014! so again, it has a very special place in my heart :’) i never thought i could care this much about a volleyball team but i do!! also, the rewatchability of haikyuu is UNMATCHED,, i think i’ve rewatched season 2 at least 10 times because it just brings me so much joy!! and again, i don’t know if i’ve watched a show with characters i care as much about as the haikyuu characters!! each and every one of them are so well-written like it’s insane to me- they’re all so good i can’t even pick a favourite!! also fun fact: haikyuu is the fandom that i’ve written the most fanfiction for! i’ve never posted any of it, but i’ve got a LOT of little haikyuu drabbles and one shots and planned-out fics in my google docs lmao- more than all my reddie fics actually! maybe i’ll post some if anyone is interested :’)
8) our flag means death. last but certainly not least,, ofmd is such a special show to me!!! i always had a little interest in pirates growing up, so when i first heard about 1. this new pirate show and 2. this new QUEER pirate show, i knew that i had to watch it!!!! and im so glad that i did because it is spectacular :’) again i feel like this is a show that embraced its silliness, but also the serious moments and plot points were so well written and such an amazing contrast to the silliness. i love this show so much and i’m so excited for season 2!!!
thank you again anita for this tag!!! im going to tag @edskasbpraks @lemonleafloser @scrunchi @reddieswift and @transkasp and anyone else who wants to do it !!!! no pressure though :)

LO RANT:
This will be short but I just absolutely love it when LO stans prove my points it’s so refreshing and satisfying for me. Mainly because I’m a sore loser and dread the feeling of being wrong (this is actually true although not in the way you’re thinking, don’t get me wrong I hate being wrong but I’m not the type to double down or insult or anything, I’ll take it and learn from it. Will I be embarrassed? Yes, will I beat myself up about it? Yes, but I’ll get over it. Most I’ll do is laugh in shock or cry in my corner) but also because it’s just so interesting to see honestly. What I mean by this is that a lot of the stans are only here for the imaginary sex scenes that we’ll never get, mainly because it’s on webtoon and the app has access to all which is why I’m always confused that they try and make it seem like webtoon is just this unheard of and adult app.
Like I’m not even being funny right now I’m pretty sure a lot of fans found this shit in middle school, maybe even lower than that so I’m not understanding why whenever we bring up the younger fans the older ones get so upset. Yes Carol, it would not look good if Rachel decided to draw full on NSFW in one of her chapters without putting into consideration the age range of her fans. But it is worrying how badly they want to watch each and every panel of how Persephone and Hades screw around, like they literally need those drawings at this point.
Speaking of the fans’ need for sexual activity, it quite literally seems to be the only thing they’re there for. Every single time I blink there’s another person commenting on how they want to see Persephone getting “pounded” or how “they want to see them fuck each other” or even more descriptive language to describe their insatiable appetite for literal porn. They don’t care for the failing storyline, plot holes, bad pacing, terrible art, mischaracterizations, and even bad character design because they will continue to eat up every single mediocre chapter LO pushes out while begging and pleading for NSFW every other episode. It’s really annoying because not everyone wants to see that shit, never in my years of reading Lore Olympus did I ever display joy or even intrigue about Persephone and Hades doing it and I’m sure there’s a bunch of other people that agree with me, I don’t give a shit if the stans get mad at me for saying this but it’s not just you in this fandom and your opinion isn’t the only one that matters.
Crazy thing is that Lore Olympus fans have been disappointed and frustrated with the lack of actual story since the stans that want sex over story scream the loudest for it. You wonder why the wedding was so rushed I’m sure those stans wanted it to be done and over with just so they could see Persephone in lingerie and Hades with another boner, they’re only here for the “spice” yet their requests are the ones implemented into the story the most. No one wants sex like they do, we don’t want fluff, we don’t want flirting, and we sure as hell didn’t want a wedding. We wanted to see a loving and passionate relationship, one that Rachel herself said that she wanted to create yet we literally get no chemistry or romance between these two that isn’t manufactured and forced. I’m tired of the perfect love story why can’t we just have a love story between the gods? If you’re not going to make it a horror retelling at least make it a bearable romantic one.
But honestly I can’t blame it all on the stans since Rachel seems to be pushing towards only wanting to make sex and fluff between them. That’s all you could really look forward to since you can’t even tell me what the real plot of this story or the message is, it’s all been lost years ago and this comic has been going on for 6 years now. There’s been no progress and nothing exciting being brought to this story for the last two seasons so really the spice is the only interesting part of Lore Olympus as a whole and it’s sad. Instead of doing fan service to the minority in your fandom you could actually salvage whatever remains of your comic by listening to your actual fans who are here for you and your work which is your story, not your ability to draw genitals.

- had to switch to the tv bc i cannot understand a word thursday is saying

- jakes just smiling at morse while watching him walk away is so 💅
- this girl using the word “breeding” when referring to building a family definitely suggests a little fruitiness i fear
- sexy curator taking his glasses off seductively to look at morse™️
- the one thing this episode got right was how shit morse is with women
- them realizing it’s joan on the date is so fucking funny
- “where would you like your ashes scattered?” (morse doesn’t believe in burials?????)
- it is so bizarre to me that this teacher would be showering anywhere near a classroom and even more bizarre that she’s walking the hallway in a nightie and barefoot
- how does she think gently tapping the window is gonna get his attention when he’s already halfway across the field???
- this is why all the women die in horror movies
- joan literally saying they should kiss and him being like “that would never happen bc coffee is gross” is so real of him
- her lashing out insanely at the girl playing the piano and then being like “what’s happening to us” like you fucking psychopath that was ALL YOU who is “us”????
- “they were of their time” = racist
- “all women together? it’s against nature” sir what the fuck do u mean by that
- this episode is not nearly gay enough for my tastes 🫤
- STOP WHY AM I SCARED
- him thinking it was bunty and being upset about it makes me physically sick
- if you pay attention to jakes during the scene they’re discussing how the little girl got killed you’ll cry just like i did!
- his reaction to it is so visceral
- “gently, please” FINAL STRAW
- debryn fully relying on morse to solve the case is so personal
- the way that morse is spurred by debryn’s faith in him???
- morse has been awake for more than 36 hours how is that even possible
- morse is so good for telling bunty it wasn’t her fault and insisting she believe him
- morse absolutely LOVES it when the heterosexuals are at fault for something
- “haven’t you ever been lonely?” and then the camera focusing on morse ILL BE SICK
- jakes also absolutely loves blaming the hets
- “and you didn’t think to offer that up before now?” 😑
- get him!
- an entire phone call to a police station was MISSED because morse had an Epiphany™️ and never answered
- the way shaun evans has to deliver the explanation monologue 4-5 times in a row perfectly?? THATS acting
- they are driving WAYYYYY TOOOOO SLOWWWWWWW
- guys there is a murderer in the house RIGHT. NOW.
- go faster.
- ok i lied earlier this episode makes sense
- but most of the time i have 0 clue what’s going on
- i also lied when i said the curator was sexy he’s a murderer so i hate him and he’s gross
- maud being the only child who didn’t know who he was and also the only child who was a victim of him is so fucking sickening
- “don’t mind me, just make sure the girls are alright.” jakes i love you
- how did that fall take Black out but not kill morse??? is morse indestructible?
- i’m never gonna recover from the knowledge that the surviving child was blamed for the muders and hidden away because she had Down syndrome
- episode gets a 7/10 from me for being really good but not gay at all

Miami Vice S1E13: Milk Run
An almost perfect episode with an ending that guts like a fish knife.
Milk Run is the episode that Little Prince wanted to be, and it's super weird to me that they're back to back. It's better written, better paced, and commits much more strongly to its message, so it feels a bit like you watch the rough draft of an idea and then the final draft right in a row.
It's also significantly more fun than Little Prince, which both makes it more enjoyable to watch, and makes the tragedy that much more painful. The first half of the episode is played very light-- jokes and smiles and sunshine-- and then by the final quarter you're left with the cold, sinking feeling that something terrible is going to happen and it's going to fuck everyone up forever.
(it does)
The episode opens with Sonny creeping on a lady who bends over at the airport, and Rico walking (crotch first) into his line of view and giving him a serious Sitcom Wife look. It's hard to shake the sense that this is a "Rico shoots his shot and Sonny straight up doesn't notice" episode; the smile he gives Sonny when he tells Sloane they're partners is shy and flirty as all get out, he literally grabs Sonny and walks with him arm and arm as they cross the street, he brushes his fingers against Sonny's and pivots around him a centimeter away as they lean on the hotel counter. Sonny ever so slightly leans into him after that, like there's some recognition of their closeness, and then they see Eddie and Sonny spends the rest of the episode freaking out about Justice(TM).
This is the episode where Rico reveals he is a vegetarian, and Sonny kind of brushes it off like "that's simply impossible, no such thing."
Tubbs says a bunch of stuff about a Colombian god who originated in Nigeria and seems to be surprisingly knowledgeable about folk religion, and then in the next scene he and Sonny have a conversation about Santeria that's so far removed from anything anyone has ever known about Santeria that you begin to wonder if he just made this "Colombian god" up to sound smart.
While Crockett speaks to the "Santeria Priestess" (a teenage punk who works at a movie theater and is absolutely not a Santeria Priestess), a bald woman behind him sports what appears to be leather bondage gear
A young Eric Bogosian roughs up Tubbs; later in the episode he says that Pepe Moya is "a freak" who "gets off on weeeeiiiiaaaahhhhd stuff." Okay, Worcester boy. Sure. That's how everyone in Massachusetts Miami talks.
The transition from Rico leaping into the car to the boxing gym, overlaid with Hit Me With Your Best Shot is just an absolute joy, A+ fun, silly, wholesome sequence.
Castillo asks Crockett to put surveillance in place and Sonny says he's already put "Mann and Terranova" on it. While I believe wholeheartedly that Miami Vice and Wiseguy take place in the same universe, it's a but strange to get your creator to do surveillance for you.
Tubbs makes the obligatory S1 "you will be sexually assaulted in prison" threat this episode, which is highly out of character and, as far as I can recall, never happens again. Sonny just screams at the kid.
Eddie tells Sonny that he can't speak to the police because his lawyer told him "you're just gonna use me."
Well.
Considering the ending.
It's almost
Like you shouldn't
Speak to the police
Without your lawyer
I think it's important to point out that Eddie, who is tragically killed in a way Sonny does not expect and cannot really have prevented (but feels like it could have been preventable to him), doesn't just share his first name with Sonny's prior partner. His last name is also Rivers-- too close to Riviera to be a coincidence. One of the themes of Vice is the cyclical and repetitive nature of tragedy for anyone who is involved in either criminality or the justice system (Mann generally posits these two things as mirror images or inexorably linked halves of one whole; see Heat). Eddie Riviera was a cop, thematically framed as an innocent, and Sonny couldn't save him, and Eddie Rivers was a criminal, thematically framed as an innocent, and Sonny couldn't save him. The only people who make it out are ones like Caroline, who divest themselves completely from that world. Anyone on either side of the law is equally damned.
From the time we see Eddie's body rolled away to the credits rolling is two full minutes of a 48 minute runtime; Sonny is sitting on the floor, mostly facing the camera, for the entirety of that two minutes. The amount of time from when the other characters leave and Rico sits down next to him to is itself a full minute, and the last 40 seconds of that minute are wordless. I don't think it can be overstated how endless a minute of hollow-eyed silence is in a television show feels.

hi merryana! what are your top 5 favourite succession episodes?
hellooooo. top 5 are:
'What It Takes'!!! literally my favourite FAVOURITE episode I could write dissertations. atm the only thing keeping me motivated with my spring cleaning is the self-reward of reading the episode script when I'm done
'Turn Haven' - only recently realised this is one of my favourite eps when I realised just how many scenes of it are some of my favourites in the whole show. I love the family vs family descent from comedy into borderline horror at the dinner table. love that the point is that the Pierces and the Roys are literally the same
'America Decides' - I mean it's the spiritual and literal direct culmination of the plot bunnies introduced in what it takes so this one was doomed to be a favourite of mine and it is! Theee vibe check episode. theeeee perfect catharsis episode for those of us with relatives who have fox/sky news brainrot.
'Prague' - literally to me the funnest episodeeeeee. i feel nothing but (mostly, apart from the cage revelation lmao) total joy when I watch it, almost every scene makes me feel like I'm munching popcorn, scoffing cake, being spoiled with treats. loveee all the stewy in this ep, love roman scurrying about trying to seem Very Normal, love Tom suffering at his own bachy do, love my girl tabs - delicious!!!
'Lion In the Meadow' - Adrian Brody wearing those fiftyleven layers and discreetly trying to kill Logan's antisemitic ass, with the stewy twist at the end too is why TV was invented.
Honourable mentions specifically to Lucy Prebble eps, Argestes and Honeymoon States. Miss Prebble has never written an episode of television that wasn't absolutely perfect and didn't make me wish to be a better writer and also swallow my own face from feeling extremely specific emotions I cannae name. the only reasons they're not listed in the top 5 is because I struggle to rewatch them without wanting to boil myself. Also honourable mentions to literally every other episode they're all amazing and they have all permanently altered me in some way and that's really not an exaggeration.

It was quite a lot of my mother's side of the family, my grandma (81, absolutely bonkers) and my aunt are going to Poland to visit my cousins (my aunt's eldest child, his wife and their daughter, Angel) for a week, so we gathered to say goodbye and give them any presents we had for Angel (she's had a birthday since the last of us went to Poland). It was less of a dinner and more of a "bring a plate of finger food" but I don't see them often because I work nights so catching up was nice.
I watched the new PJO last night actually! I waited until it was all released before I watched any of it (anxiety and cliffhangers don't mix well (I knew what would happen but anxiety doesn't care)) Oh my stars, those kids all did so well!!! It was a joy to watch from start to finish!! (for me at least, I know fan opinion is split)
Oh you ask the hard questions, don't you? My favourite TSC characters (I'm gonna cheat and say 2) I would have to say is Ty and Alec. I relate to both of them a lot. Ty was the first character like me (autistic) I ever saw in the media and there just aren't words for how much that meant to me. Alec I related to a lot as well because all he wants is his family safe and happy, even if he has to change the world to do it.
What about you? Who's your favourite of the TMI gang?
-☀️
Oh that sounds so wholesome! Is is okay if I ask from which country you‘re from (you don‘t have to answer)? Omg you work nights?! I could never do that! I‘m a day person through and through and have to be at bed by 10 pm like a grandma haha.
That‘s actually so smart (even though I would have been way too impatient to wait that long to watch it haha). I loved the show so much, but I still understand certain critique points like the pacing. As you said the actors did absolutely amazing (The angst in episode five?!? They are the perfect Percabeth). I literally screamed and needed to pause the episode for 5 minutes when the first „Seaweed Brain“ dropped. And the last episode was just crazy good! What was your favorite episode or scene?
They‘re two of my favs as well! And it‘s so amazing that you saw yourself representing through Ty! (I think that also shows how important it is to write characters that people can relate to).
So I actually have quite a lot of characters I love but my absolute favourite has to be Kit. I was simply so moved by his story and that even though he had a tough and unloving childhood, he‘s a such a gentle and kindhearted person and never truly loses hope.
My favourite TSC gang would either be the TLH or the TMI gang. I can‘t even really explain why but I just love them so much.
What about you? And here‘s another tough question: Which is your favourite TSC book?
Happy Valentine’s Day btw! I really love chatting with you!
Love you lots! 💕

Ninth Doctor Era Rewatch Rankings:
1. “Father’s Day” → I think script wise, #2 on my list might be a little bit higher, but when it comes to the emotional impact that Series One episodes had on me, there can be no other entry at the top. It has to be “Father’s Day,” through and through—a story about intimate, personal grief and the utter importance that even an “ordinary” man has on an entire world. I love this story for plainly talking about how a person’s life is elevated after their death; Jackie built up Pete to be a perfect man for her young, fatherless child, someone to be absolutely proud of. And I equally love this story for briefly deconstructing that fantasy by showing us the rocky reality of Jackie and Pete’s marriage and some of his less-than-admirable traits, and yet, still coming to a similar conclusion at the end of the day. Yes, Pete wasn’t perfect—far from it, in fact—but he was still someone to be proud of. He was human, and he was good. He loved his family. He died to save them—save the entire world. It’s all so beautiful and poignantly done. Billie and Shaun Dingwell put in wrenching performances. I cry every single time.
2. “The Empty Child” / “The Doctor Dances” → Oh, these episodes will forever fuck me up in the best of ways. I STILL remember being in middle school when I first watched them and being terrified of the masked people and their insistent refrain. But this episode is so much more than the terror, or really, it’s about the terror. The terror of war. The terror of not having a future. The terror of intimacy. The terror of never being able to heal from what has been done to you—or perhaps even, from what you yourself did. The Doctor sees his own trauma echoed back at him all over these episodes—in brave, selfless Nancy, in the bombs that are slow-cooking London, in Rose’s desire to know him at a new level. And it’d be so easy to offer the conclusion that there’s no escaping the terror; there’s no healing from a critical wound; there’s no hope at the end of a long day. After all, in Nine’s adventures that we’ve seen so far, nothing has exactly contradicted that. Someone has always died despite his best efforts. But, oh, man, in this fucking episode, just this once, everybody lives, and it’s a triumph that is absolutely the defining moment of Nine for me. As he laughs in that sea of golden lights, we see the exact moment that he finds his inner joy again. We see him begin to heal. Fucking fantastic.
3. “Dalek” → Genuinely my favorite Dalek episode of all time. Christopher Eccleston’s stellar fucking acting alone sells the horror of the species—what they are and what they have done, what even a single one can accomplish if it’s let loose in the world. And as we witness the carnage, both within our terrified Doctor and in that facility full of bodies, we also immediately see the idea of a pure Dalek turned on its head through Rose, whose influence turns a literal hate machine into something else. Something entirely new. God, “Dalek” is just a brilliant episode all around, one that interrogates the effects of war in so many ways. War only creates lonely, broken creatures. Like the Doctor. Like the Dalek. The corrective is purposefully choosing not to perpetuate that violence, so it doesn’t change you into becoming something that you can’t stand to look in the mirror.
4. “The End of the World” → Okay, I don’t have the deepest things to say here, except that it’s just an iconic fucking episode of television ALAKDJAKKS. LIKE, on one hand, you have moments of just outrageous camp—“Toxic” and Cassandra the “bitchy trampoline”—but in the same space, you have existential musings about how even though the world will one day be gone, the connections that we thread with our loved ones will always be meaningful and profound. Brilliant and funny and touching. A second episode that’s already firing on all cylinders.
5. “Aliens of London” / “World War III” → Didn’t think that these two would be so high on the list, but god, if the opening of “Aliens” and the close of “WWIII” didn’t absolutely spear right through me on this rewatch. I think these episodes do the best job (in Series One, at least) of showing exactly what the personal consequences of time-traveling can be. It’s something Jackie and Mickey had to agonizingly experience when Rose was gone from them an entire year. And it was something that Rose and the Doctor have to grapple with as well upon their return and in the subsequent battle with the Slitheen. The Doctor gets it better than Rose (understandably so). He can never guarantee her safety, and that’s a fact that perpetually haunts his entire companionship with her.
6. “Bad Wolf” / “The Parting of Ways” → URGHSHDHDJDHS, I like RTD finales because they’re balls off the walls crazy, but also, it drives me crazy that the series-long lead-up to his big twists tends to be minimal. I think I would have enjoyed the Bad Wolf ex-machina far better if we could have gotten consistent references (beyond unremarked upon appearances of the phrase) to it throughout the series. I’m also never the biggest fan of when legions of Daleks are the big enemy™️ because I’m still in awe of how perfect the episode “Dalek” is in showing how just one Dalek is a considerable foe. When they’re innumerable, the threat just sort of dulls to me. BUT for all this, there is so, so, so much to love about the finale episodes. I love the game show pastiches in “Bad Wolf.” Nine sending Rose away and her theme playing over his goodbye message is a top tier moment for me. And his regeneration is just pitch perfect. Nine was my first Doctor, and he’ll always be so special to me.
7. “Rose” → God, the iconic pilot. Really, just a pitch perfect introduction to the world of Doctor Who through the eyes of someone who is inexorably pulled into the Doctor’s mad, dangerous, and fantastic orbit. “Rose” does what a good pilot is supposed to do. Get us involved with the characters and make us want to know more. And Christopher Eccleston really sets the tone of this specific series in the climax of the episode, hinting at the devastation of the Time War and his utter guilt at playing a part in it.
8. “Boomtown” → SEE, OKAY, here’s the thing. “Boomtown” has all of the elements of the things that I typically love in an episode of a TV show. It’s got camp. It’s got banter. It’s got deep philosophical examinations of the characters and their moral motivations. And I REALLY loved Annette Badland’s performance of Margaret… but I think my ultimate qualm with “Boomtown” always ends up being that you can see the seams of the finale set-up just a little too clearly. I wish the Bad Wolf climax had been introduced more gradually throughout the series. And some of the dialogue here was just a wee bit too on the nose.
9. “The Unquiet Dead” → Honestly, there really wasn’t a bad episode in Series 1 for me. Just ones that were a bit more interesting than others. I still liked this episode. The guy who played Charles Dickens was incredibly convincing, and I loved the bittersweetness of the Gwyneth storyline. Her bonding moment with Rose was so lovely and human.
10. “The Long Game” → Simon Pegg was great as the antagonist is this one. The worldbuilding was fun, too—it was cool that the Satellite V plot came back in the finale! I think I just disliked Adam that much djsjfjjsjs. Watching his subplot gave me secondhand embarrassment—though that was definitely the intent.

top 10 most romantic vice versa moments? :)
SFJKSGFKGSKDGJSG SHORT ANSWER WOULD BE ALL OF THEM THEY LITERALLY INVENTED ROMANCE!!!!!! but apparently i like to hurt myself and aim to lose whatever sanity i have left so HERE WE GO I GUESS
1. the kitchen scene in episode 12. most of the time romance isn't actually in the grand public gestures but in the small ones we share every single day in the privacy of our homes and this scene is a perfect example of it like THE BACK HUG. THE CHEEK KISSES EXCHANGE. "WHATEVER COMES FROM YOU IS SO GOOD". PUEN TIGHTENING HIS HOLD AROUND TALAY AND TALAY'S HAND REACHING FOR PUEN'S OWN INSTINCTIVELY. "THANK YOU FOR COMING BACK AND SEARCHING FOR ME. AND THANK YOU FOR TAKING AWAY MY FEAR OF TOMORROW". PUEN'S HANDS ON TALAY'S WAIST. TALAY CUPPING PUEN'S FACE. "I THANK YOU TOO FOR BEING BORN SO THAT I COULD LOVE YOU". THE QUICK KISS AT THE END THAT'S JUST SO CASUAL AND INTIMATE AND SOFT. i've literally never seen two people be more domestic in love and enamored with each other in my entire life im sorry but this is truly peak romance to me!!!!!!
Tumblr media
2. the reunion scene in episode 11. romantic scene moment sequence of events of all time OF ALL TIME truly changed the trajectory of my life my outlook my values the very foundations of my personhood i genuinely can't have more than surface level thoughts about this scene or else i'll go insane fr. LOVERS TRASCENDING SPACETIME AND FINDING EACH OTHER AGAIN IN THE SAME PLACE ONE OF THEM FIRST FELL IN LOVE WITH THE OTHER BUT IN A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE IN A DIFFERE BODY!!!!!! “TALAY” BEING THE FIRST WORD OUT OF PUEN’S MOUTH!!!! TALAY BEING SO OVERWHELMED HE CAN’T SAY ANYTHING AT FIRST!!!! “AI’DANG”!!!! THE BONE CRUSHING HUG!!!! "YOU MUST BE VERY TIRED. FROM NOW ON THINGS WILL BE OKAY"!!!! THE WIFE TEASING BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY WHO THEY ARE BICKERING BANTERING NERDS ABSOLUTELY SMITTEN FOR EACH OTHER!!!! THE HEARTACHE THE LONGING THE REALIZATION THE RELIEF THE COMFORT THE TENDERNESS THE UNDERSTANDING THE JOY THE LOVE!!!!!! losing my mind my marbles my capacity for rational thought and my grasp on reality
Tumblr media
3. the hat scene in episode 9. doctor jimmy fucking pay my therapy bills and answer for your crimes in a court of law i watched this scene 9373828 times but also i can't look directly at it because i'll implode instantaneously. he really was out there that day making the most choices looking awestruck to the point of reverence and giving so much adoration tenderness wonder devotion LOVE!!!!! AND IF PUEN'S REALIZATION OF WHO TALAY IS WASN'T ALREADY THE MOST DERANGED EMOTIONALLY CHARGED INSANE SHIT EVER PUT TO FILM THEY ALSO GAVE US ANOTHER CONFESSION!!!!! "NO MATTER WHAT WILL HAPPEN, ALL I WANT IS FOR US TO REUNITE"!!!!! "I THINK I AM FALLING FOR YOU"!!!!! "CAN'T YOU TELL? IM FALLING FOR YOU TOO"!!!!! LIKE NOT ALL OF THIS ON TOP OF THE SOULMATISM THING PLEASE IM ALREADY ON THE FLOOR WAILING STOPPPPP KICKING ME WHEN IM DOWN
Tumblr media
4. the post reunion scene in episode 11. so you get the reunion scene and are now agonizing on the floor partaking in fits of female hysteria trying to get a hold on yourself but hey, you think, at least that's the most romance they're gonna give in an episode, right? you're safe.... right???? FOOL!!!!!! YOU'RE NEVER SAFE IN THIS SHOW!!!!!! and what's more devastatingly romantic than puentalay just being puen and talay and talking about their feelings like THE RETURN OF "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG THOSE 43.200 MINUTES I WAITED FOR YOU FELT LIKE"????? "IT WAS NO DIFFERENT FOR ME. BECAUSE FOR ME IT WAS 2.592.000 SECONDS I WAITED FOR YOU"????? "IM SO HAPPY"????? PUEN FIXING TALAY'S HAIR????? THE FOREHEAD KISS????? "DOES IT STILL FEEL LIKE A DREAM? OR DO YOU WANT ME TO DO MORE"????? THE HAND HOLDING????? "PROMISE ME YOU WON'T LEAVE ME AGAIN"????? "I WON'T LEAVE YOU AGAIN. I PROMISE"????? THE KISS????? anyway i'll be clinically dead for up to three business days do not contact me im becoming one with the soil
Tumblr media
5. the greyllery confession in episode 8. look i know im biased but if you don't think this is one of the most romantic confession scenes in the history of television you're just lying to yourself. THE FACT THAT IT HAPPENS WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE OUT TO EMPHASIZE THAT THEIR FEELINGS AREN'T ABOUT THE BODIES THEY INHABIT BUT ABOUT WHO THEY ARE????? TALAY CUPPING PUEN'S FACE AS IF HE'S HOLDING THE MOST PRECIOUS THING IN THE WORLD IN HIS HANDS????? "I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN YOUR REAL FACE YET I LIKE YOU"????? PUEN BEING SO OVERWHELMED WITH EMOTIONS HE NEEDS TO GRAB TALAY'S WRIST TO GROUND HIMSELF????? TALAY REPEATING "I LIKE YOU" 4 TIMES????? "I LIKE YOU TOO. I LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU"????? THE KISS????? THE TEAR FALLING DOWN PUEN'S CHEEK?????? i need to be institutionalized rn
Tumblr media
6. the hourglass scene in episode 12. i guess puen declaring his feelings for talay to the world would be the easiest choice here, but it's in the quiet moments just between the two of them where i always feel my heart swelling and overflowing with emotions. AND WHAT A MOMENT THIS ONE IS!!!!!! "i didn't need to look at it (the moon) and imagine your face anymore"!!!!!! "i don't want to leave you"!!!!!! THE HOURGLASS WITH THE SAND THAT DOESN'T FALL!!!!!! "I DON'T WANT TIME TO GO BY WITHOUT YOU FROM NOW ON"!!!!!! TALAY HUGGING PUEN FIRST!!!!!! PUEN STROKING THE BACK OF TALAY'S HEAD!!!!!! "FROM THIS MOMENT ON IT'S YOU AND ME. TALAY AND PUEN"!!!!!! MORE HUGGING AND HEAD STROKING!!!!!! CITY PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!!! friends im not gonna lie. im on the verge
Tumblr media
7. nivea bathtub scene my beloved in episode 3. im physically incapable of watching this scene without giggling twirling my hair kicking my feet pausing and screaming into a pillow. THE WAY TALAY LOOKS AT PUEN JUST RELAXING IN THE BATHTUB WITH HIS EYES CLOSED AND DECIDES TO CLEAN HIS FACE AND DOES THAT SO GENTLY AND INTENTLY????? THE WAY PUEN BRUSHES THE COTTON PAD ON TALAY'S CHEST AND SAYS "IF THIS CAN BE USED TO WIPE AWAY DUST, I SHOULD USE IT WITH YOUR HEART. I THINK YOUR HEART HASN'T BEEN USED IN A LONG TIME"????? and i always praise jimmy for his insane ability of expressing so many emotions through his eyes alone but sea is honestly just as good THE WAY TALAY'S EYES LOOK SO BIG AND DEEP AND INNOCENT AND VULNERABLE IN THIS SCENE AND HE CAN'T HOLD PUEN'S GAZE FOR TOO LONG????? the tension the yearning the electricity THE ROMANCE
Tumblr media
8. the first bed scene in episode 6. talay admitting out loud everything he missed about puen while puen is asleep!!!! just because he feels like saying it!!!! and all of those things being intrinsically PUEN!!!!! "I MISSED YOUR ANNOYANCE, YOUR SHYNESS, YOUR NICE SINGING VOICE, YOUR CARE, AND LASTLY JUST YOU"!!!!!! HE BASICALLY CONFESSED RIGHT THEN AND THERE AND DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE IT!!!!! AND THEN PUEN WAKES UP AND SAYS ONE OF THE MOST RIDICULOUS FLIRTY LINES I'VE EVER HEARD AND I RESENT THE FACT THAT I LIKE IT SO MUCH. thank god talay didn't get it but also i wish he did because "i like the sound of the sea" LIKE PUEN REALLY SAID HE LIKES THE SOUND OF TALAY AND SOMEHOW THAT MAKES /ME/ BLUSH????? and then they decided to make things even more disgustingly romantic by having PUEN GIVING TALAY AN EAR MASSAGE TO HELP HIM FALL ASLEEP????? is my mental health a joke to these people
Tumblr media
9. the missing you scene in episode 6. TALAY LITERALLY POWER WALKED TO TUN'S PARENTS' HOUSE JUST SO HE COULD SERENADE PUEN AND TELL HIM HE MISSED HIM AFTER NINE DAYS OF NOT SEEING EACH OTHER. and that's pretty romantic as it is, right??? you'd really think that would be more than enough to get the point across, but since no one in this show seems to be satisfied if they don't make any scene as deranged as possible, we have TALAY LOOKING STRAIGHT INTO PUEN'S EYES WHILE SINGING "OH DEAR LOVE, I LOVE YOU". WE HAVE THE OG "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG 12.960 MINUTES I WAITED FOR YOU FELT LIKE?" "I KNOW. BECAUSE FOR ME IT WAS 777.600 SECONDS THAT I SPENT MISSING YOU LIKE CRAZY TOO". WE HAVE THEIR FIRST REAL HUG. honestly everyone involved in this show should be in JAIL
Tumblr media
10. the helmet scene in episode 3. there are romantic puentalay moments that actually make me tear up from the sheer immensity of their feelings for each other and then there are romantic puentalay moments THAT HAVE ME GAGGING ON THE SIDE BECAUSE PEOPLE IN LOVE STINKS!!!!!! this scene definitely belongs to the latter group like PUEN GLUED TALAY'S HELMET SO WHEN TALAY FINALLY GOT IT OFF HE COULD READ THE WORDS WRITTEN ON THE BACK!!!!!! TALAY LITERALLY HAD THE SAME THOUGHT AND WROTE ON THE BACK OF PUEN'S HELMET TOO!!!!!! "THE ONE WEARING THIS IS CUTE" AND "YOU'RE SO GREAT"!!!!!!! and even before we got to that they were just standing there saying stuff like "im so lucky to have you"!!!!!! "im also glad i have you"!!!!!! "i'll live tun's life to the fullest. to the best. with you"!!!!!! THE PINKY PROMISE!!!!!! I HATE THEM ACTUALLY THEY'RE INSUFFERABLE

Gale and Randy were really doing one insane sex scene after another in that first season 😭😭 But what would you say are the top 3 from s1?
Hey anon!
Listen Gale was not lying when he said that he dove in so deep, so soon, so quickly with Randy. They really threw them into the lions den and said "Here you are, now get to it!" in the first season!
They kind of covered this in the 10 year reunion panel I giffed (which if you haven't seen and you're a fan of qaf you should definitely check it out, it's so funny and such a joy to see some of the cast together. I adore Peter, Randy and Gale so it was like a dream for me to watch)
Gale talks about the logistics behind filming those sex scenes and how he kind of had to get into the right mindset doing them. They suffered for their art especially in that first season because apparently they had a terrible costume designer who hadn't quite worked out a comfortable and easy way for them to cover their modesty and they were gluing fabric onto themselves asdfgjhkdhd.
For us watching it's like a quick two minute scene but for them it's hours and take after take. You can tell he really, really cared about getting it right and getting the character of Brian to be an authentic portrayal of a gay man and what the writers had written for him. He talks about having gay friends who were out and some that weren't and even though he was straight he didn't want to get it wrong and not do it justice. No wonder he developed that really close bond with Randy on and off screen it absolutely helped with making it so believable along with their mind blowing chemistry. There was a lot of pressure on those two as they were the first pair to shoot the sex scenes and the writers were like "You're setting the standard for the rest of the show and the rest of the cast would be watching and taking your lead." type of thing. I mean we only got Justin topping Brian one time because Randy insisted on it so you know, it was a difficult process for them at times.
Also being arguably at your most emotionally and physically vulnerable, totally naked with a new co-star you've just met and having it all be filmed, whilst it's your FIRST tv acting gig - crazy.
Anway that was me going off on a tangent - sorry!
Now to answer your question there isn't actually that many sex scenes between britin in season one, surprisingly when you go back and watch.
I will always maintain that for me the scene in 1x10 in the hotel is the hottest scene they ever filmed. Again the first season y'all!!! The chemistry and sexual tension is literally on fire and popping off the screen. From Justin undressing them both to the soundtrack playing over them as they make out 🔥
The one in 1x04 in Michael's bedroom when Justin runs away and Brian is supposed to get him to leave and instead they fuck of course. Once again the soundtrack and music choice always adds to it- the qaf soundtrack is just the best. Plus Justin coming downstairs with that "I just fucked your best friend in your childhood bedroom face" is goals. Teen Justin ftw.
The one in 1x07 is the most graphic I think for the first season but the montage of Craig finding the picture of britin together with them fucking in the background. The writers really went for it.
Also I can't not give special mention the pilot episode. The perfect mix of comedy with Justin saying he prefers Cheerios, is allergic to Tylenol and then proclaiming he's a top and bottom who loves to rim. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Also that scene set the bar and they only got better as the show went on.
As much as a lot of the relationship had sex scenes in it, the chemistry between Gale and Randy and the story made it so much more. That's why I love them and why they are such an iconic pairing.

The Nice And Valid Criticisms of Dyson Bradley (bitch)
General warning for Good Omens Season 2 spoilers
Please heed this warning before reading further, thank you.
I just binged the entirety of Good Omens 2 (which I will refer to as GO2 for simplicity from now on) and I had a few thoughts about it.
First of all I want to preface this by saying I loved it. I'm not writing a long hate speech bc I enjoyed every moment of it, there are just some thinky thoughts I need to throw into the void. For example, the writing was superb. Gabriel's "Jim" character was my absolute favourite. I'm a sucker for 'scarecrow' type characters and he was my silly little guy. I wanted to pinch his cheeks. I loved how Aziraphale and Crowley inadvertently adopted him for a solid minute.
The diversity of the show in its entirety was refreshing to see (as a personal complaint, though, I wish we could've seen at least one trans man). Especially the disabled angel. There were only two slight rough spots about the disabled representation that I felt.
1. I did not like how the disabled character kept being forgotten and meant so little to the season that if you removed them nothing would change.
2. I did not like that, despite all of the representation of queer people, people of colour, we only got one visibly disabled character. It felt sort of tokenized, like "hey look at me there's a wheelchair user! Okay onto more of the other minorities that we care more about."
I liked to see the reality that is the fact that queer people can have toxic relationships or be toxic in a relationship. It's not all sunshine and rainbows. Nina having a genuinely difficult relationship with Lindsay was good for the fact that it was very real and kicked all the lesbian fetishism a bit by saying "these are people in a relationship, not sex appeal." Which was fucking amazing. So tired of seeing lesbian relationships be perfect all the time. I also absolutely loved the fact that they didn't end up together and did the mature thing. They communicated and decided it wasn't a good idea to date right after Nina got dumped.
Gabriel was a joy to watch and I loved the mystery of what happened to him. Somehow, despite how sudden it was, the relationship formed between Beelzebub and Gabriel didn't feel sudden or forced. It was actually really sweet and I was happy they got to be together. I didn't like how Gabriel's memories came back in a fly, I wish Beelzebub had taken the time to slowly remind him of who he was and ultimately make him a more optimistic and better person from the transition of Jim's experiences to Gabriel's. Though I understand it was a subplot and limited to 6 episodes of already hectic storylines. You can only do so much, especially with the strikes.
Shax was a pretty flat character, which is fine. She made a good antagonist, I just wish there was more of a sense of danger like in the first season. It felt a lot calmer and more love focused, I'd love to see aro representation here too.
Which brings me to my final criticism.
Aziraphale.
Now I have no degree in literature, I am literally [REDACTED] years old and fresh outta highschool. This is mainly just my opinion. As the rest of it has been.
But it was my interpretation that the entirety of GO season one was to represent Aziraphale finally accepting the fact that he is not on the Angels' side nor the Demons' side, but on Crowley's side. I had thought it was quite clear that he and Crowley officially made their own little corner of nice living outside of the binary.
However, this seems completely erased in GO2. It's not clear until the last episode, but Aziraphale still wants to be on the Angels' side after everything. It's like GO1 never happened. It felt like a soft reset of his personality in its entirety. Same with Crowley and the whole "nice" thing. I had thought that he was accepting his niceness enough to tolerate being called it every once in a while.
But neither of them changed. In fact they got worse. They didn't communicate with eachother about their relationship (which, I understand), and then the show ended on a cliffhanger after Aziraphale seemingly completely reverts back to when he first met Crowley. Maybe I'm not understanding something, but it just didn't feel right. I'm not Neil Gaiman at all but it wasn't in Aziraphale's character in my opinion.
That all being said, if you haven't watched it and for some reason you read this anyway knowing there would be spoilers, please go watch it if you have access to it and if you enjoyed the first season. The characters are still so very well written and they feel like real people with real experiences which you don't see often in queer media. It's good representation of real people. I can't wait to see what happens next ♡
