I had a conversation with my 9 y/o baby son this morning about this spoon.

In my home we have an ongoing utensil problem that has led me to have to buy replacements every 6 months.

I’m done trying to figure out where they go as it feels like spiritual warfare tbh, but decided at 6am this one was making its way back to me. Don’t know why, I guess I wasn’t willing to lose one more.

As my fourth grader sat and ate his Cheerios in the pre-dawn darkness I, inches from his face but with a lot of love in my heart did what I had to do.

“Baby do you see this spoon? Look at it, please. I’m putting this spoon in your lunch. It has to come home. Hey, I’m not done. This spoon is mine. I need it to return with you. I want this spoon, not a plastic replacement, not someone’s else’s spoon, not a fork, not a candy wrapper, I want to open your lunchbox tonight and see this same spoon here, ok? Memorize its features if you need to. This spoon is family. This spoon is my friend. This spoon is your brother now. His name is Spoonie and I love him same as I love you. Maybe not the same but close. This spoon is special. It’s a family heirloom and your inheritance I don’t care what you have to do, bring it back. Ok? I need to hear it, ok?”

I know I might sound unhinged but have you ever lost 15 spoons in one summer? I wasn’t born like this, the children did it to me. Motherhood is my villain origin story and I’m trying to be nice but spoons keep disappearing.

At some point I’m going to start deducting lost spoon money out of allowances. They don’t get allowances but I would start giving them one just to deduct for lost utensils. Maybe the next time I’m asked for Robux I’ll say I spent it on spoons.

That would change things for sure.

Rhysand really thinks his trauma trumps everyone elses trauma

Ofc i feel bad cause rhysand was obviously abused UtM but that doesn’t excuse the fact he 1- does shit things to other people 2- can act like since he was traumatized he is morally superior.

Tom's line about Shiv being selfish and "find[ing] it very hard to think about me" is actually so telling because while it's absolutely true that she rarely takes his position into consideration, Tom never once thinks about what he can do to help Shiv unless it also benefits him.

Every single time he makes a move or sacrifice that might help her, it's always something that he thinks will give him a leg up. He volunteers to take the fall for cruises, not for Shiv, who is in no way implicated, or even for Waystar, but because he thinks it'll ingratiate him to Logan, and the second it seems like he might have to actually follow through on that, he immediately tries to get out of it and even throws Shiv under the bus. Meanwhile, for all that Shiv disregards his interests, there are a number of things she does that only help him, and she's the one who actually sacrifices something and undermines her position with Logan to beg him not to let Tom go to jail.

It just makes it so clear that no matter how much he might love her (and I think he does, in his own compromised way), for him their relationship was always built on the underlying assumption that it's her job to prop him up, but it's not his job to help her.

#i rewatched that ep a few days ago and this was just cooking in my brain for a bit #their relationship is so messy and interesting i want to watch them get a divorce on a loop forever #and like. the wildest thing is that Tom does occasionally do things that don't serve him to help someone else. but its always greg #which you might say is ultimately down to the power dynamics (shiv can do more for tom than he can for her and tom can do more for greg) #but there are still plenty of points where tom actually does have the power to help shiv and chooses not to #and I love how succession never really has a clear 'what this character is telling you is 100% the truth of the story' moments #anytime a character is making a statement like 'this is who you are/who i am' or 'this is what i really want/what you really want' there's #always some kernel of truth to it but the narrative they're spinning is almost never fully honest #you can't take any of it at face value and it's such a good way of showing how they're always on some level 'playing the game' #and like. at a time when so many stories are basically spoon-feeding their audiences it's so nice to have a story that trusts you to #sort through it all and see what's real and what's not and rewards you for putting that work in #succession #4x07 tailgate #succession season 4 #failmarriage #shiv roy #tomshiv #tom wambsgans #siobhan roy

Forever thinking about the art piece in Don Hertzfeldt's short film World of Tomorrow where a clone of a child is put into a tube in a gallery and you watch him age in real time until he eventually dies at the age of 72 then the exhibit is quietly removed without any notice.

(I have offhandedly mentioned it a few times, but yes, Pep can remove his head like in game (anything that happens in game, assume he can do). The fact that he is 'melty' does not affect his ability to do so - unless he is upset and unable to hold his form, making parts of his body fuse into each other

In fact, all clones (Fake Peppinos and Peppiclones alike), can remove their heads, and it's kind of a bonding experience to swap heads for a while hehe
