RINGING YOUR LINE  (CTY)
ex-turned-bf!taeyang x gn!reader
SYNOPSIS: The breakup was almost a year ago, but he still can’t forget you. It’s very much expressed through the song he produces and posted out of impulse, secretly hoping that you’ll listen to it.
WORD COUNT: 3K.
WARNINGS: hinting that the reader is a cold person (even though they’re not), one cuss word. In the song, the artist uses the she/her pronouns but the reader’s gender is never specified. Not much tbh but it can be a bit emotionally draining. Mentioning Shota as the MVP friend (thx q 💪🏻).
INSPIRED BY: LESSON (โค้ชลงเล่น) BY YUNGTARR.
A/N: well…. I’m not so proud of writing these short stories instead of working on the ones for my series but my brain is not working. Also I deeply apologize if the translated lyrics are not correct. I use google translate for it.
reblogs, comments and likes are appreciated!

In the dimming room of a small studio room, there sits Taeyang, whose headphone is glued to his ears while his eyes cannot tear itself away from a folder that has only one song in there.
He is hesitating, rather more anxious than anything combined as he clicks on google, then looks at the opening tab, displaying his YouTube channel with over 360K subscribers on the site of YouTube studio.
He knows it’ll be a bad idea, a terrible idea even. His mind screams at him to not do it, but the need of expressing his honest feelings is eating him up.
Normally, when his friends ask him how he has been doing, he’ll simply answer with the usual ‘I’m fine.’ but he knows he’s far from being okay. The breakup with you has been hard, even though it was a mutual agreement that you guys are better off not being partners and parted ways on neutral terms that is. Everyday since then, he feels like he doesn’t want to live anymore because he regrets that decision so much.
 He should’ve stopped you.
Just like how he should’ve stopped himself from uploading the new song onto the YouTube channel where you can obviously see that. Heck, he thinks you’d think he’s weird for still being unable to get over you.
But too late for that as the new video ‘THEO - Ringin’ Ur Line (Official Audio)’ being posted and he just sighs in defeat, realizing that he makes such a fool of himself with the way he didn’t think of making the video unlisted or even private before it uploads onto the account.
And at the same time, you’re mindlessly scrolling through some apps when you see a notification from the channel called ‘THEO’ uploading a new song pops up on the screen. As much as you pretend not to care, you click onto it, ready to get your heartbroken, knowing that he most likely will never mention or even talk about you in his songs.
Who would get over someone who makes music and especially a catchy one anyway?
But what surprises you is the fact that he makes the song and sings with his own voice in this one, mainly because he’s a music producer. Although his appearance screams very ‘celebrity-like’ due to how good looking he is, he claims that he just wants to lead a normal life with no pressure that comes between his personal life and professional life. He chooses to work behind the spotlight and produces some of the greatest hits for well-known names in the industry. Never once does he put his own personal works out like this.
 So what changes?
You sit up to hear the lyrics and observe the song more carefully.
และสุดท้ายรักมันคืออะไร baby เธอตอบฉัน
And finally, what is love? Baby, you answer me.
You scoff at the thought of him having someone new he might be possibly singing about. Clearly, he wouldn’t really sing about you, would he?
บทเรียนสุดท้ายและครั้งที่สองเธอไม่พลาดพลั้ง
The last and second lesson, she didn't fail.
You wonder what he could possibly refer to. What does he mean with this exactly? Love lesson that gives him the kind of pain that is unforgettable?
It’s your cue to go because it’s not even about you.
You feel pathetic for ever assuming that it was about you, the person he sang about. You feel foolish and you’re mad at yourself for that. The cold wind doesn’t help much with warming your body either.
Somehow, you continue to listen because of the charming lyrics and melodies.
เธอตั้งใจทำอย่างนั้น
She did that on purpose.
เธอตั้งใจให้ผมเจ็บ
She intended to hurt me.
You wonder which girl really hurt him and how she managed to do so. Deep down, you wish to have the same effect that whoever did to him in this song.
You sigh as you continue listening.
baby เธอเองก็รู้ว่าใจดวงนี้มันสามารถซ้ำ
baby, you know that this heart can repeat itself.
เธอหยุดได้มั้ย baby ถือว่าผมขอร้อง
Can you stop, baby? Consider that I'm begging you.
Taeyang looks at the time on his phone and realizes something, he’ll forever sit alone and let you slip away from his life for good if he didn’t do something tonight.
He needs you in his life. He needs your love. He doesn’t want to continue to imagine the way you could only say those ‘i love you's' that his brain could only replay of the way you said it so much in the past that it deeply engraved in his mind like a clockwork.
He doesn’t want his heart trembling at the way you look so beautiful in the well kept polaroid of you two in his wallet anymore. He is done with torturing and lying to himself.
Grabbing his car keys, he impatiently waits for the engine to start working and looks around for the blind spots to make sure that the parking spot is empty before driving away.
pretend ว่าตัวผม strong
Pretend that I'm strong
ในสิ่งที่ทุกๆวันขณะในใจผมเจ็บขนาดนั้น
For something that every day in my heart hurts that much
He stops at a flower shop, owned by one of his good friends, Shota. Shota has a talent in rearranging flowers, although he wouldn’t need to utter a word for the customers to roll in because he’s adorable. Taeyang remembers that his first flower ever given to you was from Shota’s flower shop and now that he wants to reconcile you both, he figures that he should do that too.
He pants, upon the hurried travel to his friend’s store. Shota eyes him blankly, but continues to say nothing, waiting for the other person to speak first.
“I need a flower that says forever love. Not roses, obviously.”
“Was that for Y/N?” He questions, although he already knows the answer.
“How do you know that?”
“You can pretend that you’re fine and be strong for our sake, although you’re not really. You still think of them.”
Was the pain so obvious that even Shota, who normally just doesn’t comment and not caring about things most of the time can see?
He really realizes that you’re his better half.
And as for you, you find yourself relating to the lyrics he sings in this song. You truly dislike how reflective it is to your state of mind because you’ve been pretending you’re strong and you’re not hurting everyday.
Both of yours and his heart are aching for one another, wanting to belong as one again.
แค่เห็นที่ต้องเจ็บซ้ำ
Just seeing it hurts again.
เป็นเธอไม่มีสายใยแม้ไม่มีเธอเองก็ไม่ต่างกัน
It's you, there's no connection, even without you, it's no different.
There’s something you can never admit to your friend or anybody else. You’re ashamed to still confess out loud that you’re thinking of your ex boyfriend and that you read both of your text messages with each other.
You can’t understand it. Why can’t you get him out of your mind if he’s not exactly the most ideal man there is?
You sigh, it’s truly unpleasant to be having these late night thoughts where it betrays what you stand for.
Similarly to Taeyang, who also does look at the text messages you both shared, but with a different thought.
He used to take you for granted, but with you gone, he realizes that he had a gem but he was too blind by his own insecurities.
And if there’s no you, then nothing will make sense to him anymore.
“Hyung, your flower is ready.” Shota places the flower on the table, in front of where Taeyang keeps zoning out. The producer grabs the flower, amazed that the younger florist chooses pink asters, knowing that it represents eternal love, innocence and devotion for a person you deeply care about. He then stands up, slams the 10$ and 20$ on the table and screams out before exiting the shop.
“I know you’re gonna charge me 25$ but just accept 30$. Keep the change.”
Shota just shakes his head, sighing before going back to work.
I think about everyday, baby we used to talk.
Now you run away.
But baby I'm still walk.
Driving as fast as he can, he makes it his mission to place his vehicle in a place he knows it all too well. Nighttime has never looked more unexpected and almost scary to him because he can’t predict what is going to happen next. He can only hope that the music he mistakenly and might be posted under the influence of his idiocy conveys what he truly feels about the seperation.
Just only a month and 19 more days until it’ll be marked since a year you both break up. But yet in those days before it approaches, you occupy his thoughts every day and night.
Frankly, you’re the first and last thing he thinks of every single day.
He’s thanking the universe that he didn’t just crash and die right here with the way he’s speeding to you.
คิดถึงแต่โทรหาไม่ได้
I miss you but can't call.
อยากจะเรียกเธอมาช่วยเชียร์แต่ว่ามันทำไม่ได้
I want to call her to cheer me up but I can't.
Whenever he’s having a hard time, he wants to call you. But he can’t.
Whenever he’s happy, he can’t also call you.
And whenever he thinks of you, he can’t do that because you guys are not together anymore.
He wants to hear your voice, soothing his worries or cracking some jokes and laughing out so delightfully.
This trip to your house might be the last time he’ll get to see you. Or his wants will finally be granted.
Baby เธอต้งใจ broke heart
Baby, you accidentally broke my heart.
You’re supposed to hate him, with the way he sings in this song. This line, a particular line, just like he said, it accidentally breaks your heart into pieces too.
You’re gritting your teeth in anger, were you never that important to him?
Had he never loved you enough that his heart could possibly break at the thought of you, of this too?
Were you the only one feeling this way?
You feel really start to resent him. God, what a fucking scumbag.
The love has never been reciprocated, so why can’t you let the thought of him completely slip out of your mind?
ย้ายความเจ็บปวดเข้าไปที่ broke heart
Move the pain into a broken heart
It’s only around 10 minutes, if without speeding up, until he’ll be at your door, making a fool of himself, without knowing if you still want him back. He doesn’t know if you’re seeing someone new. Because if you do, that flower in the passenger seat that he is meaning to give it to you will be left to rot, as a proof of his undying love.
He doesn’t think that he can ever move past the pain of not having you if the rejection comes through.
I'm still ทิ้งลงถังมันไม่ได้ baby
I'm still can't throw it in the bin, baby.
ทำลงไม่ได้ baby
Can't do it, baby.
Standing in front of the trash bin, you’re facing the most difficult of your life; whether to throw or not to throw every polaroid of you both together.
The song keeps playing, you’re holding 6 polaroids of you and him, which are taken on his birthday. There was a whip cream on his nose that he didn’t bother to wipe before taking the photos because he wanted to look cute and have fun, which you let him. It’s one of the fondest memories, out of every celebration you both had done together and you’re about to throw it away.
But your hand freezes, gripping onto those small pieces of pictures a bit too tightly.
And what happens if you throw it away? Would it only exist in your memories now with no physical evidence? Is that what you’re looking for?
And would you be happy to only have events that exist in your heart now?
What good would it do if you do anyway? You’d still continue to see the ghost of him everywhere you turn.
You can’t throw it away, you really can’t.
มันตัดใจไม่ได้ baby
I can't get over it, baby.
He can’t get over your smile, your voice, your personality, humor or you.
He almost feels sorry for himself that he acts like this, let alone letting you know how he feels.
It’s what he thinks as his car has come to a stop, safely parking itself in an open space era. He then opens the car door, holding the flower bouquet to his chest before closing it and locking the car door.
Something in your mind tells you to stop standing still and keep the polaroids hidden away if you’re not gonna throw it, burn it or even destroy it.
So you listen to your guts as you gently tuck your upper lips, anxious and confused on why did you back out on it last minute.
You know the answer way too well to that question. But you didn’t want to accept it.
เพราะผมรักจะตาย baby
Because I love you to death, baby.
“Ding!”
Your doorbell rings, startles you out of your trance when you’re so busy putting the polaroids back into a hidden box.
You’re confused on who would come to your door this late at night. It’s almost midnight, just only roughly 19 minutes to be exact as you look at the time displayed on the digital clock.
A gut feeling tells you that you might need to open the door as it’ll reveal the answer to everything you’ve been hoping for.
You’ll regret it if you dont.
Most importantly, you’re hoping it’s him who is behind that door, ringing your doorbell, asking you to be back in his life. But you shake your head at the ridiculousness before you stand up, taking slow steps to get to the door. Your palm grips tightly onto that doorknob, not knowing if you want to do so.
และสุดท้ายรักมันคืออะไร baby เธอตอบฉัน
And finally, what is love? Baby, you answer me.
Is the last phrase you hear before your phone dies. You sigh as you twist the doorknob and you’re met with the man you thought you’d never get to meet again.
Choi Taeyang standing in front of you. With a bouquet of pink asters in his hands.
He wears a white sweater for tonight, a casual look but it makes him look almost breathtaking because he is simply the most beautiful guy you’ve ever known. He looks anxious, not knowing what to say at first as he hands you the asters and you gladly accept it.
“Did you hear my new song?”
The question catches you off guard. Because what game does he want to play now?
“I do.” You nod, face lack of any expression, opposite to the male in front of you who looks unsure and almost on the verge of tears. You can sense the anxiousness radiating off him but you choose not to ask about it.
“Well- what do you think about it?” He looks at you, hoping you’d respond to it differently than you do now, because it’ll kill him if you continue to be standoffish like that.
“It’s nice.”
“The song… it’s about you.” He confesses, observing the way your eyebrows quirk in confusion and the gleam in your eyes that plead him to almost repeat whatever he just said.
“Ever since we broke up, it’s never been easy on me. I want to call you so bad but I know you wouldn’t pick up those calls. Every day that I live, the memories of us haunt me so bad, it’s like you intended to hurt me and to make sure that I’ll never get over you. It’s lame that I can’t move on and I’m still in love with you. And now, here, making a fool of myself, asking you to be mine again.”
You stare at him, a bit dumbfounded and losing yourself in the moment that all of this happens in real time and it’s not your imagination anymore. You let each of the phrases that escape his lips sink into your mind and process itself into your brain as you can only admire him, no words being exchanged.
Taeyang is scared, preparing for your rejection already as you go absolutely silent. He could die right now, if not for the fact that he hasn’t heard the final word that determines whether he’ll continue to live in misery or start a new chapter with absolute happiness.
“Y/N, please say something. If you’re gonna reject me, please do it fast!”
“Idiot, I never stopped loving you.” Your face breaks into the biggest grin he has ever seen and every tension and worry just completely escapes from his body.
He takes a step forward to hug you, losing himself in your embrace. He misses your love, your warmth. His home, his livelihood all just connects back to you as he feels like the happiest man in the world.
“Thank god because I thought I’ll live with regret for my entire life.” He mumbles, feeling so content by the physical contact for the first time in months. You try to gently peel yourself off from him, he pouts at you sadly, pleading to be in your embrace for a little longer but before allowing that to continue happening, you scold him.
“Get off of me! What kind of house owner would I be if I let my guest stand outside for this long.”
He smiles, showing off the adorable eye smile that you love so much.
“Is that your way of inviting me inside?”
He teases you back, taking off his shoes as he observes you and every corner of your living space, happy to have you back in his life again.
“Oh shut up before I kick you out.” You give him a stern stare, with your now boyfriend trailing behind you to chill in the living room. He only grins at you teasingly before responding back.
“Fine.”

kangjuni: Flowers; a letter.
To Teddy, Kush, Vince and Hunseol. Thank you for working your magic on this album. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you all, and hopefully we can do it again in the future! When I approached you three with an idea, I had no idea it would turn into something this big. 감사합니다!
Ducky, my big bro! Working with you is like a dream come true, ten year old me would be over the moon.  Jay, even though we've known each other since 2005, it has taken us this long to actually collaborate. Can you believe it? Charles, you're one of the most talented people I know, never let anyone take your spirit.
To my brothers, Seunghyun, Daesung, Jiyong and Youngbae. Look at us now. I'm so proud of what we've achieved, and what we're going to do in the future. The first day I met you all, I had no clue how I was supposed to work with four boys, but I'm so glad I stuck it out. Seunghyun, our wine dates kept me going through this creative process - the hangovers not so much. Daesung, my smiley brother. You cheer me up even in the darkest of times, though I do wish you'd wear more than just socks when you play the drums! Jiyong, like you've led BIGBANG through hard times, you've helped me so much personally. Thank you for all your advice, though it really should be me advising you! And Youngbae. You helped me with this album, even when you were completely sleep deprived from dealing with my nephew. Thank you for letting me crash on your couch, steal your food and steal your son when I'm craving auntie/nephew days.  I love you all so incredibly much. BIGBANG is forever.
To my fans. This album is for you. It's a love story, a romcom, the perfect glass of wine, a warm bath on a cold day. Thank you for supporting me from day one.
And finally, to my husband. Nando, this album wouldn't have happened without you. You've supported me through everything - my brothers joining the military, hiatuses, creative slumps and crazy fans - and I don't know what I would do if you weren't firmly in my corner. You've given me a fair few heart attacks throughout our relationship, and you continue to do so, but that's what I love about you.
Always yours,
Kang Juri.

I look at you like you're perfect for me
☆ characters: half-dark elf!theo & you ☆ genre: dark fantasy au, soulmate au ☆ warnings: mention of blood, violence and death, manipulation, slight mention of self-hatred ☆ summary: having a soulmate sounds like a fairy tale, doesn’t it? too bad that yours could have been easily written by one of grimm brothers or the queen of dark fairy tales, @dat-town herself ☆ words: 11,2k ☆ also: just like every year, this soulmate au was written for my own soulmate, kathy ♥ the tenth year of our friendship brought along a lot of changes; and i’m immensely happy to know that there is no such thing in our relationship as too much distance between the two of us. thank you for sticking by my side through all these years, starting from my super awkward high school years, and please, stay with me for five times this many (and even more) ♥
Tumblr media
There had been a time when you had hated yourself for being born the way you were: without magic. However, shortly after your twentieth birthday, when the Dark Elves came knocking on your door, this rare deficiency - that less than one hundredth percent of the population had the misfortune to experience -, was what allowed you to survive when your village went up in smoke. You see, your people lived in one of the most lavish and dense forests of the Northern Kingdom. Even with magic running through your community’s veins, you stood no chance against the flames. Many died before they could have even thought about running.
Not that abandoning their roots helped a lot of people. Because the Dark Elves were ruthless just as the stories suggested and killed everyone who bumped into them on their way towards the border of your village. Gender or age… neither of those mattered. Once they sensed your spiritual core, the magical energy deep in your soul, there was a target on your back and their soldiers never missed aim.
The bile was burning your throat when you heard yet another body fall on the ground with a loud thud a few steps from behind you, but you willed yourself and kept running. This time the screams were louder; they came from a lot closer and it terrified you. The implication that you would be the next.
However, that arrow, you were so sure was meant to pierce through your heart, never came. It was as though they couldn’t see you. As though you were completely invisible in the open while people who tried their best to lay low lost their lives due to their stalling. You couldn’t grasp what was happening around you, but to be honest, you didn’t have time or spare energy to ponder over the reasons and theories. You needed to get as far from the chaos as possible before your weak legs gave up.
You had never been too athletic. You were driven by your sheer will to survive.
You weren’t sure how long it would take to get away from the stomach-churning screams and the distinct sound of wood burning; however, you had to be a lot deeper in the forest than you had ever been in because the awaited sense of safety didn’t embrace you as soon as you entered the realm of Mother Nature. You had to keep running. You had to keep moving forwards even when your feet hurt and your lungs begged for a break.
You didn’t stop until your body was physically incapable of moving. And then… Then, you crawled behind a thick trunk to placate your aggressively beating heart.
The Sun was already peeking through the trees by the time you more or less managed to regulate your breathing and came up with a semi-well-thought-out plan. Obviously, as much as you wanted to see your family, you couldn’t have just gone back to your village to look for other survivors. You didn’t have any weapon on you to fight your way though an army, any experience in close combat other than those playful fist fights you had occasionally had with your neighbors or magic to rely on against other magical creatures. If the Dark Elves were still around, you would have died the moment you set foot in your home.
However, your chances might not have been that horrible if you hadn’t been alone. If you had had other people backing you up while fighting back against the Dark Elves. Therefore, what your next move should have been was clear: you had to find the nearest village and see what was going on there. Had they been spared by the monsters who had chosen the most peaceful moment of the night to destroy your home? Had they been already slaughtered? Would they have been the next victims of their conquest?
Either way, you had no time to waste.
So despite the tiredness in your bones that became more significant after the adrenaline left your body and the minor injuries you had obtained during your escape, you pushed yourself into a standing position and headed east. You had never visited any of the neighboring farms and villages before, but you were a regular at the market, so you had met many vendors from the area. You had heard stories about their families, about their lifestyles and homes, hence you knew where to start looking for people who might have actually been willing to lend you a helping hand. There should have been hunters on the other side of this forest who would have felt for you and your family. They were more empathetic than lone farmers around the western regions.
Following the Sun, grateful for its guidance, it was easier to disregard the pain in your feet, caused by the cuts and bruises on your bare soles, than you would have initially thought. You had never been a warrior, after all. What wasn’t easy to shut out, however, was the grumbling of your stomach and the feeling of emptiness in your gut. When was the last time you had eaten? You were pretty sure you hadn’t skipped dinner last night, so why? Why was your body demanding food so desperately while numbing the pain?
Your mind was switching between daydreaming about your mother’s roasted sweet potatoes and the pictures of your loved ones falling on the cold ground like sacks of rice, hence in no time, you felt like you could have thrown up the minute your mouth touched anything edible. You were so damn hungry, but all the death and suffering that lingered in your mind made it hard to digest that you were still alive. Why were you still alive?
Your steps faltered then came to an immediate stop when the unmistakable sound of horses trotting somewhere in front of you registered in your brain. Your heart was in your throat as you looked around in panic, trying to find a place where you could have hidden. A bush that was dense enough to hide your figure, a hollow in one of the thicker trees, a branch low enough for you to use as leverage, so that you could climb on the top. Something. Anything.
In the end, you did come across a branch that you could reach on your tiptoes, so you quickly ran towards it and used your momentum and the sturdy trunk underneath your feet to aid your above-the-average muscles. You pulled yourself up on the tree and hugged the trunk in hope of blending into your surroundings.
A voice inside of your head - a gentle yet teasing tone akin to your beloved older sister’s - scolded you for breathing too loudly and staring in the direction of possible danger, so you swallowed down your fears, willed your body to comply and closed your eyes like your father had taught you during the first and last hunt he had taken you on. You remembered how ridiculous he had sounded to you when he had told you and Nobara that every creature could feel it when they were being watched. You, for that matter, had never experienced such a thing during any of your hide-and-seeks with your friends, but your sister had paid a lot of attention to your father’s instructions, so you had mimicked her serious expression.
Despite your best efforts, your father had never taken you on a hunt after that one occasion. For months, you had been sulking, convinced that it had been because he could have seen the skepticism in your eyes. Later, your sister had told you that he had only been worried about you because at that moment he had realized that you truly couldn’t sense other creatures’ watchful eyes without magic.
Life without magic had always sucked.
The tingles came unexpectedly. At first, it was as though tiny needles were pricking on your skin, but later, as your rational thoughts resurfaced, you realized that was hardly possible. So you thought the sensation came from tiny insects creeping under your clothes, and you prayed that they weren’t poisonous. You were without your loved ones, you felt miserable for sure, but that didn’t mean you wanted to follow them to the afterlife in case they were already six feet under.
You gulped and resisted the urge to lift your hand and scratch your nape. You willed yourself not to open your eyes.
However, as the seconds ticked by, it became significantly harder to stay still. You had never been a hyperactive person - you loved spending time at home, helping your mom and reading in the barn or on the field -, but at that moment, there was this slowly growing urge inside of you that made you want to reveal your hiding place. It encouraged you to climb off the tree, and it scared you how your nails had to dig into the trunk consciously, so that you wouldn’t have given in to this irrational temptation.
‘Keep heading west. I’ll catch up with you,’ you could hear one of the riders send away the rest, making you wonder what his reason could have been for both staying behind and staying alone without any backup.
You wanted to sneak a peek at him so much. Your hands were trembling as you held onto the tree desperately. What was wrong with you? Deluding yourself into thinking that you were out of harm’s way just because he was alone was the worst thing you could have done. This rider could have easily been one of those who had attacked your village the previous night.
Your arms jerked and your hands let go of the trunk when something big and warm landed on your shoulder. You could have pinpointed the exact moment you lost your footing and your body fell forwards, then towards the cold ground underneath.
You could phantom the pain that was surely about to come with the collision, but you did not feel the crash. Instead, your bare feet touched the grass gently like you had been floating on your way down and your balance was supported by two strong arms that enveloped your torso. Those palms that appeared on your hips were big and warm. Familiar in a way you had a hard time to explain.
‘Aren’t you gonna open your eyes, little one?’ The same rider asked you with a pinch of playfulness to his voice that immediately disarmed you despite your better judgment. A part of you was still aware that you knew nothing about this person. Your concerns and worries and fears were still there, somewhere in the back of your head. They just didn’t seem to reach you when you needed your survival instincts, your defenses the most.
Why else would you have called him out on the nickname he had chosen for you instead of on how he had sneaked up on you and endangered your life.
‘I’m not little,’ you sulked, linking your arms in front of your chest, which later you realized was only proving him right. You acted like a little girl, but you couldn’t have decided whether it had been already too late to back out. Should you have held your chin higher or let your arms fall back by your sides?
Indecisive, you let your body posture stay the way it was, but stopped pouting to lessen the spoiled brat attitude.
‘U-hum,’ the lone rider hummed out, taunting you with a pout similar to the one you had just abandoned and simultaneously urging you to fight back. However, you didn’t have any good retort and even if you had had any, the words would have stuck in your throat the moment your eyes met his ash gray orbs. He looked breathtakingly beautiful.
Inhuman.
‘Like what you see, little one?’ The rider teased, and that alone would have earned a scoff from you if you had been able to close your mouth while you were taking in his appearance.
The boy didn’t look older than twenty-three; his complexion was pale as though his face was lit up by the Moon even in daylight. He had fair hair that fell into his face and ears as sharp as needle ice. He was an elf. There was no question about it and yet, your feet made no attempt at putting the well-needed distance between you two.
‘Are you without a horse?’ His more reasonable question pulled you out of your head and you nodded on instinct, although admitting that you had no means getting away from him might have been a mistake.
It seemed like you were making one poor decision after another in this stranger’s company. Who was he anyway? And why did it feel like he was someone important to you whom you should have kept close?
‘Are you heading west?’
‘East,’ the truth fell from your lips easily as if you weren’t in control of your own actions, and in a world where magic was more common than people without power, the possibility shouldn’t have been brushed off as quickly as you had just done so. It was just… as soon as the thought could have formed in your mind, your heart rejected it without hesitation.
‘Do you mind if I take you to the nearest village? The forest isn’t the safest place right now,’ the rider reasoned and a part of you wanted to ask how he knew that the area was dangerous, but before you could have parted your lips, he had already taken your silence as a permission to touch you.
The boy’s palm was warm against your skin; his fingers fit around your wrist like a bracelet. Your body followed him towards his horse with minor protest. You didn’t come back to your senses until you were standing in front of the mighty animal and your company took his hand off you to fix the saddle, so the horse could carry the both of you.
‘I… I didn’t say that I’d go with you.’ You took a step backwards. You still didn’t sound too eager to turn your back on him, but it was a baby step towards the right direction.
Why did you have to remind yourself that you didn’t know him? You knew that you had no idea who he was and what his intentions were with you. You were completely in the dark regarding his reason for sending the rest of his group away and you were also unaware whether he had known about your presence when he had done that.
Not to mention that he was an elf. That in itself should have been a good enough reason for you to run in the opposite direction. Yet, you stood in one place, with your chin held up high. Your breath hitched when your eyes met for the second time.
‘You didn’t say you don’t want me to take you there, either,’ the elf exclaimed, his smug grin both annoying and charming - a thought you would have liked to bury deep in your mind, so you could have never accidentally blurted it out. ‘You want to stay here alone?’
You didn’t. You didn’t want to be alone.
‘You’re an elf. My village has been destroyed by elves,’ you forced the words through your gritted teeth as you simultaneously fought the tears in your eyes. You shouldn’t have shown weakness in front of a stranger. You shouldn’t have cried and mourned your family when you hadn’t known for sure that they were gone. They might have made it. Just because your sister had told you to run and she had stayed behind, it didn’t mean that she had failed to find a way out of the chaos.
You didn’t notice that you had balled your fists or that your arms were trembling due to your frustration and anger until your eyes fell on the rider’s face and you noted that he was staring at your hands. You relaxed your fingers immediately.
‘Did I destroy your village?’ He asked a tad tentatively and you gulped when you picked up on the sadness in his voice. You hadn’t meant to offend him. Yet, it was hard to convince yourself that if he had seen the shoe fit, it had been absolutely on him.
You felt like an asshole.
‘I mean… I don’t know for sure,’ you mumbled under your nose, looking at everything but him, so the unexpected tightness in your chest would have eased up a little. ‘Did you?’
The rider scoffed, but didn’t call you out on the bluntness of your question or the rudeness of the implication behind your words. Instead, he took a step further from his horse to encourage you to climb on the animal.
You bit into your cheek from the inside, waiting.
‘I’ve just arrived from the east with my group,’ he stated, his words aligning with what you had seen and heard mere minutes ago. The noises had indeed come from that direction, while your home had been located in the opposite way. Even on horseback, it sounded unreasonable that they would have taken such a huge detour just to get ahead of you and fool you.
Without magic, you were no match for their kind.
You looked down at your bare feet littered in cuts and bruises, then shifted your gaze to the horse. It would have been a lie to say it wasn’t tempting; however, letting the elf take you to anywhere was really the good choice?
‘Are you a dark elf?’ Another blunt question, another wave of guilt that washed over you the moment the last word had left your mouth. Since when had you been so concerned about a stranger’s feelings when your safety was at risk? He could have been as easily related to the monsters who had killed your people as…
‘I’m a half-elf.’
You sank your teeth deeper into your flesh. The pain in your body had been bearable before. Your feet had been numb and your wounds superficial. You could have made it to the other side of the woods on your own. A part of you was even determined to do so, so why… Why were your feet dragging you towards the horse?
‘Good girl,’ the rider complimented you when you climbed on the horse on your own, then got on the animal behind you, keeping you stable with his arms around your body.
You swallowed down your nerves.
You tried to swallow down your nerves.
Surprisingly, the journey towards the closest village was spent in calming silence. The only sounds breaking the tranquility were one of Mother Nature: the light breeze playing with the withering leaves, the foliage getting crushed underneath the horse’s hoofs, mosquitos and other insects buzzing into your ears.
In hindsight, you should have picked up on the telltale signs and known that something was really, really wrong when no birds or squirrels came out of their nests, but you weren’t as experienced as your other family members were when it came to the neighboring forest. So obviously, it hit you in the face when you arrived at your destination and it was also burned to the ground, just like your home. If it hadn’t been for the half-elf, you would have fallen off the horse due to the shock that shook you up quite badly. Just a week ago, you had been talking to this old man from this village at your market, promising him to buy an extra sack of potatoes from him if he introduced you to his grandson.
Now, they might have been both dead.
‘Hey, where are…’
The rider’s question didn’t register in your mind as you jumped off the horse and ran in a random direction, calling for survivors and looking for anyone who might have needed your help. It took you less than twenty steps to bump into the first half-burnt corpse and seven lifeless bodies in total to find the old man.
Overwhelmed, you didn’t realize how much the sight affected you until your knees hit the ground beside the man and your head crushed into a firm bundle of muscles, albeit less roughly.
The last thing you heard was the rider’s voice before your brain shut itself down.
Tumblr media
Later, when you woke up, your wounds were dressed in clean textile and your head was put on something soft that gave enough support to your neck to not be in pain despite the hours you might have spent sleeping on the ground. It had been still pretty early when you had reached the other side of the forest; however, based on the blinding sunlight that shone down on you at a sharp angle from the sky, now, it had to be way into the afternoon.
What had happened while you had been out? Had there been any survivors? And where were you exactly anyway?
Where was the ri…
‘Good morning, sweetheart,’ a distinctly familiar, deep voice greeted you, and you made the mistake of trying to get in a sitting position as soon as possible to look at the half-elf, letting out an involuntary whine in the process. Hell. The middle of your forehead was throbbing; you felt so dizzy as if you had a head injury. Had you gotten hit on the head or something? You seriously couldn’t remember.
Your confusion must have been written on your face, because the next thing you knew, the rider crouched down in front of you and picked up a torn textile from the floor. Then, he rinsed it in a bowl of water and pushed you on your back, placing it back on your forehead.
‘You accidentally hit your head when I put you down, so that I could look for something to eat,’ he explained with an apologetic smile, the expression making it obvious even for your smashed brain that it hadn’t been you, per se, who had hit your head, but him who had been too careless.
You didn’t call him out on his wording, though. Mostly, because he had carried you to a safe place and stayed with you regardless of being strangers. In spite of your rude questions and open distrust. He hadn’t been obliged to protect you after you had accused him of killing your loved ones, but he had still done so. To you, this spoke volume.
‘Would it help if I told you my name?’
The question made no sense to you. Why would it have helped with anything if you had learned the rider’s name? And with what exactly did he think you needed help?
On the other hand, would knowing his name have made anything worse? You could have pretty much stopped referring to him as a rider and a half-elf in your head, which might have actually taken less out of your already drained brain power. Hence, you nodded (and hissed when it triggered yet another mini explosion behind your forehead). Ouch. That hurt.
‘Theo. My mom was a maid at the Light Elves’ Court in the south,’ he introduced himself, although the revelation that he was one of the creatures known as the least worse out of all monstrous magical beings did add to your guilt. He might not have been a good guy, either, but he wasn’t out there, killing thousands of innocents, either, and as bad as it sounded, that was already more you could have wished for.
So you told him your name in exchange and what had happened to your village the previous night, leaving out the teeny, tiny detail that the reason you could have run away was the lack of magic rushing through your veins. You didn’t have any proof.
Not to mention, saying that aloud could have still put you in danger - a voice akin to your mother’s warned you quietly.
After the most crucial pieces of information were shared and there was a semi-solid base that your acquaintanceship could have been built on, Theo brought up some lighter topics to ease the mood while you were munching on berries and rose apples. They might not have been as delicious as your mother’s kimbap rolls and chicken salad, but they were filling and that was all that mattered.
‘You should rest some more. I’ll stand guard,’ the rider reassured you and covered your upper body with his jacket before you could have protested. And you were grateful for him. You were grateful that he didn’t give any chance to your stubborn ass to claim you weren’t tired. Because you were. You were so exhausted, sleeping a couple more hours sounded exactly like what you needed.
‘Hn,’ you gave in with a low hum, enjoying the phantom touch of his fingertips against your skin and in your hair moments before you fell asleep.
Tumblr media
Your initial plan to look for help at the nearest village, obviously, had been thrown out the window. However, it wasn’t like you could have just given up and not do anything. You had to find your family - or at least their remains if that was all that was left of them - and you couldn’t have possibly done that alone. You still needed people. You still needed survivors. Warriors. Anyone with weapons and will to kick elf asses.
You also needed a companion. And Theo was offering his help to you on a silver plate like he had nothing better to do despite those elves he had sent ahead - those elves he had promised to catch up with - right before your encounter. It was weird but appreciated, and you weren’t exactly in the position to look the gift horse in the mouth.
Thus, you made a deal: he would stay with you until you found a village that was spared by these monsters and in exchange, you promised to tell him those details he knew you had left out of your story about the massacre. It sounded like giving out nothing for everything, but you guessed, everyone had different values. What wasn’t valuable to you might have been a treasure to someone else.
You got on horseback a day after you had woken up after fainting from overstimulation and traveled from village to village just to meet more destruction than you had ever seen in your life. Honestly, before the night you had been separated from your family, you couldn’t have even imagined something so brutal. The fire wasn’t even the worst part. It was the smell of roasted flesh and the sight of those personal belongings that had somehow survived. The first time you had seen a pile of ash next to a half-burned doll, you had been crying for minutes for a child you had known nothing about.
Losing hope was too easy. It took you no longer than a week of constant failure and you felt like you didn’t have it in you to keep going. What was the use? You had gotten further and further from your home and still had no army that could have challenged the elves. Not to mention how hard it had become to work up an appetite with the stink of death in your pores, your hair and your clothes even after taking a bath in a stream or lake (depending on what the two of you came across in the afternoons). In short, there was no use and you had no energy to start a fight.
A magicless one-man-army had no business to start a war. It would have made no difference if you had just given yourself up. In fact, that might have been less embarrassing.
‘What’s making you so conflicted? Your forehead is all wrinkly.’ Theo sat down by the fire beside you, his rough fingertips trying to smooth out the furrows on your forehead, around your eyes and between your eyebrows. You pressed your lips together to suppress a whine. It was exhausting, thinking and talking about your feelings. They were so negative and draining these days.
You let out a sigh, watching over the fish you were roasting on wooden sticks.
‘Do you think what we’re doing is useless? As far as we know, the Dark Elves could rule the whole kingdom by now,’ you voiced out your second biggest fear, too scared to bring up the possibility of your family’s death. Talking about that would have made it real and a stubborn part of you refused to believe they hadn’t made it.
Could there have been a safe haven out there somewhere for those who had survived? Were there others trying to accomplish the same goal as you, albeit with more success?
‘I’m pretty sure we’d know about it if they took control over the whole kingdom, sweetheart. Don’t worry your pretty head about them. Let’s concentrate on finding an unaffected village,’ he slid his fingers to your jawline, tapping on your cheek once, twice, three times before he pulled your head against his chest.
Instead of complaining, you buried your nose into his loose shirt, sniffing his characteristic, musky scent that made you feel safe. You wanted him to be right so much.
‘I don’t know what I would do without you,’ you mumbled under your nose when the silence stretched too long, giving in to the urge to close your eyes and get lost in his closeness. The warmth of Theo’s body enveloped you like a fluffy blanket on an unforgivingly cold winter night.
‘You would be just fine,’ the rider insisted, and you appreciated his faith in you, even though a voice in your head insisted that the only reason he said this was how little he knew about you. He had no idea that under the pseudo-confident, stubborn facade you were weak. You had been born weak and being sheltered by your entire village, you had never gotten the chance to grow strong.
You didn’t even know which berries were edible in the woods.
‘I really wouldn’t,’ you admitted defeatedly, closing your eyes and taking a few shallow breaths as an attempt to gather enough courage to speak the truth. If Theo had really meant what he had said, that meant he hadn’t yet figured out that you couldn’t have backed him up in a fight in case you had come across danger. It wasn’t fair to him that you kept him in the dark. ‘I don’t have any magic. Nothing. I was born without an ounce of magic in my body.’
You wished you could have taken back your words as soon as they fell from your chapped lips. It scared you, the rider’s non-verbal reaction: his arms coming up around your torso and pulling you impossibly close. Why wasn’t he saying anything? You needed him to say it, to say something, even if that something was a scolding or a series of profanities.
‘Theo?’ You tried to pull away to be able to look him in the eyes, but his hold on you was too strong, and you barely managed to tilt your head backwards to at least see a bit of his jawline. It didn’t seem tense, which gave you hope that maybe, maybe his silence didn’t mean that he was angry with you. Your confession must have rendered him speechless, that was all.
You bit into your lower lip, counting to ten, fifteen, thirty in your head before you decided that enough was enough. You needed him to come back to the present instead of stucking in his head.
‘You know…’ you started, not quite sure what you could have said that would have made the situation better. ‘I might be a deadweight, but I think you make me stronger, so it’s not like it’s as bad as it sounds,’ you explained, playing with open cards as you should have done from the beginning. Or well, from the day you had made that deal about staying together.
At that point, you were so worried about what could have been going through the half-elf’s head that you got a tad taken aback when he gave you enough space to look up at him from a more comfortable angle.
‘What do you mean?’ He asked, confusion written all over his face, which would have made you giggle if the tightness in your chest hadn’t been so suffocating. Should you have told him everything or only a fragment of the odd things you had experienced in his closeness these past few days? Would he have believed you if he had heard the truth or deemed you crazy and left without a second thought?
You gulped, your throat suddenly resembling parchments. It was time to tear off the bandaid, wasn’t it? You had simply said too much to back out.
You gulped another time to steal a couple of seconds in which you pathetically failed to put yourself back together, but it was fine. At least, you told yourself that you would have been fine if he had just packed up and left. Sure, it would have taken a lot of time, but you could have gone back to your village on your own and started the search all over again, going in a different direction.
‘I don’t really know how to explain it, but you remember the first time we met?’ You asked, absentmindedly fidgeting with his loose shirt. ‘I could feel your presence, and while I’m sure it’s not a big deal to you, to me… it was a first.’ Out of nervousness, you casted your eyes down, but didn’t stop talking. ‘The other day, when I was at the verge of a panic attack and you told me to calm down, my heart listened.’
You sounded crazy, deep down you knew you did. Because what you were describing was the bond that your parents shared, what your grandparents had shared when they had been still alive and what those who were blessed to have a soulmate shared. Although you lived in a world where magic was real, complete soulmate bonds were almost as rare as your kind. So to have one while not possessing the ability to practice magic, it was unfathomable.
You wouldn’t have blamed Theo if he had thought you had lost it. Because what you were implying included things you obviously hadn’t experienced, only had heard from stories. For example, the reason why your parents always knew when the other person was in danger, felt happy or needed a hug. Soulmates, after all, shared feelings and had the ability to comfort each other without as much as touching or being in the same room.
‘What? You say I’m your soulmate?’ The boy teased and it would have been a lie to say his lighthearted question didn’t hurt. Was it that unbelievable that you could have been destined for each other?
Well… it wasn’t like you were a hundred percent sure about it, either, but still. Was his soft chuckle necessary?
Whether it was your sour facial expression and pouty lips or something more special, Theo seemed to be able to sense your bitterness and cupped your cheeks with his hands. He looked you in the eyes for long enough to make you feel shy and with that, to make you surrender. As a soft whine escaped your mouth, you leaned forwards and buried your face in the crook of his neck where he let you hide.
‘You’re cute,’ he mumbled against the crown of your head, nosing your hair as he slid his hand back on your waist. You stayed like that for a few moments, soaking in the silence, but not as long as you would have preferred.
If you had done that, the fish would have definitely burned to ashes on your wooden sticks and you would have both been left without food for the rest of the night. There was no way Theo could have caught more of them so late at night even if he was an amazing hunter and a determined provider for the two of you.
And if you had hated your dinner for stealing the half-elf’s embrace from you, you made sure your body language didn’t show it. Which meant, the only way Theo could have known it was if he had been indeed your soulmate. And that was impossible, wasn’t it?
It was time you stopped believing in fairy tales. Miracles didn’t happen to people like you.
Tumblr media
It had been around a month that you had run away from the surprise attack that had destroyed your home, and you had yet to come across a village that would have been willing (or able) to help you fight the Dark Elves. With the help of Theo, you had successfully worked through each and every one of your episodes; nowadays, you didn’t feel frustration when your eyes fell upon half-destroyed houses and corpses that had turned unrecognizable after the vultures had had their feast. You still felt sadness, of course you did, but not to the point of breaking down and it might have been a small step to an outsider, but to you, it was another proof that the half-elf’s presence made you stronger.
You were convinced that there wasn’t anything you couldn’t have overcome while he was near you.
However, to your misfortune, the rider couldn’t be near you all day every day. For example, he was in charge of hunting for food and looking for water and your company slowed down both of those processes. As it had turned out, your incapability to sense life mixed with your loud footsteps turned you into a human-alarm for the animals in the area.
You were so focused on setting up the fire for the fish Theo had promised you for dinner that you were completely oblivious to the monster who appeared at the border of the forest you used as a potential hiding place in case of emergency.
You yelped when something sharp and pointy was held to your neck. The adamantine blade barely touched you, but you could feel your blood lazily dripping down your skin. How you got yourself in situations like this all the time, that was beyond you. All this time, you had been convinced that Dark Elves couldn’t have cared less about your existence and yet, here you were, about to be slaughtered by one.
You could only wish Theo wouldn’t come back to your makeshift camp before it was over; your heart ached just thinking of him getting killed because of you. Because you were so weak, you couldn’t have even used the woods to your advantage when the half-elf had told you a million times why it was smart to stay close to the trees. Why couldn’t you have done at least this one thing right on your own?
‘Where is he?’ The monster groaned into your ear, his warm breath tickling the sensitive skin right under your ear. You didn’t like the fact that he was talking to you. It felt humiliating, like he was playing with his food as you were pretty sure he didn’t intend to let you go once you answered his question.
You choked on your saliva when the elf grabbed your hair and pulled your head backwards. His blade grazed your neck and with that, left another wound behind, only a few inches under the first one. It was deeper, bled more, but your loose shirt soaked up the blood diligently.
‘I asked you a question,’ the monster spat, forcing you to look him in his sharp, silver eyes. His skin had the same glow as Theo had, but in his case, pretty and beautiful were the last things on your mind when you tried to read his facial expressions. ‘Where. Is. H—’
You didn’t realize you were screaming until a pair of strong arms pulled you away from the dark elf and familiar, calloused palms cupped your cheeks, redirecting your focus. With utmost gentleness, Theo wiped away your tears and pressed his lips against your forehead, not letting you go.
‘I’m so sorry, sweetheart,’ he mumbled against your skin right before he pulled away and assessed your injuries. ‘I’m so sorry,’ he repeated, sliding his right palm on the cuts on your neck tentatively.
Theo’s magic coursed through you; however, it didn’t hurt like it did when your neighbors’ son used his power on you, nor did it resemble a strike of electricity such as when your sister healed your wounds. The half-elf’s magic was warm like a blanket. It not only took care of your injuries, but also comforted your soul.
Admittedly a little light-headed, you let Theo pull your head against his firm chest and keep you there while you were looking out of your head. Somewhere in the back of your head, you knew that there had to be a dark elf nearby, or at least the remains of such a creature. Slowly but surely you could recall the knife that had pierced through the monster’s abdomen while you had been still held at blade point. The main reason you had been screaming hadn’t been the shock, but the pain you had felt in your side…
You dragged your hand to the area that you remembered should have been in pain and pulled away from Theo in panic when you could feel the hole in your shirt. You looked down and saw that the fabric was red. Yet, when your fingers finally sneaked under the textile, they touched nothing but smooth skin. You furrowed your brow in confusion.
‘How?’
‘I healed it. There was no other way, but I healed it as soon as I had you in my arms,’ the boy claimed and you looked up at him, lips parted in wonder.
Maybe, you should have been mad at him for putting your life at risk without hesitation. The old you would have definitely screamed anyone else’s head off for less than this and still, as you looked into his worried eyes, that were desperately searching for forgiveness, you reached out to his face and smiled up at him.
‘Thank you. For saving me,’ you whispered like a secret and brushed a silly, stubborn mop of hair behind his ear at the same time he did the same to you. It made you giggle despite the horrific happenings and upon hearing your laugh, Theo’s eyes lit up like a birthday cake.
With what had you deserved someone like him in your life?
With what had you deserved to be alive in the first place?
‘I’ll always save you,’ the rider declared, pulling you in his lap. It was then that you actually noticed you had been both sitting in the dirt all along. It was also the first time that your gaze fell on your attacker’s corpse lying behind Theo mere meters away from you. You pressed your chin into his shoulder and shut your eyes. The whimper that escaped your mouth was unintentional. ‘Shh. I won’t let anyone take you away from me. I promise you. No one can hurt you.’
You wanted to say thank you over and over again. You also wanted to reassure him that you knew you could trust him with your life and today’s happenings hadn’t planted any doubt about him in your mind. He had saved you; how he had done it, what path he had chosen did not affect your opinion. You had long made peace with how cruel the world really was. You couldn’t have afforded to see it only in black and white anymore.
‘Theo…’ The plea that broke out from your throat sounded pathetic even to you, but the rider didn’t seem to mind it or find it as ridiculous as you did.
No, when he put his index finger under your chin and encouraged you to open your eyes, all you could see was determination on his face. You assumed he wanted to prove it to you that he meant every world. He hardly had any other reasons to look so hell-bent at that moment. Maybe the way you phrased your reassurance hadn’t been as fierce as you had intended it to be. It might have come out hesitant due to your shock.
‘I mean it. You know why?’ You didn’t know why, but you didn’t shake your head, nor did you voice out your confusion. Of course, you had assumptions such as the deal you two had made, but somehow, saying out loud that you were a contract to him felt so wrong. Especially after he had saved you from a dark elf instead of looking in the other direction. ‘Because I care about you,’ he confessed, casting a metaphorical spell on you with how he wetted his lips after the last word fell from them.
You couldn’t look away. You couldn’t move. But if you wanted to be honest, you didn’t want to either. Especially when Theo destroyed the distance between your lips slowly albeit steadily, and you could taste yourself on his tongue as he licked into your mouth with ease. The kiss you shared wasn’t eager. He didn’t rush you or push you too hard. He let the moment drag out, then allowed your lungs to fill themselves with fresh air before he dived in once more.
Your lips tingled by the time you stopped kissing and your heart was dangerously close to an explosion. If you hadn’t known better, you would have thought something wasn’t quite right with the heightened reaction it pulled out of you, but you were aware that it was merely the consequence of your inexperience. You had never been kissed before; but you were glad that Theo could be your first. Your second and third.
You lost count of how many times he captured your lips before your stomach demanded some of his attention, too, and reminded both of you of the fish he had promised you.
That night, the half-elf called your lips his dessert when the dinner was gone.
Tumblr media
A lot changed after that day; meanwhile, it felt as though you came across the same, hopeless sight whenever you stumbled upon an area that should have been populated: piles of ashes, half-burned houses, death. You didn’t know how it was possible that every time you chose a direction, you ended up at a dead end; however, you couldn’t deny what was right in front of you. You couldn’t deny the lack of survivors and all that misery.
‘Maybe we should go back west?’ You asked after you arrived at another abandoned village. You admitted, you hadn’t been thinking about your family that much nowadays, but the sight of what was undoubtedly a hunter’s hut reminded you of your father, and your longing for him, your mother and Nobara returned with great intensity.
Why were you still marching towards the eastern border when you had wanted to turn back a week ago? Did you have any reason to believe that they had come so far from your home without you?
‘We should go east like we agreed on,’ Theo protested, and while his voice was gentle and the kiss he pressed against your lips light as a feather, something inside your chest felt tight as you nodded.
Oh. How could you have forgotten that you had agreed on that direction because of… What was your reason for heading east? There must have been a reason, a good one on top of that, otherwise, you wouldn’t have said yes. Why had you said yes? Suddenly, going east made no sense.
But then, Theo took your hand and pulled you towards his horse. He stole one more kiss from your lips before he helped you climb on the animal, and the two of you galloped in the previously agreed direction. East.
It took the doubtful voice inside your head a couple of miles to quiet down, but when it did, it became easy to lean into Theo’s body and let him guide you towards your next destination. If it hadn’t been for the dizziness you felt whenever you closed your eyes while riding his horse, you might have fallen asleep in his arms; his closeness was that soothing to you by that point. Or was it the soft melody he was humming into your ear that effortlessly calmed your nerves?
You wouldn’t have been surprised if your acceptance had been a result of both. Or the love confession that was oozing from every gesture he made.
The thought that something was really wrong with how pliant you were in the half-elf’s arms somehow didn’t cross your mind even when your eyes fell on the military camp near the eastern border. What you felt instead while you were getting closer and closer to the huge, black and silver tents was confusion. Did Theo not realize that these were the colors of the enemy? Of those creatures who had destroyed so much already and might not have planned to stop until your whole kingdom was in ashes.
At the first sight of actual dark elves in the area - a part of you hoped until the last moment that what you came across was an abandoned camp -, your body became tense and all you wanted to do was run away.  However, with Theo’s arms around your petite body, it wasn’t as easy as it should have been. Couldn’t he see what you were seeing? Shouldn’t he have felt their presence?
‘Theo, I really don’t think we should keep going,’ you spoke up eventually, your voice barely above a whisper. ‘Maybe they haven’t seen us yet. It’s not too la—’
‘It’s okay, just calm down, sweetheart,’ he cut you off while simultaneously turning you into jelly with his hot breath fanning over the juncture between your neck and shoulder. Even though you pressed your lips together in mild frustration, your body immediately shrank to a smaller size, hence the rider’s chin on top of your head caged you in that much more.
You still felt safe in Theo’s closeness, but it was different somehow. With all those elves suddenly having their eyes on you, with the cogs in your brain spinning at a restless speed, you couldn’t put your finger on what was so off. After all, as far as you were concerned, fear and anxiety were natural reactions to danger. Then, it hit you: as you were helped down from Theo’s horse, your heart wasn’t at the verge of a panic attack. Why wasn’t your heart about to explode? You two had no chance against a smaller army of powerful magic users.
You had no way out now that so many of them were aware of your presence in their territory. Hell, you had walked into their camp like you had the right to be there.
You curled your fingers and let your nails dig into the soft flesh of your palms. Why was your heartbeat so slow?
You didn’t have too much time to dwell on it, though, because the next thing you knew was Theo’s calloused fingers in-between yours and a strong pull that demanded your attention. Oh. You were walking more into the camp.
‘Taeyang. It has been a while,’ a beautiful woman… No, a beautiful dark elf exclaimed with little to no enthusiasm, her gray eyes loitering over the rider for a couple of seconds before they fell on you. You gulped, and she dismissed you with a frown. ‘You have never shown up at the northern frontline. Is this your reason?’
This. Not you, not a human being, not even a magicless creature. This. The elf couldn’t have made it any more obvious that you were worth nothing to her.
You resisted the urge to take a step back and hid behind Theo’s back. Instead, you stayed still and quiet in hopes of not drawing too much attention, although it must have been too late already. The crowd around you was big enough; you honestly doubted there was anyone in the camp who wasn’t witnessing the happenings. The tense conversation between this beautiful woman and Th… Taeyang.
Why did this new name hurt you so much?
‘Only partly, my queen,’ Taeyang said as soon as he went down on one knee, leaving you exposed to the spectators and making you feel unprotected. Your hands were shaking, but not as much as they should have and your damned heart was still at ease as if it had been on a silly mission, trying to please the rider next to you. ‘She is a survivor of the massacres in the forest villages. No one other than me could feel her presence while we passed her by even though she is not good at hiding. This ability is a threat to our plans. I apologize. I had to investigate before sending words to you, my queen,’ the boy explained and his words should have crushed you, but you couldn’t feel the heartache as though your heart was incapable of anything else but remaining calm.
The woman gave you another once-over with a bit more interest this time.
‘She is still alive. Did you not find the answers?’ She inquired, her white locks falling into her face as she put her elbow onto the armrest of her chair and rested her chin on top of the back of her hand. She looked so bored while she was asking for the reason why you were still alive.
‘She means no threat, my queen. In fact, the reason why she managed to escape is that she is so insignificant, our kind completely dismisses her existence. There is not even a drop of magic in her body,’ the half-elf explained before he quickly added: ‘However, she is obedient. She is my slave now.’
‘Are you sure it’s not the other way around, Theo?’ Someone from the mass asked and it did not take too long before your eyes found the golden-haired dark elf who dared to interrupt the conversation between Taeyang and the unamused royalty. He radiated annoyance and pride as he walked up to your trio. ‘Because I saw you protecting this human and killing your kind. Like a lapdog, waiting for their owner’s treats and compliments for doing such a good job.’
The golden-haired elf scoffed and spat on the grass right in front of the rider’s feet.
‘I see.’ It was the queen talking, dismissing the second elf with a simple wave of her hand. If the circumstances had been different, you would have admired her for the power she held - up until that moment you hadn’t even known the Dark Elves had a female rules -, but the situation was everything you would have rather avoided and you had no respect for anyone who talked about human life the way she did. ‘Let’s see how important she is then.’
For the first time in hours, your heart skipped a beat in panic, and you wondered whether it was deliberate or if it was your own anxiety at all that you were experiencing. Why would your heart have suddenly decided to act up when it malfunctioned during this whole drama? If anyone, it should have been Taeyang who felt scared and jittery due to the woman’s vague declaration. After all, you had been a dead human the moment the boy had brought you here. His future, however, most likely depended on the next couple of minutes.
‘What do you wish me to do, my queen?’ Taeyang inquired and you tilted your head as you allowed yourself to really look at him. He didn’t seem nervous and his voice was also too stable for your liking, but his thumb was tapping on his little finger every ten seconds, so your assumption could have been right. You might have actually gotten better at reading him, you concluded, which, for some reason, made you feel proud.
Never in your life had your emotions confused you this much. Nothing made any sense to you anymore. The lack of disappointment, the barely there fear, that damned calmness. Not a single thing.
‘You say she is obedient. I want to see just how obedient she can be,’ the queen answered, not giving too many hints to the half-elf; however, one look at the boy’s firm jawline was enough to you to know he had gotten the message you had unsurprisingly missed.
‘Your wish is my command, my queen,’ the half-elf insisted before he stood up and turned towards you with his entire body.
The brewing storm in his gray eyes clashed with your calm. You were so stuck in the bubble your staring contest created, you didn’t realize the weight of the moment until you heard a familiar voice calling your name.
‘No, no. She can’t be here. You can’t be here, noh-ho…’ your sister cried out, her crazed eyes growing three times their usual size the moment she saw you. The lump in your throat felt big and hairy as you continuously tried and failed to swallow it down.
Why was she here?
‘Don’t move,’ were the first words that left Taeyang’s mouth; you felt both surprised and not when your body shut down and your limbs refused to move. You also didn’t know what to think about your defleating need to be close to your family. Up until that moment, your yearning for your sister’s closeness might have been flickering but constant. Now, when you were finally at an arm’s length from her, you just didn’t know what you wanted. If you had still wanted to hug her. If you should have still wanted her in your life and it unnerved you: that your feelings felt so foreign all of a sudden.
You furrowed your brows and looked up at the rider. What was happening to you?
‘That girl over there…’ the half-elf started as he cupped your cheeks and turned your head in your sister’s direction. Nobara was crying like the world was about to end, but unlike a few seconds before, now she was restricted by magical ropes that had grown from the ground. ‘She wants me dead. And you can’t lose me, can you, sweetheart?’ Theo asked and you could feel your heart clench at the thought of the half-elf’s death, hence you shook your head frantically. No. For some reason, you couldn’t lose him. ‘You have to protect me,’ he whispered into your ear before he pecked your lips.
Theo stepped away from you a moment later, but not before he pushed a knife into your hand. Your body, led by your determined heart, moved on automatic as you walked up to your si… to Theo’s enemy.
‘You freaking cowards. Just kill me, you hear me! Kill me. Don’t make her do it!’ The faintly familiar girl was screaming from the top of her lungs, making you wonder why the hell did she look so sad despite the curses. Shouldn’t she have been angry or scared?
With one precise cut on her neck and no free hands to put pressure on the wound, the girl fell on her knees and choked on her blood as she said:
‘S’ rr.’
Lacking further instructions, you could almost taste a small part of your free will on the tip of your tongue. Tears immediately blurred your vision, then soaked your cheeks and you didn’t even know why.
‘Oh, sweetheart.’ Theo’s palm was warm against your cheek, his gentle caresses pacifying the raging frustration in your soul. Devastated and confused, but still sort of detached, you let him pull your head against his chest and buried your face in his loose shirt. Something was wrong, something was seriously wrong with you and this situation, and you needed him to tell you what had just happened. ‘You still don’t get it, do you?’
You really didn’t, and you shook your head to signal that you had no idea what was going on. You hoped it would be enough for the half-elf to have mercy on you and fill you in on the details.
Theo pressed his lips against the crown of your head and let out a sigh-laugh.
‘Your theory about soulmates… It wasn’t completely wrong,’ he started, mumbling into your hair. Your heart picked up its rate in excitement and you pulled away from him only a little, just to be able to see his beautiful face. ‘You were meant for me. I’m the successor of your heart. You gave it to me willingly.’
You furrowed your brows, admittedly unsure of what he had meant by that, but then he put his hand on your chest, right above your heart and the warmth lulled you into a state that felt so satisfying, it overpowered your need to understand just how literal his words could have been. You had confessed that you both cared about each other. Sure, it couldn’t have meant more than two unsure I love yous.
You loved him. He loved you.
‘You are dismissed,’ you could hear the queen’s voice from somewhere on your right, but you didn’t turn in her direction until she asked her men to clean up the mess. Then, you snapped your head in  her way without meaning to, and your eyes found the dead girl on the ground once more.
Nobara.
Your lips trembled at the sight of her lifeless body, but before you could have thought too much into your body’s unconscious reaction, Theo pulled you away from the scene.
Tumblr media
You were sitting on the edge of the half-elf’s queen-sized bed, swinging your feet back and forth while you were waiting for him to bring you food. The tent that had been assigned to the two of you had the size of a smaller bedroom, which reminded you of people whose faces might have been familiar, but meant close to nothing to you.
You had an inkling feeling, that one of them was related to the dead girl somehow. You just couldn’t quite pinpoint the connection.
‘I hope you like rabbit meat,’ Theo exclaimed with a wide grin as soon as he entered the tent. He had two plates in one hand and a jug of iced water in the other, but he still managed to close the curtain door flawlessly to maintain your privacy.
‘I do,’ you reassured him and took one of the plates from him, placing the porcelain on your lap. The food smelled delicious, and it made you contemplate whether you should have asked any of those questions that had been on your mind while he had been gone. You didn’t want to ruin your dinner when it was your first time eating from actual plates, far from the horrific massacres of…
You furrowed your brows. Just a moment ago, you had been convinced that you were safe at this campsite. However, weren’t they the same monsters who had killed all those people you had never gotten the chance to speak to? Villages robbed and burned to the ground, innocent people killed at their own homes. These crimes had been committed by Dark Elves. You had been almost killed by a dark elf. So why were you so calm about staying at their tent?
And why were you so affected yet unaffected by that dead girl whose bled-out body stuck in your head for no goddamn reason?
‘Theo… Can I ask you something?’ You spoke up in a small voice, only continuing when the boy gave you the green light with the most precious smile you had ever seen on his face.
‘When it’s just the two of us, you can ask anything, sweetheart,’ he said as he wiped some of the juice off his lips with his thumb and sucked his finger clean with his eyes on you.
You gulped, determined to stay focused.
‘About the dead girl… Who is she? I feel like she is someone important to m—’
Before you could have finished your sentence, Theo grabbed both of your arms and turned you towards himself. Your food, half-eaten and sad, fell on the floor dirtying not only the rugs but your left foot, too. Could it have been that the rider’s “anything” did not include that girl? It definitely seemed so.
You swallowed down the bile that was creeping up in your throat. Your eyeballs were moving from left to right repeatedly in desperation. You had never meant to upset him. You had just wanted to know why your heart was so calm while the cogs inside your brain tried to remind you of something important.
‘Look in my eyes,’ Theo demanded and you willed yourself to focus on one single point on his face instead of trying to take everything in: the small twitches of his jawline, the flaring of his nostrils. ‘From now on, I’ll be the only one you’ll think about. Noone else, only me, you hear me? I’ll be the only one on your mind,’ he said firmly.
Your lips parted for a soft protest, but no words made it through them. And a couple of seconds later, you couldn’t even pinpoint why you would have wanted to think about anybody else but your soulmate. Because Theo was your soulmate, he had to be. There was no other explanation for the warmth you felt in your chest whenever his eyes bored into yours so lovingly.
When the silence stretched long enough for the half-elf to break it, you let him feed you with his own food and also followed him towards the barrel in the back of the tent that was filled with warm water for bathing. A distant memory about how shy you had felt when a few of your boy neighbors had showed up at the stream you had been playing in with your… with someone close to you popped up in your mind, but it disappeared just as quickly, and with that, your reason to ask for some privacy.
‘Come here, sweetheart, and put your hands up for me,’ the half-elf asked and you did as he said with a happy smile, letting him help you out of your clothes and wash your body with a soft cloth while you were sitting in the enormous barrel. These were activities you could have done on your own, a faint voice in your head tried to remind you; however, you shut its nagging out easily and leaned your head back against the edge of the barrel with a content sigh. It felt so nice to be taken care of.
To not have to worry about what was next, because Theo was there for you to make those decisions on your behalf with your best interest in mind.
To be guided and told when the water was starting to get too cold, and be wrapped in a warm towel afterwards. Like this, being carried to your shared bed, it was easy to only think about Theo. To only want to be embraced by Theo.
To live for your soulmate.
‘My beautiful sweetheart. You must be tired, hm? It was such an exhausting day,’ the half-elf mumbled against the top of your head after he tucked you under the blankets and pulled you against his chest. He was stroking your hair slowly, making you hesitant whether you should have told him you didn’t want to sleep.
It didn’t matter, not anymore. And maybe he knew your body better than you knew yourself anyway. Because you did fall asleep the moment he said:
‘Sleep, my love. I promise you, no one will dare to hurt you until you’re here with me.’
the end.

Third Person POV
In the shadowy expanse of the dark kingdom, where the moon held sway over the night, there resided nine vampire princes. These enigmatic beings were intricately bound together by the mystical influence of the moon, their destinies interwoven like the phases of the celestial orb that adorned the night sky.
Driven by an ancient prophecy, the nine princes embarked on a quest to find their elusive soulmate, the one fated to complete the circle of their existence and unlock the dormant powers within them. Despite the captivating allure of the dark kingdom, their search proved to be a seemingly fruitless journey.
As the cycles of the moon waxed and waned, the princes pressed on, fueled by an unwavering determination to fulfill their destiny. The dark kingdom held its secrets close, and only time would reveal whether the celestial dance between the nine vampire princes and their soulmates would ultimately illuminate the shadows or forever remain veiled in the enigma of the night.
Youngbin, the second oldest among the nine vampire princes, possessed a unique blend of strength, charisma, and a natural inclination for leadership. Despite being younger than Inseong, the eldest of the princes, Youngbin assumed the role of the group's leader and, by virtue of a peculiar twist in their heritage, was designated as the heir apparent to the throne.
His demeanor reflected a balance of regality and approachability, making him not only a respected leader but also a figure his brothers could turn to for guidance. Youngbin's eyes, a mesmerizing blend of deep amethyst and the moonlit glow held a spark of determination that mirrored the responsibility he bore as the leader destined to guide their kingdom.
Youngbin's powers were uniquely attuned to governance and protection. He could command the elements, creating barriers of shadows and manipulating the very fabric of the dark kingdom to shield it from external threats. His leadership extended beyond the physical realm, as he proved adept at navigating the intricacies of vampire politics and ensuring the cohesion of the princely brotherhood.
In the quiet moments of reflection, Youngbin would often find solace in the moonlit gardens of their castle, contemplating not only the challenges of their quest but also the responsibilities that came with his imminent role as king. The moon, a silent witness to his thoughts, seemed to offer both guidance and reassurance in the face of the unknown.
Inseong, the eldest of the nine vampire princes, stood at the forefront of their quest with a regal demeanor that reflected both centuries of existence and the weight of the prophecy that bound them together. His eyes, like pools of ancient wisdom, gleamed with a timeless knowledge that surpassed the mortal realm. As the moonlight bathed him in an ethereal glow, it also highlighted the solitude that lingered in the recesses of his gaze.
Inseong's powers surpassed many, a testament to the accumulated strength of centuries lived under the moon's watchful eye. He could manipulate shadows, command the night, and communicate with the nocturnal creatures that inhabited the dark kingdom. Yet, for all his might, the one power that eluded him was the ability to unveil the identities of their elusive soulmate.
In the quiet moments between their pursuits, when the moon hung low and the kingdom slept in an uneasy stillness, Inseong would gaze at the night sky with a contemplative expression. The stars, distant and unattainable, mirrored the essence of the soulmate they sought—shrouded in the vastness of the unknown.
Jaeyoon and Dawon, the third and fourth vampire princes in line, complemented each other in ways that mirrored the delicate balance between dusk and dawn. Jaeyoon, with his captivating charm and beguiling aura, was a master of illusions, able to weave shadows into illusions that confounded and intrigued. Dawon, on the other hand, possessed a unique connection to the natural world, with the ability to manipulate flora and fauna at will.
Jaeyoon's powers of illusion made him a valuable asset to the group, capable of creating diversions and concealing their movements as they traversed the dark kingdom. His silver hair, like moonlit strands, framed his face in an otherworldly elegance, and his eyes sparkled with mischief as he navigated the shadows with an enigmatic grace.
Dawon, in contrast, had a deep affinity for the living realm. He could coax flowers to bloom in the moonlight, summon creatures of the night to aid their cause and draw strength from the very essence of the earth beneath their feet. His connection to the natural world brought a sense of vitality to the group, a reminder that even in the darkest of realms, life could flourish.
The bond between Jaeyoon and Dawon was as inseparable as day and night. Their complementary abilities often intertwined, creating a synergy that enhanced their effectiveness as a duo. In the moments of stillness, they would share quiet conversations beneath the moonlit canopy, reflecting on the journey and the mysteries that surrounded their quest.
As the group ventured deeper into the heart of the dark kingdom, Jaeyoon's illusions wove a protective veil around them, shielding the princes from prying eyes and malevolent forces. Dawon, in turn, would breathe life into the desolate landscapes they encountered, a testament to the enduring power of nature even in the face of darkness.
Zuho, the fifth vampire prince and known as the "dark one" within the kingdom, carried an aura of mystery and intensity that set him apart from his brothers. His icy glare, often accompanied by a stoic demeanor, earned him a reputation that echoed through the shadowed halls of the dark kingdom. Yet, beneath this façade of darkness, Zuho harbored a profound yearning for the love that the prophecy promised—a yearning that ran deep in the veins of his immortal heart.
His powers were as formidable as his reputation. Zuho commanded the element of ice, able to freeze time itself with a mere glance. The chill of his presence sent shivers through the hearts of those who crossed his path, reinforcing the moniker bestowed upon him by the kingdom's inhabitants. Yet, in the solitude of his thoughts, Zuho wrestled with the duality of his nature—the chilling exterior that concealed a warmth he dared not show.
Zuho's gaze, sharp as the moonlight reflecting off icy landscapes, held a complexity that mirrored the struggle within him. The shadows he cast were both a shield and a prison, a defense mechanism born of centuries spent navigating the intrigues of the vampire realm. Yet, as the moon waxed and waned, so did the longing in his immortal soul for a connection that transcended the cold solitude he had grown accustomed to.
On the moonlit nights, when the kingdom lay in a hushed slumber, Zuho would find himself standing on the parapets of their castle, gazing out into the vast expanse of the darkened landscape. His thoughts, like the swirling snowflakes around him, danced between the desire to embrace the warmth of love and the fear of exposing vulnerabilities that had long been buried in the frost of self-preservation.
Among his brothers, Zuho remained an enigma—a puzzle with edges that hinted at both strength and fragility. The other princes sensed the depth of his yearning, the silent plea for understanding and acceptance that echoed in the icy corridors of his heart. Yet, the path to unraveling Zuho's true self-proved to be as treacherous as the frozen landscapes he could conjure with a thought.
Rowoon, the sixth vampire prince, walked in the footsteps of Zuho, creating a striking contrast that seemed to embody the duality of their immortal existence. If Zuho was the embodiment of darkness, Rowoon emerged as the radiant counterpoint—the prince known for his charming and warm looks that endeared him to the inhabitants of the dark kingdom.
Tall and commanding, Rowoon possessed an otherworldly allure that drew eyes like moths to a flame. His golden hair, reminiscent of the sun's glow at dawn, framed a face that radiated kindness and approachability. His eyes, pools of warmth, held an innate ability to dispel the shadows that clung to the kingdom, earning him the affectionate moniker of the "light bringer" among the subjects.
Rowoon's powers were attuned to healing and restoration. He could mend wounds with a touch and infuse the air with an invigorating energy that dispelled the weariness that often accompanied their quest. His presence, like a beacon in the night, brought comfort to his brothers and a sense of hope to the kingdom that lingered in the perpetual embrace of darkness.
The dynamic between Rowoon and Zuho was a fascinating interplay of opposites. While Zuho's gaze could freeze time, Rowoon's smile had the power to thaw even the coldest hearts. Their connection, akin to the delicate balance of night and day, added a layer of complexity to the brotherhood, highlighting the diverse strengths that each prince brought to the collective journey.
Despite their differences, Rowoon and Zuho shared an unspoken understanding that ran deeper than the superficial contrasts in their appearances and abilities. In the moonlit nights, when the kingdom lay still, they would find moments of quiet contemplation, reflecting on the intricacies of their intertwined destinies and the significance of their roles in the prophecy.
Taeyang, the seventh vampire prince, brought a unique passion to the brotherhood—one that transcended the mystic powers and political intricacies that surrounded their quest. His heart resonated with the rhythmic beats of dance and the moon's warm glow served as both witness and inspiration to his profound yearning.
His name, meaning Sun, captured the essence of his vibrant spirit. Taeyang's movements were a fluid expression of grace and power, a dance that mirrored the celestial dance of the moon and the stars. His dark hair, like cascading shadows, framed a face adorned with the glow of someone who found solace in the rhythm of the night.
Taeyang's powers were intricately linked to his affinity for dance. As he moved, shadows swirled around him, creating ephemeral patterns that captivated the eyes of those fortunate enough to witness his artistry. His dance was not only a form of self-expression but also a means of channeling the very essence of the dark kingdom, infusing the air with a magical energy that resonated with the moon's warm embrace.
The moon, with its silver radiance, became both a muse and confidante to Taeyang. Under its watchful gaze, he would lose himself in the rhythmic flow of his own movements, imagining a future where he and his soulmate would dance together, creating a symphony that echoed through the darkened realm.
Among his brothers, Taeyang's passion for dance added a dynamic layer to their collective journey. The moonlit nights transformed into impromptu stages where the vampire prince would weave his spells, inviting his brothers to join in the celestial dance that bound them together.
Hwiyoung and Chani, the eighth and ninth vampire princes, brought a youthful energy to the brotherhood, their presence a reminder that even in the timeless realm of immortality, the essence of youth and discovery remained. Despite being the youngest, they carried a weighty responsibility as integral pieces in the celestial puzzle that bound them together.
Hwiyoung, with his tousled silver hair and mischievous eyes, possessed an affinity for the winds that whispered through the night. His powers allowed him to command the air, creating gentle breezes or powerful gusts that carried the secrets of the dark kingdom. His playful spirit added a lighthearted touch to the group, a refreshing breeze amidst the shadows.
Chani, on the other hand, was a creature of the moonlit forests. His connection to nature surpassed even that of Dawon, as he could communicate with animals and navigate the dense woodlands with an almost supernatural intuition. Chani's eyes, reflecting the deep hues of the nocturnal landscapes, held a wisdom that defied his youthful appearance.
The duo of Hwiyoung and Chani, inseparable like the moon and the stars, brought a sense of camaraderie and exploration to the brotherhood. Together, they discovered hidden pathways through the kingdom and reveled in the enchanting mysteries that lurked in the corners of their world. Their laughter echoed through the moonlit nights, a testament to the enduring spirit of youth even in the midst of their quest.
In the grand scheme of their quest, Hwiyoung and Chani, like the final strokes on a canvas, added a sense of completeness to the brotherhood. The moon, their ever-watchful companion, observed the unfolding destinies of the vampire princes, each step bringing them closer to the revelation of their soulmates and the fulfillment of the prophecy that bound them as one.
In the outskirts of the small town, nestled in the shadow of the dark kingdom, lived a girl by the name of (Y/n). Her humble existence unfolded in a small, weathered house, where she shared the simple comforts of life with fellow orphans from the town. The flickering candlelight and the warmth of shared stories painted the walls of their modest abode with a sense of camaraderie and resilience.
(Y/n), with her expressive eyes that mirrored the myriad hues of the moonlit night, navigated life with a quiet strength that belied her circumstances. Her days were filled with the simple joys of laughter and shared meals, and the nights brought the solace of a sky adorned with stars that seemed to echo the tales whispered by the elders of the town about the mysterious dark kingdom nearby.
Living on the outskirts allowed (Y/n) to catch glimpses of the kingdom's enigmatic silhouette, its dark spires reaching into the night sky. The tales of the vampire princes and their quest for soulmates were woven into the fabric of the town's folklore, a source of fascination and trepidation for the orphans who dared to dream beneath the moon's silver glow.
Among her fellow orphans, (Y/n) stood out as a source of comfort and inspiration. Her resilience in the face of adversity and her ability to find joy in the simplicity of life endeared her to those around her. As the moon cast its glow upon the outskirts, (Y/n) would often find herself gazing toward the dark kingdom, a spark of curiosity flickering in her eyes.
As (Y/n) went about her days, weaving the threads of her existence with those of her fellow orphans, the moon continued its watchful vigil over the unfolding tale. The dark kingdom, with its mysteries and the nine vampire princes bound by destiny, loomed ever closer, casting its enigmatic influence on the small town and the girl who lived on its outskirts.
The news of the impending arrival of the nine vampire princes stirred a mixture of excitement and trepidation throughout the small town. Whispers of their quest, their otherworldly powers, and the elusive search for soulmates spread like wildfire, casting a magical anticipation over the community.
As the summery day unfolded, the air buzzed with palpable energy, and the townsfolk couldn't help but feel the magnetic pull of destiny drawing near. The sunlight bathed the cobbled streets in a warm embrace, casting a golden hue over the town that contrasted with the mysterious shadows of the approaching dark kingdom.
In the outskirts, where (Y/n) lived with the other orphans, a sense of wonder mingled with the everyday routines. The small house, usually filled with the comforting sounds of shared stories and laughter, hummed with an added sense of anticipation. The orphans exchanged eager glances, their imaginations ignited by the prospect of encountering beings from the fabled dark kingdom.
Preparations buzzed throughout the town as its inhabitants readied for the arrival of the vampire princes. Merchants adorned their stalls with vibrant colors, flowers bloomed in window boxes, and the aroma of freshly baked bread wafted through the air—a collective effort to welcome the enigmatic guests with open hearts.
The summery day turned into a hazy evening, and the town's folk gathered in the central square, their faces illuminated by the warm glow of lanterns and the flickering anticipation of the impending arrival. The air shimmered with excitement, and whispers of hope and curiosity echoed beneath the moonlit sky.
The rhythmic sound of horse hooves hitting the ground echoed through the town, gradually growing louder until it became a steady and distinct beat. As the anticipation peaked, nine silhouettes emerged on the horizon, riding toward the town on majestic steeds. The moonlit night unveiled the figures of the vampire princes, their dark cloaks billowing in the night breeze as their horses gracefully carried them forward. The townspeople, collectively holding their breath, watched in awe as the nine mysterious figures drew nearer.
As the nine princes approached, the air became charged with a blend of curiosity and reverence. Rowoon, with his radiant charm, indeed drew the gaze of many despite his cloak covering his face, and the young girls couldn't help but marvel at the reality of the living legend before them. The collective heartbeat of the town seemed to synchronize with the hoofbeats of the approaching steeds, creating a harmonious symphony that underscored the significance of the moment.
The nine princes came to a graceful halt in the center of the town square, dismounting from their steeds with an otherworldly elegance. The small crowd hushed in anticipation, watched as the princes lowered their hoods one by one, revealing features that seemed to transcend the mortal realm.
Inseong, stood with a regal poise, his gaze sweeping over the assembled townspeople with a wisdom that spoke of centuries lived beneath the moon's watchful eye. Beside him, Youngbin exuded a calm confidence, a leader born of both authority and compassion.
The other princes followed suit, revealing faces that held a unique blend of mystery and allure. Jaeyoon, Dawon, and Zuho each bore expressions that hinted at the complexities beneath their exterior. Rowoon, with his warm and charming looks, smiled gently as he observed the townspeople.
Taeyang, the dancer, moved with a fluid grace that seemed to echo the very essence of the moonlit night. Hwiyoung and Chani, the youngest, exuded an energetic vibrancy that added a touch of youthful exuberance to the group.
As the princes faced the townspeople, their piercing eyes scanned the crowd, searching for a connection that would fulfill the prophecy. The air, charged with the unspoken hopes of the townspeople, crackled with a sense of destiny unfolding.
The townspeople, caught in the collective gaze of the vampire princes, held their breath as the celestial search began. Whispers rippled through the crowd, speculation and excitement intertwining in the moonlit night. Each prince, in his own way, sought the elusive soulmate who would complete the cosmic puzzle that bound them together.
In the midst of the town square, (Y/n) felt a mix of nervous anticipation and quiet curiosity. The gaze of the vampire princes, each with a unique allure, seemed to linger on the faces of the townspeople, a silent search for the one whose destiny would intertwine with theirs.
The moon, casting its ethereal glow upon the scene, bore witness to the unfolding drama beneath its celestial canvas. The small town, caught between the realms of ordinary life and the extraordinary fate promised by the prophecy, awaited the moment when the threads of mortal and immortal destinies would finally entwine.
A moment of quiet despair settled among the princes as their piercing gazes scanned the townspeople, and the weight of an uncertain future pressed upon them. The air, thick with anticipation, carried an undercurrent of melancholy as the possibility of not finding their soulmates loomed.
Yet, just as a shadow falls across a sunlit path, a subtle shift in the atmosphere caught the attention of the vampire princes. As their eyes swept over the crowd, the shadows seemed to part, revealing a figure standing at the back of the gathering. (Y/n), hidden from their direct sight, had inadvertently caught the attention of the princes through the revealing dance of the shadows.
The townspeople, unaware of the unfolding drama, continued to exchange hopeful glances, oblivious to the profound moment that hung in the air. The princes, guided by the serendipity of the shadows, felt a sudden surge of energy as their eyes locked onto the girl who stood at the periphery of the crowd.
At that moment, the world seemed to be still. The moon, the silent witness to the cosmic dance, bathed (Y/n) in its silver glow, casting her in a radiant light that captivated the vampire princes. The revelation unfolded like a dream, and the connection between the princes and the hidden girl felt palpable as if destiny had guided their eyes toward an undeniable truth.
The air shimmered with newfound hope as the princes, driven by an instinct that transcended the ordinary, began to move toward the back of the crowd where (Y/n) stood. The townspeople, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, turned their attention to the unfolding spectacle, their murmurs of anticipation giving way to a collective realization that something extraordinary was taking place.
As the princes closed the distance, the shadows continued to weave their silent narrative, revealing the connection that had eluded them moments before. Destiny, it seemed, had a way of illuminating the path even in the darkest corners of the unknown. And in that moment, beneath the watchful gaze of the moon and the curious eyes of the townspeople, the nine vampire princes and (Y/n) stood on the threshold of a fate that would bind them together in an immortal dance written by the hand of destiny.
(Y/n), standing at the back of the crowd, felt a mixture of confusion and bewilderment as the nine princes, guided by an unseen force, began to move in her direction. The sudden attention, the weight of their collective gaze, left her feeling like the epicenter of a cosmic shift she couldn't comprehend.
The whispers and speculations of the townspeople reached her ears, adding to the surreal atmosphere that surrounded the unexpected turn of events. (Y/n)'s eyes darted between the advancing princes, each step they took amplifying her sense of disorientation.
As the princes closed the distance, their eyes, filled with an intensity that bordered on recognition, seemed to lock onto her. (Y/n) questioned the nature of this inexplicable connection, her thoughts racing to catch up with the unfolding reality. Why had the attention of the vampire princes turned toward her?
The moonlit night, usually a source of comfort, now felt like a silent witness to a mystery that eluded her understanding. The shadows, playing tricks with the light, seemed to dance around the princes and (Y/n), casting an ethereal glow on the scene.
Among the townspeople, a murmur of curiosity rippled through the air. The small community, caught in the currents of destiny, watched with bated breath as the princes and (Y/n) stood on the precipice of a revelation that promised to rewrite the narrative of their lives.
In the midst of confusion, (Y/n) couldn't escape the feeling that she had become a central figure in a tale that transcended the ordinary boundaries of her life. The questions lingered, and as the vampire princes drew closer, the answers seemed poised to unfold beneath the watchful eye of the moon, the silent orchestrator of a celestial dance that defied mortal comprehension.
In the moonlit glow, Youngbin, with an air of regal charisma, extended his hand toward (Y/n), breaking through the veil of confusion that enveloped her. As he stood in front of the much shorter girl, his eyes held a warmth that contrasted with the initial intensity, and a genuine smile graced his lips.
With a gentle gesture, he introduced himself and his brothers, each prince revealing a unique presence that mirrored the diverse facets of the moonlit night. Youngbin's voice, a soothing melody that resonated with authority and kindness, echoed through the square as he spoke of their quest.
As the introduction concluded, Youngbin, still extending his hand, looked at (Y/n) with a sincerity that transcended the supernatural circumstances. "And what might be your name?" he asked, his gaze inviting her to step into the unfolding tapestry of destiny.
(Y/n), still bewildered but feeling a sense of reassurance in Youngbin's presence, took his extended hand with a small nod. Bowing respectfully, she introduced herself, "I am (Y/n)."
As (Y/n) took Youngbin's extended hand, an inexplicable spark ignited within her, a sensation that resonated with a force beyond her understanding. The touch, seemingly ordinary, carried a subtle current that whispered of connections woven by the hands of destiny.
Her world shifted when Youngbin, with a sincerity that mirrored the glow of the moon above, revealed a revelation that echoed through the quiet town square. "(Y/n)," Youngbin began, his gaze unwavering, "you are our fated soulmate,"
The words hung in the air, carrying a weight that transcended the ordinary. (Y/n), caught between the realms of disbelief and destiny, processed the profound declaration. The townspeople, overhearing Youngbin's words, fell into a collective hush as they witnessed the unfolding of a tale that defied the boundaries of their understanding.
The moon, casting its ethereal glow, seemed to intensify its radiance as if acknowledging the significance of the moment. The shadows, playing their silent dance, whispered secrets that only the celestial realm comprehended.
As the realization settled within her, (Y/n) met Youngbin's eyes, searching for confirmation in the depths of his gaze. The connection between them, sparked by the touch of their hands, resonated with the unspoken threads of destiny that bound the vampire princes together.
The small town, now a stage for an extraordinary chapter in the tale of the nine princes, held its breath as the cosmic dance of fate unfolded beneath the watchful gaze of the moon. In that moment, (Y/n) stood at the intersection of two worlds, her ordinary existence now intricately intertwined with the extraordinary destiny that awaited her and the vampire princes.
The weight of Youngbin's revelation hit (Y/n) with such force that she felt the ground shift beneath her. The shock nearly caused her to lose her footing, and she stumbled, the world tilting on its axis. However, before she could fully lose her balance, Jaeyoon, with reflexes as quick as moonlight, appeared by her side in an instant.
His strong and steady presence became her anchor, and Jaeyoon's supportive grasp ensured that (Y/n) regained her balance. The touch, though brief, carried a comforting reassurance, as if the vampire prince, with a silent understanding, sought to ease the overwhelming impact of the revelation.
"(Y/n), are you all right?" Jaeyoon asked with genuine concern, his eyes reflecting a mixture of empathy and curiosity. The townspeople, still caught in the collective hush, observed the unfolding scene with a sense of awe and wonder.
Taking a moment to compose herself, (Y/n) met Jaeyoon's gaze, a myriad of emotions swirling within her. The reality of being the fated soulmate of the nine princes began to settle, and the cosmic significance of the moment lingered in the air.
The moon, a silent witness to the unexpected turns of fate, continued to cast its glow upon the small town square. The shadows, now holding a different resonance, danced around the group, adding an ethereal quality to the unfolding drama.
As (Y/n) steadied herself, the realization of her newfound destiny intertwined with the journey of the vampire princes. The moonlit night, once ordinary, had become the stage for a tale that would leave an indelible mark on the quiet town and the girl who stood at the center of a prophecy that transcended the boundaries of mortal understanding.
Inseong, with the authority befitting the eldest of the vampire princes, raised his hand, dismissing the rest of the crowd to allow him and his brothers some private time with their newfound soulmate, (Y/n). The townspeople, a mixture of awe and curiosity, began to disperse, giving the group of vampires the space they needed.
However, a handful of curious onlookers, drawn by the mysterious allure of the vampire princes and the unfolding saga, hesitated to leave. They lingered at the edges, attempting to catch a glimpse of the extraordinary encounter between the immortal beings and the girl who held the key to their destiny.
Among those who lingered, some tried to push the boundaries of Inseong's order, perhaps fueled by a desire for proximity to the supernatural spectacle. This disobedience didn't sit well with Zuho, the "dark one" of the vampire princes, who sensed the treacherous undertones in the lingering presence of the onlookers.
Zuho, with a stern expression and an icy glare that matched his reputation, decided to take matters into his own hands. In a swift and almost imperceptible motion, he summoned the power of ice, causing an ephemeral frost to trail from his fingertips. The temperature dropped, and a chill permeated the air, sending shivers through the lingering onlookers.
The sudden manifestation of Zuho's powers, coupled with his intimidating demeanor, sent a collective shudder through the crowd. The frost danced in the moonlit night, a warning that echoed the boundaries set by the vampire princes. The lingering townspeople, now thoroughly spooked, scattered like leaves in the wind, yielding to the will of the supernatural beings in their midst.
With the unwanted spectators dispelled, the town square returned to a semblance of calm. The vampire princes, flanked by the enigmatic presence of (Y/n), were left with the solitude needed for a conversation that would unravel the intricacies of the prophecy and the destinies entwined in the moonlit night. The moon, casting its serene glow upon the scene, bore witness to the unfolding tale that danced on the edges of the extraordinary and the ordinary, a tale that defied the boundaries between the mortal and the immortal realms.
Feeling the sudden drop in temperature induced by Zuho's display of power, (Y/n) couldn't help but shiver in response to the chilling atmosphere that surrounded her. The unexpected frost in the air sent a wave of cold through her, and she instinctively wrapped her arms around herself, seeking to ward off the sudden chill.
Noticing her discomfort, Hwiyoung, the gentle and breezy vampire prince, reacted with swift kindness. Without hesitation, he removed his cloak and, with a graceful motion, draped it around (Y/n). The fabric, imbued with the essence of Hwiyoung's powers over the winds, enveloped her in a cocoon of warmth.
"There, that should help," Hwiyoung said, his voice carrying a soothing quality that echoed the breeze. The cloak, with its ethereal touch, seemed to respond to the elements under his command, creating a pocket of comfort for (Y/n) amidst the lingering traces of frost.
The gesture didn't go unnoticed by the other princes, each of them keenly aware of the small yet significant interactions unfolding in the moonlit night. The group, now standing in a more secluded part of the town square, prepared for the conversations that would shape the next chapters of their intertwined destinies.
As (Y/n) stood enveloped in Hwiyoung's cloak, the warmth and protection it offered became a tangible symbol of the bond forming between the vampire princes and their fated soulmate. The moon above, a silent witness to the ebb and flow of emotions, continued to cast its serene glow, setting the stage for the unraveling tale that lay ahead—a tale in which the ordinary and the extraordinary danced in harmony beneath the celestial canvas.
As the moonlit night embraced them in a quiet solitude, (Y/n) found herself standing with the nine vampire princes, a question weighing on her heart that she couldn't ignore. In the hushed stillness of the moment, she mustered the courage to voice the inquiry that lingered in her mind.
"What does it mean to be your soulmate?" she asked, her voice a gentle yet earnest murmur beneath the night sky.
The princes, their expressions a blend of ancient wisdom and contemporary curiosity, exchanged glances as if silently communicating the gravity of the question. Inseong, the eldest, stepped forward, his eyes holding a depth that spoke of centuries lived beneath the moon's watchful gaze.
"To be our soulmate," Inseong began, his words measured and resonant, "means that your destiny is intricately tied to ours. It means you hold the key to unlocking the dormant powers within us, powers that, when united, can reshape the very fabric of our existence."
Youngbin, with his charismatic presence, continued the explanation. "It means that, together, we fulfill a prophecy that binds us as one. Your connection with each of us is unique, and through that connection, the magic that resides within can be awakened."
Hwiyoung, ever attuned to the winds of change, expressed, "Being our soulmate means becoming a part of a cosmic symphony, where each note, each thread, contributes to the grand design of our shared destiny."
Chani, with his connection to the natural world, added, "It means finding harmony not just with us but also with the elements that surround us, a balance between the supernatural and the ordinary."
In this exchange, (Y/n) gained glimpses into the complexities of the prophecy, each prince offering a piece of the puzzle that was their shared destiny. The moon, casting its silvery glow upon the group, seemed to listen to the unfolding dialogue that would shape the path ahead.
As the explanation unfolded, (Y/n) absorbed the weight of her role in this cosmic narrative, her ordinary existence now intricately woven with the extraordinary destinies of the nine vampire princes. The moonlit night, witness to their revelations, held the promise of a journey that would transcend the boundaries of the known and venture into the realms of magic, fate, and the timeless dance of the celestial.
Dawon's words echoed through the moonlit night, each syllable carrying the weight of an eternal promise. As the youngest among the vampire princes, his expression softened with a sincerity that transcended the ages.
"It also means," Dawon continued, his voice gentle yet unwavering, "to spend the rest of our lives together, an eternal bond of love."
The revelation hung in the air, a profound declaration that resonated with the timeless nature of the vampire princes' existence. The moon, casting its ethereal glow upon the gathering, seemed to embrace the weight and beauty of the commitment being offered.
The other princes, their eyes reflecting the depth of emotions that accompanied Dawon's words, nodded in agreement. In that moment, the small group stood at the threshold of an extraordinary journey—a journey that would unfold not just beneath the moonlit sky but across the vast expanse of time itself.
"(Y/n)," Taeyang spoke, "you are the missing piece in our eternal puzzle. The completion of our bond heralds an ageless love that transcends the boundaries of mortal understanding."
As the revelation settled, (Y/n) felt a mixture of awe and trepidation. The prospect of an eternal bond, a love that spanned lifetimes, held both the allure of the extraordinary and the weight of profound responsibility.
The moon, now a silent witness to the unfolding vows, continued its watchful gaze. The vampire princes and (Y/n), standing beneath its silvery glow, became a testament to the enduring power of love that, like the moon itself, wove through the tapestry of time, leaving an indelible mark on the pages of an immortal tale.
With the weight of the eternal bond and the unfolding destiny settling in the air, (Y/n) decided to lighten the atmosphere with a question that hinted at the practicalities of their newfound connection. A playful smile graced her lips as she inquired, "So, will I be moving to your castle, or are you all planning to live in my small town?"
The question brought forth a chorus of chuckles from the vampire princes, a welcome respite from the weighty discussions of destiny and eternal bonds. Each prince exchanged amused glances, their laughter reflecting the camaraderie that existed among them.
Chani, spoke with a twinkle in his eye, "Well, (Y/n), the castle does have a certain timeless charm, but we are more than willing to adapt to the comforts of your small town if that's your preference."
Youngbin, with his charismatic presence, added, "After all, the magic lies not just in the grandeur of castles but in the simple joys of everyday life."
The other princes, in turn, expressed their willingness to embrace the lifestyle of (Y/n)'s town, acknowledging that the choice was a shared one. Jaeyoon, with a warm smile, mentioned the appeal of a close-knit community, while Dawon playfully commented on the prospect of exploring the town's charms.
Zuho, known for his icy demeanor, surprised everyone with a teasing remark, "Who knows, perhaps the 'dark one' might find warmth in the quaint corners of your town."
Rowoon, with his charming demeanor, chimed in, "Whether castle or town, our home is where our soulmate is."
The playful banter continued, creating a lighthearted atmosphere amidst the profound discussions. The moon, still casting its serene glow, seemed to appreciate the balance between the weight of destiny and the joy found in the simplicity of shared laughter.
As the vampire princes and (Y/n) stood beneath the moonlit sky, the question of where their shared journey would unfold became a topic of mutual consideration. The choices ahead, whether within the walls of a castle or amidst the familiarity of a small town, reflected the harmonious dance of the extraordinary and the ordinary—a dance that would define the chapters of their eternal bond.
Youngbin's words, infused with the weight of responsibility as the crown prince, conveyed the practical necessity of returning to the castle. The reality of ruling a kingdom required their presence in the realm they governed. As he spoke, there was a sincerity in his gaze that sought understanding, recognizing the potential complexities that such a decision might carry.
"However, truthfully, we must return to the castle. We cannot rule the kingdom from here. Will you come with us?" Youngbin's question hung in the air, carrying the weight of the choices that (Y/n) now faced.
(Y/n), with a thoughtful expression, considered the implications of such a decision. The life she had known in the small town, with its simplicity and shared moments, tugged at the strings of familiarity. Yet, as she reflected, she found no binding strings that tethered her to the town. The unfolding connection with the vampire princes, the promises of an eternal bond, and the destiny that awaited seemed to beckon her toward a path that transcended the boundaries of her ordinary existence.
In the quiet moments that followed, Youngbin's gaze held a blend of anticipation and respect, recognizing that the choice was a significant one. The other princes, standing beside him, awaited (Y/n)'s response with a mixture of curiosity and understanding.
As (Y/n) pondered the question, the moon, the silent witness to the ebb and flow of destinies, continued to cast its gentle glow upon the scene. The night, pregnant with possibilities, held the promise of a journey that could unfold within the storied walls of a castle, where the echoes of their shared destiny would resonate through the corridors of time.
The decision, a pivotal moment in the tale that bound the vampire princes and (Y/n) together, awaited a choice that would shape the course of their eternal bond.
With the weight of the decision hanging in the air and the moon casting its serene glow upon the scene, (Y/n) took a moment to contemplate the choices before her. The prospect of life within the castle intertwined with the destiny of the vampire princes, and the responsibilities that came with ruling a kingdom were not decisions to be taken lightly.
After a minute or two of thoughtful consideration, (Y/n) looked at the vampire princes, her eyes reflecting a newfound determination. With a soft yet resolute voice, she answered, "Yes, I will come with you."
The words, like a gentle breeze, carried a promise that resonated with the destiny written in the stars. The vampire princes, their expressions a mix of joy and gratitude, exchanged glances that spoke volumes about the significance of (Y/n)'s decision.
Youngbin, the crown prince, nodded with a sense of responsibility fulfilled, recognizing the gravity of the commitment. The other princes, each harboring their unique connection with (Y/n), welcomed her decision with a shared understanding that their shared journey was set to take a new and extraordinary turn.
As (Y/n) stepped into the path of the unknown, the moon above seemed to smile upon the gathering, casting its approval upon the choice that would shape the destinies of mortals and immortals alike. The night, now filled with the promise of a shared future, stood as a testament to the enduring power of love and the harmonious dance of ordinary and extraordinary moments beneath the watchful gaze of the celestial realm.
And so, the vampire princes and their fated soulmate embarked on a journey back to the castle, where the tapestry of their eternal bond would continue to unfold in a tale written by the hand of destiny.
Taeyang's thoughtful inquiry about (Y/n)'s belongings, met with her admission of only having a handful of half-broken clothing, prompted a kind and considerate response from the gentle prince. "We'll make sure you have everything you need," he assured, a warmth in his eyes that mirrored the promise of care and provision.
Jaeyoon, known for his charming and affable nature, leaned down and whispered in (Y/n)'s ear. His voice, a soft murmur against the backdrop of the night, carried a reassurance that hinted at the opulence awaiting her in the castle. "At the castle, you'll have the most beautiful things and clothes," he shared, his words weaving a vision of a life beyond the confines of the small town.
The prospect of a new beginning, adorned with the luxuries and splendors of the castle, brought a glimmer of anticipation to (Y/n)'s eyes. The contrast between her humble belongings and the promise of a life filled with opulence seemed to symbolize the transformative journey she was about to undertake.
As the vampire princes and (Y/n) prepared to leave the small town behind, the moon, casting its silver glow, bore witness to the exchange of promises and the anticipation of the extraordinary destiny that lay ahead. The night held the echo of whispered assurances, the rustle of cloaks, and the collective heartbeat of those bound by the threads of an eternal bond.
The journey back to the castle, where the vampire princes and their soulmate would begin a new chapter, unfolded beneath the celestial canvas. The night, with its mysteries and promises, embraced them in its tender embrace, marking the commencement of a tale that transcended the boundaries of time and mortality.
As the decision was made to begin the journey back to the castle, the vampire princes, with an air of purpose, started to mount their horses. In the midst of this organized activity, Zuho, the "dark one," extended his hand toward (Y/n). The gesture was an unexpected yet graceful invitation—a hand offered not just in assistance but in a shared journey.
Zuho's icy gaze softened for a moment, revealing a depth of consideration and perhaps a hint of the vulnerability beneath his stoic exterior. The hand he extended toward (Y/n) held a silent promise of companionship on the path that lay ahead.
With a small yet appreciative smile, (Y/n) accepted Zuho's hand. His touch, surprisingly gentle, conveyed a silent understanding that transcended words. With his guidance, she mounted the horse behind him, finding herself positioned to ride alongside the "dark one" as they embarked on the journey back to the castle.
The other princes, mounted on their steeds, glanced back with smiles that held a mix of camaraderie and anticipation. The moon, now a celestial companion to the riders, continued to cast its ethereal glow upon the scene, blessing the beginning of a journey that promised to be as magical as the night itself.
As the group set forth on horseback, the clip-clop of hooves echoed through the night, harmonizing with the rustle of cloaks and the whispers of destiny. The small town, now a fading memory in the distance, marked the point of departure for a tale that would unfold within the walls of the castle—a tale written by the hand of fate, guided by the moon, and carried forward by the eternal bond that bound the vampire princes and their fated soulmate.
Life at the castle unfolded like a dream for (Y/n), a dream adorned with opulence, enchanting corridors, and the company of the vampire princes. Each passing day brought a cascade of romantic moments that seemed to transcend the ordinary boundaries of time and space.
The castle, with its majestic halls and secret passages, became a backdrop for shared laughter, whispered promises, and stolen glances. (Y/n) found herself immersed in a world where the extraordinary mingled seamlessly with the ordinary, where the moonlit nights held the promise of eternal love.
Her heart, once beating to the rhythm of a small town's simplicity, now quickened with every romantic gesture, every shared gaze, and every touch exchanged with the vampire princes. The bond between them deepened, and the feelings (Y/n) harbored for the boys grew, a symphony of emotions that resonated within the castle's grand walls.
As the moon continued its watchful gaze over the castle, the love story within its walls unfolded like a tapestry woven with threads of magic and destiny. The small town, now a distant memory, had given way to a life where each romantic moment marked a page in the timeless narrative that celebrated the extraordinary connection between mortals and immortals.
The romance, woven into the very fabric of their shared existence, became a testament to the enduring power of love that defied the constraints of mortality. Whether it was a dance beneath the chandeliers, a shared moment on the castle battlements, or a stolen kiss in the moonlit gardens, each romantic interlude added a new verse to the eternal ballad that bound the vampire princes and (Y/n) together.
In the castle's vast library, Youngbin and (Y/n) found a shared haven among the shelves of ancient tomes and modern novels. Engaged in passionate discussions about literature, their intellectual connection blossomed into something deeper. Amidst the scent of aging parchment, they shared stolen kisses, each one a promise sealed between the pages of a romantic novel.
In the serene castle gardens, Inseong became (Y/n)'s patient guide in the art of drawing. Surrounded by blooming flowers and the soft rustle of leaves, their afternoons were spent capturing the beauty of the world on paper. With each stroke of the pencil, a silent dialogue unfolded, expressing emotions that words could not convey.
Jaeyoon, with his affinity for nature, led (Y/n) through the enchanting castle greenhouse. Amidst vibrant blooms and exotic plants, they explored the hidden corners of the botanical sanctuary. The air filled with the sweet scent of flowers as they discovered the magic that flourished in the heart of the castle.
Dawon, with a penchant for elegance, whisked (Y/n) away on a shopping spree through the castle's extensive wardrobe. As he selected the most exquisite gowns, each fitting (Y/n)'s figure like a dream, their bond deepened amidst the swirl of silk and the shimmer of jewels.
In the heart of winter, Zuho created an enchanting ice rink within the castle grounds. Hand in hand, they glided across the frozen surface, the crisp air echoing with laughter and the scrape of skates. Under the starlit sky, Zuho guided (Y/n) through a dance on ice, a metaphor for the delicate balance of their shared journey.
Cozy nights in the castle's private theater became a sanctuary for (Y/n) and Rowoon. Snuggled under warm blankets, they watched movies that spanned genres, their laughter and shared commentary creating a soundtrack to their growing affection. In the dim glow of the screen, Rowoon held (Y/n) close, each frame capturing a moment frozen in time.
Taeyang, with the rhythm of a dancer's heart, twirled (Y/n) under the moonlit sky. The castle ballroom became a stage for their shared dances, each step a declaration of love set to the music that echoed through the grand halls. In the embrace of the waltz, Taeyang and (Y/n) found a harmony that transcended the ordinary.
Beneath the blanket of the midnight sky, Hwiyoung and (Y/n) shared intimate picnics on the castle battlements. Surrounded by the soft glow of lanterns, they exchanged innocent kisses as the stars bore witness to the quiet moments that illuminated the night.
In the castle's music room, Chani became (Y/n)'s patient instructor in the art of piano. Guiding her hands across the ivory keys, they created melodies that echoed through the castle corridors. In each chord and refrain, a symphony of emotions unfolded, expressing the depth of their connection in a language that only music could convey.
The castle, once a vast expanse that echoed with the footsteps of nine vampire princes, had held an air of grandeur that seemed to stretch into endless corridors. Despite the camaraderie among the princes, there lingered a sense of solitude, a quiet loneliness that whispered through the empty spaces.
However, with the arrival of (Y/n), the castle underwent a transformation. The once seemingly boundless halls now resonated with shared laughter, the warmth of companionship, and the echo of shared moments. The castle, once a majestic but solitary fortress, began to feel alive, each room infused with the energy of newfound connections.
The presence of just one more person had turned the castle into a home. The grandeur of its architecture and the opulence of its halls became the backdrop for a tale of love and shared destinies. The once-lonely corridors now held the imprint of shared footsteps, and the walls, witnesses to individual and collective moments, seemed to radiate a newfound warmth.
As (Y/n) navigated the castle's twists and turns, she found comfort in the familiarity of the vampire princes' presence. The once-never-ending halls now felt like a tapestry woven with threads of shared experiences, a testament to the bonds that had transformed a fortress into a home.
The castle, with its storied history and timeless architecture, became more than just a residence for the vampire princes. It became a haven, a sanctuary where love, laughter, and the echoes of shared moments filled the air. The once-lonely castle had found its heart, and that heartbeat in harmony with the collective rhythm of its newfound residents—a home that embraced the extraordinary and celebrated the magic of connection.

“Detention it’ll be, Mr Hwang,” the potion professor glared, superficially rubbing his robes from nonexistent dust.
“But professor, I didn’t do it on purpose!”
“Maybe if you cared more about your surroundings… The kitchen, tomorrow after your last classes. And ten points deducted.”
“Isn’t that a little unfair?” pleaded Hyunjin.
“Complain again and I’ll double the points.” With a last deadly look, the professor went on his way and the Gryffindor ran to Quidditch practice. “Don’t run if you don’t want another detention!”
Hyunjin obliged and walked until the professor was out of sight. Then, he sprinted like his life depended on it. Arriving at the pitch, he put on his Quidditch robes, took his broom and joined his teammates in five minutes chrono.
“Sorry I’m late, I was going so fast that I slipped and hit an armor, and it made a sword fly in the air right on…”
“Hyunjin,” started Chan, the captain.
“Sorry, sorry.”
“Wait, I want to know if the sword flew on someone,” said Chan’s best friend and chaser.
“Yeah, the potion professor. I quickly pulled out my wand though and stopped it right before it hit him. I got detention anyway, in the kitchen tomorrow.”
“It’s alright, we don’t have practice tomorrow. Good luck, I heard from Felix that Pitts isn’t happy these days.”
“Thank you for your concern,” pouted the younger before leaving the ground.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
“It’s the third time this month that you forget your homework, Y/N Yoo. I’ll have to deduct five points from you and give you detention.”
“I understand and I’m sorry, professor,” you said as you looked down, rubbing your wrist.
“You can apologize to your House as well, tsk,” you heard a fellow Ravenclaw mutter behind you.
Lia, your friend and classmate, shook your arm gently to reassure you while glaring at the student.
She proposed many times to help you manage your homework and you thought that today was the final cue to accept. Damn your forgetfulness.
At the end of class, the herbology professor said your detention would be the next day after class, in the kitchen.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Hyunjin was drained from practice, he sprawled on the couch after a hot shower and a second later, Heejin, one of his classmates, sat elegantly next to him.
“Hyunjin, want to help me on my defence against the dark arts homework? I’m really bad at it.”
Hyunjin couldn't see all the efforts Heejin put in getting attention out of the boy. It wasn't his fault he wasn't interested. Nor was it his fault she wouldn't back down on her own. He just let her be.
“Same here, you should ask someone else. Eric, for example,” he answered without opening his eyes. Eric was one of his closest friends in Gryffindor.
“Then what about we go out after classes tomorrow? We could go to Hogsmea-”
“I got detention, won’t be able to.”
“Oh, that’s too bad. Then I’ll get detention too, to spend time with you!”
Hyunjin finally opened his eyes and looked at Heejin in disbelief. She was, on the other hand, smiling innocently and feeling happy he would show some kind of attention to her.
“Why would you… get detention on purpose…? Those are awful…”
“I can take it, don’t worry about me,” she winked and as she got up to leave, she flipped her hair.
Hyunjin could only frown but eventually believed she wasn’t serious and relaxed against the couch, his homework could wait a few more minutes.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
The next day, Hyunjin and Heejin got out of class at the same time.
“Let’s go to detention together!” she excitedly said as she tried to take his arm in hers but failed miserably because they were going different ways. “Where are you going?”
“The kitchen.”
Her face dropped. “What? I have to polish the trophy room, oh my god.”
“Isn’t the caretaker the one that oversees this detention? You better run if you don’t want to be late.” Hyunjin left, fearing to be late himself while Heejin cursed under her breath.
It goes without saying that she spent a terrible time polishing countless awards and trophies without magic along with a few other students.
You were slowly walking to the kitchen like a condemned, not looking where you were going, so you bumped into a taller frame two meters from the kitchen doors —meaning you walked past it. You lost your balance and almost fell over but Hyunjin caught your arms and helped you steady.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking straight,” you apologized looking at the person. Realizing it was Hyunjin, your eyes widened, you quickly freed yourself from his hold and entered the kitchen right away, but not without hearing him chuckle. There were two other students already.
“New students for tonight. Two of you can wash the floor while the other two make sandwiches,” Pitts, the house-elf responsible for the kitchen, ordered. The Gryffindor and the Slytherin rushed to the tables to start making sandwiches but got stopped by a yelling Pitts. “Wash your hands first!”
Hyunjin and you shared a glance, silently judging the students that unfairly chose for you, in your opinion.
A smiling house-elf came to you and Hyunjin with mops and buckets full of water and cleaning products. “You can use these, try not to wash too close to the fire over there, another student did that two days ago and put it out. Pitts wasn’t pleased at all.”
“Thank you,” you shot him a smile and went at the end of the place to start away, doing it as neat as you could.
“Then I’ll do the other side,” whispered Hyunjin to himself. He didn’t really know how to clean efficiently, but he did his best, tripping a few times.
While you were almost done an hour later, you realized Hyunjin was not even in the middle and three house-elves were on the floor, massaging their butts. The other students changed tables and went to your area of cleaning to avoid their shoes from being soaked. He kept apologizing to everyone but also didn’t stop his mistake. You quickly finished your part and joined him on the dry part of the floor, behind him.
“Hyunjin,” you called and watched him get startled with an apologetic smile, “you’re putting too much water, it’s never going to dry.”
“I’m sorry, I’ve never done this before.”
“It’s alright,” you assured. You didn’t learn any spell that could do the trick —yet— but you knew house-elves could do a lot. “Can you dry out this area, please?” you asked a house-elf next to you who happily obliged. “Thank you!” You turned to Hyunjin. “So, you need to wring it first before washing the floor, like that.” You showed him how it was done and he thanked you four times in a row.
“You’re welcome, I wasn’t expecting an ace of Quidditch to know that anyway.”
He was taken aback by your remark, not really understanding what Quidditch had to do with his lack of cleaning knowledge. He felt like you were nicer to the house-elves than himself and he found it intriguing.
“I get that you’re judging me from my popularity, a lot of people do, but—”
“Popularity? You think you’re popular?” you asked, crossing your arms and raising an eyebrow.
“Wait, wrong choice of word. I meant reputation.” You slowly nodded, motioning for him to continue. “Anyway, don’t let my reputation cloud your judgment about me, please.”
“Why do you care what I think about you?” You were confused now and uncrossed your arms.
“I—” he blushed, embarrassed. “I don’t know, you seem cool and I’d like to be your friend?”
It was your turn to be taken aback, never would you have thought this would happen.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Your back was sore from all the moping you had to do —the kitchen had the same dimensions as the Great Hall so it was really huge. You complained to Lia, who half listened and half focused on her homework. You were seated at a table in your common room.
“Do you need help for your potion homework? I just finished it. We also have to write two parchments on how to take care of a kneazle for care of magical creatures.”
You sighed loudly. “What would I do without you?”
“You could start by buying a planner and note your homework on it. Then do them.”
“Nope. I prefer having you,” you smiled tiredly.
The 7th year keeper of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team entered the common room, spotted you and came to kiss your forehead.
“Hi sugarplum. How are you? You look tired.”
“I am, I got detention in the kitchen for forgetting my homework thrice.”
“Could have been easily prevented, then, huh? Please do your homework properly. I’m sorry Lia,” he added.
“Oh, it’s alright, don’t worry,” she blushed. “I can do that for my best friend.”
“Okay, dad,” you put your thumb up, eyes half closed.
“Big brother would be enough,” he laughed and left you to join his friends.
“Taeyang is so sweet, you’re so lucky to have a brother like him. Plus he’s really handsome.”
“Wipe your saliva before anyone notices,” you mocked as you got a closer look at your homework. You decided that you won’t be forgetting to do your homework anymore, it was too tiring.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Eric sat next to Hyunjin in the Great Hall during dinner.
“I metamorphosed some library books into crows and the librarian didn’t find it as funny as me. I got detention with Heejin, we had to polish silver without magic. She was mad. She kept muttering she got detention for nothing because you weren’t even there.”
“Well that’s a good thing I wasn’t seeing your fingers.” They were full of bandages.
“Oh, that? No, it’s from the fanged flyers I sent in the courtyard earlier. They’re not easy to stop.”
Hyunjin shook his head and chuckled. “You’re unbelievable. Aren’t you tired of getting detention?”
“I’m having fun so it’s worth it. By the way, how was yours?”
“I learned how to mop the floor and Y/N was there.”
“Y/N? They’re from Ravenclaw, right?” Hyunjin nodded. “Did you talk?”
“Yeah, I asked them if we could become friends.”
Eric gasped dramatically. “What did they say?”
“Yes,” he rolled his eyes at his friend’s mocking behavior. “Eat your chicken and french fries before they disappear.”
Heejin, who wasn’t that far from the two friends, heard it all and wasn’t pleased by the news. She searched for you at your table and decided to put an end to this nonsense, starting by trying to burn a hole on your head —from the intense staring.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
You loved transfiguration, the art was beautiful and you appreciated your accomplishments after putting lots of effort into them, because it wasn’t easy, at all.
No matter how hard you were focusing on the hedgehog in front of you, you couldn’t make it into an acceptable pincushion. Yours still had the hedgehog’s spines while Lia's next to you, still had feet and even tried to flee. Both of you used the reparifarge spell and kept trying. At the end of class, Lia managed to make a perfect pincushion while you were… getting there.
“Hyunjin,” called your professor, “would you please tutor Y/N?” Hearing your name, you looked at her with wide eyes. Were you this bad? “I’m sorry,” she said to you,” but I’m afraid you won’t pass the exams if you can’t do this after a week.” By that, she meant three hours of class.
Hyunjin stopped next to you without you noticing, smiling and waiting for you to start packing your stuff. “I’ll do it professor.”
“Professor! I have trouble transfiguring this as well, could Hyunjin help me too?” you heard Heejin ask from the back of the room. Lia and Eric rolled their eyes in unison.
“How inconsiderate must you be to want your classmate to tutor two people at the same time? Chaewon, would you please tutor Heejin?” The Ravenclaw agreed with a smile and you got out of class with the hedgehog in your hands, avoiding Heejin’s glare, Hyunjin and Lia beside you.
“Do you want to practice now? Or after lunch?” As if to answer his question, Lia’s stomach growled. You were hungry as well.
“Let’s eat first and meet up in the courtyard,” you proposed.
“Good idea, I’m starving,” said Eric as he put an arm around Hyunjin’s shoulders. He shot Lia his best smile, which she answered with a smirk, before taking your arm and walking to the Great Hall, the boys following.
The hedgehog sleeping in your robe’s pocket, you were eating in front of Lia on the Ravenclaw table.
“Oh my god, she’s at it again,” she grumbled.
You followed her gaze and turned around to see Heejin next to Hyunjin, clearly overstepping his personal space. Eric’s smile, on the other side of his friend, was gone and he looked upset. Hyunjin was just ignoring her, trying to eat and talk to Eric.
You preferred focusing on your plate and that was the moment Jeongin chose to push Heejin gently and sit at her place. She was about to protest but one look from the 3rd year Gryffindor closed her mouth.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Lia and Eric went their way to let you and Hyunjin practice in peace.
“Do you have the image of the pincushion in your head?” You nodded. “Okay, try.”
You did, and the pincushion had a head.
“Damn it,” you cursed.
Hyunjin used reparifagex right away. “It’s alright, it took me a while too.”
Yeah, like an hour, you thought.
“Your wand movement seems a bit off, can you show me again?” You nodded and tried again, without using the spell. “Hm. Can I?”
“Sure.” Hyunjin moved so he was behind you, putting his hand over yours. His hand was warm, enveloping yours perfectly. It felt like the movements he made were fine, elegant even, compared to the ones you did earlier. “I think I got it,” you smiled, turning to him.
Hyunjin let go of you with a nod, watching you try yet again. The pincushion was perfect, fancy color and neat sewing. “Yes! You did it!”
“It’s all thanks to you,” you said, trying a few more times to turn the hedgehog into a pincushion, just to be sure you mastered it.
“It’s my pleasure.”
You thought accomplishing this was enough for the professor but no, she wanted Hyunjin to keep tutoring you until the end of term.
“I’m so sorry, I’m going to be such a burden,” you whined as you got out of class, massaging your temple with two fingers.
“Not at all, we get to spend time together.” You looked at each other and shyly smiled.
Your friends, in the back, were smirking at the sight.
“Soon,” Eric whispered to Lia and she nodded.
“I don’t think so,” whispered Heejin from behind them. If looks could kill…
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
The next day after dinner, you were in your common room, doing your homework with Lia as usual. An owl entered by an opened window and landed on your shoulder. You recognized Soren, Hyunjin’s owl, for seeing her a few times delivering him posts on mornings. She lifted her talon so you could take the letter and after doing so, she affectionately nibbled on your ear before leaving.
You opened the letter. It was short and, as expected, from Hyunjin.
Y/N,
Would you meet me in the courtyard right now? I know it’s late and you might have other things to do— but I have something to tell you. I hope you’ll come.
Hyunjin
“Are you going?” asked Lia after reading the letter from above your shoulder.
“Yeah, I’m not turning down on Hyunjin,” you started, putting your stuff in your bag. “See you later,” you waved at your friend and left the common room to go to the courtyard.
Once there, however, Hyunjin was nowhere to be seen. Instead, you were greeted by Heejin, arms crossed, a disgusted look on her face.
“I can’t believe you came. What do you think he would say to you?”
You were annoyed to be deranged by her of all people. And for what? You never did anything to her. Your eyes rested on her bandaged fingers.
“What did you do to your fingers?” you asked, ignoring her previous question.
“This damn owl didn’t want to deliver my letter at first, she attacked me,” she said, clearly annoyed and you suppressed a laugh. “Anyway, stay away from Hyunjin. He’s too good for you.”
“You don’t know me but okay, is that all?”
Maybe you shouldn’t have been this disinterested by what she had to say— or she had planned to do it anyway, but the moment you turned around to go, she casted a hex on you.
“Colloshoo!” Your shoes stuck to the ground, you couldn’t move anymore. “Now you just need to wait for a professor,” she chuckled. Did she think you were this dumb?
I mean, you had a hard time in transfiguration, yes, but you were really good at charms.
You put out your wand and pointed to your shoes. “Finite Incantatem.” The effect of her hex got removed and you turned to face her. “I think you’ll need more than that to stop me.”
She sighed deeply and ultimately prepared for a duel. “Don’t chicken out now.”
“Just because I’m not a Gryffindor doesn’t mean I’m a coward. Langlock!”
Her tongue glued itself to the roof of her mouth, making her unable to speak. She clutched at her throat and ran away quickly. You decided to go back to your homework when you saw Heejin talking to the potion professor in one of the hallways. You couldn’t avoid them so you waited for them to come to you.
“And she just attacked me behind my back!” Heejin was smiling behind the professor but you still had her panicked face in mind when she couldn’t open her mouth.
“Y/N Yoo, did you just attack Miss Jeon?” he asked.
“Do you want to hear my side of the story or are you going to believe her lies?”
“I don’t have time for your little games, Yoo, I’m going to give you detention for attacking another student and wandering in the castle at night.”
“She sent me an owl asking me to come here, then used Colloshoo on me, and I get detention?”
“Maybe you should have stayed in your common room. Jeon, you’ll get detention for the same reasons.” If that was the only semblance of justice you were getting, you were going to accept it.
“What?” Heejin was not having it, though.
“But I won’t give you the same detention. Jeon, you’ll pickle rats’ brains in the dungeons tomorrow after class while Yoo, I heard the Hospital Wing needed hands to clean out the bedpans so you’ll do that.”
“Yes, professor.” The least you wanted to do was stay with these two so you rapidly went back to your common room, hearing Heejin’s protests in the distance. She probably got more trouble.
“How was it?” enquired Lia the moment you entered.
“Turns out it was Heejin wanting me to stop seeing Hyunjin.”
“What?! Where is she? I’m going to—”
“She complained to the potion professor —of all professors— and we both got detention. You better stay here.”
“What happened?”
You explained everything and she seemed really mad. “I wonder if she doesn’t have a rat’s brain,” was all she could mutter with clenched teeth.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
At the Hospital Wing for your detention, you found Hyunjin already there.
“Hyunjin?” you called.
“Y/N? Are you hurt?” His eyes widened at your sight and he ran to you.
“No, why would I be?”
“It’s the Hospital Wing, generally students come here when they need to,” he laughed.
“I have detention,” you pouted.
“Ah, me too. Eric used dungbombs in the toilets of the first floor and I happened to be there with him.”
“It sucks, I’m sorry. He seems to enjoy it though.” You started cleaning out the bedpans with him under the vigilant gaze of the school’s nurse.
“Trust me, he does! So, why are you here?” After you narrated yesterday’s events, he opened his mouth —only to close it a few moments later.
“No way… I’ll talk to her, I’m so sorry. This is embarrassing, she’s not even my friend.”
“It’s okay, I know how to take care of myself,” you winked, which reassured him a little.
“But… What she did isn’t okay, if only just the fact she used Soren, my precious owl…”
“She’s really sweet by the way,” you smiled at the souvenir of his owl’s affectionate behavior towards you.
Heejin wasn’t in neither of your mouths for the remaining hours in detention, preferring talking about the things you had in common and made you both smile.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Hyunjin did keep his promise, because the second Heejin went to see him in their common room, all smooth and smiling, he confronted her.
“Hi Hyunj-”
“We need to talk.” His voice was firm, his face closed.
Heejin acted confused and worried, putting one of her hands on his arm. “What’s wrong?”
“Let’s talk privately,” he continued, leaving the common room to go in the nearest empty hallway, Heejin right behind him. “What you did to Y/N was so wrong, and don’t get me started on Soren.”
Heejin’s expression changed at your mention, of course you told him, what a snitch. “It’s not what you think,” she pleaded.
“And what am I thinking?”
“I— she attacked me first!” she tried.
He sighed exasperatedly. “I’m in no place to tell you what to do but it’s in your best interest to stay away from Y/N, Soren and me, from now on. If you could stop obsessing over me, it would be cool too. Please, wake up and stop trying to get me to like you, I won’t. I can't. I like someone else.”
He was about to leave when Heejin grabbed his arm. “It’s Y/N, isn’t it?” she rolled her eyes in annoyance. “They came out of nowhere and stole your heart just like that, while I was there from the beginning and gave you everything.”
“I’m sorry, but you were suffocating me. I don’t think that’s love.”
She stared at him for a while then finally let him go, looking down. “I— I understand. I’m sorry for hurting you.”
Hyunjin smiled. “I forgive you, and Y/N and Soren deserve an apology too.”
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
The next day, Heejin came to you as you were going to a tutor lesson with Hyunjin.
“Y/N, can I talk to you?” she blushed in embarrassment.
“Are you going to hex me if I refuse?” you raised an eyebrow. She shook her head in disagreement. “What do you want?”
“I wanted to apologize for what I did to you. It wasn’t right, I shouldn’t have done that. I was jealous of you and wanted Hyunjin for myself.” She had slump shoulders but maintained eye contact.
“What made you change your mind?” you frowned, still being a bit suspicious.
“Hyunjin, actually. He talked to me and made me realize how unhealthy and delusional I was being. I’m really sorry, Y/N. I’m not asking you to forgive me, though.”
You genuinely smiled at Heejin and offered a hand to shake. “I do. Let’s bury the hatchet.”
She happily shook your hand and you parted ways to go to your lesson.
“I just spoke to Heejin,” you said as you arrived in front of Hyunjin, seated on a bench in the courtyard. He opened his eyes wide. “She apologized and I forgave her.”
He sit up straight. “You did?”
“Yeah, you did too, right?” you said as you sat next to him.
“She told you?”
“No, I figured. You seem to be indulgent.”
“I guess I am. I’m glad she willingly apologized.”
“Oh, I thought you made her do it?” you joked.
You both laughed and started working on cross-species switches —a pain.
After the tutoring, you were doing your homework with Lia. Taeyang entered the common room and sat next to you at the table.
“Y/N, who’s the guy I saw you with earlier?” he enquired, looking over your neatly done herbology homework.
“I need you to be more specific.” You knew who he was talking about but you could have your part of fun from time to time.
“There’s more I don’t know about?!” His shocked expression was worth it.
“You know him, why act like you don’t?”
“So he is a Gryffindor’s chaser. You’re not feeling like befriending the enemy?” he joked.
“It’s not like I was playing and you’ll always be my number one Quidditch player.”
“I better be. So are you more than friends?” he smirked.
“Oh my god no Tae, and don’t you dare give me the talk!” You took your stuff to finish your homework on your bed, knowing Tae wouldn’t follow you there.
“I’m just asking, but you’re defensively answering, plus you’re fleeing. You’re hiding something from me, I know it,” he said to himself, comfortably installed in the chair, lost in his thoughts.
Lia whispered something to your brother then followed you upstairs and you both worked on your respective homeworks.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
“We got a friendly match coming up this weekend with Ravenclaw, so I want all of you to do your best. Their keeper and seeker are particularly good,” said Chan at practice.
“We weren’t expecting a friendly before at least three weeks, what happened?” asked Hyunjin.
“I don’t really know, Chaeyoung asked for this, and said it was important.”
When Hyunjin joined the pitch that day, he thought he understood why this friendly was being held. Taeyang was on his broom, flying over the stands where you were, talking together. He grew anxious and a bit jealous, because Taeyang was a really good —and intimidating— keeper and apparently, you were also close to him.
During the friendly, you were cheering for your house team and lowkey Hyunjin. He scored some goals but Taeyang stopped a large amount of quaffles. Ravenclaw won after Jisung caught the snitch.
After the match, you waited for the teams outside of the changing room with a bag full of cauldron cakes.
Jisung and Chani were the first ones to go out and thanked you after you congratulated them and offered them some cakes. Then Hyunjin came out.
“Hey, what did you think of the match?”
“It was great. You were great, flying like an eagle.”
He giggled. “Thank you.”
“I must admit, you’re pretty good on a broom,” a voice said from behind you. Taeyang put his arm on your shoulder and took a cauldron cake from the bag in your hand. Hyunjin was a bit intimidated so he thanked him quietly, his eyes fixed on his hand on your shoulder.
“I present you my big brother,” you smiled and his eyes widened. He immediately felt stupid for being jealous and looked away.
“I’m Hyunjin,” he proposed his hand, which your brother shook strongly.
“Taeyang. I’ll keep an eye on you, just so you know. Don’t mess with my sugar plum.” You grimaced at the nickname, he had to use it now.
Hyunjin gulped and shook his head vividly. “I would never.”
You were embarrassed and the rest of the teams coming out saved you. You offered the rest of the cauldron cakes to everyone and fled to the castle.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Next saturday, you were wandering alone through the castle —Lia went to Hogsmeade with Eric— when your brother came to you.
“Y/N, I got an owl from dad. With no surprise, he told me to keep an eye on you and to keep you away from trouble.”
“How sweet of him. Couldn’t send an owl directly to me and ask how I’ve been, though?” That was your dad. And hearing about him angered you.
“Y/N… don’t be like that, please.”
“Like what? Did he ask how I was in your letter?” His silence answered your question. “See? My time in detention is all he cares about, I’m tired.”
“I’m going to answer him. Stay inside the castle, it’s going to rain soon.”
“Whatever.” It’s frustrated and angry that you walked outside, between the castle and the Quidditch pitch. You looked for a mud and poop free area, lied down and took deep breaths.
Your dad was a Quidditch player in his years at Hogwarts. He was so good at it that he made the national team after he graduated. His whole life was dedicated to Quidditch, so he was beyond proud when Taeyang made the house team in his second year, like your dad. But he was also extremely disappointed when you didn’t even bother to go to the tryouts, despite the pressure your dad was putting on you.
Your brother was supportive of your choices and always defended you against your dad, but it was pointless. He acted like you were dishonoring the family and his ‘legacy’. It hurt you to the core, but you wanted to live your own life like you intended to, not like your dad or anyone else wanted you to.
You could have hated Quidditch because of all this, but you kept on supporting your brother and your house team, by coming to the practices and bringing sweets along for the team. Your brother often asked you to stop, saying you were just going to make them gain weight but they never said no to your gifts, especially not Jisung and Chani.
You looked at the sky, trying to clear your head. It was blue with lots of white clouds and you closed your eyes for a while, enjoying the breeze. Around twenty minutes later, you felt drops hitting your nose, then your forehead and neck. Milliseconds were enough for the rain to pour like a waterfall. You sighed and put your robe’s cap over your head. The castle was further than expected but you didn’t run.
Suddenly, you didn’t feel the rain anymore although it was still pouring. You lifted your head and saw Hyunjin on his broom, an umbrella in his hand put above you. He had his Quidditch outfit on, water dripping from his damped hair. He smiled sweetly at you and your cheeks burned from the kind gesture. You ran to the castle so Hyunjin wouldn’t have to do that for too long and he didn’t have problems following you. When you arrived at the big door, your gaze went to the Quidditch pitch and despite the weather, you could see forms flying around, meaning one thing: Hyunjin was having practice and ditched it for you. He shook his hair while you looked at him and smiled fondly.
“Your hair is sticking out everywhere. Cute.” Your eyes widened at what you just said and coughed. “Thank you for the help. You were having practice, right?”
Hyunjin chuckled at your expressions. “No problem, Y/N. Yes, Chan will understand why I left.”
“Alright, you should go back now. Don’t catch a cold!” He was going higher but stopped to give you the umbrella.
“You’ll need this more than me. I suggest you go dry yourself and stay by a fireplace. Bye!”
He flew to the Quidditch pitch and you were left there, your heart ready to combust from the cuteness of the conversation you just had.
You entered the castle and Taeyang found you in the hallway.
“Didn’t I tell you to stay inside?” His disapproving look didn’t wash away your smile and heart eyes.
“I don’t regret it.”
Your brother used the hot-air charm to dry your clothes and you thanked him, before going to your common room together.
“I told dad you were doing good and that you could take care of yourself just fine. You okay?”
“Yes, yes I’m good. Thank you. You’re the best brother ever,” you chanted, linking his arm to your own.
“I’m your only brother, it’s easy.” He 100x preferred seeing you smile than being upset, and wanted your happiness above all, even your dad’s wishes.
You sat together on a couch close to the fireplace to fight the cold.
“How do you put up with the pressure dad’s putting on you?” you asked.
He thought for a while then shrugged. “I love Quidditch and I’d rather he focuses on me to let you breathe. I’m sorry it’s not going as planned, I just wish he would stop caring about Quidditch so much.” You hugged your brother tightly. You were thankful for him.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
It was May and the last Quidditch matches of the season were being held. Slytherin had won against Hufflepuff, and the points in the match opposing Gryffindor to Ravenclaw were going to be crucial to know the winner of the Quidditch Cup.
You were excited to know which house would win this year and of course, you supported your own house, and Hyunjin.
You went to see him before the match at breakfast. “I’m rooting for you. But also my brother and my house team. Anyway, good luck.”
You left before he could reply so you had no idea how happy and confident it made him. Albeit you could feel it on the pitch when he came on his broom. You were in the stands with Lia and Eric, respectively in your house colors, and you must admit Hyunjin’s name left your mouth a lot during the match, maybe even more than Taeyang’s.
“300-270 for Gryffindor and the golden snitch isn’t caught yet,” said Jangjun, one of the commentators.
“Come on Jisung,” you heard Lia whisper beside you.
Your eyes were on Hyunjin. He avoided Chaeyoung and gave the quaffle to Lisa, allowing her to approach the goal. She pretended to shoot and your brother fell for it.
“Lisa scores! 310 for Gryffindor,” shouted Felix, the second commentator.
“It looks like Jisung has seen the snitch,” commented Jangjun. “Mark is right behind him. He’s gaining ground… Jisung’s giving his all… and he catches the snitch!”
“Ravenclaw wins 420 to 310!” announced Felix.
All the Ravenclaws jumped and screamed, pumping their fist into the air. You were really happy for your house team. Gryffindor did lose this match, but they accumulated the most points so they won the Quidditch Cup.
“We were 40 points away from the Quidditch Cup,” Taeyang had said in the common room where every Ravenclaw celebrated their victory. “But we did great on the match. I’m really proud of every single one of you. I could’ve stopped more quaffles—”
“Hey, you stopped a really large amount of quaffles and no one here could have done the same,” you said as-a-matter-of-factly.
You could hear some people agreeing with you and the screams intensified.
“Thanks Y/N. To our victory!” he cheered, raising his butterbeer into the air.
The crowd echoed and the party lasted until late but paused for dinner. In the Great Hall, you could see the pride in every Gryffindor’s eyes interested enough in Quidditch. You saw Hyunjin and gave him a thumbs up and a big smile but you definitely didn’t expect him to run to your house table and take you into a big hug, which you reciprocated, obviously.
Lia's smile widened and she discreetly clapped her hands while a few Ravenclaws gasped and stared at the two of you with wide eyes, including your brother. He knew there was something going on with the two of you, but, like you, he didn’t expect that to happen here and now.
“I think I did so well thanks to your encouragement so I wanted to thank you for it,” he whispered cheerfully in your ear.
“Are you sure? It was really awkward, not really an inspirational speech,” you jested.
“Yeah,” he laughed, a light sound you couldn’t get bored of hearing. “Maybe it’s because it was you.” He sounded more serious so you moved back to make eye contact. Neither of you cared about the people around you. “Y/N, spending time with you is the highlight of my days. You’re dazzling and I really, really like you.”
You smiled until your eyes crinkled. “Hyunjin, you happen to be a really good guy whose presence makes me incredibly happier. My life has been brighter since I met you. I like you too, like a whole lot,” you giggled and his smile couldn’t be wider.
He hugged you tight again and when you opened your eyes, you were met with your brother’s. He was smiling contently, giving you a thumbs up.

LOVE FOOL — CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
word count: 2.8k (2897)
warning: small inappropriate joke
————————————————————————
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It didn’t take long for the school gym to fill up with students the day before Halloween (the staff didn’t want to work on Halloween night). The gym was decorated by student council after school with cobb webs and anything spooky like to make it look semi decent. Luckily Riki’s parents had a few fog machines that they lent us for the night so the place wasn’t too boring.
Left and right were students dressed in their costumes and teachers making sure that these costumes were school appropriate. It was surprising that people were actually attending the dance since teenagers these days hate those kinds of things, but stuco was grateful nonetheless.
Entering the gym with Jake, you quickly found the table where all your friends were sitting at. And there at the table was Minjeong… and Heeseung sitting next to her. They were dressed as Shaggy and Velma; an obvious couples costume.
Everyone except for those two and Taeyang’s girlfriend noticed your expression. Keeho gave an apologetic look but you shook it off.
“Where’s the rest of your friends?” You asked to Jake, taking Keeho’s drink and swallowing it all. He gave an offended look at you, but he wasn’t planning on commenting on it when he already knew you were in a mood.
“I’m not sure,” Jake responded. “Im sure they’re—”
“Let’s go hang out with them.”
Jake gave you wide eyes. He didn’t have a problem hanging out with your friends, and since Heeseung was here it all worked out anyway. But he saw the look in your eyes and could tell you wanted to leave.
“Wait, dance with me first!” Yizhuo exclaimed, snatching your arm and stealing you away from your date.
While you got dragged to the dance floor, you apologized to Jake and continued to follow your friend. Yizhuo did want to dance with you, but she was also here to interrogate you.
“You don’t want to sit with us?” She asked with a smile on her face to avoid your friends asking questions. She knew at least some of them were staring.
“I do!” You exclaimed in defense. “I just don’t want to be around Heeseung or Theo.”
“Theo? Why Theo?”
“It’s just super awkward. I don’t even know how it got like that.”
Yizhuo furrowed her brows as she grabbed your hands to dance closer together. “Did you like him? At least at some point in your life?”
“Yiz, I don’t want to talk about this right now. I’m supposed to have fun. Not talk about boys.”
“You’re right,” she sighed, a smile coming onto her face. “Besides, Jake is hot and you look good with him!”
You couldn’t stop the blush from creeping up on your face. “It’s not like that between us.”
“But it should be! He’s totally into you!” Yizhuo leaned closer. “Don’t look now, but he hasn’t taken his eyes off you since I dragged you away.”
You almost turned your head but fought against it. Jake couldn’t like you; it would ruin everything. If he liked you, it would mean that you were off limits to all his friends. And you were not trying to look like a homie hopper!
“Just give him a chance,” she whispered in your ear.
After you and Yizhuo finished dancing to a few songs, you guys went back to her table to get a drink. You couldn’t approach Jake so easily now after talking to your friend about it. You just couldn’t bring yourself to feel any romantic attraction towards him.
“Do you want to dance?” You heard Minjeong ask. It made you look up, meeting eyes with Heeseung before he quickly looked away.
“No,” he answered. “I don’t think I’ll be dancing tonight.”
“Then why did you come,” you then asked, annoyed. He didn’t want to come in the first place so why was he here now? His existence was bothering you at this point.
Heeseung looked up, shocked at what you said and falling speechless. You rolled your eyes, taking Jake’s hand and pulling him away from the rest of them. Keeho and Jiung couldn’t stop themselves from laughing, which earned them a glare from Heeseung. He didn’t know why you were suddenly acting so cold towards him. Meanwhile, Taeyang was side eyeing him, knowing that he definitely upset you after calling her dance boring.
Dancing with Jake definitely felt foreign to you, but it felt good. He was refreshing to be around, and he also smelled really good so you couldn’t stay away from him. He also couldn’t stay away from you; his hands couldn’t leave your body whether it was your waist or your arm, he just had to be touching you.
“Hands to yourself, you two!” A deep voice shouted, and Jake immediately took his hands off you. “Got you!” The obnoxious laugh of Park Sunghoon took you by surprise. You’ve never talked to him ever, so it made you a bit nervous to be meeting the rest of Jake’s friends finally.
“Yn,” he greeted. “Looking lovely as always.” Sunghoon was very prince like. You didn’t know if he was always this polite or if he was just trying to be nice to you since you were here with Jake.
“Thank you,” you answered.
“Stop trying to flirt,” Jay then said. “He’s just trying to woo you. Ignore him.”
You nodded then greeted Jay. They took you and Jake to their table where Sunoo, Riki, and Jungwon also were. It was actually very comfortable sitting with them; Sunghoon and Jay weren’t weird and they were fun to talk to. Definitely not ideal for you since you’d rather be with your own friends, but you were glad to be with familiar faces.
Sunoo and Sunghoon couldn’t stop bickering and it made you laugh a lot. It was mostly Sunghoon teasing Sunoo, but it was amusing to watch Sunoo get annoyed so easily. Jungwon and Jay were also very close to each other it seemed. They were more calm compared to Sunghoon and Sunoo, and the contrast was odd.
“So~” Riki slid closer to you with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “You and Jake, huh?” He gave you the wiggly eyebrows and you shoved him lightly.
“You do realize he’s right next to me right?” You asked. Jake was quite literally pressed against your side and could definitely hear Riki clearly.
“Yeah, I know.” His grin turned up more. “I’m purposely doing it.”
“Leave her alone, Riki,” Jake sighed, already knowing what he was up to.
Laughing awkwardly, you looked away from Riki and stood before announcing that you needed to use the restroom. Anything Riki had to say was definitely up to no good and you wanted to avoid his questions as much as possible. He always found a way to twist things which freaked you out because how did he know so much?
You left the gym to “find the restroom” but really you just needed a quiet place to think for a moment. There wasn’t much to think about except the fact that you were here with Jake instead of Taeyang or even Heeseung for that matter. Jake just came out of no where and now you were stuck.
The quiet was peaceful. It was a little cold outside too especially with the wind. So now you were left alone with your thoughts and the sound of the wind pushing leaves and shaking the trees.
Footsteps sounded near you, making you look up from the floor and up to the noise. It was the last person you wanted to see. Lee Heeseung. There was no way he was here to see you. It was definitely just a coincidence and he probably came outside to find the restrooms.
“Enjoying your night?” He ask, taking a seat next to you on the planter box that you were sitting at. You just stared at him in disbelief as he stared straight ahead. Why was he deciding to talk to you now of all places and why all of a sudden?
“I am,” you answered, looking away from him. “I didn’t know you and Minjeong were close.”
“We’re not.” You didn’t look at him even though you could see him staring at you from the corner of your eye.
“That’s a little harsh considering you’re here with her tonight.” You tried you best to calm down, but the shakiness in your voice gave away your nervousness.
Heeseung let out a deep sigh. “She asked me to come with her and it would’ve been rude to say no since we sit next to each other in class.”
You nodded, not needing to say anything else. He didn’t owe you an explanation and you didn’t want one from him. It’s not like you guys were anything anyways.
“It got really awkward at the table when you left,” he said sudddenly. “Theo’s date stormed off after a while. He must’ve said something to upset her.”
Again, you nodded.
“Then Yizhuo got asked to dance by someone in her year. Jiung and Keeho stayed back after Minjeong went to the restroom, and now I’m here to avoid them asking me any questions.”
You couldn’t help but let out a laugh. “Me too. I had to leave before Riki starting asking me things he didn’t need an answer to.”
Heeseung laughed with you. “Yeah, that kid is pretty mischievous.”
The two of you went silent for a moment. The tension was there and it felt very awkward. You wanted to leave, but you didn’t know if Heeseung still wanted to talk. Maybe he wanted to leave too. So you stood up.
“I should get back first,” you announced. “Jake’s probably wondering where I am and Minjeong will be thinking the same thing.”
Heeseung pursed his lips and frowned; something you noticed but wished you didn’t see. What did that mean? All you could do was now overthink it. What if Heeseung liked you? No… He couldn’t… right?
“Okay,” he sighed. “See you later.”
You nodded before turning around quickly and making your way back to the gym. When you found your way back to your table, Jake wasn’t there.
“Where’s Jake?” You asked the boys.
“He went looking for you,” said Jungwon, sipping on his drink.
“Yeah, you were gone for quite a while,” Riki then said. “It was almost as if you were… with someone else?”
“Oh, be quiet Riki,” you playfully scoffed. “Shouldn’t you be dancing right now, showing off how talented you are?”
“I’m resting right now, I’ll have you know!”
“Sure you are.”
“Do you want to have a dance battle, Yn?”
“You’ll catch me dead before I freestyle.”
Riki suddenly became serious. “What’s wrong with freestyling?”
“I physically cannot watch it. Unless you’re a really good dancer, it’s cringe. And I can’t dance anyway so I’d definitely not free style.”
“Are you making fun of my freestyle,” Riki fake pouted.
“Well are you a really good dancer like you claim to be?”
“Yes!” He slammed a fist on the table. “I’m awesome! I dance all day everyday! My parents own a dance studio!”
You laughed at how adorable he looked trying to convince you badly. “Okay, I believe you.” You held in the rest of your laughter and he leaned back in his seat.
Before Riki could come back with another remark, Jake came back and sat down next to you. You could feel the uneasiness coming from him and felt as if you did something wrong.
“Wanna dance?” You asked him, but he shrugged. “Oh… Are you alright?”
“Yeah I’m fine,” he answered dryly. “Just feeling a little sick.”
You were quick to make a move, placing the back of you hand on his forehead to feel him. He felt normal, but you figured he was just tired and overwhelmed from all the lights.
“Do you want to leave?” You asked. “I’ll take you home.” You suddenly had the urge to take care of him. The two of you never acted affectionate towards each other, but you felt the need to take control. Maybe it was because he was younger than you; all you knew was that you wanted to take Jake home and make sure he was feeling okay.
“It’s okay, I don’t want to ruin your—”
“I wanna go home,” you interrupted. “Come on.”
The two of you said your goodbyes to his friends and made your way to the table with yours, saying goodbye to them as well. Heeseung stared a little too long after you guys left the table, and Minjeong rolled her eyes after noticing.
“Wanna get out of here?” She asked him, hoping he’d take her home.
“You can leave if you want,” Heeseung said nonchalantly, not even realizing how rude that sounded. “I need to find my friends.”
“I’m your date, though!”
“I can’t hang out with my friends for a little bit?”
Keeho and Jiung gave each other a look, trying hard to fight back a laugh at their friend. Taeyang even found the moment a bit funny, but he of all people shouldn’t be laughing right now after he and his girlfriend got into an argument earlier.
Heeseung left the table and Minjeong scoffed, annoyed and regretting asking him to come to the dance with her. She looked over at the rest of her friends and rolled her eyes at them too since they were obviously entertained with her basically getting dumped.
“And for the first time it’s Yn who is getting action,” Keeho laughed which made Jiung and Taeyang laugh with him.
“Why the hell are you laughing, Taeyang!” Minjeong exclaimed. “Your girlfriend is dancing with another man as we speak.”
“What!” The boy shouted, jumping up from his seat and leaving to find her.
“Assholes.” Minjeong scoffed again and left the dance.
Keeho sipped on his drink. “She always gets so worked up when we tease her.”
“She’s just sensitive,” Jiung said before Yizhuo came stumbling to their table.
“Where’s Yn?” She asked. “There’s a circle forming around Heeseung and some girl right now!”
“She left just a while ago,” said Jiung. “And what do you mean?”
“Is he getting in a fight!” Keeho exclaimed, suddenly up at his feet. “Show me the way.”
The three left to find the crowd around Heeseung, pushing past people to get to the front.
Meanwhile, you were walking Jake home and it was dead silent between the two of you. You weren’t sure if you should say something or just keep this silence, but you were having a nice night with Jake and he was suddenly so gloomy.
“Did you have fun?” You asked, looking up at him and awaiting a response, but he only nodded. “Doesn’t seem like it. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” he said. You knew better than to believe him.
“Did I do something wrong?”
“No.”
“It feels like I did.”
“You did nothing wrong.”
“Just tell me what’s wrong.”
“Nothing is wrong. I want to go home, so just leave me alone.”
You paused for a second, feeling hurt at the rejection. He didn’t want to be around you, and now you knew you did something wrong. Jake continued to walk; he noticed you stopped, but he didn’t care.
“Sorry for ruining your night,” you mumbled before turning the opposite direction and walking away.
You thought Jake wouldn’t hear you, but he did. He heard you clearly even if you were mumbling. Because it was quiet outside, it was very much audible. But he continued to walk; he kept going but guilt was eating him alive. It was cold and dark outside, and you left his side. Now he was stressed out over something bad happening to you. You were defenseless at the moment, and even if you weren’t, you didn’t have one strong muscle in your body if something bad were to happen.
Turning around, Jake went to look for you. He wasn’t sure which way you went, but he would look all night if he had to. He could’ve easily called you; however, he knew you wouldn’t have picked up. Not after how he treated you tonight.
“Are you guys leaving yet?” He heard your voice around the corner, stopping so you wouldn’t hear him getting closer. “No, Jake went home by himself and I forgot my house keys.” Why didn’t you just call Jake? He would’ve let you stay if he knew you couldn’t go home tonight. “Oh… yeah. That’s fine. I’ll just meet you guys there.”
You hung up the phone, and looked around your surroundings. It was scary being out at night by yourself, especially when it was dark outside and freezing cold. However, you quickly stood up and started speed walking towards Taeyang’s house. Your friends were all going to spend the night there, so you decided to join them since your parents would be out late for work and you couldn’t get inside without your keys.
Jake followed you up until you met up with your friends halfway. He felt relieved that you were with people you trust, and it was a group so nothing could’ve gone wrong. When he felt sure enough that you’d be okay, he turned around and headed back to his house. He was definitely going to apologize to you; even if it bruised his ego a lot, he owed you one.

DRIVE ME CRAZY . . . 최태양 !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRING. non idol! theo x gn! reader GENRE. fluff, friends to implied lovers? WARNINGS. none (lmk if i missed anything!) WC. 906 words
𓂋˚˖ A/N. i can guarantee you this happened to me when i tried manual for the first time except where is my choi taeyang 😔😔
Tumblr media
“THE ENGINE DIED AGAIN,”
“Huh?” you stare at the dashboard in front of you in disbelief as half of the control lights that remained ‘on’ burn into your soul once again. “But I swear, I hardly even moved my foot!” Giving up, you let your hands fall on your seat with a thump.
“That’s the fifth in the past 30 minutes,” Taeyang tries to announce as blankly as he could but failing as you knew he was trying so hard to keep his laughter in.
“Why did you suddenly want to learn how to drive anyway? Let alone a manual car. You could just do automatic if you really wanna drive,” Even if you weren’t looking at him, you can feel Taeyang’s eyes trained on your defeated figure.
When you suddenly asked him a few days ago to teach you how to drive, he was surprised to say the least. It was only a few weeks ago when you confidently stated that you had zero plans of learning how to operate a car, saying you wanted to take your time with “adulting” and “growing up”. And yet, here you were, behind the steering wheel of none other than Taeyang’s own manual car, which he really just borrowed from his parents.
Now, looking at you in this state, determined yet almost on the verge of breaking down, reminds him of when he himself attempted to drive this very same car a few months ago. He knows exactly how you’re feeling in the moment, but he can only really smile in faux sympathy and try his best to keep you from losing all your sanity on the wheel.
“Because,” you whine exasperatedly, prolonging the ‘s’ a little too long. “I’m big now. Almost everyone I know is taking lessons or has a license already. And they all said learning manual first would be more beneficial than auto,” you pause before you continue. “And stick shift drivers are cool,”
“So you’re saying I’m cool?”
Even if your head was facing your lap, he doesn’t miss the smile that grows on your face as you slip one of your hands from being trapped between your head and the wheel and slap his arm, causing his teasing smile to let out his signature laugh.
“When did I say you weren’t?” you giggle, unsure of what your friend was trying to get at.
Your head still leaning on your hands, you turn towards Taeyang, who’s still looking at you with a face that lets you know you have his full attention. Taking his silence as a cue to continue, you lean back again on your seat and look forward outside the windshield at nothing in particular.
“Plus I saw my schedule for this sem and talked to my parents about it. No one can really take me to campus coz it’s out of the way, and they don’t want me to take public transpo yet since I’d be going alone,”
“I’m literally right here,” You turn towards Taeyang again, whose face has become as serious as it can get, and frown in confusion, prodding him to elaborate. “I can drive you around; we literally go to the same uni,”
“You know I can’t ask you to do that. My house is farther from the campus than yours is,”
He just shrugs as he looks away from you. “So? I’d gladly do it anyway,”
“What if I have to go somewhere after classes? Or what if you’re in class and you can’t be my personal driver?”
His gaze focuses on whatever he was looking at outside the window as if he’s thinking over what you just suggested.
“Okay, point taken,” He turns back to you and slaps his hands on his thighs, giving up on trying to come up with other options for you for the time being. “Then I guess we’re both stuck here,”
You face the road in front of you once again as you take a deep breath and sigh. If you were being honest, you had no issues being stuck learning how to drive a manual car as long as Taeyang was the one who would teach you and also watch you commit the beginner mistakes—but you would never admit that out loud to him.
Taeyang chuckles as he watches you start the engine again and step on the clutch, taking you through every step and saying words of encouragement in between.
After another hour of trying to drive, you finally manage to get the car moving without the engine dying and even drive around your neighborhood in second gear. He commented how he didn’t even get to the second gear on his first time, which definitely made you feel better. Once you felt you had enough driving for one day, both of you switched seats, and he took you to your and his favorite ice cream shop as a reward for today’s lesson, mood switching up by the hundreds and mind completely off cars and driving.
The next day, Taeyang arrives with his car at the same time as the previous day and quickly transfers to the front passenger seat. The moment you come jogging out your door and into the car, you immediately announce, “Okay so I’ve been thinking, and you know what, I take it back. I’m not doing manual ever again.”

Miyoung sat on her bed reading. She had recently picked up No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai and was loving it. She was definitely going to reread it.
She reached for her coffee that she had on her bedside table as she reread the last bit of the current chapter she was on. She really liked the style of this author. Though she had really been liking a lot of different styles lately, seeing as she had been filling her time with reading lately. If she wasn’t filming for her channel, she was reading.
All this reading may or may not be her way of coping. (Coping with Youngbin and Inseong being gone due to enlistment.) Miyoung had no idea how she was going to deal with all of her members, if only two had enlisted and she was struggling.
Basically, in Miyoung’s mind, if she spends less time with her members now, it’ll hurt less when they leave. Was it working? Of course not. She was miserable. And she was pretty sure that her members were starting to worry, which was never a good thing.
Miyoung startled when the door to her room opened. Looking up, she saw Seokwoo and Sanghyuk walk in. She was not ready for whatever shenanigans they were about to bring, but judging by their faces, Miyoung knew that there was no way for her to avoid it.
“What do you want?” she asked, closing her book. She folded her arms over her chest, raising a brow at the two. They in turn, side-eyed each other then smirked as they walked over to her.
“We miss you,” Seokwoo said, pouting.
“We saw each other this morning,” Miyoung shook her head.
“Yeah, in passing. After you got your coffee, you came back in here and haven’t left ever since,” Sanghyuk whined, walking over to her and sitting on her bed.
Miyoung shrugged, picking at a loose thread of her sweat shorts.
“Mimi, we’re not scolding you. It’s just that this has been happening a lot. Other than practice, we’ve barely seen you,” Seokwoo said, sitting on the floor next to where she was on the bed.
She shrugged again.
“Is there a reason why you’re avoiding us?” the taller of the two asked.
“I’m not avoiding you,” Miyoung was quick to respond.
“Really, now?” Sanghuyk asked, raising his own brow at the girl.
“I’m not! I’ve just been busy,” Miyoung shrugged, though she wasn’t sure if that was going to hold up in court.
“Reading doesn’t count, Mimi. Plus you’re a fast reader. So when you’re done with a book you should have plenty of time to hang out with us,” Jaeyoon said from the doorway.
Miyoung glared at him as he walked through, the rest of the boys trailing behind him. This was starting to feel like an intervention of sorts.
“What is this?” she asked, waving vaguely at everyone as they sat at her desk, her bed, or on the floor.
“It’s exactly what you think it is,” Taeyang said, climbing over her to sit between her and the wall.
“An intervention,” Chanhee nodded.
“We don’t know what’s going on exactly, but last time you pulled away from us, you were being assaulted,” Juho said.
Miyoung stilled. They were right. She scoffed at herself, breaking her promise of always coming to them no matter what.
“You think this is funny?” Youngkyun asked, frowning.
“Listen, we can’t read you the way Youngbin-hyung can. We don’t know what’s wrong, but we can at least see that something’s wrong,” Juho said, folding his arms over his chest.
“I’m laughing, but not because it’s funny. It’s because I thought I had changed, but I didn’t. I’m still hiding things and possibly leading to trouble,” Miyoung said, running her hands through her hair.
The boys looked at each other then back at Miyoung, as Taeyang spoke up. “Then tell us.”
Miyoung covered her face with her hands. She could feel her face heating up. The fact that she was pulling away from them because she didn’t want to have to deal with the emotions that will come with them enlisting, was embarrassing.
“Are you in trouble?” Juho asked.
The visual looked up, shaking her head, “I’m not. I promise you.”
“Then what?” Sanghyuk asked.
“It’s embarrassing,” she answered, shrugging. Miyoung chewed on her lip, looking at her hands.
At that, the boys all looked at each other. Deeming it better that she feel embarrassed over unsafe, they agreed to wait for her.
“Then you don’t have to tell us now,” Seokwoo said.
“As long as you’re not in any danger,” Chanhee added.
Miyoung looked up at them. She could tell that they meant it, but now she was feeling guilty. There’s no reason she couldn't tell them. It’s not like they’d make fun of her.
She took in a deep breath then spoke up, “I don’t want you guys to go.” It came out mumbled.
“What do you mean?” Taeyang asked.
Miyoung shrugged, “Enlistment.”
“Oh, Mimi,” Sanghyuk said, grabbing her and pulling her onto his lap. She curled up, hiding her rapidly flushing face in his chest.
“Wait, Young-ah. Do you miss Youngbin and Inseong?” Jaeyoon asked.
Miyoung nodded her head.
“And now you’re already thinking  about how you’ll miss us too when we go?” Youngkyun asked.
She nodded again.
“I know that this is a serious thing for you, but God damn, this is fucking adorable,” Juho smiled.
Miyoung groaned. “Don’t make fun.”
“We’re not,” Taeyang said from behind her and Sanghyuk. He ran his hand through her hair.
“Noona, we’re not all leaving at once. You’ll never be alone,” the maknae assured.
“I know, but that doesn't mean I won’t miss each of you when you leave,” she pouted.
“Is that why you’ve been distant? You were embarrassed to tell us?” Jaeyoon asked.
“Sort of. But it was mostly because I figured if I spent less time with you guys, I’d grow less attached and it’s hurt less,” she confessed.
“Okay, my turn to hold our cute Mimi,” Seokwoo said as he pulled Miyoung from Sanghyuk’s lap and onto his. Sanghyuk squawked as she was pulled away. Miyoung on the other hand, flushed again as she was being handled like a ragdoll. (It was always like that when it came to cuddling with these boys.)
Once in the tallest member’s lap, she was turned to face the rest of her members, much to her embarrassment. Seokwoo wrapped his arms around her middle and nuzzled her neck. Miyoung squirmed.
“I’m going to tell you right now, Miyoung, that your plan was going to backfire on you so badly,” Juho said.
“I figured,” she mumbled.
“Listen, Noona. All you need to know is that you’ll never be alone, and we won’t be gone forever. Two years will fly by before you know it. Plus half of us aren’t due to enlist for years,” Youngkyun said.
Miyoung nodded. She knew all that. Still, that didn't stop her from not wanting them to go. “I know.”
“Then let’s focus on the now. Yeah the hyungs aren’t here now, but we’ll keep in contact and they’ll visit too,” Taeyang said.
“Youngbin-hyung will definitely come back if he hears that Miyoung was crying over him,” Seokwoo spoke into her neck, chuckling.
“Yah! I’m not crying over him,” Miyoung protested.
“At the moment, but if you’re missing them that bad, I can only imagine how many times you’ve had to stop yourself from crying,” Chanhee smirked.
Miyoung pouted, “Maybe it would be better if you all left.”
“You don’t mean that,” Taeyang said with a knowing look.
“No. No, I don’t,” Miyoung shook her head, frowning. The others chuckled.
“Okay. Okay. That's enough pouting. How about we order takeout and watch a movie then we can prove to Mimi that she’ll never be alone?” Jaeyoon suggested.
“Sounds like a plan to me,” Seokwoo said, standing up. He threw Miyoung over his shoulder and followed the others to the living room.
“Mimi, we love you,” Taeyang smiled, looking at Miyoung who was hiding her blush behind her hands.
“I love you guys too,” she mumbled out. She smiled despite herself.

witch taeyang.
This just popped into my head ok? its a genius idea. basically Tae is from a family of witches, but his magic power is pretty low and he can barely cast any good spell, which lend to him constantly being bullied by Brady who is also a witch. The only good spell that he can use is that he can control rc cars with his magic wand, he uses that spell to solve cases and stuff with a rc car that he named speed. His family moved from a witch filled town to nav city and he promised to hide his powers, and brady also moved into nav city too. eventually, he finds galaxy weapon 1 and uses it for the first time, it gives him a MASSIVE magic upgrade as well being able to summon tobots. now he's not exactly a hero, he's more like a anti-hero.
His galaxy weapon can transform into a broomstick (it has a little basket for the tobots to stay in too :) ) and he flies around with it all the time. when team mayhem showed up, he thought that he was the proper ruler of the city, and now there constantly at odds with each other in a power war that only one side could win. his spells are themed around his tobot's specials, and when he has his uniform on, nobody could really tell it's him, its basically a alter ego. he becomes cocky, very reckless and still quite stubborn but also a bit sadistic, his tobots represent that. Speed, Monster and Rocket are basically likes the heathers, gossiping about others and using there magic staffs to assist there master in total city domination. The tobot rescue squad is the only actual 'good guys', saving citizens of nav city and using there water spells to put out fires, Troll and Big Trail are brothers and have their own broomsticks, the fronts of them having mammoth and bull mochiefs respectively. often the first ones to start chaos with their master, Commander Universe and Tank Man also are usually the first ones to start chaos and the four of em often get into arguments. Captain Police is usually the one who is actually enforcing the rules, trying to make Taeyang reconsider his choice of path, but Taeyang just disregards him and does whatever he wants. Master V isn't unlocked yet, so the others arent there yet.
the first spell idea I had was basically, the planet smasher is now like a powered mallet of sorts, which he uses to smoosh enemies. He can also use a smaller version of it to playfully or bashfully bonk others on le head, the power of the smaller is harshly less than the bigger one so nobody gets hurt. eventually, Rosie finds out about this from K.P who isn't very happy about the new pilot, Rosie isn't happy either but she is also a witch and is plotting revenge, she shows up, she's pissed. and she wants galaxy weapon 1, Taeyang refuses, rolling his eyes and sacrsicaly bowing and calling her princess. a chase scene then ensues with taeyang nyooming through nav city on his broom the fastest he can with Viking nine on his heels.
if this was a actual show, it would resolve around taeyang and team mayhem battling it out for control of the city while he also balances his home life and his friends. His family have no clue he's actually doing this and if they we're to find out he's the one causing chaos just to rule over a city it would be chaos. as well as rosie constantly trying to take the galaxy weapon from him and Taeyang pulling very elaborate pranks to shake her off.

The moonlight streaming in through the open window makes the picture in front of you magical. The light reflects off his hair, giving Taeyang a silver halo and making his clothes seem enchanted. Or maybe it’s just that he put a spell on you. It feels unreal. You can almost feel the air vibrate with the anticipation and excited nervousness between you.
“I never thought something like this would actually happen,” he confesses quietly, breaking the silence with a soft chuckle.
“I know what you mean,” you join him in his quiet laughter, “Why am I so nervous when it’s just you?”
“Just me? The universe literally created me for you, and I’m ‘just me’?” he teases, pretending to be offended, but you see the way his smile grows gentle and his eyes soften.
“Hmm, okay, I’ll admit you’re a little special,” you hum, slowly laying your hand next to his, your matching tattoos glowing faintly at the proximity. You always imagined that your other half would match your sun with a cloud, or maybe a flower, but a moon? If it was anyone but Taeyang, you’d say it was a little unoriginal.
You see him shiver in the night air and feel goosebumps rise on your own skin. Getting up and closing the window is out of the question, though. You weren’t waiting for so long to miss one second of finally lying down next to him. Your eyes fall to the space between you.
“Why are we lying so far away?” he laughs again, noticing it too.
“Because we’re shy,” you remind him, trying not to blush at the notion of being closer. But it’s hard when you can already imagine how warm Taeyang would be from the many times you’ve hugged.
“It’s not a big deal,” he murmurs, sounding more like he’s telling that to himself than you.
“Then come closer,” you whisper back, giving him a reassuring smile when his eyes meet yours. He shuffles closer, only a few inches, still more space between you than you’d like. You frown when you see the hesitation etched into his features.
“Can I touch you?” he asks and lifts his hand, hovering just above your waist. You lick your lips and nod, reaching out yourself to wrap your arms around him as he pulls you closer and finally your bodies are pressed against each other.
You sigh happily, biting your lip to stop yourself from smiling so much. Your cheeks hurt. You breathe in his soothing scent and take in how firm, yet comfortable his body is. You see your tattoo glowing faintly.
“I didn’t say anything about you touching me,” he teases again, but you can hear the smile in his voice. It's more than obvious that he feels the same euphoria as you.
“I can let go and move back,” you joke without any hint of doing so.
“Don’t. I think I never want to let you go again, so you can’t either,” he murmurs. You feel him gently kiss your forehead. You melt further into him.
“I guess I can’t. Not when I just found you,” you whisper, pressing a soft kiss to his collarbone. He doesn’t let go as you slowly fall asleep, and neither do you.

(Taeho) us, everything
love, love, love so sweet:
“i- okay but don't laugh at me.” taeyang turned towards keeho and waited for the boy to nod before continuing. “i was supposed to go on a date with this guy i met-”
there was the lightbulb moment, keeho realising what day it was and why taeyang was so apprehensive, sure that he would just laugh at him. it was february 14th aka valentine’s day. keeho wasn't really subtle with his hatred towards this particular holiday.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/37114684
+
crossing the invisible line:
"why don't you just tell him?" keeho was sure he would have jumped up to the ceiling if it wasn’t for taeyang's body weighing him down. he looked up, blinking a few times to let his eyes focus on jiung's face.
"jiung!" he hissed, glaring at the boy.
"i just… i just don't understand what you are so scared about."
https://archiveofourown.org/works/37584325
+
time to be mine:
“i know you probably don't want to hear it but he’s not going to wait for you forever.” the teasing was gone from choyeon’s tone, the girl looking at him with a small smile.
looking at keeho, the boy laughing with his head thrown back, a wide smile adorning his face, eyes shining under the lights, taeyang knew his sister was right.
“i… “ he took a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment. “hold this.” he pushed his cup into chaeeun’s free hand and headed towards keeho, ignoring the loud shouts coming from the girls.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/38284975
+
between those many clouds:
“yangie?” keeho whispered, his voice sounded hoarse and taeyang was sure that just trying to say the one word had to hurt so much. he didn't lift his head, face still buried in the fabric of taeyang’s shirt.
“hmm?” taeyang took keeho’s face into his hand, gently rubbing his thumb against keeho’s wet cheeks.
“i’m so sorry. i-” he was interrupted by an aggressive cough that made him whimper, curling even closer. “i’m so sorry.” he chanted over and over again, tugging at taeyang shirt as if he was trying to hide in the fabric.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/39833958
+
melt away by sweet words:
“have any of you seen my grey hoodie?” keeho said, addressing the two boys that were in the room with him, looking from jiung to shota.
after a moment of silence, it was jiung who took pity on him and answered him. “wasn't yangie wearing it last week?”
“huh?” keeho said, eloquent as always.
“you mean the grey one with letters in the front, right?” when keeho nodded in agreement, jiung just hummed and looked back down at his notes. “i’m pretty sure taeyang was wearing that hoodie during our dinner last week.”
https://archiveofourown.org/works/40541952
+
you’re all mine:
“oh, he’s cute.” minjoo suddenly whispered, leaning towards taeyang, looking over his shoulder where the counter was. raising his brow at the girl, taeyang slowly turned around to get a better look.
“you mean keeho?” he managed to say, trying to make his lungs work properly.
“you know him?” minjoo asked, a sudden gleam in her eyes, her interest spiking up as she pushed herself up on her elbows.
“uh-huh…i mean, yes?”

Jongseob: Theo hyung says that about everything.

Theo: Everyone should use chopsticks. Forks are dumb.
Theo: People should swim forward. The backstroke is dumb.
Theo: 50 thousand won for a 'Shakespearean Insults' mug? Money is dumb.
