A ripple in the crowd drew Kei’s attention, and he frowned, eyes narrowing as he tried to track it without being able to see the pattern of people moving clearly. Still . . . how clearly did he need to see it? It was gradually surging this way, from the same - or close - origin point as his children, and Kei could guess. ‟. . .someone is chasing you, aren’t they.” Kei glanced down at Sho. It wasn’t a question. Sho grinned at him, hopeful more than honest. ‟Nooo?” he tried. Kei sighed, turning back to the woman he’d been haggling with and turning over the agreed payment, tucking the wrapped parcel he got in return into the mesh bag he had been slowly stocking with food for the children. He nodded absently to the woman and stepped away from her stall, Sho nudging up against Kei’s hip and Toshi bouncing restlessly on his heels nearby. ‟We didn’t do anything!” Toshi said, then paused mid-bounce. ‟Uhh. . . Nothing real big!” he corrected.

Seth wasn’t expecting it when fire erupted around him, and he stilled, staring up into the velvety black of the night above. It was shock almost more than pain, even as the fire spread - first in the wood and fabric caging him, then into himself, and-

The humans’ voices returned, more painful than anything else in this world could ever be, and Seth thrashed against his bonds once more.

Leaving the World please!

The only solid and steady thing in this world, as wild as he had always been, and Seth longed painfully for Holth, the distance between them more agonising even than- The humans abandoned them eventually, still bound into the coffins, and the only sound remaining was an unfamiliar feathery ruffle. Seth might have whined again as he twisted and thrashed against the wood, against the chains, struggling, or perhaps he could still hear Holth - he could not be far away - but the noise was tangling up his thoughts, making it impossible to reason.

My friend is trying to name herself, and she's like, "Oh, what's that name that's like marmalade, but it's a name?" and I know she means Adelaide, but I think I can talk her into naming herself Marmalade if I play my cards right here.

Sometimes I keep worn-out socks (or the mates to worn out and thrown out socks) because they make great bandage covers for paws (dog, example), and the tops, when cut off, can make great bandage covers or similar for arms (mine). Do I need these often? Absolutely not. However, when I do, I need them right now and it's difficult to find something else that works nearly as well. . .

(Grippy socks make me more likely to slip or fall; I apparently subconsciously calculate how much slide there is to wearing socks and having it Not Work makes me more likely to wipe out.)

thinking about the poll about canon vs non-canon ships that didn't define terms, and the current fandom focus on things "going canon," so i made up a scale.

this is NOT a question about whether canon matters to what you ship (or matters at all), just how to define the phrase "canon ship."

many ships start low on the scale and slow burn their way up, so vote for the point when you would have called them "canon." i agonized over the order (especially #4-6) for a day and a half, but i went with the order in which i think joe random with a nielsen ratings box and no tumblr account would notice/call something a romantic relationship.

there are many young merfolk out there, so i felt the desire to create a badass elder for mermay :) she’s as much derived from as she is dedicated to the vuvalini of MMFR– i also sincerely hope she brings joy to my mutuals older than me who always delight and inspire me, and to all older women in fandom, really, who i continuously thought of while working on her

i hope it’s obvious but just in case: she’s beluga / inuit. and yes, a name and backstory eventually developed! haha
