Sons vs Daughters in Dragonball Z

If you have read my dbz posts, you will know that Gohan and Future Trunks are my fav characters. I also love their fathers, despite how much I may criticize Goku as a father. In my Gohan post, I mentioned that the Saiyan girls did not deliver. The girls who were born later in general do not really amount to anything besides Pan (she was still kind of disappointing).

It came to mind a few days ago that the sons and daughters in dbz signify different things in dragonball which I find very problematic. Notice who has daughters and when those daughters were born. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Krillin to be specific.

First let's look at Goku. Goku is the main fighter, the most powerful. He has TWO SONS. Gohan especially was powerful and was a key fighter in all the battles in dbz. The Cell saga ended with Gohan as the most powerful fighter. The second son Goten is also special (less than Gohan though). He's the youngest super saiyan by the end of dbz and he's very talented. Most of his training came from Chi Chi based on the anime. He got a little bit of advanced training from Gohan and he had a fighting partner in Trunks. Despite this disadvantage, Goten is able to keep up with Trunks even though Trunks trained with Vegeta for most of his life (you bet Trunks was training from the moment he could walk). Like it or not, sons represent power and legacy and Goku had 2 strong sons who played major roles in battles in dbz. The main character has no daughters.

Vegeta has Trunks who was born around the climax of Vegeta's arc as a fighter. When he had his son, Vegeta was the most or second most powerful fighter in the group. Future Trunks in particular is special because he was basically the savior in the android saga. Without him, the future was doomed. He was a capable fighter as well and his iconic status is well deserved. If there is one reason to like Vegeta, it is the existence of Future Trunks.

Now you have the daughters. These girls were born in times of peace: Bulla/Bra, Marron and Pan. Plus, they were born when their fathers were reformed or had settled down. In a way, the daughters could arguably represent weakness and complacency. Vegeta is now a tame family man and has embraced Earth as his home - he gets a daughter. Krillin settles with Android 18, stops training and shaving his hair - he gets a daughter. Gohan is a scholar who basically stopped training after the Cell games - he gets a daughter. Basically when they stop being badasses/iconic characters, they have daughters. There is nothing wrong with men having daughters. But I am a bit disappointed with those in dbz. When we see Marron in GT, she's a regular girl shopping with her parents. Can she even fly? It does not look like either of her parents taught her basic defense. When Android 17 attacked, she was basically a sitting duck. Bulla is a typical spoiled rich daddy's girl. Has she trained with Vegeta? Since her energy was used as a power source for Baby I believe, maybe she has some training but there is no evidence I can recall. Pan is the only fighter and she can't even hold a candle to Kid Goten. She can't transform and she's honestly not that great. Her shirt is also a pet peeve of mine. This is the daughter of Gohan and Videl who were tough fighters in their own right in their prime. This is Goku's grandkid. If anyone has the potential to take names, it should be Pan. At least she has that fighting spirit I suppose.

This link also sends a bad message about child soldiers. The boys have to fight on the front lines and the girls are protected and sheltered. Pan is able to make the decision to be involved in the fight. Despite her go getter attitude, Pan had a lot of damsel in distress moments where Grandpa Goku had to save her. Gohan had it the worst IMO. His childhood was non-existent and then he had his teenage years without a father. At least, Trunks and Goten had an easier childhood (only one enemy when they were minors). Their mothers cuddled them and even Piccolo was reduced to babysitter with Gotenks. Wish Piccolo treated Gohan with kid gloves like that.

There's nothing special about the daughters compared to the sons. Who cares about Bulla/Bra or Marron? Pan is only interesting because she stuck her nose in matters that she had no business in. The sons are born in adversity and during heights of power and the girls in peace and prosperity.

Meeting Goku x reader headcanons!!

(It's an AU where Chi-chi doesn't meet Goku because I love my girl and I simply hate angst.)

May be ooc since it's my first time writing </3 but overall it's just Fluff!!

Okay so I've recently became a Goku simp and Dragon Ball lover, and I've noticed there's little to no works about him. Which surprised me with how popular the DB series are. Anyways we'll talk about this another time let's begin!!

To Begin, you and Goku met during the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament where you both fought.

Even though you were beaten easily, Goku was amazed to find a strong woman for the first time. He immediately fell in love. (he's too dumb to figure it out and needed Krillin's help.)

Which lead him to ask to train and spar together when you'd both be free. So like everyday.

But of course it wasn't enough interaction for our lovely saiyan so Krillin's helped his best bud having dates ideas such as going to the beach together, going on restaurants (sadly you're the one paying

You two even nap together!!

As you guys may know, this man has got no experience about what personal space means.

So don't be surprised if you get trapped in a hug randomly if you guys nap together!!

No matter how far your beds are he'll randomly find a way to stick with you.

Of course there are some days where Goku may piss you off..

For exemple, when he asks too many dumb questions that your brain just want to disconnect.

Or when you simply don't want to train yet Goku doesn't understand why since training is literally all his life so he could be overwhelming without knowing it.

So you see theses excuses we use when we're too lazy to go out with friends? That was your first thought.

You'll sick to not train since it's the only way to escape training you found yet.

With how dumb he is, you could easily avoid the senzu beans solution.

Unless someone reminds him about it... ( Either it's Krillin, Yamcha etc... )

When learning who told him about it you'll always have a grudge against them.

You'll always be able to count on Bulma though!! Since she knows how men could be such a pain.

Y'all are besties forever and goes shopping at least once in the month (She's such a generous BFF she'll pay for everything)

You both always gossip.

However, Goku hates the days when you go hang out with Bulma.

He's just so bored.. Even if he can train, nap and eat as much as he'd like which is supposed to be his favourite hobbies it won't help..

He just has the need urge to see you!!

So sometimes, when he knows where you and Bulma hangs out, he'll randomly pop up out of nowhere with the Nimbus cloud.

Disappointed, Bulma still gets the message and sometimes will leave you two alone.

"Huh leaving already Bulma? You usually stay longer!" You exclaimed confused as why she was packing up so early.

"Sorry n/n! I just remembered I have a special meeting with some scientists!! Here's the money to pay for the addition. See ya!!" Bulma said in a rush as she left too much money on the table.

"Hold on Bulma you-" You were about to yell so she could take the money back before Goku interrupted you, putting a hand on your shoulder.

"It's too late Y/n she's already gone now! Why don't you accept the money?" Goku said with his usual innocent which made you sigh in disbelief. Yet you didn't felt like scolding him right now you were too tired.

"I hope you don't want us to spar or train right now.. I'm too lazy." You mumbled with an irritated voice not wanting to deal with that right now.

"Heheee.. I just wanted to see you!!" Goku chuckled with his usual goofy smile that you started to like so much (But you didn't wanted to admit it yet...)

"You interrupted me and Bulma for that?.."

"But she has to go anyways!!"

"... Fair point."

Too lazy to argue further you just decided to let him win only this time. Since it was very late and you are the laziest person ever.

"Oh!" You heard Goku yell and wondered what that was about.

"Hm? What's up?" You asked him wanting to know what's on his mind.

"How about I take you on a ride home on the Nimbus? We'll get to watch the stars together!!" Goku said patting the Yellow cloud beside him.

"I guess I wouldn't mind..." You said as a small smile appears on your face.

Knowing that only pure-hearted people can go on it you decided to put a hand on the Nimbus and not to your surprise it went through it. Goku seemed very surprised though.

"How? You're one of the kindest person I know!!" Goku frowned wondering why that didn't work but you just chuckled at how innocent and cute dumb he was.

"That's not how it works Goku.."

"How does it works then?"

"I'll explain you another day. I'm too lazy right now... But what do we do now??

After your question, Goku put a hand on his chin thinking about a solution. He found it faster that what you were expecting.

" What about you get on my lap?" Goku said smilling innocently which made you blush.

"Why are you all red so suddenly Y/n??" You just brush it off not wanting to break his innocence of the poor guy.

"Just forget it alright? I'll go on your lap."

Goku chuckles in happiness hearing this. He wasted no time sitting on the Nimbus cloud and putting you on his lap.

He also took the opportunity to place his chin on your head. Which made you blush a little.

"Ready Y/n ?" Goku said Holding your waist. Too lazy as always you just nodded with a hum.

The Nimbus started to make it's way towards your home, as you took the opportunity to watch the beauty of the sky.

Goku smiled at your amazement, he found you so cute.

" Like what you're seeing Y/n?" Goku asked, his happiness obvious in his voice.

However, he heard nothing.

"Y/n ??" Goku asked looking at you just to find you asleep.

Oh well... He was already happy having you in his arms

He made a big detour to enjoy this moment even if you were sleeping.

Oh my god this took much longer than expected... The way I decided to randomly write headcanons out of nowhere instead of finishing my homeworks is wild. I hope y'all will like this!! If not I'll probably kms but it was very fun to write though!!

Will maybe do that another time if I don't forget this account 😭😭

Because you were shy, you hadn't kissed yet.

Seeing Gohan with a girl might have made you a little jealous though...and you might've impulsively kissed him.

Didn't stop him though, he just told you to keep quiet while he answered her questions from the other side of the locked door to make her go away.

More often than not he wasn't traditional with the position.

Anything that let him see your face and how expressive it was fine, though.

Surprisingly Gohan can get primal if in a certain mood.

He can also be evil and make you memorize test questions this way. But hey, you remember the answers!... And the...memorization methods...

To embarrass you, occasionally he'll surprise you and put you in the position of control. He does his best not to coo when you stutter out demands, but you never last long before relinquishing control to him.

(rant ahead, proceed at your own risk)

honestly though, i do not like it when a show has no problem putting characters through trauma but doesn't want to address it afterwards. especially worse when they keep dogpiling trauma onto one specific character and then just forgets all about it. oh yay, the world is saved and this character is alright now, i guess.

exhibit A: Marcy from Amphibia. she was already having issues with leaving her friends and trying to combat that with escapism. she got reasonably rejected by her friends when they realized she tricked them. she got backstabbed by the king, both metaphorically and literally. the stab scene literally needed a content warning. she gets put on life support for a while and then gets turned into a weapon. the VA did a really good job with the screaming that it really made us think Marcy was going to at least have scars later. if they went all out, she'd probably be paralyzed or disabled for a while. if not, the least they could do is have her being weak and unable to move too much or fight.

but guess what? her friends rescue her from the core and after a little bit of crying and apologizing, girlie is a-okay. no visible scars, no physical injuries, not even a little bodyache. she jumps up immediately and is fighting the enemy in her super saiyan form moments after.

and do we even have to talk about the emotional and psychological trauma? nope. Marcy is saved now, that's all that matters. apart from a little bit of character growth, this girl is not affected by what she went through one bit.

don't forget that right after seeing Marcy get stabbed and presumably killed, Anne goes back to earth, has exactly 1 second of crisis and then completely forgets about her friend. a lot of the viewers argued that Anne was just repressing her feelings and trying to act happy. if this is true, the writers should show it. just having her act happy and have fun at grocery stores and museums doesn't really send the point across. you start to wonder whether the character got amnesia or if the writers have it.

The Owl House temporarily succeeded in showing a happy-go-lucky character repressing their feelings a.k.a Luz in s2b. we clearly see Luz looking anxious or sad when she's alone or when no one is looking. you see her panicking and trying to overcompensate with jokes, when she's actually not feeling okay. it's done really well in both animation and voice acting.

exhibit B: Hunter from The Owl House. now TOH wasn't overall as bad at showing emotional impact and trauma as Amphibia was. it had its fair share of tears and panic attacks. we see multiple characters very clearly experiencing the aftereffects of traumatic events they went through - King, Eda, Luz, Amity, Hunter. the only problem is that these arcs aren't really resolved well.

Hunter being the most popular example. like Marcy, Hunter was someone who was just given trauma after trauma to deal with. he was a child soldier, raised by his abusive "uncle" who was also the emperor. he was brainwashed into doing whatever his uncle wants him to, with the golden child complex tacked onto him. he is already in a very fragile position at this point, accepting his death and digging his grave when he fears that he's about to disappoint his uncle. he later finds out that he was a clone of said uncle's brother and that there were thousands before him, disposed of easily when they turned against the emperor. he has to fight his uncle in the finale, where said uncle tries to manipulate him again. after getting stranded in the human realm, his uncle later possesses his body, almost killing him in the process. oh, and his best friend actually gets killed.

and the aftereffects? TOH wasn't as avoidant as Amphibia. they did show Hunter having multiple panic attacks, identity crises after leaving the emperor's coven and very obvious fear and negative impacts of abuse.

but the whole grimwalker thing seems to be not taken as seriously as it should have been. Hunter is worried about his friends knowing that he is a clone, rather than about being a clone. i mean, in a world where grimwalkers aren't implied to be a common thing, surely it must be very existentially shocking and confusing to suddenly learn that you're not you, right? i mean, if i learned that i was a clone of someone else, i know the first thing i would think of wouldn't be about how my friends would take it. because i havent had the time to process it myself.

like i get it, these are Hunter's first friends and he doesn't want to lose them, yada yada. but it's still a bit strange to address it this way.

the main problem i have with Hunter's arc is that he never gets his closure with Belos. after Belos possesses his body and kills Flapjack, Hunter tells the others that they have to find and defeat Belos in order to avenge Flapjack. he is clearly distressed and angry. but then the story suddenly seems to forget about his trauma and focuses on Willow's issues instead and just handwaves the whole revenge thing aside.

Hunter did not have to be part of the final fight against Belos. but he needed some closure after everything that had happened. i mentioned this in a previous post but remember when Zuko was able to confront his dad, call Ozai out on all the shit he did and loudly reclaim his destiny? Zuko was allowed to face Ozai and say "I'm not going to be who you want me to be. you are a horrible person who abused me all my life and I'm finally cutting myself free from your influence, and I'm going to right all the wrongs that you made." this was such a powerful moment and Hunter deserved something akin to it too.

but in the end, Hunter isn't even at the scene where Belos dies. Luz, King, Eda and Raine are. and sure, all of these characters were affected by Belos's actions one way or another, but Hunter was the one who was most deeply impacted by Belos. and he never got his closure, he just.. had to move on. it was just such a disappointing end to his arc because he was a character that had so much potential, but they pushed his entire arc and development aside, so that huntlow can happen. yes, i dislike huntlow, it's a very forced and poorly written ship that sabotages the personality of both these characters.

anyway, yeah. either take time to address your character's trauma or don't give them trauma at all. believe it or not, not everyone goes through absolute life-shattering trauma and pain. people deal with problems, sure, but if you can't write about trauma well, please don't.

Rude Encounter

"Hey there! My name's Gohan, I am a half-Saiyan from Earth! You've probably heard of my father, Goku!"

"Actually no I haven't" Moon replied

"Oh, ok, well my father is the famous Goku! I'm sure you've heard of him. He's a great fighter, and an amazing friend to many, and most definitely me! I look up to him a lot. I'm a half-Saiyan, and I was raised here on planet Earth, so I'm a protector of the planet, just like my dad!"

"Nope I haven't" Moon walks past the tall Saiyan Gohan

"Oh, uh, alright then... Guess I'll just be on my way. Oh! Before you go, would you mind hearing a fun fact about me?"

He gives you a friendly smile

"No" Moon was about to fly away Gohan, a bit saddened, raises his head and calls to you louder "Hey! Wait! One more thing! I'd like to tell you something! One thing!"

No Moon starts to fly away

He keeps shouting after you "Please! Hold on just a little bit longer, I have something that I think you'd find interesting! It's important, at least just listen for a moment!"

"Go tell someone else" Moon yelled back at him

"Aww, come on! Please! I'm just trying to make conversation with you!"

Gohan runs towards you, wanting to shout at you before you fly off

Moon flies away "what a weirdo" Moon thought

He shouts loud enough for you to hear "Dang it! Why do people always leave when I want to tell them something!" His head is down, seeming disappointed, he slouches down, looking sad

The next day Moon was at a coffee shop reading a book Gohan walks into the same coffee shop, he looks up and sees you reading, he recognizes you, and takes a seat at a table near you, he starts to talk to himself "Hmm, I think I've seen her somewhere before, she looks very familiar. But from where? Oh! She's that one person I tried to talk to yesterday! Maybe I should try to engage a conversation with her again." He clears his throat and stands up, walking towards you

Moon was just reading her book

"Hello there! Mind if I sit here with you?" He sits down, waiting for a response

"I actually do mind so go sit somewhere else" Moon rudely implied

"Well, that's not too nice, what'd I do to you? He says in a disappointed tone

He slowly stands up and goes to a seat at a different table. He sits there, glancing at you every now and then

Moon goes back to reading her book

"Grr... What has that girl got against me, just because I was friendly to her? Hmm, you know what? She deserves a little bit of a scare."

Gohan jumps on top of the table next to you

"Hey! Hey! Don't just continue to ignore me!" He shouts

Moon punch him and left the coffee shop

"Ow! What'd you just do that for? That hurt, you know."

Gohan got a small cut on his cheek, he looks a bit startled, but also annoyed

"Great, now I have a small cut on my face, thanks a lot!" He grumbles, putting his hand on his face, and wiping away the small amount of blood "What is her deal with me? I was just trying to be friendly..."

Moon was just walking down the street reading her book

Gohan spots you on the street, and a look of annoyance comes across his face. He approaches you, and taps you on the shoulder

"Hey! Pay attention to me, now. I need you to listen to me."

Moon Ignores him

"Hey! I'm talking to you! Listen to what I have to say!" Gohan shouts at you, trying to get your attention

"Don't just ignore me, it's rude!" He says in an irritated tone

The next day Moon was in her dorm room waiting for a new roommate that she was inform about. Gohan walks into the dorm room, he quickly recognizes Moon, and gives her a small smile "Hello again! How are you doing?" He glances around a little bit, searching for his new roommate

Moon this your new roommate Gohan Ms. Chaly said

*He turns his head to the woman that's speaking "Oh, well hello Ms. Chaly! And yes, yes, I am supposed to be the new roommate for Moon."

Gohan walks over to Moon, giving her a small smile and nodding

Yes and I should be going Ms. Chaly said while wave goodbye

Gohan waves at Ms. Chaly as she leaves

"So... Moon, it must be kind of weird to have me as your roommate, I mean, the last time we met, you hit me in the face." He smiles at her "But let all that be behind us, let's start fresh, right?" He reaches his hand out to you "I'd like to get to know you."

Moon slaps his hand away and starts to read a book

Gohan takes a step back, looking a bit taken aback by your response, his smile suddenly drops, and he seems a bit hurt by it

"Ahh... come on, why is she doing that... I tried to say sorry... I was just being nice, and this is what I get. Hmm... I really want to get to know her, though." He thinks for a moment, and the light bulb in his head goes off "Maybe... "Ghaaaah!" He screams, transforming into a huge, muscular, and towering version of himself, his golden energy rising up and flowing around him "Show. You. Wrong...." He looks down at you, with an intense, serious look on his face, it looks like he's not joking around anymore

Moon goes back to reading her book A bit annoyed, he leans down to you and picks you up with his large and powerful hand "If I have to show you..." He starts to shake you, moving you up and down "... that I mean you absolutely no harm... So be it." He lets you go, and crosses his arms, looking at you with his same serious face

"Let's try this one more time... Hello. I'm your roommate, Gohan. I don't want to fight you. Can we be friends?" He extends his hand out to you again

Moon was laughing while Gohan was shaking her

Gohan lets out a small chuckle when he hears you laughing at him and how he shook you up, he's glad you found humor in it, he calms down a bit, letting all the yellow energy around him disappear, revealing his normal form "Well... if you're not afraid of me anymore, would you like to get to know each other?" He smiles at you, waiting for your response, he's happy that you're not afraid of him anymore, and he hopes you'll say yes

"Maybe" Moon says as she goes back to reading her book

"Huh? She still can't give me that 'yes' that I want to hear." Gohan thinks to himself "What's wrong with this girl? Why won't she acknowledge my friendly gesture?"

"Well... I hope that 'maybe' turns into a 'yes' one day soon." He says to you in a friendly tone "Anyway, I'm going to go get some food from the cafeteria, do you want anything?" He asks, his tone still sounding friendly

"Nope"

Gohan shrugs his shoulders, he smiles at you "Alrighty then, I'll be back later." He waves to you and leaves the room, closing the door behind him as he goes

"I hope I can one day have a good and lasting friendship with you, Moon." He says under his breath, as he walks down the hallway of the dorm

Anastasia: "Why do I have to listen to you?"

Cinderella: "Because I'm your commanding officer. We've been through this, Anastasia. I am Captain Snow's first officer. You are Lt Jr grade, be glad you're not an Ensign like Drizella."

Cinderella: "I have some good news and bad news."

Anastasia and Drizella: "Please mother, for once, listen to Ella."

Cinderella: "Because despite everything you are the only mother figure I have ever known."

Lady Tremaine: "Then you're a fool, Cinderella. I am your stepmother but I never loved you, never will."

Cinderella: "I am well aware stepmother. As much as it pains me to know that you will never love me, I'll always love you."

Lady Tremaine: "Well hurry up and tell me you brat."

Cinderella: "The captain said she would let you out in two conditions. One, you return to the Enchanted Forest or you stay in the Fairytale and will be its janitor."

Lady: "I shall not do either of those. You're a disappointment as a stepdaughter and as a lawyer. Get a better deal."

Cinderella: "That's your only option, stepmother."

Lady Tremaine: "What about Anastasia and Drizella?"

Anastasia: "We're staying here, Captain Snow has been very nice to us."

Drizella: "Yeah."

Lady Tremaine: "Traitors."

Drizella: "You're the one that started a mutiny against Captain Snow when she was a very nice lady. She fought frost demons allied with Saiyans and Kryptonans. She even faced the likes of General Zod and Brainiac."

Lady Tremaine: "And I'll do it again."

Anastasia: "Please mother, we're trying to help you."

Lady Tremaine: "Don't make me laugh. You're just trying to get rid of me. If you were truly trying to help me, you'd keep me aboard and Cinderella in the brig. "

Drizella: "Why do you despise Cindy so much?”

Anastasia: "Yes, why? Ella never did anything to hurt us. We've hurt her more for no reason."

Lady Treamaine: "Because that little nothing doesn't deserve love."

Drizella: "Mother that was uncalled for."

Anastasia ran to the side of Cinderella to comfort her.

Drizella: "If it wasn't for Cindy, Captain Snow would have sent you to an actual prison. You're lucky they let us see you."

Lady Treamaine: "When did you two become so pathetic? My own daughters Drizella and Anastasia."

Anastasia: "Come on Ella, let's go. You don't have to take this. Mother may not appreciate your efforts, but Drizella and I do."

Lady Treamaine, talking to herself: "I don't deserve Cinderella's love. Why won't the girl just hate me already?"

Anastasia: "Ella, don't let what mother said get to you. You're a good girl."

Drizella: "Cindy, you're a hardworking one too. I am just sorry we didn't see how badly we treated you before."

I decided to watch Dragonball Evolution for the first time since 2009 now that I’ve actually finished dbz and after watching 10 minutes I started taking notes. So here they are if you were curious:

* This movie is essentially about if Gohan was a huge loser and started trying to date Erasa, but also everyone is white

* I do like the effect of the dust swirling around when Goku powers up at the beginning

* Grandpa Gohan acts a lot like Goku too??

* Why does Mai have a boob window???

Comics this week?

Superman #3 - Williamson manages to land the plane. Livewire continues to be a delight, so much so that I want Williamson to give her an arc of her own ASAP. Complaints that Supes and Lex found a solution a little too easy - and nothing major was done with Parasite Superman - aren't illegitimate gripes, but this arc nailed the feeling of a DCAU episode that Williamson was aiming for. Currently doing a rewatch of the DCAU, and Supes/Bats always are able to whip up a quick solution with SCIENCE. I do wish this arc had gone an issue longer and we got more scenes with Parasite himself because he was barely in it. Williamson has said Parasite will keep showing up in upcoming issues just like Livewire, I want more character exploration of who Parasite is beyond "he wants to eat everything". This arc did do a good job of establishing him as a legit threat, just need Williamson to build more on that. Scene of Clark and Lois at the end dancing in mid-air was perfect, Bendis did that at the end of his run and I hope it becomes a reoccurring thing for those two.

Superboy: Man of Tomorrow #1 - Porter and Lindsay nailed the Dragon Ball influence they were going for. We get cocky Kon kicking ass with his TTK in outer space and it rules. Lindsay depicts Kon's TTK in a similar fashion to the ki attacks of Dragon Ball and it's awesome! The Dominator Kon is up against has Freeza's color scheme in case the influence went completely over your head, and he's even committing atrocities out of petty greed which is Freeza's pre-Goku MO. Painful to compare how enjoyable this is compared to what has been done with Jon. Bit disappointed that Miss Martian isn't a member of the Cosmoteers, was hoping she would be a secret member, but it's good to have Superboy on a team that isn't all legacies. If this is supposed to be Conner's "Freeza Saga" he better get his own equivalent to Super Saiyan by the end!

Nightwing #103 - Computer in hell being full of malware and popups because it's hell got a laugh from me. Otherwise I need to rant a bit. Why does Taylor constantly undercut his villains? He's chosen to do an arc with Neron as the big bad, he wants us to care about the fate of this girl and be afraid that Neron will get her soul and corrupt Nightwing... but he constantly makes Neron out to be a joke. Blaze mocks him to his face that he's letting kids make a fool out of him, and while yes he does deck her for it, she's still right! Why call attention to that? Clearly this is just filler to give Redondo a break, but there's no need to rub it in the reader's face that we're stuck reading a loser flail ineptly while Nightwing and friends effortlessly overcome everything he throws at them. Ending falls flat because there's not a chance in hell that Dick is even going to consider taking Neron's offer.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #14 - First issue of the series that I didn't love. Not a huge Metamorpho fan, and any cliffhanger that ends with "Superman is exposed to Kryptonite!" just gets an eyeroll from me. Need Waid to spice this arc up with another twist the way Boy Thunder was, because this isn't gripping me.

Nightcrawlers #3 - Spurrier broke the hot streak of SoS finally piquing my interest in the final issues. Bunch of plot turns happen that should wow me, instead leave me mostly indifferent. Good luck to Gillen with wrapping this event up next week.

I'm amazed someone has the same thoughts I have in regards to Dragon Ball's Saiyan hybrids. I mean, I wish Pan got a better deal and I want to like her so much, but GT treated her so badly.

It's nice to find people who share your opinions!

I feel as if all the hybrids were treated like trash. The only one who got proper development and grew into his power was Gohan. He's the only one who had a tail as well.

GT had interesting storylines but kid Goku was annoying and Pan was way over her head. It's been a while since I watched GT so some details are a bit fuzzy. When I watched GT as a kid, I liked it well enough. It was not as great as the previous series but it was ok. The only highlight was SS4. Plus it was nice having consequences for dragonball usage. It was the best idea of the series and a full-circle solid ending.

I did not dislike Pan. She had good moments (eg. wanting to help with fights). However, she is not special as a Saiyan hybrid. If she were human, maybe I would be more impressed. But she was literally a damsel in almost all the fights she was involved in. For example, with the dark dragons, the girl was constantly being absorbed or held hostage. Plus we never got the sense that she was growing as a fighter. There was also that creepy pedophilic episode with the freaky doll guy! She deserved better. I'm still salty that she can't even transform. Some fans argue that this is due to DNA dilution but I beg to differ! Goku and Vegeta Jr. can transform at young ages like Trunks and Goten! These boys are like 1/16 Saiyan or less! Why can't Pan transform?! I am almost tempted to claim sexism.

In general, the hybrids are just plain misused. With Gohan, we got a pretty good hybrid situation. He has his father's fighting ability but his mom's fire and heart. Krillin and Goku were able to reason with him in his great ape form due to his human side in the fight with Vegeta. He felt like a hybrid.

The others just feel like humans with Saiyan powers. I wish we could have learnt more about Saiyan culture. We only had superficial things revealed to us: food, fighting, non-changing hair, desire for strong mates, zenkai boost. None of the hybrids knows anything about Saiyan culture which is partly Vegeta's fault.

To make matters arguably worse, half the hybrids don't even look Saiyan. I like Bulma but her genes are not Saiyan friendly. None of her kids looks Saiyan. Compared to Gohan and Goten who have Saiyan features like spiky hair.

Sorry about the tangential rant but there were so many missed opportunities. Bulla/Bra and Pan were our chance to get girl boss Saiyans. We're talking about the daughter of the PRINCE of Saiyans himself plus Goku's grandkid. I don't expect them to match Gohan but at least Goten and Trunks level. But no, both girls can't transform and one of them does not even fight. Pan had the spirit to be a great character but she could not back it up.

To add insult to injury, Goku and Vegeta's descendants don't know what super Saiyan even is (they called it "turning blonde"). What a shame.

The way Prince Vegeta spoke sent shivers down her spine. There was no way he meant everything he said. It had to be because of whatever happened to him, right? She didn't know all the details, but she could smell the difference in the air.

Taking a defensive stance, her eyes narrowed and she frowned.

"I don't know what's going on, but I'm not going to let you hurt anyone else. The real you wouldn't want that to happen." Especially since Bulma was in the audience; didn't he care for her?

“I’m sorry Tifa, we followed the Supreme Kai to where those guys took my energy. My dad, Piccolo and Krillin got turned to stone by this Demon King Dabura’s spit, and his leader the wizard Babidi, took over Vegeta’s mind. See that M on his forehead? That’s Babidi’s branding, it’s on Dabura too. They’re making us fight so they can use that energy to revive Majin Buu,” Gohan explained to Tifa.

“It’s a monstrosity with unbelievable power, it will be the end of the universe if he gets revived. So we must prevent it at all costs, you must not fight him,” the Supreme Kai added. Unfortunately it was easier said than done, as the transformed Majin Vegeta was charging up an energy blast aimed at the audience to try and taunt Tifa to fight him.

“You won’t let me hurt anyone else? How disappointing. Those are the words of a cowardly weakling like the rest of these Earthlings. The real me wouldn’t want this? You’re wrong, girl, this is the real me! A true Saiyan warrior!” Vegeta declared, and in his anger he lost control and shot the ki blast into the crowd.

Gohan who was closest, swiftly got in between and deflected the ki blast away. Unfortunately, it still blew up the top corner of the stands along with the people that were there, near Bulma and the rest of their loved ones too. “That’s enough Vegeta! If you want to fight, fight me! Leave Tifa and the others out of this!”

“Do not interfere, Gohan! I only desire to fight the strongest one here, and that is not you. It’s Tifa!” Vegeta yell as he let out a blast of power. Babidi then ordered him to kill the Supreme Kai to stop his meddling. “Master Babidi, it will be a waste to kill the Supreme Kai. Would you not what the honour of doing that yourself? Even better, let him experience the terror of Majin Buu once again before he dies by your hand.”

With that reasoning, Vegeta was allowed to do as he pleased, he would still be gathering energy for Majin Buu regardless. “Give me a direct answer, Tifa. Will you fight me or not?” he demanded as he pointed a finger at Tifa in declaration.

“Kakarot, what the hell?!”

“What? I told you I was going to skate last night.” Kakarot’s brows furrowed in confusion.

“You don’t just hang out with another girl!” Chichi threw her hands up angrily.

“Bulma’s one of my best friends. Plus, Yucca was with us too. We all went together.”

“I don’t understand why Bulma just had to be there.” ChiChi rolled her dark eyes.

“Because she’s my friend? We’ve known each other since kindergarten. That’s even longer than I’ve known Krillin!” Kakarot explained for the thousandth time. Krillin had joined their class in the second grade.

“I’m your girlfriend! Does that mean anything to you?!” ChiChi slammed her fist on a desk. Kakarot flinched at her statement.

“Of course it does! Don’t say that.”

“Don’t hang out with her so much then.” The bell rang, giving Kakarot an excuse to walk away. He bolted to Yucca’s locker.

“What’s up, Kakarot?” Yucca popped over.

“Chichi just told me not to hang out with Bulma.”

Yucca’s face fell.

“Oh my Kami!” Yucca groaned. “That’s ridiculous, break up with her.”

“She’s not like this all the time though.” Kakarot’s face was soft like Yucca’s. Like their mother’s.

“You’ve been friends with Bulma for years. If you wanted to get together, you guys would have done it by now!”

“Exactly!!” Kakarot agreed loudly.

“She needs to calm down and realize that Bulma ain’t tryna steal her man.” Yucca shook her head in annoyance, “Your friendship has bothered her ever since you got together.”

“It’s so hard for her to be okay with Bulma being my friend.” Frowning did not suit Kakarot’s face in the slightest.

“Bulma’s really the least of her worries.”

“Mmph!~” Raditz groaned against Violet as they made out. She straddled his waist, her hands up his neck and in his hair. Raditz kept a firm grip on her hips. “You’re so hot, Vy.”

“So are you~” She attacked his lips with a fevered effort.

The tension was unbearable, and they knew their clothes would be off soon. Every Friday night, Violet’s parents went out. Raditz would come while they were gone to destroy their daughter in bed. This time was no different.

Violet started grinding on his lap when the house phone began ringing. Groaning in disappointment, the Saiyan went downstairs and picked up.

“Hello?”

“Kakarot and ChiChi had a fight, so don’t be hard on him when you come home, dear.” Gine had such a sweet voice.

“No problem. I’ll help cheer him up.” Raditz stated with full confidence.

“Thank you, honey. Bye~~”

“Bye, mom.” With that, the next phone call was over. Raditz put the phone back on the wall before going back up to Violet. “Just my mom telling me to be nice to Kakarot since he and his girlfriend had a fight.”

“Aren’t they always fighting?” Violet pondered.

“Yeah, but that’s not our problem right now.” Raditz smirked before kissing at her neck.

“Kakarot, I’ve got a song for you.” Turles approached his younger brother.

“What’s it called?”

“About A Girl by Nirvana.” Turles fired off the response.

“Oh, I know Nirvana.” Kakarot admitted. Turles rolled his eyes.

“Good. Listen to it.”

“Okay, okay.” Kakarot chuckled and promised, “I’ll listen to it later. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. If you wanna vent, I can make it into song lyrics.” Turles offered.

“Maybe. We’ll see about that.” The younger brother grinned.

“Kakarot, I heard what happened! Status report!” Raditz busted through the door. A trail of hickies peaked out of the collar of his shirt.

“I’m alright. Turles suggested a song for me to listen to.”

“I bet it was by some band you’ve never even heard of.” Raditz snorted.

“No, everybody knows Nirvana.” Turles crossed his arms.

“Emo weirdo.” Raditz laughed. “Anyways, my dear baby brother is having relationship issues. You know what can really help with that? Ending the relationship.”

“I don’t want to do that right now. I wanna try to fix things.” Kakarot frowned.

“People are hard to change, lose either Bulma or your bitchy girlfriend.”

“I vote for the last option.” Yucca appeared around the corner.

“See, I have support for my genius idea.” Raditz gestured to his little sister.

“Raditz, it’s not rocket science.” Yucca rolled her eyes.

“Shut up, virgin.” Raditz retorted.

“Hoe, I’m fifteen!”

“So? I lost my v card at fourteen.” The oldest said for the millionth time.

“We know Raditz.” Yucca rolled her eyes.

“Wasn’t she like seventeen? That’s like, grooming or some shit.” Kakarot commented.

“I realize that now, of course.” Raditz scowled.

“Enough about Raditz’s sex life, it’s disgusting.” Turles spat.

“You’re just jealous I get more girls.”

“Hey, I’m not a virgin though.”

“Yeah, but you haven’t slept with anyone except that one girl.”

“She was my girlfriend.” Turles sank into himself. “I loved her.” His ex was still a sore topic even after one year of them being broken up.

“Whatever. Don’t you like Launch? Why don’t you get with her?”

“Because she’s my bandmate. Everyone knows romance within the band never works out.”

“When you’re all famous, guys will be lining up to get in her pants. You should claim her before she decides to bless some of them.”

“We don’t even know if she likes me back, so shut up.”

“I can talk to her, we have art together.” Yucca offered.

“No, that’s weird.” Turles sunk further into himself.

“I’d much rather help Turles get with Launch.” Kakarot decided.

“I don’t need any help.”

“Course you do. You’re an awkward little weirdo.” Raditz slung an arm around him.

“We’ve got you, Turly.” Yucca grinned.

While the narrator was still talking about Earth's nature with explanation and in deep detail...it got cutted off by a deep man yelling,the scene quickly zoomed up into space where there was a ship.

There was a tall Saiyan with long spiky hair,yelling while there was a little toddler with cat features pulling the man's hair with a grip like a piranha fish or worst “NAPPA! GET THIS FAILED LAB RAT OFF ME!"He would scream in pain as the pulling of the hair gets to him,the bald Saiyan knowns as Nappa just guffaw at the Runt Saiyan “Relax He just a toddler,don't need to cry about it you soft ass” Nappa blunted out as he folded his arms “Hey Vegeta...should we help him "He would asked the small Saiyan who was pasting around the ship "No" Vegeta responsed out.

I know some people are disappointed we didn’t get much new lore about the prophecy in Mother of Olms, but honestly I kind of wished they revealed that it was more a prediction than mystically ordained fate more early on. Partly because I find prophecy tropes overused, and b/c I think it could have made for funny conversations where Anne/Sasha revealed that they had no way of knowing about said prophecy despite being the chosen saviors.

Ok so fun fact, apparently the great majority of people where caught off guard by the prophecy, its just that dedicated fans like us broke the code and found our about it way earlier than anyone else.

That aside, I understand your opinon on prophecies, its always more fun when they are subverted in some way or other rather than being played by the letter.

By example the legends of the Super Saiyan and the Sun God Nika/Joyboy, both were not proper prophecies but things that simply aligned themselves due to circumstance.

But y'know, funny enough, what you mentioned seems to be what happened, the girls never knew they were chosen ones and as someone once told me, they embody both the positive and negative aspects of the wit, heart, strength thing of the stones, meaning at the end it could have gone either way.

Chapter 1

Authors Note: This is the first chapter of my new DragonBall Z fanfiction. I would love for you to reblog and like this, as it would be very helpful! Also any constructive feedback will be greatly appreciated! I don't know what to call this yet so any ideas?

Looking back, Alice would have never guessed her life would have turned out the way it has. From becoming best friends with the daughter of the world’s most renowned scientist, Bulma Briefs, to meeting an alien. Two aliens actually.  If Alice met her former child self, the youngster would be ecstatic to know that there were endless opportunities out there. Hell, meeting an Alien? Child Alice would be over the moon. She was ecstatic once she learned they were highly skilled fighters.

Growing up, Alice was told that martial arts was for boys, and that “fighting wasn’t for young ladies”. Every time Alice’s father told her this, she would fume with anger and run to her room. Crying whilst reading her books she imagined she could be like the heroes she read. Alice never understood why girls were so unjustly discriminated against. Seen as “weaker” or “frail”. Never appreciating the fact that she was limited by society's standards, Alice grew up fighting for her place in a man’s world. Which is what led her to Bulma Briefs.

Bulma and Alice were like two peas in a pod. They both despised society’s view of women. Bulma grew up in the male-dominated field of science and outshined all her other peers. To which Alice highly respected. The two got along quite well, and over time became the best of friends. Taking into consideration her appreciation of martial arts, Bulma introduced Alice to her childhood friend, Goku. 

Admittedly, Alice didn’t like Goku at first. She was often dumbstruck at his naivety. How could a grown man not understand social cues amongst a plethora of other things? Bulma found Alice’s dislike of the orange-clad fighter hilarious. 

“You know Alice, once you look past all that, he's actually a great guy!” Bulma giggled, catching Alice off guard. 

They were sitting on Bulma’s balcony at Capsule Corp. Goku had teleported somewhere else leaving Alice in the midst of conversation whilst Bulma sat back and observed the interaction. Alice had a perplexed look on her face, After speaking with Goku, Alice was always left feeling confused. She could never understand that Saiyan man. And she never liked being confused. 

“Maybe your right.” Alice shrugged and walked back into the house. Eventually, Goku’s kindness and determination won her over. They became great friends. Oftentimes Goku would beg Alice to fight with him. Alice would always refuse. She wasn't confident enough in her abilities after seeing how Goku fought.

“Pretty please can we fight? Just a teensy bit? PLEASE?” Goku begged for the hundredth time. Alice rolled her eyes, deciding that saying no repeatedly just wasn't going to work. So opting instead to slap him. 

“All right! Now that's the spirit!” Goku exclaimed after dodging the slap.

“Wait what?” Alice immediately panicked, not realizing she had accidentally given Goku her permission to fight. Almost immediately, Goku proceeded to kick her in the gut across the room. Alice grunted as she landed on the wall, furniture scattered everywhere and the wall now severely damaged. Bits of wood and debris was scattered everywhere and in Alice’s hair.

After an intense lecture from Bulma, Goku decided he wouldn’t try that again. He didn’t realize that Alice was so weak. Bulma talked a big talk about how you loved martial arts, leaving him disappointed. 

“Apologize!” Bulma screamed at the Saiyan as he awkwardly laughed whilst rubbing the back of his neck. A nervous habit he picked up after experiencing several awkward encounters in his time. 

“Geez, I’m sorry! Bulma told me you were a strong fighter so I assumed you could handle it.”

After hearing that, not only was Alice physically hurt, but so was her ego. She slowly got up, shooting Goku a glare, and slumped out of the room.

Alice could hear Goku saying “What? I apologized!” Assuming Bulma got on him for his unintentional backhanded apology.

After meeting Goku, Alice was bound to meet Vegeta. Oh, how she despised that man. His arrogance and disrespectful attitude infuriated her to the core. Those two never got along ever since they first met. Alice remembered her first encounter with the Saiyan prince very well. 

Bulma had rented out a Capsule Corp property to Alice, making it her new home. She loved it. Having plenty of land to train in, and a nice cozy home to live in. The only downside was having Vegeta as her neighbor. Bulma rented out property and a home to him, conveniently next to Alice’s. Forcing them to be neighbors. 

Deciding to properly greet her neighbor, Alice created a welcome basket with assorted treats and items. She wanted to be on good terms with her neighbor, in case she ever needed them or vice versa. Stepping up to the front porch, she got no answer once she rang the doorbell. Giving up after waiting several minutes she left the basket on the porch with a note reading;

Hello,

I just moved in recently and wanted to bring you a basket of goodies! My name is Alice McClain and if you ever need anything don't be afraid to holler!

A few days had gone by. No contact from her neighbor by the name of “Vegeta”. When Bulma told Alice his name, she giggled. The name “Vegeta” made her think that the words “vegetable” and “vagina” combined together was how his name must have been created.

After radio silence from her neighbor, Alice returned home from work one day to see a note. The note looked as if it was hastily torn from a notebook, and angrily written words read;

After reading the note, Alice was infuriated and crumbled up the note in her hands. Wasting no time she stomped over to Vegeta’s house and rapped against his door with her hands. After a few minutes of constant knocking, an angry figure opened up the door.

“What is it, woman!? Why must you bother me?” Vegeta’s scowling face hovered over Alice’s.

“How dare you be so disrespectful? I was trying to be nice and you do this?” Alice threw the crumpled-up note at his chest, then in bad taste, spit in his direction. Thinking back this was not the wisest move, considering that her actions would have consequences.

“I-Woman! I should have you over my knee for that! How dare you disrespect the prince of all Saiyans!” He angrily spat. 

Now Alice would never admit it, but hearing him say that made her blush. She couldn't even think of a witty response.

“I- Fuck you!” She growled and immediately turned away, walking back towards her home.

Who does he think he is?

I couldn’t wait to see if Isayama makes us happy or disappoints us again, so please, take this as a humble gift… In the case we don’t have our canon Rivamika, you can always have this instead.

The first time I wanted to do a work like this was the last year. I wanted to draw everything, but I really wanted an art style similar to Isayama’s which I realized it was impossible for me because my style it’s a way more different than his, so I finally decided to do an edit. The “Rivamika cottagecore” tag and posts also encouraged and inspired me a lot to do this, so thank you so much girls.

I didn’t want to make a long story and tell what happened with everybody so I focused this work only in our beautiful ship… You don’t know how much I enjoyed doing this, but the best part is that I didn’t have to make a lot of changes… Mikasa’s and Levi’s faces are easy to edit, it’s almost like “some author” wanted them to be edited as a couple XD (lol my mind)

Mikasa’s hair is long in some panels, ‘cos, you know, there was a 10 years timeskip, so I played a little bit with her hair. Also, in the last part, she has the same hairstyle as before because she thought long hair makes her look older XD… I couldn’t remove the scarf, so consider it as another extra accessory (not Eren’s pls XD) Oh! Something more: Mikasa’s daughter is identical to her  :3 And they don’t get older because they’re saiyans XD

Hope you like it!!! (I should be doing my gardening today, planning my classes and drawing cliparts, buuuut, this is much more important XDXDXD)
