anyways this session has really solidified the reason quackity chose the people he did for me. because i remember connor getting an ask a while back complaining about how they wanted quackity to add people who would actually play instead of his friends (ie wilbur) who may not be active as often and. it rubbed me the wrong way for a lot of reasons, but mainly because it's clear quackity didn't choose just his friends. sure, it was a bonus that he was close to them, but quackity's first priority has never been "who can minmax the server and stream every day?" it's been "who is a good storyteller/who can tell a good story?"

because that's the core of it. the qsmp isn't about streaming or playtime, not necessarily. it's about the story. during the first announcement, people were surprised to see dantdm and jaidenanimations on the cast, because dan isn't really in quackity's circle and jaiden is barely an mcyt even if you push it. but you know what they were? storytellers. dan was a part of so many people's childhoods with his mod showcases and miscellaneous videos, all of which had lore. jaiden creates entire stories from video games! games with pre-determined stories that she has to spin into something new, something of her own.

and then the brazilians were added. some of them still did minecraft content, sure, but not all of them. but they were still storytellers. cellbit has his entire rpg. pac and mike have multiple roleplay series. and when you get to the french, the pattern repeats. baghera, for example, with her gta roleplay. not all of them are minecrafters at their core, but they are storytellers, and for most of them, improvisational ones at that. the same, of course, goes for the newest batch. pol is a filmmaker. vshojo has insane, deeply complex lore for all their vtubers. bagi is adept at ttrpg. sure, people being able to log on often is a necessity, but what good would that be if it ended up sacrificing quality for quantity?

this session really nailed it for me because you could see their expertise shine through. i feel like, even still, a lot of mcrp is seen as "lesser" because of its medium, or because of how it can switch between roleplay and just creators hanging out. roleplay is only typically praised and called to attention when it's highly emotional, and the same goes for the storytelling, with a heavier focus on how well creators can utilize angst as opposed to other moments. but this was treated differently. the silliness of minecraft was gone. what was previously disregarded came into light, like how fucking smart foolish is when writing characters and how well quackity is able to play into the story while staying true to his character, among other things! i just think quackity's brilliance in selecting his server members isn't talked about enough, because holy shit has he done a fantastic job

geto suguru show's up at your house, his heart pounding, his mind racing. he pauses before he knocks on your door, 'did I really just end things with my girlfriend' he thinks to himself. he can't forget that sad look on his now ex girlfriends face when he dumped her. but that was overpowered by his excitement of finally getting to be with you, with no complications, no sneaking around.

but when you finally open the door, half your body stood behind it as you talk in a hushed tone, he could feel something's off. his confidence continues to dim the more the pity in your eyes increases and just before geto can even confront you on what you did — what you didn't do. he hears the voice of the one person he thought he didn't have to think about anymore.

"babe, who's at the door," your husband calls, the husband you've had for years, the husband you've been cheating on, the husband that you told geto to not worry about, the one that you said you were going to leave.

"oh it's just a nobody," you call back to him, and your words strike geto since they were true and he could see that now. to you, he'd always be a nobody, you were never going to leave your husband. before you had a chance to apologise, to properly explain, geto turns on his heel, feeling tears spring to his eyes, and he storms down you street using all his will power to not turn and look back at you.

Alex looked up at the two people in front of him. One was a girl, in a really cool outfit. She looked much younger than the boy next to her, who seemed to be an adult, but Alex couldn’t tell. At this age, all older people seemed to mould together as ‘older than me’ and guessing ages was hard. He wasn’t even thinking about age here, because of their faces. They both looked… scared. And sad. It was kinda creepy how quickly they went from normal to freaked out just by looking at him.

Estelle seemed to have realised ur too, and she spoke up.

you were sat at your desk, fucking mountains of paperwork piled up in front of you with a pencil in your hand… for the fourth time in a row. high amounts of stress were doing you wonders! like wacky sleep schedules, mood swings, and- shit you forgot about that missing assignment again.

as if right on cue, they walk into the room and immediately notice how stressed out you seemed. they sigh, walk over to you and hug you from behind, which startled you at first… but then you felt the warmth of their arms wrapped around your waist and their chin resting on your shoulder. you softly chuckled.

“what’s this about, honey?” you asked, being unintentionally reminded of your tired ass voice.

“what do you think it’s about? you’re stressed, and i care about you. therefore, i must comfort you.” your f/o declared, a smug smile on their face.

you chuckled once more. “well, don’t keep me from working. i gotta-“

that’s when they swept you off your feet and walked you to bed. “no. at least take a break. i’ll get you anything you need; snacks, drinks, sleep,” they chuckled, “just know that you’re safe with me, ‘kay? and later, i could help you with your work if you want.”
