A scuffle of shoes were muffled on cold, brick pavement; it was damp, and lights reflected at the end of a dirty alleyway from the street. They didn’t reach far past the initial grime.

The rustle of clothing accompanied a low grunt as a man was pushed forcefully against an equally cold brick wall, nearly as grimy as the ground if not for the occasional rain leaving rusty stains from fire escapes above. A solid wall of muscle behind him pinned him just as surely as the brick before him did, with his right arm twisted around against the small of his back and the left instinctively thrown out in front of him to cushion the fall.

It hadn’t been much of a fall, not with the way the person behind him had controlled every part of it. The whole thing had been poetry in motion, if he’d anything to say about it. The grab, the twist upon the fulcrum, the power and control and economy of movement! There was not a single bit of effort wasted–

“I have a knife.” The voice behind him was low, pleasantly so. A sharp point pressed against his back, just barely, just enough to feel it through the wool of his three-piece suit, and oh that took a good bit of knowledge and practice, didn’t it? Presuming he only wanted to frighten some poor sod, rather than actually harm them, and there was no indication this would-be-thief was in any way violently inclined at this time...

He hid his smile with a curl of his hand on the wall, and twisted his neck just enough to look back at the towering man behind him, eyes widening so that the whites showed enough he might even look a bit frightened while he was at it.

The man had a hat on, and a hoodie over that, both of them black, which was cliché enough to almost be cute. But it obscured his face well enough to work, so perhaps it was classic for a reason, he mused silently to himself. But the man had a surprisingly delicate jaw, which threw him for a bit, he’d been expecting something a bit more rugged or defined to go along with that voice, but this man seemed to have a more naturally rounded face, more rounded shoulders too instead of squared, now that his eyes wandered...

“Don’t move, and I won’t have to use it,” the man continued, “where is your wallet? Tell me.”

Pausing for a moment, he couldn’t help but tremble as he bit back a laugh. What a wonderful delivery! Well done!

The man behind him sighed, and the grip on his arm loosened, just a tad, almost unnoticeable really, though the pressure keeping him otherwise pinned to the wall hadn’t changed, and he said, almost comfortingly, “I won’t hurt you, just hand over your wallet, or maybe a watch instead if it’s valuable, and you can be on your way back home, unharmed.”

“Oh no, that’s not–” and at that point he couldn’t keep it in anymore and snorted a laugh that was entirely out of place. The man behind him paused, he couldn’t say the man quite froze—as he didn’t stiffen up or anything like that, it would have been easier to pull off the next move if he had, actually—and pushed off the bricks in front of him with his left hand while pivoting towards his right to face the taller man. From there it was simple enough to catch him off guard, loop a heel behind him to pull a foot out from under him, and then happily kneel down on one of the few drier spots in the alley to give the man a winning smile as he groaned.

“Oh, pardon me,” he said jovially, leaning over to tenderly pluck the switchblade out from the man’s hands, “I’ll just hold on to this for a moment. I’ll give it back in due time. Now, if you like, my watch is on my wrist, and I’m happy to give that to you. As for my wallet, it’s in my suit pant’s left, back pocket, but I daresay you’ll have to fetch that one yourself if you want it.” He tilted his head to the side and his eyes narrowed to crescents with the force of his, if he did say so himself, utterly charming smile.

The man on the ground blinked up at him slowly for a moment or two before groaning again and letting his head thunk down to the brick pavement.

“S’alright. Can’t say I want it much anymore.” The man shrugged, and threw his arms up to fold behind his head as a cushion, making himself comfortable, even going so far as to raise a knee up and then cross his leg over it, as if to say he was fine down there and wouldn’t be getting up anytime soon, he wasn’t bothered by this turn of events.

“Well.” It was hard to keep the delight from his voice. And despite what he’d said about his wallet, he dug it out of his pocket anyway, and pulled a card from it, a business card to be exact. “My name is Savin Reep, please do give me a call. I’ll be waiting.”

Savin stood with another smile, and pushed his hair back out of his face from where it’d fallen free from its previously slicked-back appearance, and casually walked back out of the alley and merged into the after-work commute back home as if he were any other office worker on any other Tuesday night.

And he would be, waiting, that is. Even if that’s not all he would be doing, he’d be waiting too.

The man would have to come find him to get his wallet back, after all...

Hi there! Can I please request separately Nikolai, Fyodor and Sigma x reader (preferably male but gn is fine too!) with the ability to disarm them with ease (and with no fear). Like, the character could be mad or worried about something and our tall boi reader can literally pick them up to shut them up. meanwhile, the characters can't talk. They're in disbelief and shock about the sheer audacity (and reader being strong as hell despite his lack of visible muscle). After a few seconds, reader will ask something along the lines of, 'Cool, are you okay now?' and when the character nods, he just puts them down and gestures for them to continue talking. This is a weird request, I know, I got inspiration from all those aggressive cats who suddenly stop being aggressive and just become confused once picked up XD.

↪he was also rather unpredictable. but if there was anything you could say for sure about him was that he would never hurt you. maybe unintentionally or if he deemed you useless but you never dwelled on those thoughts to much.

↪so you had no hints of hesitation when you would force him to take care of himself. that wasn't something he was great at doing.

↪fyodor would often spend hours upon hours sat at the very same chair staring at the same screens. very rarely however, he would get extremely annoyed and you would be on the recieving end of that anger sometimes.

↪sometimes thing's wouldn't go to plan or he got mad at his 'insignificant' subordinates and his mood would sour. so when you decided to go talk to him about taking a break for a while, unknowing of his attitude, he couldn't help but lash out at you.

↪and reasonably, you didn't take that. two problems could be solved in the same action - you didn't hesitate to immediately close the gap between you and him before picking him up.

↪you had little fear of his ability, he wouldn't use it on you and he was too confused at the moment to do so. for the first time in ages, fyodor was too stunned to speak. how dare you just pick him up like this.

↪and even when you sat him back down, he was in shock. but in his disbelief he became more preferable to talk to and more willing to finally take a break and rest with you - probably because he knew you would just pick him up again of he disagreed.

↪he hated the fact that you could do that too him. but if it was anyone else they'd be dead on the spot.

↪ you'd asked him about what he'd been up to and before you knew it, nikolai was spewing out every little detail of his day and getting rather mad.

↪of course, you hadn't seen him this mad before so you had no clue what to do. and so in an abrupt train of thought as he seemed to get more agitated, you picked him up.

↪so abruptly that iy caus nikolai to drop any thought that threatened to spill put of his mouth next. all he could was stare in disbelief at you.

↪but even after he calmed and you put him down, you could tell from taht mischievous glint in his eyes that thos wouldn't be the only time.

↪your lover was, for the most part, very calm and often collected. he never really showed anything else to anyone but you.

↪and it would only be natural that he trusted you the most, trusted you to the point to where you could witness the stress taking over his calm composure.

↪it wasn't a surprise that he could become so stressed, he ran an entire casino afterall. for the most part, you always tried your best to help him calm down and express his worries properly.

↪but it seemed today was more stressful than usual. sigma was pacing around his office spewing out any thought or concern he had and he was visibly getting more and more stressed.

↪while you were listening, you would be a fool to be think that your normal methods of helping him would work. and so you came up with a new idea.

↪he only looked at you confused as you walked up to him. but he quickly became rather shocked when you abruptly picked him up like he was nothing.

↪that shock and disbelief soon melted into embarrassment which rendered him utterly speechless. so even after a short while when you asked if he calmed down, all he could do was nod.

↪and he looked slightly confused when you simply asked him to continue but calmer. he thinks he'd die of you ever did that to him again.

hi Raytorosaurus, in the beginning of your post you said Ray has done interviews, podcasts, and blogged in recent years, can you please link me to those things? I would be extremely and eternally grateful <3

yes ofc!! this one by tom bryant (author of not the life it seems) is my favourite! and not just because ray talks about how much he loves being a stay at home dad doing chores while his wife gets her master's degree. it's just sweet, and goes a little more in depth into remember the laughter's concept than some of these other interviews.

this one isn't remember the laughter related, but tom bryant also did this interview with him the year before, after he released for the lost and brave dedicated to leelah alcorn (cw non-graphic discussion of suicide). it's really fucking sweet. ray talks a lot about his family and about fatherhood and about how he wants to raise his kids to be as kind and socially conscious as possible in pretty much all of the interviews i've linked here, but i really fucking love this thing he says in this one in particular:

"If ever my son was having a rough time I would just hope that he would trust me and allow me to be there for him. It’s common for parents and older people to look at youth in a negative way and to not respect the young as people. My wife always says that a lot of parents treat their kids like property – the whole, ‘this is my house, these are my rules and you must abide by my law’. You have to put yourself on the same level as your kid, you have to relate to them as a person. I hope that there’s more understanding about the differences between people in the future that my son grows up in.”

at the risk of sounding like a broken record, this one is also really fucking sweet. again he talks about the values he wants to impart on his kids, and how his son is featured in the lucky ones playing his child's percussion set :'''')

this is a podcast he appeared on - he did at least one or two others but i think sadly they've been lost to time :(((((( but god this one is so sweet he's just sooooo. so <3. ray also says the band broke up a few weeks after his son was born in september 2012 which is interesting lol.

and then i love this interview sooooo much too like this writer really gets it. ray talks about how he got obsessed with this free climber after watching a mountaineering documentary which inspired the great beyond, so the great beyond actually features a fucking chalk bag as a percussion instrument because he's insane and i love him. it also has the line "enthusiasm leaking from him like a punctured capri-sun" LOL. and then it wraps up with this statement that i really love:

because honestly that's the one common thread through all of mcr's discography and every single one of their solo projects. they are all 100% earnest. they all access that honesty in different ways and ray's definitely not a super accomplished lyricist so some of the lines on rtl verge on corny or schmaltzy sometimes but they never, ever sound fake or inauthentic. he wrote the album imagining he was speaking the lyrics to his son to instill a sense of hope in him about the world so he'd grow up with the belief that he was capable of making it a better place and he fucking means every word of it bro. he's ray toro :( i like him :((((

Good morning! I woke to lovely piece of yours with a Yan!Mayor & Yan!LBD with a fem reader. It was a wonderful piece that didn't stretch too long but left me feeling very happy due to the lack of Mayor/LBDxReader content there is here & anywhere from what I can see. If it's not too much trouble, may I please request a reader who can actually fight back against the Yan!duo?

Maybe she gained immortality because the women of her family had witnessed the Mayor's & LBD's powers generations ago, thus building the subsequent generations after the first witness (maybe someone who also caught the two's attention but managed to escape thanks to SWK, his "you should have stayed buried" line has cemented into my head) saw what they were capable of & feared their return. Generational training & horror stories ensue. The day of the ritual arrives & Mayor comes to collect Y/N but is shocked to see her resilience against Lady's call & chains. Maybe she [Y/N] uses the chains against him & he ends up bound instead? Same with LBD (not Bai He possessed tho, pls). I really think they'd be shocked & intrigued about reader's strength & ingrained tactical knowledge added to resistance to both of them... Might be very interesting~.😈

Bonus points if Y/N says something like "I see why you use chains, Chief; you look so darling all wrapped up~!" or "That is a lovely song you sing, but I am not one for such melodies, Baigujing." [<-LBD's real name] Imagine the reactions!

Being part of a family that had gained immortality and power was not always the easiest.

All your ancestors were always present, if they hadn’t been killed.

Your family had gained partial immortality; meaning they would not die of age. But if they were, perchance, given a life threatening wound, they wouldn’t survive.

But that just made your family more careful of how they used their immortality. Every day in your extravagant home you would witness the generations before you, still walking, talking.

It would be eerie to most. But to you, it was normal.

Another good thing that came from your family with immortality, is that among the generations power grew, you being the recent generations, it was strongest for you. It wasn’t very well combat-wise; but it allowed you the ability to deflect an attack and mirror it just as it was performed.

Your family never explained how they harnessed this. But listening in as a child to your ancestors at the alter briefly mentioned a name; Baigujing.

Your family soon brought you with all cheers to the alter, they had dolled you up with traditional robes of white, holding incense sticks and sage.

It dawned on you.

Your family made a deal for immortality. A sacrificial deal. You didn’t know what to feel. You couldn’t feel anything. You were kept in the dark for so long and for what, to be sent like a lamb to the slaughter.

You had no choice but to let it happen.

How else would your family progress.

A cool most wafted around you, a feeling of floating. It was like you were weightless. When you opened your eyes, you were standing, met with two people, a man. He wore a shockingly wide grin.

“My lady will be pleased with this sacrifice. How pleasing you are.” He hummed in an unstable voice.

Chains shot from under your feet, making you reel back briefly, before honing your ability to deflect and conquer the chains, sending them the man’s way; watching as they coiled around him like snakes and held him still in front of you.

The chains were strong, stronger than any you’ve seen; they emitted a soft, ghostly glow. Joining your hands under your sleeves, you kept a blank stare. “I see why you use chains, Chief;” you muttered, watching him stiffen. “You look quite lovely being held by them.” He could hear the coo in your voice, it made him wonder how this was a possibility.

But he didn’t have the time for that, unfortunately,

As the Lady Bone Demon seemed to materialize just behind him. “And what seems to be the problem,” there was a slight sneer in her voice before she laid her eyes on you. “Ah, our sacrifice. What a beautiful one, a shame.” She’d spoke calmly, releasing the Mayor from his own chains you deflected onto him.

“Come now dear, there is no use in resisting. You were chosen to be killed in return for their immortality.” The Lady Bone Demon hummed, walking circles around you, as if she were gliding.

She tried to latch onto you with a chain of her own, letting out a shocked gasp when the chain came back her way and clamped around her wrist. “What a lovely song you sing. I’m not one for such Melodie’s, Baigujing.” There was an eerie silence.

“I see you have done your research on the two of us; but still hadn’t known your family would sacrifice you to my will.” She spoke calmly, releasing the chain from herself once more.

“My dear, how do you deflect my chains so simply,” Baigujing said with a hiss, walking towards you; that’s when you realized how tall she truly was.

“It’s something I was taught..” you would simply respond back to her. She did not seem to buy it, however. But accepted that nonetheless.

“We are taking her back with us. We will hold the family’s end of the ritual; but we are keeping her.” There was a semi-shocked “What?!” From the Mayor, before he cleared his throat and corrected himself when the Lady Bone Demon shot a pointed glare his way, it shut him up very quickly.

“Come now, my dear. Or shall we have to take you by force.” YIU could only respond with a glare. This made the Lady Bone Demon turn her nose up with a huff, before she grabbed your face and tucked you close to her body, so you would not be able to get away. “Come now, let’s start anew.”

You reeled back your elbow hit her in the rib, making her groan in disdain. The Mayor immediately leapt into action. No, literally. He leapt on top of you and held you down. Sliding his hands up your neck and into your hair, he roughly yanked it back, which earned a strained groan from you.

“That was a horrible mistake, dear. For that we will have to discipline you. Since you wish to do this the hard way, we will treat you as you’ve chosen.” Her words were eerie,

And for as long as you would fight back, the more they would break you down.

How okay are you with cusses? Cuz I came across this post of old hollywood bloopers and since the Detective AU/Sleuth Jesters takes some inspiration from film noir (at least I thought it did?), my mind immediately wandered in that direction. They do cuss a bit tho but there’s something funny and sincere about old-timey people just being people and dropping the perceived propriety by swearing. here's more if that's alright

Also in the very hypothetical case of SJ being a film noir production, I’d think it cute to image Eclipse, who plays the nastiest of nasties, actually being super kind and sweet irl (and constantly bumping his head cuz he’s just too tall lol). Sun and Moon may be more laid back or more like their SB selves perhaps? just goofy and having fun. But ignore that if actor au type stuff isn’t your cuppa tea ^^’ I do prefer SJ as is in its fictive context. Just thought it a funny set of clips to share :)

I'm okay with reading/hearing curses, I just don't like to write too much of them! And yes, Sleuth Jesters is very inspired by film noir! I love gag reels and bloopers, they're so funny!

AHHH AN ACTOR AU WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN! I wouldn't write a full fledge story but it's really exciting to think about ♥ (psst @luminitewrites I think you mentioned an actor sleuth jesters AU a while ago? but if not then feel free to ignore!)

Oh gosh, Eclipse just being a real sweetheart (hehe)! He gives me vibes of this one interview with an actor who was asked about people who idolized the very evil and morally messed up character he played and he just bluntly says: that's wrong and you should probably get therapy if you do. (I can't remember who exactly was the actor/quote but if I do, I'll put it here lol)

Sun and Moon would be their Security Breach selves. They're fun behind the scenes just as much as they are while in character!

I also think about the boys knowing their lines perfectly, because, animatronics, so Y/N would be the one who curses and apologizes whenever they forget a line. However! Y/N is the best at improv and delivering great, unexpected lines that enrich the scene/dialogue! Of course, that's not to say the boys wouldn't have their share of flukes with missing cues or messing up an action scene, or keeping up with Y/N when they do some improv.

Ash gave him that button off her jacket [probably needs to be resized I'm realizing lol] [also I totally adopted this headcanon from someone elses post- might've been yours. Whoever came up with it I love it <3]

Born during the reformation that happened after the war- basically, nobody was really fighting anymore during this time, but some big people in power were still being stupid [aka: not letting their prisoners go]

So that would be somewhere around 1947? Which would put his age at 61 in my universe [which is in 2008- the times are pretty much random, nothing really lines up irl. Ignore how they use tech and other things that shouldn't have been invented yet lol]

He grew up when the Skunk Dolls were new and popular and stuff. And he loved them- so much that the band actually kinda inspired his music career

[Skunk Dolls also made loads of protest songs btw. War stuff]

Takes a ridiculous amount of care with his mane, and if he lets you touch it, that's a true sign of trust

So the Piglets always like to play with it, and Ash has given him braids a few times

He's had that scruffy red jacket since his early days

Ash probably'll give him a quill or two to put in it too with all the patches and repair stitches

Buster is terrified of him, but Clay is just kinda a blunt person and it doesn't mix well with Buster sometimes. They get along eventually tho. There was also some really bad timing with the circumstances of how they even met in the first place too lol-

Johnny is also. Super terrified.

Buster and him are like "Ahhh.... that guy scares the living daylights out of me." "Ohh, thank god it's not just me-"

He has a strange out-of-pocket interest in astrology.

And in herbology and plants in general, but he picked that up from Ruby. Astrology was all his, and it is the one thing he will "nerd out" over

Also the kind of guy to make fun of you for nerding out too

Making fun of people is his love language

So is giving people food

He's not great with his words and can find it hard to express love by just telling someone. Back to the bluntness thing, you can often find him accidentally offending someone and he doesn't even realize it

The troupe very quickly learned this and it's more of an endearing trait of his to them [and to most people who know him]

REALLY good cook. Fantastic, in fact. Probably one of the best chefs out of any of the characters.

Learned the hard way that enlisting Buster's help in the kitchen is a bad idea. Also Ash isn't great either, but he actually tries to teach her some of his recipes. And she's quickly improving

Buster was just being an idiot and forgot you shouldn't microwave tinfoil

Clay travels a lot, but spends most of his time in Calatonia [he technically still lives at his and Ruby's house, but he's super scared of accidentally closing himself off again, so he only visits to check up on the flowers and maintain the property pretty much]

He's like Ash's second [and very cool] dad. Which- also intimidates Buster quite a bit :D

I feel like their dynamic could be a sitcom. Clay is Ash's awesome dad and Buster is Ash's lame [endearing] and oddly unhinged and anxious dad who feels like he has to be as cool as Clay [and always fails heehee]

Clay is more entertained by Buster's ridiculous criminal record than horrified and I don't know if that's worrying or just a classic Calloway W

He's a very nonchalant person

Ruby's death is the only time I can really think he had a legitimate emotional break that wasn't just him being snappy [which is also pretty rare]

Clay's also like an uncle to the Piglets

He's kinda just taken up the role of "super awesome miscellaneous family member" for everyone at this point

He's back performing again after Sing 2- just not frequently or putting out any new songs [on his own at least- he might do a collaboration or two with Ash]

If you could undo any of the retcons in DA, what would you choose and why?

the inquisition.

i mean, this is a short answer, but as time goes by, i understand that this is an honest one. this is a tangent, but i guess dai is just an example of electronic arts' production hell if bioware planned the second game only as a bridge for the inquisition's main conflict, and then we get this regarding the mage uprising. like, it's reasonable to assume that since da2 was supposed to be a preamble, the dai's initial main focus was the mage rebellion? and then it's just one main quest in the beginning of the game, and that's it.

but this is not about retcons, it's just me being annoyed. it's just the dai is the most fruitful regarding the topic.

hawke suddenly hating on blood magic. they tried so hard to push it with leandra's death, and then just decided to take the matter in their own hands, ig.

whatever the fuck hawke and varric say about anders. this is not their point of view, at least not in every case, in da2??

whatever the fuck they did to dalish.

and i think there are other sliders from dao they retconned and put aside, like with the circle that mages built near orzammar? do it, cowards! it would make such a good plot point in a normal version of dai where your focus is the mage rebellion.

the ending of dragon age absolution. i'm sorry, did anyone find it satisfying? did anyone go, like, hell yeah finally? or i knew that!

uhm. characterization. dialogue. emotional shit? idk i think i do best when i have intimate moments with two people. tiny everyday moments and mundane shit. like that. if i get going writing sometimes flows super well and i think i can get consistently readable stuff done in one go. but that'd require getting going lol.

action. i suck at action. i also suck at it in the way that i can't actually make myself start writing. i got way too co-dependent when i still had people excitedly participating in the process and now i sit here sad doing nothing :'D but anyway. writing action and having some self-discipline lol.

depends very heavily on the context. in general i do think it should be all in one language for readability but there are exceptions. i've done it too lol but it was only like a line or two in finnish :'D

[Role Reversal Inside Job ft. Brett and Reagan]

I've suddenly been assaulted with ideas of Inside Job Role Reversal that I wanted to share. So Here ya go. Inspired by @drewcahndo thanks dude! I love your art, it really got my brain flowing.

Reagan Ridley

Born into a family with a more "decent" Rand Ridley. Still works in Cognito Inc with JR. He's still pretty crap but I guess less crappy. He's elitist and still looks down on everything but he's actually put together and not drunk.

Cognito Inc was and is kept a secret from Reagan and thus was never subjected to high expectations and large goals. She thinks her dad is a robotics engineer making toys.

Altho prodigious, it didn’t quite reach the expected smarts that would impress and garner her father's attention. And so her brain was under utilised and not as trained as og! Reagan.

Altho Rand Ridley has a semblance of care for her Reagan, he ends up neglecting her, but also spoiling her with inventions and toys, an actually functioning Bear-o.

Bear-o basically became her main crutch. She was interested in robotics bc of Bear-o, but it never lead anywhere aside from watching her father work and do calculations and the few books she smuggled yet barely understood.

Rand often disregards and belittles Reagan's intelligence and does not even considering any output from her. Considers her too naive to be in his line of work.

And so she ends up normal enough with a sunshine attitude. Tho with a people pleaser mentality that doesn't question authority.

There will be moments where her intelligence shines thru but due it being unpolished and so rarely speaks them at all.

Graduated at the top of her average (pretty high end but nothing prestigious) schools, Rand didn't let her in Cognito and lacking any direction, worked odd jobs like being a lobbiest.

Despite being elitist and inadvertently puts his daughter down, he really hypes her as the best lobbiest bc altho Reagan isn't the best in his eyes, but regards her higher bc she has his genes. Tho its kinda condescending despite him meaning well.

Until Oprah Winfrey took her in the Illuminati due to her handshakes (so she says)

Chances are she took her in bc she's Rand's daughter who's clueless about the whole secret society. Petty queen.

Or thought she'd be a good asset to the team. Who knows?

Slow starter but fast learner.

Enthusiastic and positive but has a tendency to apologize a lot when she senses the other person took it wrong or says something she thinks sounds stupid.

Brett Hand

Born rich yet isolated within his family deemed unimpressive.

Instead of coping by doing everything he can to please them or other people, he opted for violence and aimed to prove them all wrong.

With vast ambitions he throws himself into multiple activities (studies, exercise, etc)

He's unfortunately not considered prodigious at anything, so is basically climbing the ranks without a boost. So his starting and present position is impressive to note.

Bc the Hand Family is super rich, of course they know Oprah Winfrey.

Altho not as smart as Reagan, Oprah Winfrey (lol) saw immense potential through his unyielding ambition and the work he's willing to put to get there.

Winfrey fully supports Brett like that wine aunt his gateway to the Illuminati.

Graduating from Harvard at the top, only got by with caffeine flowing thru his bloodstream.

Follows og! Reagan's footsteps into robotics.

Considered handsome, intellectual with a charismatic/intimidating voice during presentations and debates, he's not very good in the emotional/people category.

Man still looking handsome despite running on fumes. Baristas give him discounts. Life's unfair.

Brett exercises, like the og exercises when he's stressed. Which is basically all the time.

He tries to be presentable, he doesn't unfortunately try to hide or get the bags off under his eyes.

Prideful with an arrogant vibe, it's not obvious but he's self conscious af especially when his position is question/threatened.

He often looks down at himself, hates when other people question him.

Some people misname him and call him "Brent", which he hates.

Uncertain Headcanons

Not sure of Tamiko and Rand's marriage status and their happiness. Really just Tamiko's position in all this.

I'm unsure who the main villain here is Rand or Oprah.

I'm on the fench about Reagan joining a bunch of sororities.

I'm thinking about who's the drunk lady Brett would be hauling around. I'm unsure about it being a part of his family that's now considered a massive scab or just let the idea altogether and just make Oprah the villain.

I also wonder about the 80s movies whether Brett would still have a connection to them or Reagan would. I lean more to Brett thinking of it as a bitter memory, still on the fence about Reagan finding solace in 80s toys and films. (the few she actually had, since all of her toys were made by him)

Final Notes

That's it for now. I have a lot of ideas but if I withhold posting this it'll never end.

I didn't go into details about the relationships and dynamics but I imagine something like Reagan saying something smart or pointing out something Brett missed and Brett would just have a crisis and wondering if he's going senile at age 30 as he's searching up and cursing his family's genes.

Chances are some points won't correspond well or be completely differently from the series' ep plot lines. But ain't that the fun part of Role Reversal AUs?

Harvestella credits rolling... Time to give my thoughts on the game

Spoiler free thoughts:

Genuinely terrific game, I will bite the hand of whoever at squenix's marketing department declared this game to be "just a farming game" instead of the cosmic horror jrpg it actually is

Cry count was somewhere in the 15-20 range, had some of the most heart-wrenching side quests I've ever experienced in my many years of playing jrpgs. Main plot made me go "what? Hello? Huh?" Almost every cutscene, but in a good way.

A solid 10/10 game I love it to fucking pieces

Soundtrack was a genuine 11/10 I want to inject it into my brain

Characters were 10/10 love them so much

Combat was a 9/10 I didn't mind it being on the simpler side, though the final boss dragged a bit

Inventory and crafting gets a 10/10 I love how the inventory/storage works

Farming and ranching gets a 9/10 just cuz I could never get a hang of crop placement and had to axe so many plants OTL (skill issue)

Environment is a 13/10 I love the scenery and towns they're so incredible

Game performance on switch gets an 8/10 it was really solid for like 80% of the game but once u get more than 2 farm upgrades it rly starts to struggle on frame rates on the farm. Overworld also had that issue towards the very end. It was on switch tho so I'm not docking it too much for that, it did rly well (though I did suffer two crashes so OTL)

‼️‼️SPOILER ZONE‼️‼️

I will say, the ending didn't get me as teary eyed as I was expecting, but I felt it did a good job and didn't let me down. The final final boss could have had better line delivery as well as a bit of reworking of her final lines cuz by that point it felt a bit hollow to me. Though maybe I was just jaded from fighting the dream of man's end. That boss fucking sucked

(NVM loaded up my new game plus and getting the letter in the mail saying "humans, I love you" made me cry. I love you too, Omen.)

Favorite boss was by far Aria. She had incredible dialogue and I loved seeing her character getting pushed into a corner and the very human way she lashed out. So incredible I love her so much, and it felt so rewarding to give her back her diary and bringing her back from the brink of despair. She's such a relatable character.

I will say it's also incredibly funny that the minute I got to the American flag in Heine's quest I instantly put together where the plot was going, the fact that it was so warn, the way no one knew what it was, what an incredible morsel for them to give.

Favorite quest was probably a close tie between Istina and Dianthus. I loved that istina was given a "traditionally feminine" role, but was by no means treated differently for it. There was no hint of "you'd calm down if u just had a kid" type shit u see from so many pieces of media. Instead she got to have a storyline about learning how to be happy, how to help others have a happy childhood when she never got to have one. And Dianthus just... I fucking ugly cried at her quest I'm ngl. Her deciding to create art, as inspired by Emily... Makes me feel so much.

I also love that Geist went fucking crazy trying to realize his full potential with the metaphysical, meanwhile Dianthus is like "I'm simply built different" and handles it no problem.

I love Dianthus so much. She was my fave when I first picked up the demo and she stayed my fave the whole way through. Can't wait to date her in post-game.

I just need to vent a bit-

So, its been a year and so now, isn't it?

It's curious to me how much Techno affected me even tho I wasnt one of his biggest fans at that time, and yet, I went thru some really, really hard times over this, and in some ways, I still am, up until recently I didn't feel the strength to watch his videos, up until recently even if I watched them I couldn't help but smile in a bittersweet way

Not too long ago I was finally able to laugh, to enjoy them again, to not think about how he's not here anymore while hearing his voice, and instead, have fun with what he left for us, and yeah, that's what everyone is been saying to do, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggled with actually doing it, because it IS hard, it's hard to not start to have fun and immediately remember "... He won't be doing this anymore now, huh?" and get sad all over again, even if we know he won't want us to still be crying

I got over it a week or so ago, I finally can watch the great potato war without sobbing for twenty minutes after watching it, and even if the grief won't go yet, I feel like im moving on, never leaving it all behind, but carrying the moments that made it hurt so much in first place, needless to say the happiest ones, in my heart, and overall, I'm full on energy, I've been inspired by him, by his all, like everyone, to do something, to give a meaning to what I do now, to be as strong as him-

And yet... The reason I write this is because of the grief left in me, I can't deny that whenever I go watch the qsmp streams a part of me can't help but wonder "wouldn't this have been so cool if Techno was here?, if he could've been here?"

I can't help but imagine him making fun of the eggs for practically being orphans, just to be forced to take care of one, can't help but imagine him immediately throwing one off of the wall, or maybe training Chayanne, and probably, growing to love Tallulah in a "I've had this child for five minutes, but in a anything happens to her I'll kill everyone in this server" kind of way

How he would tell Greek mythology stories to the eggs, but be the one person extremely against babysitting just to end up doing it a lot because of the insane amount of time he spends playing

Can't help but imagine how he would absolutely attempt presidential assassination against all the candidates and be completely against the federation without a doubt, and how he would've entered that dungeon left for them and absolutely destroyed it

Can't help but imagine Techno doing to forever the same thing he did whenever a baby zombie was near Philza

Can't help but wish the people who didn't get to know him outside of stories actually met him, and him talking to them with his bare knowledge of Spanish, and them reacting to the man himself talking about "blowing up a country" and "farming potatoes for +six months" or how "he once conquered the world" just to have them not believing it until Phil backed up the stories

Can't help but imagine a world where Tallulah didn't have to make an altar for him, and then i get back to reality to realize that... That's not the world where I live in, I live in the world where it's been more than a year since all of this possibilities became impossible and I feel genuinely hurt again, maybe more so over the thought of how much life he had ahead of himself, one that hurts me even more because he's the same age as my older brother

I like to wonder off in my mind sometimes, and imagine just for a bit of escapism, that he'd be giving Wilbur validation in his concerts, or that he would've bullied the life out of Dream when he did his face reveal, and also bullied Skeppy when he met up with bbh, or that he would've been in first line for Tommy's show

Technodad once mentioned on Reddit that Techno had been thinking of writing a story, and that too, would have been awesome to see, as much as all the plans he had and didn't get to do that I and all of his fans keep dreaming over

At the end, I think that the grief left in me, is over how much more time he should've had, over the future that we will never see

I'm sorry for this, I really just needed to vent, I don't want to sound disrespectful or anything really, just some thoughts I had inside of me and needed to get out, I'm sorry if it sounded weird or bad-

YES, i totally agree!! And it makes perfect sense that he feels that way, cuz Dennis does tend to embody a lot of common queer stereotypes from s1 all the way to s15... Way moreso than Mac ever has, imo. But its not so much that he felt like a plain caricature of those stereotypes (though obviously im not gonna act like in a lot of moments he's not being played up that way lol... 'boys are out tonight huh!?' but even Glenn admitted that was something he didn't want to be included in the episode as his character cuz it was "too broad" LMAO). He still feels like a character that has depth and is well-rounded, including those 'stereotypical' queer traits. So even before Glenn outright said that, it did feel like he had that mentality and I think that's also probably something that's gotten better with maturity lollll. But I was also rlly glad to hear him outright say that too, cuz it is, as you said, commonplace now for writers to keep trying to be "subversive" of stereotypes but that can backfire horribly and just make a lot of characters feel flat or inauthentic. So yeah it was rlly nice to hear that, and esp on the podcast which gets a lot of viewers.

And I do think that RCG are aware that there is a line they have to be be mindful of when it comes to how these characters' overall deviant nature might be perceived as being related to their queerness... Esp in the case of Dennis, and Mac as well. I think this concern was actually somewhat acknowledged in "The Janitor Always Mops Twice" (and tbh I'm surprised I haven't seen more analysis on this?? tho it definitely could've come up and just been purged at some point as a lot of s14 shit ended up being loll) because the way that episode framed not only Dennis, but Mac too, to fit into the "queer-coded villains" noir trope was--again, imo-- an acknowledgment of that. Like, they see the history of that trope in tv/film and how reductive it is. I think that the narrative is deeming that kind of characterization reductive because that episode is not told thru an objective POV, but it's filtered through Charlie's POV, and he clearly has some uh... complex feelings about his best friends' relationship and their respectively ambiguous and not-so-ambiguous sexualities LOL. But also in the past whenever a scene was through Charlie's POV (i.e. his flashback sequence in "Who Got Dee Pregnant?") it's been shown that he has pretty reductive views of the people in his life. Typically narrowing them down to a few traits, or saying shit that is very uh "ooc" (i.e. "yeah. dee inspired me. she said, "you're an awesome janitor, charlie. you can make this whole school slippery." I said, "sure, I'll give it my best shot." then she's, like, "let's be best friends." and I was, like, "sure, I'll give that my best shot, too." so we're best friends now.)... so... yeah. Plus, when you compare that episode's framing to the rest of s14 and that season's overall "oh god we're so afraid of fucking this all up" subtext (Thunder Gun 4, Right to Chop, Big Mo, etc.)... I definitely do think that's definitely a concern of theirs when it comes to that aspect of Dennis' writing as well LOL. and I think even they even sorta admitted to that dragging their feet on addressing Dennis' sexuality/his relationship with Mac as it has been the past couple of seasons in the s15 finale in a very on-the-nose way... ("oh, my god. It looks like he was dragging his feet back here. were you hanging on it?") lmaooo..

Anyway, what outfit is Frankie wearing in your half normie au? It's kinda hard to tell in some of your art. (They're wearing a tattered red sweater... I think).

Also! What body type did you give the main ghouls? I noticed Frankie has broader shoulders and draculaura is shorter and softer... Sorry if this is strange to ask. I'm just curious.

I didn't draw Frankie's outfit in full ever, but ur right their sweater is like stylistically tattered. And they've got split pants. One leg is a solid black and the other is their signature palid. But each side has a patch of fabric that matches the other leg. And I imagine theyre wearing like chunky black platforms of some-type for their shoes

When it comes to body types I dont really know what the names and what not for all that is? I know some people have got pears and apples, but Idk I wouldnt know how to point that out to you my brain just doesnt see the pattern for those terms. I did though find this an interesting question so I went back over and did sketches over some of the designs I did.

And I thought it'd be fun to expand on why I went with the ideas I did

for the first five I did I didn't really put a ton of thought into it? I really just went with my gut. Frankie and Lagoona actually have pretty similar body types, with more "masculine" frames ie wider shoulders, flat chests, and narrower hips. Plus theyre both long limbed and a bit lanky. Theyre both a play on a square. When you look at square shaped characters you tend to view them as "sturdier" whether that be literally or emotionally. For Frankie that's square shape is fake. They aren't a very sturdy person, they're new to everything and always on the verge of tripping over their own feet but they WANT to be sturdy. Meanwhile Lagoona is a very confident person! She's comfortable in her own scales. I also wanted Lagoona to have more of a "swimmer's" body cuz, ya know. She's a fish.

I don't have much to say on the other three. Draculaura's body type was inspired by my own, but it's not exactly like mine either, I'm not as short as her lol. Clawdeen has a fuller figure as well, but she's a very active person so a lot of that is actually just muscle.

Cleo is the most generic of the group lol.

Spectra was the next character I actively tried to design, and for her I kinda leaned into her canon monster high body type. Primarly cuz I really wannted to make her look like a y2k girl with the lowrise boot cut jeans and little ballet flats. fun fact tho! I also really wanted to lean into her being a more sharped edged person with the only exception being her round face, and this is to accentuate the type of character she is! At least, my version of Spectra is meant to be a bit more antagonistic. She does mean things without fully thinking through the consequences of her actions and how they might affect the people around her. She can be pretty self serving. But that's not to say she is unfriendly or that people don't like her.

and here obviously is my most recent line up lol.

Much like Cleo I honestly did not put much of any thought into Ghoulia's actual body type.Her pose I did somewhat though, I wanted her to slouch a bit and look kind of droopy.

For Venus and Rochelle I had opposing strategies for both characters. For Venus I wanted to make her very sharp edged and punk, Just overall I wanted her monster type and personality to really come across. And i like the idea of her being pretty muscle-y actually ngl. Rochelle I tried to go for a more "pear" shaped body? Which with the pose and clothing choice I feel gets lost a bit. I like the idea of her having a very soft and rounded silhouette to contrast the whole... spikey rock monster thing lol.

Abbey being giant and thick just makes sense to me imo, but also I really wanted to lean into rounder shapes to contrast the first impression she usually gives people. That whole Cold, Stoic, and Mean impression people get from her isn't true, in reality Abbey is quite friendly and sweet once you actually get to know her.

1 turn pc on and open sai

2 stare at the white sheet for half an our

3 play genshin impact for six hours

4 turn pc off

5 turn it on the next day

6 (optional) get inspired by lil' kids / braindead antis / just your regular hatefull dumbdumbs' comments under your previously posted art (for OMG ships)

7 scroll through pinterest to find a pose that doesn't look too boring for you to try to draw

good thing you're smart enough to save them for the future just to nevere actually ever draw any of them

8 toss the picked pose into your beloved white sheet and idk maybe trace it? just to understand wtf is going on and how to mimic it

9 move your trac… kheM KHEM construction tip to the side and while looking at it and at the ref try your best to copy the pose as believable as you can

(make sure to do it on millioms or at least couple of layers just cause you're insecure indecisive baby who has no idea wtf he's doing and wants an option to make some changes without completely fucking up everything more than he already did by opening sai in the first place)

10 clean the lines the best you can

(bonus task - do it on duplicated layers of your sketch, cause, remember, you're scared baby)

11 color it as lazy as you can, just so you can always excuse your not knowing wft you're doing by "oh yeah it was just a low effort confident fast shit and not me being as unskilled as it possible for human being haha"

wright siblings au thoughts i stowed away for a while

aka if thalassa actually came back for 1yo apollo in kurain and brought him back to the us

wanted to draw a few of these but lost steam :’)

*after jove's death - before thalassa's death

-unable to hide babypollo from the troupe -> only the troupe knew abt thalassa misadventure with jove in kurain

-note: would thalassa have a picture of jove? if not then soj would end terribly (i think, if thalassa doesn't show herself as trucy and apollo's mother)

-note 2: altho in aj, polly might vaguely recognize lamiroir,, or does he pull a kazuma asogi v ryunosuke naruhodo dgs2 and remembers her but doesn't say anything. then maybe at the end of aj phoenix, after persuading lamiroir to get eye surgery, introduce again polly and truce to their mother

-note 3: would thalassa at least tell apollo abt jove? research (if she does then there will be consequences down the line)

-polly would be an infant when he met zak/troupe -> maybe no resentment but not that close (knew little magician tricks here and there because maybe he's a little assistant)

-polly prob super attached to thalassa? because the singing part? and idk he got a few months listening to jove and thalassa music so infant polly kinda like that?

•wary of taking apollo as his employee because of his (new) surname: wright (and polly might leak some of his nefarious intentions to phoenix)

•but because of kristoph and phoenix weird power struggle/toxic relationship, he's forced to take apollo in

•prob see this also as an opportunity to influence apollo and get close to phoenix (by asking too many personal questions about family life and bringing suspicious gifts for apollo to pass on to phoenix)

•is very proud of apollo being kinda like him through working with him (because apollo also looks up to kris as the coolest defense in the west?)

-holy shit seeing your (very loving and good) dad being arrested and detained and go on trial must be traumatizing for apollo lol

-recess with trucy: apollo thinks his sister is acting kinda weird (being all mysterious like in aa4 at first) before being her usual self and maybe he makes an offhand question like "where did you find this? are you sure this is legit?" and trucy kinda sidesteps the question like "daddy just told me to give it to you so i'm sure it is" and apollo's bracelet reacts slightly (maybe, might not happen like this)

-after trial: apollo reacts the same as og aa4, with the additional layer of 'oh god my dad helped me get a job working for a murderer did he actually know it seems like he knew'

-conversation with phoenix (i like to think that trucy is also here because then she’ll also have to think about her daddy using her through the ace and doubting whether his intentions are good or not): apollo now opens with 'wtf did you push me to kristoph?? did you endanger me by making me work for a fucking murderer' and phoenix is avoiding the question by just saying that 'you'll know in time' and apollo is fucking pissed but then phoenix also discloses about the forgery and oh boy apollo is now so mad that he punches phoenix super hard and storms out, not after saying 'don't know why i even trust you to begin with, phoenix' (trucy kinda looks at phoenix a bit differently too)

-apollo either moves out or doesn't attend family stuffs for 2 months? but still talks to trucy (avoiding the whole forging thing), just not phoenix

-apollo returns after trucy’s text of helping/joining the wright talent agency and apollo freaks out like ‘wtf where did this come from? why are you establishing an agency? do you even know how to do paperwork and pay taxes?’ and trucy’s just ‘oh daddy was going to open the wright and co law office again but you couldn’t help out so i pitched in a few ideas and decided to turn it into the wright talent agency, and since i came up with the idea, i’m now the ceo! you’re welcome to join us (daddy’s our pianist and i’m obviously the magician) but then we’ll have to change it into the wright anything agency’

-apollo: uh trucy? where’s dad?

-trucy (is she chipper about this in og? if so then same but apollo knows she’s not fine): oh he’s in the hospital because he was hit by a car and was sent flying and hit a streetlight but he only got a scratch

-apollo: wtf???

-scene with phoenix in hospital + trucy asking to find her panties (in this case apollo knows wtf it is) + eldoon noodles (apollo recognizes him as he also ate there with trucy and phoenix during 7yg) i believe is the same as aa4 with the added apollo absolutely despising phoenix inner monologue

-ema meeting is the same since phoenix doesn’t discuss his past cases with them

-klavier meeting though,,, if apollo wasn’t there during the disbarment case then the same as aa4, if he was then he prob vaguely remembers klavier but still the same as aa4 (klavier doesn’t notice shit)

-here’s the sticky part: does phoenix introduce apollo and trucy to lamiroir as their mother aka thalassa? if not then continues as aa4 (which might result in phoenix getting punched again by apollo and distanced from trucy for keeping them from the knowledge that their mother is still alive, which i love more). if yes though, then they’re also pissed since phoenix prob knew since serenade and chose not to tell them but in later games they just know and maybe slowly reunite with thalassa (they need time considering how long they thought their mother was dead, especially apollo since he was even traumatized by her death)

-(i don’t remember much so just the highlights that affects the character arc)

-clay plot dev:

•immediately: trucy and apollo are both shocked and sadden since they are close, but apollo is in mourning since he was his best friend. phoenix is just serious but doesn’t seem sad (probably piecing together with miles for the blackquill case)

•apollo distances himself from the waa because of athena and his ability causing him too much pain (trucy prob gets little headaches whenever she’s with athena because goddamnit she also has the ability, it’s just not amplified by the bracelet)

•when trucy encounters apollo investigating alone, she senses that he’s lying every time because he keeps dodging questions/lying about his intentions

•when apollo shows up as a witness to accuse athena, he apologizes to trucy (and athena? basically if he said sorry then it’s to who it was in aa5 + trucy) but his doubts are too big to ignore (and his pursuit of the truth is undying) and this is the only way to clear his doubts and bring justice to clay

-apollo attacked: trucy freaks out and traumatized when apollo got hurt trying to protect juniper and freaks out more when he got attacked for going back to the scene because holy shit her brother is badly hurt and might die and he’s her only family besides phoenix and he’s been by her side since forever and she can’t afford to loose him holy fuck. phoenix is pretty concerned since uhh apollo is his son??

•trucy def felt more abandoned because of apollo’s action afterwards (if he actually does take a leave of absence) and concerned about him

-everything else is the same as aa5??

-(can’t comment on the dlc case since i haven’t seen/played it)

*overall notes/stuffs to think about later:

-trucy calls apollo ‘apollo’ more often as she gets more close and affectionate and ‘polly’ when she’s being manipulative (according to the localization) (evident when she along with phoenix try to convince apollo to take up the case in 4-2)

-does apollo go by his full name of apollo gramarye/apollo wright later on? or does he just go by apollo until he knows his birth father’s last name? since it’s a blank slate devoid of scandals?

-apollo’s distrust of phoenix carries through the rest of the series

-did trucy forge the evidence (way more complicated feelings/motive that might not fit)? or phoenix (easier to figure out but might not have the same angst oomph)

-phoenix is a good and loving dad to both trucy and apollo. just in terms of roles in his plan to get undisbarred, apollo is severely ignored and used (trucy also but she has a bigger role)
