I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"

Thinking again about New Management AU and it just occured to me
If I go the blorbo route and stick to Roxy as being the first one because she's one of the biggest pains in the ass they have to keep making compromises for, then wouldn't she kinda go mad with power
Like, there's no way she'd believe she was given any power out of nowhere like that! Wouldn't she test this by making the stupidest demands possible just to be like "Ha! I told you I had no power!"
The question is, what would she do to test it? Something very much against the rules probably.

one of my bajillion paid survey apps just sent me a survey about:
whether i would be interested in watching a movie based on goncharov (1973)
whether i think a goncharov movie should be made
if i signed up for/retrieved a tumblr account after the twitter fiasco (interestingly, there was no option for "i've literally been using tumblr for the past five years")
terrifying. how do we get the corporate spies out of our internet

The reason why 2000's cgi looks better than modern is because they also tended to use practical affects alongside it. But nowadays, movie studios don't seem to want practical effects, just shoddy CGI on its own that is easy to produce
Ohh, I see, that makes sense. This made me remember that my brother said something along the same lines, that they used to use more built sets which made everything feel more real. Practical effects and CGI are a brilliant combo if the 2000s are anything to go by, it's such a shame modern movie studios are wimps and losers

I hate how now every time a discourse is being had about classic Disney movies, the godawful remakes (or retellings) have to be included in the conversation. It's no longer just the animated movie that is adressed. You can't discuss Aladdin without its 2019 remake, Sleeping Beauty without its 2014 remake, The Little Mermaid without its 2023 remake, Beauty and the Beast without its 2017 remake, The Lion King without its 2019 remake, Mulan without its 2020 remake, etc, etc, etc. I hate how they will be forever attached to these classic movies. It actually pisses me off to no avail.

It's so funny to me how the shopkeeps n such in old movies and the twilight zone are always shown as mature respectable adults, while the cashiers in movies these days are always comedically young/bored/bepierced individuals who the main characters don't take seriously
