Tanjirou was used to a routine when he returned home from work. He would open the door to his cat greeting him with a meow, followed by his girlfriend meeting him in the genkan with a kiss and a murmured, "Okaeri." That was the signal for the burdens of the day to disappear from his shoulders.
However, there was a shift in routine when he called out "Tadaima!" and was met with silence after the customary greeting by Shirogane.
He blinked, taking in the quiet living room. The lights were on, which meant that Ayame was home from work, but she wasn't heading over to greet him. The kitchen was empty as well; no clanging of pots and pans as Ayame wrestled with the temperamental stove that they kept saying they would replace.
Tanjirou put away his coat, stepping into his house slippers with a concerned sound. Shirogane wound around his legs before sauntering off to do what he did best - napping in the early evening sunlight until it was dinnertime.
"Ayame?" he called out.
There was a thump, then sounds from their bedroom. Ayame appeared, her bun half-unravelled, the loosened curls sitting on one shoulder.
"Tanjirou, you're home! I didn't hear you," she said apologetically, leaning up to press a distracted kiss to his lips. "Okaeri."
His hands settled on her hips before she could draw away. The corners of her lips twitched, her hands resting on his shoulder in return.
"What's wrong?" he asked, thumbs rubbing circles against the worn fabric of her t-shirt. He recognised it; it was his old baseball jersey from high school. "Did something happen at work today, love?"
"No - well, yes," she admitted at Tanjirou's eyebrow raise, "but that's not the point."
"No?"
"I've been looking for my hoodie - "
"My hoodie, you mean."
"Our hoodie," she retorted. "Don't be selfish, Tanjirou."
Tanjirou couldn't help the grin that helplessly tugged at his lips. He shouldn't have been so happy; Ayame had just confessed to having a bad day at work, although it was obvious enough when he saw his old baseball jersey hanging off her frame. She only ever wore it when she needed comfort and he wasn't around to provide it immediately. Her workplace was much closer than his, after all.
"Anyway," Ayame continued, playing with the hair at his nape, "I can't find it. Do you know where it is?"
He hummed, fingers locking at the small of her back so he could pull her flush against his chest. She followed easily, gravitating into his orbit without a complaint.
"Sunshine?"
"Hm?"
Tanjirou blinked his eyes open - he wasn't aware they had closed. He nuzzled the top of her head, humming once more at the familiar scent of her shampoo.
"The hoodie?" she questioned.
Right. The hoodie. It was a hoodie that was about two sizes too big on him, with a green-and-black icihimatsu pattern. He had gotten it as a birthday present from his family when he was fifteen and it had been so hilariously huge that he could still wear it even now that he was well into his adult years. From the moment he started dating Ayame, she was wearing it more often than not. He didn't mind - it looked much better on her than it ever did on him.
"I think we left it at Zenitsu's place," he said thoughtfully.
The last time she had worn it was on their double date with Zenitsu and Nezuko. They had returned to Zenitsu's apartment afterwards, and they'd had another heated games night as usual.
Ayame's expression fell. Tanjirou leaned down to kiss her frown away, helplessly charmed by the way she loved that old hoodie so much.
When they broke apart, foreheads pressed together, she murmured, "We should go get it back."
"Mn, sure." He pressed his lips to hers again, spinning her so she was walking back towards the living room. "But not right now. It's late."
"It's barely seven," she protested, although she allowed him to walk her backwards until her calves hit the sofa. "Tanjirou, the hoodie - "
"You don't need it," he assured her. "I'm here now, okay?"
"You just got back from work."
"It's fine, it's fine."
"You stink. You need a shower. You smell like sweat and sugar."
Her nose wrinkled. She was never very fond of overly sweet things, even though she was dating a pastry chef.
Tanjirou smirked. "Let go of me so I can take a shower, then."
Her arms wound around his neck, a stubborn pout on her lips. Always so contradictory, his Ayame.
"Maybe after one more kiss," Ayame said, fingers sliding into his hair. "Then you can go."
Tanjirou ducked his head down, lips meeting hers. He knew as well as she did that they never stopped at one more kiss. But hey, who was he to tell her otherwise?
He had lost count of how many kisses they'd had when the doorbell rang. He let out a groan, unwilling to move from his spot where he was draped over Ayame as she lay on the couch. He gave her a beseeching look, begging her to ignore it. Unfortunately, the doorbell rang once more, followed by a staccato knock that could only be Zenitsu.
Ayame chuckled, pressing a fleeting kiss to his cheek. "Think this is payback for all the times you interrupted him and Nezuko?" she teased.
"Probably," Tanjirou grumbled, moving so she could answer the door.
It wasn't his fault he hadn't realised Zenitsu was trying to woo Nezuko!
He rolled into the warmth Ayame left behind, finally letting his body settle into the old sofa. He only raised himself on his elbows when Ayame excitedly called out his name.
"Look!" she gasped, eyes lighting up in delight.
He smiled helplessly. "Well, would you look at that."
She was already Tanjirou's oversized hoodie, the too-long sleeves flapping about as she waved her arms. There was a pleased flush on her cheeks, and Tanjirou just felt like he was falling for her all over again. To think she would be so happy over such a small thing.
"Hope I'm not intruding," Zenitsu said - as if he cared if he did.
Tanjirou snorted. "Of course not." He gave his blonde friend a warm smile. "Thanks."
"Don't mention it." Zenitsu turned to Ayame. "Inosuke told me what happened at work today. Must've been embarrassing, ne?"
Ayame stilled. She turned her head slowly to glare at Zenitsu. "Don't."
Tanjirou sat up. His curiousity was piqued.
"What happened?"
"We don't have to talk about it," Ayame answered hurriedly. "Come on, Tanjirou - look! I have my hoodie back!"
"Our hoodie," he muttered under his breath with no small amount of amusement. "And hey, I want to know!"
"Great!" Zenitsu grinned. "Inosuke's coming over in half an hour with takeout. He saw the whole thing."
Ayame scowled. "I hate you guys."
Tanjirou laughed, beckoning her over. She begrudgingly shuffled over, still pouting even as she stood between his legs.
"You love us," he teased, pulling her down by the sleeves for one more kiss.
Her gaze softened when she pulled away. Her hands, buried in his hoodie sleeves, cupped his cheeks before she was leaning back in for another kiss. As usual, one more kiss was never enough.
"I love you," she whispered against his lips.
"Guys, seriously," Zenitsu whined, causing the couple to pull apart. "Look, I'm so happy you guys are a loving couple, but give it a break."
"I'll give you a break, alright," Ayame huffed, glaring at Zenitsu. "Break one of your bones."
Tanjirou laughed into Ayame's stomach. Fingers slipping under her hoodie and shirt, he traced I love you too onto the warm skin of her lower back. Her warm glance told him she knew that too.
18. "you're cold?" "no? it's super sunny right now-" "take my jacket anyway."
(modern!au)
Fujiko couldn't believe her luck.
It had been pouring when she left her house. The dark clouds had dominated the sky before she could blink, and a heavy downpour had dropped right onto her head. Of course, it had to be the one day she had forgotten her umbrella at home. She had to run to the station, glaring out at the deluge that had accompanied her walk.
And now...
"Unbelievable," she muttered to herself.
The sky was a bright blue, the sun shining down cheerfully. A few fluffy white clouds floated amongst the azure expanse.
The journey had only taken half an hour. How the hell?
"What happened to you?"
Fujiko turned at the sound of her friend's voice. Michikatsu was looking down at her still-damp clothes, utterly puzzled.
"It rained when I left the house," she sighed, shaking her head. "I guess the wind blew the storm away from here."
A brisk wind blew past, causing a shiver to wrack through her body. She had thought it was bad in the air-conditioned depths of the train, but even with the sun's warmth beating down on her, her drenched clothes were keeping the cold locked close to her skin.
Yoriichi caught sight of her and immediately coughed.
"You're cold?" he asked, already removing his jacket.
"No?" Fujiko lied. At Yoriichi's bland look, she added, "It's super sunny right now - "
"Take my jacket anyway."
His jacket was shoved into her arms.
Fujiko blinked. She didn't think Yoriichi had ever acted so insistent before.
"Yoriichi, I'll get it wet," she protested, trying to return it to him.
He glanced down at her, then immediately averted his gaze.
"It - It's fine," he insisted. "Just take it - put it on. Please."
"But why?"
Yoriichi winced. "Don't... ask. Just - please."
"I don't understand - "
"Your bra is showing," Michikatsu interjected flatly. "Fujiko, please."
Oh.
... Oh!
It was the middle of summer, so her pale pink blouse was made of a thin material to keep her cool. She hadn't expected the sudden summer rain, and...
Her cheeks heated up.
"That explains why everyone was staring at me," she said weakly. "I'm going to crawl into a hole and hide forever."
Yoriichi laughed quietly, glancing at her as she buried her face in his jacket. "Don't do that. Just put on my jacket and it'll be fine."
Bemoaning her own idiocy, she pulled her hands through the sleeves and zipped it up halfway. The long sleeves fell over her fingers. A warm and spiced scent tickled her nose - the scent of Yoriichi's cologne.
Fujiko sighed. "I look ridiculous."
"It's fine," Yoriichi assured her. "We're going to see a movie anyway."
She peered up at him. "Won't you be cold?"
He shook his head.
With a smirk, Michikatsu muttered, "You guys can always share body heat."
Fujiko reached over to punch him in the arm in outrage. Yoriichi merely reddened and ducked his head.
"Don't joke around like that," she hissed, wishing her ears didn't feel so hot.
Michikatsu gave her a bland look. She didn't know why he was so insistent that Yoriichi had feelings for her. That was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard in her life. Everyone knew that he was in love with Uta - Michikatsu better than anyone.
"Where's Keichirou-kun?" Yoriichi asked, stepping between Fujiko and his brother before their bickering could escalate.
Fujiko slipped her hands into Yoriichi's jacket pockets, warming her cold hands. "He's waiting for us at the movie theatre."
"Better get a move on, then," said Michikatsu, lengthening his strides.
Fujiko let out an annoyed sound in the back of her throat; he knew she couldn't keep up with him like that!
Thankfully, Yoriichi remained by her side instead of leaving her in the dust. He was silent, which wasn't a strange occurrence, except that this silence felt like he was holding something back.
Fujiko smiled warmly. "Well, Yoriichi? You can say whatever is on your mind."
Yoriichi glanced at her, only to have his gaze skitter away.
"... It looks good on you," he confessed quietly.
"Hm?"
"The jacket. It looks better on you than it does on me."
There was a quiet confession in his voice. Fujiko thought that maybe it was possible Yoriichi might see her as more than a friend.
Maybe.

(Demon Slayer Characters x Little sister reader) You get seriously injured)
Tumblr media
Tanjiro
Tanjiro was hesitant about you being part of the demon slayer corpse in the first place
You and Nezuko were the only family he had left and he couldn't stand the thought of losing either of you
However you insisted on joining the corpse alongside him, so he relented
It made him feel a little better knowing he would be with you to keep an eye on you
And at first, things went well
Until you both went up against Rui
The fight was brutal and Tanjiro was doing his best to keep you out of harm's way
To his horror, though, you were caught in one of the demon's attacks, leaving you with a pretty nasty wound
Tanjiro instantly started blaming himself, seeing you in so much pain
You both end up winning against the Lower Moon and being taken for treatment
Finally, you both get to see each other again Tanjiro apologizes for you getting hurt
Of course, you don't blame him
You're just happy that he's ok
Zenitsu
Zenitsu always felt bad that you were keeping an eye on him so he wouldn't get hurt
He was your older brother, he felt as if he was supposed to be the one keeping you safe
Luckily, you hadn't sustained any serious injuries during your time as a demon slayer
That is until you came in contact with a particularly strong demon
Zenitsu wanted to stand next to you and fight, but he was just too scared
So once again, you stepped up, showing no fear
You faced the demon head on, until the monster turned his attention to your brother
You panicked when you noticed this
You quickly took action, taking the hit for him
Zenitsu watched with wide eyes as you were injured getting knocked to the ground, bleeding
Zenitsu got so panicked that he ended up passing out, killing the demon himself
When he woke up and saw you patching yourself up, he started crying
He begged you to forgive him for causing you to get hurt on his behalf
Of course, you didn't blame him
Inosuke
Inosuke is confident that he can keep you safe
He's been doing it for years now, so he doesn't think anything bad could happen
However, he didn't expect a demon to attack out of nowhere
Neither of you were prepared, and being caught off guard you felt the demon's claws dig into your shoulder
Seeing this, Inosuke was pissed
He took care of the demon as fast as he could before running over to you
He yells at you to stay awake, doing what he can to patch up you injury
You do end up passing out from blood loss, which worries your brother
He waits until you wake up, and then yells at you for worrying him
Deep down, you know he cares

Things that ran through my mind while watching this episode: --Ufotable says "jump" and FujiTV says "how high?" Likewise, they say "we want more run time" and FujiTV says "take it, it's yours." It seems odd that an episode in which the battle is already over would require extra run time, but I think a lot of the magic in of the KnY anime adaptation (particularly since Mugen Ressha) is that Ufotable lets the emotional scenes really open up and take the space they need to, uh... breathe.
--That means giving the voice actors lots of space on the emotional scenes to build up realistic crying and give pauses. Daki's crying always hits me hardest, but Gyutaro's narration and the way he talks to the samurai he kills, also excellent. And then you have Inosuke at the very end of the episode being Not Okay. --Suma, you are a treasure
--Backing up a bit, I love how Ufotable also reads being the panels. Like that "you saved me, Nezuko?" sure as help can mean "you eliminated the last of an Upper Moon's attack with her fire?" why not. And it is such Kimetsu Logic to not tell us Nezuko can eliminate demon poison until after she's saved the night, but it also makes perfect sense.
--After all the sting of losing Rengoku, losing Uzui was dangled in front of us, and the fact that we get to keep him makes this victory over an Upper Moon all the more victorious and sweet. Oyakata-sama's moment of feel on emotion at the end of the episode, a very different state than we've ever seen him, really shows how momentous this is too.
--But also, if he had died there, it truly would have been one of the most horrific deaths of the series, because he'd have done so with the very flamboyant knowledge of having missed his chance to say any last words because his wives were being so themselves. And he is just there just feeling numbness take over his tongue, knowing he lost his chance. I love that look on his face as it hits him that this is really how he's stuck going, and the rocks hitting is still peak comedy.
--I mentioned in the last episode just how fast this whole battle was, and I think this provides very interesting insight about Iguro in a couple ways. First, there is the possibility that a crow went seeking Iguro's help the moment it say a Corp member fighting an Upper Moon (Tanjiro fighting Daki, who could still be mistaken for an Upper Moon at the time), but the crow still needed time to get to wherever Iguro was. Iguro probably started running as soon as he heard, but the battle really was over too fast for him to help. The other possibility is that as soon as Uzui told Tanjiro and Inosuke to leave, he reached out to Iguro for help, which would imply both A) humility and B) perhaps aside from proximity, he chose Iguro as the best choice of a Pillar to help him with this mission, whether based on the merits of Snake Breath or his trust in Iguro. Either way, Iguro already knew Tanjiro was involved--perhaps Uzui mentioned it (in which case, Iguro would had thought Tanjiro left as ordered), or the crow specifically told him, "Kamado Tanjiro is going head to head against an Upper Moon," in which case he of course assumed Tanjiro was already dead.
--This is actually a great moment of characterization for Iguro, who sees no personal value in living except to fight demons, as he does not seem himself deserving of love. That gives him no way to understand how Uzui would dare to prioritize a loving married life.
--Of course, the course of this episode is the Shabana sibling back story, and I think it's one of the demon backstories with layers of irony most seamlessly worked into the events of the plot. Besides the Kamado sibling foil, you've got Gyutaro calling Tanjiro names, Daki telling Zenitsu that only the beautiful have power, Daki getting set on fire by Nezuko, Daki offering to pluck out and eat Tanjiro's left eye and having Gyutaro's left eye on her forehead, snow on the night they became demons and snow on the night of the promise they are strongest together, memories of snow while facing the fires of hell, choosing the darkness over the light, Gyutaro starting with a horrid existence by finding Ume's birth changed all that and his outlook totally improved, and just when he thinks things are going to really get better they get horrifically worse, and he changes his tune to saying that never had anything good in the first place and no matter how many times he's reborn he'll always rue those who had things good for them. Ume was the good change in his fortune. That makes it hurt all the more when he yells at her that his life would had been easier without her, and that this rejection continues into the afterlife when he tries to cut ties for her own sake.

heyy ,i have a request. You dont have to do it if you dont want to , i was just wondering if you could do kny main three reacting to you taking care of them when they're sick, and you both live together so its domestic stuff❤️
Hey Anon! of course I can! I also love reverse comfort! I also included some (Most) of the Hashira!
Gender Neutral Reader (I tried)
Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, Giyuu Tomioka, Kyojuro Rengoku, Tengen Uzui, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Mitsuri Kanroji
Split into 2 parts
SORRY THAT IT TOOK SO LONG!!! 😖😖😖
this is Part 1
TANJIRO KAMADO
Tanjiro had just gotten back from a mission up in the cold snow capped mountains.
He was so pale and so cold.
You already had made Kelp Rice Balls for him for dinner but Soba looked more better for him.
You instantly had Tanjiro go to bed, Much to his dismay.
He wanted to cuddle you, love you!
But you flatly refused!
Poor boy...
"darling- I just want to hold you please?" Tanjiro whined. You looked over and saw him trying to get off of the shikibuton. "Tanjiro- please, you need to rest! you are too cold!" You said. He reached to grab you, but he fell weak on the ground. A horrible cough left his throat. "Tanjiro!" you went straight to his side. "Can I hold you now please?" he weakly asked. "after you eat your soba, I don't care if I have to feed you myself" You said sternly, he smiled, "alright"
ZENITSU AGATSUMA
let me tell you.
if this boy woke up with food poisoning (mostly because of Inosuke) he'd beg you for attention, love and care.
but if he returned back from a mission deathly cold and shivering his ass off...
he'd still beg for attention, love and care.
this man BEGS for TLC, and if he's sick? the whining is SOOOOOO much worse.
he'll accept all your lectures about: How to avoid Inosuke's horrible cooking
or: how to put more damn clothes on to avoid getting a cold!
"gorgeous! please! I need your love!" He begged. "NO! you need to learn how to not- get off of me! I'm trying to be mean!" you groaned as he gripped onto you tightly. "You cant be mean to me! I didn't mean too I promise!" he cried. You groaned as he gripped onto you tighter. "Please! I promise I wont do it again! I'm sorry! please just comfort me!" he sobbed loudly. you finally gave in and comforted him for the rest of the night and the next day.
INOSUKE HASHIBIRA
this boy REFUSED to admit he was unwell until he ended up being put in Shinobu's medical wing.
he refused to allow you to see his face.
the Boar head stayed on.
It took Shinobu threatening him to let him show you his face.
and oh dear- he wasn't sick.
he was stabbed.
he had time to move his organs around.
which was the only good thing.
"Inosuke- you need to look after yourself more!" you said with teary eyes. "I'm totally fine!" he said, he coughed and blood splattered all over the white sheets. "INOSUKE!" you exclaimed. "I'm fine! stop yelling in my ear ok?! I need to recover! that's what bug eyes said!" You gripped his hand "I thought I would lose you" You sobbed. he weakly held you hand. "I'll be ok, Bug Eyes said I'll recover soon and be home soon- I'll be home soon" he whispered.
GIYUU TOMIOKA
THIS MAN! HE REFUSES TO BE SICK! HE REFUSES ATTENTION! HE REFUSES EVERYTHING!!!
which frustrates you beyond belief!
he wont even take a stern talking to!
but after pushing you off to the side and being alone for an HOUR
he came up to you begging for cuddles.
poor boy loves your love and wont stop till he gets it!
and even then he still wants more.
"Giyuu? can you loosen your hold? please?" you mutter, trying desperately not to make his head ache worse. he only gave you a small whine in response before loosening his grip slightly. he didn't open his eyes, still trying desperately to fall asleep. you slowly rubbed his back in soothing circles. Giyuu hummed contently. "sweetie?" he grumbled, you looked down at him, but he was already sound asleep.
PART 2 SOON!!!

Exotica 6 | It's Contagious
Tumblr media
The time was inching closer and the weight of your reality hung on your shoulders like a foreboding omen
Since Inosuke’s arrival, you have discovered many things about yourself
Briefly of how you came to be here, what your purpose was
As painful as it had been to find out you had answers
Answers that gave you a mission during the battle
Of course, saving as many as you could
But confronting him in a battle of your own
Nonetheless, the weight of your coming battle brought a cloud of anxiety over you
Something everyone seemed privy to as you switched homes once again:
“Exotica-sama seems so down lately.”
“I agree, maybe it's all the girls committing ashinuke.”
“I hope not! They shouldn’t cry over those cowards.”
Zenitsu couldn’t hear the end of it. Constant chatter and gossip surrounding Oiran Warabahime and Exotica, the latter being the most positive. It all made for good information to report on but it made the fearful demon slayer’s stomach clench with foreboding.
It was eased for a moment when he caught Exotica’s gaze landing on him. The moment was so magical, he cursed the sound Hashira for such a crippling disguise. As ‘Zenko’ all he could do was stay silent as the girls woefully spoke on his behalf.
“As you can see…she’s quite the looker…right?”
“No no, Exotica-sama said we couldn’t be so insulting! Its bad manners!”
“Well, what am I supposed to say?”
Sat in the official temporary quarters of Exotica’s Zenko was being officially introduced. Having previously been scoffed at by the Oiran he was prepared to hear the same from the dark beauty that the Yukaku District seemed to praise. To say he was taken with you, would be inaccurate he was obsessed. Even the sound of your steps brought a sweltering heat on his body and blood rushed to all parts of his body with unhealthy excitement. Which proved inconvenient at some points+
“Forget that! Exotica-sama, we wanted to show you Zenko’s one redeeming quality. We thought she’d be perfect…and maybe make you happy.”
“...yes, go ahead then.”
Dazzling beauty aside he could only explain it as his intuition for gorgeousness but it seemed like you were in a haze. Shrouded eyes clouded with something intense; a burden you couldn’t divulge no matter who came to you. He noted the yearning in everyone, especially the suspicious Warabihime whose mood seemed to sour when you listlessly regarded her.
Shamisen in hand he began to strum, playing a tune he didn’t know. It felt as though he heard somewhere before. It overtook his fingers and the chords of his throat, humming an upbeat song.
You lifted your head as the familiar song graced your ears. A musical beacon in a fog of doubt, playing just for you. You took off your hat as quietly as you could setting it besides yourself as you finally registered what was happening. The Zenitsu Agamatsu, the demon slayer was dressed up like a girl and playing for you. You were in a world where humans took on demons and won! What was a deity to a human with overwhelming knowledge about the world you were in? What was the mere power of the sun in the dark of night against the power of the moon? This wasn’t reality, this was the world crafted from the imagination of Koyoharu Gotouge and it should be a given that you as the underdog should have the upper hand.
You raised your hand to pull away your dampened veil, using it to give a tentative wipe to your eyes as you keep your eyes on him. His eyes were closed focused on bringing the song to its end he missed your reveal and the shock it garnered from the girls around him. When he finally did let himself look up. Eyes clear and smiling, he beholds the true beauty of Exotica and he couldn’t be more inclined to protect you and your smile.
“Thank you, Zenko. I needed that.”
He bowed if only to hide the blush shining through his makeup, following the lead of the girls who were gleefully bowing as well. You continued to smile closing your eyes to relish in your returned confidence.
Rendering all of you oblivious to the infuriated Oiran standing at the door.

The Phone
Plot Description: What if the Kamaboko squad learnt about the fanfiction we write about them?
Fandom: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Gender: Female
Warnings: Sexual themes and mentions but nothing drastic.
Notes: Feedback is welcomed and I hope you have a good time reading!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Of course you’re lovable!” I cried, squishing Zenitsu’s cheeks between my hands as he whined again about being ugly and horrible, which made my heart ache, “All of you are. Why would you think anything different?” Tanjiro flushed at this, but it was Zenitsu I was still focused on.
“Look at me, (Y/N)-chan!” Zenitsu cried, making me deflate and pout.
“In my world you’re all very popular!” Zenitsu looked at me in disbelief and I knew I had a trump card here. Grinning, I watched as the cogs turned in his brain before he finally uttered a small, “Prove it!”
“Here look at my phone!” I chimed, producing the magical artefact with a small, “Ta-dah!” before waving it gently. Of course, the trio looked over at the device dumbly and with little amazement, much to my dismay.
The fact that even Inosuke wasn’t amused put quite the damper on my little surprise and I was disappointed until they finally asked what it was. However, when Tanrjio went to poke it I slapped his finger away with a small glower.
“It’s a small device we used for all sorts of everyday things, including communication!” I hummed, turning the thing on and swiping around to get the right app as the three peered over my shoulders, ooing when it lit up and mesmerised, making up for that disappointment from earlier, “I come from a different time period so you won’t see these anywhere but somehow mine survived.
“Look at all the stories I saved for my friend.” I concluded slowly. Of course Zenitsu looked at me with a raised, unamused brow as he nodded sarcastically as Tanjiro raised a brow.
“Uh huh. Very convincing.”
“Lies.” I shushed him, pressing my hand to his face and earning a glare and a slapped hand. I pouted, but he immediately focused on the device as his brows furrowed and twitched spastically when Tanjiro announced how many for each person there were as he gently and carefully scrolled down the screen as I had done earlier.
“WHY ARE THERE SO MANY WITH INOSUKE!?” he cried, making me flush.
“SHE REALLY LIKED HIM I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT FROM ME!”
Inosuke, on the other hand, was having a blast at the news.
“THE DEVICE LOVES ME! MWHAHAHA!” he cackled, pinching the device from me.
“Inosuke!” Tanjiro groaned, “Give her that back- don’t break it!” As if I felt my heart stop, I turned my head to glare at him slowly before immediately tackling him, catching at least Tanjiro and Zenitsu off guard.
“If you break this thing I will. end. You.”
“(Y/N) please don’t kill him…” Tanjiro sighed as Zenitsu shrunk back.
“Scary!”
Successfully taking back control over the phone as I had a writhing Inosuke beneath me, I grabbed Inosuke’s neck and held the phone up, triumphant, especially when I realised the phone was fine. However, things quickly took a turn for the worst as Zenitsu snickered down at me, “You’ve been waiting for this moment, haven’t you, Ai-chan!
“That’s why there’s so many stories about Inosuke! You dominatrix!”
I cringed. I cringed openly and Tanjiro seemed to look at Zenitsu with just as much cringe as I did, causing him to ask why we were looking at him like that.
“You want sin?” I cackled, getting off of a fed up Inosuke, who I knew would gain control back if I didn’t get off him soon, “Let me show you the sin of my people!”
"What?" Zenitsu and Tanjiro gaped as I casually got down to business and looked up some spicy content on tumblr.
"Why is it sinful?" Inosuke begged cluelessly as Zenitsu flushed. I laughed at this, angering the great beast into potentially fighting me.
"DON'T LAUGH AT LORD INOSUKE, UNDERLING!" However I waved him away, ignoring and confusing him long enough that Tanjiro was able to put a hand on his shoulder and remind him that I can’t fight him all whilst I absentmindedly scrolled for the right fanfiction.
“Why not?!” he huffed, “She was fine earlier!”
“That was when she was upset at you!” Tanjiro argued back. Inosuke huffed.
“Well I’ll make her upset again-!”
"You'll see what I meant soon by sinful-!” I uttered into their argument, thoroughly distracting them as I beamed, “Hey, look! X readers!"
"X what?" Tanjiro muttered looking over at Zenitsu who, also clueless, shrugged.
"Could be anything." I chuckled deviously, which made the pair sweat slightly, “Though knowing (Y/N) it’s not good…”
"X readers means that the story is written to involve whomever is reading it.” I informed with my finger in the air, casually, “So instead of writing something that includes a pre-written character, it includes the reader."
"Why?" I grinned at Tanjiro's innate curiosity whilst Zenitsu seemed to look at him with a sweat drop.
"Seems stupid." Inosuke huffed. I snorted at the trio and waved them away again.
"Because maybe you want to be involved in the story. It's all about fantasy with a character or person."
"I don't like where this is going..." Zenitsu muttered as my devious grin returned and I cackled again.
"What? Don't you want to see how much you're loved and adored by the community in my world?" Zenitsu perked up at this.
"People write X readers about me?" I nodded sharply, dumbfounded by his attitude.
"Um duh, of course!" He flushed at this as Inosuke butted in, causing Zenitsu to fall to the floor, making me snort and Tanjiro glare.
"Of course they make stories about me. Look at me!"
“Shut up for once!” Zenitsu cried from the floor, causing Inosuke to huff as he looked down before kicking him in the side.
“NEVER!”
It got to the point that Tanjiro had to get involved and I sat back and watched with both amusement and bafflement at the scene. It truly was a sight to behold, and one I got the impression happened quite often.
It was only when they were relatively calm that I decided to get involved.
"So who's name should I look up first?”
"Me!" Inosuke and Zenitsu both cried making me sweat drop.
"Tanjiro it is!"
"Eh?!" He blushed, "Why me?" I grinned.
"Yeah why him?!" Inosuke growled. I merely snorted at this.
"Hey you both volunteered leaving only one person left. I need one person. Ergo I chose who was left. Had it been only one of you I'd have gone with them instead."
“You always ruin things!” Inosuke snapped at Zenitsu, who glared back.
“Me?!” before the pair could get into it again Tanjiro intervened.
“Let’s calm down, guys!” he sighed, “No hard feelings…”
“There are definitely hard feelings…” I noted as the pair’s glare intensified. However I knew the best way to break them up - some spice.
"Well according to some members of the community Tanjiro is, and I quote, 'is an absolute dom'"
"Eh?!" As if on cue the trio forgot all about the argument and their attention was back on me and my phone, enough that when I looked up I couldn’t help but laugh at their gaped expressions.
"Ohhhh specifically a 'pleasure dom'." I noted as I read further, "I can see that." I hummed in thought as Tanjiro was about ready to pass out.
"A what?" Inosuke begged with a blink as Zenitsu frowned, having already recovered.
"What does that even mean?" I frowned in thought for a moment as I attempted to coin an explanation.
"It means they're in control about pleasuring someone and that that is their main, uh, thing. They want to pleasure you until you no longer can handle it and they’re at the helm.
“A pleasure Dom, meaning dominant. Requires some experience I’d imagine, if you, uh, catch my drift.” I wiggled my eyebrows, knowing it was unnecessary but couldn’t help myself.
“NO WAY!” Zenitsu cried, “I MEAN NO OFFENCE BUT THE ONLY GIRLS HE’S SEEN IN HIS LIFE ARE HIS SISTERS AND MOTHER!” I snorted as Zenitsu had a panic attack, “WHERE DO THESE THINGS COME FROM?!” I sighed and rolled my eyes.
“A) it's a fantasy and B) you guys are aged up in these.”
“Why?” Tanjiro begged, “Isn’t the age of consent 13?” I blinked at this a few times before sighing, facepalming gently.
“...Tanjiro, you're still a small bean.” he pouted at this, making Zenitsu laugh.
“SEE?! NO WAY HE’S BEEN WITH LOTS OF WOMEN IF THIS IS HOW YOU RESPOND!” I sighed, ignoring him as Tanjiro’s pout deepened.
"Me next!" Inosuke shouted as Tanjiro attempted to collect himself, making me snort.
"Be patient!"
"No!"
"Fine you next then." I gave in making Inosuke cheer.
"Ooh ooh! I found one. You ready? 'Inosuke Hashibira was looking extra fine that day and you just couldn't help how pretty he looked.'" I snickered, "I mean that one is probably quite accurate anyway…" I concluded stoically and logically, making the pig-man flush slightly.
“SEE?!” he beamed, “I HAVE A BRILLIANT FACE!”
“YEAH YOU DO!” I cheered, giving him a high five.
Instead of getting upset, much to my surprise, Zenitsu slid over, pressing his index fingers together a small blush on his cheeks as he grinned over at me bashfully.
“Can I have one?” I couldn’t say no to that as I flushed and nodded.
“Of course…” I hummed, searching through. However I laughed loudly.
"Oh no..." Zenitsu flinched.
"'Zenitsu agatsuma has been whining since you step foot in the forest.' Ha!"
"I THOUGHT YOU SAID IT WAS ABOUT PEOPLE LOVING ME?!"

The next morning, Inosuke munched on his omelette while Tanjirou fielded awkward questions from Nezuko and Zenitsu. The deep, vertical scars below Inosuke’s nape had scabbed over and were now a dark maroon, with a slight puffiness around them. Tanjirou had tried, and failed to convince his companions that Kuro-chan had attacked Inosuke for unknown reasons.
Tanjirou wore all his emotions on his face. Everyone could tell from the grotesque facial expression he made that something was not adding up.
“Be honest, you left those scratches on him, didn’t you?” Zenitsu asked, with a mix of amusement and revulsion on his face.
Tanjirou’s infamous lying face gave way to genuine confusion. “Of course not! I wouldn’t hurt Inosuke like that. Besides, I don't keep my nails long. It'd just get in the way of cooking." He stretched out his hands for Zenitsu to inspect his short, neatly-trimmed nails.
Zenitsu couldn't find any issues with his nails, but he continued eyeing him with deep suspicion. Eventually, he snorted and said, “I believe you. But it looks like Kuro-chan must really hate Inosuke. Never heard of cats attacking people for no reason other than being provoked or for self-defence.”
“I hate the dumb cat too!” Inosuke growled.
“This is all a misunderstanding,” Tanjirou said in a gentle voice. “Animals don’t hate. They act on their survival instincts. You of all people should understand that.”
“Hmmph!” Inosuke grumbled as he scooped up a second helping of omelette onto his plate.
*
Since that last altercation with Kuro-chan, Inosuke kept his distance from the cat. He hadn’t carried out his threat of ripping off Kuro-chan’s balls. He maintained that there was no joy in scoring a win against something much smaller than him. It was absolutely not because the cat might scratch him and embarrass him in front of his favourite underling again. Not at all.
Tanjirou had stopped trying to get Inosuke and Kuro-chan to befriend each other. He explained that he couldn’t bear to see Inosuke get hurt again. Inosuke was irritated that Tanjirou thought he would lose to a cat, but also touched to know that he cared so much about him.
For a while, Kuro-chan had avoided Inosuke as well, but it soon returned to its arrogant ways, acting as if the incident had never happened. It grew bolder and developed a new and particularly annoying habit - jumping up on the dining table whenever they were eating.
This evening, Nezuko had given Kuro-chan a bowl of steamed chicken. But the cat had only taken a few bites before jumping up on the table to sniff at their bowl of tempura.
“Woah Kuro-chan, don’t do that!” Zenitsu held the cat by the scruff of its neck to prevent it from putting its nose into the bowl.
“Do you want tempura too?” Tanjirou asked. “I’ll give you one, but wait a moment while I do something. It’s too oily for you if you eat it like this.” Tanjirou fished a prawn tempura out with his chopsticks and wiggled it in front of Kuro-chan’s nose. The cat followed it to his side of the table.
"Hey, don't encourage him," Zenitsu warned. "It'll be troublesome if he jumps on the table when we have customers."
"Don't worry, he won't do that," Tanjirou reassured him. "He's scared of strangers."
Inosuke observed that Zenitsu was usually no better than Tanjirou when it came to indulging the cat. He continued to sacrifice his furniture and space whenever the cat demanded it, and claimed that it was because the cat adored his scent. But on rare occasions like this, his practical nature took over and he would prioritise their business over the cat’s needs. This was one of those few times when Inosuke agreed with Zenitsu.
“Here you go, Kuro-chan!”
To Inosuke's horror, Tanjirou had removed the crispy tempura skin, which was, in his opinion, the best part of the tempura. He gave the prawn beneath it to Kuro-chan. What a terrible waste of a good tempura!
“First, you spoil Inosuke. And now you’re spoiling Kuro-chan too? We don’t need two Inosukes in this household.”
Inosuke started at the mention of his name. How dare Zenitsu speak of him in the same vein as the cat, like they’re even comparable? And what on earth did he mean by that? Surely the only thing better than one Inosuke was two of him?
“Don’t exaggerate. Kuro-chan’s just a cat. He won’t eat much. Another one, Kuro-chan?” Tanjirou desecrated a fish tempura this time.
Inosuke did the only logical thing he could think of to stop Tanjirou from wasting anymore tempura on the dumb cat. He grabbed the entire bowl of tempura and gobbled up all its contents. Then he wiped his mouth carelessly and stuck out a tongue at the feline. He felt a sense of satisfaction as he watched Kuro-chan squint its eyes and purse its lips. Its ears moved back and its tail flicked back and forth. It was not amused.
Zenitsu was the first at the table to recover from the shock at Inosuke’s behaviour.
“Hey! What the hell! I haven’t even had any! This is all your fault, Tanjirooou!!!” Zenitsu wailed.
“That's rude, Inosuke,” Tanjirou chided. He took out a handkerchief and wiped tempura crumbs off Inosuke’s face.
“You were ruining the tempura!”
Kuro-chan gave a grumpy meow and stared at Zenitsu.
“At least you still have chicken.” Zenitsu gave a sad shrug.
“Don’t worry, I have some extra tempura in the oven,” Nezuko announced. “I’ll get us some more! None for you though, Kuro-chan. And definitely none for you, Inosuke. You just had an entire bowl, I’m not going to spoil you!” She laughed.
“Thank goodness for Nezuko-chan’s good sense!” Zenitsu cheered.
Inosuke watched longingly as the others crunched on their tempura. Zenitsu had shooed Kuro-chan back to the floor and it returned to eating its chicken. Which left Inosuke all by his lonesome with a bowl of plain rice.
“Here, have one of mine,” Tanjirou held out a tempura to him with his chopsticks. Inosuke accepted it with eagerness and devoured it.
Zenitsu shook his head and mumbled something about "two peas in a pod."
Hmm, what peas? There’s only tempura, and most of it is in his belly. Heh. If the dumb cat thought it could outwit him and steal all his favourite things, it was wrong, very wrong.
*
A few weeks passed and winter thawed, along with Inosuke’s disdain for Kuro-chan. They still weren’t friends, but they were at least able to coexist in peace without further bloodshed. After careful observation, Inosuke was satisfied that the cat posed no threat to his status as boss of the household. No matter what it did, he would always outshine it and have Tanjirou's full attention and affection.
The Wisteria Garden closed for one day each week so they could have a well-deserved rest. Today was one of those days. Despite not having to open the eatery, they still went back on these rest days to feed Kuro-chan, taking turns with Zenitsu and Nezuko.
It became even more important for them to check on Kuro-chan after they learned that wisteria was toxic to cats. They found out the hard way after Kuro-chan had diarrhoea from rolling around in a pile of wisteria petals and presumably eating some. Tanjirou had considered bringing Kuro-chan back to their house in the mountains. Inosuke angsted over how to get him to drop the idea. How was he going to do lovey-dovey things with Tanjirou at home if he had to watch his back for the cat all the time? Thankfully, they all agreed it would be stressful for Kuro-chan to move when it had settled down so well at the eatery. So they fenced off the area around the Wisteria trees to keep Kuro-chan from getting near. But they still had to sweep the garden daily to keep the ground free of wisteria petals and seeds.
Inosuke found all this an absolute hassle. Animals were supposed to have survival instincts. Especially considering that Kuro-chan had grown up in the wild and did fine before it fell into the river. But Tanjirou said that once an animal was domesticated, it wouldn’t be able to survive on its own outside. It was their responsibility to care for it for life. This was precisely why Kanao adopted all their fallen comrades' animal companions and let them roam the spacious grounds of the Butterfly Mansion.
Inosuke was appalled by the idea of spending the rest of his life with the wretched cat. He willed himself to stop thinking about it and focus on the present. After all, he was cuddling with his favourite underling on a bench in a beautiful garden where wisteria bloomed in any season, on a quiet and tranquil afternoon. Say, maybe this would be a good time to…
“Meow!”
Arrgh. And his least favourite underling had turned up, ruining the mood completely. Kuro-chan sidled up to Tanjirou and rubbed its body against his leg as usual. Then, it headbutted Inosuke hard on his shin.
“Ow! What does the dumb cat want now?” Inosuke rubbed his shin in indignation. The cat went to his other leg and headbutted him on his other shin.
“Hey!” Inosuke shook a fist at it. Tanjirou looped his arm around Inosuke’s to stop him.
“When cats headbutt, it’s an act of affection. Kuro-chan must want your attention because you’ve been ignoring him. Cats have excellent memories and he has always been grateful that you saved his life, Inosuke!”
Kuro-chan continued to press its head against his knee. The cat's head movements were persistent, as if it was determined to get Inosuke's attention. Even through the fabric of his pants, Inosuke could feel the heat from the cat’s soft, furry body. He was surprised to find it pleasant and soothing, and a warm and fuzzy sensation soon spread through his body. He felt his previous anger and resentment at the cat melting away. He could sort of understand why his friends were fascinated by it. The cat was kind of cute.
"You can give him some chin scratches! He looks like he wants some!" Tanjirou suggested as he watched Kuro-chan rub its chin against Inosuke's leg.
"Nah. I'll let the silly cat grovel at my feet as punishment." The cat had been a rude little shit. If he forgave it so easily, how could he keep his underlings in line?
Tanjirou laughed. "Cats won't do that. They're too proud. Besides, look at his sweet little face. Can you bear to ignore him?"
As if to prove Tanjirou right, Kuro-chan promptly went over to Tanjirou and nuzzled its head against his knee. Inosuke felt a twinge of annoyance at the sudden loss of warmth and weight against his own leg.
Tanjirou bent over to scratch Kuro-chan's chin. "Are you unhappy that Inosuke's ignoring you? That's okay, I'll give you all the scritches you want,” he said in a sing-song voice that he usually reserved for interacting with very young children.
In a sudden movement, Kuro-chan leapt onto Tanjirou’s lap. This was apparently a new development, because Tanjirou let out an uncharacteristic squeal of joy. “Did you see that, Inosuke! He jumped on my lap!”
Tanjirou began to give the cat harder scritches around its ears, his eyes crinkling with delight as he called it a “good boy”. The cat purred and nuzzled Tanjirou’s chest, basking in the attention. Inosuke took a deep breath and shut his eyes, resisting the urge to scream and wring the furry little neck. The cat would eventually have enough and leave on its own accord, he reminded himself. There's no need to blow up and get into a brawl with the cat.
It’s not like he was afraid of getting scratched, really. He’s tough and strong and the stupid cat’s tiny claws would never do any meaningful damage to him. But Tanjirou was always so uptight about his injuries, no matter how insignificant they were. As a good boss, he mustn’t make his favourite underling worry about him.
Several torturous minutes passed, and Inosuke could still sense the cat's presence next to him. Why was it taking so long? He opened his eyes. The cat had settled down in Tanjirou's lap, its eyes closed, its little head leaning against Tanjirou's chest, and its neck vibrating with purrs.
Noticing Inosuke's gaze, Tanjirou held up a finger to his own lips. “He’s asleep. Let’s not wake him up,” he whispered. Inosuke felt his frustration building again. Kuro-chan took long naps. Surely Tanjirou wasn’t planning to sit here for as long as it stayed asleep? Even without attacking him, the cat was ruining their date. He briefly considered ignoring Tanjirou’s request. But the side of him that wanted to prove himself as the best boss and boyfriend won over, and he held his tongue and nodded stiffly.
“Thank you, Inosuke,” Tanjirou whispered. He placed a hand on Inosuke's head and ruffled his hair. Inosuke felt a surge of warmth and contentment from the head pet, like he could float away with happiness. He had the sudden urge to get up and run as fast as he could to expend that sugar rush.
“Going for a run,” Inosuke gestured. Tanjirou nodded with an encouraging smile.
With a level of stealth he didn't usually use, he darted off until he was sure he was out of earshot. Then, letting out a roar, he ran wild, charging around like a wild boar. He relished the sensation of the wind rushing past him and his feet pounding hard on the ground. And above all, he left his resentment and annoyance in the snowy trail of footsteps behind him.
*
Inosuke was in high spirits when he returned. Even Kuro-chan looked positively cute, curled up and still sound asleep in Tanjirou’s lap. Tanjirou sat still as a statue, as if he feared that the slightest movement would disturb the sleeping cat. Inosuke felt a strong urge to tease or tickle him. But as he leaned in closer, he realized that Tanjirou was nodding off, and his head was drooping to the side. Without hesitation, Inosuke sat down next to Tanjirou, who dozed off on his shoulder.
Tanjirou must be so exhausted to be able to fall asleep while sitting upright, Inosuke thought. He always worked so hard, but he remained cheerful and upbeat, unlike Zenitsu, or even himself. Inosuke couldn’t help but secretly admire his lover once again. It was difficult to resist the urge to fidget, but he didn't want to wake Tanjirou up. So, he tried to stay focused while practicing Total Concentration Breathing. Before long, his eyelids felt heavy, and he too was lulled to sleep by the soothing melody of Kuro-chan’s purring merged with Tanjirou’s calming, even breathing.
A movement beside him jolted him awake. He opened his eyes to find that he was resting against Tanjirou’s shoulder. Some time must have passed because the sky was darker than he last remembered. He heard Tanjirou’s voice, tinged with a slight panic.
“Don’t, Kuro-chan! You’ll be in trouble if you swallow it.”
Kuro-chan had one of Tanjirou’s shirt buttons between its teeth and it was tugging at it. Tanjirou had a hand on its scruff and another hand on its head, trying to push it away.
Inosuke couldn't believe it. He’d let down his guard and fallen asleep. And the wretched cat had taken advantage of this opportunity to make a move on his favourite underling! A surge of fury rose within him. Undoing Tanjirou’s shirt buttons is his privilege!
“Stupid animal, I'll show you who's boss!”
Inosuke grabbed Tanjirou and pulled him into his own lap, hugging him possessively. The sudden movement startled Kuro-chan. It hissed and leapt off, its fur standing on end and its tail bushy. Tanjirou let out a gasp of surprise. He held out his arm, wincing slightly.
Inosuke's heart raced as he saw the ripped sleeve of Tanjirou's shirt. There was a slight tinge of red against the jagged edges of the fabric. The cat had scratched Tanjirou. Why did it do that? Didn't Nezuko say that Tanjirou was its favourite human?
“Don’t worry, Inosuke, the scratches are shallow. I just have to wash it.” Tanjirou climbed out of his lap and got to his feet.
“Stay put!” Inosuke commanded as he jumped to his feet. “Sit down and don’t move! I’ll be back soon!”
“I didn’t injure my legs!” Inosuke heard Tanjirou call out to him. But he was already running as fast as his legs could carry him to retrieve the first-aid kit.
*
When Inosuke returned, Tanjirou had removed his haori and rolled up his shirt sleeve, exposing the injury. With two layers of fabric as protective shields, the scratches were nowhere as severe as any that Inosuke had ever sustained. But his heart ached more for Tanjirou than for himself, especially knowing that he was partly responsible for it. Tanjirou thanked him for bringing the first aid kit, and proceeded to tend to the scratches. Inosuke wished he could help. But he was clumsy and rough and would cause him more pain, so he sat awkwardly beside him, wishing that he could be more useful.
Tanjirou disinfected the scratches and patted the wound dry. He decided not to bandage it as the bleeding had stopped and there wasn't much of an open wound. The skin around the scratches was pink and swollen. Inosuke knew, from personal experience, that it would take a few days for the swelling to go down.
“See, almost as good as new,” Tanjirou said as he smiled at Inosuke. “Your scratches were much worse than mine and they recovered quickly enough. Mine will be gone in a day or two.”
Inosuke tried to apologise. But that was a feat that made him tongue-tied. Instead, he blurted out, “I’ll pluck off all that stupid cat’s fur and turn it into cat soup!”
Tanjirou knitted his brows. “Please don’t do that. He was just scared. I’m fine, this is nothing.”
“That’s still no excuse to hurt you!” Inosuke said.
“He didn’t do it on purpose,” Tanjirou said. “He didn’t know any other way of defending himself. We are strong, so it’s our responsibility to care for the weak and vulnerable. That’s why you saved Kuro-chan in the first place, isn’t it? And that’s why we tried so hard to save him, because you brought him home.”
Oh. It all made sense now, the way they tried so hard to save it, Tanjirou asking him to name it, and then trying to help them to bond. All because they thought he wanted the cat.
It was his fault. There was no denying it. He had brought the wretched cat home. On several occasions, he tried to analyse his motivations for doing such a dumb and senseless thing. In the wild, animals rarely invited strange animals back to their territory. Those who were not part of the pack were deemed as threats and competitors. But Inosuke never imagined that a small cat could pose a threat. It had looked so tiny, helpless, alone and cold, shivering from head to toe and mewling pitifully when he pulled it out of the river.
That's right. He must have brought the cat home out of pity. He knew the pains of growing up as an orphan and he sympathised with the little runt. At least he had his boar mum and family.
Inosuke was never one to dwell on things like motivations and reasons. He liked doing whatever felt good to him, and his senses were usually right. But Kuro-chan had been such a huge source of annoyance that he wondered if his senses were broken that fateful day. Why did such a small creature turn out to be so difficult? As if hurting him wasn’t enough, it had now gone on to hurt his favourite person in the world.
“Inosuke, don’t regret what you did," Tanjirou said in a gentle voice, as though he had read Inosuke's mind. "We are all proud of you for rescuing Kuro-chan and bringing him into our home. He’s a bright spark and we like having him around. But you, Inosuke, are the shining star in our lives. You mean everything to us, especially to me. How could I prefer a cat over you? There is simply no comparison.”
Inosuke felt engulfed in warm and fuzzy feelings, as though he was being wrapped in a blanket on that winter afternoon. He also felt silly and guilty for letting his recklessness get the better of him again. Tanjirou valued him more than his own life. He knew that since that time Tanjirou took a stab for him from that sneaky train conductor. And here he was, vying with a cat for his attention, and hurting him in the process. The scratch wounds must still sting. Yet Tanjirou was ignoring his own discomfort and doing his best to console him.
“Isn’t there anything I can do for your injury?” he asked, staring at his own feet.
“Hmm… you can kiss it better.”
“Huh?” Inosuke jerked his head up. He had never heard about wounds being kissed better. Licked, maybe, but kiss? He gingerly lifted Tanjirou’s arm and examined the scratches, unsure of how to proceed.
“No, silly, kiss here.” Tanjirou pointed at his own mouth.
“Oh! Of course, I can kiss you better!” Inosuke said, cheering up. “I’ll kiss you so good you’ll forget all the pain! You can count on me for that!”
I know,” Tanjirou beamed, his eyes twinkling with affection.
Inosuke was about to lean in and kiss him, but a thought sprang to his mind.
“Wait!” He ran to the middle of the garden and scanned the area for potential disruptors with his “Spatial Awareness” breathing technique. Satisfied with his findings, he ran back to Tanjirou. “Nobody and no cat around!”
He grabbed Tanjirou’s hand and pulled him behind a broad tree trunk, pressing him up against the rough bark. Tanjirou gave him a bashful smile, but didn’t resist him. He wrapped his arms around Inosuke’s neck and pulled him in for a passionate kiss.
*
The next day, Inosuke sat cross-legged on the floor beside Kuro-chan, deboning a fish. He placed the fish meat inside Kuro-chan’s food bowl and said, “You’re weak and vulnerable. That’s why someone strong like me has to look after you. But if you hurt Tanjirou again, I’ll debone you like this fish.”
Kuro-chan didn’t seem bothered by the supposed insult or threat. He lapped up his tribute from his new human servant.

Author's Notes: Thanks for reading! I really relished this opportunity to write about my favourite ship and my favourite subject - cats. I hope I managed to convey the realities of interacting with cats, especially ferals/strays. These animals lead rough lives in the harsh outdoors and can be defensive and suspicious for the sake of self-preservation. But if treated with kindness, they can become loyal and loving companions. This theme is very reminiscent of Inosuke's upbringing, so I felt it was fitting to incorporate it into his POV. Kuro-chan biting Tanjirou's buttons was inspired by my own cat biting the buttons on my clothes. Cats love small, dangly protruding things and my clothes have lace and buttons which my cat likes to play with when sitting on my lap. It's dangerous for them to swallow any sort of foreign object though, so they should never be allowed unsupervised near these ingestible things. And yes, Wisteria is poisonous to cats and dogs. I only just found this out. Yay! Fanfic is such a productive hobby that expands one's horizons :D Also, cue panic while I attempt damage control right before I upload the chapter. I tried to write this as realistically as I could with the era in mind. In the 1910-1920s, the concept of pets as family was probably an alien concept. But I believe Tanjirou and fam would treat a cat with as much kindness as they could. I hope my little story serves as a reminder to everyone to be kind to animals, especially homeless animals, and to be more patient and understanding if they act out. A shout-out of respect to everyone who opens their homes or hearts to rescue animals and strays! It is never easy, but it is extremely rewarding! Tanjirou might think the same about Inosuke ;).
Thank you for reading! If you enjoyed my fic, it’d really make my day if you could drop a like, reblog, and/or comment to let me know! This story is also published on AO3 where you can comment anonymously! Although I mostly write for myself, your encouragement keeps me motivated to post and share my work.

Tanzen Headcanons For My Half-Demon! Tanjiro AU!
Tumblr media
(In this AU, Tanjiro and Zenitsu start dating and I want to elaborate on their relationship!)
First, let’s start with how they realized they had feelings for each other!
When Tanjiro went missing (to overcome Muzan’s control), Zenitsu couldn’t handle the grief he felt
He felt like he lost his source of stability and love
After all, Tanjiro was the first person to truly see the value in him
Nezuko tried her best to stick by his side and comfort him during that time, but it just couldn’t fill the hole in his heart
It was basically one of those situations where the character realizes that they are in love, but their special person is gone
When they finally found Tanjiro in his Half-Demon state, the trio was overwhelmed with joy
Tanjiro then picked them all up and swung them around in pure happiness (he’s a big boi, okay?)
However, Zenitsu didn’t tell Tanjiro his feelings out of fear of rejection (also because gay relationships weren’t all too common back then)
For Tanjiro, he realized he had feelings for Zenitsu when he forced Tanjiro to look after his injuries (which Tanjiro neglected to take care of)
Tanjiro loved how Zenitsu cared for him and made sure that he would take care of himself
Despite this, they didn’t confess to each other for quite some time
They both ended up telling Nezuko and Inosuke about their feelings for each other
This made Nezuko and Inosuke team up and try to get them to confess (this also made Nezuko and Inosuke fall in love)
They managed to convince Tanjiro and Zenitsu to confess to each other by getting the Hashiras into the situation and having them give their support on their same sex relationship
So on one faithful Valentine’s Day, Tanjiro and Zenitsu finally confessed their love for each other (They ended up being sobbing, flustered messes afterwards)
Now on to more general headcanons!
They are both HUGE cuddle bugs!
Once they are cozy and in each other’s embrace, it is physically impossible to move them until morning
Zenitsu is the little spoon, there’s no debate (I mean Tanjiro’s freaking HUGE!)
Tanjiro’s purring makes him irresistible for Zenitsu
His gentle sound, purring, and soft growls make one of the most heavenly sounds Zenitsu’s ever heard
Picnics in the lush forest are their ideal dates! (Bonus if there’s fireworks!!)
When it come to housework, they both work together to make sure that it’s done
Tanjiro is an excellent cook (his sense of smell makes him an expert) and Zenitsu will never stop complimenting it
We all know that Tanjiro is tone deaf, but i believe that Zenitsu has a great singing voice and Tanjiro will occasionally ask Zenitsu to sing him his mother’s lullaby
Zenitsu gets absolutely flustered whenever Tanjiro compliments him or does something nice for him
Both Tanjiro and Nezuko nuzzle to show affection
So when Tanjiro nuzzles Zenitsu, Zenitsu’s face goes entirely red
Tanjiro sometimes kneads his claws like a cat against pillows, blankets, or even Zenitsu.
Yeah it kinda hurts, but Zenitsu loves it and urges him on
They are both there to help each other
Tanjiro will always comfort Zenitsu when he’s stressed and Zenitsu will always make sure that Tanjiro is doing well and taking care of himself
Tumblr media
Despite knowing that Tanjiro will never betray him, Zenitsu still gets INSANELY jealous
He mostly gets jealous when Tanjiro spins anyone else around (he does that when he’s happy) or when he holds someone and purrs to heal them
Of course, no healthy couple doesn’t have no arguing
They don’t argue too often since they usually have great communication, but sometimes they do
When they do argue, they usually have to be apart for a little while
But after they’ve calmed down, they talk about the issue and make the other person understands their situation and tries to fix it
The two major ones they’ve had were about Zenitsu’s jealousy and Tanjiro’s self neglect
Despite this, they always stick by each other’s side
(I hope you’ve enjoyed these headcanons! This ship is my personal OTP for Demon Slayer and I love their relationship!!)
Also I hate autocorrect

long kny rant, bare with me
!KIMETSU NO YAIBA SPOILERS!
sup guys i was on youtube and came across a one hour video pointing out all the bad things in demonslayer and the comments under the video had mixed reactions so i decided to make a unnecessarily descriptive paragraph of my own opinion.
now first of all, kimetsu no yaiba, or 'demonslayer', is one of my favourite anime/manga ever. i dont know why i like it so much, i just like it.
the storyline is extremely simple. tanjiro kamado, a 14 year old boy, had his family killed by the demon king, muzan, but his younger sister Nezuko survived. however, nezuko had turned into a demon and tanjiro is finding a way to turn her back into a human.
tanjiro is a good main character, and there is no argument in that. he's the typical kind, caring, and sweet mc, but unlike emma from tpn and deku from mha, he does not hesitate to kill a man-eating demon, no matter who it was as a human. he shows pity, but he kills them because he knows that if he leaves a demon alive, it would just kill and eat more people. he gives mercy as well, like when he gave the spider-demon mother a painless death because she had accepted her fate. he doesnt try to find loopholes to 'save the evil guys and give them a second chance'. no, he simply wishes them to be reborn happily and kills them. simple as that. tamayo and nezuko and yushiro are different, because its confirmed that they have never eaten a human before and probably wont in the future. thats why tanjiro leaves them alive. he is not 'bland' or 'boring' or 'uninteresting', he's better than most modern anime mc's out there.
nezuko WOULD HAVE BEEN a good character, but she's honestly just there for plot armour. i wish the author had shown us more about her internal struggles. like, in the red district arc, nezuko shows a lot more emotion and struggle than usual, and i respect the author for putting that part in there. however, she's so bland. i wish she could talk, so she could squabble with her brother and show more emotion.
zenitsu's character interests me. i like how he 'falls asleep' to fully activate his full potential, because he's too scared to do it consciously. people ridicule him for being a coward, but lets be honest, we would all act like him if we were in a world full of demons. what i dont like is his behaviour towards nezuko, and ESPECIALLY how they get MARRIED IN THE END. like bro know nezuko has the mental capacity of a toddler when shes a demon and swoons over her and acts like a pervert - thats why i don't like zenitsu that much.
inosuke, on the other hand, is so unhinged that it makes me laugh. his behaviour is fully justified - i mean, he grew up in a forest with boars and never learned of 'human manners', of course he would act the way he does. i also like how he gradually trusts tanjiro more and more, its the very little character development that counts the most.
i wish we saw more of rengoku. he was introduced, then killed like a few episodes later. i didnt really get how the trio got so attached to him in a short amount of time, i wish the author had specified more on their relationship. rengoku leaves a everlasting impression on tanjiro, but i think rengoku's character should've been shown more if he was going to be used as motivation for tanjiro. he really said "set your heart ablaze" and died. like, um, ok, love those sentimental words but sir i would like to know more about you????
someone in the comments of the video commented that they dont like how mitsuri was given an explanation for her strength and how shinobu was just weak af. they were like "um im female too and i think the female characters should have been as strong as the male characters without some stupid explanation 🙄". first of all, girls are just weaker than boys. im not being sExIsT, its just how it is. even if men are weak, there's a good chance that they would be stronger than a 'strong woman', because MEN ARE PHYSICALLY STRONGER THAN WOMEN. its not a big deal. men are born stronger, period. there is absolutely no way mitsuri could be as strong as sanemi or giyuu without the author explaining her strange muscle composition. shinobu is short and weak, which is what mitsuri would've been without, again, her muscle composition. female demonslayers cannot be on the same level as the male demonslayers without training. tanjiro is strong, and he trained to get stronger. kanao was weak, and she trained to get stronger. currently, i believe that kanao is stronger than tanjiro, but at one point in their life, tanjiro will become stronger. this is why there are only two female hashiras and barely any female demonslayers - they simply aren't strong enough. shinobu's speed makes up for her lack of strength, while mitsuri has a strange muscle composition. those unrealistic ocs where its like "y/n is as petite as shinobu but she's actually the strongest hashira lol" always annoys me because its not physically possible.
there are definitely badly-written and bland characters in demonslayer, but there are definitely well-written and interesting characters as well. stop trying to categorise it all into 'boring characters'.
animation plays a big part in demonslayer's popularity. a lot of people only like it for the beautiful animation, and they say that its nothing without it. demonslayer is a story that you dont have to put a lot of thought into, you just watch it and somehow get engrossed. its not good, neither is it bad. its a decent story with its perks along the way, so stop comparing it to other anime. anime is always compared, and some people take it way too far. just enjoy whatever you like and don't bother other people who watch different things. the amount of fights ive seen between the jjk fandom and the kny fandom scares me, especially since i love both of them lol.
there's def a lot more to add but ill just leave it here for now. thanks for listening, bubye 👋

Maiden of the Moon
Tumblr media
What if Kokushibo had a pupil, whom he taught the original Moon Breathing before he deserted the Demon Slayer Corps?
Mochizuki Yua was born only for these reasons: To become a Hashira and make her family a respected one in the Demon Slayer Corps.
But if you only live for the expectations of others, who are YOU truly?
What will it take to find yourself?
A long, hard journey awaits.
Tumblr media
The song Yua sings is the first opening from Demon Slayer Gurenge by Liisa. I thought it would be nice to have the opening as a real song in my fanfiction. ^^
Also, I Googled how long a rib takes to heal it's six weeks!
I don't know if the Mangaka intended to have the boys and Nezuko really for that long in the Wistaria Mansion since after EP 14 in EP 15 they were already healed up and it seemed to only have taken a few days.
That's why I decided to make a little slice-of-life chapter for these six weeks. Building foundation for relationships, future plot points, and  etc.
I hope you will like it!
If you like my story please leave a comment, a kudos, a like, a vote or a reblog.
Please show an author your love for their story. :D
Chapter 5: Songs so sweet and sorrow
Do you know the feeling when your body slowly wakes up? When the dream you had still clung to you and you start to feel your body again as hearing comes back.
This moment before fully being awake, when all seems so real and unreal at the same time?
Tanjiro was currently in this state.
A part of him knew he was waking up, another still was in the dream about the happy days he had with his family. Before blood and death and the pain of being left behind only Nezuko as the anchor to this world.
While he was like this he heard a soft and beautiful voice sing.
“Finally, you've given me
A reason to be strong
And we'll stand
Hand in hand
Till the end
As my body's shaking
The future is out there waiting
For me to grasp the light
That's trembling just like my hand
I gotta keep it safe from fading
That's all that I want”
He never heard a song like that. It touched something deep in his heart like whoever sang understood what he was going through.
“The subtle scent of midnight
I spent all thirty nights
I glare up at the stars
Staring into the sky
The path I see before me
I know only I can change it
That's all that I need
Finally, you've given me
A reason to be strong
And we'll stand
Hand in hand
Till the end”
Being strong, going hand and hand, till the end…it fit him and Nezuko so much. Tanjiro wanted to become stronger to protect Nezuko, to one day turn her back into a human. They decide to stay together, whatever may come, holding each other's hands tight.
He felt how a tear slipped down his closed eye.
“As my body's shaking
The future is out there waiting
For me to grasp the light
That's trembling just like my hand
I gotta keep it safe from fading
That's all that I want
The subtle scent of midnight
I spent all thirty nights
I glare up at the stars
Staring into the sky
The path I see before me
I know only I can change it
That's all that I need”
Slowly he opened his eyes, starting to wake up. The red-haired boy wanted to know who sang so breathtakingly heartfully.
What he saw first was Zenitsu, sitting up from his futon, his knees up and his arms around them, while his head rested on them. He stared with formal heart eyes into the corner of the room where Yua and Nezuko had slept.
After yesterday, when Tanjiro had explained to his fellow Slayers, his and Nezuko’s story, Yua had taken Nezuko without a second thought under her wing.
The older girl pulled out a fifth futon from the closet, put it beside her, and told them that his sister should sleep in a bed and not in her box.
Then Yua proceeds to dress Nezuko into one of the kimonos of the Wistaria Mansion, of course in the bathroom, and even put his sister's hair in a side braid, since apparently if you have long hair it’s best to braid it before going to sleep.
Tanjiro was happy that Nezuko liked the attention she received from the older girl. He swore his sister even purred at Yua at one point before they all settled down for the night.
Now in the morning he follow Zenitsu’s line of sight and saw Nezuko happily humming along, while Yua was behind her combing her hair.
It took a few seconds before Tanjiro realized the amazing singer was Yua.
A little surprised sound came out of his mouth, then suddenly a hand, Zenitsus, clapped over his mouth and hissed in his ear: “Don’t ruin this moment! I never heard such angelic singing and humming! Nezuko-Chan and Yua-Senpai are divine beings and we shall humbly listen to their singing!”
Not like Tanjiro wanted to interrupt, he just was surprised. When Nezuko was still human, she liked to sing while she worked on her needlework. It was amazing hearing the voice of his sister again.
Yua-Senpai was what surprised him.
From what he had learned of her and smelled…she was tough and rough, yet was loving and gentle to younger ones.
Singing so heartbreakingly beautiful, with such a melodious and soft voice…it nearly didn’t fit her.
Nearly.
Tanjiro had smelled the deep and strong insecurity in Yua-Senpai and the overwhelming smell of lostness.
She was complicated.
Maybe he could catch a moment today with her to talk and understand her better.
The midnight blue-haired beauty finished her singing and combing Nezuko’s hair.
“All done Nezuko-Chan.”, she said to her, fixing the elaborate braid she had made. “Now you are even prettier!”
The demon girl let out a cute squeal, touching her pretty braid in wonder. Then she turned and hugged the older girl.
Yua chuckled at this affectionate gesture, hugging the younger girl back.
“These two are so lovely!”, signed Zenitsu dreamily. “The most beautiful woman on this Earth.”
"Agatsuma, your words mean nothing to me."
Tanjiro could formally see the imagery giant boulder with Rejected written on it that falls on Zenitsu.
The blond cried out in sadness.
"Your voice is beautiful Yua-Senpai. It's something to be proud of.", told her Tanjiro honestly.
She made a little bow in his direction.
"Your words honor me, Kamado-San."
"That's so unfair!", wailed Zenitsu with tears streaming down his cheeks. "Why do you accept Tanjiro's compliment and not mine?!"
"Because Kamado-San doesn't try to get into my pants, Agatsuma.", deadpanned Yua, giving the cooing Nezuko head pats.
For that, Zenitsu got the major side eye from Tanjiro. He could smell that his new friend didn't have the purest thoughts.
The blond just wailed more and fell down on his futon.
Inosuke was the only one sleeping through all the noise.
Tumblr media
The group of four Demon Slayers and a demon had created a rhythm in the days they stayed in the Wisteria Mansion to heal from their wounds.
Yua and Nezuko were always the first to wake up. Both girls took a bath together, then while Yua sang she combed Nezuko’s hair, giving her a new pretty hairstyle every day.
Zenitsu woke up from the singing, listening to it and still admiring both beautiful young women in their company.
Tanjiro was the next to wake up and always made sure to tell his sister how pretty she looked and complimented Yua's singing.
Inosuke was always the last to wake up, then they would have breakfast and try somehow to pass the day.
Was it telling each other stories from their childhoods or about their works as Demon Slayers.
Hisa was so nice to even give them a few board games and it was a struggle to help Inosuke to understand what board games where good for and why they were played.
In the Wisteria Mansion was a little library, so they read also. Yua even tried teaching Inosuke the basics. Even when the wild boy didn't want to, she just grabbed him by his ear and made him repeat the Hiragana Alphabet. Tanjiro tried to help too but with a more gentle approach.
One night while they enjoyed dinner Zenitsu joked that Yua was like the father of their group, while Tanjiro was the mother.
This made Tanjiro blush a little and then even more as the young woman just said: "I would marry Kamado, hell even Hashibira, before I would consider going on a date with you, Agatsuma!"
Zenitsu’s wails could be heard from Kilometers, meanwhile, Inosuke asked them what the heck marriage was and they spent the rest of the night explaining it to him.
The wild boy took this as a chance to rile up Zenitsu the following days more to remind him that the older lady would rather have him than even consider Zenitsu for a second.
Tanjiro and Yua had to break them apart, only Nezuko seemed to giggle cutely at the scene before her.
When all was calm again Yua deadpanned just at Tanjiro and said: "Our kids are terrors, husband."
Something like a squeak comes out of Tanjiro, his cheeks changing color. He wondered how the older girl could just say things like that without embarrassment.
It was only her smell that indicated that she was just messing around and didn't see him as her spouse.
The red-haired boy didn't get why he felt disappointed.
When they all felt better they started to help around the Mansion aka. Yua and Tanjiro had to force Inosuke to help around.
Currently Tanjiro was hanging up the wet clothes with Yua and realized that they finally where alone for a moment.
This was the chance to get her to know better.
"Yua-Senpai, can I ask you something?", he began.
"Sure, Kamado-San what is it?"
"I don't want to cross any border.", he assured her. "It's just been on my mind these last few weeks."
"You can tell me Kamado-San I can see from your Aura you have only pure intentions."
"Right…forgot that for a second…also, Yua-Senpai when you told us you wanted to be a Hashira…why did you smell so much of grief and sadness and anger?"
This stopped the young woman from her task to hang up the wet clothes.
Tanjiro smelled anxiety from her. Oh no, he didn't want to trouble her!
He couldn't even say sorry, as Yua hissed in fake anger, to hide her anxiety: "Kamado get your nose checked. I don’t feel like this about becoming a Hashira. It's an honor my family was skipped over for centuries, even with us being the strongest Slayers! It’s my duty and I'm proud to be the one to finally reach this goal!"
Maybe she could tell herself these lies, but the red-haired boy smelled the utter despair.
"Yua-Senpai, I see us as friends. I can smell your true feelings. It hurts me to see you in such anguish…did anybody ever ask you if you wanted to walk the path of a Demon Slayer?", he asked her, trying to keep his tears at bay.
The seventeen-year-old girl just stared straight ahead, still as a statue, a single tear rolling down her cheek.
"No…no one asked me.", she admitted in a broken voice. "But that’s not important, I have a duty to my family."
"But what about you?"
"Enough, Kamado, let’s never talk about this again."
With this, she turned and left him alone with the chore.
Tumblr media
Yua knew she was being a coward, yet she couldn't handle Tanjiro's pure concern for her.
He was the first who ever asked her if she wanted to be a Demon Slayer.
She couldn't handle it.
Him and his gentle and kind Aura. It was a temptation to just…hug him, telling him all her worries.
He reminded her of Kioko, her mother.
This was not good.
It could lead her astray from her way to becoming a Hashira, to finally be accepted by her grandfather and the whole Demon Slayer Corps.
She had a duty. That's why she was born into this world.
To clean the name of Mochizuki from the sins of their forefathers.
Nothing else could matter.
Not even herself.
She was an instrument.
"The only wish I have left in this world is that you find your happiness in life, my blossom."
The last words of her mother, before her sickness killed her, came to Yua.
Her mother was like Tanjiro, a gentle soul who loved her and her father with a fiery passion.
Mother had fought tooth and nail against her grandfather. Kioko had wanted her to decide if she became a Demon Slayer or not…but after learning she was the only one who could use Moon Breathing it had been a lost fight.
But the midnight blue-haired girl remembered how often her mother would hold her, when she cried from the wounds in training, her Aura gently catching her.
Another tear escaped Yua, which she brushed away fast.
Tanjiro was dangerous. He would be easy to love, that was clear.
And love was the last thing Yua needed in her life.
Love wouldn't get her closer to being a Hashira.
Better stomp this seed before it could blossom.
So for the next few days, Yua kept her distance from Tanjiro.
Oh she would talk to him and they would rile in Zenitsu and Inosuke, but she did her hardest to not be alone with the redhead. She still took care of Nezuko, because she liked the demon girl. It was easier to love her since it was completely platonic.
Anyway even if she stayed distant from him, Tanjiro's words didn't leave her brain. It was a hard fight to ignore them.
More often than not Yua wished Sayoko would be here. She needed her cousin to bitch about the situation she was in. Sayoko would surely have an idea to fix this.
It was a mess.
So days and days pass, they healed, and they get back on their feet.
Soon it would be time for a new mission.
Hopefully, this would make Yua forget this emotional mess she was in.
One could only hope.

dating tanjiro kamado <3
HI ill prob end up doing 1 of these for most of the characters btw… n e way tanjiro my beloved <3 also feel free to ask stuff bc i will do most things ?!? feel free to make it as detailed as u want too omg..
anyways ideal boyfriend real???
he is literally the perfect person he would be an AMAZING boyfriend
love language? all. he likes to appreciate and love you constantly in any way. includes:
random hugs
random compliments
random gifts
randomly doing your chores or going in place for you on missions if you’re tired
randomly asking if you two want to hang out and do whatever
he’s a sweetheart and would do anything for u. anything!
he loves to show u off to his friends omg
“guys, doesn’t my girlfriend look so pretty today? her outfit is so cute! she’s so gorgeous!” (intense fanboying)
zenitsu hates that tanjiro got a gf before him. inosuke doesn’t care LOL
he gets super concerned when he has to leave you for long to go on missions. when he comes home he’s SO worried even though he was the one just on a mission?
but when he gets back from long missions he’s SUPER affectionate. always hugging and cuddling and kissing you !! he loves u sm he can’t help it
when you’re upset he can smell it lol… usually he’ll respect your privacy and wait until you decide to tell him what’s wrong- but if he can tell it’s getting bad and/or you need some comfort, he’s always at your side
whenever you two encounter a demon together, he’s always super protective of you. and if you’re a slayer like him, he knows your strength and will be wary of you while you’re fighting.
if you’re a slayer, he loves to train with you! he probably would admire you a lot aswell.
all in all, rlly sweet amazing bf that would do anything for you. you’re hot? he would personally make little fans to fan you with. you’re cold? he’s prepared with blankets (and himself). i love him sm.
Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke were out at the Butterfly Estate, training roughly as to prepare for their next missions. So while they trained, I carelessly walked around until my boyfriend was finished up with his training.
Often times I found myself chatting aimlessly with Shinobu, often about some slayers that she’s had to take care of. She has interesting stories often. Or sometimes I’d talk with Kanao, except it wasn’t really talking, we just sat in a comfortable silence.
However, when I wasn’t doing either of those things, I usually just sat outside of the estate, observing the pretty flowers around or the sky. I’d get lost in thought, thinking about my previous missions- which would usually lead to me just thinking about my beloved.
“Y/N! I hope you weren’t waiting too long for me!” His voice snapped me out of my thoughts as I quickly turned my head, seeing Tanjiro rushing towards me, quickly sitting next to me. “Training has been so tough lately… it’s taking longer than usual.”
He was visibly upset about training- not that he despised training in itself, but that he never felt like he had enough time with you.
“Don’t worry about it, Tanjiro. You’ve gotten a lot stronger, I can tell!” I smiled, making him sheepishly smile in return.
“Do you think so? Sometimes I can’t really tell.” He hummed, leaning on my shoulder.
“Are you tired?” I looked down at him, he had his eyes closed. “We should go rest then. You lay down and I can bring you a snack?” I suggested, but he shook his head.
“No, that’s alright, Y/N.” He hummed, looking at me with a soft smile. “I just want to go lay down with you. Is that fine?”
His words caught me off a little, a red tint appearing on my cheeks. “Well… Yeah, of course.” I smiled a bit, and he wrapped his arms around me, leaning into my chest.
“I’m glad… but, can we just stay like this for a bit?”
I smiled with a sigh, putting my arms around him. “Yeah… Yeah, of course, Tanjiro.”

Things that came to mind while watching this episode:
-SWORDS -Urokodaki's intro to the Corp is both necessary and info-dumping but in a way that I have lovingly come to accept as KnY style. However, the first time I watched it, I think I totally forgot about it.
--Also while watching it the first time, I was like, "whoa, more time has passed? More time has passed? MORE time has passed??" and later I was like "and Nezuko was conveniently asleep the whole time" but being as deep as I am now, I'm like, "yes, what a wonderful training montage, I love that Tanjiro kept a diary, Nezuko was working so hard this whole time too, yes of course Tanjiro took that much time to fully ingrain all that manliness into his muscles." --Urokodaki comparing humans to demons and mentioning how human limbs don't grow back? Kind of on the nose. --Mentioning how swords can break easily? Also kind of on the nose.
--I didn't intend for 'on the nose' to be a reference to the Tengu mask, and I even less intended for 'on the nose' to refer to Urokodaki's sense of smell. Seeing the connections now, I choose to stick with this phrasing.
--I know that Urokodaki was realistically trying to prepare his children to face monsters who actively want to murder them, but... did any of them die in training??? Those are real sharp objects! I can imagine Nezuko happily reading Tanjiro's diary later, but then pausing and looking up to stare incredulously at Urokodaki, appalled that he had nearly killed her only remaining brother.
--That being said, the Corp is an organization of some few hundred swordsmen (at any given time), with some huge portion more who died at the Final Selection, and some still more huge portion who failed to gain permission to attend the Final Selection. If we compare to, say, modern day competitive children's sports all going for the same championships, then it's not a large number. However, it does go to show the widespread damage demons cause, and how many children are driven to find putting their lives on the line to take down demons is their only remaining calling in life after having lost everything. Urokodaki has seen it so many times, so every time he accepts a student, he accepts someone who has given up anything else to live for, and he has to accept the consequences of their choices and how it may be out of his hands, all he can do is give them the best chance of survival he can and try to protect his own heart against the inevitable. Withdrawing from Tanjiro to leave him to his own devices may had been part of that.
--Ok, but also wouldn't it be funny if the scar on Sabito's face is from training with the traps on Mt. Sagiri? --Hanae Natsuki had so many good sounds over the course of this training montage. Zenitsu gets the reputation for it, but let us never forget that Tanjiro is the OG "NE~ZU~KO~" screamer.
--Speaking of sounds, the sound of the sword as Sabito draws a real blade on Tanjiro at the end of the episode? CHEF'S KISS. Also, even if Sabito doesn't have a scent, he has manifested so much physicality that he's got remarkable sound effects as he attacks Tanjiro. And those flutes as he appears on the rock? So nice.
--AND THOSE ATTACKS, OH MY GOSH. THE HUMAN-ON-HUMAN SWORDPLAY IS SO GOOD. It's like Tanjiro said, not a singe wasted movement, Sabito's swordplay is so smooth and there is such a stark difference between him and Sabito in that first encounter. Also, SOMETHING I LOVE: Tanjiro blocks the first few strikes from Sabito with the hilt of his sword instead of with the blade. This goes to show Tanjiro's hesitation to use the blade, both for how it may deal damage and how the blade might take damage. It's after a few more blows that Sabito forces him to start defending himself with the blade instead of the handle. That was masterful swordplay storytelling.
--Gotouge, have you practiced martial arts? Breath technique is of fantasy level proportions, but so many core ideas and true training methods are on display so well.
--Random, but the bright coloring on Tanjiro's eyes in this episode? SO PRETTY. And so much focus on his facial expressions, especially in his concern for Nezuko. I was falling for this boy so hard by the time I got to this point in my first watch.
--But THAT SABITO SMILE, OH MY GOOOOSH
--There's a part of me that has always wondered if Tanjiro ever had a crush on Makomo, or at least found her somewhat cute initially before fully accepting her in more of a sempai role. In his experience, he's likely never encountered a girl like her before, and similar elements might had been what made him notice and ponder Kanao later on when he saw her with the butterflies. Not saying I think it would had been a serious crush or even anything he was aware of, I just wonder if he's always had a type (I mean, we know he did, I just wonder if Makomo fits his lily-of-the-valley-faithful-dog type).
--I love that Breath technique isn't necessarily a "summon your qi" kind of spiritual power, and instead focuses on oxygen and the physicality and wraps the psyche into part of one's overall physicality. That's pretty grounded martial arts technique, and likewise, I like how demons' abilities are also grounded in physicality (their bodies and blood having transformed) instead of, say, drawing power from outside sources like magic. But you could also poorly describe this series as "yogis vs Michael Jackson." --You know what makes Makomo & Sabito's presence so believable, despite how Tanjiro found them mysterious and noticed right away that Sabito didn't have a scent? Mt. Sagiri, as a setting. This mountain is so much bigger than Tanjiro is, and Urokodaki is never shown saying more than he needs to for Tanjiro's training purposes, so for all Tanjiro knows, there are other children training concurrently, in their own pockets of the mountain. He's had to work so hard to gain his own mastery of Mt. Sagiri that he wouldn't be surprised to encounter people who know it better than he does, enough to be able to watch him while he wasn't aware (what with having his attention so focused on his own desperate training). As they probably don't have demon sisters to keep an eye on, it would make sense that he might be the only one to dwell with Urokodaki.
--That split boulder has become so iconic and I love it.

Questions and answers below the cut:
Question 1: To Yuichirou Tokito in SE&BH, How was the Swordsmith Village? Is everyone okay, and how did you feel about the expression?
Aside from nearly drowning, it was alright. We had some close calls, but the casualties were limited. We have Nezuko and Genya to thank for that. They did a great job fighting Upper Four, alongside the Rengoku kid and his demon. At least, that’s what I heard. I’m just glad we killed both those demons before they could wipe out the village. But… what expression are you referring to, exactly? The stress and the poison made my head a little muddy.
Question 2: To Mitsuri and Kyojurou in SE&BH, Can you two hug your friends in a group hug, please?
Yes!
Mhm!
Tumblr media
Question 3: To Shinazugawa, Obanai, Kaburamaru, and the Kochou Sisters, How did you feel when you first met Kyojurou and Mitsuri and how did it go?
I was planning to kill the demon, but Rengoku threw her into the mansion and she threw me through… I don’t even know how many walls. I broke a good chunk of my ribs. I still don’t trust them completely, but I’ve stuck around this long.
I felt safe around Rengoku. And I don’t know what came over me when I met Kanroji, but I will kill someone if they hurt her.
After Mount Natagumo, we’ve gotten along swimmingly! You broke Rengoku’s jaw. We talked it over! There’s no hard feelings! Plus, Mitsuri is so sweet and adorable, how could I be mad at such a sweet girl! Kanae, she’s a demon. One that doesn’t eat humans! I guess you’re right about that. And I guess they’re both nice enough to not fuss about it.
Question 4: To the SE&BH Hashira, what would your reaction be if Zenitsu and Inosuke got accidentally married on an undercover mission?
Nezuko: I’d laugh, because it’d take a damn miracle or enough alcohol to kill the average man to get them to go on a mission with just the two of them. Never mind the part where they got married. So they either got wasted, or were the victims of a god’s sick sense of humour. Could go either way, if you ask me. Either way, I’m gonna enjoy the show before the divorce. Tanjirou: I mean, I’d have some questions, but I won’t judge. Kanao: I would certainly be curious as to what led to such an event. Then again, chaos tends to follow them, along with Tanjirou, wherever they go, so perhaps it’s just par for the course. Aoi: I would definitely wonder what possessed them to go through with such a hare-brained idea. But, it ultimately isn’t up to me. Genya: … I’m sorry, what the actual f***? Those two, getting married? How?! Makio: No questions on my end, I’m married to two women and share a husband with ‘em. Whatever they do in that case is mundane in comparison, by most standards. Though, I doubt Agatsuma has interest in men, much less Hashibira. Suma: Not what I would expect from them, but I won’t judge! Hinatsuru: I’m… not sure. They always seem at each other’s throats, but I suppose what they do is their business. Sayo: Not what I would have expected, considering they both have romantic partners and only seem to get along when Tanjirou, Nezuko, Kanao, or Aoi are in the vicinity.

Alright y'all, I'm on a Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba hyperfixation rn and you're gonna hear about it!
Demon Slayer Anime & Manga Spoilers beyond this point 👇
Ok so take this with a grain of salt, as I am a HUGE fan of Fullmetal Alchemist and Demon Slayer, but I can't help but compare the two a little bit.
KNY is very good, it tells a nice story and I love the characters a lot! But there's a lot of characters...and they don't really get a lot of time put into them because of Tanjiro. He's the main character of course but it felt like he had to be shoehorned into some arcs for anything to happen to anyone else. (Mainly the Entertainment District Arc) The pacing in KNY isn't great, a lot of the ending felt rushed and a lot of plotlines came up out of nowhere only to get dropped just as quickly too. A lot of this could've been sprinkled into the anime as foreshadowing or foundation for later full reveals. (Like that random prophecy or Shinobu and the Wisteria Poison! Like, literally give me crumbs I am BEGGING.)
Now take a look at Fullmetal Alchemist, it has a similar plotline (older sibling has something terrible happen to younger sibling and goes on a journey to fix it. Etc. Etc.) and FMA has a big cast of characters too. However, these characters are allowed to exist without Edward Elric having to hover around them all the time. They've got their own shit going on in the background and it makes them compelling and well rounded. Even the characters who only show up for two episodes (I'm looking at you Devil's Nest) are given time and care so we get invested into them! But there's also a lot of stuff we don't know about these characters as well, because they aren't the main character but it doesn't hurt their existence in the story. Imagine if we only saw things from Tanjiro's perspective, no other backstories, no one else's inner thoughts, nothing. You wouldn't care about those characters at all!
I feel like the Demon Slayer anime could've helped with this by adding more episodes and straying slightly from the Manga. The anime is incredibly faithful to its source material, but the source material also had a lot of stuff that couldn't get added that would've made good 'filler' episodes or scenes to help flesh out the characters more!
Tanjiro was in a coma for 4 months. You're telling me we couldn't get a Zenitsu centric episode while he was knocked out?? We can't get a more somber look at Inosuke waiting for his best friend to wake up? I CANT HAVE AOI AND KANAO ANGST?? (<- Aoi and Kanao have so much untapped potential that we don't get to see CAUSE THEY DONT INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER! AOI WANTED KANAO TO BE HER SISTER!!) The anime also already did this with that exclusive Kyojuro focused episode! We got a little sprinkled backstory for him AND his dad, plus what he was doing before he got on the train! (I didn't know I needed to know where all those bentos came from lmao but it was good! It made the world feel more alive.)
It would've also helped if characters, outside of Tanjiro, were allowed to interact with each other on screen! We're left to fill in gaps between characters who supposedly interact a lot with 0 examples of their relationship. Kanao is Shinobu's tsuguko but I can't think of a single time they spoke to each other that wasn't a flashback.
So, yeah. I love Demon Slayer, it's really good on its own but I feel like it needed to be refined and polished a little more, ya know?

I'm not big into Demon Slayer, I always watch a new season but I'm not hardcore. It's a very fun thing just to turn on, especially when I'm sick. But every single time I watch it I just get so taken back by the Shounen misogyny.
Like Season 1, honestly not that bad all things considered. There's a lot of women that all have their own interesting things going on, from swordswomen like Shinobu, to the nurses, and to the many demonesses (? Is that the proper term? No clue lol). They were interesting and got a lot of screen time. Women's roles were very much skewed to being nurses, which isn't the best, but it's a historical fantasy so I can understand there being more in that area with less in combat roles. Still, many had their own inner world and aspects outside of men in their lives. They are heavily involved yes, and Kano changing her whole life because of a man was good, but it's definitely had a stronger start than many anime. It is also fun to see some men have the same writing as a lot of stereotypical Shounen ladies and not have it shoved in the audience's face the irony. Zenitsu is unbelievably annoying, so it's not the best execution on a character so prominent, but shrug.
I don't have much on the movie, it wasn't the best either but far from the worst. There's more ladies here who are interesting but the combat focus isn't on them which is fine, not great but fine, for a movie, honestly. They need to hone in and it did a good job on that.
Season 3 is where it starts to get iffier. The focus is on geisha, shinobi, and a demon geisha. The male main cast even had to disguise as women to help investigate, fun stuff! The issues come in how those women are depicted. Most are pretty one note, with some that are moreso 2 note then fully developed. All stuff that made me want more clarification. It didn't help that all the women were notably weaker compared to the men. I get that the protagonists are mostly dudes, so that's the cost of them women, but most women on their side couldn't hold their own in the slightest. The main villainess being revealed to have a stronger villain brother who needs to be defeated is hypothetically fun but just makes it worse that all the women got their shit rocked so early on.
Then we get to season 4 and Kanroji who is very much billed as a main character but gets largely shafted. It doesn't help that she's very blatantly a "x trope but better and more ironic" character. It's played too genuine to be effective and it's wear all the previous issues really boil over. They do improve her combat, she's not getting obliterated immediately but shows up very late in the battle side of things to be effective. It really stings in a season that has less of the main cast to they could absolutely focus on her more. Plus the whole trope subversion that's too obvious. It was subtle, but annoying, earlier on. But with Kanroji it's all so tongue and cheek and could be very funny (being a waifu that horrifies everyone? Turning hair colors because she's a shrimp? Hilarious ideas!) It's all just played too straight to where it falls into the trope instead of subverting it.
Then there's Nezuko across all seasons. Man is Nezuko a ton of missed potential, especially since there is a character very much like her already in Shounen (what is Alphonse Elric?). Frankly, outside of moments with tanjiro (mostly in backstory and the end of season 4) and all the time with guys sleeving on her, she could just be replaced with a sick, super powered puppy and not much would change. It's always her and that damn box, where she's forced out of the story to hibernate until it's time to battle and get her ass kicked. It's just disappointing, honestly. Especially compared to other women in Shounen who are leaps ahead and especially characters like Alphonse who she has so much in common with. There's a struggle there and while yes it is of course difficult for Tanjiro, it's gotta be GNARLY for Nezuko. But it's barely explored. Hoping it gets better after Season 4, because there's so much there to be explored and to make her shine but so far, it's nada.

Nosebleed Inosuke's mundane task of cleaning the neighbour's storeroom took an unexpected turn when he stumbled upon a hidden collection of erotic paintings. As his eyes roved over the provocative artwork, a nosebleed erupted, capturing Tanjirou's attention. As Tanjirou fussed over Inosuke's well-being, a flurry of unexpected and confusing emotions overwhelmed Inosuke, leaving him with a newfound awareness of his deeper feelings for Tanjirou.
Amidst the confusion, Zenitsu burst into the room, misinterpreting the situation entirely. Convinced that he had been excluded from a secret pornography viewing session, Zenitsu's outrage reached new heights, and all hell broke loose.

Inosuke's White Day Mission
It’s the day before White Day and Tanjirou is busy making chocolates for all the girls who gave him chocolates on Valentine’s Day. Inosuke thinks it’s a stupid tradition. Why should Tanjirou have to return their favours? Shouldn’t Tanjirou be making chocolates for him instead? Of course, he’s not jealous or anything. Definitely not.
Alright, maybe he is a little jealous. After all, he has feelings for Tanjirou and wants to be the one receiving his hand-made chocolates. With a little prodding from Zenitsu and some help from Tanjirou’s family, Inosuke sets out to get the perfect gift to prove that he’s the best candidate for Tanjirou’s White Day chocolates.

But saving the cat felt like something Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and even Nezuko would do. Before he could second guess his decision, he’d jumped into the freezing cold river at the beginning of winter without a shirt on and plucked the drowning feline from the clutches of death.
But far from being grateful, the cat turned out to be a good-for-nothing that poached his underlings and bossed them around in ways unimaginable to him. When it started competing with him for attention from his Underling Number One, Inosuke decided he must show this arrogant fluffball who’s boss!

(8) Love Bugs
Nezuko's impromptu hair cut session for Inosuke and Tanjirou turns into a wild chase when she discovers curious welts on their necks. These weren't the usual training scars. These were shaped like crescent moons or bruised circles, tinged with a faint reddish hue that deepened when the boys stammered excuses. Zenitsu's flippant story about "love bugs" only fueled Nezuko's worries and determination to get to the bottom of things.
