#this is how I know that you've never worked IT in a big international company that doesn't sell software to survive

step 1: build a professional-looking, ad-free site that will perform formatting and validation on a wide variety of file types used for configuration and data transfer (.properties, YAML, .config, JSON, etc), and decrypt file contents if people will just paste in their handy dandy private key/shared secret/etc. Yes, there are already sites for this stuff, but they're fairly scattered and ad-infested.
step 2: perform whatever SEO skullduggery is needed to get your site to the top of the Google search rankings.
step 3: once your site has established itself, pass every single thing that gets pasted into it to a backend service. If you wanna be coy about it, continue doing the validation in Javascript and pretend that the backend calls are metrics. Listen, if you make the URL something like https://admin.yourhosthere.com/datadog-agent then 90% of devs are gonna go 'yeah that seems legit, it's just my good friend Datadog :)' and investigate no further.
step 4: parse every message for strings like 'username' and 'password'.
step 5: now that you have production credentials for about 40% of international corporations and governments, hold the planet hostage.
step 6: rule the world from a flying volcano lair staffed with jumpsuit-wearing henchmen.
(traditionally the henchmen would come before the world conquest, but like most things, supervillainy has gone through massive changes thanks the internet)

(Don’t know if this is considered sfw or not so slight warning?)
141 + Rudy with a gn!reader who’s an excessively heavy smoker. Constantly has some sort of cigarette or vape in their hand cause they go through really bad withdrawal - like shaking, headaches, cold sweats, insomnia that type of thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: How Task Force 141 and Rudy would help a Reader who smokes heavily and sometimes deals with heavy withdrawal symptoms.
Genre: Headcanons, request(s) Characters featured: Soap, Gaz, Ghost, Price, and Rudy
Warnings: Mention(s) of smoking and withdrawal symptoms!
A/N:  Hopefully you enjoy this, Anon! Apologies if this one’s rough, I’m posting it while I’m fresh out of work because I’m exhausted. OTL ( Gif credit: xxx )
Tumblr media
Rudy―
My personal headcanon is Rudy wouldn't mind one bit being with someone who is a heavy smoker. I like to think he knows plenty of family members and friends who are heavy smokers as well, so he's well adjusted to second hand smoke, the smell, and pretty much anything else most would complain about.
Personally can't stand the smell of menthol and clove cigarettes though.
While he isn't a smoker himself, he finds himself keeping a pack of whatever you'd prefer to smoke just in case you forget or run out of your own.
He'll never admit it aloud, but he enjoys watching you smoke. Something about the sight of you exhaling big clouds of smoke allures him like nothing else.
Even if he doesn't smoke, he likes to join you whenever you go out to. He simply enjoys your presence.
Also will gladly help you through withdrawal if you begin to suffer from any symptoms since he realizes quitting isn't so easy.
Soap―
My personal headcanon is he's not huge on cigarettes or cigars, but will sneak a few hits of a vape, whoops.
Hates the taste of regular tobacco based flavors, strongly prefers the fruit-based or sweet-based types since they're the most pleasant for him. And probably the easiest for him to hit.
Personally believe that this man cannot hit blinkers, his hits are small and precise because he absolutely hates taking in too much and hacking up a lung as a result of coughing. Go easy on the guy, alright?
Is the type to hate the scent smoking leaves on clothes so probably won't tag along on a smoke break with you.
Although, I also like to picture him as a fresh newbie who gets invited along for a smoke and doesn't say no, even though he doesn't care for smoking. So, he ends up going along with it, smoking a cigarette with the others. Internally wants to toss it onto the floor and snub it out with his boot but decides to power through so he's not mocked for it.
Even if he doesn't smoke, if you've a decent vape he thinks he might enjoy, will ask for a hit or two.
Also will try and help as best he could if you end up dealing with terrible withdrawal symptoms. Tries anything and everything to help you out.
Gaz―
Isn't a smoker himself but is used to it from being around Price often, so when you're constantly toking on something you've in your hands, it doesn't bother him in the slightest.
Whatever it is you prefer, it doesn't bother him. If anything, he probably considers it less harsher than some of the cigars Price has smoked around him before.
Won't ask for hits of whatever you have but will tag along with you on a smoke break. Enjoys the company and likes the downtime to catch up or joke around together.
Eventually knows what you prefer and often keeps it on hand whenever he's around you just in case you ever need it.
Doesn't really know how to help with withdrawal symptoms, but he ends up researching plenty of things that may help you. Likes to discuss what you think might be the best method before forcing anything onto you.
If you end up having to deal with the symptoms, he's right there by your side, doing his best to comfort and help you in any way that he can.
Price―
He's right there with you. Personally, he struggles with quitting because dealing with withdrawal in the worst of places has made him secretly hate dealing with it. Often keeping both his and your favorites on hand at all times.
Will also happily tag along with you for smoke breaks.
He probably won't ask to take a drag of whatever you like but will happily allow you to take a drag of his cigar, if you'd like. Don't even get me started on his secret fascination of watching you smoke.
He knows he shouldn't be such a pervert about it, but he can't help but want to grab you by your jaw and shotgun smoke into your mouth with his own every time he sees you smoke. Hell, it's even gotten to the point he thinks about it more often than not whenever he's smoking alone too.
If you ever have to deal with the symptoms of withdrawal for whatever reason, he'll also do his best to help you through it however you see fit. Although, if you can't smoke for medical reasons - or you're trying to quit - he'll remain firm and refuse to give in and allow you to smoke for your own good.
Oh, and if you vape, I'm so sorry honey, he'll give you grief over it. Is one of those that sees vapes as some sort of ridiculous device.
Ghost―
IMO, he doesn't consider himself a heavy smoker, but does keep a pack on hand for you and him to share. Sometimes when the stress gets to be too much for him, he finds himself lighting up.
Even if he doesn't want to smoke, he'll happily keep you company during one of your smoke breaks.
However, much like Price, if you ever need to stop for medical or personal reasons, he's one of the best to keep you from breaking down. Will absolutely find any hidden stashes and get rid of them when you least expect it.
Often finds he enjoys the scent of your personal favorite brand, and over time, comes to associate it with solely you.
Does his best to help you deal with any withdrawal symptoms since he understands how they can be hard to deal with. He's seen Price struggle before and has some experience with helping him. He'll try and give some small tips here and there that may help you.
Also like Price, loves to give you shit for vaping, if that ends up being your preference. While he doesn't care all that much, he'll roll his eyes if you've a ridiculous flavor or type.

Happy Wetnessday 💦
You find a wallet in the grocery store. Everything is still inside so you check the ID for an address to return it. The address leads you to a luxury penthouse. The housekeeper opens the door and ushers you inside to wait for the owner. And holy shit he's even hotter than in his picture, especially sporting that suit, fluffy hair and glorious beard. He's very thankful and gives you a reward and takes you for dinner. Little do you know he intends on keeping you too.
Which hottie do you choose and how does he earn his money?
xoxo Wetnessday anon 💦
Hi Wetnessday Anon! 💞 I'm coming back to you on Saturday, because my Wetnessday was more of a Blehnesday 🤧
Suit wearing, fluffy hair and glorious beard? Well, that gives me a few hotties to pick from, but I gotta admit there was a man that came to my mind instantly.
Tumblr media
Andy Barber is like a modern prince charming and you stepped into a fairytale when you picked up that wallet and returned it like the good girl that you are. He's going to reward you in so many ways (and smoothly condition you to crave more of it).
Andy is a co-owner and CFO of a big international company. He explains they deal in trade and logistics, you don't need to know that a variety of weapons and military technology is what they move around the globe. You don't need to know that detail to enjoy belonging to Andy 😎 After all, why would you feel suspicious or worried, when Andy sweeps you off your feet with sweet, romantic gestures.
He encourages you to work on your career goals (while also signing you up to a private clinic - for better health care he insists, but it's mostly so he can make sure your contraceptives are a scam). He is nice and charming to your friends (while also introducing you to his partners' girlfriends/wives, arranging for you to slowly, unknowingly shift to that group and lose contact with your former friends). He's affectionate and patient (while also managing to make you do things you've never done before, take his cock in ways you never imagined). Andy's going to make you always feel like a princess living a dream life, even when he shapes it - and you - exactly how he wants it.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: newintern!soonyoung x coworker!reader
summary: new intern soonyoung who's just adorably clumsy and enthusiastic about his new job and you're tasked as the person who'll guide him through his work. so for the next three months, you take him under your wing. he's so cute, he's always behind you like a puppy and it's just so cute. he's so goofy and bubbly yet shy that you can't help but fall for him :(
warnings: fluff
wordcount: 2.7k
a/n: this isn't really written in a set or proper format. i couldn't decide which way to write it so i mixed it up. hopefully, it isn't too confusing.

Tumblr media
"we have a new intern joining us", our team leader announces. "he's interested in marketing and applied for the marketing and design position so i think it would be best if y/n guides him", he says, making you whip your head up. me? "you're the best person to guide him since that's perfectly your job role here y/n. i'll be counting on you then, he joins us next week", your team leader tells and you can't really say no so you just nod and just pray that you got a nice intern.
it's a new week at work and you head to work, having a busy day ahead of you. you reach office and head to your desk when your coworker chan walks up to you.
"y/n! good morning", you look up and see an unfamiliar face with him. "hi", you say, your eyes glancing over at the man standing next to chan. "this is soonyoung, he's the new intern", chan explains. right, you had completely forgotten about getting an intern. "yeah", you get up, reaching your hand out to shake. "hi! im y/n", you say and the new guy shakes your hand firmly and introduces himself. "i'll be on my way then", chan says as he turns around and walks away.
you look around and luckily the desk opposite yours had been empty for a while so, so he could sit there. "you can sit here and work", you tell, pointing to the empty space next to you and he nods, eagerly taking the spot. "i'll be in charge of you and your work and be guiding you for the three months during your internship here", you explain to soonyoung, who's looking at you with a smile as he nods his head to your words.
"i'm open to work and being useful and i'm grateful for this opportunity!", he tells you enthusiastically with a smile. you're a little taken aback at how enthusiastic and energetic he is, it was different. you've never seen an intern who's been this excited to work, the others were usually nervous or quiet but soonyoung was quite the opposite.
newintern!soonyoung who is so enthusiastic and excited about his job. he's always greeting everyone when he comes to work, announcing his presence loudly. he'd always greet you with a big goofy smile in the morning and you can't help but smile back. soonyoung would always be ready to work and ask what he had to do for the day. he would sit opposite you on the desk since you were assigned to guide him for the next three months. sometimes you'd sneak a few glances at him because he was pretty handsome and cutely charming.
newintern!soonyoung who always manages to catch you off guard because you both were opposites. you're quieter, keeping to yourself most of the time, meanwhile, soonyoung is asking you a million questions about you and work. he was so curious to know many things and would listen intently when you answered. he'd always accompany you and sit with you during lunch break. you often sat alone, wanting some peace but these days soonyoung would come and sit with you, keeping you company. he'd tell you funny stories and a few things about himself. he'd always ask you if you were okay and if your workload was too much, you could pass it on to him and he'd do his best in completing the work and helping you.
newintern!soonyoung who seems to be taking too long to get the copies of a document you needed for a meeting. so you wander down the hall to the printer room, only to find him standing in front of the printer with his brows furrowed. soonyoung tries to read the faded manual for the printer and you're confused. "soonyoung what's taking so long?", you ask. "i can't seem to get the printer to work", he says, looking at the manual and then the machine and then you, a small frown on his face. you take a look and quickly fix the issue. (the plug to the printer was unplugged but you weren't going to tell him that) he smiles when it finally works and soonyoung promises to get you the copies you needed in five minutes.
newintern!soonyoung who would sometimes buy you coffee in the morning, even when you told him he didn't have to. he'd have you order memorized and surprise you with coffee three to four times a week. when you offered to pay him back for the coffee, he'd always decline, saying it was okay and just admired how well you work. he'd say he bought you the coffee because he wanted you to have energy for the day. expect one day when he brings you a coffee, he accidentally trips on a box you had put down with old files and the coffee ends up splashing all over you. he'd be shocked and apologies would be falling from his lips as he plucks a few tissues from the box on the desk as tries to wipe the coffee off you, not realizing how close he is to you. he was pretty much hovering over you as your sat on the chair. he tries to wipe the coffee from your shirt and hands and you try to hide the small flush that creeps up your face. you clear your throat as you tell soonyoung that you'd just go change. luckily you kept a pair of extra clothes in your car.
newintern!soonyoung who'd always tell you to not work late and tell you to clock out on time. he'd bicker, saying if you were staying late, he'd stay too because he was your intern. he'd help you with the work if there was any that required you to stay overtime and you'd treat him to dinner afterward.
newintern!soonyoung who accidentally deleted an important file that was needed for the client meeting today. when the team leader finds out, he'd not happy. you accompany soonyoung to his office where soonyoung gets a scolding but you try to cover for him the best you could. "i'll redo all the creatives immediately", you tell, feeling bad that he was getting scolded because it really wasn't entirely his fault. the pen drive was faulty and the file didn't save but your boss was not going to sit and listen to that.
that night, you stay back late to create all the creatives for the client again, which was needed tomorrow. you don't notice soonyoung enter, only looking up when you see him placing something on the table next to you. "you didn't go home? it's late", you tell, looking up at him. "how can i when you're sitting and redoing all the work because of me", he tells, feeling guilty. "it's not your fault really", you say, trying to console him but he shakes his head. "let me help, please. tell me what can i do", he tells, determined. so you give him a few guidelines and assign him some work. when you're finally done, you sigh and stretch. soonyoung would pay for dinner that evening even if you insisted you would pay. he'd apologize a few more times for making you work late.
and you don't know when you started to fall for him. how could you not? he was so bubbly, shy, cute and so....attractive too. he'd follow you around like a puppy some days when you went for coffee breaks or lunch, eager to tell you something that happened in his life. you tried to ignore your feelings but he made it impossible sometimes. the simple things he did started to make your heart flutter.
newintern!soonyoung who finds you coming to work even though you seem to have caught a nasty cough and weren't feeling too good. he'd frown, saying you should go home but you wouldn't listen and brushed him off, saying you could work. he'd pay extra attention to you that day, making sure you were okay and he'd ask you to take breaks and be attentive to you. he'd bring you hot tea instead of coffee that day and you give him a grateful smile.
"soonyoung, you didn't have to", you say but he only smiles as he tells you to drink the tea before it gets cold. when everyone clocks out for the day, you're still at your desk, completing and making some changes to a few designs for an important meeting tomorrow and you wanted everything to be perfect. soonyoung finds you when he comes to pick up a book he left. he finds you hunched over your desk, asleep.
he'd shrug off his coat and drape it over your body and sit opposite you and wait till you woke up because he didn't want you to be alone or go back home alone at this hour. you finally stir awake ten minutes later and get surprised when you see soonyoung's concerned face in front of you.
"soonyoung? what are you doing here, i thought you went home", you say softly as you get up. "i was worried about you", he replies. "you should be at home resting, not working", he adds, sitting up straighter. "it's okay", you trail off but the thought of resting at home doing nothing was tempting. "let me take you home", he adds, checking the time on his watch. "but i still need to-" "i'll do it for you", he cuts you off. "please", he says and how can you say no when he's so sincere.
so soonyoung is driving you home in your car, even though you insisted you could drive but he didn't let you saying you should rest. "are you hungry? you barely touched your lunch too", he says. "im not really hungry. "if you're hungry we can stop by somewhere", you tell, looking over at him.
soonyoung stops somewhere, telling you he'd be back and you assume he'd going to grab some takeaway for himself. so you stare out the window of the shop he enters and watch him. he was so sweet to you, it makes your heart soft. and you didn't want him to get in trouble if word got around that you liked him. you so swallow down your feelings and tell yourself that it would pass. he was only here for another month now.
soonyoung is back and he smiles as he places a paper bag on your lap. "i got you something too", he says. you sigh, looking down because how were you supposed to brush of your feelings when he would do sweet acts like this. im sure he didn't mean to make your heart flutter but it sure wasn't easy.
"soonyoung...", you start, trailing off. he thinks he's done something wrong and a flash of worry hits in his expression. "did you not want that? sorry i should have asked-" "you're so sweet", you say cutting him off.
"you're so sweet to me and everything you seem to do makes my stupid little heart flutter and i just...i don't know anymore", you say, burying your face in your hands in defeat. he doesn't say anything and the car is silent.
"you like me?", he asks, surprised and you look up to see him waiting for an answer. you nod and he looks at you tilting his head to the side like he couldn't quite understand the fact that you liked or had feelings for him. "i-i like you too", he blurts out softly, covering a hand over his mouth once the words are out. it takes you a few seconds to process what he just said. "i've admired you since day one and you're really charming and pretty too", he adds shyly, making your heart beat a little faster.
your back home and you lay in bed, soonyoung's words playing in your head over and over again. what were you going to do now? you went to the office the next day like everything was fine and soonyoung greeted you with a smile as usual. but something about his body language had changed or maybe you were just hyper-aware around him now. you noticed how he sat a bit closer to you during the meeting and how he'd glance at you from across the table when you were working. it's later that evening and you're sitting across the table as you present the work you've done so far to your client. the client you were losing sleep for last night by working late last night. soonyoung is next to you and he watches as you bounce your leg repeatedly and fiddle with your fingers from anxiousness. this was a really high-stakes client so you were hoping everything would go smoothly. and without a word, soonyoung's hand is over yours, giving it a gentle squeeze as if to reassure you. it catches you off guard but you manage to answer the question asked to you just at that moment. it would be a lie to say your heart wasn't racing at that moment because it was going crazy.
later that evening after the meeting he finds you packing up and getting ready to leave. "the meeting went well, i'm glad!", he says. "yeah", you reply, your mind going back to the moment he held your hand. "i'm glad you're leaving on time for once", he adds with a soft smile. his smile was going to be the death of you - it was so endearing and genuine and so so sweet.
at the end of the month, it finally hits you that soonyoung is going to leave and that his internship is over. you're sad because you were definitely going to miss his goofy smile and antics at the office every day. he really had brightened up the last three months of your life.
today's soonyoung's last day and to celebrate his hard work here, everyone decided to take him out on a team dinner. so here you were, sitting opposite soonyoung as everyone toasted to him, glasses clinking as they drank. you tried your best to stay in the moment and not think about how much you were going to miss him. after a few drinks and eating, you're starting to get uneasy. maybe it was the crowded atmosphere, or that everything was too loud but you needed to get out and get some fresh air. so you excuse yourself and walk outside to the side of the building which also had a balcony since it was on the second floor.
"you okay?", you hear a familiar voice ask. soonyoung stands next to you as he faces you. you nod. "yeah, just needed some air", you say. you turn to finally look at soonyoung, who's looking at you intently. you lose your balance a bit, your head a bit dizzy from the alcolhol running in your system. "woah", soonyoung says as he catches your hand to make sure you were okay.
"i'm going to miss you", you say. the words are out of your mouth before you can think. maybe it was because of the few drinks you had, you loosened up and whatever was on your mind was coming out. "you were really the sweetest intern soonyoung. i'm grateful for everything you did and i hope you learned a lot and had a good time here", you say.
"can we maybe stay in touch? you have my number right. we can get to know each other more maybe?", you ask looking up at soonyoung. "are you asking me out y/n?", he asks, taking a step closer, his lips curved upwards in a small smile. you nod your head bashfully because you'd never be so straightforward or upfront yet here you were, asking soonyoung out. "i'd love that", he finally answers.
his gaze is soft as he looks at you, his eyes filled with adoration. you step forward and go on your toes to give him a small kiss on the cheek before stepping back and smiling. soonyoung is surprised his mouth forming in a small 'o' as he comprehends what you just did, before a grin bursts across his face.
and just like that, you and soonyoung start seeing each other and he'd just be the sweetest, cute and goofy boyfriend ever <3
i'd love to know what you thought about this!

IRL
Pairing: Jake Jensen x reader
Warnings: Non - just fluff
WC: 1.7k
Summary: You and Jake work together and you're really good friends…but you've never met IRL.
A03 Link
Tumblr media
“So…” Missy looks at you raising an eyebrow
“So what?” you ask as you scroll through your inbox
“Next week is the big day, what are you going to wear!?”
You turn your head giving your friend your full attention.
“What are you talking about?”
“Your long distance work buddy. He starts Monday” your best friend smirks into her coffee cup as you shake your head in disbelief.
“No, no he doesn’t start for another 2 weeks!”
“Nope” she says, exaggerating the P, “Change of plans, they asked him to move up his start date so he would be settled in before all the upgrades next month. Which your boyfriend will be heading up.” Miss adds with a smirk. You’re in such shock you don’t even stop to correct her.
“Lucky for you, your best friend works in HR and can keep you in the loop about these things” Missy is smug as she gives you a wink but you don’t even notice your brain is moving a mile a minute trying to process all this information. He’s going to be here MONDAY. There is only 1 weekend standing between you and…
“Ohh” Missy says, dropping her voice down to a whisper “by the way I reviewed the policies and the two of you are good to go. You can bang as much as you want, although if you bang in the office try not to get caught, the paperwork will be a nightmare for me!”
“Oh my, Missy!” You say slapping her arm “cut it out. Seriously. Last thing I need is for him to think I’m some pervert before he even gets settled in!” You scoff.
Missy, naturally ignores your scolding and continues on her matchmaking mission for you and a certain IT associate.
“Do you think he’s cuter in person? I bet he’s cuter in person” She muses.
“Well I wouldn’t know. I don’t even know what he looks like.” You say trying to calm your internal turmoil.
“Oh I’m well aware I can’t believe you haven’t looked him up I mean you aren’t the slightest bit curious as to” You cut her off before she can finish that thought.
“I can’t believe he starts next week. More importantly I can’t believe he didn’t tell me!?” I mean why wouldn’t he tell me?”
“Ohh come on, it’s understandable.” Missy says in an attempt to comfort you. I mean he is very busy with a cross country move. He probably forgot. Or figured you’d find out I mean” Missy says as she puts a hand on your shoulder. “The important thing is the guy you’ve been crushing on forever will be working a mere few feet away where you can drool over him in person. Think of how much more vivid your fantasies will be once you see him in person. You can tell a lot about a man from his walk you know.” She says wiggling her eyebrows.
You slap her hand off you and attempt to hold back your laugh, lest you encourage her. How someone with a mouth as filthy as hers ended up in HR you will never know.
Tumblr media
Jake. Jake Jensen will be here in person with you in just a few days. You will finally get to lay eyes on the man you’ve been crushing on for the past 6 months.
You and Jake both worked for the same company, a startup based out of Boston. You work at the office although a lot of your coworkers work remotely from all over the country, including Jake.
You were first introduced to him 6 months ago when you were having technical problems and he helped you, virtually of course. When you called for help you were lucky enough to have him answer. From the moment you heard his voice you were completely enamored with him. The two of you immediately clicked and not too long after you found yourselves talking outside of work.
You and him have really gotten to know each other. What started as emails and slack messages eventually turned into texting and talking on the phone late into the night. As much as you liked him, you never brought it up, afraid of not only the “we work together” conundrum but there was also the we live 2,000 miles apart issue. So you let your feelings grow, but never bothered to say anything to him.
Then a month ago he told you the big news. He was relocating to Boston to be closer to his sister and her kids, which meant he’d be able to work right out of headquarters with you. When he first told you, your heart soared at the possibilities. Being able to see him talk to him face to face, the thought was too much. You are already so smitten with him! And it’s easy over text but…in person..you’re afraid you’ll freeze up.
Or worse what if he’s not how you imagined? You could have built up this amazing man in your head but what if the real one falls flat? Or worse what if he’s as great as you imagine but he doesn’t like you the way you like him. There are way too many variables. Maybe it would just be better if he stayed where he was!
But that is not an option. No matter what you want he is on his way here. Hell he’s probably already here in the city unpacking his stuff right now. Your heart picks up at the idea he may be near you.
Tumblr media
It’s first thing Monday morning and your day is already awful. You changed outfits 6 times. Yes 6. 4 times last night and then twice more this morning. Despite the cute fit you are wearing you feel a wreck. You were tossing and turning all night, only to fall asleep only moments before your alarm went off. Then to make matters worse, you spilled your coffee, not on your outfit thank god, but still no coffee for you. You didn’t have time to stop for another cup since you were already cutting it close on time.
You are rushing into the building determined to not be late. You completely miss the handsome man in glasses at the front desk trying to check in.
Missy finds you in the break room attempting to make a cup of tea and is kind enough to let you vent over your terrible weekend and even worse morning.
“Seriously Missy, this day could not possibly get worse and it’s not even 930am. Maybe I should just call it and head home.” you sigh. “I don’t have any meetings scheduled today.  I’ll just tell Carly I’m not feeling well and do the rest of my work from home”
"Do it. Take care of you…" You love Missy. She may be a little vulgar and definitely NSFW but she was always so supportive of you.
Firm in your decision. You’re headed back to your desk to write up a quick email to your boss and then head out.
Turning the corner you slam into what you assume to be a brick wall someone added to the office over the weekend, leading you to drop your drink and fall onto the ground.
You vaguely hear an “ohh God” through your haze as you try to not completely lose your shit. Looking down you take deep breaths through your nose as you push your tongue into the roof of your mouth in an attempt to keep the tears at bay.
“Oh my god I am so sorry are you alright!?”
The person you bumped into crouches down in front of you and you are completely taken aback.
Turns out the man who made you drop your second beverage of the day was rather handsome and his beautiful blue eyes were trained right on you.
Tumblr media
After triple checking you were ok the man you bumped into ran to get some napkins. He insisted on helping you clean up.
You’re sure he’ll be back in a moment but before he arrives you see Dave from HR walking towards you.
“Hey what happened here?”
“Ohh there was a bit of an accident. I bumped into someone but he’s going to get paper towels now.”
“Ohh man ok well I was just looking for, Ohh Jake there you are!”
You turn and see your mystery man walking towards you, paper towels in hand.
“Ohh, hey Dave, sorry I was headed down to find you but..” Jake tapers off while gesturing between you, him and your spill.
“It’s totally fine man. Take your time, no rush! Maybe once you two are done cleaning up and Jake is ready maybe you can show him back to my office?” Dave says, looking directly at you.
“Ughh yeah, sure” You reply. Your over tired and under caffeinated brain is trying to make sense of everything that’s happening. As you are slowly trying to make sense of things you turn to Jake and see him sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck before he looks over at you.
“Guess I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Jake, Jake Jensen, IT. I mean I work in IT.” He says sticking out his hand for you to shake.
You can’t believe it, this is Jake your Jake and he is so handsome and…shaking your head you remember your manners. Shaking his hand you introduce yourself. Jake’s face lights up as soon as you say your name. The two of you stand there holding hands for longer than necessary before you recover and remember to separate.
You grabbed some paper towels from him and you both start to clean  up.
“You know this is not how I envisioned our first meeting…” You confess.
“I know,” Jake replies “I didn’t think it’d be so easy to sweep you off your feet.”
You laugh out loud at his super lame pick up line. Although you have to admit that line along with that blush has you crushing even harder on your newest coworker.

It's a rainy day today
When I woke up, the pattering on the roof and the sight of you so cozy and curled up beneath my fingers nearly lulled me back to sleep. I had to go to work today though, so I forlornly shake off my drowsiness, and switch my hand out for your own little blanket. You still shiver in your sleep despite my efforts, and I tiptoe off to the kitchen with a smidge of guilt lingering in my head
The sky is dark and rolling, pouring out sheets of rain. I get some quiet music going as I start pulling together the things I'll need for the day, but a buzz from my phone on the counter interrupts. 'Severe Storm Warning', it declares in big text. I sigh, the commute was just gonna be that much harder then, huh.
As I start taking my meds, I hear a little yawn. I glance over and see that you've made your way out of bed. Your blanket hangs around your shoulders like a cape, and when you finally pry your sleepy eyes open enough to look at me, you quicken your steps. I reach down to put you on the table, but you refuse to slide off of my palm. "I do have to go to work you know" I chuckle, keeping my voice low for the early hour. "Don' care," you mutter back, "'S cold."
I sigh, amused, and continue one-handed with my morning routine. You remain in your half asleep daze, idly watching as I flutter around. I fix up some instant coffee, and you wrinkle your nose when I ask if you'd like a mug. "It's warm~" I tempt, swishing mine around with my spoon. Your eyes are hooded as they swing over to look at me, then further down. "I know something warmer~" you reply, imitating my sing-song voice.
I huff, "You know I-" "I know, I know, need to pay the bills, I get it." You sigh, curling further into your blanket. My heart twists a little. "But," your voice is muffled through the fabric, "It says it going to thunder today..." Even through the tired glaze on your voice, I can still hear an edge of fear. We both know you're deathly afraid of lightning, it's the reason for the first time you spent the night after all. It makes me feel awful that I'll have to leave you to go work, but...
Almost like magic, my phone buzzes on the counter once more, this time it's a message in my company chat. 'Everyone is excused from work today due to flooding, see you tomorrow!' My jaw drops, and I don't miss the way you immediately lean towards me, before I fully turn to you and exclaim "I'm off work!" You light up like a Christmas tree, "Really!?" Your once grumbly voice now brightens with relief, and I nod excitedly. "It's the rain! The buildings can't function with flooding." I grin. You beat you hands on the side of my finger, "I don't care how it happened!" You seem about three seconds away from leaping at me, "Let me in!!"
I just laugh again, and bring you closer to my face. You vibrate in place as I part my jaws, already salivating with my anticipation. You damn near almost fall off my hand you're so close to the edge as I ease my hand even closer. Once in range, you shed your blanket to climb over my teeth as fast as you can, and flop onto my tongue. I carefully close my mouth and begin poking you around, soaking you with saliva. No matter how many times we do this, it never fails to make my heart race when you accidentally get a little too close to my teeth.
After I'm fairly certain I've throughly soaked you, I tilt my head and let you slid a bit further back. You wiggle a little in excitement, but it doesn't slow me down as I finally gulp you down with a satisfied hum. I internally track your progress down my throat, feeling as you pass my collarbone with a bit of a squeeze, and then the little drop as you reach my stomach.
I sigh as you settle in, and rub at your form under my skin. You immediately rub back, and it takes everything in my power not to melt in my chair. "Back to bed?" You speak up. I smile and make my way back into the room, "Back to bed." I confirm, just before my back hits the mattress.
It's a rainy day today
oh, this is... this is really nice. thank you, anon, for this lovely post! genuinely a very pleasant read. love soft little momence like these

"Alright! I guess I'll be over there soon! Bye Jack!"
As Mark hung up, Jack smiled. He loved hearing Mark say his name. It made him feel warm and happy inside.
But now he had to get ready.
Jack rummaged around in his clothes draws for a long time, trying to find an outfit that was decent enough for Mark.
Eventually, he settled on some black jeans, and what Mark said was his favorite jacket of Jack's collection. His blue hoodie.
Jack's heart began to race as he heard a knock at the door. He looked through the (peephole?) in the door at Mark and was stunned momentarily. He was wearing a red, sleeveless muscle shirt and black slacks. He looked amazing. Even his ruffled hair, which Mark would say was 'too frizzy', added to his appearance.
Jack loved seeing all the versions of Mark, no matter how disheveled or rough they seemed.
After his momentary shock, he realized he had better actually let Mark in.
He stepped one foot inside the door and Jack gave him a big hug. Jack had always been a fan of hugs, but all of Mark's hugs just seemed a little bit warmer...
"Hey Jack! Man, it's been a while, hasn't it?"
Jack didn't really process what he said. He just nodded, hoping that was a good enough answer. He quickly became self conscious, tidying up little things as he saw them while Mark was looking around.
"So, where is this bookshelf you want me to build?"
Mark placed his hands on his hips and gazed outside to Jack's front porch.
"Ah, sorry, I was going to build it outside because my place was a mess..." Jack said, rubbing the back on his neck. He felt bad that Mark had to see his place like this.
"Oh, ok. That's fine. Did you want me to get started now or..?"
Mark trailed off a little as he noticed Jack walking around nervously.
"Uh, yeah that's fine. Go right ahead, I'll be there in a minute."
"That jacket really suits you." Mark said as he walked outside towards the stack of wooden panels.
Jack quickly ran to his room and let out a long breath.
Why was he so nervous! It's just Mark. You've been friends with him for a long time. What's your problem now!?
He took a few more long deep breaths and walked out again, feeling more composed.
All of that failed him in an instant when he looked out the sliding glass door.
Mark was kneeling down on one knee, trying to size up the boards and work out where they were going to go. Whenever he raised his arms, Jack felt his heart skip a beat. His muscles were practically glowing in the bright sun. Jack noticed every curve of his arms and shoulders. His hands were also beautiful. Most people would assume that because he does some manual labour that his hands were never delicate, but that was not at all true. The way his fingers moved, was incredible.
Jack took another deep breath and stepped outside into the sun.
"Hey Mark, how's it goin'?" Jack tried to ignore the way his voice was shaking.
"Alright, just tryna work out the measurements of each of these boards. Wanna help me?"
"Sure." Jack replied, though internally, he was screaming. If he got any closer to Mark right now, he wasn't sure what he would do, besides admiring him.
Jack figured the only way to calm his nerves would be to speak. Maybe having a casual conversation would make him feel better.
"I really appreciate you, uh, helping me out today. I know you were busy."
Mark's chocolate brown eyes slowly turned in Jack's direction, their gaze lingering in each other's eyes for longer than both of them intended.
"That's ok Jack. I'm always ready to help a friend. And besides, I like your company!"
Jack felt his face heat up. His voice caught in his throat.
"Thanks."
Was all he said, and looked away shyly, trying to focus on the boards, not the man, in front of him.

Time to do my go-to rare pair for the ship game: Koushiro/Iori post-Kizuna and Beginning
It really is a shame that, at some point in the middle of 02, they just stopped putting emphasis on the relationship between these two, despite the fact that they were STILL continuously mirroring them to some degree. While Koushirou is the brain everybody naturally turns to for help, Iori, despite being very analytical of situations and surroundings, tends to get himself overlooked more easily. And, even as they grow up, this may be something he would need some help and guidance for...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... Especially if you consider their set-ups as "work-a-holics in shirt and tie". The big difference here is: Koushirou is the CEO of his own company, he has LEARNED to stand up for and assert himself through the course of early Adventure already and it's no surprise that this is the reason why he is considered an "expert on all things Digimon" as a public speaker. Iori on the other hand... Is still the youngest Chosen Child in the group and is obviously being exploited as intern at the company he is working at during his law studies. He IS computer-savvy, maybe not to the same degree as his senpai, but definitely just as prone to stressing himself and taking on more work than he can chew. It almost seems like there'd be a lack in balance - and, as mentioned, maybe a lack in guidance too. And remembering their early set-ups, Koushirou may not always be the most tactful person in EVERY situation, but when it comes to very certain people, he IS observant - and very capable of calling them out for their issues especially those he usually also has himself.
Koushirou is among those who never treated Iori as a nuisance and Iori never felt belittled by him - so the confidence boost he'd get from getting praised by Koushirou is something he definitely needs. For his hard work, ambition, wit... He needs to know that he is being taken seriously and considered an intellectual and compassionate equal - which is something Koushirou would definitely provide, even unintentionally, simply by treating him like he always treated him: Respectfully and with kindness (and also in a somewhat protective manner). Iori on the other hand does look up to Koushirou whether he might surpass him in height is still up to debate though and, upon spending time with him, would get more and more comfortable being honest and calling HIM out as well. It's like an automatic mutual trauma response that goes like "I am tired as heck, but I need to finish this task at all costs, but HOLD THE PHONE, YOU WILL GET YOUR BREAK, MISTER". And it might actually work, because they care about each other a lot.
I could imagine them doing research together, with Koushirou teaching Iori how to use his gadgets and sources to his advantage for the sake of his future career - and with the help of the likes of Takeru, they might actually leave their office spaces and spend time outside, doing cultural activities and historical sightseeing. I really think that is something they'd both enjoy and that'd do them good while improving their relationships even further. Frowning over the others constantly jumping into danger and dragging them with them - but they're the voices of reason, so despite their grouchy faces, they'll happily oblige and share knowing, smiley glances about it.
... On a more romantic route, one might argue that everything I've just mentioned might cause Iori to eventually tell Koushirou that he doesn't "want to be seen/treated as you've always seen/treated me anymore", actively taking a step towards confessing. Because even if they're both rational thinkers, they can be very emotional around the right people - and Iori would be the one to initiate, maybe after harboring a crush for quite some time (which I know is a headcanon we can both imagine going down like that!). Koushirou might not be able to respond to something like that immediately, he would take his time for contemplation - and I wouldn't consider it impossible for them to act on it together.

I'm sorry if you've been asked this before but what are your thoughts about Arcane potentially being canon? I do not like it.
And if you don't mind answering another question, how do you feel about the way people sort of interpret Jayce and Viktor?
I don't think it's a good idea and it strips away many of the interesting things about these characters and the *universe's story as a whole* to exclusively represent the simplified, time-limited version of events that could fit the runtime of a TV show.
I've been asked this before and I always say this: Arcane is the MCU version of league lore; with the same strengths (improved visuals, the fast pacing of a cinematographic adaptation) and same biggest weaknesses (flimsy story summarizations that sacrifice a lot of the compelling narrative and kill entire characters)
I've been a comic fan for nearly as long as the MCU has been viral and I can tell you every attempt to retcon MCU events into the estabilished comic universe has not worked. It has the opposite effect of interrupting character arcs and stories people actually like and undoing pre-estabilished facts about the magic of the universe, driving away fans of the original medium while failing to attract the new movie/tv-show audience to check out the original, because those are completely different demographics.
It's even worse with Arcane, as we already KNOW one big joke in the fanbase is "even if you like the show, dont play the game. It's stupid bigoted redditor shit and it sucks" - there's an entire genre of arcane fan accounts who are militant about not playing the game and encourage others to never play the game. I don't think league's execs understand this, though, which is why we are seeing this current trend of a DRASTIC pullback in any and all lore-related content for league coming from higher-ups, and some of the old estabilished writers leaving the company while CEOs promise they're trying to find "an unified version of the narrative experience."
To stay on topic here and also answer your second question; ive rambled at length about jayce viktor interpretations in my meta tag. I reccomend you to look there! You'll notice i havent gone into specifics about what in arcane's narrative is weaker since its included on those.
I'd like to finish this post in another way though. In the long run, I don't think it matters that execs are trying to force narrative retcons despite the internal and external negative response to it. Fans will always like the specific thing they like, and in this scenario, start to define what versions of the universe/character they're talking about by release year or authorship, which is already happening in league. This is why the vikjayce codex exists and will not change, and this is why you see people using "2011/2016 lore" and "jayce giopara", etc.
Remember all these MCU retcons I mentioned? Whenever a movie is past its expiration date and the story element they tried to fit into original canon is considered a fad, it's just rewritten back to what it used to be. The newest marvel news this month is that CEOs decided to kill kamala khan ahead of her upcoming movie, as the MCU couldn't fit her signature elastigirl powers and they want to swap those out for the dumb purple magic the movies gave her instead. This will not last, as these never do. In 4 years she'll be back to normal, and in the meantime, elastigirl kamala will continue to exist in all her source books and videogames. The same way league's original bios are preserved and spin-off game content like the LOR comics or Convergence will continue to exist; I can't change any shortsighted decision from the CEOs, but fans as a whole have systems to define different universes and pick the version they like best.
Arcane has been called an AU by people who've worked in LoL's narrative, and is just the newest shiny thing. It is not "canon", as it never fit any part of the current game universe, and any future attempt to "make it canon" is just another permutation of an AU. I would encourage anyone who's nervous or anxious about retcons to not give a shit and disregard it altogether. If it doesn't work, you can always change it back.

Omg so I’m in my finals week for my first term of Veterinary school. Can you do an image of Steven Grant x reader where he kind of takes care of her and makes her take breaks and just super fluffy. Maybe reader doesn’t feel smart enough or something and he comforts her. Thank you so much and good luck on exams if you have them.
Oh my god that's so cool!! I can absolutely do that!! If I'm being honest, I'm sitting my A-Levels later this month, and I'm stressing!! Good luck for your exams, and thanks for the ask!!
Steven Grant x Vet!Reader: Studying
Tumblr media
It starts with small things, like a cup of tea beside you, already cold by the time you've realised
He knows it'll go forgotten every time, but he makes it for you regardless
Or he'll creep around the room so he doesn't make any noise, just in case it distracts you
He gets you to check on Gus all the time
That's actually how you guys met!! When he woke up to Gus having one more fin than usual, not only did he go to the pet shop, but also the vet (just in case)
In he comes to the same vets you're interning at, certain there's something wrong with his beloved pet
"Are you sure he only had one fin, sir?"
"Yep, 100%!! Either it grew back in one night, or that's not my fish, and I don't see how someone could have replaced my fish without me knowing, that would just be downright ridiculous haha"
"....right"
Somehow his anxious rambling was endearing, which lead to you giving him your email, for "emergencies"
Which results in him giving you almost daily updates on how Gus was doing
Eventually you both met up again, and the rest is history
But anyway,
If you fall asleep at your desk, he'll gently wake you up, and steer you towards the bed
Once he knows your asleep, he then goes back to makes sure your laptop is charged, and all your books and papers are safely stacked on top of each other
The next morning, you find a post it note stuck to your textbook that reads " don't forget to take breaks, I love you x"
One night, he's looking for one of his jumpers only to see you swamped in the soft material
"Is that my jumper, love?"
"Yeah. It helps me focus"
He doesn't mind one bit. Honestly, just the sight of you in it makes his heart swell
Because it's so quiet, he usually takes the opportunity to sit and read his books on Egypt
This leads to both of you forgetting anything else, until one of you looks up and remembers
"Hey, babe?"
".............."
"Steven?"
"Oh, yeah??"
"It's four am......"
".........bollocks"
Study dates!!! You both head to the library and just read and work and write and literally just enjoy each others company
If you don't feel smart enough sometimes, he's absolutely the first person to be bigging you up
"What do you mean you're not smart enough? You're the smartest, most brilliant, most intelligent, creative, perfe-"
He could literally go all day
He will say it as many times as it takes for you to believe him
He's so confident in your ability to do what you love, and he just wishes that you had the same faith in yourself that he has in you
Sometimes he'll come up behind you while you're reading, and just drape his arms across your shoulders while he rests his chin on your head
"Oh, hello"
"Hi...."
"Whatcha doing up there?"
"Thinking that you should take a break for lunch"
He tests you using flash cards. For every one you get right, you get a point, for every one you get wrong, he gets a point
Whoever has the most points by the end gets to choose the movie later
You came up with this game after he originally gave you a kiss for each one you got right, but it ended up being counter productive since you both got so flustered that you couldn't think, and he could barely read the card
When you do end up absolutely smashing your exams, he's so proud of you
Literally beaming when you tell him you passed
He never doubted you for a second
And that's it for now!! Thank you again for the ask, I hope this is what you were looking for!! Good luck to anyone taking exams, don't forget to look after yourselves though. I hope you enjoyed, and as always feel free to send a request!! :-)

The Promise of Spring (Ao3versary requests 3)
Tumblr media
Better late than never! I actually finished this Friday but real life got in the way here it is lovely readers of tumblr. The schedule is out the window but I hope the fact that this fic is a whopping 6,800+ words more than makes up for it.
Thank you so much @calee231 for the prompt of Jeno, light angst and bento boxes. I hope this makes you as giddy as it made me when writing it. (I think my bias is showing).
Details, tags, preview and link to full fic are all below as usual.
Status
complete (17/03/23), 6,887 words, one chapter.
Summary
Jeno has invited you over to make food for the annual company cherry blossom viewing party. You reluctantly agree as you are busy trying to ignore some overly friendly feelings you have for him. A moment in the kitchen leads to some internal agonising that your friends do their best to help you resolve.

"Simple, yes?"
Jeno nods like a puppy who knows he should respond but doesn't know why.
"You weren't listening were you? Look, when I said I'd come over and help you cook for the picnic I didn't mean I would just do everything for you."
"Sorry, Noona. I'm trying. Can you show me how to roll the kimbap again?" Jeno brushes his fringe out of his eyes and yawns so wide you wonder if he is going to dislocate his jaw.
"Late night?"
"Yeah, we didn't finish practice till 3:00"
You look over at the mishapen mound of rice and seaweed that is Jeno's first attempt and decide to take pity on him. "Fine, but pay attention. I still need to pop home to change and we haven't even got started on the geran mari."
Jeno just nods sleepily and turns to watch you as you place a fresh piece of seaweed on your rolling mat and start spreading on the cooked rice. You are about to start layering in the filling when he moves behind you and places his chin on your shoulder.
"yah… I'm not a pillow."
Your protest is half-hearted and Jeno ignores it. Instead of moving away he wraps his arms around your waist and leans his body into your back.
"I can see better like this, plus I'm cold."
"So I'm a heater now?"
Jeno just hums in agreement and squeezes you a little tighter. Despite his claims he feels warm against you. He smells good, like fresh laundry, making you think of bare skin and cotton sheets and half-asleep kisses and you wonder idly if he would still hug you like this if he knew you'd thought about touching him a thousand times. If he knew that the woman he treated like a big sister dreamt of tugging off his clothes. You take a deep breath and internally shake off thoughts of being under him so you can focus on the task in hand without giving yourself away. He'd asked you, his friend, to help him with this and you were going to help. That's what friends do. Friends.
For two people from fairly different worlds, born over ten years apart, you've become closer than anyone would predict. Things had been comfortable from the moment you'd been introduced, a year ago almost to the day. You'd been at a loose end when your school friend, Donghae, had invited you to the cherry blossom viewing with a few people from his work. As if hanging out with artists from one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea was a completely normal thing. At first you were nervous about meeting celebrities, but when Jeno sat next to you, ate your food, and then immediately declared you had to come to every company picnic, the anxiety quickly wore off. Perhaps he'd been told to look out for you by Donghae, they'd long been closer than brothers, but regardless of the reason Jeno had made an effort to get to know you from the start. You met a lot of cool people that day, some you'd kept in touch with and some you hadn't, but Jeno had become a permanent fixture.
There are lots of simple reasons for this. Initially you'd liked his quiet sense of humour, his thoughtfulness, and his straightforward nature. He's easy to read and you hate having to guess if others are in a bad mood. The two of you have similar taste in movies and food. You both hate oysters and like to nerd out over cars. You both like cats. In the early days your shared friendship with Donghae meant you'd had an uncomplicated reason to keep hanging out, nobody questioning when the three of your would meet for dinner. After dinner number five Donghae had bailed last minute and you'd ended up watching a movie just the two of you at your place. Now it isn't weird that Jeno calls you up when he wants advice, or that you come over to the dorm occasionally to have a drink after work. The other boys are used to you. You are just Noona. Just a woman who happens to be Jeno's friend. That's all it it is.
So when Jeno had asked you to help him make a lunch box for this year's picnic your answer had been simple. Of course you would. You hadn't asked who it was for and your were ignoring the irritable little gremlin that surfaced in your stomach every time you contemplated possible answers. He can date who he likes. Friends can date other people. You are friends. Except when he crosses that line and holds you, when you can feel his long black hair tickling your cheek and his heartbeat through your back. In fact, when he does what he is doing in this exact moment you don't feel like friends. It feels like…
"Okay, ice-man. I think you are warm enough now." You squirm out of Jeno's grip before you can follow that last thought through to its conclusion, "You finish making the kimbap and I'll get started on the eggs."

Hey bitches! Relatively general career question if you have a moment - generally speaking, how do internal interviews differ from ones where you're new to the company? I assume less "get to know you" type questions but I'm not really sure. (Hoping to get a promotion soon!)
Thanks for all you do!!
Tumblr media
Not a pet picture, but a snoozing bird at work is pretty close, right?
A SNOOZING BIRB! This is very important and we will accept it in lieu of a pet pic.
I feel very qualified to answer this question right now because I'm currently going through the process of interviewing internally! I'm one of 4 candidates for a job at my company that is only open to internal candidates. And it's in a department that I work with frequently, so I know most of the people there already. And it IS a very different experience from interviewing for an outside job. Here are some of the differences I've noticed:
They won't ask you shit about the company. Why would they? You all work there. Clearly you know what's going on.
They'll be much more concerned with your skills than your past experience. Again: they know about a big chunk of your experience. So wow them with your hidden talents.
They're much more likely to expect you to come into the interview with some kind of plan. You've seen how the company's doing, so you should know their challenges and goals well enough to have a strategy.
The get-to-know-you questions are much more casual. These are your coworkers, after all. Expect quirky questions like "What's the last thing you learned how to do?"
They are much more likely to stick to a script of questions, because they'll be very conscious of keeping the process fair for all internal candidates.
Hope that helps, baby! Here are some more resources:

Service Center vs. Sales Center
In the United States at least; there can be no service centers. Because there is a conflict of interest.
Every service center in the U.S., even ones that say they are not; are financially dependent on their revenue. In order to cover their costs, a business needs to make the money they spent back.
This means that, even businesses who work as service technicians are incentivized to participate in a practice called "Upselling".
<aside>In an institution like the Military; this isn't necessary because there is budgeted room dedicated to incentivizing servicing. This is because internal sales (at the lowest level) are largely frowned upon for a well oiled machine.</aside>
Upselling means that every person in sales, even services; are only motivated by what money they can make. If they're below their operating costs; then it isn't worth their time to waste time and effort doing anything other than making *more* sales.
This has an impact, especially on the technically disinclined. The ones that actively need help on the devices that they recently purchased and cannot go to a center to ask for help. Because it's not in the best interest of the franchise.
Every minute spent is, of course, a lost customer who walks out the door. Though; I've never been inside an [apple genius bar], what are those like?
This means that sales representatives don't actually have a good knowledge base of the intricate mechanisms and available services to the customer. They aren't paid to learn; they call the same technical support center that your individual can call.
So once you've learned how to use your device, and the website; what do you even need a sales center for anymore? Boomers?
This is more an observation on the changing business environments. Self-service means less people to interface with. And while we, as individuals, and even big business customers that cut deals with companies *specifically* for support and education of the services they're paying for; need more people to help give hands on demonstrations of using those services (and not just the device) they're focused on sales instead.
And because of this; customers are being turned away for the exact thing that will keep their business. And since it's the same across the board: (Regional monopolies, and entangled businesses; such as Verizon and a T-Mobile being the same but different corporate entities.) Customers are being treated as if the product they buy, or the service they pay for, is the end point.
"It's somebody else's problem now. Or it's something I don't know so I don't have time to look into your bullshit."
This is likely the reasoning Companies (like Apple) are attempting to engage in "Device" as a service; meaning the product you buy is still "legally" theirs. Because they have to foot the cost to service people.
This is the kind of thing that churches would have looked into in the before times; but have been since been relegated to Non-profits and not-for profit companies (Who can't even get funding to help communities anyway.)
The end goal; is to get people to be tech savvy, and stop looking at technology as an unaffordable luxury. Every "man" has a garage full of tools, but when it comes to a phone, or a computer; all of a sudden it's like owning a Rolex.
"I can't afford that shit AND I don't know how to use it."
*That* is a problem in a country that highly promotes rugged individualism.

Book one of the series 'my kpop boyfriend'. This book is based on Seungcheol of seventeen.
Chapter Two
VIP is pretty empty. There's a younger couple on one of the sofas kissing and giggling and there's a group of older males by the bar.
Brooding guy goes to buy us all drinks. As he does so he turns to look at me and says, 'Come with me, you tell me what you girls drink?' I think it was meant to be a question but it sounded more like a command. His low voice sent goosebumps all over my skin.
'Sure.' I manage and follow him to the bar where the bartender sees to him straight away. He indicates to me to speak and so I repeat what we had all been drinking so far. This is now going to be my fourth drink of the night, so it'll be my last. I don't have a huge alcohol tolerance level so it's pretty easy for me to get tipsy and when I do I tend to say what's on my mind more, which is not ideal in this situation so I'll stop at four.
He turns to look at me when the bartender starts getting our order ready, one arm leaning on the bar top.
'Rose?' He asks almost shouting over the music. I nod. 'I'm Seungcheol.'
'Seungcheol?' I repeat to make sure I'd got it right and he nods. 'How long are you in the UK for?'
    'A week?... yeah.'
'Do you come to the UK often?'
    'No. Maybe once a year.'
I nod feeling a weight drop in my stomach. This has no future then, whatever this is. This pull I feel towards him and how insanely attracted I am to him. I have never been and will never be the one night stand type of girl, it has never appealed to me. I need to feel a connection with someone before I give them that part of me.
'Have you visited South Korea?' He asks snapping me back to the here and now.
'No. I've never visited Asia. One day.'
'You've never visited but know how to bow?' He asks with an eyebrow raised at me.
'I work with a lot of Asian clients and have learnt.'
'You'd fit in well.' His eyes darken at me, 'what about moving offices and working for one abroad?' The bartender puts a few drinks down in front of us, one of them being his so his picks it up and takes a sip whilst holding eye contact with me.
'It's possible. It's happens. Most of the time transfers are a result of them being requested though not from the company expecting it.'
'How long have you worked there?'
'Since 2013. So, three years. I joined them soon after finishing university.'
'University? Brains and beauty.'
I raise both my eyebrows at him and I can't help the smile that follows. Seungcheol smirks and takes another sip of his drink.
'Did you go to university?' I ask.
'I'm currently in my last year.'
'Last year?' I ask shocked, calculating his age in my head I start to panic. He looks about my age, have I really got it that wrong? He must be about 20, 21 years old then, unless he joined later? That would make me at worst four years older than him. Wow.
'Yeah.' He squints one eye at me which causes the eyebrow to lower then as he tilts his head to the side asks, 'how much older than me are you?'
'You guessed huh.' I take a big intake of breath. 'Depends... are you twenty or twenty one?'
'International age, twenty.' His tongue touches the side of his cheek and I can't help but stare at it.
Dammit, I'm four years older than him. He looks about the same age as me. I've always been so adamant about men needing to be the same age or older for maturity levels. A year would maybe be doable but four. We'd just be in different levels. What does a twenty year old male want? Not what a 24 year old female wants anyway, right?
'I'm twenty four.' I reply, watching his reaction.
'Hmmm.' He replies nodding his head as what I said processes in his mind. I can almost see the cogs turning. 'So?' He says so bluntly.
I have to pause to make sure I'd heard him right. 'Age isn't an issue for you then.'
'Well if you ask me yesterday, I maybe say two years older, two years younger but right now it does not matter.'
I hum an noncommittal response and take a sip of my drink which I realise has appeared alongside me.
The bartender brings over the last drink and then we both take them over to our group who have occupied two of the sofas. The three girls are in one whilst the two boys are in the other. I place the girls drinks on the table in front of them and sit on the sofa opposite them with my back to the bar looking out to the rest of the club and non VIP section.
Seungcheol gives the two guys theirs and then looks over to me and points to the sofa. I nod and he comes over and sits down extremely closely to me. Manspreading his legs so that his left one is touching my right. I feel the heat of his leg instantly.
Abbey leans over the arm of the sofa and says something to the almost knocked out guy. He laughs and replies her, turning his body towards hers.
I look back to Chelsea and Megan and find Chelsea staring at me and indicating with her eyes towards Seungcheol.
Leaning forward I shout, 'this is Seungcheol.' Then I turn to look at him and say, 'this is Chelsea and Megan and that's Abbey.'
He nods and raises a hand in a wave at them both then uses said hand to point at his two friends, 'Mingyu and Younghwan.'
'Abbey is the one talking to Mingyu?' I ask and he nods at me.
As I go to reach for my drink I suddenly realise I'm still wearing his jacket so I sit back again and start to take it off. Feeling Seungcheol watching me the whole time. I hold it out to him and he takes it and places it on the arm of the sofa as I reach forward to grab my drink once again.
'I was enjoying watching you wear it.' He tells me at a level only I could hear.
I turn to look at him and he's intensely looking at me. His dark brown eyes looking straight into my blue. Goosebumps travel all over my body and I have to tear my eyes away, so I look down to his leg against mine but I can still feel him watching me.
'I was enjoying wearing it.' I reply still looking at our legs, then as I look up at him again he's smirking.
'Where are you guys staying?' I hear Abbey shout.
'Hotel.' Mingyu replies.
'Yeah which one?' Abbey replies laughing.
'I don't remember name.'
I smile at their conversation and look back to Seungcheol who then turns to look at me.
'Is Mingyu single?' I ask leaning towards him, speaking quiet enough so only he could hear.
'Why are you interested?' He asks leaning in also.
'No.' I smile, 'Abbey maybe though. What about Younghwan?'
'Married.'
I hum in response and nod.
'Are you not going to ask me?'
'Are you single?' I ask
'Are you interested?' His tongue darts to his cheek again and dammit I'm watching it and he knows it!
'That's not actually an answer. It's a deflection.' I reply, forcing my eyes back up to his.
'Okay.... Yes I'm single.'
'Yes I'm interested.'
Seungcheol bites on his bottom lip and smiles at me.
'Let's dance.' Abbey shouts to the group.
I look at her and she's already standing up and grabbing Mingyu's hand to pull him up. He gets up, pretending to be under coercion but I see excitement on his face.
As I look to Chelsea and Megan, they both stand up in unison.
I look at my drink, three quarters full and take a big sip to which Chelsea starts chanting, 'down it, down it.'
I shake my head and take another big sip.
Seungcheol stands and downs the rest of his drink in one. I look at him in shock then back to my half empty drink and follow suit. Ah wells it's my last drink.
Chelsea cheers and I can feel the guys eyes on me.
Putting the glass on the table I stand up and turn to head towards the VIP exit and dance floor.
Seungcheol puts on his jacket and then follows whilst Chelsea and Megan are already behind me.
When we walk onto the dance floor, Chelsea puts her hands onto my hips from behind me and follows me towards an empty part.
Seungcheol is the last and when he get closer to us his eyes drift up and down me as I'm already swaying to the music.
One thing I'm good at is dancing. I've been part of a dance club since I can remember. My parents putting me in to it at a young age and encouraging me to try many different styles until I found one I liked the most; urban.
Now I'm part of an academy. Most of us doing it as a hobbie, passion and form of exercise. A few however make a living from it; YouTube videos of dance practices and choreography's, some even being in music videos.
'Show him some of your sexy moves.' Chelsea whisper shouts into my ear.
'At the right time.' I reply.
Abbey however wastes no time and already starts dancing up next to Mingyu. The guy looks super awkward and like he's not sure what to do with himself.
I then notice Younghwan is not with us. I look around us but he's definitely not there.
Walking up to Seungcheol I stop in front of him, lean closer into his ear and ask, 'where's Younghwan?' and lean back again.
I feel a hand grab hold of my left arm at my elbow and when I look down I realise it's his.
Leaning in to me so he's now speaking into my ear, which sends goosebumps all over my skin, he replies 'he's not a dancer. More of a watcher.'
Pulling away I catch him look at my mouth before he looks into my eyes.
Leaning back in I put my right hand onto his bicep as I ask, 'Will he be ok on his own?'
Seungcheol briefly looks at my hand on him and I can feel him tense his muscle. When he leans in this time his eyes look at my mouth, 'he's used to it.' I hear him say then as he pulls away I feel him let go of my arm so I do the same.
Chelsea starts dancing in the middle of the group and grabs Chelsea soon after, both of them dancing against one another. Mingyu watches and laughs but when I look to Seungcheol he's watching me.
'Common Rose.' I hear Chelsea shout.
I roll my eyes to Seungcheol and then turn and join the girls in the middle.
Giving my best for a few moves I look over to him to check he's watching and every time I do his eyes are directly on me.
After a while, Abbey grabs Mungyu's arm and pulls him towards her to get him to dance. Chelsea then grabs Megan's and I look over to Seungcheol.
Instead of grabbing him I opt for a more sultry approach and indicate that he should come towards with my index finger.
He grins at me and walks towards me, holding eye contact the whole time and we all dance together as a big group.
He knows how to shake his bum I must say.
'You know what they say about men who can use their hips.' Chelsea says into my ear and I bat her away.
After several songs and messing about whilst dancing, Mingyu makes his way back to VIP, Abbey hot on his tale. Seungcheol asks if we want another drink but I politely decline. He goes back to VIP leaving us three girls on the dance floor.
'Your going to have to make the move.' Chelsea shouts at me.
'What? Why?' I shout back.
'Because you like him? Because he hasn't yet? Because you want to come home with him?'
'Well only the first two are correct' I reply.
We stay on the dance floor for a few more songs then head back to VIP.
Mingyu and Younghwan are on one sofa whilst Abbey and Seungcheol are on the opposite one. They're sat close to one another but not as close as we were. When we get close I realise the guys are talking to each other in Korean.
Seungcheol looks at me as we approach and a small smile spreads across his face. I sit on the sofa next to them whilst the girls grab the one opposite.
'We're going to go soon.' Seungcheol says to the group to which Abbey and Chelsea start to make noises of protest. 'We have a busy day tomorrow.'
'It's Saturday tomorrow?' Chelsea states.
'Yeah we still have to work on weekends.' He replies.
I don't look at him for fear of disappointment showing on my face. I feel like a huge weight has been dropped into my stomach.
He appears in front of me and sits down next to me on my sofa.
'Do you have Instagram?' He asks.
'Yes.'
'Can I have your username? Actually, can you add yourself on my account?' He holds his phone out to me with Instagram open.
I take the phone and do that then pass it back.
'I'll message you.' He tells me then stands and indicates to the other two who both get up.
They say their goodbyes and then leave and as soon as I see the door close behind them I suddenly feel like going home myself.
Chelsea jumps up and sits next to me. 'Did you just exchange numbers?' She asks.
'No, Instagram.'
'Well this night has been way more PG thirteen than I predicted. How about one more song and then we head home. I think cheesy chips are calling my name.'
So we make our way to the dance floor saying goodbye to VIP and dance to three more songs and then leave the club.
Chelsea and Abbey both order cheesy chips. Megan and myself batting them away when they try to shove one into our mouths. They would go straight onto my hips and thighs if I ate that this late at night no matter how many calories I'd just burnt dancing.
Instead as we all jump into a taxi I go onto Instagram and accept his friend request and then request to follow him back.
Soon after a notification pops up that I have a private message. Realising it's Seungcheol my heart starts to speed up.
Can I see you tomorrow?
'Let's have a look at his page then.' Chelsea says.
I send a quick reply: Yes. When and where? Then come off the messages to go onto his page but it still shows as request pending.
'He hasn't accepted me as a friend yet.' I tell her. His profile picture gives nothing away, it's not even a picture of him but of a tree.
I'll send car to pick you up if you send me your address. Come to our hotel. 7pm?
I reply with my address and then he reply's with a goodnight message which I say back.
We drop Megan off first as she's the closest. Technically Chelsea and I would then be next but we don't want to leave Abbey on her on so we drop her off then turn around to come back to ours.
'I really thought you'd be coming home with him tonight, the way he was looking at you.' Chelsea says as we kick off our shoes in the doorway.
'What way was he looking at me?' I ask
'Lustfully.' She replies then walks towards the living room, 'He had his eyes on you the whole night.'
'I'm seeing him tomorrow. That's better than a one night, never see you again.' I reply following her. I find her rummaging through the fridge.
'He's Korean. It's not like you can start up a relationship with him.' She grabs the orange juice and starts to drink from the bottle. I berate her for it and she just shrugs at me and finishes the bottle. 'That's why I thought he'd be perfect for you tonight, you both knew he's foreign, both knew what tonight meant, no feelings getting involved and what with the way he was looking at you I knew he liked you.'
I listen to her as I grab myself a glass of water and drink the whole glass, then poor myself another one to take to my bedroom.
    'He's twenty.' I tell her.
'Really?' Chelsea looks at me a little shocked, 'maybe that explains it then. He's inexperienced.'
  Frowning I ask, 'explains what?'
'Why he didn't make a move. Where are you meeting tomorrow?'
    'His hotel.'
A huge grin spreads across Chelsea's face, 'well that couldn't be anymore obvious what he has planned.'
    'I don't think it's like that.' I tell her.
'Uh huh.' She replies heading towards her bedroom, 'goodnight.'
Rolling my eyes I reply  goodnight and take my drink into my bedroom.

S02E02: (Don't) Say My Name
Pairing: Felicity x Ethan from The Adventures of You and Me
Other Characters: Austin
Prompt: Ex-lovers FelThan AU
Ahhh, she's at the McCarran International Airport once again. She never thought she would be back here... Back where everything happened.
Felicity shook her head to dismiss her thoughts. She can't be reminiscing her memories with her ex just because she's back at this nostalgic place for the both of them.
She started walking outside the airport to meet with Austin. He is a friend that she also met on her airplane ride to Nevada. They've been good friends ever since. In fact, her ex-boyfriend has always seen him as a threat because Austin admittedly had feelings for her before.
"Felicity!" She turned at the voice calling her name. There she saw her big time CEO friend, wearing the most casual clothes as if he's not the CEO of a hotel company.
"Austin!" Felicity ran towards him and embraced him tightly. "How are you doing? You're looking younger and that's so unfair! What have you been up to lately?"
"Ganun siguro talaga kapag in love," biro ni Austin.
Felicity smiled mischievously. "You have to tell me about her! Is she here in Nevada?"
He shook his head. "She's back home. She's working on a new album."
"Oh, I can't wait to hear everything about her!" Felicity squealed.
"How about you? What brings you here?" tanong naman ni Austin.
Felicity sighed heavily. Just by thinking about it, she's already dreading the entire situation. She told him about the task that her boss is requiring her to be promoted as the Lead Editor of her department.
"So your big plan is to stalk your ex for you to score an interview with him?"
"Yes."
"So that you could be promoted?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure you've moved on though?"
Felicity scoffed at him. "Well, of course!"
He squinted his eyes at her, looking unconvinced by Felicity's tone.
Sinapak siya ni Felicity dahil sa pagdududa nito sa kanya. "I'm telling you I have moved on. Besides, he also seemed like he has moved on with his life already, right? Nakukuha nga niyang bumalik-balik dito eh."
Felicity could deny it with all of her will but Austin caught the sadness in her tone even if it was just quick.
"Anyway, I booked you a room at Balai. According to my sources, he's staying there right now. I won't be giving you more details because that would be a breech of his privacy already. Ikaw na lang bahala maghanap sa kanya," sabi ni Austin.
"You're the best. You know that, right?" Felicity said sweetly.
"I already have a girlfriend. Stop flirting with me," Austin teased.
Felicity chuckled and playfully punched him on the arm. As they arrived at Balai Nevada, she linked her arm to his. "I really missed you, Austin."
"That makes two of us."
They were too caught up with each other that they didn't notice the person they bumped into at the lobby. Turns out Austin was right about her ex-boyfriend staying at Balai Nevada.
Felicity turned at the person in front of them. The expression on her face shifted from big smiles to stunned reaction. "Ethan."
"Felicity." The sound of her name in his voice changed. He had always called her name endearingly. But this time, all she could hear from his voice was hate, anger, and bitterness.
Is it even possible for her to hate her own name because of how distasteful he made it sound like?

Bait & Switch
Spencer Reid x GN!BAU!Reader
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None, super fluffy
Word Count: 3.5k words
Plot: Reader reveals that they’re going to buy a Nintendo Switch so Spencer invites them to go together with him. In the process, some feelings reveal themselves.
Author’s Note: My first time writing about Spencer, and actually, my first time writing a fic in a long time haha. Just imagine that this takes place in 2017, although you don’t have to know anything about the Switch in order to read this.
Masterlist
--------------
"What's got you in such a good mood, baby?" Derek asked, leaning over his chair. Even without looking up, you could feel the smirk that decorated his face. After almost a month at the BAU, you didn’t need to be a profiler to expect this much from Derek. "Got a date this weekend?"
You tried to focus on your paperwork before relenting, rolling your eyes. Still, you couldn't hide the smile in your voice when you shot back a reply. "With this job? You wish, Morgan."
"Give yourself some credit, beautiful. With your looks I'm sure you could score a good looking fellow for a night you won't forget."
"I'm sure you would know all about that," you replied, this time grinning from ear to ear.
Ever since you joined the BAU, your seat has always been across Derek Morgan. The guy was a terrible flirt but also one of the most trustworthy people you knew, so you couldn't keep up a sarcastic mood for long.
"Actually," you replied genuinely, "I'll be lining up this weekend to buy a Nintendo Switch." Out of the corner of your eye, you could sense Spencer stiffen in his chair next to you.
"A what switch?" Derek asked, his face scrunching up in confusion.
But before you could begin to reply him, Spencer rolled his chair over and opened his mouth. The both of you knew what was coming.
"The Nintendo Switch. A video game console developed by Japanese company Nintendo that's completely one-of-its-kind, on account of its console functioning like a tablet that can either be docked on a home console and linked to a TV, or used as a portable device with two wireless controllers so you can..."
Not being able to help yourself, you giggled at his info dump. You've always admired how much knowledge he could store in his big brain. But more importantly, you thought he was kind of cute like this. A fire would light in his eyes and it seemed like the world around him ceased to exist.
You only realised you were staring at Spencer when the last bits of his question registered in your mind. "...you going to?"
Blinking your eyes, you snapped to attention. Derek seemed to notice, because you felt his signature smirk return to his face.
"Which store are you going to?" Spencer repeated the question. Anybody else might be annoyed, but he only seemed mildly restless. A rare look for the unathletic genius.
"I'm going to the one three blocks down from here," you replied.
"So am I!" Spencer sat upright in his chair, beaming. You think that this is the most excitement he's expressed to you since you joined the BAU.
Then his confidence seemed to waver. He began tugging at the edge of his sleeve, eyes glancing to the side at nothing in particular when he asked, "W-would you like t-to go together?"
A smile spreads across your face before you can stop it. "Sure! Sounds like fun."
Spencer grinned back, and there was a moment of silence before Derek interrupted the conversation that he began. "Well, I'll leave you and lover boy to plan your date. I'm going to spend my Friday night at the bar."
Your heart thumped involuntarily at the word "date", while Derek turned to Emily. "Hey Prentiss, you want to grab a few drinks and dinner? I'm sure I can get the others to leave work for one night."
"Anything's better than this," Emily shrugged, lifting her mug of already-cold coffee.
Standing up to retrieve her bag, she smirked at you and Spencer, having heard more of the conversation than she let on. "Have a great weekend, you lovebirds. Don't do anything I wouldn't do!"
She and Derek shared a laugh as they moved towards the Batcave to retrieve Garcia next.
As you watched them go, you feel Spencer's eyes on you and a flush warming your cheeks. You knew they were just teasing you with the word "date", but the truth is you've liked the genius almost as soon as you met him.
You may not have an eidetic memory, but you could still remember the flutter of butterflies that exploded in your chest when you first laid eyes on Dr. Spencer Reid.
He had waved from a comfortable distance, the other hand tucked in the pocket of his dark slacks. He towered over you easily with curly locks that barely touched his sweater vest, and you swore you've never seen anybody more attractive in your life. His intelligence only added to your attraction.
"Shall I pick you up at 7am tomorrow?"
You turned back to Spencer, who seemed even more nervous now that everybody in the bullpen had left. Yet what he was proposing was rather bold compared to his usual behaviour.
“Pick me up?” You repeated.
“It’ll be easier to find a parking spot that way, and the weather report predicts that tomorrow will be a sunny day, so I know you’d rather not walk three blocks to the store.” He rambled nervously.
“You know me well, Spencer.” A cheeky smile snuck onto your face, and in a moment of false bravado, you said what was on your mind. “7am. It’s a date, then.”
Spencer’s face turned beet red.
You didn’t wait to dwell on his reaction, dumping the last of your paperwork into a pile and picking up your bag. But as you walked to the elevator, you couldn’t help yourself from grinning ear to ear. It was a date. Kind of.
--------------
You couldn’t sleep. You had gotten home earlier than usual, but the extra time to plan for your “date” tomorrow proved to be a bad idea.
What would you wear? What would you talk about? Should you extend it to a meal, or dessert, or maybe coffee?
Although you were confident in the moment, you were beginning to regret teasing Spencer before you left. You’d known him long enough to know how he reacted to embarrassment, and there’s a good chance he might back away because of your forwardness.
You groaned, trying to get these thoughts out of your head. The reality of the "date" was sinking in now. This would be the first time that you and Spencer would be alone in a non-work setting. To say that you were nervous was a gross understatement.
But there was something worse than showing up nervous, which was showing up nervous and sleep-deprived, so you turned off your bedside lamp and tried to will yourself to sleep. That's when your phone began to buzz.
You were so on edge that the sound almost made you fall off your bed. Turning over your phone, your heart leapt to your throat.
Spencer, 2:03am: Sorry to disturb you when it's so late, but I realised I don’t have your address. Could you send it to me when you're awake?
You gulped. Just relax, just relax, you repeated in your head.
Me, 2:05am: It’s alright, you didn’t wake me up. I’ll attach my address below.
Spencer, 2:06am: Thanks. Having trouble sleeping?
Me, 2:07am: A little
Spencer, 2:08am: Me too.
What was I supposed to reply to that? You silently screamed. But it turned out you didn't have to figure it out.
Spencer, 2:11am: To be honest, I'm a little nervous about tomorrow.
Me, 2:13am: Why?
Spencer, 2:15am: I suppose it’s because we've never spent any time alone before.
Hearing the genius act so shy made you feel a little more brave.
Me, 2:16am: Well, I'm looking forward to the chance
Spencer, 2:17am: I am too.
Despite your nerves, you smiled at his small confession.
Spencer, 2:19am: We should get some sleep.
Me, 2:19am: I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night, Spence
Spencer, 2:20am: Sweet dreams.
Your anxieties were washed away and replaced with the biggest smile on your face. Without knowing it, Spencer’s words rippled a sense of calm over you, and you fell asleep shortly after.
The next morning, you woke up with a newfound clarity. You knew what you were going to wear.
--------------
Spencer couldn't stop tapping the edge of his steering wheel. He knew he was nervous, and admitting it to you last night didn't do much to stop that fact from eating away at him.
He texted you 3 minutes ago that he was waiting outside your apartment, but you hadn't replied. Although he knew that there were plenty of logical reasons why you might have missed his text, his hands didn't stop itching to call you and see if you were alright.
Then out of the corner of his eye, you emerged from the corridor and he felt his heart speed up.
You were wearing a blue flannel that he'd never seen you in before with a pair of dark jeans. Your hair, which you usually kept in a up-do at work, was let down in waves, touching your shoulders. And then there was the pièce de résistance, you were wearing a Doctor Who t-shirt with the TARDIS on it.
Hook, line, and sinker.
He didn't break his gaze on you the entire time you got into his car. Even when you beamed at him and wished him a good morning, a small yawn escaping your perfect lips, he was completely tongue-tied.
"Earth to Spencer," you called out, looking up at him curiously. "You there?"
Spencer shook his head suddenly, cursing himself internally for being such a doofus. "Sorry, uh, I was distracted. Good morning." He smiled sheepishly, tucking a stray hair strand behind his ear.
"Anyway," he cleared his throat. "I was thinking we could grab some coffee before we headed to the store? We can make it quick. I know there'll be some people already lining up."
He peeked at you rubbing your eyes and thought it was the cutest thing he's ever seen. “Looks like you might need it," he said without realising he'd just flirted with you.
You giggled, lowering your hands from your face. "Sounds great."
--------------
Spencer wasn't lying when he said it'd be quick, although in truth you could have taken all the time in the world and you would still be happy. The initial awkwardness between you washed away almost immediately as you fell into a quiet conversation about your favourite Doctor Who episodes.
You wanted to commit the sight of him driving in the morning to memory. The sun had just rose, lighting a gentle halo around Spencer’s messy hair and sculptured face. He was wearing a bigger sweater than usual, the sleeves hanging around his wrists loosely. While his eyes were focused on the road, his lips parted slightly as he softly bantered with you about David Tennant.
You felt an overwhelming urge to reach out and kiss him despite the driving hazard. And despite the fact that you’ve never kissed him, of course. But you could hope. And hope you did.
Your hope had grown when he parked in front of the coffee house you’d once mentioned was your favourite. Spencer made your coffee order perfectly and you had found yourself hoping that it was because he’d paid extra attention to you, and not because of his brilliant memory.
And when you reached the video game store and he opened the door for you, you hoped it was because he wanted to make a good impression, not only because he was a gentleman.
And when he stood between you and a video game rack in line, you hoped that he was trying to shield you from the other people in the store, and you hoped that he was thinking of pressing you against the rack and kissing the daylights out of you.
You needed to get a hold of yourself.
The conversation had swapped to the reason why you two were here in the first place, and you found yourself talking to Spencer about Breath of the Wild, a game that brought you back to fond memories of your childhood.
“The Legend of Zelda was the first video game I ever played, on the first console I ever owned.” You shared, smiling fondly. “It was the video game that my brother and I bonded over, and we bought every game together since.”
Spencer nodded in rapt. You felt him leaning closer to you, although it may have been your imagination.
“This is actually the first time I haven’t been with him for a new game,” you realised. “Due to our jobs, we haven’t seen each other in awhile, but we still text each other!” You tried to end on a lighter note, not wanting to bring the mood down on this “date”.
Spencer looked at you as if he wanted to say something, but he kept his lips shut.
“What about you? What was your first video game?” You threw the question to him, trying to divert attention away from your sad-enough story.
He blushed in response to your question and looked down at his black converse. You noticed he began touching his sleeve in a familiar motion and you looked at him suspiciously. “Spencer?”
“W-well, the t-truth is, I didn’t actually c-come here to buy a Switch, and I don’t play video games at all.“ The last part of his sentence came out rapidly. You might have missed it, if you weren’t already used to the tongue twisters he spit out on a daily basis.
“What?” You exclaimed a little too loudly, causing the other shoppers in line to glance at you weirdly. “Then... Then what are you doing here?” You said quieter this time. Your eyebrows furrowed as your mind scanned the possibilities.
“W-well, I, uh, wanted to spend time with you,” he blurted out. He raised his eyes to meet yours, his face completely red.
It was your turn to be flustered now. Your voice was quiet and you could feel your hands shaking. “Is this a date, Spencer?”
“Only if you want it to be, I mean, I want it to be but your opinion matters to me, and I wouldn’t want to bring you on a date if you didn’t want to. We can just hang out like friends if that’s more comfortable--”
You grabbed his free hand, gently lowering it from where it was moving as he rambled, until your fingers were intertwined.
“I would like it to be,” a large smile took over your face. You were a little teary despite how weird it was to confess your feelings for him in a video game store of all places.
Spencer was quiet for a moment, squeezing your hand in return. “Would you like to go for lunch after this? As a date,” he clarified this time.
"I would love that,” you beamed at him, “as a date.”
--------------
Spencer had always imagined the kind of girl he would fall in love with. Caring, intelligent, had an appreciation for classic literature, maybe. But when he saw you for the first time, every expectation he held flew out of the window.
You were beautiful. Wavy dark hair tied into a high ponytail, wearing a navy shirt, and funnily enough, a beige cardigan and black converse. Morgan joked that it was like meeting Spencer 2.0, but he disagreed: the two of you were worlds apart.
You were incredibly tech savvy, although not as much as Garcia, but certainly more than the rest. You loved the smell and taste of coffee without sugar. You were happy to hug everybody you met, from colleagues to victims. You didn’t like paperback so you read everything on a Kindle.
But the biggest difference between the two of you, was that you were emotionally intelligent.
All of your brilliance, combined with your PhD in psychology - having worked as a psychiatrist affiliated with Sex Crimes before joining the BAU - you were able to pick out the team’s moods from a single glance. It’s what endeared everyone to you immediately, and what made you such a great profiler.
But the way you treated him was different. You just, listened to him. While everyone else had gotten into the habit of cutting him off or simply ignoring him when he opened his mouth, your eyes would light up instead.
He could always tell you were listening because you would look into his eyes when he spoke, and you would ask him questions after he was done.
It made him feel like the world around him ceased to exist, except for you.
So he started studying your interests to grab your attention, trying to throw in a few jokes hoping to see you smile. It only took one month for him to seize his chance. Still, never in his calculations did he think you would say yes.
He smiled at the thought, stroking your hair gently as you cuddled on the couch together, watching you play Breath of the Wild.
After a more than successful first date, you had asked him to come over the next day to spend more time together. A month ago, he would have politely declined with an excuse like needing to read a new academic journal, but when he arrived at your doorstep he allowed himself to be drawn into your arms, relishing the giggle he earned as a reward for being hugged.
“Damn it,” you grumbled quietly as you ran out of stamina scaling a cliffside for the fifth time.
Spencer laughed. Without a second thought, he pulled you closer and kissed the top of your head.
In the background Link fell off the cliff once again, the game playing a sound that he came to recognise as Link dying. But there were no curses this time, as you had turned to look at Spencer, nothing but adoration in your eyes.
“That was our first kiss,” you said so quietly and sweetly that Spencer’s heart melted at the sound of it.
“First?” He took his chance, leaning closer. “You know, the usage of the word ‘first’ almost always implies that there will be a ‘second’ and a ‘third’ and a...”
His voice trailed off as your fingers left the controller to touch his lips. Your touch was intoxicating and he wanted more.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Spence,” you started, lifting your finger from his lips. “I didn’t mean to interrupt you-”
“Don’t be sorry,” he managed to get out in a hurry before capturing your lips in his. He felt your astonishment at first, but you quickly lost yourself in the kiss as he brought his hands up to cup the sides of your face, deepening the kiss further.
You finally broke apart after awhile, both panting for air and smiling widely. Spencer never thought he could be so lucky. “That’s the second one,” he said quietly, bringing up two fingers to indicate the number.
You looked at him with love in your eyes and abandoned your controller on the table before throwing yourself at him, flattening the two of you against your couch.
“Ready for the third?”
--------------
Derek Morgan wasn’t an idiot. That’s why he could tell that something had changed over the weekend between his desk mate and boy genius.
The two came into work together on Monday morning, which was weird in itself, but they also took every opportunity to stick to each other, from coffee breaks to disappearing for lunch and “asking” about paperwork.
When they vanished for the umpteenth time that day for coffee, Derek leaned over Emily’s desk to confirm his theory.
“It’s not just me. Pretty boy finally made a move, didn’t he?” He cocked an eyebrow.
“Definitely. Those two are so obvious that even Hotch has picked up on it. From his office.” She quipped, grinning as her eyes moved to the scene behind Derek. “Speak of the devil.”
Entering the conversation, Spencer did what he did best. “Did you know that ‘speak of the devil’ is the short form of the idiom ‘speak of the devil and he doth appear’? The phrase can be traced back to the 16th century when mentioning the devil was considered prohibited. In fact, when people were caught saying the phrase--”
Derek caught your eyes drifting to look adoringly at Spencer. He couldn’t take this anymore. “So what happened between you two last weekend, huh?” he interrupted, smirking.
Your reaction was better than he gambled. You turned a bright red and your eyes darted between Spencer and Derek in panic, truly flustered for the first time since he’s met you. But Spencer was strangely calm, his eyes travelling from his best friend to Emily in the background trying to stifle her laughter, while a small smile tugged at his lips.
“We’re dating now,” he announced to the two a little triumphantly, while rubbing your shoulder as a peaceful gesture.
Derek and Emily were stunned by their friend’s directness, only to be shocked out of it as Hotch walked by. “Finally,” he muttered, loud enough for them all to hear.
You were the first to crack a smile, then the rest followed suit with laughs and congratulations. Hearing the uproar, Garcia and JJ peeked out of their rooms, joining in and demanding more details about this new but not entirely unexpected development.
Amidst the chaos, Spencer laces his hands in yours and gives it a squeeze. For the first time in a long time, you feel unequivocally, unmistakably happy.
