I love to put twists on things ✨

It would be your boring old standard watching the show fic if they watch it before or during the show. No, I will make it even worse, they're younger, they're reacting to things they shouldn't have to worry about.

What's wors is that there are villains with them. They won't even understand why they hate them.

There are plenty room for character interactions as well because I've pulled them from different points of time. Some characters won't know each other, some know more than the other etc.

What I am really going for with this is their interactions with the kids.

Leatherhead and Slash are there, what would they do when the turtles are afraid of them when they only want to help?

April is there, she knows them from when they're all grown up but they're deathly afraid of humans.

And the villains. How old do the turtles need to be for them to consider that what they're doing is bad? Do they stop now that they're younger?

It's just fascinating how people deal with children so that's why they're young ✨

TMNT 2012: Actor AU

An AU where TMNT 2012 is a literal TV show and everyone are just actors on a set.

Here’s what goes on behind the scenes:

Raph and Mona Lisa fell in love on set filming the show and became a couple during filming. When filming season 4, Raph developed an actual crush on his costar, so after filming season 4, he asked her out and she accepted, admitting that she fell for him too while filming their scenes together. They are dating in both the show and real life, and even after the show ended they're still going strong.

Karai is a famous child actor. She's been acting since she was a little girl.

Splinter and Shredder are long time friends and always have fun on set together, they’ve been doing movies/shows together since they were young men so they consider each other brothers

This is April’s first big role in a show, she was always a background character in her other jobs before she got her big break

Mikey likes pranking people on set, this infuriates the crew

Raph likes to tease people when they screw up their lines or takes, but god forbid you laugh at Raph if he messes up his lines

April and Donnie are besties on set, not romantic, but they enjoy pretending to be a couple in the show: “he/she’s the best fake boyfriend/girlfriend I’ve ever had!”

Leo and Karai are uncomfortable with the relationship their characters have and constantly argue with the writers to fix it or change it

Slash originally audition for Raphael’s role, he didn’t get the part, but the director liked him so much that he created a character just for him so he could be on the show

Karai knew Shinigami outside of the show (they worked on another show together years prior). When the director wanted to add a new character in season 4, Karai recommended her friend for the part, so Shini got the roll and was casted as Karai’s second in command

Leatherhead started by doing community theater, so being on a tv set was a big change for him

Casey keeps hitting on his female co stars

Karai and Mona Lisa do not get along on set

Leo's voice change was written into the show because of an actual injury that happened to him before they began filming season 3

The plot twist of Irma being a robot really pissed off Irma (she and the director don’t get along and he did that twist out of spite), eventually she was able to find a loophole and return to the show to play Rook.

Leo has a long term girlfriend outside of the show, it’s Lotus Blossom ;)

Casey always shows up late and keeps on being threatened by the director that he’ll get fired (he knows he won’t be fired)

Mikey and Renet are long time co stars, starring together in other shows from the past (reference to their VAs Greg Cipes and Ashley Johnson)

Tang Shen is a tv star legend and her appearance on the show was as a guest star

Tiger Claw is a new popular action movie star. Splinter and Shredder are his idols that he grew up watching.

Timothy got fired from the set for accidentally destroying filming equipment. That’s why he never came back

What’s going on in your after dark AU

I think of it more as a post-movie fic in comic form with a bunch of worldbuilding headcanons but anyways

After Dark is the name of the comic, I've planned two parts, two arcs.

We are just entering the first arc of the comic! Backyard fairies!

Its the farmhouse arc that was present in both the 2003 and 2012 iterations (I've watched both) in which the turtles (try to) heal after a big event, be it a failure or a victory. The surroundings of the farmhouse hold many mysteries, because the hamatos will never catch a break :/ poor guys

The parts of the arc will be more just like little one shots with a thin plot connecting them like in the show instead of the plot being the main focus, it thickens towards the end but overall I'm more exploring the world and the characters and what they've been through.

The main characters in this arc would be Mikey, April, Donnie and Casey because Raph and Leo got the film. Splinter and Draxum won't appear in this arc to deal with the aftermath in the hidden city because they believed the boys would be safe away from it (of course they were wrong). Cassandra has a clan of middle-schoolers to run in new york which was put on lock down, so she too in the end won't be able to visit :[

The episodes would be like this:

Mikey in wonderland- the focus is Mikey, he goes to explore the woods a bit because his arms ache and he needs a distraction.

Target practice- the focus is April, the exploration of her role in the predicament the hamatos are stuck along with a small theme of feminism and her being a part of the clan.

Five easy steps to build a tree house- the focus is Casey, he lost his home, and he realizes the turtles he grew up with are gone with it too, also a glimpse of his past and birth.

Its the IRS! but they're not after Donnie?- amateur timestress tries to impress her mentor, and draggs Mikey with her into the mess.

Germophobia- Mikey drags Donnie into the woods to meet someone he met there. Donnie isn't a fan.

Thats it for the first arc I think. There will be smaller stuff in between that'll show the details, how Raph and Leo are doing, what is up in NY and the HC (hidden city).

The second arc is the infamous tmnt space arrrrc

It'll be called star sailor ✨ the main focus in it will be Donnie :D it'll include the triceratons, fugitoid, many aliens and a lot of existential crisis :'] i think it'll be much more angsty and philosophical then the first arc and ooh can't forget the amount of body horror I've planned >:D

Oh boy this is...quite an ask. Especially bc fanfic recs are so personal? What I think is a good fic will be vastly different from other people. I have a really high angst tolerance, so please double check tags with these. Also keep in mind that I mainly read donnie-centric fics.

It is VERY well written and has some of the best exchanges between the disaster twins. You WILL be scared for the characters and your heart WILL be crushed. Proud to say I was here for this fic since chapter 1 bc that NEVER happens with me

Donnie Villain AU with a twist. He really gives off megamind vibes. DO NOT BE FOOLED. THERE’S A REASON EVERYONE IS OUT OF CHARACTER IN THE BEGINNING. I almost slept on this fic and it became one of my favorites. It’s the type of fic that I can read over and over and over.

Turning Purple by Lizardstuff | 48,123 [ON-GOING]

Donnie slowly gets more and more sick post rise movie and the rest of the characters must find out what’s wrong and find a cure. THIS ONE’S FOR YOU, MEDICAL NERDS. Author has done research and any inaccuracies have gone over this EMT’s head. I reread this one every chapter update and every time I’m haunted by “the blueberry french toast paragraph” No I will not explain further, go read it.

MY TOP FIC RECOMMENDATION

Spider's Web with Strings Attached by CurlySwirly | 125,661 [ON-GOING]

Donnie and Leo get kidnapped and are forced to fight in the battle nexus. This is my pick for the most well written fanfic and most in canon characterization with ALL the characters. You will HEAR the characters not just through the dialogue but also through the writing itself. As the reader, you will be beaten down and have your heart crushed mercilessly which makes the pay off the most rewarding, satisfying experience that I've personally ever felt with a fanfic. This fic lives in my head rent free and I think about it at least once a day. It is my all time favorite rise fic and I highly recommend it.

Unfamiliar familiar is not just a fic, it is a harmful representation of tmnt 2012.

Infantilizing Mikey who canonically has ADHD, and then going ahead and giving him autism, rubbing salt even further into the wound. As an autistic person, it is absolutely disgusting seeing one of my favorite characters be broken down and destroyed by an in educated idiot, who obviously does not care about the 2012 tmnt characterization or the fact that they have pretty much ruined the tmnt 2012 AO3 tag for so many fans, including myself.

They had a big hand in the creation of the “abused Mikey” trope, which is an absolutely horrible characterization of 12 Mikey and his brothers.

It is harmful by villainizing Raphs anger issues, infantilizing ADHD and autism, not tagging the fic as an AU, as it is so OOC and completely destroys everything Tmnt is about.

Family, the turtles being brothers, being strong and stealthy ninjas. If Mikey couldn’t handle a bit of roughhousing, how would he have gotten through 15 years of ninja training!?

If torable actually watched the damn show all the way to the end, then it would become apparent that Raph goes through character development the most. He changes, is calmer, less aggressive, he’s happier more at ease, because he’s found people in his life who understand and love him for who he is. The change isn’t a flick of a switch, it’s a gradual change over the seasons. Raph is so much more than an aggressive impulsive idiot.

ADHD and autistic people are misrepresented in media, in absolutely horrible ways, and even when autism is done right, it’s always only the one side of the spectrum and never with an actual autistic actor. autism and ADHD do not need to be misrepresented in fanfics as well.

What ever the hell that creature is that torable claims to be Mikey, it’s one struggle after another, and adding autism because you just want to infantilize him is abhorrent. Autistic people are not babys who need to be treated like glass, and representing Mikey as that destroys his character and misrepresents autism in a horrible way.

On a video I did on tiktok about “unfamiliar familiar” I got comments from people saying that they know the author IRL and apparently they are ex-friends and torable was abusive towards them, I’m not saying these claims are true, but I got 3 different people comment about that same thing…🫢

Long, long post. Mostly me rambling. Have a lovely day :)

I watched 2012 tmnt when I was little so I got used to the vibe that one has, like the darker colors and stuff. So the first time I saw Rottmnt I was like

woah

It’s super colorful, there’s a lot of hyper activity, a lot more jokes, and it’s pretty obvious that it was made for the attention of little kids

so I didn’t watch it. It just didn’t really grab my attention, and I didn’t watch it until I saw a clip of the opening scene in the movie. And then I was like

woah

so I went ahead and watched the show. And it was amazing, and I loved it, and I’m a huge fan of Rottmnt. Not to mention the fandom (at least here on tumblr) is actually awesome to interact with, everyone is really excited to talk about the show and share headcanons and art and it’s amazing.

I’ve gotten into other fandoms and content through the Rottmnt original content creators too. I’m sure that a lot of people know the Cass apocalyptic series, which was incredibly written and drawn and had me coming back to read it over numerous times. And the comic also led me to read Casserole’s original content, Marble Sky, which is amazing as well by the way.

And the au comics are amazing, too. I read the Mutation Situation, I read Jacob’s Ladder, Two Arms Left, TizSepAu, Villan Leo, Kid Leo, Redline, Swanatello, Gemini Twins, Bloodbath au and a lot more I’m not mentioning.

Rottmnt is a kids show. Same as the Powerpuff Girls, or Paw Patrol, or any other kids show out there. It’s not for everyone. It’s catered to a target audience, which happens to be little kids who’s attention is caught by the bright colors, and hyper activity, and the 2D artstyle. It’s not for everyone, same as every other tmnt iteration, same as all content everywhere. I don’t expect anyone to go out of their way to watch Rottmnt, especially if it doesn’t interest them, and you don’t have to watch the show to interact with the community either. You can enjoy the community without enjoying the show.

You do you. Do whatever makes you feel good. I just hope that everyone’s experience with tmnt, and the tmnt community is as positive as mine is. I saw a post talking about all the reasons the blogger did not enjoy Rottmnt. I read the whole thing. It made sense, I understand why they didn’t like it, and I just disagree. I didn’t pick a fight. I just liked the post and moved on.

Recently I’ve seen a lot of people picking fights over disagreements a tv show made for kids. Not a lot are actually engaged in, which is good, but we really shouldn’t be picking fights at all. Basically, all this to say, you do you. Do what makes you happy. And if you disagree with people, just do that. Disagree. You don’t have to fight, or be rude, or anything. I’m all for debating, as long as it remains respectful.

I’m very aware that I can’t control other people and dictate how they interact with others, but I can suggest that we’re just nice to each other. Please.

My adventure with Rise of the TMNT and it's community.

I remember very clearly where I was when I heard about rottmnt for the first time. I was over at my sister's house for a night. Everyone else was asleep and I was still trying to watch TV. When all of a sudden their was an ad for a new TMNT show.

At the time I was a fan of 2012 TMNT, but as a child I was too dumb to keep up with the show on a regular basis. Plus we still use cable so I had no way to binge all the episodes. To this day I haven't watched all the all the episodes of 2012 TMNT.

However when I got home at like 11:00 PM the next day. I saw the the first episode of Rottmnt was on. I watched it and while it seemed kinda childish and goofy at first, I slowly grew to like the show more and more. I watched every episode at least once and watched the season 2 finale when it came out. This was the first show I kept up with like this.

However, as I said, I was a dumb kid. I was oblivious to many things such as Donnie's autism, Mikey's ADHD, How the show had been cancelled unfairly, and many other messages of the show.

However a couple months ago, I got reminded of the show and searched it up. I watched a lot of old clips on YouTube until I saw that I had missed the rottmnt movie. I had no way to watch it or the show, so I resorted to watching the few reaction videos I could find at the time. Then I watched character analysis and saw how much of the show's messages I missed as a kid.

One night while I looking at a rottmnt comic dub compilation, I saw something that seemed cool. A comic series that showed what the future turtle's did before the events of the movie. I quickly made a Tumblr account and searched up this au.

I quickly discovered the creator of this au was @somerandomdudelmao and the comic series in question was called the cass apocalypse series. If you have somehow not read this series I HIGHLY recommend it. The characters act like they do in the show, the art is fantastic, and I consider it the closest thing there is to as "season 3" of Rottmnt at this time.

This discovery led me into the rottmnt fandom. I discovered many other very talented artists and writers. If I tried to list all of the talented people in this community I would be here literally all day. It inspired me too both write my 3 part own series called "Rottmnt Atoning" and my first attempt at drawing Leo.

So consider this a thank you message to everyone in the rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles community. Thank you for helping me rediscover this show after forgetting about it. I have a couple good ideas for Au's and I will try to post them when I can.

Now if only we could get an official rottmnt season 3.... Actually at this rate the community is so talented that if don't get an official season 3 we could just band together and make it ourselves.

not yet, still focusing on building up the main cast and their powers and all that shit. i've barely talked about April at all tbh. hell i haven't even gotten to designing SHREDDER yet and he's kind of important.

but they will be there eventually. i like mondo gecko and pigeon pete and leatherhead and i want them to be a part of the story but my mind only has room for so many things at a time :')

also my only exposure to Timothy is @/pinetreevillain's timothy and i know that he's bascially an OC at this point. i think if i wanna make iterations of those characters I should at least watch episodes of shows with them in them, and idk when i'll have time to binge tmnt 2012 so!! that might have to get pushed back until the summer.

anyways MY separated au is basically, splinter is like 'ehhh i actually am not fit to be a father and maybe i should be responsible and give them to like,, idk yokai adoption centre?] and like,,, they all get separated in the system and stuff. raph and leo bounce from house to house for a while. donnie and mikey stay at the first house they get. and like,,,, lots of things happen and when leo turns 13 he runs away from his house and runs into mikey and they click and i promise its a cool and good au.

Going Silly Mode

[rise + 2012] Mikey sneezes and accidnetally summons 2012 raph mid air while he's swinging from building to building. after the initial scare and multiple death threats and a fist fight they work out whats happening. raph is still pretty sceptical for a while but then mikey shows him the hidden city and then raph is holding onto every word. mikey decides to keep small raph a secret and is totally not suspicious at all. the whole fic is just mikey and raph blowing things up and getting angry

Cetified WORST bodyswap au

[1987 + 2003 + 2012 + 2018] this is what i like to call THE WORST body swap au ever. i will not be able to write anything about it until i watch 03 and 87. however im putting it in the poll so that people know it exists. its horrendous i tell you. i choose all the worst options. the caseys, aprils and splinters will be included. i will also add random characters that i like. and dont like. i am taking suggestions for who you think would be abysmal to team up with. in fact, im probably going to add more version in the mix too, like the 2007 and 2014/16 movies. everyone will suffer. i domt think anyone will make it home unscathed. i feel bad for the aprils already.

It is time.

WE DOING THE TMNT ASK GAME AGAIN!

I’ve decided I’m going to schedule one for every time I reach a certain number in followers so I can open my options to invite more amazing turtle fans to join in! 💞

We technically reached that number a while ago, but I was busy and I want this to be a fun experience, so I waited. Sue me.

Special thanks to everyone who played last time! I’ll be keeping a wary eye on past winners, but I’m sure ya’ll won’t get so lucky a second time around 😏

And for all the newbies: This is a mainly 2012 site, so I assume most of you are here for that kind of content. And by that same logic, I assume you watch the show/have pics from it.

My challenge to all of you is built off pure, unfiltered arrogance.

You send in photos including at least one turtle to me through asks and I tell you what episode that scene is from! I get all the time in the world to use my memory and turtle knowledge to give an answer.

If you make one difficult in the sense that you zoomed into a turtle hand and everything is blurry and I get no background context to help me piece it together- I get to deny that ask.

Zoom in if you want, just make sure it’s fair, k?

Also, I wanted to try something for this round. A field test, per say.

Whoever stumps me with a picture, gets A) a point to add to the end count which will determine my absolute, undeniable turtle genius/my level of overconfidence that was my undoing and B) an ImagionationStation Drabblish.

This Drabblish is by prompt and character requests in asks after I announce winners at the end. Not that many of you may take me up on it, but for those who are considering…

A Drabble is often something that ranges at around or exactly 100 words, I believe. A Drabblish is just a quick clip I scribble out with 500-1000 or so words that I wouldn’t constitute as a OneShot or chapter. Mainly because of missing pieces to storyline or a simple want to not provide context or maybe I just don’t feel it deserves the title OneShot.

I mainly write for 2012/RISE and everything centers around Donnie in some way. Donnie&Leo hurt/comfort is my strong suit in both universes. (Or so I’ve heard.) Heck, any kind of hurt/comfort is my strong suit. Or just plain injury and horror. Depends, really.

You can request whatever prompt your heart desires- but I do have every right to deny it if I am not comfortable.

Something with Mikey abuse from brothers? Heck, no!

Romance? Uhhhh, depends on the couple, I guess…?

One of my AUs? Give me some context first, but it’s a possibility!

TMNT Humans!AU except it's not that they started out as humans but that they got thrown into our world and now they're humans ans people won't stop telling them "Hey you sound like (insert VA here)" and they find out our world has TMNT as a long-running franchise and Donnie breaks his brain trying to figure out if this means their dimensions are offshoots of this one created when the shows were created OR if their universes would exist anyway and this is just How Dimensions Work sometimes

They have to get jobs and they're really upset about it actually (I think 2012 are 19 by the end of their show and it seems like maybe Raph at least is around 17-18 in the movie) because it's even worse than jobs in their own dimensions. Yes this is me wanting to project shitty job experiences and emotions onto current comfort character, what about it?

This could work well as a crossover or individual AUs. I think it'd be funny if each turtle has a favorite iteration/era and none of them favor their own. 2012 Mikey likes '91 Secret of the Ooze and then all of Rise the most. He's the only one I've made a determination for.
