I will always find the fact that Eric loved and accepted Ariel as she was, presumably mute (without being aware of what had taken place prior at all) to be very loving and amazing. That goes to show how much he loved her and also how much of a compassionate and patient person he was. This is also the only Disney Princess couple where one party wasn't even human, and that did not bother him at all, either. I think that's a great message to send to children, and since the movie has a leading lady, to girls, specifically. You will be able to find a guy who loves and accepts you as you are and will support you in your dreams.

Fandom Problem #4793:
You know what’s bothersome?
When queer people on Tumblr feel the need to justify liking “het ships” by pretending that those ships are actually queer. Or claiming that a “het ship” is only good because it’s “like a queer ship.”
I get that a lot of folks say that as a joke or meme or whatever. Of course, everyone’s entitled to their headcanons, and fictional romances involving opposite-sex couples (especially as a subplot) are often poorly developed because of heteronormativity and toxic gender stereotypes. BUT I also sense an undercurrent of heterofatalism on this site. There seem to be a lot of people on Tumblr who believe that straight men are generally incapable of genuine love and empathy.
It’s like all these Millennials and Gen Z folks have bought into the Boomer narrative that all straight couples are miserable because men and women are just incapable of understanding each other. It’s pretty sad.

The Hunger Games, Actual Teen style!
On the left, 15-year-old Josh Hutcherson.
On the right, 16-year-old Jennifer Lawrence.
Think how much creepier it would be to see them killing other kids when they look so squishy-cheeked and little.

I hate the “we should have child free cafes but not dog free cafes” and the “kids shouldn’t be out in public” shit that’s getting popular again cause whenever you ask them why they hate kids they say their loud annoying etc.
Just because another person is inconvenient for you doesn’t mean they don’t get to exist in public.

One time I had someone calling me racist repeatedly on Tumblr, and I kept asking why they thought I was racist, and they kept replying by calling me like every slur in literal existence for white people.
Upon finding out I was black, instead of apologizing or backpedaling, they just openly started calling me a n*gger.
Liberals, ladies and gentlemen. They're so against racism that they're just racist.
And they try to convince everyone that it’s actually us who are racists lmao.
Like I don’t know maybe the people who start throwing racial slurs around the second a person disagrees with them are the actual racists here 🤷♀️

I don't understand why TLM 2 tried so hard to emphasize and clarify how much Ariel is like her mother in terms of personality when she is, in the movie, quite frankly, written to be more like Eric in character. She was really primarily introverted, shy, awkward, tomboyish, mild-mannered and more serious, which is more like her father. I guess it was her impulsive, curious, rebellious and reckless nature that made the characters in the movie go, "Ow, she is so like her mother!", but I don't know, whenever I see Melody, I see her as closer to her dad. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who sees it this way. I don't believe for one second that NO ONE in that universe was able to notice the similarities she had with her father. C'mon, she even has his doggone smile! 😂
