this is life recently, all baby wants is gelato right now, which i won’t complain about. daniel and lando are like my full grown children half the time, and baby is the size of a cabbage now…which i feel the weight of 24/7🥴

Waking up in bed with Carlos Sainz was one of your favourite things in the universe.

You'd been together for a while now, and his friend long before that. Your relationship was one of those where the lines blurred together. You couldn't remember the exact day high fives turned into intertwined fingers, or celebratory hugs turned into making out in his driver's room.

It was actually the fans that had gotten you together. Working so closely with him for years meant that there were always pictures of you two together, and through being caught on behind the scenes videos and in the background of paddock coverage, you became a fan favourite amongst the non-drivers of F1. You were fairly used to being caught by paparazzi, especially as you were often escorting Carlos, who was the object of anyone with half a brain's attention. It was Carlos who picked up on it, and that day you did remember clearly.

He'd given one of his signature shrieks, the one you knew would be immediately followed by that ridiculous squawking laugh he only did when he was completely comfortable and totally amused. It took him a moment to compose himself before he showed you the video he was watching. It was a TikTok, obviously, because only TikTok had the ability to create chaos like that. The video was titled "My Favourite F1 Conspiracy Theories", which you thought was pretty funny in itself.

They were mostly silly, things about drivers losing seats and FIA biases towards certain teams, and a certain Monegasque driver with a home race curse. You were just starting to wonder what was quite so funny about the video Carlos was showing you when you recognised the set of images that outlined the penultimate theory.

"Carlos Sainz and Y/N Y/L/N are secretly dating," the creator was explaining, and in the background was a collection of paparazzi pictures of yourself with Carlos. Individually you'd thought nothing of them, but when they were collected together like that the image was clear. His hand on the small of your back, guiding you through a door. You hugging him, his hands on your hips and your arms wrapped around his neck. The pair of you out to dinner, you laughing at something he'd said, him leaning forward with that killer smile and his attention solely on you. You walking so close together that with the blurred image it wasn't clear if your fingers were intertwined or not. Carlos, holding you, his mouth pressing a kiss on your forehead.

"Must be a big secret if I didn't know I was dating you," you'd murmured, your mouth dry and suddenly very, very aware of the lack of space between you. He made a noise in the back of the throat, and just watched you for a second, those big brown eyes fixed on your face.

"Are we?"

"What?"

"Are we dating?" you stared at him because who asks that? Your expression must have given away the bewilderment. "I kiss you," he said simply as if that cleared up everything.

"I think there's a bit more to dating than just kissing, Carlos," his eyes focused on something behind you, zoning out for a moment and then coming back to you.

"Yes,"

"Yes?"

"I think we are dating," if this was his way of asking you out it was weird, but Carlos was a little weird (and incredibly adorable).

"Me too," you said because after a moment's reflection you realised that you'd been playing the role of Unofficial Girlfriend without even knowing it, for who knows how long.

"Okay then," he nodded and that was it. Carlos never brought it up again.

But you did notice he was a little more touchy with you in public. He was quicker to hold your hand. You stopped creeping out of his room in the middle of the night.

The feeling of his arm snaking around your waist, pulling you gently into his back brought you back to the present day. Your bare skin pressed against his hard chest was a heavenly feeling. He was always so warm, it was like having the best electric blanket in the world. He made a low grunt in his sleep, which only made you snuggle deeper into his arms. Mornings like this, when he had a day off and you were allowed to wake up without ringing alarm bells and instant activity, made everything else you did with him so worthwhile.

"Good morning, mi sol," ever since he'd accidentally called you a nickname in Spanish instead of English and you'd practically jumped him on sight he made a point to allow more of his home language to infiltrate. You squirmed in his arms, partly in pleasure at the nickname, and partly because he was peppering your neck with feather light kisses and the combination of his scruffy beard and long hair was tickling you.

"Good morning," you turned in his arms, not able to resist his kiss any longer. He met you with equal enthusiasm, his large hand coming up to cradle your face as you melted into him. When he pulled away it wasn't far, your foreheads touching and noses brushing against each other.

"I didn't think it was possible to love someone this much," God, he was such a romantic. It made your heart swell because you felt exactly the same. Everything in your life revolved around Carlos, and you wouldn't have it any other way. Even if the both of you were teased mercilessly in the paddock because Carlos was like a puppy with separation anxiety these days.

It was a slow kind of day. After a morning of fooling around in bed, the pair of you finally stumbled into the shower because his stomach was growling so loudly that breakfast had to become a priority. He insisted on cooking for you, even though you were more than capable of fixing the food too.

You were wearing one of the dress shirts he'd worn over the weekend, only half the buttons done up and it only just grazing your thighs. Your legs were bare as the only other item of clothing you wore was your panties. Carlos was no better, a pair of light grey sweatpants slung low on his hips. It was too hot for a shirt, he claimed, and you weren't complaining. You were leaning on the breakfast bar in his house, watching the tanned Adonis you were lucky enough to call your boyfriend making you breakfast.

He was focused on the eggs, his head tilted down to give you his incredibly sharp profile, his long hair shining in the sunlight and flopping into his eyes. He'd shaved in the bathroom, so he was back to a perfectly shaped stubble shadow.

"Do you know how beautiful you are?" You asked him, his attention snapping to you with a raised eyebrow and a slight quirk of his lips. He loved compliments. "It's truly distracting," which made him break out into a grin, forcing him to look away for a moment as you spotted a light pink hue creeping up his neck. He put the pan of eggs down away from the head and came over to where you were, lifting you onto the counter with ease and settling himself between your legs.

"I think I'm supposed to be the one to call you beautiful," his voice was a low rumble in his chest, his accent made the words sound like cursive.

"You can show me," you offered, earning yourself a raised eyebrow and a very smug look.

"It would be my honour,"

saw your post about reading 100 books this year, i dont mean to be presumptuous but if youre looking for suggestions at all, id recommend demian by herman hesse (and hesse's works as a whole) !!! its such a beautiful piece of gothic/classic literature that i dont think gets as much attention as it deserves :^)

aahhh late response omg i just got around to reading this one a couple weeks ago and I really enjoyed it!! definitely one that lingers after reading it, made me look up psychological concepts i haven't thought about since college lmao 😭 genuinely love books that feel like impending doom all the way thru and make you put them down intermittently to process it. kind of obsessed with the stream of consciousness style combined with very heavy(handed) symbolism and florid imagery that presents the characters more as Concepts and Feelings and Pictures than other people cuz it lends such an absorbing dream-likw sensation that i don't think would work so well elsewhere and I can appreciate a book forcing you to get absorbed enough to feel like youre waking up when you take your eyes off the page. like where am i. oh right

i plan to read more of Hesse's books, i had never actually heard of any of his titles before so thank you for the recommendation! :3

If the gap was shorter I’d avoid spoilers, but unfortunately I don’t have the patience to wait that long 😅 Omg I love the callbacks to Undercover, and I’m so mad I brushed off the title similarities as a coincidence instead of expecting a connection. I think the song is beautiful, her voice is so powerful and emotional! I like that there’s a lot of sudden tone switches (idk the right word for it, but she goes from singing gently/calmly to getting forceful and back). Her under, under in the middle always gets me ahh

I was going to make a post a while ago about Backdraft, how everyone else’s video focuses on their crime because that’s the main thing on their mind, but Fuuta is more tormented by Milgram itself – his video is equal parts Milgram as it is his murder. And so I think it’s really telling that Kotoko’s mind also isn’t as focused on her crime – a core part of her character is being on her guard and analyzing those around her. Even before her character was properly introduced in her vd, she appeared early to prove how close an eye she was keeping on the others. Harrow was about the tons and tons of dangers she was keeping an eye on, to the point it’s hard to tell which villain is her actual victim. It makes perfect sense that a peek into her brain at this point in time would be filled with the ins and outs of the prison, and her thoughts on everyone.

(Now, I’m just torn whether I want her video to show more about herself and her crime, or give us glimpses of the others in day-to-day prison life as she watches them…)

omg its so hard to pick a favourite...... theres one thats about like. extradimensional horrors (well, its based on a video game about them) that i vividly imagine an entire animated music video to every time i listen to it. the verses are like. hamilton-style rapping, where its fast and rhythmic and theres lots of wordplay and weird emphasis and just really interesting lyricism. if that makes sense. and the chorus is partially singing, partially chanting, and its all layered and spooky. im making it sound more creepy than it is, it is a little unsettling but its mostly just really fun to listen to. and the lyrics are by far the best part- theres some very vivid imagery, and the chorus is based around the most interesting wordplay ive ever heard. its so good. this song was top of my spotify wrapped last year i listened to it SO MUCH

Hello! I just finished all parts to Kicked Dogs, and I just needed to tell you how beautiful and truly human that story was and felt. All of your metaphors and descriptions left me honestly speechless. Comparing him to Atlas made me have to put my phone down during that scene just to breathe. And the way you wrote them bonding and the meditation scene on the couch was so so vulnerable and romantic and intimate and so much more meaningful than scenes in actual publishing romance novels and movies. And how you characterize Bakugo and HIS RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE OTHERS is so so heart breaking and beautiful and important and real. I haven't read any fics that had described the realities and trauma of their lives and them being heros and it was addictive and enthralling and so so sad to read about, it just felt so real. And I keep saying that lmao but really the way you write characters is so complex and nuanced and believable and it felt like every word and line and metaphor added to the bigger picture of who these characters were. I just know I'm going to be thinking about this series for a long time and will come back to it often, I'm simply obsessed and in love with how you wrote it and put it together. You add so many important layers to the characters that I don't even know if I'll be able to watch the new seasons/panels without thinking of them like this! Anyways, I just wanted to thank you sincerely for the hard work and effort and thought you put into this series. Even the title is brilliant. Thank you so much! (so glad you loved the sin x virtue gyu idea hehehe ^^ i love sharing stories, and these ideas are ones that could be standalone tales if i had the drive and time. thank you for your viewing ^^)

i come to you with a new thing to share! i call it 'patience and grace'. this is,,, one piece of work amongst a pile of them, a compilation, you could say. for this one (and it's VERY long, warning early on), i'll talk more about vernon's bit which is the second half of this story ^^ the reader's has a few touchy topics.

but! for some context, both have issues. yn's are tackled in the first half, and the patience and grace referenced in the title is vernon's own here. he's helping them heal and learn to love comfortably again, and the first half of the story ends after they decide to have a relationship that has no labels. they are whatever they (yn) want to be, basically.

the second half will be all about vernon from yn's perspective. (majority of the stories in this compilation do this, hehe. help one first before the other.)

and sure, he's chill, but then at-home study sessions turn into normal hangouts, and end with a movie they both fall asleep to. they studied for ten minutes before he suggested doing something else.

and sure, it's cute when he gets shy over a few kisses they pepper around his face, but they catch him staring minutes after it happens. the look in his eyes is there; he wants more of those. "they feel nice," he once claimed.

and sure, it's nice when a kiss lasts a little longer than usual. then hansol is the one to pull away, and they assume that it's for their own sake, which is fine. they're not ready yet either, but... it's something when they're both staring at each other's lips. the feeling in their stomach and heart is akin to fluttering, but that butterly gets caught in a net of 'not yet'.

the cherry on top is when some other girl comes to bother them, claiming that vernon is her boyfriend. and he actually looks like he knows her, and is uncomfortable around her. yn and the girl get into some petty dispute, and once she's gone, it kind of makes sense after an explanation; yn wasn't hansol's first relationship, and that it might be another reason as to why he said he didn't mind having a label on theirs. it wasn't only for them, but also for him.

it was, of course, alright to be a scared of commitment. but considering that (1) they were the closest to each other, (2) he literally looks at them like they hung the stars in the sky for him, (3) he's always been so patient and so kind and so close to them, and that (4) they were the exact same way with him... the two could get serious about this relationship anytime.

but seeing as this was a relationship that was so healthy, so balanced, so... pure, it was likely that he didn't want to 'ruin' it by taking it to a more official level. so now it was their turn to have some patience and grace, and his turn to get over some shitty exes that don't want to leave him alone.

i have zero idea if that flowed well or if it was even portrayed well, but??? i hope it was something, at least ^^

omg this sounds so ??? i love all of this so so much. even with the whole no-labels thing, i could feel the intimacy there, like in the most mundane moments between them. it's so touching how patient hansol is, helping y/n deal with their problems and helping them heal, and he is def the type of person to stare at his s/o like they've hung the stars like you've stated omfg!!! i love your little metaphor of the butterfly getting caught in a net of 'not yet' :(((

the whole fear of commitment thing is so real goodbye lmao. it's just beautiful how two human beings can look at one another like they're each other's worlds, how they can create such a universe of being together like a safe haven, how it's just so beautiful seeing love so quiet and unspoken, yet knowing that last anticipated step has to be conquered in order for something to truly blossom, despite all the fears that hold them back

Fanfiction Year in Review - 2022

I saw this that @icouldntfindquiet did and wanted to do one too! I put it under the cut as it got quite long. Here goes…

1) List of fics completed this year in the order they were finished:

I’ve only completed imagines as all my multi-part stories are still on-going, but I think these were all done this year (no idea of order):

Daddy, Wet (omg these titles I’m such a slut someone kill me now 😂) In Good Hands, Good Touch, Hungry, Heat, Tease, Incredible, Expectations, Pick Him Up From Heathrow, Skin to Skin and a fair few mini-fic/headcanon type things.

Not finished but multi-part stories I’ve worked on this year are Red, The Devil Next Door, Forbidden, I’m With the Band, Ice Cold, No Nut November and Never Have I Ever.

This has actually shocked me as I didn’t think I’d written that much this year but I’ve written about 70 things 😮

2) Number of words written:

This is hard as I’ve written so many different things but as each update/imagine is usually between 2-4k I’m gonna have a guess at around 200,000 words.

3) Your most popular fic:

It’s hard to say but I feel like Red gets the most love ❤️

4) Your personal fav:

I still love Ice Cold even though I neglected it completely this year 😭 Red would probably come a close second.

5) Your fav scene:

This year it would prob be the gig and then the elevator scene in Red (not just for the eventual and inevitable sex either I just liked how that whole thing came together with the tension between Van and Y/N and how she tries so hard to deny her true feelings).

6) A fic or scene that challenged you:

Probably Lyla waking up after her injuries in Ice Cold, I wanted to show a softer side to Van when he takes care of her. I liked how it came out though.

I’m really struggling with the angsty bits in Red too!

7) A line of writing you're proud of:

It’s hard to say as I can’t recall all the specific things I’ve written. I guess I liked these bits in Ice Cold though (and they’re more than a line!)

I’m not sure, every single comment or vote or read means the world to me, it really does. I have a silly tag for some lovely asks I’ve had that never fails to make me feel all warm and fluffy inside ha ha! 🥰

Seriously though I get my inspo from everywhere, anons/mutuals sometimes give me amazing ideas, just random scenarios I dream up, I must admit a fair bit of my inspo for Forbidden comes from NSFW tumblr posts! 🙈

10) Your proudest accomplishment (that one scene; finally finishing that one fic; posting your first fic; etc:

I think I’m just proud for still writing fics now as it was only ever supposed to be a little lockdown hobby. I keep going through phases where I think I’m done with it, but then I keep coming back!

11) Do you have any writing goals for the next year?

I hope to continue with writing next year as when I’m in the mood to write it’s so much fun! I know most of my stories are just silly and trashy but it’s just nice to escape into a little fictional world sometimes. I definitely want to finish Red and I’d like to get back into writing Ice Cold if I can. I’m not going to set myself any more goals as life is so busy I don’t have as much time to write nowadays.

I write in mostly lowercase, save for some names and proper nouns, and when it comes to grammar I probably won't use apostrophes in words that need them (dont, cant, etc)

When I first use the name of a character that's in my piece of writing, I tend to put their name in bold print the first time their name is said,,, especially in the beginning

Basically I just wing it and do whatever I think is right in my head

It helps me a lot better to write on the spot when the idea first pops in my head, because if I actually brainstorm, im going to procrastinate too much and ill write like a sentence, then it won't get done

Which is why I don't take/really hesitant on taking requests on this blog (save for mutuals) because I'll get overwhelmed with having to finish it and it'll never get done

So I just do what I think looks good to me, then i get opinions from two other specific people, and if they like it too, its getting posted

I like to space out my paragraphs and thoughts and stuff, too, or else my eyes will be all over the place trying to read because dyslexia is amazing/sar

I don't do titles. They're too hard to come up with, and most of the time, I'll be starting works with just the fic from the go

I can't do like abstract details, or go too into detail about any scenery or anything, but I can envision scenes in my head by inserting myself into it or having a two way conversation with myself, which i do anyway

Most of my stuff I'll end off with a little a/n under my dividers, too. My grammar is fine, I'd like to think, save for—as mentioned before—words with apostrophes and "i". I also don't really add periods at the end of a paragraph, unless it's drifting off into something "serious" or falls under the "angst" category ??? I cannot explain this omg BUT I do put periods nonetheless! Especially if I have multiple sentences in one paragraph eye eye eye

I'll start with two paragraphs before dividing it under the cut, and at the end I'll put my divider and put a silly little note, because I do NOT put a/ns in the middle of a fic, even if i get the urge to

i'm actually tearing up while writing this.. don't know if it's because my period is close.. or if it just simply means that much to me.

i said it way too many times; that sbw was the first story i read, written by you, but it's actually the first story i've ever read on this app. i'm proud to say that.

since then, i've read almost all your works, reread some of them many times, to see if that same feeling will come again, to be able to experience nostalgia and cry again.

and why do i love you? why do you mean so much to me? it's because i've never in my life, read something so lively💜 words can be used differently from one writer to another, and every writer has their own special way at describing, but yours is just different, in an indescribably good way.

i wish i could tell you other things, like telling you exactly how your writing makes me feel, but: 1) i can't speak english well 2) my mind has a lot to say but my hand can't even write half of my thoughts :')

anyways, in my freetime, i would open one of your works and start reading. in my bed, before going to sleep, and whenever i feel like i need something that's able to plant emotions in me - whenever i need to feel anything, anything at all.

i finally had the time to read cmi, but i also had to read the one before the latest, to catch up on everything and every detail. and here i am, after finally finishing it screaming, crying, and throwing up because of how good it was, because of how perfectly written this exact story is. i can't get enough of it! and i usually put my favourite parts of a chapter in my asks, but i just can't possibly put the whole chapter here👏🏼🤭💓

but the emotions this particular chapter holds, the yearning.. their suffering, love and everything in between 🥺🥺 i wish fictional love was like realistic love, i wish half of the type of love that you write was even close to real life💔 you make me believe in things i shouldn't believe in. but i also wanna convince myself that it is actually real, it might be, right?

another thing.. the little details? even the title!! you work so hard and i can see it so clearly💜 god i hope you publish your books someday! humans must see your talent. they must see how letters can be turned into something so beautiful.

I’m answering this mostly with the timeframe when they were still together in mind!

1 and 26 already answered here~

3. What was their first impression of each other?

I’ll go with their first time meeting again as teenagers! I think it has more depth vs the one where they first met at the lake as kids.

Heimdall hated her! She was this fake ass mean girl (with oh so beautiful big blue-green eyes) who was trying to manipulate everyone into liking her. This was partly true tho. She would give compliments she did not actually mean, ask questions when she did not actually care, etc.

Ylva thought that he was a bratty, arrogant know-it-all that not even his handsome looks could salvage his terrible personality. (She was right.)

4. Who initiates affection? Why does the other not initiate affection as much?

Heimdall. Since he’s very perceptive, he could feel if Ylva wants to hug him, hold his hand, or kiss him. They’re both touch-starved people, but Heimdall knowing that he won’t be rejected by her makes him initiate affection more.

7. How often do they say “I love you”?

Outside the bedroom? Rarely— as in, you could count the number of times with one hand. In the bedroom? That phrase is used SO much. Like. They get so drunk on each other that they don't even care even if it's embarrassing teehee

11. How do they feel about nicknames/pet names? If they like them, what pet names do they use? If they hate them, why do they feel that way?

They always use different nicknames! Heimdall would call her “Queen Bee” or “Miss Charmer”. She just rolls her eyes at him. Ylva would call him “Asgard’s Biggest Toddler” or “Pretty Boy”. The latter is the oldest one and it gets Heimdall going skajds. He fucking LOVES it when she calls him that. Like, they’d be arguing and shit but if she uses that against him that will make him shut up for a second mwahahaha

They also call each other “love” in private! <3

12. Do they have a difficult time when separated from each other, or are they fairly independent?

Independent. They both value their jobs and trust each other to make time for one another. They have the same threshold with regards to time passed before one starts truly missing the other, so that helps too.

14. Do they enjoy PDA, or are they more private with affection?

They never do PDA. They like to keep things ‘professional’ when out in public, with their titles and all. But if you watch them long enough, you’ll see him put his hand on the small of her back for 0.2 seconds before removing it or them chatting and squeezing each others hands before going on separate ways. Eir (Ylva’s closest valkyrie friend) once confronted her about this, but Ylva just answered “that’s how you say goodbye in greek actually” or something askujdhasjkldhn

Despite their extremely minimal PDA, everyone and their mothers still assumed knew that they were together!

17. How well do they communicate? Are they open with their feelings/thoughts or more reserved? Why?

Very, very open! to the point that they fight a lot lmao. Mostly petty fights but still. They talk to each other a lot, but they’re both lacking on HOW to talk to each other, which lights up their incredibly short fuses.

27. How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?

THERE’S TOO MANY BUT She cooks and prepares food for him when she has the time. Heimdall got matching ear cuffs made for both of them (she teased him by saying he was just too afraid of getting his ears pierced, but she wore the cuff nonetheless). If they’re hanging out by the lake, he puts flowers in her hair while she sleeps on his lap. When they’re both in Gladsheim, they always make it a point to eat lunch and/or dinner together.

36. How do they feel about having kids? Are they in agreement?

They never really talked about it. Heimdall feels like it’s natural to have kids in the future— that’s just the way life goes. On the other hand, Ylva is afraid of having them. She feels like she won’t be a good mother.

44. Do they cuddle often? Why or why not?

They sleep in separate quarters (Heimdall in the Great Lodge, Ylva in the near barracks) but when one decides to visit the other and sneaks into the other’s room (they’re like teenagers help), they always end up cuddling.

45. How do they support each other? How do they rely on each others support?

Regarding their jobs: They trust and respect each other’s abilities. Worrying a little too much is insulting for both of them. So they show it by letting each other do their own thing.

Life, in general: They rarely had any (outside) problems when they were together (their living our best life era™️ tbh). They don’t have the healthiest relationship and while they do communicate a lot, they do not open up or aren’t even aware about their own trauma. They don’t really know how to comfort each other with words, so they support each other through actions. When Ylva is down or just plain tired, Heimdall would invite her to the lake, read to her while massaging her scalp until she falls asleep on his lap. On the other hand she would cook him his favorite food and bring it to him above the wall, where they could eat Alone Together in silence. +++forehead kisses before they go back to work c:

Not really. They were in a good place then, and they were just… living in the moment(?) The next step was marriage and to have a family, but they both thought it was too early to discuss that.
