Dean, hands gripping Sam’s waist, smiling up at his baby brother who’s gotten so much taller since leaving, finally hitting proper height, thumbs pressed into the divots of his hips, rubbing little circles into flesh. Sam, staring down at Dean with flushed cheeks and gentle eyes, taking in Dean’s freckles and the cut on his lip, how much he’s changed, pressing their chests together to feel his steady heartbeat while his own hands settle just above his ass, barely keeping decent.
And Jess, watching from the doorway in something between horror and shock as Sam opens his mouth and professes — “babe, this is my brother, Dean.”

Sam likely hid any and all mention of the supernatural library he had at his disposal but i cant help but think if he watched supernatural horror movies and just casually says weird stuff like "you cant kill a werewolf like that," or "ghost dont work like that", and "that wendigo design is garbage thats not what they look like at all." And everyone just assumes sams really into supernatural/horror movies and is really insecure about it. Bur Sam is completely unaware of this.

Sam hunting at Stanford. Wiping blood and gasoline on a stained hoodie. Monday mornings spent trying to explain away his black eye. Doing homework on the bus ride back from the hunt. Sitting in lecture with fresh, self-done stitches barely hidden by his worn out shirt. Knives under his mattress and a crucifix in his pocket. Dirt under his nails and ash in his hair. Catching a glimpse of a black car while leaving the cemetery. Unsure if his heart is pounding from fear or excitement. The indescribable feeling of being good at something you hate. Wanting so badly to be normal but being unable to ignore the truth. Knowing that no matter how far you run your past will always be part of you.

so I'm rewatching the Pilot and Dean goes "in almost 2 years, I've never bothered you, never asked you for a thing." considering that Sam is in his senior year of college, that means Dean did have interactions with Sam while Sam was at Stanford.
now maybe it's just a writer oversight, but I think it's something different. at some point during Sam's sophomore year, Dean reached out and Sam cut him off entirely.
which makes Dean's "I must have stood outside your dorm for hours... because I didn't... I didn't know what... What you would say. I thought you'd tell me to... to get lost or get dead" ...really sad. because there was precedent for it.

It's thinking about samjess hours
Sam never had a home. His whole childhood he was suffocated by his family with no personal space or privacy. He'd spend almost every day with them: On hour long drives in the impala, in a small grubby one room motel, on hunts. He never had his own space, somewhere that was wholly his, no taking turns with Dean or enduring the judgemental presence of John as Sam did anything besides train to kill all things evil.
And yet when we see Sam independent from his family in his own space at Stanford... he's not alone
The fact that when Sam finally had his own space and independence he chose to invite someone else into it.... it just makes me wanna eat glass
How he loved Jess so much he wanted to share his freedom with her. He was practically disowned by his family over it. And when he finally had it, he gave part of it up for her.
The meaning behind Sam sharing his space with Jess is just so important to me

Sweet like Sugar (Smut, One Shot)
Summary:
"Sam is sweet, sweet like sugar but there was this other side to him that was hot and feisty. In moments like this Sam is like a whole new person."

Jupernatural Week Day 6: Judaica (Physical Reminders, Inheritance, Stories)
@jupernaturalweek
The Men of Letters Bunker has a mezuzah, it is small, and blue. It has been on the doorframe for the last half a century. It once helped make the Bunker a home for the not-quite-soldiers that had their barracks there.
Baby has a mezuzah, it is small, and patterned green and white. Dean stuck it to his side of the dash when John finally let him have the car for himself. The impala is the closest thing to a home the not-yet-soldiers who grew up inside it had.
Sam nailed a mezuzah to the doorframe of his and Jess' apartment during his time away from the family. It is small, and made of unpatterned wood, as unobtrusive as possible. One day, when he's in class, his landlord paints over it. Sam was just starting to feel like he could call his place with Jessica home.
It is after an apocalypse, another near apocalypse, and before a second one before the Winchester brothers receive their grandfather's key.
The bunker is a treasure trove for hunters, but all Dean can think is that he hasn't had a bedroom of his own since he was four years old.
And when they enter from the garage, nailed proudly to the doorframe is a small, blue mezuzah.
