‘The Weaver’ prints drop tomorrow 30th Jun at 12PM (PT) for 72-hours 👊🏼 

This painting was for my exhibition titled ’Sanctuary’ back in 2019. I wanted to explore the idea that whatever hardships come our way, we ultimately get a choice in how we feel. Be it joy, love, anger or sorrow— anything and everything. That sentiment gave birth to this concept of a ‘Weaver’ and the ability to weave one’s own ‘thread’ into whatever they choose. In other words: although we don’t have any control over what obstacles come our way, we always have a degree of control over how we respond to them.

I might not be the best with words and explaining my concepts, but I hope the painting is able to at least tell that story better 🤞🏼 #brbchasingdreams

Summary:

Madara may be a child but he's not a fool.

It was a privilege to write for the Thread of Fate fanzine (@founders-tarot-zine), and I’ll always be grateful to have been given the opportunity.

Madara stares down at the river that rushes past his feet and hurls a rock into it.

The stone is big, worn smooth by the water, and it makes a satisfyingly large splash. Ripples from its fall spread out to touch the banks on either side, a temporary bridge for a border that seems more uncrossable now than it ever used to be when he would jump back and forth like it was nothing. They fade quickly though and he sends another rock after it.

He tries to empty his mind — he doesn't want to think, not here, not now — but he can't.

He always used to come here to brood, to try and escape for a little while, but this spot now holds memories of its own. It's here that Hashirama showed him how to skip rocks from one side to the other, and he's gotten pretty good at it, but that's not what he wants to do today.

No, today he's simply expelling his frustrations into the water.

I just thought, what if the chain was actually their thread of fate? The thread we knew was a thin one that can easily break by people who want to fight for it but what if it's a chain? A thick and metal chain. It's something that can't easily broken by anyone using their own force that's why the KimCom tried to break it with all their might just to bring KDJ back but it's not enough and they just concluded to write another book and send it to every dimensions that has KDJ just to hope it will break off even it takes millions of years atleast they tried and did their best and will continue to do so, for eternity, until it break.

I've always found the legend of the thread of fate that connects two people interesting and think that Ritsuko and Alexandra are connected by a thread 💜

In Japanese it's called 運命の赤い糸 [Unmei no akai Ito], or more commonly just 赤い糸 [akai Ito], and this legend is said to be a widespread belief in Japan. It is often the subject of anime or manga that two people have a common destiny and I find that both exciting and romantic 🥰

I got my @founders-tarot-zine Thread of Fate tarot deck (and assorted other shinies!) yesterday, and this morning I've done my usual first reading with a new deck - basically asking it how will we work together?

My spread:

Temperance moderation, finding meaning, calm, patience, balance, flow of the world finding a balance in life that allows you to attain (and keep) calm as you walk your path (even through the world's chaos)

Ten of Wands (inverted) inability to delegate, lack of priorities, being in over your head, unable to let go of things (and let others handle them) you've accomplished great things, but you need to accept your own achievement and let others step up to shoulder some of the work moving forwards; what can you do to lighten your load?

The Hierophant (inverted) rebellion, new approaches, a subversive look at the world, questioning beliefs, rejecting tradition you may be feeling constrained by your life, and wondering whether decisions you made in the past were made with your true self (or to suit you) or were made instead to meet expectations from others; if you're considering taking a lesser-trodden path - do it, diverging from what is expected of you, and pursue a new approach
