The sun was just beginning to set over as Miguel O'Hara, the leader of a highly skilled and diverse team, stood in his office, contemplating the imminent mission that had been brought to his attention. He knew it was not a task to be taken lightly, and assembling the perfect team was crucial. Each member had unique talents, and he believed their combined skills would work harmoniously for this mission.
Miguel took a deep breath, picking up his communicator and sending out the call to action. First on his list was (y/n), the woman with an uncanny ability to adapt to any situation and a remarkable talent for understanding and connecting with people. As the communicator buzzed, (y/n) picked up and greeted Miguel with enthusiasm.
"Hey, Miguel! What's up?" (y/n) asked cheerfully.
"Hey, (y/n)," Miguel replied. "I need you to come to my office. We have a mission that I think your talents would be perfect for."
Intrigued by the promise of a new challenge, (y/n) agreed without hesitation. She quickly made her way to Miguel's office, a sense of anticipation building with each step.
Next on the list was Miles Morales, a skilled and resourceful young man with incredible agility and the ability to blend into the shadows with ease. He answered the call, and Miguel extended the invitation for him to join the mission.
"Miles, we have a mission that requires your stealth and quick thinking," Miguel explained. "I need you here."
Miles was eager to accept, knowing that his abilities would be put to good use. He swung through the city's skyline using his Spider-Man powers, arriving at Miguel's office in no time.
Miguel's next call was to Gwen Stacy, also known as Spider-Woman or Ghost Spider to some. With her impressive acrobatic skills and scientific genius, she was a valuable asset to the team. When Gwen received Miguel's call, she immediately agreed to join the mission.
"Pavitr Prabhakar, I need your help as well," Miguel said when the next call connected. Pavitr, also known as Spider-Man India, was a skilled fighter and had the ability to harness the power of a mystical amulet. He gladly accepted the mission and prepared to join the others.
Finally, Miguel called Hobie Brown, also known as Spider-Man or Spider Punk to some. Hobie was an expert in stealth and technology, making him a vital member of the team. Hobie was ready for action and was eager to contribute his skills to the mission.
With the team assembled, they all arrived at Miguel's office, their faces filled with determination and readiness. Miguel wasted no time and began explaining the mission.
"Thank you all for coming," Miguel began. "We have a situation that requires all of your unique abilities. A dangerous criminal organization has obtained a highly advanced piece of technology that could wreak havoc on the city. Our mission is to infiltrate their hideout, neutralize the threat, and retrieve the technology."
As Miguel laid out the plan, he highlighted how each member's special talents would be crucial for the success of the mission. He emphasized (y/n)'s ability to gather valuable intel, Miles' agility for reconnaissance, Gwen's scientific expertise to handle the technology, Pavitr's combat skills for confrontation, and Hobie's knowledge of stealth and technology to disable security systems.
Each member nodded in understanding, fully aware of the gravity of the mission and the responsibility that rested on their shoulders. Their unwavering commitment to protecting the city and its inhabitants fueled their determination to succeed.
Miguel concluded, "This won't be easy, and it won't be without risks. But I believe in each and every one of you. Together, we can take down this organization and keep our city safe."
With newfound determination in their hearts, the team prepared for the mission ahead. They knew that this mission would test their limits, but they also knew that their bond as a team and their unique talents would give them the edge they needed to prevail.
As they headed out into the night, a sense of camaraderie filled the air. They were not just a team; they were a family, united by their commitment to protect the city they loved. Their journey had just begun, and they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that together, they were unstoppable.
•••
Inside the dimly lit building, the team found themselves facing a group of guards standing watch near a heavily secured door. Gwen assessed the situation with a furrowed brow, knowing they needed a distraction to get past the guards without alerting others inside.
"We need to get past those guards without raising awareness to the others that may be inside," Gwen said, her mind working quickly to devise a plan.
Miles nodded in agreement. "So basically, someone needs to distract them," he added.
Pavitr hesitated for a moment before speaking up, "Well, it can't be me."
"Why not?" Gwen asked, placing a hand on her hip.
Hobie chimed in with a smirk, "Cause those bloody guards are men, and in case you haven't noticed it, love, so are us three.... That leaves you and (y/n)."
Gwen turned to (y/n) with a knowing look, and a determined glint appeared in (y/n)'s eyes. "Oh hell yeah, I've been waiting for this," she said with a confident grin.
Gwen nodded in approval. "Alright, (y/n), you're up. Time to work your magic."
The plan was set, and the team positioned themselves strategically, preparing to execute their diversion. Miles, Gwen, and Hobie took cover, blending into the shadows while keeping a close eye on the guards. Meanwhile, (y/n) took a deep breath, her heart pounding with adrenaline.
Moving with grace and confidence, (y/n) sauntered out into the open, catching the guards' attention. Her confident demeanor drew their focus away from the others, and they turned their gaze towards her, intrigued by the sudden appearance of an unexpected guest.
"Hey there, handsome," (y/n) purred, putting on an enchanting smile as she approached the guards.
Miles watched in awe as (y/n) effortlessly captivated the guards with her charm. Gwen and Hobie exchanged impressed glances, realizing they had made the right choice. (y/n)'s ability to connect with people and disarm them with her charisma was truly remarkable.
As (y/n) engaged the guards in conversation, she skillfully weaved her way through the questions they threw her way. While she had their full attention, Miles, Gwen, and Hobie quietly moved past, making their way closer to the heavily guarded door.
Gwen skillfully disabled the security system with her scientific expertise, while Hobie kept an eye out for any unexpected threats that might be lurking nearby. Meanwhile, Miles used his stealth to scout the area for any additional guards that might pose a risk.
(y/n) continued to hold the guards' attention, making light conversation as she skillfully steered them away from the entrance. Her wit and charm kept them captivated, and she didn't miss a beat, subtly leading them further from the team's location.
All was well, up until Hobie accidentally knocked something over. “Oops”
As Hobie accidentally knocked over a loose metal crate while trying to maintain his balance, the loud clatter echoed through the otherwise silent corridor. The guards' eyes shot towards the source of the noise, and their suspicions were immediately aroused. They had been trained to be alert and vigilant, and the sudden noise was enough to trigger their instincts.
Gwen, Miles, and Pavitr quickly took cover, preparing for a confrontation. However, (y/n) remained unfazed, as if the unexpected turn of events had simply become part of the choreography. Her heart raced with adrenaline, the thrill of the impending challenge fueling her spirit.
As the guards rushed towards the team, (y/n) sprang into action, moving with a fluid grace that was almost hypnotic. She twisted and swayed like a tango dancer, her movements calculated yet mesmerizing, effortlessly evading the guards' advances.
With a swift and elegant spin, she ducked under the first guard's attempted punch, her body twisting gracefully as she slid behind him. Before he could react, (y/n) delivered a swift and precise kick to the back of his knee, causing him to buckle and collapse to the ground.
“Oh my god!” Pavitr says watching (y/n)’s every move. “Oh my god she’s doing the thing!”
“What thing?” miles asks.
“That thing from that movie! You know the fight scene thing! She’s fighting those guards and dancing!”
Her every movement was like a dance, each step flowing seamlessly into the next. As the second guard lunged towards her, (y/n) stepped to the side, seamlessly guiding his momentum to miss her entirely. Her movements were as fluid as the steps of a tango, each one calculated and harmoniously connected.
In one swift motion, she reached out and grabbed the guard's arm, twisting it behind his back with such precision that he could do nothing but follow her lead. The two moved in perfect synchronization, their bodies dancing in harmony with the rhythm of the fight.
As the dance of combat continued, (y/n) used her agility to her advantage, effortlessly evading the guard's strikes and retaliating with her own well-timed moves. Every punch and kick were executed with the grace and precision of a dancer, leaving the guard bewildered and off-balance.
With a final flourish, (y/n) sent the guard spinning away, leaving him sprawled on the ground, disarmed and defeated. She stood tall, her chest heaving with adrenaline, a triumphant smile on her lips.
“Yessssss Queen!” Pavitr screams out jumping up and down in excitement only to be stopped and hit on the shoulder by Hobie.
“Sorry,” he whispers having noticed just how loud he was being.
The team watched in awe, realizing they were witnessing something extraordinary. (y/n)'s unique fighting style was a breathtaking display of skill and artistry, blending the grace of a dancer with the precision of a master martial artist.
As the echoes of the fight dance scene subsided, (y/n) turned to her teammates, a spark of excitement in her eyes. "Shall we keep going?" she asked, her voice laced with confidence.
Gwen, Miles, and Pavitr exchanged glances, reinvigorated by (y/n)'s energy. Together, they stood ready to face any challenge that lay ahead, knowing that with their collective talents and (y/n)'s extraordinary dance of combat, they were an unstoppable force.
With renewed determination, the team pressed on, knowing that the mission was far from over. But in that moment, they felt a deeper connection than ever before, united not only by their shared purpose but also by the unique bond they had forged through the artistry of their fight dance scene.

If you let me show you (Charles Leclerc)
Years later, your's and Charles' hearts are still longing for eachother and, perhaps, it was meant to be all along
Note: english is not my first language.
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated, and while I'm not actively taking requests, I am writing some blurbs when I can so if you have any ideas or concepts that can be written in a small amount of sentences and you want to share, feel free to do so!
Tw: past breakup
"As usual, thank you for listening to the podcast", you began closing off the recording for you newest episode of your podcast, taking your headphones off once you were done and your editor gave you her thumbs up, "That was really good, Y/N. I think people will enjoy it a lot", she said as you smiled, proud of how far you got. The idea of creating your own podcast while you finished your degree was just something to keep your mind off of school, despite it being about what you studied since it was something you enjoyed, but it had quickly grown to join other people who, like you, enjoyed the topic. You had gathered a small community that you were very grateful for, especially when it allowed to go to bigger events like TedTalks and sit and talk, as well as meeting them.
Checking your phone for your e-mails, you noticed a new one from someone you had never received anything from before, "what is this...?", you muttered under your breath before letting your finger tap the screen to open it, revealing what looked like an invite to an event, looking at the top to see that you had been sent it a few days ago and, scrolling down, finding out that you had to confirm your attendance until that afternoon, "did you get this?", you showed it to your editor, "nope, but I've heard of other people who come here to record that they've been invited too", she smiled. "Are you plann-", she was interrupted by the sound of your phone ringing, an unknown number calling, "yes?", you said, "Hi, this is from Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco. How have you been, Y/N?", a seemingly kind man on the other side of the line, "Hello, I've been good, and you?", you said as you looked at your editor, "sorry to bother you during the day, but we've had some issues with our communication channels and are not receiving the confirmation from the people who are attending, and we just wanted to confirm wether or not you are joining us for the evening", he said as you panicked opened the e-mail again, checking for more details about this event, "Oh, you're also allowed a plus one, I don't think your e-mail said that due to the glitch we had", he offered as you looked at your editor one last time, her showing you a dinner she had with family on that night, "yes, I can confirm my presence. Just me, no plus one", you said as you heard him type, "Good, thank you! Since our communication channels are not working properly, is it okay if, in case of any new information, I contact you through here?", he asked before you confirmed, bidding eachother a good day and goodbye before ending the call, "this is a very surreal thing", you heard your editor said, now propped by your laptop as she look at the e-mail, telling you all about why they had decided to invite you, your contribution to spreading scientific knowledge in a simple way and accessible to everyone bring the number one reason, "who knew, hm? My weird little podcast about academia getting me t-, oh, wait, this is a red carpet?", you looked further, noticing their dress code advice section, "what did you expect from the Fondation? Some burgers and fries?", she teased you, "I thought it was, like, an intimate thing, small thing. If I'm going to this, who else is?", you mused while your editor only snickered.
.
After having your friend help you pick a dress worthy of the event, you dropped it at the dry cleaners, which is where you found yourself in the morning of the event, ready to pick it up while the lovely lady went to get it outback when a younger employee asked "I'm sorry, but you are Y/N, from the podcast, right?", she asked as you nodded, "I've heard your voice through these so many times I recognised it almost immediately", she said as she pointed to her earbuds, "I'm very happy that you listen to it", you said as you noticed your dress, clean and ironed being set on the counter, "may I ask what this is for?", she said curiously before who you figured was her grandmother set the bill for you too, "dear, that's not nice for the costumers, sorry about my granddaughter", she half scolded her, "no, don't worry. I'm going to an event tonight because of the podcast", you explained as you paid, smiling before leaving the store and bidding goodbye.
Arriving at home, you tried your best to remember and replicate how Pascale taught you to do your hair, the curls coming out looking like you were from a different era, silently praying they would drop while you fid your makeup. You put one the dress and added your accessories before shaking your curls, moving to put on your shoes and coat just in time for the car they had sent to pick you up and go to the event, "is this your first time?", the driver asked, "yes. Do you notice it that much?", you giggled, "not at all. Just I know I would have recognised you otherwise", he explained, "do you know anyone who is going to be there? It is a big help, so I've heard over the years", he offered, "I don't think so", you mused, "I'm not sure who's invited to be honest", you giggled again, nervous that you should have done your research, "usually actresses and actors, singers too usually, people from non profits, other members of TV shows. Oh, and how could I forget, some drivers usually go too", and it hit you. How did it not hit you before? Charles could be there too, and you not seen him in person in the longest time. Last time you saw him was a few months after you broke up, and it pained you to be in the same room as him, and while you did nothing but be polite to eachother, you couldn't deal with that, somehow always managing to avoid any gathering where he would be. Did you watch his races? Yes, every weekend one had been on you'd take your time no watch it, never breaking your promise and supporting him whenever you could, however you could. Knowing how it would bother you stayed out of anything related to his personal life, only knowing little bits you picked up from interviews and, since he was pretty private, there hadn't been anything related to his relationships, so were you about to know something more? Was he bringing a plus one with him? "Don't need to get nervous, dear, from all my years of this, people are usually very friendly and before you know it, you're already friends", he smiled sweetly, oblivious to the actual relationship you were worried about.
A woman dressed in black guided you on what to to once you arrived, telling you when to stop and pose for some pictures, despite your insistence that 'I'm here for my voice, I don't think people will need to see my face really", giggling and comforting you until you felt comfortable enough, "See?! Stunning, chérie", she smiled before her phone beeped, prompting her to tell her colleague, "Charles is arriving just now, could you go to him, please?", before helping you to the other spot where you would do an interview with someone who also had a podcast that, despite being a bigger creator, treated you with the utmost kindness, "thank you so much for taking some time and giving us your story on getting to where you are today", he said as you shook his hand one last time, thanking him before walking back to the carpet, spotting Charles posing too. And then your heart started doing somersaults, almost like it never stopped doing then anyway.
Charles followed the woman in a black suit as she told him where to stand, smiling in almost all the directions someone called him from before he noticed you, sitting in a high chair with a pair of headphones on your head. Were you here? Your podcast was successful, he knew that much since he contributed, but he did not expect you to be here. How long had it been? Two, maybe three years? You had managed to go to his F2 celebration, just as friends, before, as he now recalled, never setting his eyes on you in another form other than pictures on Instagram or your voice from the podcast episodes.
He was about to head to you when a young fan, who happened to be attending with his parents, asked for his autograph and a picture, "whenever we are home, me and mama and papa watch all your races, you're one of Monaco's pride!", the boy who was no older than ten said excitedly, prompting Charles to open his blazer's button before crouching down to pose with him. Getting up and wishing everyone a good night and event, his eyes looked for you in your emerald green dress, now finding a gentleman in the chair you were sitting previously. Heading inside the venue, he greeted some people before he noticed you looking at something on your phone and confirming it on the indicating plaques, looking a but confused before you looked around and your eyes locked in his, "h- Hi, Charles, Hi!", you said as you greeted him, your movement so automatic that you didn't even think about hugging and pressing a kiss on each cheek of your ex-boyfriend, thankful that he seemed to want to do the same, "Hi, Y/N, how are you?", he said as he looked at you properly. And you looked even more beautiful, despite looking like the same girl he had fallen in love with all those years ago."Are you here alone, too?", you said and immediately wanted to take it back, feeling like you had nothing to do with it, "I'm on my own, yes. C'mon, let's go through here", he said as he guided you on the other way you were thinking of going, leading you to the big room where all the tables were and finding out that the table you'd be sitting in was next to his, "if you need anything, call for me, yes?", he said as he looked for reassurance, "you're going to do great, I just know it".
The evening was beautiful, getting the opportunity to listen to all the projects and ideas people were developing and over all having a good time, and while you enjoyed it, you needed to get some air, excusing yourself from the group and heading to one of the outside gardens, a glass in hand as you took in all that had happened for you to get here. You had never dreamt of this opportunity to come from something as simple as you sharing your thoughts outloud, finding people on the receiving end interested in what you had to say, and to be here was something you still couldn't make out, "may I?", you heard a familiar voice you could recognise anywhere, seeing Charles coming to sit next to you on the stone bench, "it's amazing how many inspiring people are here today, no?", he began, really not knowing how to approach you. You were here alone, so it wasn't like he was crossing a line, he hoped, remembering some conversations he heard in the last group gathering where one of your close friends admitted that you were single still, "and somehow I ended up here, too", you mused before looking at him, his eyes never failing to calm you down and rile your heart up at the same time, "of course you did. Your work is amazing, it's only fair they recognised it", he let slip, "how do you know that?", you quirked your brow as you took a sip from your glass, "I listen to it. Every Thursday I go and look for the new episode", he admitted, "I still don't understand half of the things you defend and explain, but you make it so engaging and, and I miss your voice. I miss you", he said as he looked up at the starry sky before he let his hand crawl along the light stone and nudge yours, your pinkies lacing eachother. You looked at him, a small blush on your cheeks, "thank you, I- I watch all your races too, even the ones that are broadcasted at daft o'clock in Europe", you said before sighing "you know why we did it that way it was", you said, remembering the day you and Charles decided it was for the best that you should go your separate ways.
"I love you so much", Charles said as he held your hands in his, "I love you so much and it is why I think we should do this", he reasoned, although the tears in his eyes, matching your own, reflected the genuine hurt you both knew was dawning on each of you, "I never want to be the one making you hurt, not in a short time or not in a long time", you sniffed, squeezing your eyes further to slow down the tears, "I love you with my whole heart and I'd never want you to hurt, either of us to hurt", you finished as you gave him one last hug, relishing in the feeling of having his arms around you, "you'll always have my heart, Y/N Y/L/N", he said kissing the top of your head, "and it will always be yours to keep".
"Was it really though?", he said, snuffling closer to you while still not touching you more than before even though his skin longed to feel yours, "I don't know, Charles, I really don't know", you said. You didn't like to admit it, but every now and again, you would entertain the thought of what could have been if you had stayed together. How your days could have been if you had him to come home to, or having to travel to races to see him, hear his laughs in person instead of through a screen. It would have been like you had predicted, crazy schedules, long periods away from eachother, but the effort to make it work would have been worth it to have him with you. As you were about to say that to him, you heard heels clicking on the floor, "sorry to interrupt, but the fireworks are going to go off now, I thought you might like to see them", one of the ladies that had helped you in the red carpet said as you both got up, "thanks for letting us know, we'll be up shortly", Charles offered before she walked away while you two followed her, "Would you be willing to come to my place tomorrow?", he asked as he finally laced his fingers in yours for a few seconds, parting when you reached the door, "okay", you said before you were ushered to different places in the crowd.
Arriving home later that evening, you were taking all your makeup off when your phone pinged, seeing a text from Charles, surprised that after all these years he, like you, had kept your number, "Even though we did not spend that much time together today, I know for a fact that I missed having you around and being near you. I hope you have a goodnight's rest", could be read on your screen.
.
"Thank you for coming here. I would've gone to your place but I didn't know if you wanted me there, and besides, I don't want all the attention that it could draw that way around to you", he said nervously, "No need to rub it in that you're more famous than me, Charles", you teased slightly, wanting to clear up the tension in the room that your nerves were not exactly helping, "I mean it. Thank you for agreeing to come and talk", he said before taking a big breath, "yesterday sparked something in me, and I'm not sure it was a spark again moment, I think this has always been here", he admitted, looking qt you in the hopes of getting you to speak about your take on it, "I-, I felt the same", you gulped, "but can we do this? I think so b-", you were interrupted by him, "all those years ago, we said we wanted to focus on our careers, grow and not have to worry about it. And, while I think it could've been good, there's no way to know that the success we have it due to that. Can you imagine having me next to you on your graduation? Signing your contracts? Because every weekend I imagine you sitting in that hospitality, working on your laptop before coming to watch me race and congratulate me, or be the only person in my driver's room to calm me down after a bad race", he admitted, "I know you don't owe me any of that and if this is one sided then I don't want to make you feel guilty about it, but I needed to let you know", he finished as he looked at you. Sighing, you launched your hand to meet his, "I miss you, and I want to have you with me, to get home and see you there, even if it is only every now and then. But I don't want you to feel guilty that you're not here, or that I feel like I'm not enough", you said and he giggled, "Mon ange, you are more than enough. And I'll be the luckiest man alive if you let me have you in my life again. We'll take things slowly, but please, let us go back to how we were", he pleaded as he saw you smile, "mon coeur, we are going to be better than ever".

Ahhh since venting is allowed i have been wondering this for few months
Why do adults autistics ALWAYS ( maybe not always, most of the time ) shame people who don't up ?
For example those who have scientific interests, who are really good at math and loves it, who are not afraid of speaking of what the belive in even if it means that they may loose people around them, those who are won't go crazy mad if they got called childish ( come on, who decided that being childish is even an insult ? ) ...etc
And i can put it in other words : people who won't hide who they really are just to take apart of the society who never thought of them as real people and have "friends" just not to be lonely
Listen, i understand that they do it because of the harsh struggles they go through, and so does all autistics.
But what i'm trying to say is, why must they shame people who don't want to mask ? Like yeah, i knew i was going to get hated for the things i said when my teacher asked and i didn't hestate to say what i thought of honestly, i'm not an idiot, i'm aware of what will that cause me
i just prefer being honest to myself because the hell everyone see me as dump for not understanding their cummon sense, everyone including those who were supposed to understand how each of us feels shamed me for "sterotyping autistics".
Why should I mask myself up just to please them while the only person who loved and tried to do their best to get me to be better, aka me, will be thrown away behind that fake mask ?
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk ( autism memes aside, seriousily guys, stop this)
hi 👋🏼
i understand what you’re saying and it can be incredibly frustrating especially when you’re being put down by your own community
i have come across some autistics who judge other autistics based on whether or not they choose to mask
i think whenever they have a negative attitude towards non-masking, it’s mainly just internalized ableism (manifesting in shame) that they’re projecting onto other autistic people
i have also had some problems with “reinforcing stereotypes” about autistic people while non-masking before. whether that be from me hand-flapping, wearing headphones, having trouble verbally communicating, or something else
considering the generalizations, and thus stereotypes, that have arose from these decently common autistic behaviors, it can sometimes make me want to mask these behaviors to prove some type of mislead point that “we don’t all act that way!”
this mindset took a while for me to dismantle as i had to come to terms with the fact that showcasing my autistic traits isn’t a bad thing, and being “stereotypical” isn’t either
however, i do think that there are many factors that can contribute to people who mask—especially when they feel as if they have no other choice—but i do also think that people shouldn’t project the negative feelings they might have towards people who don’t mask, and vice versa
overall, it’s a complicated topic with many causes and many reasons, but it’s important to support our fellow autistics into doing whatever is best for them (whether that be masking or not masking) rather than shame one-another (edit: not saying you’re shaming anyone, i’m talking about in general with the autistic community)

I'm tired of drawing giraffes, but fortunately, I only have one more left to finish. After that, I'm excited to move on to drawing the Okapi, and once the family will be complete. Awesome!
Angolan Giraffe
The Angolan Giraffe, also known as the Namibian Giraffe, is native to southern Africa, specifically Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Angola. These giraffes have a unique coat pattern with irregular rusty brown patches on a whitish or light beige skin. Males have a distinctive bulk in the forefront.
There have been studies suggesting that the two surviving populations, one in the north and one in the south, may be different subspecies, but this conclusion has not yet been universally accepted within the scientific community. The distinction between giraffe species and subspecies as a whole is not yet fully clear. _______________________________________ Credits: Angolan Giraffe Photo Credits: Zdeněk Hašek ________________________________________ Thank you for your support. Origins of Plurality and Levels of Dissociation Study
Thank you so much to everyone who participated. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
It is likely that we will do a follow-up survey that will study the details of the differences in the internal experiences of traumagenic and endogenic systems.
Tumblr media
Important Notes: We are not professional researchers. This is not a substitute for professional research. We are trying to fill in the lack of professional research with our own as a temporary solution.
This study cannot with certainty prove or disprove the existence of plurality formed from sources other than trauma. This was an attempt to gain insight into the situation through looking at how DES scores compare between different origins.
The DES is not a diagnostic tool, but it can aid in receiving a diagnosis. This survey is only to track any potential differences in scores between different self identified origins of plurality and what that may mean.
Terminology used in this study:
Plurality- The experience of being or having more than one self-aware entity within a single body. Plurality is a spectrum of many different experiences.
Traumagenic- Plurality that is attributed to trauma. This often includes the diagnoses Dissociative Identity Disorder and Other Specified Dissociative Disorder 1. While all DID and OSDD 1 is caused by trauma, trauma may not be the origin of the system itself.
Endogenic- Plurality that exists for reasons not related to trauma.
Quoigenic- The origins are unknown or unspecified.
Parogenic/willogenic- Plurality that was created intentionally through an imaginative process. It is also known as tulpamancy.
Metagenic/Spirigenic- Plurality that is attributed to a spiritual cause.
Neurogenic- Plurality that is caused by a mental condition other than DID/OSDD 1.
Mixed Origins- Plurality that has more than one cause.
Introduction
Plurality is the experience of being or having more than one self-aware entity within a single body. What these entities are varies. This can include, but is not limited to: having dissociated parts, multiple selves, facets, and sharing a body with others. Plurality is a label that one can choose to identify themselves as if they feel like it fits them. People diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder or Otherwise Specified Dissociative Disorder 1 often (but not always) identify as plural or multiple. These disorders are known to be caused by dissociation from trauma, and are currently the only scientifically acknowledged examples of plurality.
Some claim to experience plurality that is not based in trauma and pathological dissociation and is not disordered. There are many reported causes of this within the plural community, but there is little research done on it. We conducted this survey to determine if self identified origins had any correlation to levels of dissociation.
Dissociation is an involuntary mental process that creates a failure to fully integrate information. It creates a sense of disconnection between the self and the dissociated material. Pathological levels of dissociation often occur as a way to cope with overwhelming stress.
According to the DSM-5, “Dissociative disorders are characterized by a disruption of and/or discontinuity in the normal integration of consciousness, memory, identity, emotion, perception, body representation, motor control, and behavior.”(1)
Pathological levels of dissociation are heavily linked to trauma, meaning that plurals who report a non-traumagenic origin and show lower levels of dissociation than seen in DID or OSDD 1 may indicate the possibility of plurality having more than one cause.
Background
The existence of plurality outside of trauma based dissociation is widely debated within the community, largely due to the absence of evidence for such a thing. The most clinically acknowledged origin of plurality is based in the theory of structural dissociation of the personality. This theory states that we all have separate self states or parts of the personality. During childhood, these parts merge into one more unified whole at around 6-9 years of age. Trauma can disrupt this process and prevent these parts from merging. In DID and OSDD 1, these parts become so separate that they often develop their own sense of self. This is an adaptive mechanism to better survive in a scary and unpredictable environment. These dissociated parts contain different experiences and responses in order to prevent the trauma from being too overwhelming.
We would like to clarify that if someone reports their plurality having non-traumagenic origins, it does not mean that they have never experienced trauma or dissociation. It means that they believe their plurality did not originate from their trauma.
Method
We conducted a community survey to gather data on self identified origins and their levels of dissociation. We collected responses from various online plural communities, such as those on Reddit, Tumblr, and forums. The survey was started on Dec. 1st, 2021 and closed around February 7th, 2022 once we received 400 responses. One response turned out to be a duplicate.
We collected DES scores from the DES II, as well as some other information that may provide insight, such as diagnosis. We collected no identifying information from this survey.
Everyone had the option to select more than one origin. The four primary groups we are focusing on are endogenic, traumagenic, quoigenic, and mixed endogenic and traumagenic origins. We will primarily be focusing on the differences between those who selected traumagenic and those who did not.
Endogenic systems can have mixed origins, but for the mixed origins we are primarily focusing on those who have both traumagenic and endogenic origins. Those who have mixed endogenic origins are sorted as endogenic instead of mixed origins to simplify our results. This is not to erase or simplify their experiences as mixed origin, it is to simplify our data to make it easier to work with. We counted many things, such as tulpamancy, under the endogenic label to simplify our results.
We received other responses from people who either didn’t fit one of these labels or felt the need to specify further. We tried our best to work with this data by matching it up to one of the broader categories we listed, because we didn’t know what else to do with some of these responses. We hope this doesn’t offend anyone.
Makeup Of The Respondents
Tumblr media
Most respondents were traumagenic, and most of those traumagenic respondents (59.70%) were not of mixed origin.
We also found that those who selected an endogenic origin were more likely to pick more than one origin. This is partly be because we listed endogenic as an origin, along with several endogenic origins.
Diagnosis and Treatment
We wanted to measure how much of our respondents have DID or OSDD 1, since the term traumagenic is not synonymous with DID and OSDD 1(2). It is a common misunderstanding that they mean the same thing.
Tumblr media
Only 40.5% of respondents reported that they have been diagnosed with DID or OSDD 1, or believe they would qualify for a diagnosis based on the criteria. We expected this number to be higher.
The amount who said yes is less than those who reported being traumagenic. Those who reported being traumagenic only were the most likely to say yes. Some of those who reported being traumagenic only responded with maybe and rarely no, but never with no longer fitting the criteria.
Those who had traumagenic and endogenic origins were more likely to respond with something other than yes, but still said yes more often than the endogenic and quoigenic groups.
Those who were endogenic were the most likely to say no out of all the groups.
Treatment and how well it is progressing can affect DES scores. We also wanted to gauge how many respondents were in treatment or felt they needed treatment for DID or OSDD.
Tumblr media
The amount currently in therapy was surprisingly low. Only 7% report being in treatment for symptoms of DID and OSDD 1 and that it is going well.
8.3% selected other. Their answers included various situations such as starting treatment soon, therapists not being understanding, being in therapy for things other than DID/OSDD 1, being in therapy for trauma and dissociation but not DID, and not trusting therapists.
Unsurprisingly, those who selected an endogenic origin were much more likely to report that they do not need treatment. Almost all of them answered that they did not need treatment. Three respondents said that they are in therapy, but they are undiagnosed. It is unclear if they are seeking a diagnosis of DID or OSDD.
The quoigenic group (excluding mixed origins) was the second mostly likely to say that they did not need treatment.
DES Scoring
We will first go over general statistics, and then we will go over the data based on specific origins.
Tumblr media
The majority of respondents either have not taken the DES before this survey or were unsure if they had.
Tumblr media
This is how the respondents scored on the DES. We didn’t think many would score above 70, but we were incorrect in our judgment.
Tumblr media
Most (64.6%) were surprised by their score. This is likely because most respondents have never taken the test before. 12.3% were very surprised by their score.
Tumblr media
Almost half (45%) expected their score to be lower, but only 7.5% expected their score to be higher.
DES Scores Compared to Origins
The survey was started during the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2021 and was finished in early 2022. The COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing, long term, collective trauma. There is a strong link between stress, trauma, and dissociation. The scores we received for all of the groups are most likely influenced by the current world events at varying levels. There may be other factors for the scores we received. We cannot determine exactly why these scores are so much higher with certainty.
It is also worth noting that some questions on the DES are plurality specific or could be very relatable to plurals regardless of how dissociative they are.
Traumagenic Origins Only:
Average score: 58.64
Highest score: 99.67
Lowest score: 14.29
Median score: 60
Most commonly scored range: 61-70
Tumblr media
The average DES score for DID patients is a 48, and the average for OSDD is a 36.(3) The average score we calculated for the traumagenic group, which includes both DID and OSDD, exceeds both of these averages.
We gave scores in the 80’s and 90’s their own categories to calculate the most commonly scored range due to how many scored above 70. If we had not done that, the most commonly scored range would have been 70+ for traumagenic systems.
Endogenic Origins Only:
Average: 29.21
Highest score: 70
Lowest score: 4.29
Median score: 25
Most commonly scored range: 21-30
Tumblr media
The endogenic group scored around 30 on average. They scored higher than the average person (5), but lower than the traumagenic group. Only 1% of DID patients score below 30.(4)
Mixed Traumagenic and Endogenic Origins:
Average score: 50.53
Highest score: 98.93
Lowest score: 12.5
Median score: 47.415
Most commonly scored range: 41-50
Tumblr media
Quoigenic/Unknown origins, including mixed origins:
Average: 46.85
Median: 45.333
Lowest Score: 6.79
Highest Score: 96.79
Most commonly scored range: 41-50
Tumblr media
Mixed origins here does not mean traumagenic and endogenic origins, but instead quoigenic and one or more others.
Quoigenic/Unknown origins only:
Average: 45.61
Median: 45.333
Lowest Score: 6.79
Highest Score: 86
Most commonly scored range: 41-50
Tumblr media
The last three groups are lower than the traumagenic group, but higher than the endogenic group. The average scores are still clinically significant and are higher than the recorded average for DID.
Potential flaws of the study:
Scoring. Scoring for the adolescent DES could be incorrect due to the self scoring.
We assumed that scores over 100 were from those who took the adolescent version and forgot to multiply their score by ten, divide it by 30, and move the decimal over one. We did this ourselves on those scores. Another explanation could be typos.
Self reporting. Some may be incorrect about their origins. We do trust that those who participated were honest about their identified origin(s) and their scores.
Sample size. We only collected 399 responses. Most responses were from traumagenic plurals. This left us with fewer data than we would have liked for endogenic plurals or plurals of other origins.
Conclusion
Plurality may be a phenomenon that is not exclusively caused by trauma, unlike what was previously believed about its development. Further research would help to clarify what is happening in the brains of non-traumagenic plurals. Studies on a larger scale done by more experienced researchers could potentially validate what was shown here.
This study alone cannot definitely prove the existence of plurality without trauma, but it does show that those who report having no trauma involved in their origins often experience less dissociation than those who do.

Note
Mark, thanks for your commitment and iconic contributions to this fantastic game and community. I drew my first hand in '94 and never looked back. Long time Blogatog lurker, first time questioner.
Can you elaborate on the tools and techniques you all use to gather play data and player feedback?
Surely digital platforms like Arena tell you a lot about play patterns (at least the play patterns that prevail in the formats those platforms support). Blogatog and other social platforms like Reddit tune you in to enfranchised voices, but I assume you've got an echo chamber effect to balance there...
What other play/player data collection methods (especially those that we don't know/hear about much) do you use and which do you think have been the most reliable/useful to you? I've seen and responded to a few of the web-based player surveys over the years, but those seem to appear quarterly(?) at best.
I would love to know more about this crucial side of the design process. Thanks!
There are a number of sources for data. Here are the big ones:
Play data: We get data on all sanctioned tabletop play and all digital play. Obviously, the digital play data is more in depth, but the tabletop data tends to tell us a lot about what formats/sets are popular.
Sales data: We get data on how sets are selling. This can also clue us in to what players want out of a set.
Market data: We do a lot of market research. It varies from opt in surveys which skew towards the enfranchised players to deep dives which let us see the more casual end of the spectrum. Market research lets us get more granular with what we can examine.
Social media data: There are a lot of tools these days to analyze all sorts of qualities through how the audience talks about the game.
Interactive (anecdotal) data: The public talks directly to us, so there is a lot to pick up. This is the least scientific from a data gathering standpoint.
Digital data: There is a lot of data from digital beyond just play data.
Public data: There are a lot of places where fans accumulate publicly visible data that we can see.
Miscellaneous data: There are numerous other sources we can pull data from.

SCIENCE EDUCATION NONPROFIT FUNDRAISER POST
DONATE HERE
Hey everyone, I run a science education nonprofit in Florida called Sidewalk Science Center. I created SSC back in July 2018, and to this day, host FREE sessions of science experiments, telescoping, and other forms of science outreach 3-4 days per week. We do this at playgrounds, parks, beaches, outdoor malls, and other public spaces.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The mission of SSC is to provide regular and reliable access to educational tools and resources in public spaces. As of this writing, I have personally hosted free sessions of SSC a total of 390 times, as well as more than five dozen private events for families, the Girl Scouts, schools, and other organizations. In mid-November, I saw my 50,000th visitor!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We're in the middle of our end-of-year fundraising campaign. We have a goal to raise $5,500 by December 31, 2022. These funds will cover all of our expected business operation costs for 2023. As of this writing, we have raised $1,932.54, which is 35% of our goal. This amount alone covers all of our website, email, insurance, printing, and data storage costs for 2023, plus some of our physical and online marketing costs for the upcoming year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of our larger purposes for doing this is to increase scientific visibility, literacy, and overall engagement. Science is often relegated to schools and museums, but where else do we encounter it on a day-to-day basis, actively thinking about and practicing it? By placing SSC in spaces where people already visit and congregate, we hope to help improve the interest, support, and ability in science literacy throughout all levels of society.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 2023 we will also start gathering volunteer educators to operate standard SSC sessions. We will also offer paid positions through our volunteer base, as a significant source of our revenue comes from paid private events. All educators will take our self-designed training courses that cover performing public science outreach, public science communication, and how to navigate and maintain civil discourse with pseudoscientists and misinformation in public spaces.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Going forward, we want to open regular SSC locations around the state of Florida, the US at large, and eventually, the world. Creating these spaces has been an incredible experience that truly impacts the communities we serve, and levels the playing field for underprivileged communities, allowing everyone to use resources and have experiences they otherwise might not have access to at home or even school.

Another Kristie Mewis article!! An interview from Jenna Tonelli.
thank you so much!!! for those who are lazy:
Kristie Mewis is ‘having an OK time’ at NJ/NY Gotham FC.
The USWNT midfielder and Olympic bronze medalist joined the New Jersey-based team for the 2022 season and made an immediate impact on the field. The soccer pitch isn’t the only place where Mewis is making her mark. The 31-year-old is partnering with Six Star Pro Nutrition, “The Athlete’s Choice” and a leading maker of scientifically formulated premium supplements, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the landmark ruling that forever changed American education and sport.
To honor the occasion, Six Star will give away 50 jerseys of female athletes during the month of June. For Mewis, being part of this innovative giveaway to raise the profile of female athletes is extremely meaningful.
“These past 50 years have been so influential in the women’s sports world and I think it’s an amazing step in the right direction,” Mewis told AllForXI. “I want to do anything and everything I can to help [Six Star Pro Nutrition] and to be a part of something that is so cool. It’s very, very important that we get jerseys out there and keep promoting the women’s game. It’s growing so much, and we want it to keep growing. It deserves to keep growing.”
Even now, jerseys of female athletes can be difficult to acquire. Six Star will work with winners to get the jersey of their choice, regardless of who the player is or when they played. Fans can register here to win.
The month of June also marks another occasion important to Mewis: Pride Month
“To me, Pride means being proud of who you are and, it’s so cliché, but recognizing that love is love,” Mewis said. “It’s a time where we can celebrate how far we’ve come but also recognize how much more work still needs to be done. Pride Month is a really cool way for everyone to express themselves and be who we are, but of course, we want that to be all year long.”
“We need to use our platforms as much as we possibly can to give [young fans] someone to look up to, and to be a safe space for them. I think it is super important,” Mewis said. “It has been such a great community for me to be a part of and I want to help and do whatever I can to make everyone feel really safe and really special in their own way.”
In fact, this Saturday, Gotham FC is hosting their annual Pride Night game. For Mewis, having clubs host Pride Nights is very special and a great way for everyone to feel connected, no matter how you identify.
“I think it’s just a great night to show your support and to have some fun with it,” she said. “But it’s also for the fans to see that we can be who we are so that they also feel that they can do that, too.”
Mewis is loving her time at Gotham
The Massachusetts native praised the organization for all the work they are doing behind the scenes, and is looking forward to contributing to the club’s success. “They’re really going in a great direction. I’m so excited to be a part of it and to have a future here,” she said. “The players, the staff, and head coach Scott Parkinson have been so amazing and welcoming. I feel at home here, so I’m very happy.”
Adding to that happiness was Gotham FC’s recent win over expansion side Angel City FC out in Los Angeles. With the added stress of coming off two tough losses, six hours of travel, and playing in front of nearly 20,000 fans of the opposing team, the win was even more meaningful for the club. The accomplishment has given Gotham renewed confidence.
In addition to playing for Gotham, Mewis is currently a mainstay on the U.S. Women’s National Team. She joined the squad last summer at the Tokyo Olympics and helped the team earn the bronze medal.
These recent calls-ups are not Mewis’ first brush with the USWNT. Early in her career, she earned a handful caps for the national team between 2013 and 2014, but would not be called into camp again until 2019. Now, after a career filled with twists and turns, and more years of professional soccer under her belt, she is back with the team and has seen her role evolve.
“My role has dramatically switched very quickly. When I was with the national team before, I was a young, up-and-coming kid. Nothing was really expected of me. Now I am a little bit of an older player and we have a lot of young players coming in. I have felt more of a sense [of responsibility] to be a leader, to be disciplined, and to be wise on the field. I don’t think that I have ever experienced that on the national team before. I’m trying to embrace it and be the player that the team needs as best that I can. It definitely is a shift, but I’m enjoying it,” she said, adding with a grin: “I think I’m doing an OK job!”

In honor of today being Juneteenth, I would like to commemorate the contributions that the black community has done for modern medicine :)
-James McCune Smith, MD: He was the man to start it all. He was the first black American to ever receive a medical degree in 1837. As well as being an abolitionist and a writer, Smith heavily involved himself in anti-slavery movements and edited and wrote articles revolving around the topic. His contributions to ending slavery as well as inspiring others to follow in his footsteps should not be forgotten.
-Daniel Hale Williams, MD: He was the first person to open a non-segregated black-owned hospital in 1891, and he was among one of the first ever to successfully operate open heart surgery in 1893. Two years later, he also founded the National Medical Association, one of the oldest African-American representative organizations.
-Jane Cooke Wright, MD: She was the first African-American woman to ever be titled dean associate, the highest title ever for her demographics at the time. She worked with her father as a researcher for cancer treatment. Together, they researched the effects of drugs on patients with conditions such as leukemia in order to contribute to the development of chemotherapy. After her father, unfortunately, passed away from tuberculosis in 1952, Wright was appointed the head of the Cancer Research Association. Through her extensive research using human somatic cells instead of mice, Wright evolved the use of chemotherapy as a viable way of modern treatment for cancer.
-Ben Carson, MD: He was the first person ever to successfully surgically separate the heads of conjoined twins in 1987. Additionally, he refined techniques for hemispherectomy, which helped to prevent seizures for those with severe epilepsy. As well as serving as a politician, plastic surgeon, and pediatrician, it is no secret that this man is talented and has contributed so much to the world.
-Kizzmekia S. Corbett, Ph.D.: She was one of the leading scientists to help discover the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, one of the quickest vaccine discoveries in modern-day history. With years of experience researching diseases under her belt, she is working to also find a vaccine cure for influenza.
These are only 5 of the very, very many black citizens that have contributed to making our world a better place. Thank you for all of your hard work in order to keep everyone moving forward. Happy Juneteenth. <3
here are, of course, the sources:

Amateur astronomers needed: Help classify stars with Gaia's data ESA's Gaia mission has been collecting data on millions of space objects like stars and asteroids to build an extensive cosmic record. Now, to take it up a notch, it needs your eyes. Gaia's data is already an invaluable resource for astronomers and scientists. The mission was launched in late 2013 and now lies some 1.5 million km from Earth. With its two powerful telescopes and three science instruments, Gaia is creating the largest and most precise 3D map of the Milky Way. It does so by determining the position of its target stars and registering how they change throughout time. So far, Gaia has measured 1.8 billion stars with unprecedented precision, the richest star catalog to date. Gaia's third major data release, published in 2022, includes 10.5 million variable sources over the entire sky, identified using machine learning methods in a supervised classification scheme. We have learned a great deal about the Milky Way as a whole too. Thanks to the mission, we now know our galaxy merged with another galaxy in its early life, around 10 billion years ago. We have also learned more about our neighbor galaxy, Andromeda, and how it will collide with the Milky Way billions of years from now. Though Gaia's telescopes are incredibly powerful, researchers within the mission still need the help of the oldest visual tool on the planet: your eyes. In its almost 10 years since launch, Gaia has contributed massively to our understanding of the cosmos, and now you can take part in furthering the discoveries. Within Gaia Vari, a citizen science project, you can help classify Gaia's variable stars—stars that change in brightness over time. These observations are key to better understand these celestial bodies better. As analyzing individual sources is beyond the scope of the Gaia consortium, you, as a citizen scientist will look over images and graphs to classify stars' brightness changes, colors, and other variables over time. You may also identify incorrect classifications made by the automated algorithms. This will help scientists organize and categorize what we know of the millions of stars Gaia has observed, toward the next Gaia data release in 2025. You may actually discover the most interesting stars! Do you wish to take part in a citizen science project? If the scientist in you wants to help, ESA has got you covered. From monitoring light pollution to classifying images of Mars, you can help us advance peaceful space exploration. We also hope that by opening up ESA data and tools to the public, we are improving the openness of our work, increasing citizen engagement in scientific research, and building stronger connections between science and society. To participate in the Gaia Vari project, go to Zooniverse, a platform with projects where people power the research. There's no need for you to sign in or create an account. After entering the platform, you can learn how to look at the graphs and data and classify each variable. "Gaia is deepening our understanding of the universe as we know it, and both professional and amateur astronomers have been amazed with the results analyzed so far. Now we need help from the wider amateur astronomy community to better understand how stars change throughout the years," says Pedro García Lario, Community Support Scientist at Gaia Science Operations Center.

National Farmers Day
What is Farmers Day?
Farmers Day is celebrated every year on October 12! The profession of farming began around 12,000 years ago with the domestication of livestock as hunter/gatherers settled down and started to plant their own food. In short, farming is one of the oldest jobs around. So let‘s take a moment to give some love to all the farmers who work tirelessly to feed us year round.
When is Farmers Day 2022?
Farmers Day in the U.S is observed on October 12 every year. Other countries celebrate the holiday on different days, with India and Pakistan holding large celebrations in December.
History of Farmers Day
Agriculture is one of the world’s oldest and vital professions. Farmers have remained one of the highest contributors to economic growth while consistently feeding the people who rely on their goods. Originally referred to as Old Farmer’s Day, National Farmers Day was cultivated to celebrate the hard work farmers put into growing their crops. The date of October 12 came about as it lands at the end of the traditional harvesting period, allowing farmers to participate in festivities, which can sometimes last the entirety of the month. Additionally, every three years, the Harvest Moon will fall in early October, preceding and leading up to National Farmer’s Day on the 12th.
In fact, in Loranger, Louisiana, there’s an Old Farmer’s Day Festival which celebrates and showcases the traditions and methodologies of farming before it became the modernized and scientific venture it is today. Usually, in states in the northern US, the first frost would occur in the beginning of October, if not the middle, requiring many farmers to harvest their crops beforehand to prepare for the winter. Now, because of scientific developments in farming techniques, the traditional growing period can be prolonged to increase yield and profit, part of the reasoning why National Farmer’s Day tend to extend its celebrations in rural areas to National Farmer’s Month.
Farmers Day timeline
12,000 BC ELet's settle
People began to leave their nomadic hunter gatherer lifestyle and settled down as farmers.
Mid 1600s You say you want a revolution
The British Agricultural Revolution began due to an unprecedented increase in agricultural production.
1902 The National Farmers Union was founded.
The NFU was founded in Texas by ten family farmers. The union advocated for voting rights for women, fair market access for farmers, and increased co-operative rights.
1934 Farm to table goods
Farmer's Markets began in Los Angeles as a way for farmers and merchants can sell their wares from permanent stalls.
Traditions of National Farmers Day
Thank a farmer
They’re the backbone of the breadbasket and what feeds not just this country, but many other nations as agriculture is usually a major export. Make sure you thank a farmer today for all their hard work keeping bread on tables everywhere!
Buy from a local farmer
One of the best ways to thank a farmer is with your wallet. Head to a farmer’s market or join a local CSA (community supported agriculture) to get some fresh, local produce, eggs, or even grass-fed meat.
Start a garden
Or become one yourself! Growing your own food is one of hte most sustainable and rewarding ways to celebrate National Farmer’s Day. It may have a tough learning curve to plant and grow just a few tomatoes, but the taste of tomatoes right off the vine will make it all worth it.
Stats about National Farmers Day
2 million – the number of farms in the U.S. $1 trillion – The contribution of agriculture to the US economy. 1.3% – The percentage of the U.S. labor force made up by ranchers. 90% – The percentage of U.S. crop losses caused by extreme weather 50,000 – The number of jobs available in agriculture in the U.S each year. 40% – The percentage of crop cash that is generated by corn and soybeans. 166 – The number of people the average U.S farm feeds each year. 25% – The percentage of food that Americans throw away every month.
Farmers Day FAQs
Which day is celebrated as Farmers Day?
National Farmers Day is celebrated annually on October 12 Why do we celebrate Farmers Day?
Farmers have one of the oldest and most important jobs. On October 12, we celebrate the hard work they put in year long in order to keep our economy thriving and our stomachs full! What is National Ag Day?
National Ag day was created in order to recognize all fields that fall under the agricultural category. This day is celebrated annually on March 14.
Farmers Day Activities
Go to a farmers market
Start your own mini-farm
Earn your stripes with a farmer's tan
Support your local farmers by shopping at the local Farmer's Market. Keep in mind that by shopping with small businesses, you are helping an entrepreneur provide for their family or expand their business. America has a history of family farming and your support helps keep their dreams alive.
According to one of the top Kansas City PR Firms, only 2% of Americans grow their own food. What better way to celebrate National Farmers Day than to become your own farmer? Think how awesome would it be if your favorite fruits or veggies were growing in your backyard. Don't have a yard? No Problem. Many neighborhoods have community gardens where you can test out your green thumb.
We're not saying to throw out your sun block, but it might be fun to show solidarity with your local farmers by sporting your own t-shirt tan! Enjoy the sunny day outdoors and learn the true meaning of a Farmer's Tan.
Why We Love Farmers Day
Farmers perform one of the world's oldest jobs
They grow our food
Farmers are dedicated, hard workers
Farming developed independently all over the globe, whether is was farming rice, wheat, bananas, shrimp, or almonds, farmers are working tirelessly all over the globe to feed the world.
It is hard to imagine a world without having access to fruits and vegetables. Fortunately, there is a group of professionals that dedicate themselves to growing the perfect produce. Farmer's play a vital role in our society by providing us with the luxury of purchasing fruit and vegetables at any given time.
Deciding to be a farmer is a decision that not many take lightly. Creating a farm requires investment, tons of hard work, equipment, time and a passion for growing food.

The Role of Mosquitoes in Ecosystems: Balancing Nature and Public Health
Mosquitoes are often viewed as annoying and dangerous due to their role in spreading diseases such as malaria, dengue, and Zika. However, they do play a role in ecosystems and the environment. Let's take a look at their ecological role, the reasons they might have evolved, and how to combat them without harming the environment.
Ecological Role of Mosquitoes
1. Food Source: Mosquitoes larvae are a food source for fish and other aquatic animals in freshwater ecosystems. Adult mosquitoes are also prey for birds, bats, and other insectivores.
2. Pollinators: While mosquitoes are known for feeding on blood, only females do this for reproductive purposes. Both male and females mosquitoes primarily feed on nectar and plant juices, helping with pollination. Some plant species particularly in tropical regions, rely on mosquitoes for pollination.
3. Nutrient Cycling: Mosquito larvae play a role in nutrient cycling in aquatic environments. As they feed on organic matter in the water, they contribute to the breakdown of organic materials, which can promote plant growth.
Why Mosquitoes Were Created (or Evolved)
From a scientific perspective mosquitoes evolved as part of Earth's biodiversity. Like all living organisms they evolved to fill specific niches and interact with other species with ecosystems. While their presence can be problematic for humans due to disease transmission, they are part of the complex web of life playing a role in food chains and ecosysten dynamics.
How to Combat Mosquitoes Without Harming the Environment
1. Natural Predators: Encourage the presence of natural predators like bats, birds, dragonflies, and certain fish species. Providing habitats for these predators can help reduce mosquito populations.
2. Eliminate Breeding Grounds: Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Removing stagnant water from flower pots, bird baths, tires, and other containers can reduce their breeding sites.
3. Biological Controls: Some bacteria like Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTI), target mosquito larvae but are harmless to other organisms. BTI can be used in ponds or other areas with standing water to reduce mosquito populations.
4. Mosquito-Repellent Plants: Planting mosquito-repellent plants such as citronella, lavender, and marigolds can help deter mosquitoes from your garden or outdoor spaces.
5. Natural Repellents: Use natural mosquito repellents such as essential oils from citronella, eucalyptus, or lemongrass, to ward off mosquitoes without harming the environment.
6. Traps and Barriers: Consider using mosquito traps that attract and capture mosquitoes without harmful chemicals. Additionally, using mosquito nets and screens on windows and doors can prevent mosquitoes from entering living space.
7. Education and Awareness: Raising awareness about mosquito-borne diseases and effective prevention methods can help communities combat mosquito-related problems without resorting to harmful chemicals.
By combining these methods, you can reduce mosquito populations and their impact on human health while maintaining a healthy and balanced environment.
Thank you for reading. Until next time, salamat and see you soon!

Incomprehensible AI images in scientific paper justify our worst fears | Creative Bloq
There are several concerning aspects of generative AI, and AI image generation in particular. There's the potential impact on creative jobs, and the fear that human creative work as we know it may cease to exist to be replaced with a nightmarish jumble of poor-quality content deemed 'good enough'. And then there's the fear of a complete collapse of human knowledge and science as it becomes impossible to know what to believe because so much material is nonsense made up by AI. One place where AI imagery would never pass muster, of course, is in a scientific article. Scientific work is peer reviewed to ensure its validity, so a journal would never be able to print a paper full of obvious AI-generated nonsense, right? Only that's what's just happened (see our pick of the best AI image generators if you want to create your own phoney paper).
As pointed out by a member of the public on X, a now-retracted study published in the supposedly peer-reviewed Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology featured images that can immediately identified as the work of AI. There are vaguely 'sciency-looking' diagrams labelled with nonsense words. Oh, and then there's the impossibly well-endowed rat. The authors of the paper were actually quite honest about the use of AI, crediting the images to Midjourney. Incredibly, the journal still published the piece. "This actually demonstrates that peer reviews are useless, and only contributes to the growing distrust of the scientific community," one person pointed out on X. "Lack of scrutiny like this does incalculable harm to the public's trust in science, particularly at a time in which certain political forces are actively stoking such concerns," someone else added. Perhaps even more outrageously, the journal tried to spin the failure of its peer review system into evidence of the merits of community-driven open science. "We thank the readers for their scrutiny of our articles: when we get it wrong, the crowdsourcing dynamic of open science means that community feedback helps us to quickly correct the record," the publication responded on X. Such disasters will have many people wondering what the objective of generative AI is. This is not the objective, but the fact is that the technology is going to be, and already is, everywhere, including places where it really shouldn't be, like in Uber Eats menu images.
