Prince Mallow, Representative of Nimbus Land, in the Beanbean Kingdom
After coming home and reclaiming his rightful title as the prince of Nimbus Land, Mallow spent time getting to know his parents and their subjects, as well as learning all he could about his native homeland, its culture, and his role in it. Having comfortably grown into his title, Prince Mallow decided to set off and see the rest of the world and learn about other cultures while acting as an official representative of Nimbus Land. The prince had already gotten a taste of traveling after the time he spent under the famous Super Mario's wing, and he could return home again at any time whenever he wished. So the king and queen gave their blessing for Prince Mallow to get out there and make a name for himself and his home.
The first stop on his journey would be the kingdom just beyond Bean Valley where the great beanstalk up to Nimbus Land begins: the Beanbean Kingdom. His royal status quickly earned him an audience with Queen Bean and her son, Prince Peasley, who took a fast liking to the visiting prince both to his friendly nature and their mutual friendship with a certain Mario. Peasley was surprised, however, to learn that Mallow was far less familiar with the other famous brother, Luigi, as he only got to meet him at a celebratory Mushroom Kingdom parade.
Nonetheless, the Beanbean prince was more than happy to take his Nimbus counterpart on a grand tour of the kingdom and all it had to offer. And while the ride took off faster than Mallow was prepared for, he was quite fascinated by all the Beanbean Kingdom had to offer, including the various forms of exports for their famous bean crops, the Chuckola Cola breweries (Mallow harbors a bias for his more familiar Croaka Cola brand, but he kept that to himself), and even services such as their education system, entertainment industry, and surfing locales. Mallow, as it turns out, is absolutely terrible at surfing. Nonetheless, the trip went rather well, and Mallow was happy to offer further relations between Nimbus Land and the Beanbean Kingdom.

NIMBUS TIMBER - The Millennium Saga [Firebreathers ; Echoseers ; Goddess-Touched]
My movement becomes a work of mindless automation, once the halls around are familiar enough for my mental organization of colored glass and unclear distance to guide me. A blessing, in that I don’t need to think-think-overthink to figure out where to go. A curse, in that I’m free to think-think-overthink every way the world could end in the time it takes me to find the neon blue, teal, evergreen, and gray door that hides Beta’s makeshift workshop. On instinct, my hands go to press the panels in a door left behind in the electrical-humming district of Little Wasi. To strike the pattern I wrote into my muscles bathed in morning mist and sleepless sunrises, one I learned so I could let myself in and wake the crone in the rafters in time for his repair shop to open.
Basics:
He/Him - Transgender Man
Bisexual - 21 (~23 on Earth)
First-generation Mae Ehlf - Water Mage
Heavily OCD-coded; chronic insomniac.
Where he begins:
Nimbus is awake when Ember returns home after midnight, but this is nothing strange. It's rare to ever find him sleeping, really, ever since their life took a nosedive and he managed to convince himself that if he never closed his eyes, nothing bad could ever happen again.
It doesn't work. But that doesn't mean he can stop doing it.
Luckily, his apprenticeship under the robotics engineer Beta Altiana has flexible hours. Even if that means working with a man with no regard for physical safety or lawfulness, two of the biggest triggers for Nimbus' paranoia.
But he can cope. There's only one front on which he has to deal with that, after all.
Right?
What he finds himself confronting:
When Ember decides they want to join the rebellion, Nimbus is adamant that they turn the rebels in for a bounty instead. It's safer on all counts, really, and maybe the guilt would eat him up alive, but that wouldn't be anything new, not after he lost track of time once and ended up with a dead sister and mortally wounded brother and years of blaming himself for—
But Ember wins the argument. And, just like he warned them, the consequences they shrugged off come raining down in a horrific mimicry of his deepest fears.
Now they all have to run. To abandon the only city they've ever known. To leave their lives behind.
If he has to leave because of Ember's rash decisions, he's going to make one of his own.
He's bringing Beta with them, regardless of his status as an international fugitive.
Important connections:
Family: Ember (twin), Autumn, Dusk, Ash, and Oak Timber. Formerly Luka, Akari, and Starlight Timber, and Lileya Wolfsbane (all deceased)
Friends: Andy Meywin (best friend) and Beta Altiana (the man he apprentices under)

The Dragon Ball Z TTRPG -- Yes, an Official One Does Exist
Before I go into the game itself, I want to talk about the creator of the franchise.
Yesterday, the world learned of the loss of the great Akira Toriyama. He was so incredibly influential to so many of us, and like many others, I was absolutely gutted by the tragic news. He was far too young.
Tumblr media
Dragon Ball was a big part of my life growing up, and it's what helped me create bonds with so many people who became good friends. Other people online have written poetically about how much each of his series and creations have touched their hearts, and I don't know that I can do the same justice. I'm not wordy like that.
I grew up during the start of the NES era so I knew about Dragon Quest, but at the time I had no idea that the iconic character and monster designs were thanks to him. When the SNES came out and Chrono Trigger was released, I immediately recognized the style of art. Dragon Quest VIII is still my favourite, if only because it's cool to see the characters go pseudo-super saiyan. In 1995, the original dub of Dragon Ball hit airways here, and a few months later Dragon Ball Z was released. It was surreal to watch kid Goku and adult Goku every week, simultaneously. Seeing the flying nimbus, but not seeing the Power Pole, and not knowing who Piccolo or Krillin were, but recognizing Master Roshi and Bulma, and finding out Goku was an alien the whole time. It was jarring at times, but seeing references to each series like the Kamehameha Wave and capsules, helped. Then there were all the Budokai games for PS2. I practically broke my dual-shock controllers trying to win those beam battles.
This is going to get long, so I'll put a separation bar here.
When the internet finally came out publicly and schools had access, I looked up Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, discovered what anime was, learned of Akira Toriyama and how he had a comedy series called Dr. Slump, that the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z anime were considered separate stories, but the manga kept it as Dragon Ball, etc.
Heck, when the cards came out, I was one of the first people to buy Ani-Mayhem's DBZ set.
Tumblr media
What's really great to see is people discovering the Dragon Ball manga for the first time, hearing their thoughts on YouTube videos (namely Merphy and TotallyNotMark), and how original and groundbreaking the fight choreography is compared to others series, and how much his style has influenced current day shounen manga. And that doesn't even include how Team Four Star and DBZA has influenced people.
But, let's get into the rest of this post.
When the TTRPG came out in 1999, DBZ was such a phenomenon that our local bookstore was having trouble keeping it in stock. My gaming group ended up having to pre-pay for a copy of the TTPRG. DBZ: The Anime Adventure Game from R. Talsorian Games was a little rough around the edges when it came to balance, and how powering up worked compared to the series, especially when that system was revised in the Frieza saga book. Still, it was nothing any of us had experienced before. Up until that point, we had done AD&D, Rifts, Toon, Shadowrun, and Marvel Super Heroes.
The person who usually ran the games, ended up being the GM and we did two campaigns. I had an absolute blast. Unfortunately, I was kind of alone in that. The TTRPG doesn't leave a lot for social interaction, which a number of our players preferred doing. This is closer to a war game. As such, we never played the game system again after the two campaigns. In fact, we never even finished the second one. I still picked up all three books as they came out though, and the GM from that group still has his original Saiyan Saga book.
The first thing that made me happy, as I didn't have nearly the dice collection I do now, was all you needed were 6-sided dice. That made my life so much easier, and for the Shadowrun players, they had tubs of d6 ready to use.
When it came to the contents of the book, what I really enjoyed was seeing all the power levels, and the character art.
Tumblr media
These power levels updated with each book, and the lore and special abilities would also update.
If you kept the game to Dragon Ball levels, you felt that you could keep the campaign going for a very long time. The character sheet was extremely simple, and there were tips on what you could build a campaign around, as well as basic suggestions on trying to keep the "main character" complex to a minimum. The Star Wars RPG systems have a similar concept where the GM is told that either everyone's a Jedi, or no one's a Jedi. Same thing for ewoks since they were so limited for weapon proficiencies (they literally could never learn how to use tech, ever, which I find ridiculous). Basically, for Dragon Ball, namekians should look at fushions to power up, or everyone should be a saiyan or half-saiyan, especially if you're bringing in the super saiyan transformation. Otherwise, no saiyans in the game at all. This way everyone stays about the same level and can't be a spotlight hog while everyone else is forced to sit back and watch the game instead of participate.
If you'd like to read a full review of it, you can check one out here. Barnabas did a great write-up.
Personally, I find it kind of wild that there's literally zero stats for dinosaurs or other prehistoric animals. Where's the T-Rex and sabertooth tiger? This feels like a massive oversight given that people live alongside dinosaurs and other extinct-in-our-world beasts.
Overall, it was original in what it tried to accomplish, and I appreciate that. We've since seen other game systems that can replicate this fairly well. I prefer BESM (Big Eyes, Small Mouth), and any edition works, but I know others really enjoy doing DBZ using FATE, which I can see working. I've seen people try to pull off DBZ characters using 3.5e, Pathfinder 1e and 2e, and 5e, but you'd need to homebrew your own class from the ground up, and it likely wouldn't be balanced. At best, you could maybe get something close with a 20th level character.
If you find a copy somewhere, I definitely recommend it for a one-shot, if nothing else. Maybe you can run it at a convention. I'm considering doing that. It'd be a nice send off. And this year's convention is dinosaur themed, so maybe I'll have the mission be to teach a dinosaur how to ride a ball.
In closing, I'm so grateful to Akira Toriyama for giving us the stories and designs that he did. I can not convey in words just how important the Dragon Ball franchise was for my friends and I to even have met one another, and then Chrono Trigger brought us even closer and we'd go to one friend's house every lunch (he lived across the street from school) and we'd watch him play because we were so immersed in the story and with the characters...
So much respect and admiration for him. Akira Toriyama, thank you for everything. In Eiichiro Oda (One Piece mangaka)'s words: "I wish that heaven is as jolly of a world as the one you imagined and drew."

Elekid: What was your favourite show growing up? What about now?
My parents didn't let me have access to the telly as a child, so I was more of a book reader. I liked Little Red Riding Hood back then, but now I find myself appreciating the melancholy of The Velveteen Scorbunny.
Similarly, I don't know if this counts because he's a video game character, but I watched Legends Born Late: Virtual Vagrant Saga like it was a movie, and I really liked Nimbus.

im heading to bed in a minute but I. Really wasnt expecting toriyamas death to hit me this hard. I guess its just a struggle to imagine a world without him in it. Its a bit crushing.
Like a lot of people, dragon ball means a lot to me and kind of formed my tastes. Its strangeness and darkness, its plot that I didnt fully understand and yet made perfect sense to me. I remember specifically when goku died, and the absolute shock of it. It was something i dont think i had ever seen
And after that theres this scene, and maybe its an odd one to point out. Goku enters the afterlife and gets on a flying nimbus and it just. flies on. In my memory this scene is minutes long while it takes in universe days for goku to travel, hes not doing much just quietly moving forward. This was probably just extensive padding, as the show was famous for that, but watching it didnt feel like padding. It felt....eerie, but also contemplative. The emptiness of the afterlife, just you and a road forward.
Its odd that out of everything thats what i think of when i think of dragon ball, but its what really marked it as different for me, the quiet and the space. The other scenes I remember vividly are piccolos death and gohans first brutal transition into a giant ape. Both were terrifying and confusing and i was entranced. I probably watched the whole z kai saga as nicktoons reruns and its strange terrifying world combined with its friendly faces was just so completely different from anything else and i craved difference.
If I went over every scene of dragon ball that i remember vividly in my head I'd be here all night. Im holding back the temptation to start listing again (the androids! gokus intensive training in that deep red room! vegetas introduction! everything about frieza! its over 9000!!!!!!! kamehameHA!!!!!!) but that just says so much, and for that I want to send a deep thank you for toriyama. Dragon ball is only one part of your long legacy, but its the part that defines who i am today.
Rest well.

DBS Spoilers for the upcoming chapter! Goten and Trunks stuff
You can find the translated drafts here:
Tumblr media
The bad:
Trunks doesn't know about computers (HOW?!)
Goten and Trunks going to the same school (unlikely; also they're over a year apart)
Not having replicated Gohan's watch already (and asking/TRUSTING Pilaf?!)
180 about the super hero look being lame (from Trunks in the Buu Saga, from Goten in DBS)
The good:
Fusion dance ref (tho this makes DBSSH sting even more)
Nimbus ref
Goten and Trunks are probably those who stopped the Zombie Androids and hence, caused Hedo to go to jail
Is this the Clean God?

Livros que eu associo com os personagens da Turma
Confira os meus outros Headcanons sobre esse mesmo assunto:
parte 1 parte 2  parte 3  parte 4  parte 5
Nimbus: Um Estranho Sonhador
Tumblr media
Uma palavra: worldbuilding
A ambientação do livro é simplesmente espetacular. O Nimbus adora high fantasy com sistemas de magia bolados e cenários fantásticos.
Sem falar que o Lazlo é um personagem tão querido!
O mundo precisa de um pouco mais de mágica. O Nimbus sabe bem como é.
Ângelo: A Batalha do Apocalipse
Tumblr media
Ramona: Um Lugar Bem Longe Daqui
Tumblr media
Ela chorou, ela chorou, e, adivinha? Ela chorou.
Sarah: A Saga dos Corvos
Tumblr media
Clichê, eu sei, mas qual é? A Blue tem poderes psíquicos! E um melhor amigo fantasma!
Como uma boa fã de Harry Potter não tem como não amar uma saga de livros baseada nos marotos!
E as PURAS VIBES dessa saga.
A Sarah sempre foi solitária, ela gosta de ler sobre amizades inseparáveis, deixa a menina ser feliz!

Sorry this took a little bit!
I love GT, especially the Baby Saga, so I wanted to try something with that! Imagine this being a little AU where Goten actually went with Trunks, Pan, and Goku to space like we was supposed to lol
I’ve always wanted to do a full Baby Saga rewrite with MarTen, but this’ll do for now lol
When Goten came back to earth after searching for the Black Star Dragon Balls with his dad and Trunks, he thought it was all over.
They had killed that bastard Baby and saved the planet.
Or, he thought so.
Baby had survived. Not only that, but the thing has infected the entire world. Even got Trunks too. He had no idea what happened to his father. Goten sensed Goku’s energy disappear a while ago…
Goten escaped all the way to Roshi’s Island. Everywhere else was compromised. When he landed, he wholeheartedly expected an infected Master Roshi to attack him.
The last thing he thought he’d ever see was a teary eyed Marron practically bursting out of the door, and throwing herself at him after she knew it was really him.
“M-Mar, what’re you doing here??”
“After everyone started moving to the Tuffle planet, I got away… that guy got my parents, Goten! I’d rather die on Earth then go to that horrible place. They were about to kill me, but Uub… he… he saved me. Then he brought me here because it’s so far from civilization that most forget it’s even here…
“Uub is okay?! Where is he now?!”
“I don’t know. He said he had to go after Baby so he left. What about you??”
Goten explained to her the whole story, about the Machine Mutants, Dr. Myuu, and Baby.
“We thought we killed him. We made sure of it. But somehow he survived. When we showed up here it was too late. You should’ve seen the look on Pan’s face when her own parents attacked her. She’s just a little kid, she doesn’t deserve all this…”
“how’d you avoid infection??”
“Luck, I guess. The thing attacked Trunks first. Trunks managed to expel it from his body. He went for me but Dad managed to blast him to pieces, and then in the chaos we lost him. He hides in people and we have zero way of knowing.. Even with my power, it wasn’t enough…. I’m too weak! My dad bought some time and ordered me to escape. I didn’t want to but—“ he frowned. “It’s my fault… My dads probably dead because I wasn’t there to help him.”
“Stop that!!” Marron shouted, surprising him. “You did nothing wrong, sweetheart. The fact that you’re alive now means we can still fight back. It was an unfair fight. I saw them. Gohan, Trunks, Bulla, all of them looked so twisted, following Baby’s orders like some sort of puppet. And I know you, Goten. You wouldn’t be able to fight them for real even if you tried. Your have such a big heart…” Marron gently kissed his cheek.
Goten smiled. “You’re right. We’ll figure something out… but man I’m hungry… let’s order food. I haven’t eaten since before I got back!”
Marron rolled her eyes. Only her Goten would say that at a time like this. “We’re literally fugitives of the state. If Baby’s forces find us, I’ll you’ll be killed!!”
“So no pizza?”
“Dummy! We have to think of a plan!”
Goten frowned. “Alright, lunch can wait. I do remember hearing my brother tell me a story about how him, Piccolo and your dad saved the world from Garlic Junior by finding this thing called the Ultra Divine Water. It purifies people.”
“That’s perfect!” Marron happily said.. “I can save my parents! And your mom! And everyone else, then we can go home!” She jumped up, ready to race out the door.
“Just one problem.” Goten grabbed his fiancé by the hand and gently pulled her back to the floor. It’s up on Kami’s Lookout. And I’m guessing Dende and Popo are infected too. Who knows who else is there.”
“Dammit…”
“They’ll sense us if we fly, and I’m still too tired to teleport, but i think we can use Nimbus. I can’t leave you here, so you’ll have to come with me. If I distract them, could you get the water for me?
“What if I fail… the world is counting on me… I don’t even know where it is! That temple is huge!”
Goten brushed a lock of hair out of her face. “You’ll be fine. I’ll be right there with you, babe. We got this, okay?”
“R-Right!”
Together, the young couple climbed on Nimbus and shot off towards the Lookout. As Marron clung to his back, Goten’s eyes flashed a brilliant green. “I’m coming for you, you bastard.”

GRANITE (ANNIE) MEYWIN - The Millennium Saga [Firebreathers ; Echoseers ; Goddess-Touched]
We sit in quiet stillness, the kind that always drives me to the edge of despair in a few short moments. The kind that I’ve never quite built a tolerance for, no matter how long I’ve worked on facing the fear of it. The kind that keeps me up long after dark, even on good days, scared. But it’s okay, because with Ember, silence isn’t scary. It just is.
Basics: She/her - Cis woman AroAce - 22 (~24 on Earth) Mae Elf - Metal Mage Cane user; born without one of her feet
Where she begins:
We first meet Annie when she's chattering on about all manner of gossip she gleaned from Citylady Palm, one of several clients of Annie's freelance tailoring pursuits. And, as often there is, buried among the fluff of her compulsive need to fill the silence is a series of gems: the people in power are starting to tire of the war abroad, too, and the local rebel group known as the Firebreathers is far more powerful than the Cityfamily wants to admit.
And as it turns out, she's not the only close contact available to the rebels--she just happens to be the one to find the other out first, and her social graces lead him right into the trap of admitting it through implication.
But though she knows how to run her mouth, she also knows how to zip it. And oh, she will, because she wouldn't need the patronage of the Cityfamily itself if their grip on the city was dissolved right along with the landlords.
What she finds herself confronting:
While Annie's story doesn't begin at the same time as others, her own gossip-seeking initiative leads her to chucking herself right into the worst entanglements of the lot.
Questions are, after all, at the heart of both gossip and mystery.
And when she's the first to pick up on the hints of an assassination in the making, only to find that doubting her instincts almost gets someone dear to her killed, she's never leaving another mystery alone again.
Important connections:
Family: Andy and Gabbro (triplets), Dian, Slate, Iggy, and Quartz Meywin. Aurora and Mahann Meywin-Tell (parents).
Friends: Ember, Nimbus, and Autumn Timber, K'Ron Isa and Elar, Xavi NoFather, and Magnolia Adisa. Ranina Palm (as a client).
Enemies: Ranina Palm (as a ruler), Genli Rainer (in solidarity with Ember and Xavi), and [REDACTED] (from asking too many questions of too many brutal "coincidences")
