This was a reply to someone else, but I'm making this its own post because so many people are being so evil right now re: Noah Schnapp.
You can find other, longer explanations with history and all, but all the places I've seen more or less agree with this:
Tumblr media
So you're all calling people to cancel Noah because he's in favor of a Jewish nation in what is today Israel. Which is a perfectly reasonable, decent and educated opinion to have, especially when you, to use a trendy term, "educate yourself" and find out why the state of Israel was created.
11000 dead Palestinians, half of them children
According to Hamas. Don't forget that, ever. They're the current, official government of Gaza, thus they're the ones who give numbers. This means that the real number could be 10, 1 million, anything in between. What I've read is that they probably give more of less accurate total numbers. What they fail to do, however, is distinguish between Hamas militants and civilians, and beteween civilians killed by IDF strikes, civilians killed by failed Hamas or Palestininan Islamic Jihad's rockets (which happens a lot), and Palestinians murdered by Hamas/PIJ (which also happens, a whole damn lot). They also don't specify how many civilians they have prevented or tried to prevent from evacuating or receiving aid.
11k dead people is a horrible number. Even 1 dead person is a horrible number. However, urban warfare in such a densely populated area is its own kind of hell, especially when the other side is fond of using civilians as human shields in every way possible. The fact that the number is 11k and not 50k, 100k, and so on, indicates that the IDF have indeed done a lot to minimize deaths. You don't genocide people by doing roof knocks, opening evacuation lines, dropping guided bombs, putting up an Iron Dome to deal with rockets while avoiding escalation, etc. simply because actual genocide, while a lot worse, is also cheaper, easier and faster than what they're doing. This is important because caling every act of war genocide dilutes the word, and there are actual genocides happening around the world. Also, there is a difference between striking military targets and causing civilian deaths as a side effect (what the IDF is doing) and planning and carrying out a massacre deliberately targeting civilians and inflicting as much pain and humilliation as possible on them. And there is a difference between doing so by breaking a ceasefire (which is what Hamas did), and defending your country because if you don't do that a terrorist group will anhilate you (which is what the IDF is doing).
Back to Noah. So far, these are the things that people have tried to cancel him for:
Traveling to Israel (a completely normal thing)
Having Israeli friends (another completely normal thing)
Condemning Hamas' horrible attack on October 7th (the decent thing to do)
Posting a statement saying he feels unsafe as a Jewish person in the US (which, given the rise of antisemitic acts in the world, including the US, including where he lives and where he studies, is a valid feeling to have)
Signing a letter, along with Shawn Levy, Brett Gelman, Ross Duffer and I think Cara Buono, asking Biden to press for the liberation of every hostage by Hamas. This especially shows the utter ignorance of the cancellers because, as it turns out, caring about every hostage implies a slowdown of IDF's actions (and, at the time, a delay of a ground invasion).
Supporting the existence and preservation of the state of Israel (once again, a completely normal thing). The fact that people are turning against him for these things says to me that the real reason you are all hating Noah is beacuse:
He's Jewish. Like, really really Jewish.
And the fact that this all comes from a place of antisemitism isn't hidden at all: I've seen y'all on here, on Twitter, Reddit, every other social media calling him slurs (such as "cunt"), censoring his name, pretending he's not part of the cast, asking the Duffers/Netflix to fire him, wishing him failure, doxxing him, calling on his classmates to physically assault him, etc. He doesn't need to educate himself: you guys are already teaching him a great lesson on why a Jewish state is necessary. If that's the treament he gets from his own "fans", what can he expect from the world at large?

Because of what's happening on Twitter...
I've made a little diagram to demonstrate why billionaires and the ultra-wealthy are bad for society.
Tumblr media
(Text in Image)
"If we view society as a body, every sector is like a different organ within the body that serves a function and works in harmony with other organs to maintain balance. Every part of the body is important for the whole thing to function."
"The ultra-wealthy want you to believe they are the beating heart and thinking mind of the society – they are the innovators who create our jobs and their brilliance drives society forward. They deserve to be at the top of society because they have earned that. Without them, the body won’t function because they are the most important part."
"In reality, they are more like a malignant tumour, sucking all of the blood (resources) away from everything else (people and the planet) to fuel its own infinite growth, depriving the rest of the body and slowly killing it. Workers create all of the innovation and keep things running, the ultra-wealthy take all the credit."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a public domain image so feel free to pinch it for whatever.
Elon Musk has put the careers of thousands of small business owners who depend on Twitter (myself included) in jeopardy by completely running it into the ground. Before this, Mark Zuckerberg had already been doing the same when he started pursuing Metaverse, making Instagram and Facebook much more unusable for artists. Do I really need to go into other examples of CEOs and very normalised practise of wage theft?
Meanwhile, the UK currently has the richest Prime Minister in its history. What is this man doing with this wealth? Continuing the Tory legacy of austerity in order to line his pockets and the pockets of his crony friends. This has resulted in a devastating cost of living crisis that continues to ravage the country as people's energy bills skyrocket out of control.
My diagram is pretty basic and lacks nuance, there's definitely more I could elaborate on with this comparison but I really don't have time. I just want people to get the basic point of how billionaires view themselves vs what function they actually serve. I'm also not here to debate whether some organs are more important than others since I'm not a doctor, that's not really the point here. And no, I don't care if people think I'm being harsh by comparing billionaires to a tumour. If they don't want to be compared to one they should stop acting like one. Jeff Bezos could end world hunger right now and chooses not to.
Also, I know a lot of people are going to come at me with the argument that billionaires give away massive amounts of money. First off, people like Jeff Bezos only give large sums of money to charity a.) for the sake of improving their public image and b.) because giving to charity allows them to write it off in their taxes. Also, charities in of themselves have a lot of problems, but that's a blog post for another day. Mutual Aid is a better way to help people directly. Really, the ultra wealthy need to be taxed, of course they do everything within their power to avoid taxes.
Also:
Tumblr media
"Earning a lot of money" and "holding onto a lot of money" are two different things. You cannot be a multi-millionaire unless you hold onto that money. If you give away massive chunks of it to enrich society, you cease to be a billionaire.
Oh and this is worth a watch, too.
Furthermore:
Tumblr media
Also before the inevitable great man comments:
Tumblr media
Being a billionaire is a moral failing. Nobody needs that much money.
[Slight edit here - I made the assertion that a billionaire could not spend all of their money in their lifetime, but as someone in the comments pointed out it's very easy for them to completely waste billions in no time. Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have shown that].
Anyway, if you would like to see more anti-Capitalist art from me, I am currently working on a webcomic called "Flowerpunk" - a story about a group of anarchists who are trying to save the city of Wyrdon from a supernatural plague known as "the rot." The comic heavily discusses disaster Capitalism and how the rich will use mass death and destruction as an opportunity to further line their pockets.
I also like to do little anti-Capitalist doodles relating to this project, which I plan to make into posters at some point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please consider donating a Ko-Fi also if you would like to help support this project. I am really struggling at the moment because I've basically lost a massive chunk of my client base due to this Twitter implosion and also because of the AI BS that has made it impossible for me to get any reach nowadays. The last year or so has been an absolute nightmare for my career because of all of this.
Thank you all for your continued support! Hopefully I can re-establish my audience here on Tumblr and wherever else I decide to go.

A few tips for new Tumblr users wanting to write here
Yo if you're here from Reddit or Twitter or some other site and just wanted to give this a shot you may have seen some blogs that are dedicated to writing headcanons or short fics or even original works for their own OCs and you may be thinking "hey I wanna give that a shot! I like to write!" then I have some tips to make it easier on you and people who see your content.
1. First off, if you're writing a pretty long piece the you should probably put it under a read more, it'll look like this on mobile
Tumblr media
and this on desktop
Tumblr media
or you can write :readmore: on a line by itself and press enter.
2. Now if you're gonna write for a whole bunch of different fandoms and you wanna make a master list then I suggest making an actual list with the fandoms you write for and then making more lists with the actual content as a you go along because you can only have 100 links in one post (I know that sounds like a lot but as someone who has around 300 Transformers things written trust me you fill up a post quicker than you expect, especially if you take requests from other people). The way I typically do it is like this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first pic is the MASTER master list that lists everything I write for and when they're underlined like that it means they're links. The second pic is after clicking the G1 link, it's a separate post that has the actual fics and headcanon links. Note the 6/100 in the tags, this is how I keep up with how many things I've added. You can of course just use the numbers options from here
Tumblr media
or just number them manually from your keyboard like I'm doing with this post. Adding links has no barring on what else you add to the post so you can add yourself some fancy header or divider pics if you want.
3. Adding links! Links can look like this https://www.tumblr.com/wingwaver/721887224846778368/test-post-for-reasons?source=share or like this https://wingwaver.tumblr.com/post/721887224846778368/test-post-for-reasons depending on whether you're linking from mobile or desktop/browser Just highlight the text you wanna add a link to and a the little chain will move to the end, click it and paste your url you want to link to and press add link, then press post/save draft/save (whatever the blue button says)
Tumblr media
Now you've successfully linked a post to another post!
4. Tagging! To get your fics and headcanons seen to build an audience you usually wanna tag the stuff correctly. If you're posting a fic about Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney then you'll tag it with #Ace Attorney, #Miles Edgeworth, and #Phoenix Wright in the tags area. But it's also a good idea to mention if it's a ship or general fic in the tags too. If so then putting ship names and #Miles Edgeworth x Phoenix Wright and #Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright in the tags will help everyone know this is a ship fic. Tagging with characters or fandoms that aren't apart of the fic just clogs the tags for people looking for content of said characters and fandoms so it's very looked down on here and will likely get some of your stuff reported for spam so only use the relevant tags. Also tagging for triggers can be tricky here because of how fucky tumblr is but please don't tag censor tags. Tagging things like #a**** or #a*use or even #abu$e doesn't work here because people who have #abuse blacklisted will be able to see this content because it wasn't tagged properly. Also if you're writing for OCs or reader inserts it's common courtesy to tag those appropriately too. Someone looking for a reader insert may not want to read an OC and vice versa. Also many people filter those out so try to add tags like #x reader, #*fandom name* x reader, and #*character name* x reader for easier filtering. Also people cruise those tags too so it'll help people who fo want to read that content find your stuff!

aita for wanting a 200$ refund on a 400$ model that was REALLY below par in both quality and customer service?
This was one of my first monetary experiences with my own credit card and account, to preface.
So, I'm learning SFM and have regular dates with my boyfriend in vrchat. Between the two of us we knew enough to make models of myself in both, but not enough to make one for my headmate that me and her would both be satisfied with.
TL;DR, the first modeler we went to cancelled after we proved too impatient for them and they didn't need the comm money, so we put out a post calling for 3d models and asked our moots to spread it on here and on Twitter.
Eventually, we found a few artists that were within our post-high-school graveyard shift budget, but then an artist appeared in our asks that was interested in our order. Now, from the very BEGINNING they were blaring Sus alarms in our head with how they typed, their profile, their portfolio, the whole thing, but we still talked with them about it and eventually got to dming on discord over it.
We agreed on 350 with a down payment for the model, and she went to work. Somewhere along the line it increased to 400 with a down payment but I don't remember the circumstances for why.
I was a little impatient at times, but she still did good work, even if she misinterpreted our suggestions sometimes and was high at least once when we asked for an update.
We'd assumed that she would rig it for SFM and VRC as a part of the main payment. She then told us it would cost extra for the rigging.
We were understandably miffed but she justified it with money problems, so we sighed and went with it. When it was finished, she sent us a ZIP file holding all of it, and...then we didn't have any idea how to get it working.
She helped us, thankfully, but the whole thing was really annoying for our computer illiterate phone-dwelling ass. And then we had no clue about unity because it had been years since we'd made the other model with a base. Then she joked about having a $140 fee for it and that was pretty much the final straw for us, deciding to just pay someone else to port it for us because we were getting genuine headaches from it.
Since then, we've been using the model as planned, but have noticed a lot of clipping issues with it, it turns out the person we found to port it actually does similar quality models from scratch for like a FRACTION of the price, and despite us telling her it was going to be used on Oculus(i refuse to call it Meta) Quest, it was INCREDIBLY unoptimized for it.
This is a first world problem to hell and back and I'm not actually going to do it because I don't want to deal with her again after all the miscommunication but
Aita for being suspicious enough I've been scammed/fed a sob story to want at least a partial refund here?
What are these acronyms?

I'm probably gonna regret attaching my name to this but I slept on it and I'm still really upset but now more coherent (so please delete this if it's unwelcome).
First of all I'm really sorry you're dealing w this shit. I hope you're taking care of yourself rn.
Second of all.... holy fuck Inneskeeper has handled this horribly. I'm trying to extend the benefit of the doubt and say he just needs time, we all do, but it's very hard when he's been acting as though a day is enough time for everyone to get over the fear he spread.
It's really upsetting to see him bring up both his schizophrenia and his career as reasons why he was upset without ever actually uttering the words "I'm sorry, I was wrong." without needing to read between the lines.
It's a really concerning trend I've noticed reappearing now that actual celebrities and just plain old popular users are becoming more open with their mental health, that "I was having a psychotic break/I was having a manic episode/I was blah-de-blah" somehow taking the place of an actual apology. As if explaining it means you no longer have to take action or responsibility.
Especially given he was bringing up his profession during all this. As a professional especially he has a responsibility. I know "this is tumblr" but this is TUMBLR. People don't fact-check. You have sway. Especially as a professional.
He could've made the post unrebloggable, but if he did I haven't seen it. He could've pinned a post that actually contained information/a retraction/a quick apology and explanation, instead we got "I'm taking a break". He edited the post, but given part of his defense was that reblog chains are uncontrollable an edit you would not see unless you clicked back to his blog is...
I'm really hoping that once he comes back he'll say something. Because I know parasocial relationship and all that but I really did respect him, as someone transgender and with some of my specific mental illnesses in a field I'm deeply interested in.
But now I'm just... tired. He spread that same cycle of panic and delusion to everyone who read that post. Here I was thinking that I just got my dog back from the vet and now she and everyone else I love was going to die, that the apocalypse was coming.
Until I did the googling he as an actual ecologist did not do. As if me taking a tumblr post and freaking is less acceptable than him taking a twitter post and freaking.
I don't want to cancel him or bully him. I don't doubt that he's gotten some ableist nonsense, because the internet sucks. But he really hurt a lot of people and did a lot of damage. All I want is him to plainly say "I'm sorry, I did it because [x/y/z] but it was still wrong and I hurt people. Here is some actual information. I'm going to log off." Without a billion asterisks.
And honestly maybe apologize for siccing people on you but frankly given how hard my opinion of him has tanked I'm not gonna hold my breath.
I'm fine. The block button is a wonderful thing.
My feelings are mixed. Yes, I see that it would be terrifying to have your mental illness warp your perception of an event, but...you're not the only mentally ill person on Earth, and it's no less terrifying to be triggered into an episode by false information.
I have been asked by several followers to trigger tag #unreality because that kind of thing really messes with them. And the post was framed in a particularly triggering way—encouraging conspiratorial thinking by saying that there's a "media blackout" and that the official sources are downplaying the severity.
The post is still circulating as of this morning, and the misleading version is still hitting people's dashes and suckering people in. Why would you not just make it unrebloggable?
I don't know. I really don't know what to think of the whole thing.
The Twitter OP makes me honestly furious, claiming that "the cops" "blew it up" when it was first responders putting their lives in danger to stop the burning train cars from exploding. It's so frustrating to see people acting like they're calling it a "controlled burn" to cover up idiotic mismanagement. The crews that responded to this accident at great potential risk to their lives don't deserve to be called cops and slandered for making the best decision they could have possibly made.
In general it's worrying how folks on social media are responding—by encouraging paranoia and mistrust by attributing malice or idiocy to the people trying to manage the accident.
Folks say "fuck cops" but they can't distinguish cops from firefighters and hazardous materials crews working to save lives. That's scary to me.
I don't think we know enough yet to ascertain the causes of the accident, but I want to caution against looking for a specific party to blame as being at fault, because...these things can happen even when we do everything right. As long as we use these hazardous chemicals to make things, this is always a possibility.
And it's not necessarily a "preventable" failure of society that we make and use PVC, either. One of the causes of how widespread plastics are is that they are genuinely useful materials with properties that no other materials have. PVC pipe is what probably makes the plumbing in your house. Before PVC, there was copper, which is incredibly expensive, has a tendency to burst with temperature changes, and corrodes and reacts with various chemicals.
And the sad fact is, environmental disasters like this happen a lot. Many of them worse than this.
Not too far from where I live, there was a case where tons of radioactive waste were dumped into a municipal landfill. This radioactive waste was being handled by workers who didn't know what it was and had no protection. This was a case of malicious dodging of regulations. Mining coal creates radioactive and toxic waste that is constantly mismanaged. I was doing reports on local environmental news for my geology class a while back and many of the coal mines in Eastern Kentucky have a hundredfold violations of environmental and safety regulations, and companies usually dodge responsibility.
I hope this incident inspires people to think and talk about environmental regulations and rights of workers in the rail industry. What with the railroad strikes going on, I think it's worth considering that this is why we need to look out for the welfare of rail workers—you want the people handling the shipment of hazardous chemicals to be well rested and well protected.

Maybe I'm misremembering (several disorders that cause memory issues will do that to you) but didn't you. Make a post that addressed the things everyone on Twitter is upset about now? Like, *you* brought this stuff up, talked about it openly, but they're treating it like it was this shocking, big secret. Did I miss something? Or is it really as simple as people (as per usual) not really paying attention to where/when/how the information they're using is coming to light?
Maybe because of how long I've been in fandom spaces (been ten years! A whole decade!) I've sort of learned to check who exactly I'm getting information from, but I guess no one else really... Learned to do that? I swear, this sudden implosion wouldn't have been happening if people just... Paid attention.
Sorry if this is rambling at all, I'm just... Baffled. I haven't even been sticking around your blog that long (roughly 2-3 months? Maybe longer) but the stuff everyone's getting up in arms about has been *known* to me. I thought everyone else *also* knew this. I've sent a few asks by now, so I've been around the block here.
Anyways. Long ask, hope you don't mind, but it seems you get a lot of long asks. I may dislike some of the things you ship, but... I dunno. I used to ship ZaDr when I was, what, eight or nine? And I'd be willing to bet some of the people up in arms with you right now also have a few skeletons in their closet, so I'm not putting much stock in the moral high ground they're touting. Just... Hang in there, weather the storm. I know you say you're tough and all that, but a little encouragement never hurt anyone.
It's pretty baffling, and your guess is as good as mine. It's like no, I've never been (or wanted to be) the place in the Viv critical world you go to talk about Viv's bathtub snakes like they're the worst thing she's ever done. That's down the hall and to the right. I'm the unrepentant monsterfucker who's good at keeping receipts and secrets, and have periodically defended Viv's weirder fictional tastes because I don't think they're that big of a deal.
Guarantee you the people up in arms about me have skeletons in their own closets, and not even well-hidden ones. Norry likes Beetlebabes, noncon, and Pentious's feral snake dongs. Artsy's got not one, but two callout videos. I just had someone quote retweet me calling me weird, and then their timeline was full of half-nude, humanized Mickey Mouse art, complete with treasure trail.
Thanks for the encouragement. Would you believe that this isn't the worst rodeo I've endured?

Very Big and Very Long AI rant.
After the recent OpenAI stuff I'm gonna be here to share my two cents about the whole very realistic AI stuff, from the perspective of a very anxious and very art oriented person who loves techy stuff.
I very much would understand if this isn't your cup of tea so it's all undercut, thank you for your time anyways <3
Now. Onto the AI stuff.
Recently OpenAI has put out some new technology that's showing off some very nearly realistic videos and they're both creepy and very uncanny. About 2 or 3 years ago, the concerns about AI was already rising with deep fakes and the such and is going to start being a lot worse if this technology isn't properly regulated. This is what is prompting my very long and apparently, 927 word rant.
Going to put this in a few parts so it'll be easier to digest I hope.
About the tech.
We are at a point where the lines of AI generated content and real life are starting to blur. It's to a point where a sentence or a prompt could create scenes that look realistic enough that most people wouldn't even suspect that it's AI.
It is such a powerful and interesting technology that's slowly growing out of control. The people who are supposed to regulate the content and lawmakers has no idea what the fuck is going on and how the content is made in the first place, how are they supposed to make a change when they don't even understand what they're supposed to be tackling. The lack of understanding of how AI functions, how it comes to be, where the data was even gotten from in the first place and how it will impact society as a whole will truly be how we'll lose control of it someday. I'm not saying any of this because I want to be a 'hinderance to the future of technology', I'm saying this because the later we try to do something about it, the harder it is to do anything that is useful and effective for safeguarding artists, creators and everyone else who's using the internet. Not to mention the amount of frauds or scams that will skyrocket, children's safety on the internet being compromised, YOUR safety on the internet being compromised, people faking inappropriate images, videos and more will be a nightmare to deal with.
About art.
Many corporate companies unfortunately don't give a fuck about how the art is made and whether it's good or not but how fast it can be made and how much money can be made off of it. In their eyes, the trade off between quantity and quality is worth it. And that to me is extremely frustrating because where the art comes from should also be a part of the story when talking about art. Who the person who made it was like, how they developed a certain style and so on should be cared about and should be appreciated just like the art piece that was created. It shouldn't just be treated as another piece of thing to be fed to the scanner to be spat out as something else.
About creating.
Art is intrinsically a very human thing. People who make the argument "it's letting more people experience how it's like to create art" doesn't understand what it's like to create art. The entire idea of art is the learning, developing and polishing of the skills that you yourself develop. Taking away the steps that it took to get there in the first place diminishes the point of wanting to make art in the first place. It's degrading the time, energy and effort of the people who've already put effort into creating said art to be put out as a cheap and gross mimic of what it came from.
More emotional stuff that doesn't fit in any of the spaces above.
I saw someone use the word 'amalgamation' to describe what AI is today and that about wraps it all up. It's an amalgamation of dots and data skinned off of what there was and chained together to create an image, a video, an audio sample and more without a shred of humanity, love or emotion put into it.
I barely go on twitter nowadays, when I so, I see people sing high praises about the "the amazing advances of AI" and downplay the part of artists that were stolen for to create the technology they love so much in the first place. This whole ordeal makes me sick. It's depressing to see companies laying people off because they're seen as useless or worse than AI. It's disgusting to see the amount of talented people out there stolen from so that people could churn out heartless work at a faster pace to replace you. It's not a stepping stone for humanity, we're stepping over the ledge blindfolded.
I will never stop creating. It's what makes up a big part of me and will continue to be even if AI starts crumbling humanity to ash. One thing they can never take from us is creativity.
To the people who read this far, thank you. Thank you for spending your time to read over my word vomit that has been cooking in my head for the longest time.
To the artist that are still reading this. Remember you are irreplaceable. Without your art, this technology wouldn't have been here in the first place. Your art is invaluable. Never stop creating. Never give up, never give in.
Have a bear <3

I think about this scene a lot and now I'm going to talk about it.
Reposting this from my Twitter Tomb
Tumblr media
This moment really hit me when I first watched the 2021 anime adaption. Why? Because it was one of those rare moments with Anna showing herself being vulnerable.
Tumblr media
Now, you could take this as 'If you don't get stronger Yoh, another man will take me and make me his wife' type of thing. Especially as this happens after Anna's run in with Hao. Hao drops a couple of comments about Anna being such a good choice for an Asakura bride, so this could definitely be it.
Tumblr media
Anna knows Hao is strong. She plays it cool, but still understands what a threat he is. She isn't stupid.
Personally, I feel like Anna was intimidated by him, even if just for a moment. She was caught off guard when he caught her hand, something no one had done.
Tumblr media
That's why I put in another option here. A mixture to the feelings Anna must have been feeling.
I feel like it could also have been Anna showing that she was worried Hao could 'take her' and use her. And I'm not referring to a romantic way. I mean to just use Anna for her power in order to get what he wants.
I say this as a Haona enjoyer too but we have fanfics for that.
Tumblr media
If Yoh doesn't get stronger, then Hao could easily defeat him, take Anna and use her power for himself. Hao is so driven to achieve his goal to become Shaman King that he will do whatever it takes. He will use whoever it takes.
Look, I am a Hao fan. I love Hao, and I will forgive him for whatever, but I know what he would do in order to finally reach that goal of becoming Shaman King.
Tumblr media
We know Anna is super strong and a badass. We love her for it. But in Osorezan Revoir, we saw the Oh-Oni take her and take advantage of her/her power. What if she was worried it could happen all over again?
And I mean not with Oh-Oni or other Oni's resurfacing. I mean being used again as a source of power.
Tumblr media
I think a lot of us in the fandom can agree there is a lot more to Anna than what we saw during her fight with Hao.
Anna is Anna. But who is Anna? Takei, please show us one day
I feel like Anna knows it too, that there is so much more to her, and that is what is so terrifying. What if she is taken and used again like the Oh-Oni did? But this time it isn't on a snowy mountain away from the population, it is the whole world.
All those feelings; worry, sadness, guilt.
Tumblr media
So when Anna says 'someone else might take me', I feel like it comes from an anxious and worried place. Like she needs Yoh to be stronger, she needs him to be there.
Anna needs him, she needs Yoh.
And there are some thoughts. If you made it through the long read, thank you.
These are only my head rambles so feel free to add your own points. All respectful please :)
P.S. The way the English dub f**ked this whole scene over and did Anna dirty, is my villian origin story.

This whole deal with Ottawa and Dadonov - could you possibly help me understand what happened plainly? I'm a little confused with the twitter lingo. Thank you 💙
No prob, anon! Under the cut for you 💜
So Evgenii Dadonov, when he signed his contract with Ottawa, had an M-NTC (modified no-trade clause, or colloquially a no-trade list). I believe he could put 10 teams on the list. What that means is, by a certain time on a certain day (usually, the first day of free agency), he submits a list of teams he would NOT consent to be traded to. If his team (the Senators) wants to trade him to a team that is NOT on this list, they can do it and he can't complain (like the Bruins did with Taylor Hall, shipping him to Chicago because it wasn't on his list). If they want to trade him to a team that IS on this list, they basically have to beg him to waive the M-NTC, and he can say no, and they can go kick sand about it (like the Blues had to because Torey Krug wouldn't waive his full NMC to facilitate the Kevin Hayes trade).
When the Senators traded Dadonov to Vegas, he did not have Vegas on his no-trade list, but he did have Anaheim. He keeps his M-NTC when he moves from Ottawa to Vegas, as he didn't have to waive it. Vegas later trades him to Anaheim, and when he and his agent hear about it, they immediately ask "What the fuck, wasn't Anaheim on the no-trade list?" The NHL confirms it and the trade is cancelled, much to the embarrassment of the Knights. Oops.
So why are the Senators being punished? When Vegas and Ottawa were on call to figure out their trade, Vegas (obviously) asked Ottawa "hey, so what's Dadonov's no-trade list?" And Ottawa said "oh, he didn't submit one this year." This was a lie - Dadonov did, in fact, submit the no-trade list. Supposedly, Dorion was the only person on the call, which is also highly suspect. So from what it sounds, Dorion knowingly lied to the Knights about the no-trade list not having been submitted, presumably to get them to agree to the trade, and this blew up in his face.
There's apparently a 73-page document that the NHL issued after investigating this, so it's safe to say that Dorion is almost certainly guilty here. And Andlauer, the new owner, is NOT happy about losing that first-round pick. So Dorion got canned.
But why is Vegas doing this? Mostly to clear themselves from the stigma of not honoring M-NTCs. Vegas is... kind of infamous for being a place where contracts go to die and people get traded with no feelings involved (see: Marc-André Fleury). Having a reputation, however real, of ignoring no-trade lists? Not great. At all. So Vegas wants to clear its name here, officially.
Also, a little bit, to help themselves in the long run - if Ottawa loses a first-round pick, everyone else moves up one spot. So it helps, just a little bit, in the future.
"But wait, isn't there an NHL-owned registry of no-trade clauses?" LOL no, actually! It's a privacy thing, from what it sounds like - imagine if someone got their hands on all the no-trade list details and leaked them. It could cause massive backlash. So the NHL puts the burden on teams, and teams have generally been good at dealing with no-trade list stuff and transmitting the necessary information. Well, until now.
Hope this helps!!!

Listen as a RG shipper who has been burned by other shows with ships I don’t wanna put my tin hat on. But NEO??? Has been using Oscar A LOT to mess with Ruby. And assuming she turned into Ruby to trick Oscar to get the lamp back in V7 👀👀👀 also I just rewatched V5 and when they all have a sit down he just stares at her and Ruby giggles and I’m like “HE THINKS SHES PRETTY AWWWW” like I’m not calling it shipbait bc I have no idea if they will become Bee levels of canon and I’ll be fine if they don’t. But MAN do they care about each other A Lot in canon to the point where the Optical Illusion character uses them to hurt each other. Like Yang? Her big sister totally get it. Penny? Neo knew when she died with her first body that’s her best friend after or alongside Weiss but Weiss isn’t dead. But OSCAR!?? The guy she only met THREE volumes ago HES the one who shows up? Not her UNCLE or JAUNE but FARMBOY????
Neo ships it (evily) is all I’m saying
I don't wanna get peoples hopes up in case crwby somehow swerves off course or we just don't get to see the end of the show, but I genuinely don't think it's shipbait at this point.
First want to bring up the v5 thing. Yes he stares at and giggles at her, firmly believe that boy had a case of love crush at first sight... but Ruby ends up mirroring very similar tone, dialogue, and body language later on in the fumble scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar: Ah, sorry! Ruby: Heh, sorry-
Putting behind a read more cause i'm riled up with new rwby/whole loaf of rg bread zoomies and don't feel very coherent rn aha.
There is a post somewhere on this site that i can't find anymore which goes through all the BB/RG parallels (a shorter copy of it exists here on twitter) and that list since v9 just keeps getting longer.
Like... Sorry, Blake's biggest fear in v3 was that her past would come back and hurt those she loves. She is proven right to fear that when Adam shows up and attacks Yang and then because she can't handle that guilt, Blake runs away??
Vs.
Ruby, being terrified that if she carries on the path she's headed down, more of her friends will die. And Neo uses Oscar (and Little, who strongly parallels him) to prove Ruby's fears right which also leads her to 'running away'? Because the thought of hurting him, of losing him is just something Ruby can't bare????
Bro.
The ship parallels themselves are so specific and are absolutely worth mentioning, but RG itself stands so strongly even on it's own. The narrative orbits and constant, consistent emphasis on how much Ruby and Oscar care about each other is deafening at this point.
Tumblr media
Just about everyone in the main cast has gone through huge portions of their character arcs in the previous eight volumes. Except for our protagonist... until now.
The scene we get in v9e8 where Neo uses Oscar as the last nail in Ruby's coffin ties him directly to her fatal flaw. They could have used anyone else. It could have been Yang. It could have been Qrow. It could have been her team partner Weiss. It could have been Blake, someone that's admitted to looking up to her. It could have been Penny a third time.
But. It. Wasn't.
It was Oscar.
Oscar, who was the first illusion Ruby saw when falling. Oscar, who is the only person she's close to that she didn't get to properly reunite with in v8. Oscar, who's absence in the Ever After has been SO STRONG to anyone that's paid attention to their dynamic up until now.
Ruby's fatal flaw is her grief, and by extension, loneliness and guilt. Ruby has shouldered all of this weight for so long alone and every volume up until now shows us that there is one person that made her feel like she was actually on equal footing for once. Maybe not completely alone. That she had someone looking out for her as much as she looked out for them. Oscar. And when Neo, the illusionist, uses Oscar's death against Ruby? That is her first of two breaking points.
I'm sorry - and i gotta emphasize this isn't directed at you so much as a general declaration - but at this point any anti, meaner, or non-believer that tries to tell me there is not very clear evidence in show pointing to RG needs to stop telling me to take off shipping glasses and has to just put like... normal reading glasses on lskd;jlfks
It is just... undeniable to me at this point. Despite still hearing people refer to them as siblings when it's like... if they wanted to emphasize the sibling bond, YANG WAS RIGHT FREAKING THERE!!
If Ruby is getting a love interest in show (cough cough she already has one) there is literally NO ONE else that fits the bill. They wouldn't introduce someone new this late in the game, and of the rest of the remaining cast, she has not been shown as close to any of them in the ways that tie to her character arc as strongly as this one does.
Ruby is the protagonist, Oscar is the deuteragonist. The core of this story orbits around both of them as the the chosen warrior destined to defeat Salem and barer of Oz's curse, respectively. Their individual character arcs also tie to and parallel each other's consistently: Oscar, who is trying so hard to hold onto his identity despite the merge vs Ruby who has spent this entire volume trying to push hers away.
Yes, all other Ruby ships are valid, don't get me wrong. But from a canon, narrative perspective, Rosegarden is the only one that is being pushed this aggressively.
And I can't be convinced otherwise at this point 🤡

The Official Risk of Rain Discord and its hellish state.
(Raw text because iirc titles fuck up screen readers: "The Official Risk of Rain Discord and its hellish state." End raw text.)
fuck it. you know you've really fucked up when providence from risk of rain 1 is banned from the official discord. this post is extremely long and contains a lot of information. so do be warned lol. i will make a video with visual evidence at some point
I'm Providence, also known as unmatchedpowerofthesun and comically large ukulele on Discord as a whole, and "john fiberglass #1 paladin fan" in the official Risk of Rain discord -- which will be referred to as Officialcord. As you may know, I'm banned. I was banned yesterday. All because I got muted for disagreeing with one of the moderators (Sai) while having a 'problematic' role (…meaning you have to walk on fucking eggshells not to get banned) thanks to putting 'paladin sex gang' in my username (alongside some friends' usernames. they joined in) at some point.
Over the past few months, I have discovered numerous shitty moderation practices in Officialcord.
Why should you care? Well -- simple.
It's because Officialcord is one of the largest, if not the largest part of the Risk of Rain community, being where people are most likely to go for help, for looking at & posting RoR-related content, and for finding people to play multiplayer with. Yes, other games' official discords have shitty moderation. But that's not the point here. The point here is that I'm, to put it bluntly, disappointed in the server's choice of moderators and community manager.
Before continuing, I should say that this callout of the server's moderation practices has mentions of pedophilia and zoophilia.
Most of my sources will be kept anonymous.
Please keep this in circulation for as long as possible. I will be pinning this on my profile and linking this on burner Twitter and Reddit accounts in just a moment.
As far as I remember, my investigation started when Kirn, a known dickhead in Officialcord, caused several major modders to leave the server. Pelontrix (pelontriques on here) was punished with a mute for pointing out Kirn's behavior. The mute was of excessive length, and was only fixed when I jumped in to argue with the moderators. It took a long, long time for the moderators to even do the slightest thing about Kirn's behavior towards other members. People have asked to get rid of Kirn numerous times and it never worked (which is funny, because one of my friends' friends was banned just because people kept asking him to be banned). It took him repeatedly telling a new member to go fuck themself to get muted, and took even longer for him to get the problematic role. And it only took 'paladin sex gang' to force me and two friends to walk on eggshells around the moderators.
During the time between Kirn causing modders to leave and my banishment, I was able to discover a lot about the server with the help of various other people, including some who were around during the era of game-discussion-1.
Before talking about GD1, though, I should talk about the modern Officialcord. The moderators claim not to have time to moderate the art chat despite one of the mods (TiltedHat) being one of the major active members of it (and random new, potentially innocent members being banned thanks to all of the alt account incidents that've happened lately). Rules against sexual content exist in the server, and while I'd normally say full power to people being horny on main, couldn't they all take it elsewhere? A friend of mine was effectively blamed for someone sexualizing his work without his consent, and if I remember correctly, it brought him to the point of a breakdown. Every channel should be moderated with equal rules. If nowhere else in the server allows even things as mild as adding 'paladin sex gang' to your nickname, then TiltedHat posting sexual art of his Lemurian OC shouldn't be tolerated in the art chat. He's a moderator -- he should know the rules. Sai has given a pass on this, even.
For some reason, here and there, people who want to fuck Acrid appear and talk about their desire for the acid dog and are left unpunished. One of them even pinged SeventeenUncles, the community manager, and talked about wanting to see Acrid and Heretic smash. According to my sources, there was someone who talked for hours (unexaggerated) about wanting to fuck Acrid, and was never punished. The moderators are more concerned about people posting 'offtopic media' than they are about Acridfuckers. Someone's first warning was a 12-day mute and a "this is your last warning" message over offtopic imagery. Another person was muted for three days and given snarky comments over Modmail for posting a barely emote-sized gif of a cat.
At some point, someone mildly disrespected my boundaries and was erased from the server. Somewhat excessive, in my opinion. They could have just been left with a verbal warning, but y'know, problematic role and all… You have to be ridiculously fucking careful not to get banned when the moderators label you problematic.
Onto my banishment. Somebody with Huntress ass in their profile picture said "i'm actually bandit main but i aint homo", and while I can vaguely understand where Sai was coming from, his reaction was fucking unwarranted and outright admin abuse. People explained to Sai how 'homo' is just the abbreviation of 'homosexual', Sai claiming that it hasn't been a "socially acceptable way to refer to people in a long time". GetterRocka, a bi man, explained that he takes offense not to the word but rather to the fact that Sai was offended on others' behalf. Sai additionally made extremely dickish comments towards MonsterSkinMan. I disagreed with Sai's point, was muted, and then I was banned because I had the problematic role thanks to the whole 'paladin sex gang' thing. Sai tried to change the topic afterwards, diverting from his admin abuse. One of my friends disagreed with Sai and was immediately nuked.
My ban appeal was denied. I talked about how my ban didn't make sense, about the problems the moderation team displays, and even mentioned how I wanted to see it improve. I went to SeventeenUncles, telling him directly about moderation problems. I was also ignored. It's somewhat ironic, how the moderators talk so much about how you can appeal bans and how you can go to Modmail to speak your problems about the server, yet tickets and appeals are rejected and ignored more often than not.
Finally, the potentially triggering subjects I mentioned early on -- pedophilia and zoophilia.
The user, Withor, is known to be a sexual predator by various members of the Risk of Rain community. The Officialcord moderation team doesn't remove people so long as they follow the rules of the server (even the New Blood staff were willing to ban a zoophile I found using external evidence FROM the Fall of GD1, and the NB discord is known for also being poorly moderated). Withor has sent sexual images to fellow community members, including minors, and falsely accused Noop of grooming her. She once also said that the age of consent should be 14.
One of the moderators, Charlotte, had defended a zoophile in the past. Someone said "…according to the mod team of this discord server you can be the most decrepit human being possible but it's fine as long as you behave well and stay on topic…" and Charlotte confirmed this, saying "yes because no one would ever know. whats is so difficult to understand". During the Fall of GD1, barely anything was done about the zoophiles in the chat, each one barely getting a slap on the wrist meanwhile people posting MGR:R reaction gifs were banned.
I guess, as long as you're on-topic, ([cough] SeventeenUncles defending people harassing Hopoo Games over the Gearbox deal, because it was on-topic [cough]) anything goes.
From here I'll post additional content, including my ban appeal, my message to Suncles, and a callout post on Reddit from James, Paladin's creator and one of the sparks that brought my plan to reconstruct the moderation team to life -- before it was ruined by my ban.
----------
"Why did you get muted/banned?" My answer: Speaking out against one of your moderators -- Sai in particular, who you should know well enough by now is an issue. All I said was that 'homo' is the shortened form of 'homosexual', which is a more formal term for a gay person (I, myself, am asexual, so I have the right to talk about this -- Sai is offended on behalf of people that don't care). Sai was more concerned about that word than about the person in question having Huntress's ass as their pfp. And then I was muted because I had a problematic role for the dumbest reason imaginable -- putting 'paladin sex gang' in my nickname, when the art chat has discussed far more in-depth sexual topics instead of just a little joke between friends. I had not been given any punishment before that, outside of a non-punishment: getting a system warning for posting off-topic media.
"Why do you believe your appeal should be accepted?" My answer: See my ban reason for an explanation on why my ban doesn't make sense. I hope you all are willing to accept that your moderation team has a problem, and that I wish to see it improve.
"Is there anything else you would like for us to know?" My answer: That is it, for now.
----------
Next: My message to Suncles.
----------
Hello, SeventeenUncles. As you may be oblivious to, the server that you serve as the manager of has numerous problems. From the moderation to the community itself. The moderation is either biased, nonexistent, excessive, or all three at once. Even a new member, the horny Huntress pfp guy who’s also a source of evidence to prove the moderation team’s failure, was able to point this out. I feel like that should prove the point that I and many others have been trying to make for a long, long time.
I originally started investigating this server’s moderation practices when the team refused to do anything about Kirn making major modders leave. Then there was that whole thing where Pelontrix was muted for pointing out Kirn’s behavior, for an excessive time, and it was only fixed when I argued against it.
Then I discovered what happened during the era of GD1. You can’t ignore the fact that one of your moderators, Charlotte, defended a zoophile. You can’t ignore the fact that barely anything was done about the zoophiles in the chat. Even the New Blood discord, which is also poorly moderated, was willing to get rid of a zoophile that I found the ID of when I brought in evidence from Officialcord. And your moderators instead banned people who were posting MGR:R gifs, over actually doing something about the zoophiles. Taxipone also accidentally pasted MLP BDSM during a mass mute.
Meanwhile, your moderation team refuses to get rid of people for external reasons. My source? The whole zoophilia incident. Alongside the fact that you have a sexual predator in your server — Withor. While I don’t have direct screenshot evidence of her behavior, I’ve been told about it by several people. She once said that the age of consent should be 14 (because that’s the AoC in her country, I guess), falsely accused Noop of grooming her (why?), and has requested to send sexual images to multiple people, including minors.
The art channel is very shittily moderated, as is everything related to sexual content. Three people who put ‘paladin gex sang’ in their nicknames are given a 3-day mute and the problematic role — great job. Great fucking job. And our opinions meant nothing as a result of that, because every minor slip-up could get us banned. One of your moderators clearly liked me for whatever reason, because someone who was mildly disrespectful towards my boundaries was instantly obliterated… which is somewhat excessive. But. Still.
Oh, yeah, remember when MSM was tempbanned? And when Tizi was tempbanned for posting fucking header text only a few times? What’s with all of this?
Finally, that brings us to what happened today. Sai was offended on behalf of the most bullshit reason imaginable, more concerned about someone using ‘homo’ than the fact that their profile picture is Huntress’s ass. Funny, because paladin sex gang got a 3-day mute and a problematic role. But regardless — Sai’s dickish comments and them banning two people (including myself) and refusing to appeal our bans (while mine contained a lot of evidence against them… which further proves my point) cannot be excused. Sai being fine with Hat’s unmatched horniness and punishing people for, again, minor things like ‘paladin sex gang’, cannot be excused either. Nor can Sai attempting to divert the topic from all of the proof against them.
By the way, someone once directly pinged you with a message talking about how they wanted to see Heretic and Acrid smash. What are your thoughts on that? :]
To summarize: Your moderation team is a failure. Fix it. I have heard that the server has become worse ever since you became community manager, but I haven’t been in the Risk of Rain community long enough to confirm.
Ban appeals aren’t listened to, and neither are modmail messages, no matter how much Sai tries to direct people to modmail.
----------
Next up: James' Reddit post. I was given permission to add it to here in text form.
----------
Source: The top comment of this post now that the original was deleted. James' post also includes screenshots from the Fall of GD1.
After having been in the Discord for three years, I was recently banned for, I assume, informing people of the lack of care and the level of incompetence that is shown by a few moderators in the ROR2 Discord and the sheer lack of authority that is being enforced over them.
I was never given modmail, never given the opportunity to appeal, despite having been there for a long time. A good friend of mine was also in there and decided to help answer questions about my team's mod, Paladin, in my absence. He was shortly banned as well. What was strange is that he received modmail and they quickly denied his appeal in seconds without even reading the appeal.
We've come to the conclusion that as time has gone on, moderators like Charmlie, Sai, and TaxiPone have proven time and time again their lackluster and failure as moderators with repeated mistakes and false bannings. With my time in the Modding Discord, I have received countless DMs from users that also never received modmails for why they were kicked or banned, or that were caught in crossfires from said bans/kicks.
I will provide an image as well as to some context to these next sentences. Charmlie had given a half-assed apology and was saying that, paraphrased, "zoophilia was not something for them to worry about." Sai is arrogant and talks to most of the users in the Discord in a demeaning and "I'm above you" manner, shutting down almost anyone that dares to try and speak up about them in a negative manner. I am appalled that these two are still moderators after this long of this nonsense.
The image provided was during the fall of General-Discussion-1. I had wanted to talk about this some time ago when this had happened but I decided to hold my tongue as, while it proved a lot of the faults and issues of the existing moderators, it was still really damn funny. However, after recent events, I've decided to actually speak up about this. While I dislike Reddit as a whole, I felt this was too important to bring up.
There needs to be a reform. There needs to be a new selection of trustable moderators that actually CARE about their community. I can understand why I was banned, sort of, because I was rather persistent in my disdain for the existing moderators and their lack of competence and lack of care for their fellow server members. However, the false banning of my friend Infinite#2473, a good bud of mine from highschool, and claiming he was nothing more than an "alt," and then blatantly ignoring and quickly denying his appeal was finally enough.
I will not be responding to any comments or DMs in regards to this. I am not here to discuss outcomes, solutions, etc. I am here to only push awareness to this idiocy and to promote a change. I don't care to be unbanned nor does Infinite. Since I was never given the option to appeal, why bother asking for one now, especially when they REFUSE to explain to me why?
I send this message in hopes that the community will stand up and improve instead of allowing itself to be pushed around in such a manner. I say these things because I care about the ROR2 Community I've been a part of for years and it's infuriating to see how bullied and abhorrent it has become because of these higher ups that clearly don't care about you in the slightest.
See you on the other side, I hope you improve instead of sweeping these issues under the rug for the fourth time, pretending like nothing happened, like you did with the meme channel, GD1, GD2, etc. Be better and change for both yourself and the community, instead of this megalomaniac nonsense. I will not be talking any further on Reddit or about this matter, so do not expect any form of response on this platform. This account was meant to be nothing more than a prevention of impersonation and to keep an eye on things. Goodbye.

Interest Check: Dead Dove Kink Meme
Hello hello, citizens, comrades, and companions of the MCYT fandom variety!
This is an interest check poll.
For what, you might ask? Well, have you ever heard of a Kink Meme?
"Knight, what the Hell is a Kink Meme", I hear you ask.
A Kink Meme, as some of the more ancient among us might remember, is a relic of Ye Olden Fandom Times: a magical congregation of anonymous lovers of fiction to exchange prompts and works, usually on blogging platforms like LiveJournal. Someone asks for a prompt fill, which can be anything! It can be just asking for a ship, or having a very specific plot bunny that you just want someone else to write, and someone else sees that prompts, likes it, and writes it! And I want to organize a Dead Dove stamped Kink Meme all about MCYT, our little cubitos and their little stories.
"Okay, but does it Need to be Dead Dove? That stuff is kinda icky" Well... Kinda, yeah? It being icky is precisely why I want it to be a Dead Dove centered event. There are so many wonderful events all over the internet that focus on wholesome, nice content, but someplace as gruesome as MCYT(and its lore) can be, we all could use a place to write out our darkest fantasies.
"But wait, would that mean, like *that icky kink I don't like* would be allowed?" Yes. I'll tell you more, even *that icky ship you don't like* would be allowed. That is exactly why a Kink Meme stays anonymous, on both the prompter and filler angle: so that anyone can ask for whatever they would like with no fear of backlash, cancellation, or dogpiling. You can ask for and write anything at all: from the sweetest of fluff to the most problematic incest goreporn. That is the beauty of a Kink Meme. The only thing that wouldn't be allowed, and that is more out of a technicality than anything, is RPF. This is about the cubitos, after all!
"Wait, write? What about artists?" That's a bit complicated. I would love to be able to host artists as well, but that greatly undermines the whole "anonymity" thing, because, 1. hosting images on ao3 is hard, and 2. art styles are subject to being much more recognizable than writing styles. If someone has any ideas on how to host images anonymously, please do say so, I would love to let artists in on this!
"Okay, where would it be hosted?" I haven't decided yet! Surely there will be an anonymous collection on Ao3 for writers to post their works to, and a tumblr blog to admin the event and answer any questions users might have.
"When would it be hosted?" Hopefully in 2024.
"That sounds cool! Can I talk about it to my friends?" Eh, slow your horses there, bucko. Reblogging on tumblr? Totally fine! Sharing this in your friends-only discord server? Go for it! But, for the love of God, don't put it anywhere the actual CC's might see it. Don't put it on twitter, and dear God don't @ the creators about it. This isn't about them. It's about us, and the characters, and making weird stuff.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to leave a comment down here or shoot me an ask!

i mentioned it in some tags fucking forever ago and I posted about it on twitter but might as well post it here too
"I can't be ableist, I'm [x]" has done so much damage to mentally ill and disabled spaces and or threatens to do so. and unchecked internalized ableism and unchecked ableism as a whole.
i am someone with unsavoury symptoms and conditions. There's no beating the bush about this one. My symptoms are considered ugly and there have been times where I've met people who have been all like, "Support people with unsavory symptoms" but when I actually started hanging out with them they ended up being more ableist than anyone I've ever met.
I have memory issues. On some days I forget things quite literally as they happen to me. There's no guarantee I'd remember what you've said to me. It doesn't mean I don't care, I literally sometimes forget what I was doing three minutes ago. no, I'm not making an excuse, I literally forgot that you were bothered by, say, bugs and it was not intentional. Now I will most likely remember but please don't be bothered if moving forward I ask you to clarify what you're bothered by.
I have issues with my emotions. I struggle to articulate what I'm thinking and feeling. PLEASE ask me to elaborate on things before jumping at me and accusing me of twisting things around or whatever, or inviting conflict, or a thousand other "UM ACTUALLY--"s. And please, PLEASE don't assume things, ASK ME THINGS. Let me speak.
I have issues with anxiety. I often distance myself from 90% of discord servers and even my own friends (even if they don't notice it) because I am deeply terrified that they secretly don't like me or they're seconds from snapping, or they find me annoying, or about a thousand fucking other things that there are times where I feel deeply, deeply ill. It's not that I don't like you; it's that I'm actively struggling with myself and putting forth a lot of effort to make things work on my end.
I have PTSD. That PTSD on top of the anxiety manifests in my fear of old terrible cycles repeating even if they're out of my control. This makes pretty much everything else mentioned way worse. Everything is a CONSTANT WAR within myself. I'm a perfectionist and I feel like even if it's not my fault I convince myself that I did something wrong and I rationalize things that way. There's also the bipolar and the BPD.
I am medicated and learning how to manage these things. But we need to accept that these symptoms are ugly, that while I'm doing my part, I and others like me still deserve grace and tenderness and we do NOT need our own community and/or communities who claim to have the exact same issues treating us like shit, spitting on us, or being in general hypocritical towards us in claiming that they support us but then do everything that seems to state the obvious.
it really is your own people sometimes. and it shouldn't have to be.
and whenever i try and say things like this I have people telling me I'm "DODGING RESPONSIBILITY," no I'm not, you cannot assume such things of me when you're only seeing me talking about a very real issue that I and many others face.
Stop reblogging and posting about how much you love and support "unsavoury" symptoms and conditions but then turn around and treat those very same people like absolute shit.
And don't get me started on how autistics like to treat other autistics just because their autism happens to be different.
I'm sorta fuzzy so it's super hard to really articulate or parse together what I'm trying to say properly but I hope what I'm trying to say comes across. Ableism within disabled and mentally ill communities fucking suck. Learn to actually care about and support people with symptoms and conditions you can't romanticize.

i don't get all the fuss about CCs reading fanfic. if you didn't want people to see it then why would you put it publicly online. like aren't you taught that if you don't want something to be seen you shouldn't put it on the internet?
i don't understand the people mad at tommyinnit for reading fanfic. like you have this space where you talk about this real person but *he's* not allowed to read it? wtf
anon this is so angrily worded are you okay lmao
i'm not really huge on fic writing myself (dabbled in it here and there but i have friends who are writers) and i care negative percent about the dee ess em pee side of things so I'm not really The Person to ask but I'll try my best to explain 👍
CCs reading fanfic is fine. They're allowed to lurk as much as everyone else is.
CCs reading fanfic in videos is exposing fic writers to their wider audience and mcyt fans have a history of harassing fandom creators into online nonexistence for any reason under the sun while simultaneously the CC themselves actively makes money off of the fic writer's work.
I ramble a bit more and it got kinda long but that's the main point. (more stuff under the cut)
Fics are "about" the cc, yes but they are often not made for the cc but rather for the writer and maybe a close group of friends. That means they're often a combination of the writer's love for the source material and a sprinkling of their own interests/experiences. This can go anywhere from smashing two interests together in crossover AUs to deeply personal stuff like using gay ships to explore their own experience as a queer person.
Straight CCs are Not Going To Understand the latter in the way that writer and their gay friends are going to enjoy it. They can read it but they're never gonna be able to look at it the way their fans will.
That's one of the more forward examples but this applies to everything. You will never have that degree of separation from the source material to be able to enjoy fic the way fans do, you're simply not the target audience.
What's more is (not talking about the thomas innit guy or whatever i genuinely don't know who he is lol) these reading fanfic videos tend to have more of an unfortunate.. point and laugh aspect to them? A lot of the time it's presented in this LOOK AT HOW WEIRD THIS THING IS! way that can be humiliating for the author and incite even more harassment because the audience gets introduced to the author not as a person but as entertainment. You can see how this is a bad combination when you consider the previous point about a lot of fanfic being personal, I hope. It all can feel just a bit exploitative.
It does Not take a lot for a CC to open the floodgates on harassment. Just earlier this year another youtuber followed one of his fan artists and that eventually lead to that artist being full-on doxxed. Regardless of anyone's opinions on that situation, whether the youtuber is to blame, etc. etc. it's a pretty blatant example of how CCs even just interacting with fan creators on social media can lead to people being unhinged if they don't like their work. Now imagine making a Whole Video.
and don't say "oh just don't write weird stuff you don't want them seeing" because:
a space where writers are afraid to share their more intimate experiences with taboo subjects like mental health, queerness, abuse, and so on is Not Healthy artistically. Less communication about these topics = less people finding others who are like them = more people feeling alone in the world. I don't want that just in a fandom because a youtuber (who is not forced to look at fic) doesn't want their cubito to kiss certain people.
people. will. find. things. weird. anyway. i've seen twitter call the most mundane, wholesome, coffee shop au fics PROBLEMATIC for daring to ship two characters who have a four or five year age gap. I've seen literally almost every ship you can think of get called incestuous at some point or another because Someone On Twitter said they have "sibling energy" and all of a sudden it's incest and the writer should Die I guess.
"weird stuff" is really hard to define in the first place.
CCs are not authority and we don't have to listen to or cater to them. Fic is never going to directly affect them.
this isn't even getting into character/cc divide and how it's different for everyone and a lot people don't like "writing about real people" so on so forth.
This is only tangentially related but there's this.. odd thing i've noticed where fic writers aren't "respected" in the way artists are in fandoms? I've noticed people are often "scared" to talk to artists and react to things like animatics with more awe than anything else ("this has no right to be as good as it is!") whereas with fanfics it's more like. WE'RE READING FANFIC?!?! 😳😳 (I GET MARRIED TO WHO?!?!?)
There's something to be said about how a skill gap in visual art is more immediately noticeable to your average person than in writing but anyway. anyway.

This got very long and i understand if you delete without reading.
Earlier this year, I decided that I wanted to spend less time on social media and more time writing and catching up on my book/show backlog. But for some reason any time I say something about wanting to focus on my hobbies I get push back from a friend as if that translates to me avoiding them (it's not. I talk to them on a daily basis but a lot of that is them sending me videos/tweets they want me to look at) I don't know how to explain that I don't want to waste my minute free time when I have hobbies I want to work on/indulge in.
They're in Fandom too so it's not as if they're confused at the concept. IDK how to put it, but it makes me feel discouraged that I feel like I'm expected to sit around waiting in case they want to chat and that if I say I'm working on something it's not important and I need to pay attention to them now but if I message them then I'm interrupting because they don't want to have to stop what they're doing to answer me. This leads to me doomscrolling Twitter because at any second they might want to talk so I feel like I can't do anything else because I struggle at multitasking. I can't text someone and watch something at the same time or whatever.
I don't know what to do about this because when I try to mention that I'm busy or working on something it gets ignored or turns into an argument. I am at the point where I dread my messenger going off.
I'm asking you and your followers for any tips because I am at my wit's end and you all have always been an understanding bunch.
I don't want to be a hermit but sometimes I need a couple of hours to write or read on my own. This is someone I have known for years who i know very well so it's not as simple as "take a break from Fandom and do your own thing" though I suppose that is what my goal was this year. Which makes it feel worse because for years we were really supportive of each other's interests/creative works and now it feels more like I'm meant to be supportive of them and not the other way around.
I know this was long, so thank you for even reading it. I appreciate even being able to vent safely.
As I read over this to make it as vague as possible it occurs to me there are multiple issues that just came pouring out. 😑 but. . .how do I get someone to understand I should have SOME time to do my own thing? I am starting to feel like they forgot I'm a separate person from them. They even get upset that I write fic for fandoms they aren't in and I am so very tired of feeling like I need to walk on eggshells.

"This got very long and i understand if you delete without reading."
This sounds very unlike me.
Re the situation, it sounds to me like these friends are either not very good friends in the first place or have backslid into "everyone exists to comfort me" due to pandemic stress or the like.
My dad calls things like writing "chunk work" where you need to work up to getting in the flow and you need uninterrupted focus. The opposite are all those petty little tasks that eat your whole day, like answering trivial business e-mails or doing the dishes.
Whether you have an attention disorder or executive function problems or no, most brains fundamentally have different modes and aren't good at doing things like creative writing without some uninterrupted time. This has very little to do with how much time you do or don't spend with friends and a lot to do with more consciously managing your day and your brain.
If these friends refuse to understand this or conflate it with taking a month off from friendship, that's a them problem, and you need new friends.
It's perfectly normal and fine to send a meme or a random discord PM to a friend and for them to respond hours later because they were busy.
It seems like there are actually 3 things going on here:
Your "friends" are pretending they don't understand how high-focus tasks work.
Your "friends" demand you be available at the drop of a hat in a way that is unrealistic and that ruins most people's schedules.
Your "friends" would consider it a massive imposition to be on-call for you in the same way but learn zero lessons about it being unreasonable in the other direction.
Possibly a fourth is that they have no intention of changing how they interact with social media, and they know that if you do, it signals the end of your routine interactions. And this might be true. I've lost friends, at least for a few years, when our internet use diverged.
But there's no way around it: if you don't want doomscrolling eating your time, you need to extract yourself from friend circles that interact heavily in real time on twitter. You need friends who write e-mails and wait for the response or who send a PM and are happy to come back to the conversation once you've answered.
