hi can i just say that while I haven't been there to read your HK fanfiction, seeing you update nailmaster's folly after so long makes me... hopeful? In the 'I also have wips I haven't touched in years but there might still be space for them one day if I get the gumption' sort of way? so, while I'm not really going to be reading it as I know nothing about HK: thanks for updating nailmaster's folly, so cool to see it.

Honestly, one of the most important things about art that I wish everyone would, at some point, absorb into their creative process, is that everything is allowed to rest. Sometimes the only thing that will "fix" a problem piece is time and distance, and that time and distance is allowed to be long. You're allowed to drop something for 4 years and randomly decide it's worth your time again, and you should be able to have that process without guilt or judgement.

Not to get on the "internet culture is evil" soapbox, but, the idea of the "grind", that every project must be done at once, from start to finish, in a logical order that others can consume and follow from point A to point Z, is untenable for individual creators, especially creators that are doing it just for fun. You aren't a machine. You aren't a writing board churning out a podcast, movie, tv series, comic book set, etc. You're a person finding joy in making art about something you love. The process can be messy. It can make no sense. It can involve long breaks, or deciding you're done with something entirely. Without guilt or malice, you are allowed to wash your hands of something and then decide to get them dirty with it again when you can stand the texture.

I understand there's sadness in thinking you can't finish something, in not knowing how to fix it immediately, or not being able to conjure the motivation to put to physicality something that makes so much sense in your head. Be disappointed, and grieve it, if you must. But never think it was time wasted. No one has ever walked out of their house in the morning without, at some point or another, looking at the world to see what was there. You're allowed to start a project, walk down the road with it, and realize you'd rather look around.

I still cant believe I actually managed to get Top Surgery tbh it still feels very surreal!

Tbh it almost sounds easier to get Top Surgery in America than the UK these days, I hear about people getting it thru insurance most of the time (although i'm not claiming to know how that works)

We don't really have that here, you either pay out of pocket or get it thru the NHS, but NHS Gender Clinics almost feel like a myth rn, it's almost impossible even to get on the waiting lists/an initial appointment, let alone surgery...

I have to admit I had a mini flash of anger when I was watching a stream of an American artist I like talking about how it costs them $10 to get their Testosterone in the state they live in.......Here unless you're with an NHS gender clinic, or can get Shared Care (which I failed to do) then you have to go with a private Gender Clinic and pay a monthly fee....my monthly fee is £49 PLUS THE COST OF THE PRESCRIPTION which is £42 a bottle (which lasts a month) so £91 a month for hormones.......... : (

I just can't believe how shit the UK is with trans care (well, i can believe it, but its scary....)

A “few” … I don’t think people really understand how insane and stressful running a Tumblr account is. I have over 1.5k followers, many who come to me for guidance and support, people who come for answers and help. The flip side is people who hate and demand, people who come only to hurt me. As much as I love this account, answering asks is very difficult, if an ask can be seen on my notification page I WILL and DO answer it, but when I miss it, it may take me time to get to it because of my difficulties with opening my ask box, I’m terrified over what I may find in there, will they be nice? Will they be people needing help? Or will it be death threats and violence, emotional manipulation or just mean people? I am currently just stressed beyond recognition over this account, and I just need some patience, time and grace. I know there are some very nice messages I’m missing, and I’m so sorry! One day I will get to them, I’m getting there <3

Have you noticed the way women are being openly demeaned, treated like we're inherently lesser, and that it's pointless to have a group of women with no men? I've seen major professional sports leagues referred to as nothing more than "ghettos" that keep women out of the real sports leagues with all-male teams. The message is that womens organizations are inherently worthless, mens organizations are inherently worthy. The message is that one or two of us on a team would be an achievement, but all 12 being women is a disgrace. You can see the same message applied to any female organization, the insistance that we are nothing without men, that men deserve to write the rules, that it's embarrasing or immoral to associate with a group of other women, that we ought to have someone with a penis watching our every move to make sure we don't get uppity, and that if we have a problem with that it means we were evil feminazis all along

in regards to the constant dismissal of his aroace identity, i hate it when alastor 'fans' say and use the excuse: "he's fictional, he won't get offended."

like, you're right, but it can and will offend us.

when you see yourself being represented on screen, of course you'd feel enthusiastic about it — representation allows individuals to see themselves reflected in the media they consume, validating their identities and experiences. but when so many people take that representation and decide to disregard and discard it, it is so fucking frustrating. we finally have another character to be part of the tiny amount of representation we have, but then people don't even care about how much it means to us? like yeah, alastor won't get offended because he's not real, but it frustrates and annoys us. do you realize that it's also technically invalidating the aroace community? that you're invalidating our feelings? imagine feeling like you're finally being seen because your orientation is finally being represented in media, and people just decide to blatantly ignore, discard, and invalidate it.

media has such a powerful influence on real life, representation being a prevalent factor of it. there are numerous posts that dictate how people went to watch a movie/show or read a book just because a character depicts their identity in it — obviously, being represented is an incredibly uplifting and validating experience.

which is why seeing an aroace character in a popular show is so meaningful to us because we live in a world where romance and sex are literally everywhere and prioritized above all else. (and it's pretty obvious that alastor's on the repulsed end of the spectrum, but even if he wasn't, at least make an effort to acknowledge his sexuality instead of continuing to portray him as allo; aroace folks can be in relationships but it's not going to be the same thing with allos' experiences.)

any and every representation matters, but why does that seem to stop at people under the aroace spectrum? like y'all can't even let us appreciate the scraps of representation we have. we barely have any, so are we really that dramatic for being upset at how people easily disregard and dismiss our identities that are being depicted on screen just like that? is it truly wrong of us to want to defend and maintain the little representation we have?

I think the most frustrating thing about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is that if the Pokémon Company actually allowed the devs plenty of time to refine graphics, test the game and patch glitches before release it could easily be one of the best Pokémon games out there. So far from what I’ve played, the story and writing is miles better than Sword and Shield, and the characters are so much more interesting and each given equal time in the spotlight. They already released Legends Arceus earlier this year and even though the graphics weren’t perfect the glitches were minimal and overall the game was fantastic, one of my all time favourites in fact. That game had more time to be perfected since BDSP was released in time for Black Friday/Christmas instead. If TPC actually gave a shit about their devs and the appearance of their games rather than the millions of dollars they rake in with every launch day then they would take one look at their game, think “wtf no that’s not done” and then delay it. Would fans cry? Yes, because Pokémon fans will never be happy. Would the game look better if it was delayed a couple of months? Probably. Breath of the Wild was delayed two years and went on to win game of the year, and it’s sequel is following suit because the company actually cares about their games. I’m not saying a Pokémon game will ever win game of the year but if even just a little bit of care was applied from the heads of TPC then maybe we’d finally get a mainline Pokémon game with nice graphics and a brilliant storyline.
