for a character to be "of all time" they need to have smth that distinguishes them from the usual archetype they fulfill in an insane as fuck way. they need to leave you reeling with their every life choice. and those choices are always in character which increases the degree of insanity.

Yandere Savanaclaw Headcanons
Tw: Dark content up ahead y’all!! Mentions of manipulation, gaslighting, possessiveness, etc.
Banner made by my lovely bestie @herestrish don’t steal pls or I’ll eat your kneecaps, I’m entering my Hannibal era <3! Jokes aside. . . disclaimer!!
These are my interpretations of his/her/their persona and none of these is 100% accurate. I don’t condone any of these actions in real life and all of this is purely fictional and should be taken as such! Underage characters will ONLY be given SFW headcanons, please respect this decision. If these headcanons sound dry. . .I’ll redo them I’m sorry I was tired
Tumblr media
Leona Kingscholar
Okiedoki, these headcanons were WAY long overdue and me being the chaotic and messy person I am, did not plan these ahead nor did I make a posting schedule. Without further ado, here we go! Can you name a bigger kin? Leona is me and I am Leona. From what I’ve seen in the fandom, Leona seems to be a personality that not many people differ from. Like it’s all collectively and mutually agreed on how he acts. Regardless, the character traits I assign him are overprotective, possessive, and manipulative.
No one here can argue that Leona isn’t smart, mans is brilliant only issue being he lacks motivation. Assuming I got all my facts straight, he’s smart and talented and has all amazing qualities, but it doesn’t matter because he’s not the firstborn. His signature spell is so dangerous, he’s constantly being upstage because name and reputation matter more than actions. Not to his darling, he’s possessive over his S/O because you’re his. You’re not someone given to him because of his status or lack of, you’re his because you were able to charm the lion and gain his affection. You’re his because he won, he won YOUR affection. All hell will break loose if someone DARES to even touch you, looks at you wrong, or do anything to hurt you. He’ll often refer to you as one of his belongings but words aside, he really does see you as his equal. This ties in with his overprotectiveness and his overall fear of losing the one person that matters in his life, you.
Manipulative. Though he wants a fair game, mans is cheating. He’s not above using dirty methods to get you to be his in the first place. He’s probably gaslit you before and you wouldn’t know. He’s smart and he has Ruggie, this is important. He’d probably disagree with you and advise you to do something else, when you decide to go off on your own he’ll send Ruggie to stir up the pot but not right away no, that’s too convenient! He’ll wait until you have a sense of security before striking, when things go downhill and you come back to him he won’t smile, he won’t say anything other than, “I told you so.” He’s so smug about it too, that smirk when he’s in the right and you’re in the wrong.
I’d say personally, he’s a 7/10 on the yandere scale, he’s definitely not someone you want to mess with and by all means half of the time it’s him just being protective. Bro’s the type of guy to help you study but not before he makes you give him a kiss or fuel his ego for a bit. He’s able to lower his guard around you, sleep comfortably with you, and laze around, just don’t get too comfy. Any signs he notices of defiance and he’s not afraid to show you why the others respect him. His scale may increase if he’s angry, he’d never hurt his S/O but the others?
Ruggie Bucchi
I don’t know much about Ruggie just because he’s not a character I was very interested in but he’s so funny. Getting straight into it, possessive, manipulative, and overprotective. He’s not a threat, a solid 4/10. I happen to remember that Ruggie was raised by his grandmother and that in book 4 went back home with a lot of food because the kids in his home didn’t have enough. Ruggie has a good heart, it’s just hard to get him to trust someone else because of it. I like to this that his S/O is someone who was able to remind him that it’s okay to be selfish just as much as it is important to be selfless. With that in mind, I think Ruggie being possessive over his S/O is reasonable. Ruggie keeps things that matter to him close, that includes you, babes!! Just as he steals anything else, he stole your heart. Your safety and security matter a lot to him, maybe not at first but as time goes on it’s his first priority. I’ll be honest, Ruggie is a fun person to be around. His jokes and his mannerism are sure to make you smile along with his good heart.
Furthering into his possessiveness, I like to think he gets super jealous when his S/O is with someone else or not having their attention on him. Someone approaches you and asks you to have lunch with them or to study, Ruggie gets pouty and gives you the silent treatment. You’d ask him something and this man will be so petty. “I don’t know, why don’t you ask [Student Name]” or “I don’t know, you seemed to have more fun with them so I don’t want to disturb you”. That kind of petty. He won’t lie, he loves the attention he gets from you. You desperately trying to make it up to him because you NEED him. That being said, he’s a pain in your ass but he’s saved it multiple times. I like to think that Ruggie is that person who at the start of it tries to show that he doesn’t care. The type to flee when you’re in danger or not help because there is nothing to gain until he catches feelings. Slowly saying things like, “Well, we can work out the details of my reward later. . .” or “It’s whatever, I owe you anyways”. He gives off mammon vibes, just not a simp.
As time goes on and he and his S/O start to get closer, he’d be more willing to help you and do things for you. Manipulative, it kinda rubs off on him from Leona tbh. I know for a fact Ruggie knows some underhanded moves to get what he wants, at first he’ll play with your heartstrings, being pouty and petty. If that doesn’t work he’ll get annoyed and just flat-out ignore you. He’s not going to grovel and beg, he’s done plenty of that already. He’s going to make you beg for his attention and his help. The type to pull your hair in class and pull pranks, having the teacher find you and scold you while ignoring Ruggie. Unrightfully giving you detention as he looks the other way. As you’re sitting and doing your boring work, he pops in for a second and just mocks you.
He’s kinda like Ace just a bit toned down! He’s not a dangerous yandere just an annoying one but you should be alright with him!
Jack Howl
Jack gets two, over-protective and possessive. He’s not a dangerous yandere either, like a 3/10? He’s a character with morals and without a doubt, genuine love and concern for his S/O. I know he means well and he does, he’s a super sweet yandere!
Jack is most definitely a protector. As we saw in the game, at first he didn’t seem to want to do a whole lot with us until we got to book 2. He’s super loyal and caring, qualities that his S/O loves and respects as does he. If you’re ever being picked on or bullied, Jack is on the case! He’s going off on them, saying how it’s so cowardly of them to pick on someone who can’t defend themselves. Do you need a walk home? Jack will do it! Do you need some help with an assignment? He doesn’t know much, but he’s down to help you learn better! He’s a sincere lover who cares a lot, and he’s possessive. I feel like Jack at first would hate his feelings. He has no right over you so why does he feel so upset when you’re talking to someone else? Did you find a new partner? You’re staying out late? Don’t you need him….? He shouldn’t feel like this, but he does! Jack would try to deny it at first, surely ir’s just admiration! I mean you did stand up to Leona after all and that takes some real guts!
Possessive. Once those feelings subside, he’s doing what he can to have your attention on him. Inviting him to all his spell drive practices, offering to help you with homework or the other way around. He just wants to protect you. Sure his presence can be suffocating to the point he’s a bit clingy, I mean I don’t think you’re gonna get attacked in line waiting for your food, but who knows? He’s always there, conveniently as well. Acts of service are one of his love languages, you need a book from the high shelf? He’s already on it. You don’t have a partner for the project? No worries neither does he. Leona and Ruggie notice his behavior, often teasing him but never going further. Jack is. . .how do I say this? Awkward. He is so awkward, the type to invite you out to eat and just eat in silence. The type to be content being in your presence so he doesn’t really do anything else. Give him time and he’ll be better, promise!

Audio Drama Sunday, 12/4/22
Yesterday was a long, big, busy Sunday, filled with some amazing audio dramas that I must share with all of you.
Dead Air, by Realm Media (created by Gwenda Bond) - If you like the true crime genre of podcasts, then a fictional version might just be up your alley. It's suspenseful, emotional, and filled with dark, dry humor. I've been devouring it recently, stopping just short of binging the entire thing in a single setting. I'm not a true crime fan, but I'm still hooked. If you liked Arden, I think you'll like this show.
Greater Boston, by Alexander Danner and Jeff Van Dreason - Humor, surrealism, quiet drama are all at the heart of Greater Boston. I know it's been around for a while and has a huge fandom but I'm excited that I get to experience this show for the first time six years after it started. Once I finish, I have a feeling I'll start the series over again without missing a beat.
A Ninth World Journal, by David S. Dear - The ultimate actual play turned audio drama, A Ninth World Journal episodes might be short but they are packed to the gills with content and keep you guessing as to what is going to happen next. David S. Dear is a fantastic narrator I've heard on several other shows at this point and it's wonderful to see him shine as the star.
Exoplanetary, by C. Christopher Heart - Managing to weave half a dozen sci-fi stories together in a nonlinear fashion without getting things too confusing is no easy task, but Exoplanetary as not only done just that, but thrived at it and keeps me coming back for new stories and new angles. It's filled with heart and emotion that stay with you long after the episodes is finished. From robotic love to colonialism to time travel, this show has it all.
Among the Stars and Bones, by Ungodly Hour Productions - Technically this will be my third listen but each time I get something more out of it, I feel more for the characters and understand their motivations. Telling a story from 8 or 9 limited viewpoints is a great way to employ the unreliable narrator, or as it happens, 8 or 9 unreliable narrators. I've seen recently that they are casting for season 2 and I cannot contain my excitement!
Old Gods of Appalachia, by DeepNerd Media - Folk horror, when done right, is better than any subgenre of any genre of literature, bar none. I will live and die on this hill. Old Gods does folk horror the right way. There's mood and atmosphere, a sense of place and a sense of dread. The show will have you jumping at shadows and creepy noises down by the creek at the witching hour.
The Town Whispers, by Cole Weavers - While similar to Old Gods of Appalachia, The Town Whispers takes cosmic horror and turns it up to 11 alongside all the folk horror that creeps around the edges of the Fort. The story telling is sharp and a sense of doom and dread purvey every word Mr. Weavers speaks. It's beautiful and chilling and leaves me needing more.
Malevolent, by Harlan Guthrie - It's a simple premise, guy wakes up unable to see with a creepy voice in his head that is not his own. Oh also there's a dead body, also there are monsters running around, oh also lots of creepy books, oh also it's set in the heart of Lovecraft Country. What could go wrong? I'm late to the party on the fandom for this show but as I work through the episodes I see why the fandom has exploded Hannibal style all over Tumblr.
Hi Nay, by Motzi Dapul - What if the Magnus Archives were less focused on Eurocentric monsters and fears and entities? What if there was a less organized group of people going after them? What if all of it was recorded lo-fi and given a health dose of Filipino folklore? Well, you'd have Hi Nay and you'd sweep the internets with a new, obsession worthy podcast that teaches as much as it entertains. Also they are working on getting 1000 subs on Youtube so get on that people!
The Kingmaker Histories, by Meg Molloy Tuten - Made by the same geniuses that brought us Less is Morgue, this audio drama gives us a glimpse at a steampunk world filled with magic. I enjoyed the first episode immensely. The acting, the script, the sound design are all top notch. Have to say I love this Ariadne character, she seems nice.
Moonbase Theta, Out, by D.J. Sylvis - Dystopian futures, corrupt governments, sinister warnings about the moon. Sounds like a typical day in 2022, right? Moonbase Theta, Out was and is ahead of its time in terms of storytelling, narratives, and characters. It's really a who's who in the world of audio drama with "famous" voices popping in and out to voice characters that will make you do the Leo pointing meme at least twice and episode.
WOE.BEGONE, by Dylan Griggs - Part surrealist sci-fi, part existential horror, WOE.BEGONE is a show that makes me want to run away screaming whilst at the same time binging more and more episodes. How deep does this creepy, deadly game go? What is the point of it all? Will Mike just be able to relax and have a nice time? I need to know!!!
And 195, by Guendalina Cilli - I just found out about this audio drama yesterday and I'm already a fan. I'm a runner with a bad sense of direction myself so the basis of the show is very, very familiar to me (aside from getting lost in other dimensions, that's not familiar but you never know in these days).
We Fix Space Junk, by Battle Bird Productions - Dystopian space dramas are a trope for a reason, but We Fix Space Junk manages to avoid the pitfalls and enjoy all the benefits of said trope. It's fresh, fun, and exciting. I've decided it was time for a re-listen to see what things I missed out on in the beginning that are integral parts of the show by the end. I'm already having a blast!
Care & Feeding of Werewolves, by Brenna Anderson-Dowd - What if True Blood were a sitcom, but far better than the sum of those two parts? What if it were funny and informative, silly and meaningful? You'd have Care & Feeding of Werewolves and you'd enjoy every single episode of this weird little show, and I do mean that endearingly. If it weren't weird, it wouldn't be nearly as fun.

HANNIBAL
I find it funny that I haven't gotten down to watch the series earlier. The picture I used for the post, the most horrifyingly magnificent image from the series, is something that's been hanging on my wall for years, whilst I had no idea it was from the series, so you can imagine my pleasant surprise, when I saw it on the screen.
But to the series.
Of course I had to go down the rabbit hole of hannibal fandom on tumblr and though it doesn't surprise me that people are still rooting for season 4, I myself cannot identify with the sentiment.
Why? Because for once I'm not yearning for more. The story, for once, and for once in the longest while, feels complete. The story said everything it had to say, not less, not more, just enough. Usually, when I finish something that has such hold on my heart, I tend to go through everything concerning it, from youtube, tumblr to pinterest and fanfictions. I need to re-immerse myself in that particular story universe, exhaust it and enjoy it more. But for some reason, in case of Hannibal, I had no such inclination, even despite loving every second of the story.
I was trying to discern the reasons for that, since it's so unusual in my case. I think it's because it feels so intimate, as if I shouldn't interfere, only feel happy I was able to observe and enjoy it from afar. Maybe, the closer Hannibal and Will got, the bigger the distance between them and the viewer got. Gosh, I'll never cease to admire the intimacy the writers managed to create between the characters, it's such a rare sight really.
But back to the premise of this post - why there never should be a fourth season? The series have its charm precisely because it ended the way it did. If there was season four, things would have to be said explicitely, would have to be elaborated on, which would straight up collide with the whole motive of the series - the motive of unsaid and untangible.
We never get to feel Will's emotions, the minds of the killers, Hannibal's apetite, none of it. Nothing is said directly, only in a roundabout, concealed fashion of metaphors and similes. The magic would be completely lost if anything ever crossed the threshold of explicit.
And the creators made it abundantly clear in the final episode. It all came together: the "see?", the beauty, both of them, their relationship to themselves and also one another. It was the ultimate ending, phenomenally tied together. We know they survived and we shouldn't know more than that. Those three series have been a foreplay of intimacy between those two, can you imagine how intimate the fourth one would have to be? It would straight up feel like imposing, like breaking into someone's home to watch them change their dirty underwear.
The story, the chracters we knew, the era they went through, ended there and everything beyond is a story for another time, story unseen by anyone, their very own story.
I pray there will never ever be season four, let the sleeping beasts lie.

fic tag game
got tagged by @burntblueberrywaffles. thank you <333 doing this while i'm in a good mood lol.
How many works do you have on Ao3? 31 published ones (i have deleted at least 1 and orphaned 4 or something).
2. What's your Ao3 word count? 161,653 in total.
3. What fandoms do you write for? wednesday (the latest one), some kdramas, and i have also written for ouat and hannibal. back on lj, i used to write a lot for house md.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Slow, Long, and Excruciatingly Painful (Wednesday (TV 2022))
You Have Shrunk to the Size of My Thoughts (Wednesday (TV 2022))
I Predict a Riot (Wednesday (TV 2022)
Stop (Wednesday (TV 2022))
I Carried You for Aching (Crash Landing on You)
5. Do you respond to comments? yes! comments always make me happy and i appreciate readers who take the time to drop comments, so i want to take the time to respond to them.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? maybe... Stop (wednesday)?
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? omg, i just realized most of my fics end happily, so idk what to pick lol. but maybe either I Carried You for Aching (crash landing on you) or Magic Hours (memories of the alhambra) because they're both fix-it fics where i resurrect a character from literal and figurative canon death lol.
8. Do you get hate on fics? i'm not sure i can call it a full-on hate, but someone got snippy under one of my "wednesday" fics once. i already deleted it because it made me upset but i still remember what it said and who it was from because i'm a libra and petty, lol.
9. Do you write smut? What kind? when i think smut is needed in a story, i will write it. not an expert, though, so i tend to write super vanilla smut scenes lol.
10. Do you write cross-overs? no, because i don't really read cross-overs, so i don't write it.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? yes. my old house x cameron (house md) fic that was posted on lj got translated to italian.
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? no.
13. What WIP you would like to finish, but doubt you ever will? i talked about it before. the first line is still incomplete, and it goes like this:
"Three goddesses walked into a cave. The monster who lived in it asked,"
the monster is tyler galpin. i doubt i will ever write it because i don't have the motivation right now and i need a lot of motivation to write it, because the story is supposed to be kind of... filthy lol.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship? oh, oh, dear. umm. for now, i will choose philip x elizabeth from "the americans" because the show is already ending and it's a happy one, sort of.
15. What are your writing strengths? i'm basing this entirely on comments i got, lol. i think it's my prose? feel free to refute this, lol.
16. What are your writing weaknesses? i can't write long fics. so far, the longest one i've written "only" has 7 chapters.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? why not?
18. First fandom you wrote for? ig the first one i religiously wrote for is house md (house x cameron). but the last time i checked on these fics, i completely, utterly forgot the plots etc lol. i don't think i want to associate myself with them anymore.
19. Favourite fic you've ever written? maybe i will choose my wednesday x tyler "practical magic" au, I Put a Spell on You, because it's my longest one so far and i'm proud to have finished it. and not sure it's my favorite, but Oh God, I Think I'm Falling (wednesday) has the longest smut scene i've done so far, and i had fun writing that part, so.
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day? none, i think.
i'd like to tag @badmoodbatflowers, @cosmic-lullaby @nouklea, @transitat, @therulerofallpotatos & of course anyone who wants to do this.

What if Xiaolin Showdown in Season 4?
You mean how I’d envision it might be?
Season 3 is kind of hard to follow since so many characters got so suddenly flanderized or derailed. Some were for the sake of speeding up the competition, but even Jack and Wuya got turned into jokes. A lot of earlier buildup also sort of leads nowhere, so I guess I’d want to pick up the things it dropped?
Tumblr media
The monks would get their personalities and strengths back for sure, especially Kimiko and Clay.
Maybe Kimiko, Clay, and Omi get to have some emotional payoff over trying their hardest but not being chosen. I think letting them be a bit heartbroken or disappointed for a bit and then cheer each other up like back in the season 1 finale would be nice. Maybe even fit in an in-universe reason why they were so out-of-sorts for a whole season. Maybe the competition was getting to them and made them not at their best?
Jack and Wuya would get their personalities back.
Wuya would get to be an actual conniving villainness again, even though her powers are still sealed.
Jack would either continue the arc hinted at from seasons 1 and 2 where he might join the Xiaolin side or he comes into his own as a villain, but certainly not... whatever season 3 was doing with him.
Jack would also go back to winning more occasionally, since it being a tossup whether the Heylin and Xiaolin would win was always fun and Jack has the best record on the Heylin side for showdowns.
Jermaine would come back and be a permanent member of the roster now. Either as the token normal or as the Dragon of Wood. That should happen in the first episode. Shake up the dynamic, give them a new equal Wudai warrior.
Each season usually introduces a new big bad to be the overarching force, but I’d say stick with Hannibal for a Season 4, since he ended up not getting to actually do much overarching stuff in Season 3 despite his strong introduction.
In fact, I’d say that the growing interpersonal conflicts and power struggles among the entire Heylin side would be a good arc villain. Hannibal being unsealed should get to shake up way more than it did in season 3. There might even be some brief “The enemy of my enemy” episodes setups.
There’d definitely be at least one heist episode, since there’s probably at least one Shen Gong Wu that’s currently in a museum. Raimundo jots up a plan to sneak in and rob the British museum, but Katnappe also has a plan to do so. Hijinks ensue.
Jesse would get to have at least one return cameo, and Clay would get a proper focus episode, since he got absolutely none in season 3. Clay should get multiple focus episodes, in fact.
Keiko would finally be seen in person during an episode set in Japan, and Kimiko would get a proper focus episode where she gets to have agency in solving the problem. Her focus episode in season three was pretty lacking in that department.
At least one mom would show up. Either Kimiko’s or Clay’s or Raimundo’s. If there’s going to be family episodes, might as well shake things up.
Chase and Omi’s relationship would definitely develop more, that’s one of the throughlines we can follow straight from season 3.
Omi is renewed and invigorated in his efforts to reach Chase because of how much he learned about Chase from the finale and their big moments there.
Chase has even more new angles to play mind games with Omi from, since Omi is not only wasn’t chosen but had a whole episode where the good guys he trusted gaslit him, beat him black and blue, and then laughed it off.
They’re both pretty stubborn, so I don’t know if I’d say it’d get closure in the season, but it’d definitely move forward and have them teaming up more, even if they note that it always ends without a final solution to their arrangement.
Chase’s conflict with Hannibal would get focus and get to amount to something.
We’d finally see some glimpse of the “fate worse than 1000 years of darkness” that Chase mentioned Hannibal wanted to bring about.

i've said similar before (as have countless others on here before me) but i'm taking a moment to say this again:
IT'S OKAY TO LIKE MEAN/BAD/HORRIBLE AND EVEN JUST DOWNRIGHT PURE EVIL CHARACTERS
and i think it's wildly stating the obvious to say the following but apparently there are still some folks who need to hear it:
CHARACTERS AND THE STORIES THAT THEY'RE FROM ARE NOT REAL; THEY ARE ALL MADE UP BECAUSE STORIES ARE MAKE-BELIEVE AND CRAFTED FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT
irl, i seriously dislike mean people. i despise bullies. i can't think of anything worse than a person who does 'evil' deeds to others and enjoys it. granted, i can at times end up feeling sorry for some of these arseholes bc a lot of the time there are genuine reasons for their poor behaviour; sadness/trauma/mental illness/etc. but that isn't me dismissing that behaviour, i'm just trying to have some understanding and empathy for their suffering because it's clear that it's effecting their humanity, y'know? it's often a sad reality, but does not mean i would excuse a person treating others badly.
STORIES ARE NOT REALITY
the characters from the books/tv show/movie/play/podcast etc that you like are not real. they are dreamt up to help us learn lessons from a young age, to make us laugh at their stupidity, to help us see that those who have found themselves on a dark path are mostly there because something terrible happened to them. these characters are brought to life for us in sometimes terrible forms—those truly dreadful villains—to help us work vicariously through emotions we all suffer with from time to time, the irrational feelings we can have of revenge or world domination lol. there is anger that we, as a race, all have to deal with, intrusive thoughts that we all sometimes struggle with. when we feel ourselves wanting the badguys in the movies to win, it can help us to manage these kinds of real life feelings we suffer, and it might mean we can learn how to deal better.
it's like wanting to punch someone. i would personally never actually want to do that—but occasionally as humans we might feel like we want to.
DOING THINGS LIKE USING A PUNCHBAG OR AGGRESSIVELY CHOPPING WOOD CAN BE THE SAME KIND OF REPLACEMENT ACTIVITY AS ENJOYING A MORALLY BAD CHARACTER. IT IS TAKING A FEELING AND RELEASING IT SAFELY WITHOUT DOING ANYBODY ANY ACTUAL HARM
also, none of us are perfect creatures! none of us. liking a bad or morally grey character can sometimes be because you might see some of their toxic traits in yourself, and feel better about the fact that even though you have faults, at least you're not as bad as they are. or maybe you know somebody like the character, someone who—even though their actions are wrong and you don't agree with them—has had a terrible life and you have some understanding of why they behave in the way they do. maybe the character helps you understand that person more and have more empathy for them and others like them?
AND SOMETIMES BAD GUYS ARE JUST GOOD FUN
baddies get to do the things we sometimes wish we could! who doesn't occasionally wish they could do a michael douglas d-fens in falling down?! or have the whole world kneel at their feet as loki does?! or be so be clever and cunning you can get away with any criminal plan you damn well choose like james moriarty?!
even the 'pure evil' characters in media are written so that we love to hate them, otherwise we wouldn't care about what happens to them, and caring about the story and it's characters is the whole point. and even if you just wholeheartedly love them—like you completely adore those vile bastards, regardless of all their evil deeds—that's okay! they're not real. just because you enjoy a character like hannibal lecter doesn't necessarily mean you want to murder and eat people, you just like a character who does terrible things because they have been written to be liked.
IT IS ENTIRELY NORMAL TO BE ENVIOUS OF AND/OR SIMPLY ENJOY A VILLAIN, BECAUSE THERE ARE SHADOWS AND REFLECTIONS OF OURSELVES, ALL OF US, HOWEVER BIG OR SMALL, IN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM
so, the paramount thing to remember is:
VILLAINS AND BADDIES AND MEANIES IN MEDIA ARE! NOT! REAL! THEY ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY FINE TO ENJOY THEM BECAUSE THAT IS THE VERY THING THEY WERE CREATED FOR
anyway, thank you for coming to my ted — *gets shot by the bad guy*

A friend of mine says Clara Oswald is not a real character so much as a function or catalyst for the Doctor's arc, and that it's sexist because it perpetuates a stereotype where the woman is there only to help the guy.
And my friend is right. I spent all day yesterday thinking about why I love Clara, and apart from her wit and confidence, I could only come up with things that relate her to the Doctor. If that is not the definition of exactly this stereotype, then I don't know what is.
I also know the harm this stereotype has done in the world, to men and women and multiforms alike. I'm living it, and seeing it around me wherever I go. And yet I still love Clara, and the relationship between Clara and Twelve. I guess this is what 'problematic fave' means.
But I think there is more to it for me, and I don't really know how to categorise it yet. Because we have the exact same dynamic between John and Sherlock in 'Sherlock', which is also a Moffat thing, and I loved that one as well.
So let's take a look at why I love it so much, and maybe how it can be done better.
- There is not a shred of romantic or sexual attraction between Clara and Twelve, and yet their relationship is as focused on each other and as intense as a romance, maybe even more so. And that is such a rare find that my asexual little brain soaks it up like a dried-out sponge.
And yes, that is different from all the same-sex relationships that should have been romances but weren't because asshole execs said no. If you don't know the difference, I can't help you.
- None of their attraction is based on physical appearances whatsoever. Clara has difficulties accepting Twelve's old looking face at first, and Twelve cannot even tell how old Clara looks, let alone finds her physically attractive in any way. Their relationship is not based on looks at all, and it soothes fears I didn't know I still had.
- They change each other in fundamental ways. Whatever you might say about Clara, you cannot deny that she becomes more like the Doctor with every episode. It is made very explicit in the show itself, in 'Flatline' and 'Death in Heaven', where even the intro is changed to reflect it. She even gets her own TARDIS and companion in the end. And I think we already covered how Clara's function is to change the Doctor.
I don't care if the change is for the better or not. I enjoy a toxic codependency in fiction probably even more than a healthy one (and one day I probably get into that). I care about the scope and intensity of the change, and that it is mutual. When you change each other on a fundamental level, you have the strongest bond I can imagine, and it gets me every time. The more fundamental the change, the more I love the dynamic, whatever it looks like. Which is also why I love Twelve and Missy so much, or John and Sherlock.
If there are 'Hannibal' fans reading this, you might recognize the pattern, and indeed, I was and still am a rabid 'Hannibal' fan. And what I said earlier about finding better examples of this dynamic, Will and Hannibal are it. They are both distinct characters in their own right, their arcs are equally important in the show, they are treated as two equal characters by TPTB instead of genius and companion, and they have all the things I love in a fictional relationship. (Though the Hannigram shippers may deny the romantic/sexual attraction thing, but I will die on that hill). To actively combat sexism and not just passively avoid it, make them female next time, yeah?
And yet, there are so few relationships out there that fit my id criteria, that I will gladly take my problematic faves and run with them, knowing full well what it means. Sue me for liking what I like, I guess.

1, 5, 7, 8, 4, 11 and 15 for the problematique ships??
oh wow, that's a lot! thank you!
1) what is your favorite “problematic” ship?
Brujay. It is very interesting to get their canon mutual weirdness - their relationship is a mess, it's not healthy - and bring it up to 11. Both because it's like magnifying what's already there, to make it easier to drive things home: none of them is okay and they should, in fact, stay away from each other despite the fact it wouldn't be that hard not just to reconcile but also to respect each other and be deserving of said respect.
It's also curious to me that a lot of Bruce's fan ships are actually... have similar vibes to brujay, minus the "I was his father for 3 years or so" factor. BatCat - I can write an essay about similarities between Jason and Catwoman, and Jason actually feels jealous and replaced by her, at some point in his Robin era. BruTalia, BruHarvey, GhostBat. Especially the GhostBat. It's literally brujay without the incest. Whereas Jason's ships are the opposite. Like, Sladejay comes close but no cigar.
5) a ship you like but can’t find content for because it’s a fanpol fave?
I am like Jaytemis but not enough to go looking. I actually blocked a lot of jaytemis fans because they were dicks in tag. and on some discord server, don't remember details.
7) what kind of “problematic” tropes you like to put your ships through?
Sex while willingly or unwillingly mentally impaired, such as by alcohol (taken willingly), drugs (taken unwillingly), interdimensional demon possession, and having heat while also having a traumatic brain injury. There's also having sex not because you want but for reasons. Proving a point. Trying to manipulate. Things like that.
I think I have about... two fics where a character has sex because they want to have sex, and it ends badly in the second one.
Basically the moral of my stories:
Tumblr media
In one of them, it was quite literal.
8) a character you think did nothing wrong but fandom demonizes?
Damian, easy. I find it irritating especially when he's used as Tim's foil. The little guy was brainwashed, and he still is dealing with the consequences of this trauma and his upbringing overall. It takes years to unpack it.
Talia - just leave her alone. "She traumatized Damian" - the authors did that. She was just a tool, and she was character-assassinated in the process. I mean, it is a bit wrong of her to be, like, in charge of an international murder organization but, we all know what the grip fandom has with her is not about that.
4) a ship you think is fairly healthy and unproblematic but the fandom has decided to hate?
JayRoy and joyfire holy shit. I know it stems, in part, from the hatred to New52 overall and Lobdell's RHatO in particular, and I hear them even if I don't care that much (I see jayroy potential even before New52, and after). But "stealing friends from Dick", "age difference", what the fuck else there was - just no. As long as Jason deals with his commitment issues and self-hatred, this is the healthiest relationship he has ever had with the exception of Artemis and Bizarro.
11) is there a fandom that ever made you think “how are there antis in this fandom, why are they even into this”?
Hannibal, Good Omens, and Sandman, to name a few. Curious that they think that if the creator has public acknowledgment it means that suddenly he's not proship anymore. Or if he is, that's okay, we won't be principled and leave/not join the fandom but rather go bully the proshippers who do not have money and fame.
Oh, and Game of Thrones/House of Dragons - while I don't know if Martin is proship, the subject matter he deals with is no more taboo than what fandom does. "I watch dragon incest show for the dragons, y'all weird" no it's you who's weird, you literally watching a show about incest and complaining about incest. "it's not glorified in canon" That's cute, you sure it is in fics? you read them? you read incest fics? Like, come on.
15) something cool about the last thing you watched/read/listened to!
Last thing I listened to was this youtube comics podcast: Grandpas reading comics (eng subs are only auto-translated so bear with it)
youtube
It's about Ukrainian comics, The Will, and as a person who has two issues of this comic book and no idea of what's going on, I was glad to find out this video exist. I did not finish watching it yet tho - so I still have no idea what's going on - I will keep you guys posted. After I buy the issue 3, maybe.

K, L and Y 😀
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc? Mhmhm... okay I'm gonna go with Succession because of reasons. My favorite arc development is the 'un-succession' itself, how none of the kids got to sit at the head of Waystar. Like for a time I was actually rooting for Kendall, really thought the story had to circle itself by letting him get the throne. It was obvious Shiv would never get it, Roman as the metaphor of the dog grew throughout the whole series made it clear too that he wouldn't get it, not by even the 'closest' to Logan. And Con, well, babygirl <3 In terms of the best one, it had to be Tom and Greg. They went up on top of everything, almost going to jail, committing white-collar crimes together, and then playing along Matsson's game better than the sibs did. And the fact that Tom got to succeed Logan and anoint Greg in the process, god, chef's kiss.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.) Okay, here I'm gonna talk about one of my forever favorites: The Leftovers: Patti Levin. If you watched it you'll know why I may hate her. If not, well, to sum-up she's a manipulative woman, meddling around people's lives and full of shit for a cult that has no sense at all, no logic, but it managed to survive mostly by her pulling the strings. And OMG, it's just brilliant. I was younger when I watched the whole series, and always felt terrible when she played with Kevin's mind, prodding in and making everything go to shit. She's despicable because Ann Dowd is incredibly brilliant playing her. Who's she? Well, she also appeared on The Handmaiden on another similar terrifying character as well as she did on Hereditary as Annie's mother' cult-friend. Yeah, Dowd is quite something portraying a cult person.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)? I'll say Doctor Who, Supernatural (which is kinda like Hannibal? it seems to keep going no matter what? but Hannibal is THE SHIT) and Dr. House? Sometimes those fandoms pop up on my dash and I'm like... okay people good for you <3
thank you for asking @reidoxreader <3

I thought I was the only one who thinks Loustat's romance is as dry as a desert. I don't know whether is the direction or the cinematography or writing or whatever the fuck. I see all this sex but none of the desire which is funny because it's all the way around in the books, no dicks touch butts in the novel but it is still a very sensual read. I don't think is a lack of chemistry between the actors neither because they're both clearly committed to their roles and enjoy their parts. I don't know. It's all very weird. Maybe Bryan just hit the jackpot with Hugh and Mads.
I MEAN HE DEFINITELY HIT A JACKPOT LMAO but like I don't think Jacob & Sam are bad, either, and like THEY HAVE SO MUCH CHEMISTRY IN INTERVIEWS???? WHERE IS THAT ON THE SHOW?
It's largely about the writing though and like all my complaints about the show have to do with writing. They're both doing awesome work with what they're given lmao.
I've complained about this a few times already LMAO but all of the sort of self aggrandizing that the show is doing about ~ReMoVing the SuBTExT~ is so hollow to me when you sit down and watch the show and realize the "subtext" they meant was to say THEY FUCK and not THEY ARE IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER. It reduces love to being about sex in a way that's so just, honestly tacky and disappointing and so out of sync with what I see in the novels.
Like where's the sensuality and heat and fuck-me-eyes and steamy blood sharing and casual intimacy? Don't just show me Sam's ass in the pilot in a scene that's arguably dubcon. Don't sell your show as a romance when the most genuine interaction between them was 2 seconds from Claudia's POV.
I think there's a lot of telling and not showing going on; I spent the entire first episode not sure what Louis sees in him aside from the mind gifting & coercion, because they made the choice to montage their courtship and not show us the romance. The second episode Louis had to literally say like 5 times "He was enthralling" voiced over scenes of abuse and coercion. Third episode is infidelity drama with Louis's puppydog eyes going "Aren't I enough?" and like ?? Where does this even come from? Do they even like each other lol.
Plus with all the confusing exposition about why are we doing a second interview that scene when Daniel plays the tape at him is so ??? THEYRE THE SAME PICTURE LOL. It ruins the argument that they look worse/more frigid because of Louis's POV. They're telling us out loud that Louis is portraying Lestat as his soulmate, that's the story we're supposed to be getting? But he's still coming off like a complete asshole? This confused me so much.
Enjoy the toxic ship as much as you want but I just, don't see the horniness personally. Louis has been abused to an honestly unreasonable degree, and they used such real-world tropes to show us that it doesn't feel like fantastical vampire drama, especially when they've made such a point in anchoring his character into his race. Everyone had a problem with the violence in episode 5 but doesn't seem to care about the insincere gift-giving in episode 6, when that's JUST as realistic to real life abuse. But what I've learned from this fandom is that abuse isn't real unless someone hits you lol but that's not my business.
(Let's also not get into how the abuse in Episode 6 was also largely directed at Claudia but that's another story.)
I just don't get it like, we know from Hannibal, from Tony Soprano, from Walter White, from Dexter, that you can have fun with a bad guy, you can still enjoy when he gets what's coming to him, you can cheer for him through the badness. They had Lestat there already and oversold it, imo. He was already so petty and abusive and poorly behaved and it would've made sense that they rise up against him. They just oversold it so hard in a way that's just so uncomfortable (real world uncomfortable) outside of genre convention and just isn't all that fun to watch tbh. And they've made Louis such a sad sack it's just, so hard to watch him go through this. I think if he had a shred of agency it would feel more like it was in his own power and I'm just not really getting that from the story they're telling us and it's honestly just so fucking depressing.
And all that and it's like, not even sexy idk. Like if you're having fun and it gets you off, please enjoy! I just think it's being beaten over the head, like it was already so abusive via the gaslighting and whatnot and that type of CHEMISTRY is something I really enjoy in toxic ships hahaha but it's just like, so unrelenting and it's hard to enjoy when we never get to see them just loving each other.
Like, when Lestat is inevitably murdered and Louis has to deal with the guilt and grief of it, what is he even going to be grieving? With Paul they made the point to let us see their relationship so we understand what he lost, and with Lestat? idk. It'll be more of the voiceover going "He was all I knew" without like, letting us enjoy that on screen while it's still here.

Moxxie: How the hell did you crash the car?! Blitzo: So I was just driving today, right? And my navigation told me to go straight. Blitzo: I was like "woah, that's homophobic". Instead, I went gay. And, THAT'S when I got into an accident. Moxxie: … Millie, with a proud smile: And THAT'S who I'm in love with, ladies and gentlemen.
Moxxie, looking through their clothes: Has anyone seen my top? Blitzo: Millie's in the kitchen.
Moxxie: Guys, I didn’t memorize my lines! Blitzo: Just use your lack of common sense! Everyone knows the characters in plays are dumb as fuck! During the play Millie: Hey! You finally made it! Did you get the donuts? Moxxie: W-what’re donuts?
Blitzo: We need a diversion. I say Moxxie gets naked. Millie: No. Blitzo: I could get naked. The squad: NO!!!
Blitzo: pitches an idea Millie, impressed: Huh, there might be something here! Moxxie, under their breath: Yeah, a lawsuit.
Moxxie: Hi, sorry I’m late. I was doing a couple of things and got distracted. Millie: I’m “a couple of things”. Blitzo: I’m “got distracted”.
Millie: Who do we know that has handcuffs? Blitzo: Well Moxxie and I- Moxxie: elbows Blitzo Blitzo: …wouldn't know.
Millie, in a high voice, holding Barbie: Hey, Ken! I was thinking about going back to school and starting a career! Blitzo, in a deep voice, holding Ken: Nonsense, Barbie. You’re staying home and having my kids. Moxxie: What the fuck are you guys doing? Millie: Playing systemic oppression.
Millie: What’s it like being tall? Millie: Is it nice? Millie: Can you reach comfortably for the cupboards? Blitzo: We live in constant fear of the short ones who, in my experience, will climb 4 chairs, 2 boxes, a small coffee table and 6 oddly placed stools to get what they want. Moxxie: It was one time!
Moxxie: Well, remember when Millie made a romantic dinner for me? Blitzo: Moxxie, they microwaved you a pizza.
Moxxie: How do you know how to kiss? Like who teaches you? Blitzo: Well it’s actually a class, but unfortunately it’s full right now. Blitzo: Would you like me to tutor you? Millie: That was smooth.
Blitzo: is wearing silk pants How does this look? Moxxie: Like its slips on and off really easily. Blitzo: Moxxie: No, I didn't mean it like that- Millie: We know what you meant.
Blitzo, bursting into the room: You two are having sex! Moxxie, not looking up from their book: Really? Millie, why didn’t you tell me? I would have put my book down.
Moxxie: Any advice before Blitzo and I fight? Millie: Don’t wet yourself in public. Moxxie: Not the kind of advice I was looking for!
Moxxie: What makes you think it's okay to watch Hannibal given its subject matter? Millie: Sometimes, I watch television shows for entertainment purposes. Blitzo: Because I condone murder and cannibalism.
Moxxie: Is there a cactus where your heart should be? Blitzo: What’s up your ass this morning! Millie: walks in …Hey. Blitzo: Hmm… nevermind. Moxxie: WAIT NO!
Blitzo: Is letting someone win at chess sapiosexual bottoming? Moxxie: Can everyone in this godforsaken group please learn the skill called "Think Before You Speak"? Millie: Ya know… it might be.
Blitzo: How do I make a date really romantic? Millie: Be mysterious. Blitzo: Okay! later, while on a date with Moxxie Moxxie: So where are we going? Blitzo: None of your fucking business.
Millie: Why did you guys dress up as each other for Halloween? Blitzo: Moxxie is the scariest thing I could think of! Moxxie: Blitzo told me I should pick the dumbest costume possible.
Moxxie: Did Millie just tell me they loved me for the first time? Blitzo: Yeah, they did. Moxxie: And did I just do finger guns back? Blitzo: Yeah, you did.
Moxxie: If you want my advice- Millie: No offense but you’re the last person I want relationship advice from. You tried to kill your significant other. Multiple times. Moxxie: First off, that was before we started dating. Secondly, they’ve also tried to kill me. Blitzo: It’s true. It was mutually attempted murder.
Millie: Guys it’s a shooting star, let’s make a wish! Moxxie: I wish for good grades. Blitzo: Nerd. Moxxie: Nevermind, I wish upon the shooting star to fall down at a 30° velocity aiming for Blitzo. :) Millie: Moxxie…
Blitzo: I’m this close to falling in love with Moxxie. Millie: Your fingertips are touching. Blitzo: Exactly.
Millie: Breathe, just breathe. Moxxie: I’ve done nothing with my life! I’m a failure! Blitzo:: Awww, that never bothered you before.
Blitzo: Holds a sign that says "Prom?" outside Moxxie's window Millie: OH my God, Yes! Moxxie: Yelling up No, tell Millie! Blitzo: Millie! I'm going to prom with your lover!
Moxxie: So, what’s Blitzo's type? Millie: Brown eyes, kind, oblivious, good sense of humor, turtle lover. Moxxie: Sounds kind of like me. Too bad we’re just friends. Millie: Did I mention oblivious? Moxxie: Yeah, why? Millie: Okay, just making sure.
Millie: Why would anyone want to harm Blitzo? Moxxie: Maybe because they met them?
Moxxie: Why do you let me win when we race up the stairs? You’re the faster one. Blitzo: Erm… it’s nice see your smile when you win! later Moxxie: They're probably just staring at my ass, aren't they. Millie: Yeah, probably.
Moxxie: Hey, babe, remember how I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up my ADHD meds? Millie: Yes? Moxxie: Well, it turns out they're all out for the next five days. Millie: Fuck. Moxxie: It's gonna be a fun week! Millie: I'm going to Blitzo's house. Moxxie: Nuh-uh. Through sickness and health, motherfucker.
Millie: Is this your plan B? Moxxie: Technically, this is plan P. Millie: Plan P? Is there a plan M? Moxxie: Yes, but I marry Blitzo in plan M. Blitzo: I like plan M.
Millie: Why would you do that? Moxxie: Because I feel guilty. Blitzo: Guilt is a trick emotion. It’s put there by your parents to stop you from doing things that feel good.

The Consequences of My Actions
Hannibal Family Pt. 7: @charliedawn @iloveslasher
Tumblr media
Morgan’s POV:
Dinner had been interesting last night. Peter’s little friend was quite the character. They spoke in an odd way, almost like they weren’t afraid to speak their mind. Not even about confrontational subjects, just anything that came to mind. They seemed to think a lot, their brows almost always knit together in a confused display.
They were younger than Peter, that much was obvious, but they were in the same class. So they must be somewhat intelligent. Otherwise my little cousin would not hang out with them. He didn’t bring many students home, unless they were to become dinner guests. Hannibal called Peter away for help with something nearly half an hour ago. I watched Newt from the shadows as they stayed in the living room.
They where laying on the their stomach on the carpet, rubbing small circles into the plush fabric with their palm. Everyone few seconds or so they would shiver. It would start at the top of their spine and roll all the way through their toes. I could see them scrunch their nose each time it happened, as if it made them uncomfortable. Yet they continued to do it. How odd.
I watched a little while longer, entranced by their odd behaviour. No wonder Hannibal found them intriguing. They were no Will Graham, but they hadn’t seen the things that man had. They weren’t quite haunted in the same way. Instead they held an hier of naivety. Normally I’d be disgusted by it, but I sort of pity them.
Danger is lurking quite literally right under their nose, and yet they’re none the wiser. Of course, we all loved Peter. But if it came down to it, Newt would be disposed off if they became a threat. But this was possibly the most non threatening human I’ve ever observed. Even toddlers have more devious intentions.
They had a peculiar way of moving as well. Their movements were stiff, instead jagged. But not with pause like someone in thought, instead disconnected like someone who’s checked out. Mentally ill, I’m sure. They have to be, everyone else knew to stay away from Peter. Despite his shy demeanour, others could sense his sinister undertones.
They were kicking their feet to some uneven beat. Changing rhythm haphazardly and with no reason. I suddenly realised, I had no idea what they were even meant to be doing. Why were they hanging out in the living room with Peter? The television wasn’t on, they didn’t have a book in front of them, no puzzles… they were just playing with the carpet and completely content. I moved a bit closer, still staying out of their peripheral.
They began to hum a tune, their voice low and soft. It was gentle at first, almost timid. But it grew louder seemingly the more impatient they got with waiting. Until they began to mumble the words.
“Forget you’re apart of me, I know that you’re fond of me. But when I ask you if you love me, forget like lobotomy.” They sang.
It was unlike any song I’d heard before. Kevin liked to keep up to date on the latest music trends. But this sounded nothing like the type of thing he enjoyed. Hannibal and I had more refined taste, of course.
“I wish I could take a piece of my heart out. Make you leave. But even if they cut out my whole brain, feelings will always be.”
Their feet kicking became more rhythmic as they got into the song.
“Make me forget who I am. Say you’ll make me understand, you’re just taking my personal power.” They finished.
They ended the song with a dramatic sigh, turning to flop on their back. They shivered once again, yet this time it was more violent, almost like a small jerk. It caused them to sit up suddenly. Their eyes were screwed shut, I tilted my head curiously.
“Peter?” They asked?
It was so soft, I almost didn’t hear it. They must have noticed my presence so I stepped forward into the light. I wasn’t expecting them to jump as much as they did.
“Oh! Morgan.” They said.
“Peter is still with Hannibal, did you need something? I was passing by and I heard you call for him.”
Their face scrunched up.
“No, it’s fine Morgan, thank you.”
The frowned deeply. The kind that tugged at the corner of their eyes. I was going to take my leave, not wishing to over stay my welcome, I could always go back to observing later. They still needed a proper threat assessment; to be tested. To see if they could be trusted.
“Are they ok?”
“Hmm?” I hummed.
“Just- well, they’ve been gone awfully long time…” they said nervously.
A small bead a sweat formed where their throat met their clavicule. I watched as they swallowed thickly. They were nervous all of a sudden, but was it because of me, or something else? I took a step forward.
“I’m sure everything’s just fine, perhaps Hannibal got a call from Mr. Crawford and didn’t have time to drop Peter off back at home.”
This only made them more worried. They shook their head, hugging their body.
“I Hope not, Peter doesn’t belong at places like that.”
What a strange statement. Peter thrived in the realm of the dead. We all did, killing was our specialty. He wouldn’t be disturbed by a measly criminals sloppy murder scene. They were all amateurs, which is why they got caught. Of course I knew where they were. They were dealing with a particularly nasty piece of shit. The more I observed Newt, the less I could understand how their father could abuse them as much as Hannibal seems to think he did. He didn’t tell me much, and I didn’t pry. If it was pertinent, I’d be the first to know.
But I couldn’t tell them that. That we kidnapped their father and we’re torturing them. That Peter requested to do most of it himself. He wanted to make that man hurt for every bad thing he did to his best friend. And I respected that, seeing him take initiative for once was thrilling. It’s a shame I had to be here instead, babysitting. Making sure they didn’t run.
“Are you hungry?” I asked.
They tilted their head, brows furrowing much more. Almost as if nobody had ever asked them such a question. Perhaps no one had.
“We shouldn’t eat until everyone’s back home.”
Interesting, they called this place their ‘home’, not Peter’s, not mine, just home.
“Nonsense, a snack never killed anyone. I won’t tell if you don’t.” I offered.
I had to get them to trust me if I was going to test their loyalty. Scaring them away would do no good, not this time. Not when Peter seemed to actually care for this one. He would be devastated and I cannot have that clouding my conscious. I held my hand out for them to take, which they excepted.
“Thanks.” They mumbled.
They trailed behind me to the kitchen. I thought about what I could cook them. I knew for a fact, Hannibal had yet to serve them anyone yet. I don’t know what he was waiting for, it’s not like they would know. He’d done it many times, with Miss Lounds, Alana, Jack… Will. They’d all eaten someone without knowing. Even Abigail had, so Newt being a minor wasn’t what was stopping him. But I shouldn’t go behind his back, he had his reasons. As tempting as it would be to watch them devour someone, and see them break when they found out.
That was always the most fun, watching them break. The men were more satisfying, they always tried to me ‘manly’ about it. But they’d resort to puking and tears in no time. And the women, the women grew hysteric and would plead to whatever god they believed in for forgiveness. But Newt, how would they react? They belonged to neither classification, not fully. Despite looking like a girl on the outside, their brain was much more complex than that. I wondered what it would taste like. I shook the thought from my head, and looked back when a hand was placed on my shoulder. I raised a brow at them.
“Lost you there for a moment, where did you go?” They asked.
“Go?”
The gave me a nod, chuckling softly under their breath.
“In here.” They pointed to their head. “Your eyes went dark, like Peter’s do when he’s thinking.”
They too were observant, interesting. Maybe they would be more useful then I originally gave them credit for.
“Nowhere you need to worry yourself about.” I answered plainly. I knew they didn’t mean to pry, but they didn’t seem to understand we were still strangers. They shouldn’t pretend to know me because they knew Peter.
“Kevin doesn’t disappear in his head much.”
I raised a brow once more, daring them to continue.
“He hides in someone else’s instead. Poking around in whatever hole he can find. Digging deeper until they’re to confused to question his motives.” They started.
Bjr it didn’t sounds scared, or judgmental. It was like they were stating a simple fact. It wasn’t harsh, nor soft, just spoken plainly, with utter disinterest.
“You make my brother sounds like a narcissist.”
“With a tendency for sociopathy actually. He doesn’t like me very much.”
I frowned. Had they read Hannibal’s folders? I knew he kept files on each of us, his own way of feeling in control. He was in charge while Hannibal Sr. was in jail after all. We’d have to break him out soon; he’d been locked up for far to long.
“You believe Kevin is a sociopath?” I questioned.
I took some cheese from the fridge; grabbing the proper knife to cut it into cubes. Cheese and crackers would be a simple snack they would enjoy. They didn’t seem to be the type for a broad pallet. Their taste were quite childish.
“Is that what I said?” They asked back.
It wasn’t quite challenging in tone, more defensive.
“But you believe he had a tendency to be so.”
“He’s cynical, charming, arrogant, impulsive, irritable, presents as having little empathy and frequently gets in trouble in school. Often times, dragging Peter with him.” The concluded.
Fascinating. Yet they dared to challenge him last night at dinner. I continued to make their snack. They sat at the counter, fidgeting with their nails.
“You’ve paid attention to Kevin’s behaviour at school, before you were intimate with Peter?”
They scrunched their nose.
“Please do not use that word. There is nothing going on between Peter and I. Intimate suggests… unsavoury things, we’re familiar, harmonious, but not intimate.”
I raised my hands in mock defence. There was that shiver again, a visceral reaction.
“But yes, Kevin has been called down to the office 47 times, been reprimanded in front me 24, but I’m sure there’s been countless more, he’s gotten in 7 fist fights, two of which he didn’t initiate and he’s been suspended 3 times. All since the beginning of the year when I got here.”
They picked at the skin of their fingers more harshly, clearly becoming worked up. I knew I should step back, Hannibal wouldn’t be pleased if I started to wear down Peter’s new toy so quickly. But I couldn’t help myself.
“And what do you think of me?” I asked.
They looked up for the first time since they sat down, a bewildered look crossing their features.
“I don’t know you Morgan… I won’t pretend to.”
“Assume me.” I pushed.
They sighed heavily.
”You seem to have compulsive tendencies…” they poked around their head for more descriptors.
“Oh?”
“You’ve readjusted your grip on the knife 9 tiems, three for each time you’ve had to pick it up again after pausing. You did the same thing last night at dinner. You also spin your fork twice before eating. You tap for times on the table with your left forefinger once you’ve set a utensil down. And you adjust your sleeves between each action, which doesn’t come off as a nervous behaviour. In fact you don’t seem to be a nervous person in the slightest. You’re quite confident in all your actions.”
They cleared their throat.
“I could have declined your offer for a snack, but you would have persisted. Which suggests to me your obsessive need for control. You’re a perfectionist. If I had said no, it would have ruined how you pré-planned this whole interaction in your head. You wish to get to know me because your protective of your family, but more importantly Peter. Because you’re paranoid, a symptom of your PTSD.” They finished.
My grip on the knife tightened, my knuckles turning white. Now I knew why Hannibal’s patients felt uncomfortable when he read them. It was like being splayed open on an autopsy table for all the buzzards to pick and chose which sort of you they bore into. Their eyes trailed down to my hand. I expected them to react, pulling back in fear, and I would have to think quickly how to handle this. But I was stunned at what they did next.
Their hand felt gently on top of my own.
“I’m not going to hurt you, or Peter, Morgan. I answered because you asked. Don’t read to much into it.” They said, giving me a gentle smile.
I relaxed my hand a little.
“And Hannibal?” I questioned.
They were coming too close to figure us out, I would have to call a family meeting later. They didn’t retract their hand until they felt me pull my own away. They dropped their hands in their lap.
“Hmmm. He’s difficult to read. He doesn’t leave much time during our sessions for me to observe him. He asks too many questions. And outside of his office, we only meet during meals. He’s a very busy man. Possibly afraid of being alone with his own thoughts for too long. Perhaps Peter’s narcism was learned from Dr Lecter. He doesn’t mean to, but he’s not great at hiding his prejudice. But he judges with the best of intentions. Some Doctors join the feule because they like the sense of control, but he wouldn’t have become a psychologist if he didn’t want to help, right?”
Now this was interesting. A real question. A little intonation of hope at the end, they wanted a real answer.
“I do believe Hannibal enjoys his job, yes.”
They smiled at me.
“He too is low on empathy, which isn’t a bad thing. He makes up for it in showing sympathy, at least I can feel it. I’m sure his other patients do to.”
“So you’re officially a patient?”
“We’ll, no, no more than you are, I suppose. Perhaps I should be, I think Dr Lecter thinks so. He thinks our chats are useful, I find them boring. But it makes him happy, which in turn makes Peter happy, which-“
“Makes you happy”
I slid the plate to them.
“Peter makes me very happy.” They said.
I could tell it was sincere. The first statement they’d made this far that wasn’t flat. It held a type of warmth that I couldn’t rightfully describe. It was nice to know they didn’t have any sinister intentions with my cousin.
“Did I answer all you questions Morgan?”
“For now. Unless there’s anything else you’d like to share. Or I could leave you be until dinner.”
“No, I think I enjoy the company. Unless, of course, that was just your polite way of telling me you have better things to be doing. Thank you for the snack.”
I sat beside them on the counter, and watched a small smile grow on their lips.
“Your turn.” They said.
“You wish to know what I think of you?”
They nodded as they took a bite of the cracker. It was odd how happy they got from such a simple meal. It was so bland. They offered me one, but I pushed the plate back to them.
“We’ll, I’m not quite sure.”
“You don’t think you understand me, do you?“
“Does anyone understand anyone?”
They chuckled.
“I won’t be offended if you’re wrong. I’m sure I got a lot wrong earlier. My analysis was quite brutal, at least form a normal societal standpoint. Narcissism, and other personality disorders aren’t something that are taken lightly. People demonise them far to much. The people suffering with these conditions are still people, and society conveniently forgets that.”
No wonder they feel for Peter’s charms. They held all the cards to see the red flag, yet chose to wear rose coloured glasses. I pity them.
“We’ll, you care deeply, you show it with your actions rather than words. Acts of service are your love language. You’re adverse to touch most times, but you’re more comfortable when you initiate it first. And you do so when you’ve decided the other persons feelings are more important than your own.”
I watched as they chewed at their bottom lip, squirming in their seat. It was fun to watch.
“I don’t think you live in reality. You’re in heavy denial about something which is why you focus all your energy on being a people pleaser. You try your best to fit in, but not because it’s what you want to do, rather as a survival technique. You know your ship is sinking, so you desperately cling onto the most stable thing you can find, which happens to be my cousin. You idolise him, wrongfully so.”
They tore into the skin of their nails this time, little droplets of blood, beading at the surface.
“You don’t think Peter is worth looking up to?”
“Nobody ever is. Your attachment to my cousin is unhealthy, which is probably why Hannibal insists on making you one of his patients. He can stop you from taking things too far.”
They pushed out their chair.
“Thank you for your analysis Morgan. I think I’m done with snack time.”
They quickly left the room. I could tell they were fighting back tears. Sure, it was harsh, but was I wrong? Their interest could quickly turn to obsession. And I didn’t want to see Peter her his heart broken when Hannibal and I would have to put them down. They couldn’t stay long, it would be better to convince them to leave on their own. I took out my phone and called my uncle.
“How’s Peter doing?” I mused.
“You didn’t call just to talk about Peter, Morgan, spit it out.”
“The child is getting too close, you’ll have to work harder on your manipulation. They know you’re trying to sway them in some way, they just aren’t sure of what, or why. I’ve planted a seed of doubt, be sure to water it, won’t you?”
I hung up the phone. Hannibal and I were quite sparse in our communication. It wasn’t rude, just not laced with all the bullshit embellishments. Poor little Newt walked away with their tail between their legs. This should be fun.
Newt’s POV:
I felt stupid, utterly stupid. I promised I wouldn’t get upset, and like a cry baby, I went and ran away. How pathetic. But he wasn’t right. Peter was my friend, my normal friend. Sure, I’d never made one before, but this is how they described them in books.
My danger sense had been going off all day. But not strong, just a mild buzzing. And the longer it went in, the more I grew concerned. What the hell were Hannibal and Peter up to. The feeling grew in the pit of my stomach, and I knew I had to swallow my pride. Morgan knew where they were. I went around looking for him, finding him in the library. I stood at the entrance, debating if I should come in.
“Do come in Newt, I believe I owe you an apology for earlier” he said smoothly.
His tone of voice made me uneasy.
“No matter, it’s a nonissue. It’s late, I’m worried.”
“I spoke with Hannibal only an hour ago, everything’s fine.”
“No offense, but i don’t believe you. Not about this, not this time.”
He put down his book and slowly walked towards me.
“Are you accusing me of lying?”
“No, I- I can’t explain it. I just have a feeling something is wrong. It’s making me sick.”
He tilted his head at that.
“Fine, I’ll take you to them. Then you’ll learn to trust to take my word.”
I nodded. Something told me not to follow him into the car, but I pushed it aside. Making sure Peter was fine was my first priority. Everything about Morgan’s body language screamed instability. He was upset, but I don’t think he’d hurt me. He’s too smart, too proud. But as we made our way further from town, towards the woods, my stomach twisted further.
“Morgan”
“They’re just a little further, old family cabin.” He stated.
We indeed arrived at a cabin, which calmed my anxiety a bit. But I was still on edge. It reminded me of when my father would take me out of town for our hunting trips, and we’d stay in cabins liek this one. He took the keys out of the car.
“We’ll go on, they’re just inside.” He said.
I frowned.
“You’re not coming in?” I asked suspiciously.
“I don’t need to, I know they’re here.”
I squinted at him, scrunching my nose before hesitantly opening the car door. I slowly made my way to the cabin, knocking a few times but not hearing a response. I turned back to look at Morgan, who just shooed me forward. I tried the door and it was unlocked. Weird, that seemed unlike a man like Hannibal.
Most of the cabin was pristine, just like the house. This was definitely one of Hannibal’s properties. It was also fairly quiet. What were they doing out in a cabin by the lake all day? The sun was almost setting and Peter hadn’t checked his phone since he left. A little mouse scurried across my foot, and I looked after where it went. There were little red foot prints leading to a hole in the wall.
I followed the mouse to the little hobbit hole and held out my hand, waiting. It peaked it its nose out after a minuet or so, and I let it sniff my hand. It slowly climbed onto it, and I brought it close to my face to observe. It was covered in some sort of red substance, perhaps they were painting? I set the mouse back down and let it go back into the wall. I pushed forward, noticing a latch in the floor near the back of the house.
I thought for a moment, knowing it would be rude to enter. Morgan was probably just setting me up, getting back at me for earlier. But that bad feeling didn’t go away, so I opened the latch. I could see a light in the distance, they were down there. I could go, but, something urged me to push forward. So I carefully made my way down the later and slowly rounded the corner. I didn’t want to sneak up on them, but talking didn’t seem right, right now. My voice would come out too shaky.
I stepped in a small puddle, but shrugged it off, until I looked around the corner. My heart nearly stopped. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Hannibal and Peter where here alright, but so was my father. Despite everything yelling in me to run, my instincts betrayed me.
“Daddy?” I asked.
All three men turned to me. My father looked shocked, but could barely react from how swollen his face was. I thought I saw a glimpse of anger appear on Hannibal’s face, but I couldn’t care less. My eyes were trained on Peter. He held a knife in his hand, and his jumper was covered in blood, so was his skin. His perfect, welcoming, skin. It was tainted now. Marred with the blood of my father.
“Newt.” Hannibal started.
Peter opened his mouth multiple times to speak, but it was clear he couldn’t come up with anything to say. I didn’t dare take my eyes off him though. Hannibal took a step forward and I took a step back.
“Peter?” I asked.
I watched his eyes shift to Hannibal, like he was looking for some kind of confirmation. Hannibal moved forward again, but I moved back.
“I won’t run.” I stated simply. “So please, stop trying to chase me.” I said calmly.
Hannibal looked hesitant, but agreed to my request.
“Morgan brought me. I was worried you weren’t well. You didn’t answer your phone.”
“Morgan called an hour ago, he should have told you we would be home shortly.”
I chuckled dryly.
“And leave a job unfinished? That’s seems unlike you Dr Lecter.”
“You aren’t upset?” Peter finally spoke.
God, his voice broke me. Actually hearing him speak made this all the more real. He sounded scared. Of me?
“Oh, I’m livid right now Peter. The only thing stopping me from making and rash decisions right now, is the fact that you’re holding a knife, and I know Hannibal won’t hesitate. And I’m sure Morgan’s behind me right now.” I finished.
As if on cue, he gabbed me from behind, holding me tightly to his chest so I couldn’t flee.
“You we’re getting too close.”
“I told you not to read to much into it.”
“Reading into things is the Lecter specialty” he quipped.
“You weren’t meant to see this.” Peter brought my attention back to him.
He stepped forward, and due to Morgan’s hold on me, I couldn’t budge.
“Any of this.”
“So you were going to leave me to wither alone in the dark, forever? We’re meant to light each others flames Peter, not smother them. You promised.” My voice broke.
“I didn’t want to hurt you.”
He was at arms reach now, knife still in hand. But I didn’t dare look at it, I held eye contact dispute how uncomfortable it made me.
“You think your lies do not hurt?” I was quickly becoming enraged.
This wasn’t Peter, my Peter. This Peter was ugly, and cold.
“He just wanted to help. Your father is a monster. The things he did to you-“
“To me! This isn’t your call to make!” I was yelling now.
I was never one to raise my voice, but I couldn’t help myself.
“He’s my father… MINE!” I screamed.
My body was shaking with rage at this point, my vision growing blurry with frustrated tears. I could hear Morgan chuckle behind me, he was enjoying this.
“Not yours Peter.” I tried to calm myself.
“Despite all this, have I given you any reason not to trust me Dr Lecter?”
He thought for a moment.
“No. You have not.”
“Then when I said I wouldn’t run, I meant it. Please tell Morgan to let me go. I don’t like being touched, let alone manhandled.”
Hannibal gave him a nod and he let me go. I adjusted myself, brushing off the icky feeling that cling to my skin. Peter tried to approach but I pushed past him. I approached my father, and the three men watched, on edge. I grabbed his face In my hands, looking him in the eye before ripping out his gag.
“Speak.”
“You vindictive little bitch, I should have let your mother smother you with that pillow when you were an Infant.”
He spat in my face. A mix of salvia and blood hitting me, the warmth of it made me want to vomit. I used my sleeve to wipe it away.
“Huh. No apology?” I asked.
“The only thing I’m sorry for is raising a bastard child like you. I forgave your mother for the affair, she paid for that. But she grew attached to you, that was her mistake.”
My eyes widened. I wasn’t even his blood? This whole time I felt disgusted being related to someone like him. And my mother, she- it didn’t matter now. I started laughing, the kind of laugh the final girl gets when she escapes the killer at the end of a movie.
“We’ll, if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions. To think, I brought some poor stranger into my family problems. Poor you, the husband of a cheating whore, and the surrogate father of an innocent child who loved you unconditionally.”
I scoffed.
“I cried for you, you know. Every-time I’ve thought about telling the school, or the police. The thought of you rotting in jail made my stomach sick. Mother would never forgive me, and I’d be the outcast who put their own father in jail. Cause what you did to me wasn’t that bad, right? Everyone’s father lost his temper sometimes, it was normal. I was just being dramatic, and a baby. Well guess what dad, I’ve grown up!”
I grabbed an ice pick from the table of tools and quickly plunged it between his rib cage, narrowly missing his heart.
“I’m not that naive little kid anymore, who thinks daddy just wants what’s best for them. You can’t order me around anymore.”
I twisted it in. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I flinched back, pulling my shoulder out of the way. In turn taking the weapon with me. Something clicked when I looked down at my hands, seeing the red, feeling the hot sticky sensation of his blood on my hands. I was going to be sick. I dropped the ice pick and stumbled back in shock.
“What did I-“
Peter pulled me into a hug, I crumpled to the floor, a sobbing mess. He shushed me, rocking me back and forth gently.
“It’s ok Newt, he’s never gonna hurt you again. And I don’t have to lie anymore, I promise.” He said.
“Morgan, get them home. I’ll clean this up.”
The rest of the evening was a blur. I was too stunned to have any coherent thoughts, or hear any of what they tried to say to me.
An: I was having a bad day, and this fic made me feel better lol. Hannibal is my OG comfort character.

Hello new friend!!! I have come to return the favor!
I'm gonna go with....
✨ 🤡 🌞 🦅 🤩
Pick whichever or all or none, just as long as you have fun! Have a good day! 😍
thank you!! looking forward to answering these! Have a lovely day yourself, friend <3 <3
Fanfic Writer Emoji Asks - here
Answered below!
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
Aww thanks! Honestly I'm really proud of my descriptive style - it's motivated by reading a lot of Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and Douglas Adams, but I feel like I've developed this really fun blend of humor and creative description, and I'm really proud of it! Some of my fics have more humor than others (Who Waits Forever Anyway? and Heartstrings are probably at the top of the list), but I tend to get some humor going in just about everything I write
🤡 What’s a line, scene, or exchange you’ve written that made you laugh?
Particularly proud of some of the exchanges between Kyle and Jasper in Heartstrings. It's on AO3 if you want to read it, but here's a lil snippet:
“Aww, Mother Nature just broke up with Father Time,” Jasper joked, “Maybe she’ll take him back when winter rolls around. All those long, chilly nights…”
“You think he’ll leave her flowers?”
“Why would he? She’s got all the flowers she wants, she’s Mother Nature.”
“Yeah, but it’s romantic.” Kyle protested, “It’s not like he can give her, like… an hourglass or something. That’s not romantic.”
“But flowers? That’s like…” Jasper racked their brain for a good analogy, “That’s like cutting off one of her toes and giving it to her. That’s like Hannibal Lecter levels of creepy. She’d never take him back if he did something like that.”
“Okay, ew.” Kyle huffed, “Remind me never to buy you flowers.”
🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?
I tend to write whenever I have time, usually whenever I'm done with my classes and homework for the day. But I feel like the words really start to flow once it gets to be later at night - it's like my brain's just tired enough not to overthink what I'm writing, and I can really dive into the scene.
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
Bit of both. I do rough outlines and make note of key details or interactions so I don't forget them, and I generally outline the next chapter right after I post the previous one (so I can keep the motivation going), but generally the brunt of the storyline just floats around my head. If I write too much down, I start to feel locked-in, and it's harder to let the story evolve the way it wants to.
🤩Who is your favorite character to write?
Ooh, good question. In terms of my OCs, I really enjoy writing Madison (Smoke & Mirrors) and Jasper (Heartstrings) because their banter with the other characters is always really fun to write. In terms of characters that aren't my OCs, I really like Alex Summers, Kyle Spencer, and Armitage Hux, because it's fun to explore their character arcs past what we're given in the original media. I feel like I've fleshed them out quite a bit from what we're given, and it's a really interesting challenge!

Straight up don’t understand the discourse of grabber x reader…. I’m not sure why there’s people trying to put slashers above one another like they literally aren’t fictional murderers?? Pennywise and Freddy Krueger shouldn’t have fics then if everyone is so concerned abt the fact of him messing with kids bc that’s literally their plot line as well. But that is still being incorporated into their stories as well 😒
Also all the people I’ve seen complain abt grabber x reader are people who wrote or support grabber x finney, grabber x any of his victims, EVEN SHIPPING THE MINORS TOGETHER OR WITH THE READER so they’re def hypocritical and not worth ANY of your time, Penny 💚
- 🫀
Oh for sure, they like to cherry pick what they think is okay or not, it’s so ridiculous. Pennywise was never depicted doing anything sexual, but I sure as hell wouldn’t put it past him. Krueger was originally going to be a pedophile, and ended up being made into one later on. Again, nothing shown or said in the films, but implied, yeah?
It’s the same damn thing with The Grabber. It’s never shown, but implied. That said, you could make the argument that people shouldn’t be simping for Krueger or Pennywise. But people still do, and none of them (as far as I know) condone their actions.
I have never seen anyone make this kind of argument regarding someone like Hannibal:
“You can’t like that character because they’re a cannibal.” “But…I don’t want to eat people?” “It doesn’t matter! It’s still wrong to like a cannibal character!” “…but I don’t think it’s okay for them to be doing that?” “IT DOESN’T MATTER! YOU STILL CAN’T LIKE THEM!”
It’s a weak argument and they know it.
And yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen one single person harassing x Readers who wasn’t obsessed with the minors from the film.
So they can keep harassing us, and I’ll just keeping writing even more x Reader content.

Can we stop hating or judging fans for their ficitional preferences though?
Fiction is about conflict, drama and mistakes and the reasons and consequences behind human behavior. People make the mistake of conflating enjoying art with agreeing with what it depicts and that’s just not how consuming media works. I like hurt/comfort fanfic, but that doesn’t mean I want to see my partner beaten up. I really enjoy Hannibal, but that doesn’t mean I approve of cannibalism. What we read, watch, write or ship doesn’t reflect our character. If that were true, Stephen King and George R. R. Martin should both be in prison, and every fan of Die Hard would be on a watchlist. We enjoy stories because they take us outside of ourselves, into adventures we could never have and into the minds of people we could never be. That’s art. And while it’s always important to be critical and thoughtful about how and why we enjoy something, that should never keep you from liking what you like. And it certainly doesn’t make you a bad person.
Hi I'm not sure what this is about but I'm assuming it's about me not liking Billy fans and I still don't. I'm not saying that writing a racist character makes you racist (unless you're portraying that as a good thing) but I'm saying if Billy wasn't a conventionally attractive white guy, no one would like him. He was abusive towards Max and traumatized her and he was also racist towards Lucas and I know people will say he isn't but the Duffers say he is and so does Caleb McLaughlin.
There's nothing wrong with liking the way Billy is written. He's a complex character and he shows the cyclic nature of abuse and how abusers are often as a result of their abuse as a child and how that can warp a person along with their environment. Very few children are born abusive and none are born racist, so it shows that in another environment, he could've been a different person. But liking Billy full stop is a bit of a red flag to me because he's a racist bully who torments his sister so much she wished he was dead. And I have no doubt he would've seriously injured Lucas because of his race if Steve hadn't stepped in. Plus if Max hadn't threatened him, he would've absolutely made Max and Lucas' lives hell for being in an interracial relationship. You can talk about the complexities of his actions without actually liking him and you can think the actor is hot without liking the character, but there's a difference between speaking about writing and just condoning his actions and justifying them.
I don't hate people for thinking Billy is an interesting character study or well written, but if you try to excuse his actions that's where I have to disagree. Sorry if this upsets you, but it's how I feel and I think that if he wasn't played by an attractive actor, everyone would agree with me. Thanks for the ask anyways.
