The Seven of Cups tells me what’s definitely on the cards this year: challenges and accomplishments which each in their own way will shake up any inclination towards complacency My hopes for 2023 are in the hands of the Queen of Pentacles. Her advice to me is to stop worrying. All too often a tendency to fret distracts me from what needs to be done depriving me of satisfaction I get from the work I love. This theme finds echo in the Seven Coins. Within it lies meaningful purpose and bounty through Nature’s Gifts. The XV Devil challenges me to transform the fears that bind me into the audacity to go beyond what I know, learn new skills, explore new experiences. When stuck, says the XII Hanged Man, consider this pause as an opportunity to review options from another angle. Am I swinging in the winds of exterior influences or am I steadfastly aligned to my values? So we come to the needs of this old heart of mine. XIV Temperance, my dearest ally, always at my side to a reminder of the importance of Citta, the balanced alignment of Heart and Mind. Looking closer I notice a resonance in the upside down position of the star in the Devil and the Hanged Man, reminding me of a phrase by Rudolf Steiner, quoted by Dr Malte Hozzel in his book Man and Plants, An Ancient Alliance: “Man is a plant turned upside down" The Hanged Man and the Devil’s star both have their energy anchored not in Earth but in the ethereal realm of consciousness. The message conveyed by Hozzel is that to take care of one's roots is to take care of one's consciousness. Aromatically, this suggests the importance of root oils, such as Ginger or Vetiver, as a source of support when I’m navigating through any stress and disharmonies ahead. I have only read 2 chapters but it’s mini stories with cats in them and they are so magical and heartwarming , not to mention it beautiful portrays the life of people living in Tokyo !
