Controversial Opinion but one thing that I learned in the last few months of 2023 was to not accommodate my social anxiety at any cost. If you're someone like me, whose social anxiety is caused by fear of messing up and just not being used to socializing, then this is for you. Do not indulge or adapt to your anxiety, instead just do it. I know it seems ridiculous, but really you have to just expose yourself to what you're anxious and scared of, which in this case is socializing or basically doing anything publicly.

Exposure=Knowledge=practice=confidence=less anxiety because once you're exposed to your fear, it'll get easier. Sure, it may takes weeks, months and maybe even years, but you will eventually gain confidence and get better at it. For instance, let's say you suck at doing pull ups. But you practice it for 30 days and eventually you will see improvements. It's the same thing with social behavior, you won't get better at it if you don't participate in socializing. You have to show up, even if it's just for 5 minutes, even if it's just walking to the grocery shop. You need little steps to achieve confidence and fuck social anxiety up. If your anxiety is telling you not to do it because you'll look dumb or ugly or whatever, it's lying to you. You need to do it anyways. Literally cannot explain this enough, do it anyways, even if you're bad at it, even if you don't know how to do it. Do it anyways.

For as cheerful and outgoing as she seems at first glance, Emulator’s actually kind of nervous about potentially revealing herself to the crew like the USBs have. Mostly because she’s pretty sure they won’t like her that much. Part of her reasoning is that not only would it be intimidating to find out that the entire universe is a person, but several of them are already half-convinced that the universe is conspiring against them. The other part is that she looks almost exactly like Peach, and knows full well how little they like her.

So that’s why she’s never shown herself(except to Bob when he’s too high to realize she’s not a hallucination) and has asked the USBs not to mention her.

Rambled to my boo for ages about this but y'all can also have my Hot Take:

Disney movie Frozen had decent bones with its characters and wasn't half bad at some of the things it did and also can we talk about how ABSOLUTELY fucked up those girls' mental health was because oh my god.

We've got Elsa, elemental of self control, miss 'I've been raised with a mantra to always hide and stuff my emotions away or I may literally kill my family' who is alone for like ONE HOUR and has a musical number about how All Her Mental Illnesses Are Cured Now! Except the instant one (1) person shows up at her Alone Forever Castle she becomes the Anxiety Beast and swiftly devolves into a full panic attack.

Vs

Anna who is so emotionally starved that if you look at her for more than four seconds you both are Friends Until Death Do You Part. She is a starving animal desperate for any form of social interaction and doesn't even remember why her sister doesn't talk to her anymore and why her parents isolated the entire family from the outside world.

Elsa especially is such an emotional train wreck throughout most the movie like this woman is UNWELL! She needs some THERAPY!

okay apparently im not done ranting about quarantine puppies. for the love of god to NOT get a puppy if you won't bother with training and proper socialization. i don't care if you say it'll help your mental health, i don't care if you just reeeaaaally want one, i don't care if you're only gonna get a teeny tiny toy breed, do not get a damn puppy if you won't put in the necessary work for the sake of their own and other's safety

#owning a puppy is NOT a light task #it's months of training and careful socialization and possible reactivity work #by not doing that you are not only endangering people outside the household but you're also endangering your puppy #like seriously. if you get a big powerful breed and they're terrified of the outside world? not only are you sentencing the dog to a - #- lifetime of isolation and anxiety but if they're also reactive you're risking an attack on other people which can result in state - #- mandated euthanasia #if you get a small breed who treats everything like an enemy? just like before you're forcing a horribly isolated life on your puppy but - #- you're also risking THEM getting hurt or attacked. if they get off leash and go after a car they risk getting hit. if they go after a - #- bigger dog they risk getting bitten. if they go after a person they risk getting kicked or hit and they're also still a bite risk and - #- euthanasia can still be enforced. #you can't just go “whoops! sorry! princess is just a little feisty haha” when your dog is an absolute terror in public #by getting a dog you have an obligation to both the dog and the people around you to make sure they're not a public safety hazard #and if you can't do that? pick another pet. there are lots of options out there that aren't dogs.
