I am once again going insane over Giulio Cesare in Egitto. Mostly its libretto. God.
Cornelia's almost melodic recitative breaking up Curio and Cesare's very rhythmic conversation, especially when saying "Da pace all'armi"? The sudden rise of Achilla's "questa del gran Pompeo superba testa" followed by a return to the calmer recitative from before with "di base al regal trono" because he thinks he did nothing wrong?
The whiplash between "Svegliatevi nel core, furie d'un alma offesa, a far d'un traditor aspra vendetta!" and "L'ombra del genitore, accorre a mia difesa e dice: a te il rigor, figlio, figlio, si aspetta"? The entirety of "Alma del Gran Pompeo"??
The tension in the rise and fall of Nireno and Cleopatra's "Troncar fè Tolomeo il capo... / Ohimè! di chi? / Del gran Pompeo" and later "Che gli mandò? / L'esanimato volto"?? The absolute clash between the melody and lyrics of "Tu sei il cor di questo core" that combines somewhat apologetic and tender-sounding lyrics with loud threatening music? And I think there's a musical Dies Irae reference in there? The first word of Cesare and Tolomeo's arias about each other being "l'empio"??
The absolute rawness of the line "L'aure che spira tirano e fiero egli non merta di respirar"? The melody of "Vanni son i lamenti" as Sesto announces his desire for revenge and "Sappi, perfido monstro" after he fulfils it being the same?
The climax of "Son nata a lagrimar" mirroring Cesare and Cleopatra's "verá" through harmony in the final duet, comparing the separation of act 1 with the reuniting of act 3? Tolomeo yelling "Sveglia! Sveglia!" in Cornelia's face after "svegliare" being established as basically Sesto's word in "Svegliatevi"? And Sesto's being a prayer and request while Tolomeo's is an order???
I AM LOSING MY MIND (affectionately)

uuuughghghg, BABES!
Did... did we just forget this entire exchange?
Crowley coaxes Aziraphale over to the tentative beginnings of being consciously on "their own side" by confronting him with all he stands to lose, all the wonders of this world that Heaven refused to welcome.
and now here he is again, pointing up to the heavens, adding one more thing to that list. There is no music that brings you joy, no charming little restaurants where they know you... no nightingales. And isn't that such a tragic hail Mary? To lay oneself bare like that, to hope of all hopes that you are beloved enough to say "I am not in heaven, I am not allowed to love you there." and have it be enough?
When I first watched this scene, the possibility of Crowley saying "our love is over" here never even occurred to me, and I still don't think that's what's happening, not even for a second. But...
Aziraphale sure does.

Sephiroth is making my brain FIZZ this is so fun.
First of all, his voice actor in advent children???
The new remake one is excellent but just doesn't capture that same level of terrifying cultured menace. The smug evenness and it's DEEP wow yeah. So smooth. High key petrifying I don't know who he is but he did an outstanding job. That bit where he asks cloud to 'give him the pleasure of taking it away?' like the way his voice lilted up in casual question like good GRIEF that was hot.
Anyway I have another hc: sephiroth would have made an EXCELLENT scientist like his parents, he's certainly got the intellect and hunger for knowledge, not to mention his ability to do research for days on end XD. Supernova actually using astrophysics equations is absolutely fantastic and makes me think that's what he'd major in.
By that logic, he'd want to be in rocket town with the rocket, and he'd most definitely want to go to space himself if it was the last thing he did (ha).
Do you think he'd tie his hair back like his mum?
Anyway I imagine if he hadn't been a soldier and instead been free to choose his own path he'd have been right there the whole time being a child genius and getting into fights with cid about who gets to be the pilot (Co pilots. Co pilots is how it's supposed to work with normal planes never mind things that breach the atmosphere).
Like I understand the amount of redemption/fix it fics that have him be a merc with cloud or whatever but I feel we're ignoring the possibilities stemming from the fact this man canonically knows modern astrophysics and that is absolutely not something you can inherit via way of ancient inhuman semi deceased life form.

All I've done lately is draw and sing and get drunk and cry, I haven't gone to school in a bit because I was sick
I've been practicing singing because I'm in a music course this year, I promised I would participate again, if I don't pass audition though I'm gonna go and do arts
Actually pretty embarrassed to sing in public though,, I should have not promised to participate again. If I pass they're gonna probably put me in the choir if there's one this year, my voice is too tiny to sing alone, I've always sung by myself at home so I never learned to raise it when at it, scared of being a bother to my neighbors

Thoughts on Naruto live action movie which is going to directed by shang chi's director?
Look, Destin is a fantastic director. If we were to believe movie series who’ve had director changes in between then it is a fact that the director alone has major influence on the quality of it. I’m pretty sure-if we can reference Shang-Chi at all or the writing for the Glass Castle and assume he has the resources he need- that he can make the movie look awesome.
As great as it may look in the end… who asks for this!? It’ll exist solely for the fact that Hollywood is too damn lazy to write their own stories and hardly ever want to take the risk of introducing something new because people rarely have the patience these days to engage with that which they don’t know anything about. The company thinks they'll excite the fans with Destin's vision, but when did that ever happen? I am curious though about Kishimoto's 'input'. Apparently they're going to somewhat cooperate during the production progress. That in itself doesn't say much as it's overseen by many others- we'll see I guess ;-; Can't say I have much hope for it, or at all actually. It's a recipe for disaster and disappointment. The script is rewritten never with the amount of thematic care the original creator poured in.
*shrugs* if it's not necessary or you can't improve it, then just leave it alone ffs.

King of Attolia is still my favorite of the series but I don’t think I can accurately describe the joy I get from Sophos “Two Guns” Sounis and the “you shot the ambassador?” “you told me to shoot the ambassador!!” exchange

what are your thoughts on the songs and poems scattered throughout the lotr books?
I love them! I know many of them by heart. I love them so much it would be impossible to pick a favorite. Tolkien was an amazing poet, and the songs and poems in LOTR really bring the story and the characters to life, not to mention offering glimpses of Middle-earth’s ancient history. There are many of his poems that I can’t even read without getting chills down my spine because they’re so beautiful and poignant.
The world was fair, the mountains tall,
In Elder Days before the fall
Of mighty kings in Nargothrond
And Gondolin, who now beyond
The Western Seas have passed away:
The world was fair in Durin’s Day.
This is just so beautiful and heartbreaking and everything I love about LOTR. Is it even possible to read this without being moved? Let alone the whole poem, recounted so lovingly by Gimli while the Fellowship is in Moria? And don’t even get me started on Galadriel’s song of Valinor, or the song of Beren and Lúthien, or ANY of the hobbits’ songs, or literally ANY song from Rohan, or Legolas’ song of the sea, or the lament for Boromir, or…
