The Bonds That Bind Us
I started this book in late 2016/early 2017, and it has been through so many iterations before finally becoming what it is now.
When I first published this book in 2018, it was impulsive and unfinished; I was just so excited to have written a novel people might buy.
Now, I'm at a stage in life where this story (all three parts of it) have helped me heal so much of my own trauma and hurts, and I want it to do the same for others.
For everyone who doesn't have a family, who has found family, who are dealing with trauma and the shitty things life has to throw at us.
To the survivors and the ones who refused to give up. The ones who shouted fuck you to the people who told them they'd never amount to anything.
Whether you pay for this story or get the free, kindle unlimited version, I want to thank you for giving it a chance, and for supporting me. <3

From The Bonds That Bind Us (Draft 4)
Unsure as to whether it was the alcohol taking affect or not, he was about fifty percent sure that, stood before him, was the marble-etched, tattooed Adonis that was Luke O’Neill, the most beautiful actor Jackson had ever witnessed with his own eyes.
And then the man spoke, and the illusion was shattered. The Irish accent he’d been expecting had been replaced with a New York one instead, much to his disappointment.
“Sorry for scaring ya, babe.”
The man leaned against the bar, Jackson immediately noticing the stark differences between him and Luke, not that he’d ever met either of them. Scrutinising was probably the more accurate term for what he was doing, and he wasn’t being subtle. The nose was all wrong, the eyes were too narrow and a completely different colour, his arms were not covered entirely in ink; he could go on.
Tagging my babes @verba-writing @mikathewriter @offworld-lamb and anyone else who fancies sharing their amazing work <3

He could wander the streets for a while, until he knew his father would be asleep, but doing that whilst looking like the gender-confused love child of Stevie Nicks and Davey Havok was asking for trouble.
Just wrote this about Jackson and, in the six years I've been working on this story, I have never described my beautiful androgynous boy more perfectly.

Too much info dumping?
[Opinions wanted! This is a quick bit from the prologue]
When he’d taken those first big boy steps into the fashion industry as a stylist, he’d had so many big plans and aspirations; moving out of his abusive family home into a cute Manhattan apartment, working his way up the ranks until he was finally a designer, marrying the most handsome man in New York City, and being happy. However, everything had all gone decidedly tits up very early on.
The pay for his services was well below what he had expected for the incredible work he offered, as well as painfully slow; he also had to work under someone else which was infuriating.
When he had finally saved up enough to buy a crappy little place to live, he realised that, if he left, who would look after Carlos? Carlos was the baby of the family, despite being nearly eighteen, but Jackson was the one who cared for him, made sure he was fed; hell, he’d basically raised the kid! Jackson had made the tough decision to stay put until Carlos was old enough to move with him, and he had the money for a suitable apartment, no matter what it would cost him physically or mentally.
On the dating front, he didn’t even want to bother; every man he met on Grindr turned out to be an asshole. They were either only after sex, or disappointed with Jackson’s obvious androgyny; it wasn’t something he made secret, his Instagram was plastered in photos of him in all his gothic glory. There was only one man in New York Jackson would even consider marrying and like that was ever going to happen.

To continue to KDP drama, apparently I asked for my account to closed down in 2019, FIVE YEARS AGO, and apparently they can't reinstate it, despite me asking.
I can, however, make a new account with a new email address.
Thanks, Amazon 🙃👍

I just messaged my favourite booktuber asking if they'd read my book! Not to be in a video or anything, just because their opinions on books means a lot to me. Nervcited.

AUTHORS NOTE
[I didn'd have one the first time I self-published this book (far too soon and before I was ready for the world to see it). However, because of the subject matter, I felt it should have something this time. Feedback would be appreciated, lovely moots <3]
The Bonds That Bind Us is a story of love, healing, and found family. However, for healing to happen, something must have occurred first to need it.
Trauma is something that far too many of us go through and is more common than people think; 50-70% of people will experience some kind of trauma at some point in their life.
Jackson’s story isn’t an easy one to read but it’s a beautiful one filled with hope and growth if you are willing to go the whole journey with him.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Abuse (physical/mental/emotional), suicidal ideation, self-harm, homophobia, death of a secondary character; PTSD/depression/anxiety, religion, familial estrangement, etc.
These are real things that people go through every day. They’re hard to read about, but it’s important to read things that make us uncomfortable and upset. It’s how we learn.
This story has been a work of love, six years in the making, and I’m so grateful that you have chosen to read it. I do have plans for this to be a trilogy, however it can be read as a standalone.
Thank you, dear reader, and never be afraid to be yourself.

Lifting his glass with a forced smile to the handsome bartender, Jackson sighed. What a terrific birthday this was turning into. A beating from his father in the morning, crying and solitude until dinner time, and now he was drinking alone at his favourite bar whilst his former friends were partying excessively loudly in the VIP area. This fallout was so petty but once Queen Ginny had decided you couldn’t sit with her, there was no going back.
