Harnessing your intuition with intention and control. Making connections quietly. The Sun. Joy, enjoyment of life and all its beauty. Your life in bloom. Enjoying your day in the sun. Fruitful relationships. Divine intervention or presence of deities/the angelic. Signs that you are doing what you are called to. Enjoying life for you, as opposed to living to make others happy. Being grateful for what you have. Shining because of your talents and happiness. Hierophant. Lifelong lessons and commitments. Wisdom. Mentorship, tutoring. Finding the answers that you have been seeking. A strong foundation. Spiritual protection. This spread is a trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit in a sense. It shows the bright resplendence of unity. Living rightly or in balance between your light and dark sides, or inner and outer worlds. Having learned from prior experience, even if you didn't share those lessons with anybody else. The act of maturing, or going from a chaotic life to a pleasant one. Enlightenment, sudden mindset of understanding. Meditating on happy moments. The warmth you get from feeling you are in alignment with your purpose.

I don’t know how everyone feels, but when I first was drawn towards reading tarot, it really freaked me out. My only other exposure to tarot was my bio mom, and the only thing she ever said about it was how evil tarot cards (or any other type of ‘fortune-telling’ is.) She had told me that you could predict death and how irresponsible that was to tell people when they were going to die. The thought of pulling a Death card and having to tell someone that they were short for their time on Earth really scared me, and I never ever wanted to read tarot cards because I was afraid of what I would have to tell someone.

Of course none of this was true, but as a kid you only know what your parents tell you. And even though as an adult, I knew this wasn’t even remotely how tarot cards work, I still had this crazy reservation when it came to cartomancy. So getting over the fear of reading was a big deal for me and ultimately for moving forward in my practice.

Releasing past fear with tarot

If you’re just starting to become curious about tarot cards, it is important to release your past expectations. You might have had a similar experience to me and have associated Tarot with a lot of fear. If that’s the case, remember that tarot cards have nothing to do with anything bad or evil. They are just an intuitive tool to help manifest your clairvoyance or inner knowledge. They can help you connect with your higher self and even reveal what lies underneath the shadows.

You don’t need to be gifted your first tarot deck

There is some sort of myth that I’ve heard that you have to be gifted your first set of tarot cards. And maybe once upon a time this may have been true. But if this was the case now, I would have never started reading tarot. You don’t need to be gifted your first set of tarot cards, in fact, it’s more personal if you look around and choose the tarot deck you feel most connected to.

Try checking out decks online first

When beginning to look for your first tarot deck, start online. Type in tarot card decks on Amazon or any other online book realtor. There are so many types of cards and artists, see which ones you are drawn to and feel a connection with. The better the connection you first feel with your tarot cards, the more likely your readings will be accurate and attune to you. Try visiting some local book or occult shops, so you can view some decks in person. Sometimes seeing them in person instead of online can help you decide which ones are right for you.

Different decks for different things

Different tarot decks will sometimes have different feelings associated with them. For instance, one deck might lean towards feeling more relationshippy and another one is really spot on with digging deeper into situations. When you start reading tarot, you’ll start to see different ‘personalities’ develop for your tarot decks. This is natural as your intuition grows and evolves, and you begin to associate different decks with different thoughts and feelings.

Raider Waite is a great first-timer deck

In the end, if you’ve looked around online and visited a few different decks in person and still can’t decide, it’s best to start with a basic Rider Waite tarot deck. This deck is sometimes called the grandfather of all tarot decks. Published in the early 1900s by A. E. Waite and Pamela Coleman this ‘original’ tarot deck is a great place to begin your tarot journey. Each card is very symbolic and associated with elements and zodiacs that can help your interpretations. Look at the symbolism of the cards and most importantly how each card makes you feel.

Whatever tarot deck you decide to choose, remember that your tarot practice is personal, and your first tarot deck should be something you decide for yourself.

DECKS: Ethereal Visions Tarot | Cosmic Slumber Tarot

Ha ha this was an odd reading. At first, I had a hard time shuffling the Cosmic Slumber Tarot. I kept uttering how it was being unruly. Then two cards kept coming out and it wasn't making sense. I put them away figuring the deck was being uncoperative.

A few hours later after a good workout. I asked to borrow one of my sister's decks. ( She likes to collect but not read so much). Though the same thing started happening with here two at a time. So I was like okay this is on purpose.

Turns out the reading is about my family and our move back home to our home state. I decided since it wasn't the deck just spirit doing this. I was fighting the flow with the need to do a spread. Anyways, my sister was there with me and decided to jazz up the picture with crystals. She also has a lot of crystals.

hi everyone! been a bit since i posted on here last. i have been working through a tarot course online and listening to a tarot podcast pretty much obsessively and i thought i should try to revive this blog a bit. i really enjoyed sharing my readings with you all. i was thinking in the future i might start offering free readings occasionally again! so keep an eye out for that.

tonight i did a three card reading for myself- past, present, and future.

the first card i pulled, strength, represents my past. i have felt a strong connection to this card recently. last week or so i set it as my phone background so i have spent a lot of time looking at it and pondering its meaning so it is interesting that it comes up tonight. in the recent past i have had to rely on a lot of self-discipline and maintain my composure when faced with inner struggles.

death is the card which represents my present, suggesting a change is happening within me. because of its appearance after the strength card, i consider death to represent some sort of psychological growth. i am releasing negative thoughts which no longer serve me and am coming to conclusions about my life that were hard to reach before.

my future is represented by the queen of wands. this card suggests that i will come closer to seeing through my creative visions, which is a very welcome message as i am thinking a lot lately about who i would like to be as an artist. the queen of wands tells me that i will be determined in my pursuits and will be able to follow through.

DECKS: Influence of Angels Tarot | Magick of You Oracle SPREAD: (Modified Past Present Future)

I usually don't do a reading too close to one another. Though I've been filling the need to practice. My querent didn't want me to use her reading as an example. So once again, I will be posting a personal reading. I will probably have to make a spread layout sheet for this soon. Though this is a personal reading with Tarot and Oracle. Tarot Cards are blunt and will tell you exactly what you need to know and will go down. Oracles tend to be softer and tell you more about the situation on a spiritual level.

The image above is the tarot spread I used first before pulling out some Oracles Cards to help clarify the Past, Present, and Future of the spread and what I need to know.
