Creighton Sun
I've come to really like Aida Forte and Creighton Sun. They make a terrific duo.
Creighton in particular has grown on me the most. In Convergence he appeared plainly virtuous - almost cliché - and characterless. At least this was my impression. There was a traditionalism about him, but rarely was it insightful. It felt textbook and monotone. There is nothing wrong with this; it's just that as Convergence was told, he seemed unremarkable compared with the Gella Nattai. In Battle of Jedha, however, I felt that he started to open up and come into his own. In the final moments of the battle, we got a bit more of a raw (and less guarded) glimpse into his personality; his speech was absolutely epic.
In Cataclysm, we see Creighton as old and wise and reasonably grumpy; indeed, we begin to see a Master Jedi with great skill and experience, who, while dryly unsociable and deeply serious in his code of conduct, is also refreshingly sceptical and realist in his views of the galaxy. He's a proper leader. He'll fight wholeheartedly for peace, but he's also cynical enough to understand that peace and justice are not innate features of a system with many vested interests and power struggles. At the same time, he is astute and critically minded enough to be aware of his own cynicism, should it prejudice his view on a matter.
Going into Cataclysm, I was super interested to follow Creighton and Aida on their mission to Dalna. I'm now at the suspenseful point, and, to be honest, I dread what might happen. I really hope they don't get calcified.

Star Wars: Convergence
chapter one
Tumblr media
Arianna Jinn stood at the huge window in the Jedi temple, watching the busy Coruscanti activity outside. The rush of speeders and skylanes rushed past or meandered on slowly. Lines upon lines of people minding their own and going about their lives. She may have had a life like that... if only she hadn't been born with powerful Force abilities.
The golden glow of the sun somewhere very high above made her chocolate brown locks glow orange in the light, her lashes made long shadows over her river eyes, blue with the shades of green and grey... like her father.
She remembered a year ago... when she'd been brought to the temple. Obi-wan Kenobi had came to find her some time after her mother's death, doing good on a promise he'd made his deceased master many years ago.
And she could recount that day, standing before the wise and powerful Jedi masters in the council... when her fate had changed forever:
                                   ✴︎✴︎✴︎
A year ago...
Obi-wan had brought her before the council within the first day she'd come to the temple. He said she was Force sensitive and needed to be trained in order to control her powers... and that the Jedi needed every fighter they could get now.
She'd only been sixteen years old.
Her father didn't want that, she knew. Qui-gon had wanted her to be raised by him and him alone, not to be trained in the new Jedi ways, not when he believed in the traditional values of the Old Republic.
Now, Jedi had become like monks, they weren't allowed to form attachment, they weren't allowed to love... but in her eyes, and her fathers, she saw it as if you never loved anything, how could you ever have enough passion to end a war? When you had nothing to really fight for? But she did. Whether or not the Jedi agreed, she had her love to a few, and that was her purpose to fight.
She'd walked into the middle of a circle of Jedi, some ancient and some not. Half alien species and the other human.
She looked around once, her eyes falling and staying on a small green alien sitting in the middle of them all.
The ancient-looking alien's large green eyes looked kindly at her, but seemed to be looking not at her, but in her, and it made her slightly uneasy, but she kept a straight face.
"Masters, this is Arianna Jinn, she was... Master Qui-Gons daughter..."
"I was not aware that Master Jinn had any offspring." An older black man said. His face was hard, seeming to pierce through her, as if she'd done something wrong and he was perfectly aware.
"Well, he never was one to follow the Councils rules entirely, now was he?" An old Cerean, seated to the right of the ancient one said.
"Master Yoda, I do not think speaking on such things is appropriate for the matter," Obi-Wan said, his hands were clasped in his robes before him. Clearly he did not wish to come here only to speak ill of his old master.
"Right, you are, Master Kenobi." The green alien—Master Yoda—said. "Welcome, young Jinn."
"Thank you, master." She bowed her head a bit, as Obi-Wan had done when they arrived.
"Of what age, is she?" Yoda looked to Kenobi to ask.
"She is now sixteen."
"Wish to train her you do, hm?"
"Yes, Master. I think it's only right, considering her genes."
"Her genes shouldn't have anything to do with it," Mace said. "But being Force sensitive, that would be the reason to train her, should the Council decide."
"And what do you wish, young Jinn?" Yoda asked, his gaze was kind, patient. Not like the hard gaze Windu gave.
Arianna swallowed, softly, but she knew her mannerisms didn't matter here, they could all see straight through her. "I wish to learn the ways of the Force. If I have it, it's only right that I train under a Jedi, and in this dark time the galaxy will need as many as it can get."
"Right, you are, but a soldier right away you will not be. Train as a padawan you may, but to the battlefield, right away you will not he sent. Time and training, and decided it will be."
"It is an admirable thought though, young one."
Arianna looked over at the Kel-dor that sat beside Windu, his black mask and eye protectors stopped her from seeing his expression, but she could hear the kindness in his deep voice.
"I agree with master Plo," another Jedi, a green Nautolan said, one of his legs were crossed over the other as he grinned at Arianna. "We could use more padawans with a noble mindset such as hers."
She smiled her thanks at the two Jedi, sensing the difference in the way they looked at her. They were Jedi more like her, she could tell. Not like the hard and cold exterior Windu had, however powerful he may be.
"I believe her to be a bit stronger a youngling than many I have come across, master." Kenobi said. "That being said I recommend a master and not a Jedi knight."
"Training young Skywalker you have just stopped," Yoda said. "Perhaps under your wing you could take her, hm?"
"I already have a new padawan set to come once the basic trials are ended, I cannot take Arianna at this moment."
"I will take the youngling as my Padawan."
Arianna turned, it was Plo Koon, the Kel-dor that spoke up suddenly.
"You wish to train the girl?" Windu inclined his head towards him.
"I do." he said and nodded.
"I find it a good match." Fisto said.
"Become Master Plo's apprentice, young Jinn shall," Yoda said. "But to go to the battlefield yet, she will not. But apart of the Jedi, you now are." He nodded at her and she bowed her head.
"Thank you, masters." She looked to her new master and couldn't help but smile softly, even through his mask and eye protectors, she could tell he was smiling back.
She glanced once around all the Jedi in the room, feeling like they were seeing straight through her and knew they could feel her every emotion.
But she felt she had to do this. She had to become a Jedi. It was who she was meant to be, wasn't it?
✴︎✴︎✴︎✴︎
Present day
"Something troubling you?"
Arianna didn't turn, she'd felt her master walking up behind her, now his clawed hand sat on her shoulder as he stood beside her, looking out into the city beyond.
"I have many things on my mind as of late, Master."
"I know. Even so I have come to an important decision to make, but I believe you to be ready."
She turned so that she would have been making eye contact with him were it not for the black that blocked them. "Master..?" She asked curiously.
"You have excelled in all your training, so much in fact that I don't believe there is much left here in the Temple for you. And so, I have decided now would be the time to bring you to the battlefield."
Her river eyes widened. "You mean... I'm going to join Wolf Pack?"
"Yes. I believe you are more than prepared to fight, to lead. You have done far better than I ever could have thought and I am proud of you. You are already a better Jedi than many can ever hope to be."
"Thank you, Master." She tried hard to keep her excitement down. She loved Commander Wolffe and all of Wolf Pack, she trained with them and respected them like brothers and they had the same feelings towards her. But to finally get to fight beside her master with them as well...
"I can't tell you how wonderful this is, Master." She shook her head in disbelief.
"You have earned it, little one."
She nodded low, her utmost respect going to him.
GAR BASE ONE DAY LATER
Troopers marched almost everywhere, just as they always did. Battalions and small pods and Sergeants who led them.
Arianna walked beside her Master towards his waiting squad of the 104th battalion.
She saw Wolffe notice them coming first, and the clone walked forward, standing to attention and all of his men followed suit.
"General, sir." Wolffe said. "Everyone is ready to deploy."
"Good work, Commander," Plo answered. "But we will be having one other join us today."
Arianna tried to keep her expression neutral, but she saw Wolffe looking proudly at her shoulder pad, her katarn armor was painted with the Wolf  hallmark in dark blue.
"Arianna will be joining us from now on." The Jedi said.
"Welcome to the 104th, Captain Jinn." Comet came up and saluted.
"Thank you, Comet."
"We should get moving." Corvis came behind them to note.
Plo nodded and headed towards the ship. His white armor was on, the matching Wolf symbols on his hands and the Republic's insignia on his shoulders. Arianna walked closely behind him, trying to mirror his steady, calm movements.
"Ready for you first mission, Captain?" Boost asked with a smirk.
"I've been ready for a long time." She answered, checking the hilts of her two lightsabers and heading up the ramp behind the other men.
✴︎✴︎✴︎✴︎
Over the course of the flight through hyperspace Arianna sat in the cockpit with the clones and absorbed everything. The way they spoke to each other, the soldier talk, the mannerisms of each one that made the men each stand out so much from one another, everything.
"What does Vod mean?" Arianna asked after hearing Comet say it for like the fourth time of any of them.
That drew the attention of each of them to turn and face her.
"It means brother." Corvis said. "Or sister, whichever you identify as."
She thought on it, letting it sink in so that she would remember. She wanted to be like these soldiers, so she would try and remember all she could. "Teach me more." She sat up straight.
"You want to learn Mando'a?" Wolffe asked.
"Please. Teach me what you know, I want to be able to speak it as well."
"Well, I don't see why not." Corvis said, then leant forward a little. "Profanities first then, eh?" he joked.
Arianna chuckled but shrugged. This would be a trip she'd never forget.

Does anyone know if there are any Star Wars books that take place on Jedha? I know there’s The Battle of Jedha by George Mann, but first I have to finish Convergence by Zoraida Córdova. Then there’s also the novelization of Rogue One, but I’m not sure about any others.
