He’d woken up in the hospital with his mother fretting over him like he’d nearly died, and she didn’t let him forget it for at least a month. The difference between then and now, though, is that he’s currently handcuffed to one of the lifts in what looks like an old-ass auto shop. There’s an Oldsmobile on the other lift, with some kind of hose set up in the window of the driver’s seat. He tries to follow the hose and see where it leads, but he’s on the passenger side of the car, and his view’s pretty limited. He has a feeling it’s probably connected to the exhaust, though. Well, at least he’s sitting down. “You know,” he says casually, watching the man who snatched him pace, “this was a really stupid idea. But we can still fix it.
