So I've been looking into some card meanings for BSD stuff, and I've noticed the four king cards perfectly fit the four leaders of the major gifted organisations:
Mori for the King of Spades, Dazai literally calls him the embodiment of logic in the manga, and despite what most people think, he is normally very fair to his subordinates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is almost too on the nose, it literally describes Fitzgerald exactly
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The king of clubs for Fukuchi, while it mostly fits for his persona as a hero it does fit if you remember that he is trying to fight for what he believes is justice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally the king of hearts for Fukuzawa, He stands apart from all the others as his only concern is the happiness and comfort of his children subordinates
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just love seeing how well these all fit, its very possible this is just a coincidence, but given Asagiri's track record i think it might be at least slightly intentional.

Everyone slightly panicking as a ethereal almost heavenly glow surrounds Atsushi when he stands in a beam of moonlight.
Akutagawa: “Beautiful Atsushi this, cute Jinko that, he always looks like this.”
The Ada, the Pm, the Guild and everyone else:
Gin: *slightly exasperated but still fondly* “you’re the only one who’s ever said cute Jinko”

Port Mafia Headcannons
- they have karaoke once a month(M*ri has never been invited)
- gin likes going by the Ada and just watching them through the windows like they’re an office comedy (which to be fair, they kinda are)
- chuuya has kinda become a mentor the the akutagawa’s and makes sure that they’re doing ok
- gin and higuchi go on botanical garden dates on they’re days off
- kaji always has sour candy in his pockets
- kyouyou is trying to take care of Q because she misses Kyouka and wants to do better
- Tachihara, gin, and Hirotsu have a game night every few weeks and sometimes invite other people
- Elise and Q are besties and play pranks on people together
- Tachihara is the worst driver since dazai
- chuuya checks in on his subordinates every week to make sure they’re all ok
- higuchi is horrible at cooking
- gin and chuuya gang up on akutagawa and make him take a few days off whenever his lungs are really bothering him
- akutagawa is really good at braiding hair because of gin and sometimes helps Elise with her hair
- kyoukou makes the best tea and used to have dreams of opening a tea shop
- after babysitting Q kaji discovered that the best way to keep them from causing mass hysteria is to give them headphones and a fidget, they are preoccupied for hours at a time
- Yosano and kyouyou go on ‘totally not dates’ and trade stories about Q and kyouka
-gin and kyouka are pen pals and trade gossip about the organizations(they’re trying to make akutagawa and atsushi be friends)

the colors reminded me it's port mafia time
about all of the port mafia has black in their palletes, it is very clear to see BUT there are three exceptions
kouyou has black in her character design BUT also pinks and reds. she probably doesn't count but still! you notice the pinks/reds before you notice the black. I think this is to connect her to kyouka but I could be absolutely wrong. small little extra detail: she has spider lillies at the bottom of her kimono(?) which repersent danger and death and abandonment! (they can also represent rebirth but death is the most common meaning for them)
kaji also barely has any black in his pallet. but he's kaji. absolute unhinged creature
and finally tachihara! he has black pants but also green jacket and white shirt. obviously in the beginning he wasn't actually a port mafia member but a hunting dog (that changes but also we don't see him after he gets turned so does he get new mafia swag? the world may never know.) the green of his jacket could repersent his connection to the hunting dogs (green jacket -> green uniforms) but that might be a HUGE stretch so eerrhhree take it with salt.
mori also applies to this halfway since he has two outfits (port mafia boss + his physician outfit) BUT with his physician outfit he wears a purple button down with his white (lab? doctor?) coat over it. purple is associated with corruption and royalty and I think that applies to his position as the mafia boss BUT! BUT the lab coat covers it so ITS LIKE HIM CONCEALING IT!!!! HIDING!!!! GRR DHER I hate mori but I love putting him under a microscope sometimes dude.
anyway!!!!!!! colors!!!!!!!! fun.
ohhhh I LOVE THIS!! lots of little details i didn’t think too far into.
thinking into kouyou, the black in her design is under the pink/red mostly. as if she’s keeping the more extravagant (maybe the wrong word) or passionate part of her external while the darkness she tries to not let out. she’s talked before about how you can’t go back if you thrive in the darkness, so i assume her design reflects that a lot. she expresses beauty despite being in the darkness. pink is also associated with love and care, and she seemed to take on a role in protecting kyouka and likely loved her or deeply cared about her. (i am so here for kyouka and kouyou found family older sibling or mother-like role).
kajii has a couple black stripes on his outfit. not much, but enough to symbolize that he’s with the mafia. what’s interesting though is that they cover his eyes as well. you’d think they’d put more emphasis on his eyes to show that he is corrupted as well but they stay shielded a lot. harukawa said at one point that his eyes are pitch black even if you cannot see them. this is probably a combination of him being a scientist and keeping his face shielded and maybe adding some uncertainty for his character. i also assume the white clothes is to go with the scientist-y look. we don’t know much about him yet but i hope we do soon.
and for tachihara hmmm. i wonder if asagiri had him planned out from the start? or if he decided to add that in to give tachi some depth since he didn’t have much beforehand? either way i love that he has such a cool design, it’s one of my favourite mafia looks actually! i like your idea of the jacket connection a lot, that makes sense! i noted that tachihara also wears black wristbands, tying into the colour theme of the mafia as well. i’m going into heavy speculation here, but maybe the white on his shirt could somehow represent his purity (combined with the green jacket to show his status as an officer)? and the black of his pants could represent the effect the mafia has had on him? as in he is both good and evil. or maybe they just thought the colour contrasts looks cool and i’m looking to deep into things idc tho ily tachihara
i don’t have anything to add to mori’s designs i just really like what you said with that. really cool ideas !!
i always love seeing your ideas on stuff!!

I've been thinking about the organization created under the leadership of the port mafia on issues of peace and prosperity for a long time, because business is business, and the mafia is power. She is a supporter of globalization, to assert herself and the integrity of her interests. Osamu is the president of the commission, Chuya is the executive director. The purpose of the organization: to find solutions to world problems. Total, broad problems that require pervasive capabilities to solve. Dazai conducts collective negotiations, concludes absurdly profitable contracts. His genuine talent and experience is the best resource of organizations. Osamu says that the art is to convince the opponent of the absolute good for himself, from my proposal, my partner should think that he made all the decisions himself, that no one influenced his will at all. Chuya is a well-known performer, he is not the opposite side, you cannot object to him, the weapon does not negotiate. They are working with objections, creating channels for free exchange of opinions and are going to the executive committee meeting right now. Dazai in an ironed shirt, crocs and a bathrobe. Chuya is neat and fresh. But they woke up together and Chuya only managed to lift Dazai out of bed and iron his shirt.

it is criminal how i can go into my closet and easily pick out an outfit that looks like i’m part of the port mafia but not be allowed to wear it in public for fear of looking like i’m part of the mafia

If there’s one thing that Mori and Fukuzawa agree on it’s that 14(ish) is the prime hiring age apparently

Chuuya being a pimp that cares about his girls is the thought of the day. If someone is abusing the girls or crossing their boundaries he's quick to fuck up the person in question.
"My girls are selling a service, so what the fuck makes you think you can hurt them? You don't do that shit to your drug dealer, hah?"
The man under his shoe doesn't answer until he screams from his arm shattering.
He has mandatory doctor check ups for his girls. He doesn't want them to catch anything, or for them to have lasting injuries in the case of anything kinky going wrong.
Chuuya hated paperwork with a passion. While he was the one who started the doctor days for the first week of the month, it was easily the worst. He swore these underground doctors didn't know how to write legibly even if you payed them.
Seriously, do NOT talk mad shit about sex workers to him. If you claim it's a useless job, not a real job, or that you shouldn't have to pay? He might personally kick your ass.
"Pretty girl like that probably doesn't even view it as a job. I shouldn't have to-"
Chuuya slung his arm over the man's shoulder. "Do we got any problems here?"
Yui tapped contract in front of her. "Mr. Nakahara, this man payed for Lily's time, but refuses to pay the over time fee."
"That so?"
The customer was dragged out an hour later with all of his limbs broken.
All in all Chuuya is a well respected pimp. A lot of girls clamor to work at his place, and Mori has thought of putting him in charge of other places as well due to the place being the best whorehouse in the Port Mafia's pocket.

baseball au headcanons
*for those who don't know, in baseball, the average major league baseball pitch is 92.3 mph, and the fastest ever pitched was 105.1. a "walk" happens when a pitcher throws four pitches outside of the strike zone, which is between your mid-torso and knees. it is pitched from 65 ft back. it means that the player gets to walk to first base.
dazai is still known as the "demon prodigy" - he's a pitcher, and insanely good at it. he could pitch at 90 mph by age 16. they say he pitched a game where the opposing team never got a hit, or a run, and they weren't any walks.*
chuuya is the first basemen, and while he's an insanely strong fielder, he's notorious for when he's up to bat. he's one of the few batters who is almost guaranteed to hit a home run every time - he and dazai are essentially the only ones who can practice together, because no one else can hit dazai's insane pitches.
ranpo is short stop - the player who stands between second and third base, since most balls are hit in that direction. he's incredible at it, but he's also incredibly lazy. he's already determined whether a ball will come his way or not based on the way the batter is standing, past history with the batter, and their bat.
akutagawa is also a pitcher - he's known for injuring people unfortunate enough to get in the way of his pitches, but he doesn't have the same record as dazai.
atsushi is also a first basemen! he really wants to learn from chuuya, but chuuya's a hard ass about playing a game for all nine innings, and so atsushi doesn't get to play much.
kunikida is catcher. kunikida is the only one insane enough to catch dazai's pitches.
yosano is team manager - kyouka hangs around her a lot.
mori and fukuzawa are the coaches.
tanizaki is second basemen, and boy is he confused a lot. he doesn't even know how he ended up on the varsity team.
tachihara is third basemen! he hates hates hates working with ranpo, though, so he'll try and bench himself as often as possible.
dazai and chuuya haven't been allowed on the field together since they made a double play (with the help of tanizaki and tachihara)** and then got into a fist fight on the field. during a game.
** a single play is a play in which the fielding team gets one out after a single bat. a double play is when two outs are made after a single batter hits. a triple play is when three outs are made after a single player hits. only 15 triple plays have happened in MLB history.

Ignoring Dazai's horrific actions in the past takes away from the importance of his redemption
I've seen a bunch of people who seem to not know (Or just choose to ignore) how incredibly brutal and terrifying Dazai was in the past.
Dazai is one of my favourite characters and definitely one of the best written in the series, and trying to pretend he wasn't that bad is really reductive for his character as a whole. This post is not some moral plea of why you shouldn't like Dazai because he was evil, he's fictional, but don't pretend a fundamental part of the character doesn't exist.
I'll start with a list of some of the things Dazai has done:
Nailed a guys feet to the floor with rebar, then stacked concrete blocks on his arms till they were about to break.
Tumblr media
Imprison Q who couldn't have been older then 8 at the time in conditions that made Q want to destroy Dazai years later.
Tumblr media
Mental and physically abuse Akutagawa to the point where he is entirely dependent on Dazai, and values Dazais approval over his own life.
Tumblr media
He has never failed to break a victim in interrogation even when Kouyous division couldn't make then talk.
Tumblr media
He was responsible for half of the mafias profits in the year before The Dark Era, which is completely insane.
He was able to make both Mori and Verlaine uneasy, two of the most dangerous individuals in the whole series.
"Miscalculation.
You misjudged the situation, you failed to find the optimum solution. You should not have chosen this child to help you. Dazai is unpredictable. He can be sharp but in a dark, twisted way. He's observant. He's cold and calculating with no equivalent in the mafia where most evil resides."
Dazai is a darkness so deep that no one in the mafia can fully see the bottom.
But that's what makes his redemption so powerful, surly if even that child, who has come to believe that he isn't even human, can find hope and safety, then anyone can.
Dazai is a product of his environment, he has infinite potential, and a talent for manipulation, but when he surrounds himself with good people he starts to reflect them and become better himself. First with Odasaku and Ango, then with the ADA. He is washing the black of the port mafia off himself, and that will take time, and it will take support, but its why his journey is so fantastic.

OK but Dazai would be the type of guy who just kinda comes over uninvited and let's himself in. Like, I imagine highschool AU Dazai as the quirky best friend in Disney shows who just let themselves in through the window and make themselves at home. The ADA crew and PM will wake up in the Middle of the night because they hear someone in their house and think they're getting robbed or something, nope, just Dazai letting himself into your house at stupid o'clock. Or if they have clubs after school they get home and Dazais just sat in their living room.
So I clicked post but then got this idea of Dazai, after leaving the Port Mafia, and before he joins the ADA just randomly showing up in Chuuya or Akutagawa's room, or whoever else he was on decent terms with. He either gaslights them (in the case of Akutagawa) or blackmails them or they just decide themselves not to mention it. And then he joins the ADA and jumps between randomly showing up in Port mafia people's rooms or randomly "visiting" his fellow ADA members, usually Kunikida.

Hey😁
Can you do a fic where Higuchi gets a solo mission and the mafia doesn't think she could do it but she proves them wrong and she gets the mission finished in less time.
Hello 😊 I can indeed. I love this idea!
Back at it again with Mori trusting Higuchi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mori trusted her.
Elise trusted her.
Her family trusted her.
She trusted herself.
Why…. Why couldn’t anyone else? Why wouldn’t her coworkers believe in her.
Granted the executives she understood, they were worried but that was only because they’d never actually seen her work on her own before… it had always been with a team, always overshadowed by Akutagawa and the Black Lizard squad leaders… it was never just Ichiyo Higuchi.
This meeting was a disaster- from Akutagawa practically throwing her to the dirt to the Black Lizard insulting her to Koyo looking at her wearily… Chuuya honestly he didn’t look like he cared about her going just worried like any good person would be.
She wouldn’t really be alone she knew this, someone would be in her ear, watching through a camera they’d made into a contact as she wandered through the nightclub.
Ichiyo could hear their insults as she stepped into the bass filled club. All she had to do was assassinate the leader and co of a small time gang, one that had barely got their hands dirty. It was a simple job and really she didn’t understand why only Elise and Mori trusted her with this because from what she had read the worst they’d done was rob a few banks and attempt to imitate the Port Mafia. A weak group with nothing to stand on.
She thought as she swayed to the music, making eye contact with all necessary parties, tempting them to come her way, she thought about how everyone in the mafia had their own quirks.
Some had abilities that they relied on, some relied on weapons such as guns and knives and others liked to be more explosive but many overlooked the simplicity of poison and why many believe it is the woman’s weapon. She may use guns the most and she may have something buried deep within her veins but the slightest bit of sharpness and a strong dose of the most lethal substance she was done.
Anyone she’d danced with that night felt the bite of those silver rings placed delicately on her pretty little hands. Anyone she kissed felt the strange tingling of her lips. And anyone she didn’t like as the night drew to a close felt the sting of the small blade she’d hidden on her thigh.
The mission was over before it even began, she’d taken special care to look into the gangsters that were there tonight, hopelessly drunk and wanting everything they couldn’t have. From a pretty dancer to someone, anyone they could get their hands on… and Higuchi had practically sunk claws into them all and enjoyed every minute of it.
They were all dead before the Sun even kissed the horizon.
Through the few hours she’d been at that nightclub, dressed to the nines in the most revealing dress she owned and heels much too high and hair delicately curled, with makeup she hardly ever wore.
~~*~~*~~*~~
Her heels clicked and clacked as she walked down the hallway, that revealing dress just a bit too short and lipstick still a bloody shade of red. She hadn’t bothered changing, heading straight from the nightclub to the meeting room at the Port Mafia base.
No one expected her to be back just a few hours after the mission was given, no one expected to be brought back to the meeting room so fast- it felt like whiplash as Ichiyo stepped into the room, still dressed up as she was.
“All accounted for.” She said simply, a wicked grin gracing her red stained lips. She passed the USB now containing the video evidence collected through her contact into the leaders white gloved hand. He grinned back at her, proud.
And as they watched the nights events playing out, Ichiyo responding to any questions and adding additional info, each member of the mafia sat in that room learnt a lesson, Ichiyo Higuchi was not weak.
After all this was why she joined the mafia at Mori’s request… she was the femme fatal no one ever saw coming.

If there’s a fanfiction out there about the ADA and the Port Mafia combining their organizations (for whatever reason lol) complete with Soukoku and Shin Soukoku and all the general chaos that BSD brings, I need to read it.

is this mori slander,,, possibly?! but hey at least i put kouyou in a blurb
mori: “and you be careful madam or you’ll turn my pretty head with your flattery.”
kouyou*girlbossing*: “i’ve often wished i could turn your head…. on a spit over a slow fire.”
all the other silly ppl at that long ass table mori conducts his silly little plot altering, earth shattering unreasonably devious meetings: “oh?!!?”
