Us & You Pt 2
DILF Kirishima Eijiro x Teacher Reader
Tumblr media
Context: Kirishima Eijiro has done everything to forget Bakugou Katsuki in his life and just focus on his daughter, his amazing and loving daughter. The light of his eye. Due to an incident, Eijiro meets you, a teacher at his daughter school who he can’t help but fall for. However, as his daughter grows older and questions start being asked, it feels like the peace he tried to cultivate is slipping through his fingers.
Note: First menstrual cycle, mentions of blood, first bra shopping!!!, mention of alcohol, Single dad Eijiro.
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE READING THIS SHORT SERIES: There will be some deep discussions about morality, children, abortion arguments pertaining to Pro life vs Pro choice as well as the father’s role in raising a child/conceiving a child. It also deals with the struggles of being a single parent. It’s very messy and very much real life. Katsuki is Trans in this story (mostly cause I couldn’t find another character to be Sachiko’s mom and you’ll see why).
[PART 1] [AO3 Link]
Eijiro sprayed some of his cologne on his neck as he looked himself in the mirror. He tried not to be nervous but he would be lying if he said he wasn’t. He hadn’t been on a date in years and honestly, he felt a bit rusty. He tried to look his best for the date he had with you tonight but he wasn’t entirely sure how it would go, but he was optimistic. I mean, he had spent the last two weeks texting you non-stop and enough for Akari to start getting suspicious and report back to the rest of his sisters who were now all hounding him for details.
Eijiro didn’t want to say anything. He never liked to say anything about the first couple of dates. He knew that those things were uncertain. You could never truly tell how it would fall and he just hoped that he wouldn’t regret it.
But there just seemed something about you that had him lowering his guard a bit. That had him feeling raw and open. Honestly it had him terrified, but maybe it was a good thing.
“Daddy,” Sachiko walked to stand in the doorway in her home clothes. She was dressed comfortably in sweatpants and a hoodie. At the sight of her father all dolled up she had her eyebrows raised in surprise. She tilted her head to the side almost like a confused puppy, her wide red eyes staring at him. “Where are you going?” She asked.
“I…” He started as he turned to face her. “am going on a date.”
Sachiko let out a sound in surprise, not having expected that. She didn’t really know anything about her father’s love life, nor did she think he even had a love life, so he must be really happy about this one to tell her that. Or maybe it was just a sign that she was getting older enough to understand. She walked over to him. “With who?” She asked. She moved to pick up styling cream. Eijiro helped move her onto the counter to sit there as she started to do his hair. “Do I know who she is?”
Eijiro let out a sigh. “You do.” He wasn’t going to dance around it. He’s number one priority was his daughter, which also meant her acceptance too. Even though here he wanted to be selfish, if this went well, it would affect her too.
She sat up excitedly at an idea. “Are you finally getting together with Aunty Mina?” She asked almost in hope.
Eijiro laughed as he shook his head. “No, pumpkin. Mina and I are just friends.” He reminds her, earning a disappointed sigh from her as she started to drag her hands through his locks, pushing his hair back, allowing the black locks of hair to look glossy. “No… you are actually the reason we met.”
“Really?”
He nodded his head confirming it. Sachi thought about it but came up short. She wasn’t entirely sure who it could possibly be. She just hoped you would be pretty and nice to her father at least, before anything else. He hesitated for a moment before looking into the mirror. “How would you feel if I told you that I was taking Ms Y/N on a date?”
Sachiko paused as she looked up at her father surprised. “The maths teacher?” He nodded his head. She was silent for a moment as she thought it over in her head. The small second of a moment made his heart pause. She let out a smile looking up at him. “She’s nice, I like her. I think you’d be nice for each other.” She expressed as she hopped off the counter and turned to wash her hands. Eijiro’s eyebrows raised in surprise at her response. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting from her but he wasn’t really sure if it was that. She turned to look back at him. She smiled up at him, looking him over before returning her crimson eyes up to him. “She likes certain flowers, not all of them, she really does like acts of service more than gifts but she likes being spoiled too. Don’t be afraid of being too much, she likes to see the real you more than anything.” Sachi advised.
Eijiro raised an eyebrow amusedly but chuckled. “Okay then.”
“Also don’t ask about past partners. She dated this one guy called Sanemi, he was such a bad guy. We don’t like him.”
Eijiro just nodded, knowing never to question why girls don’t like specific people. “We do not like Sanemi.” He affirmed. He then looked down at Sachiko with a raised eyebrow. “Why does it feel you’re supporting her more than me.”
“I never said that.”
“Mhm.” He looked down at her suspiciously, making her give him a bright sharp grin that only made him laugh.
You sat across from Eijiro at a fancy restaurant you had learned that he loved to visit. It wasn’t necessarily too expensive that you couldn’t even afford more than the water but it was very much not for anything casual. The two of you were laughing more than anything, sitting across from each other at your table. You had tried dressing to impress, a simple black dress and heels, nothing too extravagant but it seemed to be a smart choice, considering he came in all black too.
You couldn’t help but admire how handsome he was. He truly was the most gorgeous man you had ever seen. With ruby eyes that seemed to be so gentle and warm and looked at you as if you were the only thing worth noting, long dark hair that you thought made him unbelievably more sexy and not to get started on how big he was. He practically dwarfed you and you couldn’t help but think about it a lot.
When you had told Melissa about him, she was super excited.
“Who is he? What does he look like? Oh he’s sexy and a DILF. He kinda looks familiar. Where did you find him? Does he have a brother?”
Something you left to the end to tell her was how he was over ten years older than you. Now you didn’t really see a problem in that really, I mean he was nice, clearly has done well for himself so far and he wasn’t just into you because you were younger than him or something like that. You actually liked that he was older than you. It made you feel almost like he had everything under control. Almost like… well… like he could take care of you.
“So you can imagine how much of a bully she is in the work space.” Eijiro commented on a story he was telling you about his older sister, Akari who seemed dead set on using him to her hearts content.
You couldn’t help but giggle at the thought. “Okay, has your family dynamic always been so close?” You asked leaning forward, dinner having been long over as you were waiting on desert.
Eijiro chuckled as he lifted the glass of wine to his lips. “Yah, fortunately we have. We’ve always been pretty close knit. My father worked a lot but somehow always made time for us, and my mother was a stay at home mom so we really had everything we needed together. I really appreciate them, especially…” You watched him hesitate for a moment. You saw the gears turning in his head but it seemed as though he decided it was better to say it. “Especially when I found out about Sachi.”
You hummed, “That must have been hard, raising her so young.”
He nodded with furrowed eyebrows. “It was.” He put down his glass. “But my family made it easier.”
“You and Sachiko’s mom…” You were hesitant to talk about it but it was something you thought you should be a little bit aware about if you were going to deal with some psycho ex or something. You watched your desert come, plated in front of the both of you. You gave the waiter a smile, waiting for him to leave before continuing. “Are the two of you on good terms?” You asked him.
Eijiro didn’t answer immediately. He wasn’t sure how to answer if he was entirely honest, he didn’t know how to give you that answer. It was a messy explanation and one he wouldn’t want to go into but he knew he should at least answer you that much. He shifted uncomfortably in front of you, instantly making you feel bad.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-”
“No, no, it’s okay.” He stopped you with a forced smile, raising a hand to stop what you were saying.  “Uh… We aren’t speaking to put it lightly. We haven’t spoken for years, since… he gave up all parental rights, actually. A bit after that.” Your eyebrows raised slightly at the mention of he. Eijiro cleared his throat as he picked up his fork and stabbed the cake slice on his plate. “You don’t have to worry about that, if it’s something you’re concerned about.”
You immediately put a smile to your face not wanting to alarm him or make him feel more uncomfortable than how you forced him to be just now. “I just wanted to find out if I have to fight off crazy ex’s.” The comment made him laugh, lightening the mood.
He shook his head. “No crazy ex’s. Just one eleven year old and seven nosey sisters.” He reminded you.
“The eleven year old seems to be the big underlying factor.”
“Definitely.” He lifted his wine glass up to his lips, some expensive wine from a year so far back you were sure they didn’t even know how to store wine properly back then. “It’s hard.” He started, looking down at the wine in his glass. “Raising her in such a world nowadays.” Eijiro had this odd way of answering you and yet withholding somethings of what he thought as well. It was almost as if he was hesitant or maybe even scared to share his full heart with you.
You nodded your head, moving to pick up your spoon. “It sure is. The world is basically raising them and that can influence so many factors. Especially at such a young age where girls are so impressionably.” You furrowed your eyebrows at the thought as you shook your head. “All those magazines, online models, influencers and adverts that show them unrealistic expectations of their body and how they should look like. It really makes them all so depressed about how they look nothing like them.”
“Right!” You looked up half surprised at the show of emotion from him. “It gets me so worried constantly. I mean, Sachi has always been more on the girly side, which I don’t mind cause I think it suits her and I want whatever makes her happy, but then I hear from her friend’s mothers that I’m not allowing my daughter the freedom of expression. That I’m forcing her to wear girly clothes. Like honestly, they speak to me as if I don’t know my own daughter. I don’t-”
You watched as Eijiro got so passionately heated about this. You watched his facial expressions change and morph as he speaks with his hands and motioned around broadly about everything he was saying. You leaned forward, your head resting on your fist as you watched him, half forgetting about dessert entirely.
It was the first time you had heard him speak so much in succession, unsurprisingly it was about Sachiko but you found it cute. He was her father after all and that was his world. Trying to be a good parent for her. And hearing him ramble about how he was so close to punching some ten year olds mother all because she assumed that as a single father he was stereotyping his daughter, was both amusing and also amazing to see. You loved to watch him as he talked, it only made him more handsome.
“I don’t know how anyone can deal with that woman. I don’t like sending Sachiko to sleepovers and playdates because of that sort of influence. Who knows what she’s saying to her own child let alone mine when I’m not there. I don’t need Sachiko thinking the way we live his weird or odd.” Eijiro turned to look at you. You watched him with a fascinated look in your eyes as you just stared at him with a gentle smile. Eijiro hesitated but realised he had been talking your ear off. “Sorry,” He scratched the back of his head with a cheesy smile. “I didn’t mean to-”
“You’re valid for feeling such a way. What she said wasn’t right with any substantial proof and it isn’t like Sachiko looks uncomfortable in what she wears either. You are right for just letting her be.” You interrupted him but confirmed everything he was saying.
For a moment Eijiro stared at you before pulling on another smirk. He scoffed and nodded his head. “Yah… I guess I am.” Suddenly it felt like the heat was switched onto you. He leaned to the side, a slight smirk on his face as he kept his eyes on you, his eye contact making you feel rather funny inside. “So tell me… how are you still single?”
You let out a chuckle. “What?”
“I’m serious.” He affirmed as he tilted his head. “How is it that you’re still single? Is it by choice? Looking and just haven’t found the right one?”
“I could ask you the same question.”
“Oh sweetheart, no you can’t.” His voice dropped as he chuckled. It sounded so condescending and yet so delicious on his tongue. It made the butterflies in your stomach flutter even more. “I have a lot more experience in the dating world than you. I chose to be single. You… You’re young,” He started listing on his fingers, “Well educated, you have a job, you’re beautiful, good with children, I don’t see why you aren’t swooped off your feet yet.”
You shrugged lightly, a slight smirk of your own as you looked back to him. “I am here, aren’t I?” You asked softly. You saw his eyebrow twitch at that. You eased as you looked down with a more forced smile. “No… guys my age… just aren’t ready for the level of commitment and respect that I want in a relationship. I’m tired of hookup culture. I want to fall in love and go on pretty dates and have simple days that are just one in a thousand but mean the world. I don’t want the constant partying and hopping from couch to bed to bar.” You motioned with your spoon around. “It’s… it’s hard… Call it what you will but…” You sighed as you looked off to the side for a moment.
You weren’t lying. It was tiring always being met with guys who said your expectations were too high just for asking for loyalty and respect. You wanted to be someone’s everything. You didn’t want to be their side thing or one of the many girls in their roaster. You didn’t want a just a guy, or a boyfriend. You wanted a man. You wanted your boyfriend. But life had its way of flipping you around.
“Hey Y/N.” You hummed, still absently staring off at the way to the kitchen of the restaurant. “Y/n… Y/N, look at me.” You turned to look at him, noticing that he had his large hand over yours. The way he seemed to dwarf you always made you felt small but the way he was looking at you made you feel something else. It made you feel… His warm ruby eyes looked at you gently, almost as if he was listening to everything you were saying and everything you didn’t. He gave you a gentle smile. “You aren’t asking for too much.”
Since then the two of you had been moving around each other like two fish in a pond. Never mind the fact that Eijiro was more like a shark, but it worked. He would text you whenever he got the time to, and often than not you would both talk your way through lunch if you were able to with your schedule. Marking and teaching plans took a lot of your time, and although Eijiro couldn’t organise himself to save his life, he did give you some advice he learnt from his personal assistant. He was cute that way.
He always had this way of making you feel so taken care of. Randomly you would receive gifts from him, either via post, on your dates or through Sachiko (who you always knew was carrying a gift for you from her dad, cause she would randomly pitch up before lunch to your classroom with a grin on her face that made you giggle every time you saw it).
One thing very noticeable about your new relationship was physical affection. You both loved it which was much of a relief. The first time he came to your apartment (Thanks Cammie for staying the night away), you both ended up on your couch him practically pushing you down into the cushions. You loved how large he was. It was hot. Literally because his body ran like a furnace. He always had a hand on you whenever you went on dates. On your hip, holding your hand, behind your neck, on your cheek. Wherever. It was amazing. Besides he had this element of control that left you breathless and eager for more.
But there was one rule that Eijiro had that had stayed strong. No sex.
It wasn’t a rule you had a problem with, finding it okay with you because you didn’t need sex to make a relationship (Eijiro was relieved to know you weren’t bothered by it). However, when things did get hot and heavy and you could both feel the ache of each other with your breaths hot and your lips numb and messy, he always pulled away. You had to applaud his self-restraint but it also made you wonder what made him so hesitant. So… dare you say… scared?
You had a feeling it had to do with being put in the same situation that he was put in when it came to Sachiko, one he never really delved deep in, for reasons you didn’t think he would say for a while. Whatever happened in the past, you didn’t judge nor guess. You let it be.
Eijiro was also a very protective person as you had learned to realise and also knew from the first day you met him. The first day that you would spend the day with both Eijiro and Sachiko was a planned one. One on comfortable ground for the two of them, in their apartment, safe. You would come over, make some lunch, bake some brownies and see how Sachiko responded. It was more of a test for Sachi and how she would feel with actually seeing that her dad and you were in a relationship and happily so, which meant you would be around her more often in such a relaxed setting.
It was planned to the ‘t’ of perfect and Eijiro had already planned everything.
That was until some unexpected events happened.
A scream ripped through the apartment, instantly jolting Eijiro awake. There was only one other person in the apartment that could have such a high-pitched scream and it instantly forced Eijiro stumbling out of bed. His heart racing in his ears as he tore the blankets off of him and quickly got onto his own two feet. “SACHI!” He shouted as he threw open the door, making it bang against wall as he ran down the corridor to her room.
He threw her bedroom door open.
Standing still in her frilly pyjamas was Sachiko who looked absolutely terrified as she looked to her bed. The fluffy bedding was pushed back to reveal a rather large stain of blood right there on the sheet of the mattress. Tears streamed down her face as she looked between the bed and her father. Her shorts were also a crimson red as well. Before anything could be said, she raced into the bathroom and locked the door.
Eijiro paused for a second trying to take everything out.
Okay. Blood.
Blood, bad.
Blood from Sachiko… That’s bad.
Sachiko not in pain?
So not that bad?
Blood, pyjama pants, tears, bed.
Eijiro’s shoulders dropped when it hit him, slight relief washing over him.
Period.
He had read about it in one of the many parenting books that he purchased every time Sachiko reached a new stage in her life. The pubescent stage was one he was not looking forward to but one he knew he had to handle. Turns out his reading would have to come into practice.
“Sachi…” He walked over to the door of her bathroom and knocked on it. “Sachi, sweetheart, please open the door. It’s okay.”
“No, its not!” He heard her sob from the other side. “Daddy, I’m dying!”
“You’re not dying sweetheart.” He spoke gently at the door. “You’re just… you’re growing up and you’re experiencing your first period. It’s just blood. Your aunts all went through it too. I promise we can solve this, just please,” He knocked on the door. “Open the door.”
“NO! You’re a boy, you don’t understand!”
He sighed as he brought a hand to his forehead trying to think what to do. This was getting nowhere and he knew breaking the door down wouldn’t help either. She clearly was embarrassed and scared and this wasn’t something it seemed she wanted his advice on either. Not that he had much. All he learnt from his sisters was don’t make them angry, give them chocolate or whatever they were craving and painkillers.
If she didn’t want to talk to him about it, he would have to respect that, for at least as long as her emotions were running high and she was like this. But who could he call? Akari wasn’t in town at the moment, only coming back tomorrow from a business trip. Ayah was visiting her husband’s parents. Hana was abroad, Tamami was at varsity (probably in a class) and the twins were still living with his parents. None of his female relatives were nearby.
Eijiro paused.
Well… it looked like you’d be visiting the Kirishima residence sooner than you all thought.
It didn’t take you long before you were at their door, and Eijiro allowed you in. You looked up to see Eijiro looking dishevelled. He still stood in what seemed to be shark boxers and was shirtless, he looked so relieved to see you there. You chuckled as he allowed you to step in. “You look like you’ve been through somethings.”
He slumped as he sighed. “You don’t know the half of it. I’m sorry to do this to you so early, Y/N.”
You shook your head with a friendly smile. “Oh please, Eijiro, it’s nothing I can’t handle.” You put a hand to the side of his face making him relax for a moment. You smiled up at him before looking around. “I apologise for being a bit late, I had to stop at the store to grab a few things. Where’s Sachiko?”
Eijiro motioned for you to follow him. You looked around the apartment. It was rather homey and yet also had a warm feeling too it. Despite knowing and seeing that it looked expensive, you could tell that a family lived here. On the walls you saw photos of Eijiro and Sachiko at various different times. There was one where Sachiko looked like a newborn and Eijiro didn’t seem aware of the photo that was being taken as he held her to his chest.
“I’ve been noticing over the past couple of months she’s been…” He hesitated as he glanced back at you. “Changing.” He tried putting it.
“And recently she was a lot more moody than normal. I thought maybe something was bothering her with her friends but apparently not.” He opened the door to another room. The bed was stripped of all its bedding and sheets, leaving a clean white mattress on the bed stand. You saw this as Sachiko’s bedroom with the amount of pastels, white and fluffy pillows and stuffed animals and fairy lights. He walked over to another door that was closed. Next to the door was a pillow with a clean change of clothes there. You motioned to them as he turned to face you. “She bled through her shorts.” He explained. “I think its best if you…” He motioned between you and the door and random other emotions with his hands. You chuckled and nodded.
You stepped closer to the door and knocked on it lightly. “GO AWAY!” You heard her shout from the other side.
“Sachiko.” You started as you leaned your head against the door. “It’s me, Miss Y/N. Are you okay, hun? Your dad and I are really worried about you.” At first you didn’t hear anything. You looked back to Eijiro and motioned for him to move out of sight. “I promise that your father isn’t here. It’ll just be you and me, sweetheart. I can try and help.”
It took a moment before you heard shuffling. The door opened and peeping through a crack in the door was Sachiko. Her face was flushed pink and her eyes were pink from crying. She sniffed as she looked up at you. “Are you sure he’s gone?” She whispered.
You chuckled and nodded your head, “I promise.” You whispered back.
With that, she let you in, opening the door for you to squeeze through. You took the change of clothes as well as you entered the bathroom. Sachiko moved to sit inside her bath tub away from you. “Sorry. I don’t want the blood everywhere.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart.” You moved to walk and sit outside the bathtub on the cool tiles, leaning over to rest your head on the edge as you were eye-level with her. You put down your bag that you were carrying and the change of clothes and faced her. “What happened, Sachiko?” You asked her softly.
She wiped her nose with a tissue as she looked at you. “I woke up with tummy cramps. I thought I just needed the bathroom but when I got up, I thought I peed myself. I looked down and all I saw was blood. It scared me.” She had her arms wrapped around her legs, keeping her limbs close to herself.
“And that’s okay. It’s alright to be scared.” You reminded her. “You know, your daddy was very scared to when he couldn’t reach you or help you.”
“I just…” She sighed as she rested her head on her arms. “I didn’t want to weird him out. It’s weird and icky.” She whined.
You couldn’t help but laugh and nodded your head. “It is weird, but it’s also natural. Your dad knows that, and you should too. Yah its blood coming out of a place that isn’t so nice to talk about and your body is changing a lot too, I know it’s weird and you’ve probably been feeling really gross in your body.”
She nodded her head affirmatively. “Mhm! Especially that weird white stuff that’s on my panties. That’s why I decided to wash all my own underwear.”
You smiled in amusement but proud of her resolve. “That’s called discharge, sweetheart. It’s just your bodies way of cleaning out your private parts naturally. Everything has a purpose. Even periods. Your uterus gets nice and ready for a baby that doesn’t come, with nice pillows (that’s what the blood is, by the way) and then when there isn’t one, your uterus gets very angry and, it tears it all off and it can only go out one way.”
Sachiko scrunched up her face. “But I don’t want a baby.”
You chuckled. “I know, but your body doesn’t know that. It just knows that you’ve reached puberty and you can have one, not that you should.”
Sachiko frowned as she huffed. She shook her head with a negative sound making you giggle, her ponytail moving back and fourth. She took a moment to think as she stayed where she was. Her black eyebrows furrowed before she looked up at you, rather shyly. “Do… Do you have a pad I could borrow?”
You gave her a smile as you reached into your bag and pulled out a whole packet. “I have a whole bag you can have.” You carefully picked up the new changed of clothes and handed it to her. “Do you know how to use one?” She shook her head. “Don’t worry, I can teach you.”
It took a few attempts and some praise but soon, Sachiko had changed into a tank top, and new fluffy lounge pants. With her more comfortable and her pyjamas now soaking to be washed, you could have a talk to her about puberty. She seemed to have a lot of questions that she felt too scared to ask her father about.
You talked about a whole bunch of things. You taught her the different symbols for flow on pads and tampon packaging, you gave her a box of pantyliners too and what those were used for. You also gave her a new little bag that you called a “Period pouch” with something of everything for her to put in.
You also taught her the most important thing in every female’s life, getting blood out of clothes. Because nothing is more necessary than knowing how to clean blood stains out of your favourite pair of undies.
With all the period stuff out of the way she could ask you all the stuff she wanted to ask.
Like about training bras. Turns out she owned training bras (good job Eijiro), but she needed ones with padding now and she really didn’t understand how the measurements on bras worked. You noted that in your head, promising to take her shopping soon to go buy her own ones (she thought it best you also ask Eijiro about this as well).
The two of you stoked up and organised her bottom drawer to suit her new needs. After some encouragement, you both left the room hand in hand (mind that you had to remind Sachiko that she doesn’t need to walk like a duck the whole time). You both went to the kitchen where Eijiro stood now in sweatpants, still shirtless of course but he wore an apron that read “That’s not burnt, that’s flavor” on it. Funny enough, his pan was on fire.
“Oh no.” He let out with wide eyes as he looked at the blaze in front of him. He lifted the pan and put it to the sink, effectively washing the fire away along with the bacon. He scratched the back of his head with furrowed eyebrows. “What was in those spices?” he asked himself as he moved to pick up a bottle.
You looked to Sachiko wide eyed. She looked up at you with crimson round eyes that weren’t the least bit surprised. “I do most of the cooking.” She informed you with a sigh. “Otherwise, we would starve.”
That comment made you laugh, getting the attention of Eijiro. Upon seeing the both of you, he lit up. “Hey! Sachi, you’re free!!” He moved to wipe his hands and meet the two of you halfway. “I was so worried.” He put his hands on her shoulders. “I know that growing up is weird and gross and you don’t want to talk about it with your old man, that’s okay, I get that. Just know that I’m here for you okay. I ordered some ice-cream and chocolate from the store, it should be here soon and-” You looked down at Sachiko as she stared up at her father. The giant of a man rambling off about all those things but all she got out of it was that he cared. And that was enough for her. “And I bought one of those warm heat patchy things that you can stick on your tummy, it had good ratings online and-” He was stopped by a tight hug from Sachiko, her face buried against his skin as she held on tightly to him.
“Thanks Daddy.” She whispered.
You watched as his ruby eyes softened at the sight of his daughter, putting a hand on her head. “It’s no problem, little miracle.” He ruffled her hair. Taking Sachiko and your attention was the large man sniffing as he started rubbing at his eyes. She raised an eyebrow up at him as he sniffled. “You’re so big now.” He let out in a wavering voice. “You were just my little girl and now…” He looked away as he tried to fight the tears.
“Daddy, don’t cry.” She urged as she pat his back, which only seemed to make the tears worse. You smiled at the dear sight, watching him so soft and sweet with his daughter. They were two peas in a pod, and clearly very much alike.
He wiped his eyes. “Oh dear.” He sniffed as he looked down at her. “I guess now it’s time to cut your hair.”
“Cut my hair!?” She asked confused, her eyebrows furrowed. “Why?”
Eijiro let out a breath as he scratched the back of his head. “Well, it’s just to symbolise a new part in your life. You’re growing up. All I know is that whenever one of my sisters had their periods for the first time, they cut their hair to their shoulders.” He told her. She let out a hum as she put a hand to her chin. “But if you don’t want to-”
“I wanna cut my hair.” She smiled. She then turned to look at you. “But all of this is thanks to Miss Y/N.”
You perked up at that. You waved a hand down and chuckled. “It’s nothing really. Although, how about I cook because, Eijiro you looked like you were starting a fire.” You joked as you pat his bicep, moving to the kitchen.
He looked at you offended before turning to look down at Sachiko with a shocked expression. She giggled at his face. “Did you hear that?”
“She isn’t wrong.”
He let out another dramatic gasp only making her giggle. You chuckle and shook your head as you moved over to grab an apron that was hanging off the wall. You noticed that at least his eggs looked good. You looked around for a pan. Sachiko moved Eijiro to force him to sit down, telling him that he wasn’t allowed to touch a pan for the rest of the day. “Let me help.” She grabbed you another pan before handing it to you.
You smiled over at her appreciatively. “Thank you, mind if you grab me some beans and tomatoes?” She nodded her head as she bustled around, trying to find what you were looking for.
Eijiro sat at the island table watching the both of you star eyed. Something told him that this would work out just fine.
Now after that, you were over at the Kirishimas probably more than you were at your own apartment (much to Melissa’s love and abuse of). It seemed as though with you bonding so much with Sachiko, something was lit inside of Eijiro you didn’t know how to describe. It was almost as if he was all over you now, which you totally didn’t mind. You found it amusing.
You and Sachiko also dragged Eijiro shopping, which he surprisingly didn’t mind as much. He got to see the both of you work together and drag him around a mall all afternoon while he got to spoil his two favourite girls. What more could a man ask for? However, Eijiro didn’t expect the last stop on the shopping list.
“Uh… what are we doing here?” He asked as he looked up at the underwear store in front of him with wide eyes, not entirely sure what he had gotten himself into. The poor man seemed to have gotten pale at the sight.
Sachiko turned to her father and motioned over somewhere else. “You can sit outside, Daddy. Ms Y/N and I have important business here.”
Eijiro raised an eyebrow to you. You raised your hands in surrender. “She asked to get her first bra. It seemed alright with me.”
He then turned down to Sachiko with a tilt of his head. He then folded his arms and shook his head. “I’m going in the store.” He said adamantly. The large man let out a huff in protest.
“Daddy.” Sachiko whined as she looked up at him with a frown. “But this has nothing to do with you.”
“It has to do with you.” He reminded her, motioning to the smaller girl in front of him. “and that has everything to do with me.” He nodded his head factually.
Sachiko frowned with a pout to her lips making you chuckle at the two opposing sides. You stood between the both of them, one hand to Sachiko’s shoulder and one to Eijiro’s bicep. “Now, now you two. Let’s be logical about this. Eijiro, you are paying for it so you get to come in the store, but it’s going to be Sachiko making the decisions here and it’s just going to be the two of us picking out things. Okay?” You looked at both Kirishimas. They frowned at each other but nodded their heads. You chuckled before leading father and daughter inside.
Sachiko looked around with wide eyes at all the different fabrics and sizes. Eijiro, however, looked like a sinner in a church. You had never seen the man more nervous. You almost found it amusing to see such a big man so nervous.
You moved with Sachiko to one of the store attendants. She smiled. “Hello, how can I help you?”
You put your hands on Sachiko’s shoulders. Her wide crimson eyes grew wider as she looked at you and then to the woman in front of her. “We’re here for her first bra.”
The woman, her name being Chiyo, she gasped with a bright smile. “Oh, it’s a special day then.” She teased Sachiko making the girl blush a shade of pink. “I’ve got just the selection for you. I’m sure you’ll love them. Now, they do have adjustable straps for if your chest grows bigger and heavier, although I think you might be an A-cup already but let’s measure…” She led the two of you to get measured with a measuring tape and then she tried to guide Sachi on colours that would best go with what type of top or for school or more supportive ones for sport.
You watched proudly, trying to see the little butterfly make decisions on her own (although you did feel special with her coming to you for your opinion). You did notice that on the other side of the shop was Eijiro being swarmed by another attendant and another woman as well. He seemed to have a tense smile as he looked down at the both of them, sweating like- again, a sinner in a church. You couldn’t help but giggle at the sight.
“And you, miss?” You turned to Chiyo who had given Sachiko her items to try on. “You’ve been helping your daughter but you haven’t gotten anything for yourself.”
“My-” You paused. You smiled. “This is more for her than it is for me.” You told her. “But…” You glance over to Eijiro who seemed back against a shopping rack ready to make a bolt for it. “Do you have any lingerie in red?”
You had managed to get yourself a cute set, which you wanted to try on in the changing room. You tried on the lacy blood red bra that admittedly hugged you extremely well. You thought about maybe sending pictures to your large burly boyfriend about this.
Then you heard it. “Y/N.” You heard a loud whisper call out your name in the hallway of the fitting room.
You perked up at the sound. You stuck your head out into the hallway to see Eijiro searching for you. The moment he saw you he quickly dived in with you away from the outside. He put his back to the curtain with a concerned look on his face. You raised an eyebrow and chuckled. “Eiji? What’s going on?”
Eijiro looked at you with a fearful look almost as if he had been through a whirlwind. He opened his mouth to say something but paused. His eyes drifted down to your chest. He watched as surprise filled his face as his eyes were stuck on the way red contrasted your skin.
You chuckled somehow making him drag his eyes away from your chest. “You okay there Eij?”
He nodded his head dumbly. “Well, I am now.” He moved to walk over to you. He stood behind you putting his hands to your hips as he looked at you in the mirror. Something heated and dark in his eyes that you had seen before whenever you were both way too deep in exploring your bodies with your hands to think logically. It made your stomach in knots as he looked down at you. “Oh baby…” He let out lowly, moving a hand up your sides, gently feeling your chest gently before moving to your neck. “If I knew red was your colour, I wouldn’t have hesitated to walk in here. Look at you. Absolutely gorgeous.” He praised.
You couldn’t help but feel… dainty and pretty under his eyes. His large figure behind you showing the difference in size between the both of you. You felt heat move up your neck making you flustered, but you kept his gaze. “Thank you.” Your voice came out smaller than you thought it would.
Eijiro hummed as he looked you over. “Does it come in a set?” You nodded your head. Eijiro tilted his head, a smirk on his face. “Get yourself another one as well.”
“Something red?”
“Of course.” He chuckled lowly, placing a kiss to your head.
You smiled, turning to look up at him. “Thank you…” Your eyes shifted down to his lips first before moving up to his eyes again. “Sir.” You whispered.
You didn’t even get a second to breathe after before Eijiro was on you like white on rice. He had one hand holding the back of your head while the other held your waist, pulling you to be as close as possible. He groaned into the kiss, pulling you impossibly closer to him. Heat filled your abdomen as you could feel the bulge, he had against you. You wished you could feel him fully hard without the stupid pants in the way.
You separated from him with a gasp and a half-lidded stare. Before Eijiro could move to kiss you again,
“Ms Y/N…” Sachiko peaked into the dressing room. She caught eye of her father and glared. “Bad Daddy!” She immediately moved to push him out the room. She swat at his back and arm, painful slaps as she shoved him out the room. “Out! This is no place for you!”
“Ah!” Eijiro was shoved out the room by a mad Sachiko who glared up at him. “I was just helping.”
“No. You wait outside!” She spoke strictly, making it just the two of you. She shook her head in disappointment. “Boys.” That made you laugh.
However, you soon got confronted with some truth that Eijiro was hiding from you after a work event evening that had probably too much alcohol for Eijiro’s own good. The bright side of that is that you got to meet Akari, his oldest sister and man did she intimidate you. She was around the size of Eijiro, maybe a bit shorter but she looked damn right ready to crush you. However, she was a real flirt and super lovely to chat with. She loved making fun of Eijiro more than anything (much to Eijiro’s dismay).
A few pressured shots later and a long evening and you were dragging Eijiro back into his apartment.
“I’M HOME!”
“SH!!! Eijiro, Sachi is sleeping.” You whisper scolded him as you closed the door behind him. It was the first time you had ever seen him drunk or remotely tipsy, but to be fair, he did drink a lot. You figured he was a heavy weight. The large behemoth of a man stumbled around the entry way before being put up straight by you. You gave him a pointed look, but he gave you a hazy drunken smile. He moved to kiss you on your nose, which only brought a chuckle out of you. “Come on, let’s get you to bed.” You carefully moved him towards his bedroom.
The large black haired man kept rambling on about who knows what. “If I was a superhero… I’d want to call myself Red Riot!” He announced nonsensically. “That’s such a manly name? Don’t you think?”
You chuckled and nodded your head. “Yes, it is Eijiro, but you’ve got to keep quiet. Sh.” You reminded him with a finger to your lips.
He put one to his lips. “Shh!” He shushed you back, before giggling.
You rolled your eyes with a smile, opening the door and allowing you both into his room. You led him to bed, allowing him to fall back into the bedsheets. You closed the door slightly as you moved to his bathroom to grab him some painkillers for the morning. You put them on is bedside table before moving back towards him. He seemed rather fascinated with a pillow before you moved to unbutton his shirt.
At first he seemed confused before a shit eating grin went onto his face. He giggled. “Oh, finally, we get to get frisky.” He wiggled his eyebrows as he moved to put his arms around your neck, trying to pull you into a kiss, which you easily ducked.
“No Eijiro.” You scolded as you carefully tried to take his shirt off. “No frisky.” You said sternly earning a pout from him.
“But Y/N…” He whined with a pout. “I’ve been aching for you forever!” He said dramatically throwing his arms out. “I think about you all the time till my cock gets all full and achy. especially in the shower.”
You tried to ignore his drunken confessions, heat moving to your cheeks as you undid his belt, moving it to the nightstand. You moved to take off his shoes and socks too. “No, Eijiro. I’m not taking advantage of you like this, and besides, we can be intimate when you’re ready.” You reminded him.
He hummed as he gave you a sided smile, falling back into bed. “You’re so cool and manly, Y/N.” He said all sing song. “Katsuki was also cool and manly.” You paused at the name. You had never heard that name before. You furrowed your eyebrows as you paused. Eijiro looked sleepy as he put his head to the pillow. “But then Sachi happened… then nothing was cool.” He blinked slowly before turning to look up at you with a tired smile. “But you’re not like that. You love Sachi, like I love Sachi. You wouldn’t want to hurt Sachi like Katsuki wanted to hurt Sachi. You’re so cool and sweet, and beautiful and amazing…” You moved to put him under the blankets in his bed, tucking him in. “I love you~”
You paused at the statement. You turned back to him. You put a hand to his cheek and smiled. You placed a kiss down on his forehead. “I love you too, Eiji.”
“Can you stay?” He asked softly. “I no get nightmares when you here.” His broken speech was cute, but you chuckled. It was late anyways, and there weren’t any more trains or busses at this time probably. Not to your side of town.
You sighed and nodded your head. “Okay.”
“Okay.” You watched him close his eyes as he slipped into sleep fast.
Eijiro let a low groan as he held his head. He moved towards you with a scowl on his face as he sat down at the island table in the kitchen. You smiled at him, preparing breakfast. “I am never drinking ever again.” He boldly proclaimed making you giggle. You moved to slide over to him a cup of water that you had already poured for him and painkillers. He opened his eyes and looked over at the two items. He grumbled. “Thank you.”
You laughed it off. “No problem, Eiji.” You switched off the stoves as you moved to pack away the already washed dishes from the night before.
He took a painkiller as he down the water. He let out a sigh as he put back down the glass. “Where’s Sachi?” he asked, noticing a lack of his daughter around.
“In the shower.” You told him truthfully. With that now in mind, you thought it was the best time to ask him. “Hey Eij,” You asked as you packed away the dishes of last night. “Who’s… who’s Katsuki?”
Eijiro paused at the name. He turned to you with wide eyes, shocked at the question and shocked at the fact that you would be asking it. His heart was beating in his throat. “How… how do you-”
“You mentioned the name last night.” You told him. You watched his eyes squeeze shut as he dropped his head for a moment, letting out a deep sigh. You could tell this wasn’t what he wanted to talk about. “I… Do you-”
“Sachiko’s birth parent.” You heard come out of his mouth before you could finish. “That’s… that’s who he is.” Eijiro looked up at you, slumped. With Sachiko supposedly in the shower, he guessed that he could tell you. Eijiro ran a hand through his hair and sighed. “He… is trans and I knew him through high school and university. He was my best friend and admittedly, I loved him more than I should have. One drunken night together later and… well…”

AITA for breaking up with my boyfriend because of his older sister?
Title will not make sense without context. For simplicity, let's call my ex B (20) and his sister S (21 almost 22)
So I (20) used to date this guy B. We met through a college summer class and just immediately clicked. We bonded over shared favorite media and characters, career interests etc. A couple weeks later and we decide to start dating. It'd been going really well for about a year so far up until about a week or so ago.
B had mentioned his older sister a few times in passing, but never mentioned her name. He'd only refer to her as "my sister" and she wasn't really brought up often, either. I sometimes asked stuff about having a sibling since I'm an only child, but for the most part she wasn't really a big deal. One day he tells me that she's turning 21 soon and that I should come to his family's to celebrate (they decided to celebrate earlier than her actual birthday since everyone's way too busy for the next month to do anything (jobs plus summer classes you get it)). I say yes, get all pumped up to meet his family (he's hyped them up a lot. Though he didn't mention his older sister, he'd talk about his parents and grandparents a lot) and the day comes and I realize that.. his older sister is one of my exes.
The moment we noticed each other was the most awkward minute I've ever had to endure in my entire life. He introduced me as his partner to her, and we both nodded at each other in greeting (at the time I also took it as a silent agreement to not say anything about our past relationship)
The party goes well, despite the awkwardness. We were both good at pretending nothing was wrong (this will come back in a moment) so the night passed well and we head back to my apartment. The next day I tell him the truth: that his older sister is one of my exes, and that it was a nasty breakup. I'm talking throwing glass kind of breakup (moreso her throwing glass at me). We were both drunk when it happened and things escalated VERY quickly, and afterwards we both went completely no contact. He says he believes me, and we'll just not visit his parent's place when she's there, but unfortunately she literally lives there, so visits would be rare. This sucks for a couple of reasons. 1 He's a huge mommy's/daddy's boy and loves his parents/gparents to death, and 2 if we ever wanted to have any big moment in our lives like marriage, kids etc she'd have to be there, and I just generally wasn't comfortable with that. He says there's nothing he can really do about that and we both sorta get quiet for a bit before he excuses himself to go back to his place, telling me to think about it a bit more. I do, and the next day I call him to break up with him (low to breakup over the phone, I know) and i can hear him start to get a bit choked up before we hang up.
It's been about a week since then and although I'm confident I never want to see her in my life again, I miss my boyfriend and feel awful for putting him through this. But I know there's feasibly no way for us to be together while avoiding his sister for the rest of our lives. So AITA for breaking up with him? Is there something I could've done different?

sorry if this is kind of a dumb question, but what do you think is a good way to develop the actual plot of a story you have a loose idea of? i've basically had a bunch of characters, themes, concepts and pivotal moments held together with bubblegum and tape in my head for almost a year now, and i am really passionate about these characters and ideas, but have like a mental blockage when it comes to actually arranging them together and coming up with an actual narrative to put them in. it's weird bc i really wanna do something with them, but it's like my brain is scared of comitting to an idea that might not hold up to the maybe overly-grand expectations i've built up over this time for an actual story
I think that first of all, you need to come to terms that the finished product will most likely not be what you planned. And that's okay! You'll realize when you start to put pieces together that sometimes the themes you thought of and the scenes you're fond of, may not make it to the final story. Your readers will not know that unless you make your thought process public so don't beat yourself over the head. Your script and story changing is a natural part of the process, you just need to know when to stop picking on it and let it be.
I start by putting my ADHD daydreams onto paper. Everything I think of ends up in a folder, no matter how stupid or incomprehensible the idea might be. Put a pin in that, I'll come back to it later.
I'm sure you've seen this diagram or something similar before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Almost all stories have a conflict and climax, yes even those you think are boring and slow. I'll start by mapping out the conflict of the entire story first. What are my protagonists struggles? Who are they struggling against? Once I have that figured out, I'll think of the resolution. What happens in the end? Is it happy? Sad? Bittersweet? Will they succeed in overcoming this conflict? Partially? Not at all? Talking about overcoming the conflict, what happend at the height of the story? Is it a big action scene? An epiphany? An argument between characters? Once we have that settled, what can lead up to that climax? Now this is the fun part. Remember that folder with all the possible daydreams? Let's lay them out there and put a question mark on them. You can narrow them down as you start thinking about what makes sense in context of your climax and what doesn't. Finally, the beginning of your story (and the inciting incident). How does it start? What makes sense in this context? In the middle of the story? At the very beginning? What triggers the conflict? What will you be exploring? What will keep the audience on their toes?
Once I have that figured out, I'll start to individually brainstorming possible chapter scenarios. I'll plan out a plot structure for the chapters, etc etc. Rinse and repeat.
Tadaaaa ~ before you know it you have the first draft of a book! Now you can narrow it down even more, and pick on what does or doesn't fit! Enjoy!

i know some people take the moment of azula speaking up in the flashback to the war meeting in sozin's comet as azula trying to "protect zuko" after he starts (while carefully choosing his words) disagreeing with ozai, but i really can't see it that way.
even aside from the fact that i don't think we should ever argue that her advocating for genocide here was a good thing, based on everything else about their relationship, i can't see this moment as anything but her once again trying to establish dominance and superiority over zuko. it actually reminds me of a different scene, all the way back from the flashbacks in zuko alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in both situations, ozai is testing his children in a way, and when zuko can't or won't give the "right answer", azula interjects and is able to say exactly what he wants to hear.
in zuko alone, of course, ozai is asking them questions that seem to be related to whatever (heavily inundated with propaganda, clearly) schooling they get. something that i find really interesting is that zuko doesn't seem to only struggle with firebending, but with his schooling as well. which isn't exactly surprising: abused kids often have trouble in school, and that seems particularly likely when ozai is already treating zuko like he is weak, incompetent, and unworthy in other areas. it's a self-fulling prophecy, on ozai's part: he demeans zuko for not being good at firebending (and perhaps for not being good in school), and, because kids are very naturally going to clam up and not get better at something when they're treated as worthless for any perceived flaw, it affects his ability to build his skills or performance in school.
but i think there's also a way in which zuko probably struggles to keep up in school because he's receptive to the values ursa tries to instill in him from a young age. he probably doesn't realize the things they are learning are things that are morally wrong, but there's a way, at this point, in which he can't relate to them, can't understand the motives of why it would be considered a good thing to defeat an enemy in such a brutal way when it runs so counter to the values of kindness ursa is trying to instill in her children, be it by explaining that throwing bread at turtleducks is not nice or that we shouldn't wish death on other family members.
by contrast, the emphasis on azula here is that she's clearly fully bought into the propaganda, that she respects and admires the brutality of the tactics. (also, is it just me, or does she sound a little like she's reciting a textbook, albeit with a lot of glee?) and notably, at the end, when she gets the answer 'right', she side-eyes zuko with a smug smirk. just like she does in sozin's comet as she's told she's right.
just for comparison's sake:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the situation in the sozin's comet flashback is different, of course, because they're not being quizzed on their schoolwork so much as they are being asked to put what they've learned about war and tactics into practice. zuko has a lot more understanding now than he did as a much younger child of the realities of war because he's seen it up close. and because of that, not only can he not condone or suggest any of the brutal and egregious tactics that are clearly expected of him, but he actually says something in defense of the earth kingdom, albeit trying to choose his words carefully, and with ozai (quite possibly willfully?) misinterpretating them.
to suggest that azula is protecting zuko here is its own form of a willful misinterpretation. you have to ignore the entire context of their relationship, azula's established motivations, and the tone of the scene itself to come to that conclusion. she does not interrupt zuko to keep him from saying something that will get him hurt, but because she wants to prove once again that she's better, that she's right and he's wrong, that he’ll never catch up. but zuko is starting to realize that he doesn’t and shouldn’t want to.

I think the post delilah conversation was everything I wanted it to be. For now, at least.
It’s heartbreaking that Laudna seems almost suicidal right now, that she’s willing to give up everything, even herself, just to protect Imogen and the world. I’m glad she owned up to her mistakes and apologized, but she did remind everyone that they were all encouraging each other to seek out whatever power they can that might help in this fight. She’s just doing her part of that with Delilah.
Dorian finding out about Delilah, and about Imogen & Laudna was perfect, and also necessary context for the moment. His reactions to catching up on things will never fail to amuse me.
I’m so glad Imogen got a chance to talk to BH without Laudna and tell them what happened, express her own concerns. “I don’t know what Delilah’s plans are but I don’t think they involve Laudna having free will” was definitely good to mention because that’s something Laudna isn’t listening to or caring about right now, but the group should know
I’m glad that Orym owned up to hurting Laudna more than she hurt him, and confessed that he’s been focused, that he hasn’t been himself, but Laudna brought him back. He knows he was planning to use the sword for not the healthiest reasons, and they were able to talk things out.
And FEARNE talking to Laudna. Saying that they would kill Delilah again and again and again for her, but it’s her choice. Giving her that choice is I think what Laudna needed, because if they make that choice for her, I don’t think it would go well.
And Laudna confirming that she wants to use Delilah for the battle ahead, but makes a promise to communicate whenever Delilah is in her head so Bells Hells can keep her grounded, make sure she knows what’s real. Because that’s something they’ve never done before, Delilah’s always whispered at her in secret and only Imogen and Fearne have any idea what those whispers are like. And how Laudna holds to that promise and tells them when she asks for Delilah’s insight in Aeor. If they can keep her accountable she has a better chance at making it through this
It even sounds like she’s open to exploring how to get rid of Delilah after the war, but she also seems to already accept that she might not make it that far. I think the only way she might actually drop Delilah before then is if she manifests more fully and puts Imogen in danger
Regardless, this is like the healthiest most open communication we’ve ever seen from Bells Hells and I for one can’t wait to see where this arc leads

Okay, I know episode 7x09 was CRAZY packed and couldn’t possibly fit in a second more of anything, so I’m not saying I needed it addressed on screen. But like. Can we all stop to think for a moment that we might have actually witnessed the first moment Buck directly experienced homophobia (yes, Buck is Bi, homophobia is just the relevant term in this situation).
Gerard may have been looking at Tommy, and targeting Tommy directly, but… Buck was right there and not removed from the reality of that moment.
If you are a queer person standing right next to another queer person being targeted with hate for their identity, you are not wrapped in a magically shield of emotional protection because the comment wasn’t about you. You feel that.
And Buck’s not just a queer bystander. He’s Tommy’s boyfriend. Now does Gerard know that? I mean anyone can make their own headcanon about that. The point is, Tommy was targeted with homophobic remarks while standing with his boyfriend. Buck, regardless of Gerard’s context for him, had to have experienced that moment too. We obviously got a pretty great facial reaction of disgust and loathing, but I do wonder about his internal processing of that moment.
And that internal processing is so fascinating because it’s like. Evan “I’m an ally” Buckley was obviously fully AWARE of homophobia, but this is probably the first time he’s experienced it personally.
And like wow - because I’m torn. Because I absolutely don’t want us to have to go through a storyline of Buck grappling or dealing with homophobia or biphobia. Like let the boy live and let us as an audience just be allowed to witness queer joy. But also - this WOULD be a big and hard moment for him. Having all his loved ones accept him so instantly and fully, and then boom. A bigot walks up to you on your big day.
Like I said, I don’t need this played out on screen. But I also just don’t want us as an audience to overlook the significance.
I also think that added context can enrich the Bobby and Buck scene even further. Buck just experienced the anti-Bobby, the man who is in ever way not the Captain that Buck has always had. And when Buck meets with Bobby, HIS “Cap,” Buck gets to be met with instant affirmation and approval.
Just another thing to be included in the bracket for “for everything” when Buck says thank you to Bobby at the end of the scene.

My fetishes make me laugh ironically about how weird human brains are. I'll be in the middle of it even like auggghhh yeah and I'll sit back for a moment and think about what's getting me off. Something that would piss me off in any other context probably. The wires are all bunched up so closely together up there that they get crossed, and voila, something that's typically upsetting makes me horny. It's hilarious, actually.

I've woken up on this day with a few quick thoughts on this scene from DMC5
Tumblr media
Some things ppl (maybe myself in the past) have noticed and stated probably before but I'll throw my thoughts in anyway.
So, after Dante and Vergil knock back Nero, to keep him from following after him and establishing him as the protector of the human world while they go on to the demon world to cut down the Qliphoth tree. You can see Vergil's gaze linger on Nero for a good moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I mean for a hot minute, too. He's gazing at the one he just found out is his own son. After witnessing the kind of strength his son displayed. He's thinking, and you can tell.
What about, you may ask?
Tumblr media
About giving Nero his poetry book, of course. A personal belonging of his that he's personally cherished. And you know...this is actually the most affectionate Vergil has been towards Nero, in his own why. Let me elaborate real quick on why that is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Visions of V, its established that Vergil sees his poetry book as his 'heart'. Its tied to all the trauma he's suffered at first, but lamenting with his younger self, he realizes that he no longer needs to run from it and instead face it. His Heart will protect him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He goes on to say to himself that he doesn't have to toss away what he has left. It goes on, in this moment, to show how Vergil eventually believes deep down that he and Dante can be twins again. It twists the deep sibling rivalry on a more positive spin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I say positive, because all this time Vergil's been very keen on proving his strength into defeating his little brother who he's lost twice to by this point. As himself (3) and as Nelo (1). Its why he splits himself to gain more power and laments over the whole thing as V.
Tumblr media
Its why Urizen is so quick to bring up how he's stronger than Dante and no longer has to 'see him as a threat'. He doesn't even have to spare the effort.
Getting back on track, though. Its funny how its stated V's poetry book is his heart, because of how much its tied to not just him, but Urizen. He named Urizen after one of Blake's works after all, the 'Book of Urizen'. Both halves of him are tied to that one book. His heart.
Tumblr media
So Vergil spending a moment to ponder and consider giving Nero that same book? Him having a taunt that involves asking himself if he should entrust it to him? And he does? He's giving Nero not just something personally cherished, but essentially a piece of himself as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the nice bow on top is that Nero picks up the book, very likely recognizes that its the one V was carrying around all the time and realizes just how important it is. Thus, he's actually reading it by the end of the game to maybe understand personally how it was cherished.
Vergil took a minute to decide on giving his son his 'heart', followed through with it, and now Nero is holding onto and 'protecting it' until the day they can one day meet again. Its basically Vergil's own way of displaying a sort of affection towards Nero, the way I see it.
Its the little things I like about these games, ya know...just the things you can potentially pick up when you think about it. Its a shame alot of added context is in a media that you can only read through fan translation (thankfully) and not accessible traditionally, but its a good thing the community has come around to getting a hold of and translating such things for others to read.

This episode.
First I need to talk about Henren and how I am absolutely heartbroken over them having endure more loss in their family. Like they are the best damn parents, stop taking their children away. And having all of those cases twisted on Hen like that as ammunition and evidence to take Mara away from her. Diabolical. Just a gut punch, I cried so hard.
There is so much about Bobby that I don’t even think I can get into it all. But I was so worried about him, I AM so worried about him. The beginning of the episode feeling like a goodbye, to him having to save Athena, and then having a heart attack. The emotional whiplash of it all. I’m so afraid to learn anything more about how that fire got started. The guilt this man has carried, and continued to carry without leaning on his wife for support. Still bottling it all up until it was too late. Just heart wrenching, and I feel for Athena, it is so hard to watch your significant other struggle like that and not know what to do but to just love them and hope it’s enough.
Buck, getting the chance to cook for the team from Bobby. He was so happy about it, so proud. And his moment with Bobby after shift was so sweet, they have come so far. He is going to be so gutted if anything happens to Bobby. That’s his dad.
And then Buck running into Kim like that, oh my god. And immediately going to Eddie’s to figure out what the hell he just saw and figure out what was going on (despite whatever his plans were for the evening). That kitchen scene was so great, they are so vulnerable with each other, so patient and understanding. Buck using the back door to be considerate of anyone else in the house because he knows how crazy and fucked up it all is. But he’s so calm and gentle with Eddie about the whole thing.
Which leads me to Eddie. My guy, you have come so far, but you are still so delusional. Shannon was not the love of your life, she was your first love. And there is a difference. Kim is insane for coming back to pretend to be Shannon to try to give you closure without all of the context, because Eddie you omitted a few key details in your retelling of your relationship’s history. And to get so wrapped up in this fantasy to allow yourself this weird moment of skewed catharsis and have Christopher walk in (with your girlfriend, which where were they without you?) and witness this woman in your life who confusingly looks like his DEAD mother. How painful for him. That kid has been through enough, and I can’t fathom how he will view you going forward and I am so scared for that. It’s so twisted. How do you explain any of this to your son? How?
I can’t stop thinking about it. 7x09, I wish you were longer.

It's weird how often Catelyn's virginity comes up in the books (LF telling the entire court for years that he took her maidenhead to the point where the Lannister brothers use it to downplay her vritue and honor .... disgusting man). I wonder how that is going to come into play with Sansa, since she now knows that Baelish believed he slept with Cat but actually took Lysa's virginity. Also crazy that one man's word has this much reach :(
What I find interesting is how irrelevant it ultimately is. No one is running a big smear campaign maligning the morals of the Tullys and the North or laughing at Ned. The biggest leverage that Littlefinger gets out of it is underscoring the level of trust and influence he may have over them. Catelyn is aghast at the moment Tyrion brings it up but doesn't spare it much thought beyond that.
So GRRM is introducing this idea not for itself but for the overall concept.
Sansa isn't shocked when she hears this or reflects on it later, either.
You said it was my mother you loved. But of course Lady Catelyn was dead, so even if she had loved Petyr secretly and given him her maidenhood, it made no matter now. (ASOS, Sansa VI)
Really, it reveals something about the flexibility of social mores in the right context. If pregnancy isn't an issue, a lady's virtue is mostly a matter of individual opinion. If everyone agrees it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter. If someone takes issue with it, it gains importance. The same subject comes up for Sansa with Mya Stone, for whom this lost virtue is more of an issue because of her bastard status and how public she was about her attachment to Mychel Redfort.
Brune would be a good match for a bastard girl like Mya Stone, she thought. It might be different if her father had acknowledged her, but he never did. And Maddy says that she's no maid either. [...] Mychel Redfort was the one. [...] Mychel was the best young swordsman in the Vale, and gallant . . . or so poor Mya thought, till he wed one of Bronze Yohn's daughters. Lord Horton gave him no choice in the matter, I am sure, but it was still a cruel thing to do to Mya."
This is, incidentally, the exact same scenario that Cat knew would come to pass back in AGOT, also not judging Mya. Cat never judged Lysa for her mystery affair, either. And, fittingly, neither girl withholds sympathy for Mya in this. Nor does Sansa judge Myranda for her affair with Marillion. Love and pleasure both are justification enough.
(Meanwhile, she doesn't make the argument to Littlefinger's molestation that it's immoral in terms of sexual conduct, but that he's a) married, and b) could have been her father, and c) pleading to be left alone.)
I think this is less important in and of itself than in what it implies about Sansa's view of sexual virtue, which is a great deal more liberal than some might expect in a world where physical virginity is officially prized and the mere act of copulation has the legal power to determine the validity of a marriage.
This is the same book where Margaery is subjected to a physical examination of her maidenly status - which everyone understands to be ridiculously devoid of sense, as a "maidenhead" is vulnerable to all kinds of physical activities, such as horseriding. But it becomes evidence in a case of high treason (adultery) where physical virtue is tied to matters of state.
The tension between official and legal expectations of virtue and tacit acceptance of indulgence - duty and love/desire - is likely to continue to play a role in Sansa's arc, and both in the sense of temptation and indulgence, and in the sense of hypocritical legal technicalities rearing their head.

loved reading ur tom king tea so how abt ☕️ tom taylor
I think this post I reblogged a little while back said it really well, especially "He writes comics to go viral on Twitter."
My main problem with Taylor is that his writing is fluff with absolutely zero substance, and I feel like this has two major consequences. First, there's this weird disconnect between stakes, competence, and victory. All of his heroes are wildly incompetent, so he sets up these huge stakes and then has them resolved by other people, or dumb luck, or just...pretending the stakes don't exist? So now not only are the heroes incompetent, the story is unsatisfying because the victory doesn't feel earned - because his goal is a cutesy viral moment that gets passed around the internet out of context, not satisfying storytelling.
For a small example of this, there's that scene where Clark needs Bruce and Dick to help him find Jon, who is learning how to fly. I repeat: Clark, who has super speed, flight, X-ray and telescopic vision, AND CAN HEAR HIS LOVED ONES' HEARTBEATS, needs two regular fucking guys to somehow detective out the location of his own child. Clark is nerfed just to get a cute moment of Dick giving Jon a lollipop - and Taylor absolutely got what he wanted out of that, because those pages did go viral, no matter how little sense they made.
For a bigger example, there's the climax of the Blockbuster storyline in Nightwing, where Blockbuster discovers Dick's identity and Dick realizes that his entire life is about to be destroyed...and then someone else kills Blockbuster and solves Dick's problem for him, and he literally never thinks about it again. This is our hero triumphant? This is NOTHING! I literally stared at that comic with my mouth open. For real? For real for real???
You see this over and over again. In the most recent issue of Titans, it's revealed that Dick basically hypnotized himself into having a secret part of his brain he can only access via a code word because somehow that prevents Raven (a telepath) from reading his mind (why? UNCLEAR). He is explicitly inspired by what Bruce did with his Zur-en-Arrh personality. You know, the one who has been the main villain in Batman for over a year? Who has taken over Gotham and driven Bruce into hiding? Who will be a key factor in the upcoming Absolute Power event? That guy?
But it's okay that Dick did the exact same wildly unsafe thing, because Dick says in the comic "this will be fine" so it'll be fine. Why? He said so! It'll be fine!
Obviously most of the time superheroes do defeat the bad guy and it is fine (and even when it isn't, they come back to life), but in order for a story to have impact, we have to believe in the stakes. The hero needs to make an effort. There need to be consequences. Taylor's writing is devoid of all of that. When he gets to issue #6 of a given storyline, everything is just magically resolved. It makes his characters feel shallow and incompetent, and his stories feel meaningless.
More importantly, his politics are as shallow as his plotting. He injects liberal themes into his writing, but things are just magically resolved, and no one ever has to make a hard choice. Jon Kent occasionally scolds a mean person and then flies off to hold hands with his cardboard cutout of a boyfriend, and Taylor pats himself on the back for being History's Greatest Ally.
Meanwhile, he does absolutely nothing to support real people with marginalized identities. When Chuck Dixon when on a twitter spree sharing a homophobic photoshopped panel of Dick and Jon, Taylor was like "Oh that's actually photoshopped, but I love your work!" and then spent several tweets kissing Dixon's ass. Sucking up to a homophobe was more important to him than actually standing up for queer people, or even just...not saying anything. (Not saying anything is free!)
Now don't get me wrong, Taylor's mentions are deranged and people need to leave him alone about Babs not being in a wheelchair because it's obviously not up to him. But the way he acts like he is the world's greatest martyr to The Cause because of his milquetoast comics when over and over again he fails to support real, living people drives me nuts. (There are other examples, but I don't have the strength to unpack the Ed Piskor stuff right now.)
In conclusion: his writing is shallow, his politics are shallow, and I'm tired.

ok so this is a question that i wish was discussed more in other spicy spaces without getting either too careful or too obviously an expression of people's unrealistic fantasies. what do you think attracts will to mike, both in terms of emotional and physical attraction?
there's lots of discussion about mike's attraction to will because that's thought to be what we need more of in the show, and people are happy to talk about will's physical attributes like his ass. but when will's attraction to mike is discussed, its always in the context of emotion and love and friendship becoming romantic, but never physical. there's not much in the way of will's fantasies or him being allowed to have a purely physical aspect to his love for mike, which is so sad to me because it reflects the thematic castration of will in the show (@therainscene did a great post on this about the lack of posters and sexuality in will's room etc).
i personally think the dnd alter egos give lots of hints about why will is emotionally attracted to mike, but at the same time, physicality and presence is a huge part of medieval/roleplay, so Will MUST have thought about mike's physicality in his fantasies, surely?
i wonder if there's not a lot of spec on this because people find there to be a dissonance between finn/mike's body and what they think mike's character represents in the show to a negative degree? whereas for will, even though his muscle development isnt **exactly** in line with will's character, society considers muscles to be a good thing so the change doesnt upset anyone. (not to say muscular men can't be sensitive, but the duffers probably would have chosen him to remain more delicate if they had a choice)
i personally think that mike's awkwardness due to finn's physicality has always been present and a big part of what makes the show so endearing, esp in s1. its only because there's an expectation for blockbuster scale epic fight scenes now, big music, big action, that people start to think mike needs to be this Baddie. I like the idea of him having a moment, but i dont need him to be wielding a sword like a badass and Looking Cool 24/7. Mike isnt traditionally cool, i need him to stay that a nerd lol.
maybe this is also why i think there would be something so powerful about a byler sex scene, because the more awkward/realistic/nerdier the better? it doesnt need to be traditionally sexy, but it WOULD be sexy just because of the fact that it would be mike and will and them getting together is intrinsically sexy.
i hope this makes sense lol sorry for the essay
EXCELLENT TOPIC! So many good points. You're absolutely correct about all of this - there is a definite line it seems, with more focus given to how Mike views Will, versus what made Will develop feelings and attraction to Mike, beyond the "we're best friends and I want you in my life forever"-ness of it all. I love talking about what Mike loves about Will, but let's hype up the other side of this coin.
This may sound so odd, but I genuinely think sometimes it's forgotten in general spaces that Will is gay? And what that actually means. Like he's a gay guy. Who is attracted to men and ultimately wants to be intimate with men (even if in present time, this want is being internally and externally denied). And Mike is a man (big juicy can of worms re: the gnc debate, save that for another essay, but I think my stance is visible between the lines here) and Will wants him. We all saw how Will looked at Mike in the desert. Dirty, white t-shirt probably transparent in spots from sweat, heaving breath as he did all the work shoveling for his boy bestie. Will doesn't have to lift a finger. Will gets to pretend to move several grains of sand around. Will looks at Mike with lust in his eyes. That is the boy he's grown up with and had been crushing on as a kid, that's the guy he's fallen in love with. And Mike has grown up. Still awkward, but developing into someone that Will not only wants to spend forever with, but wants intimately.
I like to imagine them as kids, maybe around the age they are introduced to us as in s1. What are they, 12? It's been awhile, but I remember being 12. I remember my first crushes, and they happened even earlier. Will has several male friends - each with their own appealing attributes. I think any of the party could be cute to a young, sexually confused nerd. But Will crushes on Mike. His first friend, the face he can imagine perfectly when he closes his eyes, able to draw him from memory because our boy is an artist. Little Will, drawing in sketchbooks from the early years. Why is it so important that he gets the shape of Mike's lips just right? Why are his eyes the best eyes he's ever drawn? Why does he spend so long perfecting a technique to capture the dark swoops of his best friend's hair? He's caught himself staring too long at Mike's mouth on occasion. He's caught himself suppressing a shudder when Mike's arm is so casually thrown around him, holding him close. He smells like a boy. He likes that a lot more than whatever girls douse themselves with. Uh oh.
Mike is not conventionally attractive. Neither is FW, either. Not to say he's bad looking (I find him very very attractive), but honestly - he's different. He's not like the cookie cutter Ken, the action figure, the Hollywood poster boy. He's got unique features and is awkward in his own skin. I don't think girls (and closeted guys) at Mike's school are falling at his feet. "I'm not exactly Mr. Popular." But they still look. As opposed to Jason, the All-American Juxtaposition. Jason - classically and cliche-handsome, the prototype boyfriend for the prototype cheerleader. If Will was at Hawkins High that year, I'm sure he'd give Jason a passing glance. He's an attractive man. Will's heart can belong to one and his eyes can appreciate attractive people in his vicinity. But Mike. Mike. Slightly taller, his protective personality bleeding into his physicality. I can see Will being into the protectiveness as a physical manifestation. Mike can maneuver him, can probably hug him tight and lift him up. He's not some action hero, or a muscled heartthrob but he's not as pathetic as fanon so pretends. I don't think he's gonna be an over powered badass by any means, but he can wield a sword and try and even if he's not that great at it. He's not hesitant. And clearly Will knows this. He painted it. He's into it. Mike, able to lead them into battle. Mike, awkward but endearing and strong. Mike with his big hands and lean muscles and that mouth that Will's eyes are drawn to like magnets and he hopes he's not as guiltily obvious as he feels when he watches his best friend orbit around him.
He may hide his attraction to men, with no posters of them on his walls. Diverting his eyes when he notices an attractive man in public. But he has music and cinema. Albums and magazines and movies. Mike looks more like the men in his favorite bands than the men playing professional sports. Bowie is so much cooler. He's odd, he's different. He's hot. Will likes the unconventional and he likes the familiar things that make him feel good and safe. Mike makes him feel safe. Oh, how he wants Mike to make him feel good.
Will had a crush on his best friend, when he first started being plagued with the realization that boys were cute. Will fell in love and when he re-met his best friend in the airport - his friend has grown up hot. He's pissed off and heartbroken that they haven't reached out to each other more, but he can't keep his eyes off Mike. He's dreamed about him and sketched him from memory so many times before Spring Break - but in the flesh? Everything and more. Will wants him.

i tried to make this post and then i got cockblocked and tumblr crashed, so i took a minute to cool off and now i'm back to try again lmfao
what's fun for me about my current MOTA fic is that it's canon-insert (which i don't really do? never really have??)
part 2 of if that isn't love has a little time jump, because the scenes are meant to slot into canon and just provide extra context for things which happen in the show (eg. Gale telling Bucky to go to London alone), so it'll start when they reunite at staglag luft which means we're starting with a Gale and John who have not only been separated, but who hooked up in a moment of actual honesty, and then Gale pretty unceremoniously was again like "None of that, pal."
which means we now have a Gale who maybe has been thinking he'll never see John again, and is remembering that the last thing he did was tell John he didn't want him. and we have a Bucky who thought Gale was dead, but he can't envisage a world without Gale in it, but also Gale as much as said he didn't want Bucky's love in that way (as Bucky sees it). so when they reunite, Gale doesn't know what he's feeling, and Bucky doesn't know how to act and has a face full of bruises.
and it's all setting up for the things which break between them during the time at the camp, and most importantly, for a postwar exploration in part 3 which really digs into the cognitive dissonance of Gale's brand of internalised homophobia, but also the crushing pressure and control of the heteropatriarchy and heteronormativity. Gale can't kill those voices inside him, because he's been putting words in Marge's mouth to justify what he's doing. It's time for her to Speak™
anywayyyyy i want to talk about this all do much lmao have a preview for part 2. two men who Don't Know What They're Doing
---
“Still seein’ clear?” He meets John’s eyes for the question, and two equal pupils look back at him, whites white and blues all blue.
“Clear as day, Buck.”
“They get you anywhere else?” Seems unlikely that krauts would hit this hard and only hit John’s face, but there’s no tell in the way John is holding himself as he sits, loose and casual, knees parted to give Gale room to stand close enough to look over his injuries. Gale pats at him a little, neck and shoulders, top of his chest, but there’s still no wincing. He moves away to drop the soiled rag on the table. When he turns around to John again, folding his arms as he leans against it, he finds that John’s smile has made a return.
“I’m fightin’ fit, Nurse Cleven. How could I not be, with personal care from the prettiest first-aider I ever saw?”
Gale ignores him. “They get your ribs? You breathin’ alright?”
“Still a windbag, I promise. My singin’ days aren’t over yet.” He’s talking through that smile, quiet and clear and rounded with warm, none of the tired he should be feeling after god-knows-what on the way here. “Let me look at you a second, huh.”
“What about your feet?” Gale presses on, asking past the burn rising in his own chest, past the strange tremble he feels wobbling his insides. “You were limpin’—Your ankle? A sprain, anything serious?”
“Never mind it, Buck; just walking too long is all—Come here, won’t you? Just let me look at you a second.”

not sure i've seen anyone mention it yet but also i havent looked - but the bit at the beginning of episode 5 where edwin's reading up on astrological compatibilities just before brad & hunter show up - is there a prevailing theory about a specific taurus and aires he might be referring to?
he did just leave charles and crystal together to settle their relationship status (not that he's aware that's what they're discussing at the time), so i'm kind of inclined to assume it was them, but as far as I can recall he & niko are the only people whose signs we're told outright (and frankly, just removing his from the equation does rule out about half the potential ships in the show)
but if crystal is one of the parties involved, that just raises more questions
Like does that mean she remembers when her birthday is? I wouldn't have thought so, since even with only a partial name, a specific DOB might make her significantly easier to look up, particularly if her parents are kind of famous (i've been assuming all along that her name being a noun effectively made her google-proof). Or is it more likely monty just declared her something & they all accepted that as fact because he was noticeably right about everyone else so far? But if that's the case, how much has he been talking to/getting to know the rest of them, because she would press him on that, right? like it's one thing to make quips about people who are capable of confirming their own birthdays being typical of their signs - but since crystal's actively on the lookout for chances to learn more about herself, you'd think someone being confident he can just tell certain things about her like that would be of particular interest to her. And alternatively if monty hasn't spent too much time with her & is still responsible for assigning her a horoscope anyway, does that mean he's been like. displaying a certain amount of supernatural knowledge all along without anyone getting suspicious of him? and where does astrology fall on that scale anyway, in their world? edwin's skepticism at first would imply it's not considered a normal science to them, even in the context of ghosts and spells and witches - unless that's just meant to read as him being especially hypocritical?
Do any of these things have clearly implied answers to people who do know about astrology? Or have I missed canonical birth dates given for anybody anywhere? I feel like they'd shed some light on an unusually large number of questions for me at the moment

In Defense of Chloe Bourgeois Part 1: Who is Chloe?
Well...shit, here we go again! Hello there everyone, welcome back to the source of my endless exasperation! Before any of you pick a side to the argument, I want to make it perfectly clear that this isn't a post about whether or not Chloe should have had a redemption arc. This is not my point, and any argument for either side have been repeated so many times by now that I can recite most by memory. So, let's begin by establishing why exactly I'm even writing this post!
Chloe Bourgeois is one of my favorite characters in Miraculous Ladybug. The...the fanon version, obviously. Canon can go keel over in an alleyway, it already has more holes in it than the average swiss cheese. I've been a part of this fandom for a good few years now, and at the time of watching Miracle Queen was understandably upset at the...direction, that her character was taken. It left a sour taste in my mouth because I honestly didn't see it coming, but I'll get more into that later. Point is, I was once a defender of Chloe's redemption arc. I am not stating if I am or not still one of those at present, because that's not what the point is. Regardless of what side of the fence you're on, we can all agree that her character was horribly mismanaged in the latter half of this show. Erratic, extreme and oftentimes illogical choices that sound stupider than Lila's average gaslighting scheme, and a character who previously had an arc going for her now being defined only by the sheer inconsistency that writhes every moment she's on-screen. I'll be honest, I no longer particularly care if Chloe "should" have been redeemed or not, because either avenue could have allowed for some brilliant (or at the very least pretty decent) storytelling.
This defense strives not to strip anyone of their arguments, nor to challenge anyone's headcanons, or make a point about what the "correct" way to handle Chloe's character should have been. Again, I lost interest in the debate a long time ago. I'm simply here to examine who Chloe is as a person, what drives her, what her life experiences have been like, and where all this could logically lead from both a writing and human perspective. I care about Chloe as a person, and about a character who if nothing else, at least acts consistently, in a way where the audience can watch them and understand why they're acting like this. I'll be trying to give context to some of her actions and fill in as many plot holes as I can, as well as giving a glimpse as to how a possible Redemption or Corruption Arc could have gone. So without any further ado, let's dive right in!
Firstly, let's start by laying out some common ground. After the Gabriel Agreste post, I think it's necessary to establish some clear lines as to what exactly we're talking about here. So before anything else, let's look at what we learn about Chloe in Season 1, yeah? Without going episode-by-episode, we generally don't get a good impression of her. Chloe is clearly spoiled by her father, used to always getting her way, and has no problem pressuring others into making that happen. She treats her classmates more like annoyances if not outright minions (Sabrina and on occasion Kim), has little consideration for other people's feelings, and likes appearing superior to everyone else. A pretty bad start, all things considered. She bosses Sabrina around, and we're explicitly told that Chloe often bribes her with her second-hand stuff, or whatever she wants to get rid of. Sabrina clearly doesn't know how to stand up for herself, and Chloe seems perfectly willing to take advantage of her doormat status. She also has the roots for a sweet sweet superiority complex firmly planted, considering how she rejects and humiliates Kim when he tries to confess his love to her. I'll be damned if I ever understand such bad taste, considering how Chloe is generally disliked by the rest of the class, but the point stands. She could have just told him no, even rudely if need be, and left it at that. Instead, she actively chose to humiliate the poor guy. Something similar happened with Nathaniel, whose feelings about Marinette she made public to everyone else for what seems to be entertainment value.
All in all, Season 1 Chloe has all the stereotypical makings of a popular girl from a 2010s American high school movie, including the narcissism, bullying, strong-arming school staff into not punishing these behaviors, inflated ego, and the complimentary minion! Except...Chloe isn't popular. With anyone, actually. Most of the class dislikes and barely puts up with her on a good day. They don't laugh along or jeer at whomever she's giving trouble to. Instead we have several instances where people actively try to either push the teachers into doing something or remove her from a situation where Chloe is causing problems. Think about the filming scenes in Horrificator for example. Chloe is acting like her usual self again, and refuses to allow Marinette to be the lead actress because she'll get to kiss Adrien. A tragedy, I know! Therefore, there's a whole plot to get her out of the room long enough for the scene to happen. People actively consider her at the very least a pain in the rear, and probably someone they just don't even want to talk to.
Obviously this isn't an excuse for anything she does. My point here is that from the perspective of the narrative, even while acting the part of a "Queen B", Chloe reaps none of the benefits, and in fact only serves to make people dislike her more with every episode that passes by. Even Adrien, who I'll circle back to in a second, her childhood friend who has a good opinion of her when he first comes to school, eventually stops trying to defend Chloe's behavior. There are, I think, a lot of reasons as to why she acts this way. Precisely none of them are an excuse or a "get out of jail" free card. Chloe still chooses to behave the way she does, regardless of the motivations.
About Adrien, we know that he and Chloe have known each other for a long while now. She was quite possibly his singular friend during his otherwise relatively isolating childhood, and she's very clearly attached to him. Chloe constantly clings to Adrien and drapes herself over him, and while he seems to find it annoying, there's still never a sense of disgust like with Lila in later Seasons. She's being suffocating, but there is never a connotation of romance here. Still, Chloe does everything she can to keep Adrien close to her, and (in Origins) "teach him how things are" in school. She's the one who got him signed up as a student in the first place, mind you, so she very clearly wants him to be around her. And while Chloe does brag about him being a famous model, she could just...do that without ever actually bringing Adrien out of the house? Clearly that's not the reason why she went through all the trouble to actually get him in the class, because bragging about it would probably go worse if she did it in front of him, or in an environment where Adrien could easily hear about and react to it. Chloe is very possessive of her "best friend" (and only friend, discounting Sabrina), and constantly belittles Marinette for trying to get close to him. Mind you, she doesn't find out about her feelings for Adrien until Season 3 I think. We never see Nino get bullied for befriending him, so what gives?
I'll talk about reasoning later down the line. For now, let's move onto Season 2. Amidst the beginnings of Ladybug handing out Miraculous jewels like candy to her best pals, seriously Season 4 overdid it, Chloe also exists. And during Despair Bear, Adrien finally puts his foot down about her behavior. He tells her that he can't be friends with someone who acts like a bully, and Chloe is genuinely hurt by this, to the point where she does her best to put on a good show and convince Adrien that is capable of not being an ass. Which is actually the case, believe it or not. She holds back the snides, does her best to make casual conversation with the people she considers to be inferior to her (I'll get to that, don't worry), and makes a real effort to keep at it for the sake of their friendship. The reason why she blows up here is made very obvious by the episode itself. Chloe is in unfamiliar territory and clearly reining herself in a lot, which Despair Bear pokes fun of in several back-to-back scenes. She doesn't want to do this, clearly has mutual dislike for the people she's forced to put up with every day and has made up her mind about a long time ago, for the sake of the one person she considers a genuine friend. And mind you, Chloe never uses Adrien for something. She brags about his job in Origins, and preens about their friendship often, but she never takes advantage of him like she does Sabrina. I will get to their toxic friendship in a minute, don't worry, but Chloe chooses not to try doing this with him. Adrien is...oblivious, to put it nicely, and she could easily try and play around that to serve her own goals, but she doesn't. Keep this in mind.
Anyway, she blows up because Armand (also c'mon, if you wanted to make the joke that Chloe doesn't know her butler's name, Jean "insert today's last name" was more than enough, Thomas) keeps lugging her teddy bear and playing pretend with her in a room full of people. I'm sorry, but that may be the most relatable Chloe moment in the whole show. Are you kidding me??? Of course she'd be embarrassed by this! I mean sure, her reaction to the situation is wrong, she shouldn't have screamed at him or threatened the man's job, but Chloe has serious anger management issues. That is obvious, because she acts like this every single day! Why would Armand do this??? She's already way out of her comfort zone by even hosting the party in the first place, surely there's easier ways of reminding Chloe not to be a bitch? Just tap her on the shoulder and say "miss, remember Adrien?" because that's the whole reason this is happening! The teddy bear is completely unecessary! Especially the voice acting! It made me laugh so hard when I first watched that episode but can you blame Chloe for being pissed? Again, she reacted poorly because her self control is comparable to Plagg's when there's camambert in his field of vision! So yeah, it's wrong to scream people's ears off like that, but she was also upset. And she's fourteen mind you!
Anyway, my actual point about Season 2 is that we get to see Chloe's character development. Thank Nooroo, finally a proper arc in this damn show! And we also get to see her family life. Side note, Andre Bourgeois is a spineless coward who I'll be bashing momentarily. But Chloe's mother is horrible! Audrey Bourgeois is blatantly neglectful, if not abusive to her daughter! She treats Chloe the same way Chloe treats everyone else! As disposable, expendable things that don't "deserve" her attention because they're not good enough. Like, if this doesn't give a six year old some hefty trauma along with an inferiority complex, what will??? And the situation becomes even worse as Chloe becomes incresingly desperate during Style Queen, trying again and again to please Audrey by copying her behavior (which she's been doing this whole time) even more intensly, and acting like the entitled, self-absorbed narcissist that her mother is! And this is where we see exactly why Chloe does what she does! Again, none of this excuses her actions, but it does help us understand the behavior. Audrey constantly puts Chloe down and belittles her the same way she does to Marinette...only to later pick the kid that Chloe is jealous of (I will explain this in a second!) to come with her to New York, where Audrey had presumably yeeted herself off to years ago and never bothered to come visit! We already know that she pressured her husband into giving up his love for film to stay with her, maybe even during her pregnancy or after Chloe's birth. Only to promptly vanish and leave him (a person who never grew a spine or managed to stand up to what is undoubtebly a toxic relationship) with her miniature copy. It's obvious that Chloe's barely ever seen Audrey, but she idolizes the woman because that's her mother! Heck, Adrien idolizes Emilie even if she was arguably not a great person (see here) and Chloe is always kicked to the curb for just doing the same!
Audrey is a horrible person and an even worse role model, but when you're five years old and she disappears from your life, is it any wonder that there's a steaming hot pile of mommy issues here? If Chloe has been told by Audrey from the moment she was old enough to understand words that she isn't "exceptional" enough to "deserve" her time, then isn't it obvious why Andre tries and fails to make up for this by always coddling his daughter and giving in to her every whim? He's trying to please her and give Chloe a sense of self-importance that Audrey made near-impossible to develop, and also makes up for his own absence by basically bribing his own child! Not that Andre is innocent in this! If anything, he's even more at fault than Audrey! Because while she flew off into the sunset to fire her twenty-seventh unpaid intern of the week, he was still in Paris with Chloe! Who grew up with him, mind you! And sure, he got elected into office and had a busy job as a single parent! You know what else he did? Crime! Almost everything he does in this damn show is completely illegal! Bribery, blackmail, undue termination of Roger's position as a police officer, who Andre doesn't even have juristiction over mind you (because Paris had the National Police until like 2021-ish if I recall correctly), he's just a corrupt, scummy politian whose ideas (see Megaleech) are harmful to the people he's supposed to be serving and outright motivated by greed! And also, we are explicitly told that he taught Chloe to do these same things! Andre Bourgeois is a total idiot who's probably been committing tax evasion for all we know, and Audrey is a self-absorbed diva who bullies her own child constantly, when she even bothers to go see her! Which is never, unless she needs to be in Paris for some other event related to her job!
Thomas, what the heck do you mean Chloe is evil? Lila is an accomplice to a domestic terrorist, and a psychopath against whom the only protection is the show's PG rating! If Lila could, she'd burn Marinette's house down for shits and giggles my good man! Audrey is everything I just mentioned, Andrey is a corrupt, spineless politician, Tomoe physically abuses her daughter with fucking katanas on the daily, Gabriel Agreste is that domestic terrorist who almost fired every nuclear warhear in the USA by the way! Because that was stupid of the NYC special to do! But he still did it! Plus the genocide in Shanghai! Accident or not, Hawkmoth is still responsible! And later on he also put his son in a room! A rubber room! Thankfully there weren't any rats, as if he needs another OSHA violation! Are you people insane when you say "I don't know why Chloe acts like this"? Have you lost your marbles??? Do you want me to have an aneurysm? Of course a child is going to act the way Chloe does if this is the shit she's been dealing with since Day 0 of her life! Does that make it okay? Absolutely not! But does it mean that she deserved what happened to her canonically? Also no! I'll talk about how the corruption arc could have worked at the end, because they tried and failed to do that, so let's circle back to the "jealous of Marinette" thing from a minute ago, kay?
Note: We're doing this in part 2 because this is closing in on 3k words already. The whole rant is done, no you don't want to know how long it is, I'm just splitting it because nobody will ever read 7.5k words worth of anything on Tumblr dot com.

Test subject x The ghoul pt. 2
Tumblr media
pt. 1
Pairing: cooper howard x fem! cat mutant & sniper reader
hi friends once again I am dyslexic so this is probably not the best but I hope you all enjoy it anyways (I’m always open to feed back as long as your nice about it)
Warnings: slow burn, writer is dyslexic, might be slightly out of character, a whole lot of guns, use of y/n, blood mention, sad dog (not a dead dog a sad dog)
context: you are part cat due to being experimented on you have the cat ears and eyes along with all there senses (i do plan on making a full backstory)
You guys have been walking for awhile few words exchanged. your walking a head of him with the dog by your side, you’ve been following the sent of the vault dweller as the dog follows the doctors. “what her name” you ask the ghoul. “she ain’t mine.” he says in response dry and uninterested in your attempt to start a conversation. “why the hell do you have a random dog?” you ask confused but not really surprised. “The doctors, and just how do you know where we’re going.” he says not knowing if you’re following the dog or leading her. “I have my ways” you say before you stop walking and lift your mask just to show your nose, as you take a deep breath you notice that the doctors sent smells different smells bloodier. the dog runs ahead to a fallen huge piece of metal, it looked like it was apart of a building but your not to sure. you start to jog ahead following the dog, the ghoul not far behind. Once you catch up you see a headless body that belongs to the doctor, the dog lays her head on his lap and makes a short whimper noise.
you crouch down next to her petting her head “I guess we found our man.” you say looking up at the ghoul. “part of him.” he says looking around foot prints catching his eyes. “so what’s this information you have for me.” he sounds frustrated that you haven’t told him yet (and your surprised he hasn’t shot you for not telling him yet) “the value dweller has his head and is going to a woman named moldavor.” you say now standing looking at the ghoul, he doesn’t respond. You lift your mask just above your nose again taking another whiff of the air. “what in hell are you doin?” he says turning to look at you “do you ever take off that mask?” he says a moment later. “not around strangers I don’t” you say putting your mask back on now knowing what direction she’s heading.
“you must be fuckin hideous hiding your face in this world” he says lightly laughing. “something like that, here” you throw him a chem, you have met quite a few ghouls (well the non feral ones) are normally fairly nice, so you started carrying chems on you when ever you have space just in case. “I’m not to sure how many you have but I know you’ll need one soon.” you say as he catches it, he looks at you confused maybe a little Great-full too.
“well we know where she’s heading we can stop here for now” the ghoul says. about 20 minutes later you guys have a fire going and sitting down, no words spoken. “I’m y/n” you try to start a conversation to no response. “do you wanna tell me yours?”. “do you wanna take off that damn mask?” the ghoul snaps back. you sigh, “okay mr ghoul, no need to be so rude” you whisper as you wipe down your gun. the ghoul heard you but choses to ignore it “do you ever take off the mask” he says sounding a lot less defensive. “depends” you reply “on what?” he asks curiously. “if im alone yeah sure, with others it really depends on who im with” you say never looking up at him “so your hiding something.” his words sound like a question but his tone tells you it’s not, “I can keep watch if you want to rest” you say, the ghoul doesn’t move. you put your pistol in your holster while the ghoul watches your every move, you stand up and stretch a bit and walk around where your little camp is “are you not tired?” you ask the ghoul, once again he doesn’t respond he just puts his hat over his face ‘thanks for the response’ you think to yourself.
after a few minutes you sit back down with your back turned to the ghoul and you take off your mask. it’s hard to hear and see in that thing and if your going to be in the dark you’d prefer to have any advantage you can in a fight, and well having built in night vision it’s pretty handy. you pull your jacket hood up to cover your ears to the best of your ability. you put out the fire, after about 26 minutes you see figures running in your direction it’s a pack of ghouls you nudge the ghoul to wake him up “you should get up there’s a handful of ghouls coming our way” you say before putting back on your mask and standing up with your pistol out, the ghoul stands up trying to see what your looking at but it’s practically pitch black but he hears the footsteps and that’s all he really needs. the dog runs up and attacks one of the ghouls and with our fully thinking you follow, but the ghoul stays his distance. you shoot a few only killing 3 as your reloading you hear one coming from behind you, you turn and pistol whip them as they fall to the ground you feel another one grab your ankle. You take out your switch blade and stab it in the side of his neck before kicking him with your other foot grabbing the back out after your ankle was released and stabbing him in the head again, blood gets everywhere your eyes on your mask are practically covered in blood. you focused alittle to hard on whipping it off when you get tackled to the ground by another, you can’t even see what’s attacking you as you struggle to take off your gas mask while kicking this thing off if you. After you get it off is when you feel the ghouls dead weight on your body with a bullet threw his head you shove him off and you start to stand up “you were really about to let the last one take you?” the ghoul laughs, you wipe the blood off of your face and brush yourself off “yeah well I expected to get a-bit more help from you.” you say irritated “I wanted to see if you could hold your own. clearly you can’t” he says stepping closer “I didn’t think I had to dickhead, I assumed you had my back.” you say sounding more and more pissed off. “they got your mask off?” he asks knowing the answer considering he saw your face. you turn away making sure your ears are still covered from the man, “you ain’t ugly, so why wear it?” “I’ll answer that question the day you tell me your name.” you scoff. “fair enough little miss” he sounds more chear full, that makes your blood boil. ‘took almost losing my life to have him pleased, fuck off’ you think to yourself grabbing your mask and getting as much blood off of it as you can.
VERY SORRY IT TOOK ME THIS LONG I’m sorry it’s not the best my wifi has been supper weird and I had to do this all on my phone and I’ve been sick the past few days☹️ but hopefully it’s good enough!!
