Since this was after DU drow decided he was gonna fuck him out of pure contrarian spite and was shamelessly laying it extremely thick, He happilly let Astarion drink his blood. Hell, he was probably a little Too Eager - the guy likes pain and he likes letting people he trusts do with his body whatever they will, and while he didn't yet trust Astarion at that point, that event might've very well reminded him of something from his past that planted a seed which would eventually grow into his genuine affection for the guy.

Oh man, I grew up fascinated with horror things. I remember from a very young age just looking at the covers and backs of horror movies at the film-rental even though I wasn't allowed to watch them. I was also easily scared but I sought those things out anyway - I think i just enjoyed the visceral reactions it drew out of me and was always curious about most things taboo.

When I got access to the internet that just opened a (very unfortunate) door to all things vile and awful like it did for so many people at that age in time. Though my tastes have changed a lot since then (Less August Underground, more The Devils kind of guy nowadays) my stories and art are just always going to fall into a horror-y category because I just... Don't think there's many better ways to showcase the human experience and emotional range without many of the elements native to the genre, and I'm all about that.

Just as you spun around to face the door of the bedroom, he was walking in. You smiled, exhaling a breath you'd been holding in your hurry. As you took him in, you saw a bouquet of red roses in his hand, that ever charming smile gracing his face as he walked toward you.

"I could fill this entire place with them and it still wouldn't come close to what you deserve," he spoke softly as he watched you admire the petals before you placed them on top of the dresser beside you. You turned to face him again as his arms wrapped around you. Your hands found the lapels of his jacket and you gripped them when he pulled you closer to him, chest to chest as he gazed down at you.

You returned his gaze, breath catching in your throat at the glimmer in his eyes, the affection you found swimming there, a pang of guilt you had never really experienced before shot through you.

"What's wrong?" he asked, concern evident in his voice as he eyed you.

Your eyes widened at his question, shocked you'd let the emotion show on your face for him to notice. Fuck, you were slipping.

"Nothing," you breathed with a shake of your head, letting a smile grace your face as you pressed yourself closer to him. "I just, I didn't get you anything as nice," you lied effortlessly, a small pout forming as you gave him your best puppy eyes.

"Angel," he admonished, "I don't need a damn thing as long as I have you."

He leaned down and his lips met yours in a soft kiss as he squeezed you. You parted for just a second before you leaned back up to him, your hands finding his hair as you pulled him down to you, the kiss intoxicating as you lost yourself in his touch the longer it went on. You unbuckled his belt then ran your hands back up along his solid chest, leaning over him before placing delicate kisses along his cheeks, his jaw, down his neck while you unbuttoned his shirt. His hands found your ass and he squeezed you as he mewled at your attention.

You saw a petite woman holding a garment bag as her eyes avoided both of you. "I know what I said, Alina," he cut her off, "you can just leave it there." He gestured to the chaise near the window and you watched as she scurried over to lay the bag down. She was gone in a flash and your eyes returned to Artem as you raised a brow at the unexpected interruption.

"As much as I'd love to stay and finish this," he huffed, walking to grab his jacket and check himself in the mirror, "I have an appointment I can't miss. I just wanted to drop those off for you and tell you I'll see you later. Before you accosted me with your tongue." He smirked before crossed back over to you, taking your face gently in his hands as he leaned down and kissed you softly, "So, I'll see you later. That's part of your gift," he said nodding to the bag.

"Artem-"

"No, no arguing. It's for you, and there will be another delivery soon, too. All you need to do is get ready for dinner later and I'll be back to pick you up at seven."

Your hands held his wrists as he continued holding your face.

Hi, I want to know your opinion on or what you think it would happened to Alicent children in the very impossible case and that the dance didn’t happened; let’s say the greens let Rhaenyra be crowned; like there’s is not that many options of what she can do with her siblings, and let’s be honest I don’t think she would have been a good queen she never learned how to rule and there is no way her rule would be easy having a bastard as heir (but that’s another subject ‘cause I know that if Jace ever came near the throne Daemon would have started the Dance)

I hace think of three options: 1) She let them live and remain as princes and princess as well a Alicent being dowager queen, maybe just send them to Dragonstone or Oldtown.

2) Daemon convinces her of getting rid of them (principal Aegon, Aemond and Daeron as well a Jaehaerys and Maelor), because at least according to the book he hated his nephews for pushing him down the line. Show Rhaenys probably would support this, a mean she lied to her saying the Greens were coming for her children when none of them except for Otto mentioned.

So, right off the bat, I think book Rhaenyra would feel little remorse merking her brothers. People dunk on book Alicent for beefing with a child, but book Rhaenyra also wasn’t happy with her younger brothers especially by the time the dance came around (and she has a one sided beef with a 16 year old girl later on but that’s beside the point). Even before the dance she didn’t like them. We also get actual lines saying Daemon also didn’t like his nephews because they pushed him down in the succession. Daemon very clearly writes a ‘son for a son’ to Rhaenyra then b&c happens, essentially ruining Helaena’s life for good. How much culpability people want to put on Rhaenyra is their prerogative, but if she had no problem with that happening to Helaena of all people. I don’t think she’d feel bad murdering her brothers, especially if she thought they actively stood in her way. Also book Rhaenyra set a precedent for harming those in her way. Having vaemond killed, being ok with viserys taking the tongues of those who dared questioned her kid’s parentage etc. She had no real connection to them. She said she would ‘spare’ them then when she realized Aegon was fine with being king, she switched on a dime. That affection was contingent on them bending the knee to her. Honestly, even if they swore fealty to her, I think the ‘peace’ would have been short lived on both sides.

Book Rhaenyra "My half brothers would be more to his taste” Targaryen was not checking for anyone like that. She was rude asf 😭. Someone smarter than her could hopefully say it’s not a good look to kill your siblings as your first action as queen lmao. But Rhaenyra clearly didnt care how she came off as long as she was in power. Like most monarchs.

Now what show Rhaenyra would do is a bit more complex imo

It’s quite hard to theorize bc while I still think much like the book, Rhaenyra has little genuine affection towards her siblings, I don’t think the choice to kill them would be easy for her. Mainly bc her feelings for Alicent. That being said, she has shown she is willing to throw her brothers under the bus. Specifically if it means protecting her kids.

I side eye the ‘show Rhaenyra would never have her siblings killed’ crowd. She might feel actual remorse or it would take some real convincing, but I don’t think that option is completely off the table for her. She knows how much her father favors her and she continues to twist that knife against her younger siblings. I think much of the paranoia we are going to see from Rhaenyra in the show not only comes from obviously losing her kids, but also from the two people who ‘protected’ her (daemon and viserys. I’m using this very losely bc they suck and saying this from her pov) essentially leaving her high and dry. Viserys shielded her from a lot of criticism and repercussions others would normally face. That paranoia/feeling alone, much like how Alicent’s manifested in show, could lead her to assuming her children will be killed. She would maybe try to get ahead of that.

Realistically, I can see show Rhaenyra sending terms the way Alicent did for her. Saying if they swear to her, they can go free. Now daemon is a whole different beast. Who knows - he couldve went behind her back and did something to the targtowers. Or she could have other advisors telling her to think of her kids/grandkids. Because even if there is no war between them, who is to say older Jaehaerys and Maelor won’t come to get what they think they are owned against Rhaenyra or even jace and baela’s hypothetically kids.

show rhaenyra would have pushed for peace, much like Alicent did, but I think Rhaenyra is surrounded by more forceful people. Daemon, corlys, rhaenys. On the other hand, we see Alicent take notice of Otto’s plotting and make moves to counteract that. It’s why I’ll never get the Alicent has no agency convo. The only reason Rhaenyra receives terms in the first place is bc of Alicent. If the roles were reversed, idk how that would have went. Otto lets this happen after Alicent agrees that Aegon will assume his authority. Plus I think Aegon craves his mother’s love/approval far more than daemon does Rhaenyra’s. Daemon doesn’t listen to Rhaenyra. The likelihood of Aegon listening to Alicent is higher

So, who knows how it would’ve panned out in the show. It’s very up in the air tbh.

Side note: It’s funny you mentioned the rhaenys line. I still do not get why she said that to Rhaenyra. All Alicent told rhaenys is that siding with Rhaenyra has done nothing for her family. True. And that without Meleys/velaryon support, Rhaenyra would maybe would NEGOTIATE. Also true. Alicent literally said she didn’t want war. What about Alicent’s tear filled pathetic brown eyes gave ‘omg can’t wait to kill Rhaenyra and them fuckass kids 🤪’ vibes to Rhaenys. Alicent says she wants peace, rhaenys snaps on her. Yes! Okay I'll write it under a readmore- content warnings for abuse and trauma, in this specific case sexual. ...It ended up very long, I'm sorry >< !! I hope it all makes sense at least.

Now that I'm actually about to write it I realize how much context i need to give, so I'll try to do it as simply as possible but this is actually the first time im talking about this piece in depth, so it may still be a little messy..

At the time of making the piece I was at the end of a very long and hurtful relationship. During that relationship I was coerced, taken advantage of, and had my decline of consent ignored (that's one way to put it.. its hard to talk about lol). The timeline leading up to the illustration is hard to explain, but some time before is when i started accepting that i was trans. I allowed myself to see me as i am, explore my identity, approach my own thoughts/feelings with curiosity instead of fear. I gained a lot of confidence in that time (at least, compared to what i had before!) but i kept it a secret from my then-partner as they werent exactly accepting. With this newfound confidence though I expressed some desires to them that they gave a very clear and solid no to, so I immediately dropped it and moved on. (I should also say, i never really asked for anything in that relationship before. The things my partner did made me think that i was asexual for years, lmao) Later, nearing the end of it, is when i started realizing how truly awful the things they did were and how deeply it affected me. I felt like I had given (been taken from, actually) so much and had nothing to show for it. I also had the realization when thinking back about when I myself asked for something too but was told no, just how easy it was to accept that. In fact is was impossible to imagine not accepting it and getting them to do what i wanted anyways.

So to now explain the phrase "and now with thorns of his own, its the roses call to endure" The thorns are the shift of the dynamic, where as before the rose was the only one with them, the character in the illustration had now grown his own. Equally awful to touch or be touched by. He calls on the rose to endure just as he did. But, of course, I didnt feel that way. I would never want to do that to someone. I could never expect that from them, you know? How could I? And thats just it- thats where the anger came from: How could they?

The realization of what its like on the other end to be told "no" and to imagine pushing them to deal with it regardless was infuriating. The illustration calls on the rose to endure, but the anger in the piece is about asking it to do so. It's such an impossible thing to imagine doing, but something that I experienced for years. I was angry with myself for going through that, I was angry with them for everything they did, and i put it all in that illustration. It was genuinely one of the most healing illustrations ive ever made, and i officially ended the relationship soon after.

With all illustrations there really is more to it than can be said with a blanket explanation like that. But the major emotional force was driven by those things, if that makes sense? I am glad people can connect to this piece or see themself in their own way, however they interpret it. I've had people say they feel seen with it, or that its satisfying to them, and it fills my heart so much that it aches. As i said before, its bittersweet, but so meaningful to me.

I wrote this earlier today and while reviewing the draft I see how messy it is, but I'm going to post anyways! I apologize if it's incoherent- it's hard to tall about complex emotions like that. And due to how personal it is (the most personal I've ever been online I think) I'll delete it sometime in the future. Anyways, thank you again for reaching out about it! I don't get a chance to talk about my work very often. ♡

Y’know I kinda wanna elaborate on the HC I mentioned, where I said that if Donald hadn’t found out what Douglas was doing and intervened, Douglas would’ve eventually cracked and fessed up

Mostly I wanna elaborate that he wouldn’t have fessed up because of ethical guilt (though I do think he may have something somewhere inside him that would give a damn about ethics. He did seem pretty excited to do good things after all) but more because he’s got the emotional strength of a wet tissue and would feel personal guilt after getting so attached

I’m gonna put most of it under a cut ‘cause it turned into a full on Douglas study I guess

Like... obviously I’m prefacing this with it being my own interpretation of the guy, but Douglas was a pretty emotional dude in the show. His entire redemption was rooted in his emotional attachment to his family. His morals never 100% improved, and the growth we did see was almost entirely motivated by “My family won’t like me if I’m a bad guy :(”

And while he’s not a particularly GOOD dad, he is a dad. Literally every kid Douglas gets more than 2 minutes of screen time with, he goes into some kind of Dad Mode

So, the way I see it, I don’t think Douglas would’ve lasted if he got to keep the Rats for longer than he did. It’s never actually said how old the kids were when Donald found out, but they couldn’t have been older than like... 3? Tops? Possibly even younger, technically. If Douglas actually got to watch those kids grow up in whatever messed up environment he had them in to keep them hidden (Which, I’ll be honest- based on comparing the brothers’ lab quality, was probably a worse environment than Donald’s lab) I don’t think he would’ve been able to commit. Not with the original trio, anyway

ALSO. I wanna bring up Donald, ‘cause he’s also a factor in of himself

Yeah, the brothers fight a lot, and did fight a lot. But I think it’s worth remembering that despite that, these two founded a company together. They invented things together. They work together seamlessly when they get in the zone. Douglas, despite all the animosity, was ecstatic at the prospect of getting to work alongside his brother again, and was genuinely sad when Donald didn’t feel the same, but chose not to fight Donald’s decision

Douglas cares what Donald thinks of him, and I bet he cared a lot more before Donald discovered what was happening and made his own judgement call. The two of them had to have been incredibly close, and that probably would’ve weighed on Douglas, too

But Donald found out on his own, and he didn’t waste time. He saw the children, he saw the conditions, the plans, the schematics. There was absolutely no way to rationalize what was happening here, Donald had to get these kids out and away. His little brother was using their assets to make deals with terrorists regarding the creation of bioweapons in the form of children

And Douglas was left ghosted by the most consistent presence in his life for the past 20+ years, locked out of the company he helped build from nothing, and separated from these kids who have also been a consistent presence in his life for entirely different reasons

And Douglas is notorious for deflecting and pushing back when someone else decides that he’s in the wrong. All that potential turmoil means the time between Donald finding out and Douglas “dying” was probably like. Intense. To put it mildly

All this to say: Douglas is still a DICK lmao and the point of this post is NOT to be like “Douglas deserved better” or even “Donald is to blame.” It’s more about how Douglas is a notably emotion-driven character and how it affects his dynamics and actions, both positive and negative

It’s also my favorite kind of angst- where technically, things could have turned out okay, or at least better than they did, if everyone involved hadn’t been such a mess

(also I was slowly dragging my mouse on the progress bar during the scenes between Michael and Ava hoping nothing was about to happen, every single time lol I'm so happy they never even got close to a kiss but the emotional weight was more with him and his mom- which was so heartbreaking to watch)

Aaah, now that I'm hearing from everyone who was able to avoid spoilers, I'm so jealous, next time, that's gonna be me!

Lol, anon, that is all SO relatable, trying to decide where anything big would fit into the last ep going into the mission, and I'll have to remember the progress bar trick with Ava and Michael, lmao. Thank you for letting me vicariously experience what it might have been like if I'd not been spoiled! That Scene must have been stunning to experience live with no idea it was coming at all. By that point, you still didn't know if they were even going to go all the way there, let alone kiss.

And so true, I genuinely was quite affected by the Jillian-Michael relationship and feel super bad for both. From what Michael said, he still "exists" in Reya's world, I wonder if--well, first, I wonder if all this will push Jillian to the dark side, now that Adriel is gone and they'll need a visible villain for next season, but if not, I wonder if either she'll go over to Reya's world to try to find him, or maybe Ava'll come back with another version, maybe even a little kid version that hadn't aged, if I were writing a post-s2 fic with Ava returning, I might be tempted to give them Jillian and Michael a happy ending too.

Fuck it, I’m going back to front because I cannot figure out how to separate analysing everything and how it comes across in the moment, from analysing everything in light of the Ranboo reveal, how this shifts perspective (both for us and for Wilbur) and how different relationships might be affected in the future. So I have to start with the reveal and then work my way back. I would apologise for the half incomprehensible ask spam I’m about to send you, but you brought this upon yourself by putting so much worth analysing in one chapter.

Anyway, Ranboo. Oh boy, Ranboo. I want to get out of the way that he deserves every single bruise Tommy gave him and to get cussed out so hard for the number of times Tommy has defended him to Wilbur. Like half of their conflict stems from disagreeing over whether or not Ranboo is a spy (that’s probably an exaggeration, but shhh, I’ll get to that). And he’s pushing the I’m noisy agenda the entire time.

And it’s so interesting to hear him explain how he tries to do it. He has learned not to push Wilbur like everyone else has because it risks losing what little progress he has. But he still prods every chance he gets because Techno asked him to befriend Tommy and Wilbur so he could get more information and Ranboo desperately wants to prove himself.

We don’t know how he got into his position, but I imagine there’s a lot of pressure to do well even if he isn’t at risk of losing it. Which doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel guilty or doesn’t genuinely like hanging out with Tommy. He does. He feels bad that Tommy’s hurting and wants to help. Maybe he even thinks that he is helping. Because right now his task is: figure out what happened in the fight with the intent of being able to solve it or helping/pushing/manipulating them into making up.

I feel like he was having less and less luck with Tommy and getting cussed out for being nosy. And then he sees Wilbur and manages to have a conversation for once. So he thinks he’s making progress there. And he wants to make progress so bad that he basically begs Techno to be allowed to keep trying. Because he’s learned that playing into being nosy and backtracking and apologising seems to work with Wilbur.

Then there’s the guilt. Because he has to feel guilty. Like Wilbur literally told him to his face that he doesn’t want to get betrayed again and guess what Ranboo’s doing? And he does genuinely want to figure Wilbur out because it’s hurting Tommy and Tommy is his friend.

He can have both motives. He can tell himself it’s for the greater good, but he’s definitely trying to prove something even when he’s no longer being asked to as we can see in these lines [“No!” Ranboo cut in. “I can do it! I promise!” “I’m not sayin’ you can’t. You obviously already did.] He has no reason to keep trying, and I’m hoping it will bite him sooner or later.

Oh yeah Ranboo’s a little bitch lmao. In case you can’t tell, I don’t have a super positive opinion of c!Ranboo in the dsmp. I think he’s hypocritical and spineless so I love including that version of him in my fics. So much of crimeboys conflict in stars was because of Ranboo, and in the end, Wilbur was right! It was so fun writing all those arguments knowing the entire time that Wilbur’s paranoia was correct. Tricking your readers is very fun highly recommend lmao

Yeah that’s the thing, Ranboo doesn’t view what he’s doing necessarily as ‘bad’. He knows it’s a betrayal of trust for Tommy, but he also thinks it’ll help in the end. So he pushes to keep going with it. He wants to prove himself to Techno so he can keep his apprentice role (is that role under threat of being taken away from him? Not really lmao but he’s worried anyway). And yeah, he basically thinks he’s figured out how to talk to Wilbur finally! So he pushes to keep going! Even though he doesn’t have to!

It’s exactly like you said. Two motives. Neither one is actually acceptable, but he can excuse it to himself.

First, when Pocket woke up in that pool of blood my immediate thought was: "oh, maybe it's just her period and she forgot." And I really went on in this whole "well, that's a good thing because at least she's not pregnant" and "wow she really does get bad cramps then" even when she passed out because I know a friend who actually passed out from cramps. I kid you not only after the next part did I realize how much of a dumbass I was 😭 like girl, you don't bleed that much during your period. And my second thought was that it had something to do with the drugs which ??? I don't think you bleed out from overdose. Honestly, I was still waking up when I read that part, my braincells hadn't turned on fully yet. Idk i just ruled out her being pregnant because I was convinced she was poisoned LMAO.

Now their first interaction again went as expected, Pocket being angry and Bucky being a sad puppy. But, it did get a little intense though. The way Pocket reacted to the news was a bit, well, cruel and callous. There's no denying that. Like, I genuinely felt like I didn't know her because she's never typically this mean. But then again, she just found out she was pregnant and had a miscarriage at the same fucking time. AND you have the person who's hurt you, someone you hadn't seen in months in the same room. Bucky was also pushing boundaries with the way he reacted too, because at the end of the day, it is Pocket's choice whether she wants to keep the baby or not. And obviously, he can have his opinion being the father of the child but he's not gonna be the one who'd carry it for 9 months and get his body all fucked up so ultimately, he doesn't get the final say. HOWEVER. Pocket didn't have to be so cruel with that "trash taking itself out" line because it was obvious it meant something to Bucky, especially a man from the 40s who has different views on the whole, fetus doesn't equal a conscious baby etc. Sure, if probably given the chance he'd understand the gist of it, but right in the moment when they just found out the news? It was just a really mean thing to say. But again, they're both running on intense emotions so I can't blame either of them for how they handled things.

With that said, I truly do think this whole thing is going to affect Pocket more than she's letting on. Because they DO NOT NEED A BABY RIGHT NOW and she has all the right to not keep it when she would've found out about the pregnancy. But, with her miscarriage? This is yet another choice that was taken from her. Obviously, with the circumstances bringing a child into it is just never going to happen. But I have a feeling deep down, that she probably wanted it and if things were different she would've kept it. I mean, she said it herself at the last part, it probably was something she wanted too. So once she's calmed down and has the time to truly think about what just happened, it's going to hit her much harder than she's going to expect. I mean, I could be wrong, this is all just my assumptions. But in the next part, she did admit that she cared. So this whole thing is going to add another stack to her already growing guilt.

Now, with these next points, I'm probably going to get so much slack but, hey, I'm just here to share my opinion at the end of the day and some might not agree with it. But when they got back to the safe house, I felt a little iffy about Pocket blaming it ALL on Bucky as to why she's acting this way. Like, yes, he might've been the biggest reason she was pushed towards the edge and was sleeping around and doing drugs but, well, she still has some fault in that too. She can't just say that's what Bucky made her out to be because she still made these choices. Yes, she was acting on hurt and anger that was caused by him and yes he fucked up so bad that it caused her to act this way, but she still has some bit of fault in this too. Not everything, obviously, she wasn't in the right state both mentally and emotionally, but she made some bad choices and she won't be able to get through that and be able to learn from it if she's just going to point fingers.

And again, I'm probably going to get so much slack for this but in my opinion, Pocket needed that scolding when Bucky found the remnants of cocaine. Unfortunate it's coming from the person who hurt her the most but, either way, she needed someone to snap her out of this daze of always wanting to numb herself and actually get to see that there's going to be dire consequences if she kept going this route. Because Bucky was right. It's not even just about the baby anymore. She could've died. Can you imagine what that would've done to the people who cared about her? Sam when he's the one who left here there? Tony who's the person who suggested she go on that mission in the first place? Pocket was losing sight of that, so she really did need Bucky to remind her. And she needed to have that breakdown too. She's been running away for far too long and it's going to end up killing her if she keeps going. I mean, it almost did.

And I will say, you can clearly see how much Bucky has grown, despite it being off screen. With him mentioning that he's not expecting anything back from her, that he's going to accept his fate whether she decides to forgive him or not, it is quite refreshing. Like you can see someone who's clearly seen how much he's fucked up and has realized that what he's done is possibly unforgivable and is willing to accept that he's not going to get the love of his life back. Two months of therapy has done him good. I truly do believe that Bucky will be able to redeem himself because he's already shown some growth. I'm so happy that they're starting to have these conversations now too. It really does seem like they're on the healing path. All they need to do is to talk everything out. Even if it won't end in the getting back together, they could salvage some friendship at least.

Lastly, I know there's this argument that people are being too easy on Bucky. And while I don't condone any of the shit he's done, I mean, he still fucked up. But, I might seem that I'm being too forgiving because one, this is just fiction. If someone was like this in real life I'm out. And two, which is the same with the first one, Bucky's case isn't exactly as black and white as most men are. I mean, he's 106 years old, he's been tortured, used, abused, brainwashed for the 70 years and he can't remember most of it, he's a man out of time and he's clearly not yet healed. And I don't think you can't just take all of that into account as to why he is the way he is. BUT BUT again, this doesn't excuse his actions. He still needs to apologize and grovel and get himself together and fix things and do right with Pocket. It just means that I'm not going to view him as some evil asshole who's malicious and gets off from hurting the people he loves. Because he's not. He's a good man who has a good heart but unfortunately has made some terrible choices due to his circumstances. I mean, that doesn't mean he's immediately forgiven. It just means I can give him a bit of grace and empathy and see where he's coming from you know?

Anyway, I'm going to end this by saying, there's truly no villain between him and Pocket, they're both just so human. So there's really no need to pick sides or to argue who's better than who or who’s fully wrong and who's fully right etc etc. (Well, apart from Judas bc she's clearly the villain in every narrative in this story). This is getting so long, I'm so sorry. But you're amazing, and I truly do enjoy this story so much. Lots of love!

You know, I will happily take Wonderful Devil over Saint any day of the week, so I thank you, lol.

Pocket was also super in denial when she woke up in the puddle of blood. With everything that had been going on in her life, a pregnancy was by far the absolute LAST thing on her mind. It was more logical to think that someone had broken in during the night to stab her, lol. And I really, really, did push the possible poisoning narrative, just because so many people had clued into her being pregnant, I was like "shit! gotta toss a red herring!"

When Pocket got the news (plus the added stress of Bucky just being there), she was in shock. I hated writing her so callous, but I had to think: If I were in her situation, and I hadn't had the opportunity to really process this, and I was running solely on the anger I felt for my ex, how would I respond in my worst moment? And that's what I came up with. Bucky was right, though, when he told her that she didn't mean it. She didn't. She was just trying to make him hurt, and to convince herself (as well as him) that she wouldn't have wanted his baby.

As for Bucky pushing boundaries, I think that, if things had been different and they found out about the pregnancy earlier, and had had the opportunity to actually discuss it, if Pocket had truly wanted an abortion, he would have supported her. It was just the surprise of the moment, and him being from the 40s where that kind of thing wasn't really openly talked about. They were both feeling immense emotions at the moment, and neither one came out looking their best.

And yeah, when she has time to actually sit down and process everything, it's going to hit her, hard. Unfortunately, that's not going to be able to happen for awhile, and off page, because shit's about to go down real soon, and our story (or, this part of it, anyway) will wrap up before she gets the chance to deal with things.

And no, you are totally right-- it's not all Bucky's fault. Yeah, he hurt her, but Pocket chose to deal with that hurt the way she did. There were so many other things she could have done (hello, what happened to tried and true stress eating? lol), but she chose self destruction. The same way he's responsible for the way he handled Carthage, she's responsible for the way she's handled this. And Bucky definitely needed to open the can of tough love on her. I honestly don't think she would have accepted it from anyone else but him. He said harsh truths that she needed to hear. It's the kick in the pants she needed to stop running and start facing shit.

They'll be doing some more talking in 26, too. And I hope the extent of his growth will show more there.
