You and Lo’ak have always had a special connection, and everyone is aware of it. You also clearly like eachother, but both of you doubt that the others feel the same. When you joined them on their travel to the water na’vis, you were quite nervous with what to expect.

“What if they find us?” You ask warily.

“Well then I will protect you.” Lo’ak states.

You smile at his braveness, even though you and him both know that deep down he is just as scared. But Lo’ak loves when he gets a chance to act brave and fearless like his dad.

When you all arrived at the reefs, you were still kind of cautious, and Lo’ak saw this, so pulled you between him and Neteyam. You kept your head down, avoiding the eyes of the Metkayina. You looked away as Jake spoke to Tonowari and Ronal, and glanced at the water around you.

Thats when you spotted a girl emerging from the water. She seemed about your age, and was beautiful. Way prettier than you, you thought. You noticed how Neteyam and Lo’aks heads turned in the same direction, and seemed to linger on the same girl. Neteyam you didnt really care about looking, but you felt insecure as Lo’aks eyebrows ever so slightly raised as his eyes followed the girl, and she looked at him, too. You know you shouldnt feel this way, but you cant help it. For all you know, Lo’ak doesnt have any interest in you, not like you with him.

When she was introduced as Tonowari and Ronal’s daughter, it made you feel even worse about yourself. You weren’t anyone special back in the jungle, just a normal omatikaya na’vi. With Lo’ak being Jake’s son, you felt worried that they would have stronger connections than you and him.

You were taken away from your thoughts by a tug on your arm, and snapped out of it to focus on Lo’ak infront of you.

“Y/n, come on, they are showing us our home. Are you okay?” He says, a hint of concern in his tone.

“Yeah yeah I’m fine, come on” you reply, going ahead with your hand still in his. Lo’ak wasnt fully convinced, but decided to drop it.

Once you had settled in to your home, you were all called to the water, to learn the ways of the Metkayina. You stayed beside Lo’ak, as you were lead to the rocks by the water, by Tsireya and her two brothers. You all sat in a circle, you securely sat between Neteyam and Lo’ak.

“You must learn to slow your breathing to be able to survive under the water.”

She knelt infront of Lo’ak, and placed her hand on his lower abdomen.

“Breathe from here” she instructs

You know it is just their way of teaching, but you felt a wave of jealousy come over you. You werent the type to cause a scene, so you stayed sat down, quietly.

Once you all were able to slow your heart rate enough, you were lead to the water. Lo’ak had a sense of urgency about him as he went ahead with Tsireya, clearly going way too fast for him to handle so soon, and this made you feel deflated. You had only been there a matter of hours and already felt like Lo’ak had found someone over you. You didnt like feeling this way at all, and needed to get away from it. Neteyam, who was swimming beside you, noticed this, but before he was able to check, you spoke up.

“I dont feel all that well, I’m gonna go back.” You say, which is clearly a lie.

Neteyam could tell this, and with a quick glance to Lo’ak and the others ahead, he knew why you felt that way. But he knew you were reserved, and wouldnt tell him the truth, so didn’t want to push it.

“Do you want me to come with you?” He asks softly.

“No no its okay, you go on. Just tell the others I’ll join them another day.” You insist, and turn to swim back to shore before Neteyam could muster another word.

You were now sat down on the edge of your home dangling your feet in the water, splashing the surface with small glum kicks. Neytiri and Jake were with the girls exploring their new home and meeting the clan, so you were on your own.

That was until you heard footsteps.

“Y/n” you hear Lo’ak say as he spots you.

He sits down beside you, placing his feet in the water like you were, and shuffles up close.

“How come you didnt come with us into the sea? It was amazing!” Lo’ak says

“I uh, I didnt feel right,” you said with your head down towards the water “Just wanted to be on my own”

“Are you okay? You have seemed quiet.” He says, gently placing his hand on yours, “Have I done something?”

You look him in the eyes, his filled with concern, yours with longing.

“No, no, its just, its nothing.” You say, returning your focus to the water.

I talked about the financial abuse with my mom bc i was giving context to why therapy had been traumatic for me(therapist getting overwhelmed n giving up on me bc i was taking too long to unlink my bank account from mom among other things)

I told her about the timeline i wrote last night n about how it was all so so much that i could only do what id always known up until i was about 7, and how it stopped bc i remembered moms dont-talk rules

I told her about the discomfort down there i always had and how much pain i was in n how i thought that was normal n my fault and how i rlly wanted to hurt myself so i could stop hurting (an impulse i still have)

I told her about how my family gave up potty training me so they sat me on a rug like an untrained dog. I struggled with urine retention my whole life and it was too hard for them and mom didnt want anything to do with me so it was left to my dad and brothers and it made me tooo scared

I told her about how i was in the hospital for a uti bc of the exam, n how mom refused to see me bc she was angry with dad. And the nurses wouldnt let him come to my bed, but he was allowed to stay in the room until nighttimes. She said he was probably really good at putting on a good face and charming his way thru and convincing them to let him be around me at all. I thought wait i didnt tell you about pastor face tho

She said that it all made too much sense n my stuff is kind of a classic case unfortunately. It all makes so much sense n thats so horrific n sad

I dont remember what i said. I feel like i rambled over her n talked too much. She said stuff about how a lot of her own abuse went unnoticed bc she didnt have words for it, she didnt know much. N i said yeah i thought u get pregnant from kisses bc that was the one thing that didnt happen to me.

A lot of what we talked about was how this stuff just made lots of sense, and looking at my abuse history thru a lens of it was all related to sexual abuse the whole time actually made sooo much sense. I talked about how moms rules about sexual abuse were that it isnt sexual abuse until penetration

-the outfit danny had to buy for dash's party. CLASSIC 2000S i cannot stop laughing. And also showing up to the party and everyone is dressed like the trio is hilarious. and further proof that everyone looks good dressed goth.

Hey sorry for taking so long i actually had this reply ready but tumblr fucked everything up and deleted :( anyways lets start with Cereza. I will try to list some interesting facts about her:(sorry for my bad English btw)

Cereza:

- Cereza grew with small(and non deadly) magical creatures living on her house, her father was a magizoologist and he was her main inspiration to become one. She wishes she can be good as he used to be.

- Her house was once attacked by death eaters when Voldermort was still alive and her father got heavily injured while he tried to protect her. The family survived the attack but David(her father) got his legs heavily injured to point he almost cant stand up properly anymore. That caused him to stop working as a magizoologist and start working more at home, Cereza heavily blames herself for what happend to her dad(when the death eater found her hiding under her bed she didnt move or tried to run, she was paralyzed with fear, she was a small child.)

- After the attack her family moved to Brazil to start a new life there. They lived there for a few years.

- She studied at Castelobruxo for year until her mom decided to out nowhere move back to England. Cereza and Michael(her twin) couldnt understand why their mom wanted to do this but their father told them that everything was fine, even tho their mom looked like she was scared or running away from something.

- Cereza is a gifted student at care of magical creatures, making her the only student (besides Talbott) who managed to tame a hippogriff.

- Cereza's patronus used to be an owl(like her animagus form) until her 5th year. Her patronus changed to a golden eagle.

- Cereza's english was really bad during her early years at Hogwarts. The only person that could understand her what she was saying was Rowan. Rowan also helped her get better with her English.(sometimes when she gets nervous, angry or when she is talking to herself she might speak in portuguese or spanish.)

- She never thought getting into quidditch before, until one day the quidditch captain of the hufflepuff team(Orion)wanted her to join his team. He saw how good her flying skills were and he needed a new member in the team so he trained Cereza to become a seeker.

- Her romantic feelings for Talbott started blooming at the end of her 4th year.

- She fears Erika, Erika is the only student she wouldnt dare to throw hands with.

- Cereza has a diary where she draws and writes about her feelings, nobody ever saw what she draws or writes inside that diary besides Michael.

- Her boggart can have two forms: being face to face with a death eater and the people who she loves looking heavily injured while saying they are like this because of her, that its all her fault.

- Her parents adopted her from a Brazilian orphanage while they were on a trip.

- Jasmine considers herself to be a muggleborn witch, but she suspects that her real parents(or at least one of them) might be a witch/wizard.

- Her boggart is a werewolf and the reason behind its because she decided to explore the forbideen forest by herself one night and while she was at it a werewolf found her and attacked her, the werewolf of course was stronger and way bigger than her so she couldnt even fight back. When she thought she was going to die the centaurs found her and saved her, they helped her find her way back to Hogwarts safely but she will always remember that night in her nightmares.

- Jasmine became heavily attached to Daniel and Ivy, Jas was a lonely kid and never had muggle friends or brothers so when those two decided to become friends with her she felt an inexplicable happiness.

- Her favourite class is flying, she was scared of flying at first but after her first try she started like it.

- She is a very over protective friend so when Cassandra and the twins started to pick on Daniel she didnt hesitate to fight them right on spot.

- Jasmine found bowtruckle in danger in the forbideen forest once and not only she helped the little guy but adopted him as her pet, who she likes to carry around. She didnt name him but sometimes she calls him Mr Stick as a joke.

-She threw a fit because we were getting McDonald's ice cream instead of bruams ice cream -legit kicking and screaming on the ground in public - and evem though this was a few years ago -SHE WAS 9 almost ten can u umagine a 10yo throwing a fit like a toddler? Wtf?

-doesn't do her chores: if my mom asks her shell just straight up say "no" and mom will just make someone else do it

same for if anyone asks her to do something -like to open a door when my hands are full "no"

The bell above the door rang as you and Aaliyah entered the little restaurant. You took a quick glance around at the tables to find Karen and Manny sitting in the corner booth already. They were looking at the menus as if they weren’t memorized by all of you by now. You nudged Aaliyah and motioned to where her parents were. 

“What are you getting this time?” She asked as you both walked towards the booth.

“Probably the blueberry pancakes. I got the eggs last time.” You mused out loud. “Or should I get the mixed berry waffles? They both come with a good bit of berries on the side. No never mind, I’m getting the pancakes.”

“Glad I could help you make that decision.” Aaliyah chuckled as you scooted into the couch against the wall. “Hey mum, hey dad.”

“Hey girls, how was your morning?” Manny asked, eyes still on the menu.

"Pretty good, you know Saturday mornings are my favorite.” You grinned.

Aaliyah scoffed and rolled her eyes playfully. “Ugh, such a sweet talker.” 

Every Saturday morning, you had a breakfast date with Aaliyah and her parents. Sometimes Shawn was included, and other times, like today, he wasn’t. And every Saturday morning, without fail, Karen would guess exactly what you and Aaliyah were going to order.

“Alright Auntie Karen, hit me.” 

“Hmm, let’s see. Aaliyah’s going to get the... she’s going to get the turkey sandwich with extra hash browns.” You turned to Aaliyah who nodded, not fazed that her mom knew what she was going to order. “And the cup of strawberries for desert.”

“That doesn’t count, she gets it every time. Now me.”

“You... I think you’re going to get the mixed berry waffles.” You opened your mouth to correct her, but she cut you off. “No no, don’t tell me! You’re going to get the umm the blueberry pancakes! I’m right, aren’t I?”

“Every time! How do you do it?” You exclaimed.

Karen laughed and waved you off. “Magic, darling”

The waitress came and took the orders from Manny with a look on her face that said ‘I know these people, but I’m not sure where from’. Something you were quite used to when going out with the Mendes family. After she left, Aaliyah chatted with her mom while you chatted with Manny, recounting the events of the past week the others didn’t know about.

There was a lull in the conversation when Manny received an important email he had to check and Aaliyah took out her phone to text her boyfriend. Karen cleared her throat and looked over at you. “So we uh, we thought Shawn might be joining us this morning for breakfast. Considering your date went well last night?”

Suddenly, Manny’s email wasn’t important anymore and Aaliyah’s conversation with Jordan was put on hold and all eyes were on you.

“Uh yeah, it went really well actually.” You smiled, ears heating up at the memory of last night. “He said he wanted to head to his apartment today, wanted to write something in the studio thing he’s got there.”

Karen and Manny made eye contact and smiled. “Mm, not surprising.” Karen mumbled.

“No, not at all.” Manny replied, picking up his phone and returning to his email. 

You raised your eyebrows in question and turned to Aaliyah. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

She shrugged in response, “If you don’t know, I’m not going to tell you.”

You groaned and ran your hands through your hair. “I hate you guys and your secrets.”

The drive back to the house was mostly uneventful. Manny insisted he play his music, which you found hilarious and Aaliyah found embarrassing. 

Karen was dropped off at her office on the way to take her car back home. Aaliyah called shotgun as soon as her mom got out of the car, leaving you alone in the backseat. You decided to take advantaged of the situation and take up the whole back seat. 

You took out your phone and saw that Shawn had replied to your good morning text while you were at breakfast.

shawnie boy: morning

shawnie boy: are you guys done with breakfast?

you: yea, heading home rn

you: you still at your apartment?

shawnie boy: why? do you miss me already?

you: maybe..

You definitely missed him already.

shawnie boy: ur cute

shawnie boy: i came home, brian stopped by to raid my fridge so i brought him with me

shawnie boy: hes staying for lunch

you: see u guys in a bit

As soon as you sent your reply, you received a text from someone else. You were going to swipe it away when you realized it was from Brian.

brian craigen (shawn’s friend): hey y/n

You quickly changed his redundant contact name before replying.

you: hey brian, whats up?

Brian never really texted you, not to say that you didn’t talk. He was Shawn’s best friend and you were Aaliyah’s. All four of you were almost always at their house. You were all very much a part of each other’s childhoods growing up. But he just never texted you. If he ever had something to say to you, he would just wait until he saw you next. There was never anything urgent in your conversations. 

So you had no clue why he was texting you right now.

brian criagen: are you texting shawn rn?

brian criagen: like currently

you: yea?

brian craigen: dude hes smiling at his phone mad hard rn

you: does everyone know this is going on?

brian craigen: everyone’s known since forever y/n dont kid yourself

you: oof was i that obvious?

brian craigen: you both were

“Hey, is the air on back there?” Manny called to you in the back, looking at you through the rearview mirror.

“Yeah, it’s good.” You reassured him. 

He raised an eyebrow at you and turned it up a little more, regardless of your reply. “Are you sure? You’re face is really red, kid.”

“It’s because she’s texting Shawn.” Aaliyah teased in a sing-song voice.

“Am not!” Not fully a lie on your part.

“So she’s texting about Shawn. Same thing.”

Manny chuckled and shook his head at you and his daughter’s antics. 

When you got home, you saw Shawn’s car in the driveway. No one missed the way you perked up in your seat.

“Don’t get too excited.” Aaliyah smirked, fishing out her keys to the front door.

“Shut up.” You groaned and walked away from her and into the kitchen. You saw Brian on the couch and called out a ‘Hey, Brian’ in passing.

Shawn turned around as soon as he heard your voice. “Hey.” He smiled, cheeks the most adorable shade of pink and a steaming mug of what you knew was green mint tea in his hand. 

You hip checked him when you reached the counter and grabbed yourself a mug. Seeing his mug of tea made you want to make some of your favorite too.

“Hey.” You smiled. Shawn came to stand closer to you while you added some water to the kettle and pulled out a tea bag.

You hopped up on the counter as you waited for your water to boil. Shawn came to stand right in front of you and put his forearms on your shoulders. 

This wasn’t necessarily new, all the touching and close quarters, both of you always had a lack of needing personal space. At least around each other. But it felt new. He wasn’t your best friend’s brother who you secretly had a crush on anymore. But he wasn’t anything else at this point really. It was too early to tell.

Shawn leaned forward and pressed his forehead to yours. “What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” You hummed, a ghost of a smile on your lips.

Shawn raised his eyebrows, clearly enjoying the banter. “Oh, so we’re keeping secrets this early in our relationship?”

“Yup, I’m a tough cookie to crack. Can’t get me that easy.”

“I think I already know what’s got your mind working overtime.”

“Pray tell.”

“I think you wanna know what we are.” Shawn’s tongue darted out to lick his lips. He really didn’t want to have gotten that wrong.

You bit your lips at his words, shocked at how easily he could read you. “Am I that easy to read?”

“A little bit.” Shawn shrugged. “But maybe it’s also because I’ve been thinking the same thing.”

“Then what are we? It’s only been one date. Or two.”

“But it’s also been a decade. I know you like the back of my hand. Not something most people can say after one or two dates.”

“You are incredibly right Mr. Mendes. Whatever shall we do? Simply be pliant in the hands of a higher power?”

“It seems we have but no choice.” Shawn giggled, bumping his nose against yours. 

“Mm, good. I don’t like making choices. Too much thinking is required.”

“Then let me do the thinking for you.” Shawn leaned in and pressed a chaste kiss to your lips. It wasn’t a needy kiss or an experimental kiss. It was just a kiss. Granted, it wasn’t a short one. It was like both of you were taking a crash course on what it’s like to feel loved by the other. Every kiss he gave you felt like it was waiting to happen since you first met. 

You didn’t know how long you were sat there on the counter, Shawn standing between your legs. You water had long finished boiling. The table that was clear when you first arrived was now fully set, courtesy of Aaliyah you presumed. 

Considering the fact that she was sitting right there.

“Uh, hi Liyah?” Shawn said, breaking the tension.

“Is this what I’m gonna have to deal with from now on?”

“Come on Aaliyah, we all knew this was gonna happen at one point.” Brian came up from behind her and patted her on the head, messing up her hair in the process. “I, for one, am glad the pining is over.”

“Oh, I’m definitely glad the pining is over.” Shawn smirked. “Cause now I can do this whenever I want.” He pulled you in for another kiss, completely disregarding his best friend and his sister being audience to the intimate moment.

Aaliyah balled up a napkin and threw at you and her brother. “I don’t really care, y’all know that. Just please, please, for the love of God, lock the door when you’re going at it!” Aaliyah laughed as she got up to set the food on the table.
