hi, unserious again but lando might’ve appealed more to oscar by being cute than being sl*ty on main.
oscar with all those longing and would’ve devoured looks when lando was full on in race suit and in team kit on full blast while doing work challenges.. 🙃🤔
just saying.. again, this is all unserious.
"So obviously, gotta make an effort. Pretty myself up. Was thinkin' the new white tank and shirt or maybe-- What?"
Oscar was doing that hovering thing. And the smiling thing. And that thing with the eyes where they got all soft and… warm.
"No no, I just," Oscar looked down bashfully, cheeks gone all pink. He was smiling so hard his cheeks half closed his eyes. "I was just thinking you look pretty good right now."
Lando had to fight to keep his body from floating right up to the ceiling and exploding into confetti. Something about how Oscar gave him the simplest compliments affected him more than having the hottest girl in his contacts tell him what a big dick he had. While blowing him.
Instead he let the feeling out in a shuddery laugh and preened a little.
"Yeah? You like my designer white Hilton bathrobe and slippers, Mr. Piastri?" He did a silly little model pose as best he could while lying back against the headboard, letting one leg slip out of the fluffy terry robe. He was sure he intended it as a joke.
Oscar let out a mechanical chuckle and a whispered "yeah". His eyes weren't laughing at all where they traced Lando's leg right up to the thigh. Totally humorless, in fact.
Ash coughed a little from the corner accent chair.
Thank god.
Oscar straightened and shoved his hands into his pockets.
"You gonna meet up with Max after the interview?"
"Yeah, gonna do something quick like a burger. You gonna be at your parents' with Lily, right?"
Lando rated his casual execution of that last part at a 6 out of 10. Definite improvement.
"Yeah, be good to catch up before things get crazy."
Oh, why did Oscar always have to look like they were saying goodbye forever and he couldn't bear to leave?
Ash practically had to walk into him to get things moving. He didn't even bother to hide the enormous eye roll. He exchanged nods with Lando and headed for the door.
"Okay, well. Night night!" Oscar said in their special little muppet voice, raising one hand in a wave.
Lando did the voice back at him, doing a grabby-baby wave with one hand.
"Night night, Osc!"
Oscar burst into a giggle and a radiant smile. He nearly shouldered the wall because he kept glancing back at Lando as he walked out of the room.
When it was absolutely certain that Oscar wouldn't be turning around and start banging on the door begging to get in and drop to his knees to propose, Lando tugged the robe's hood over his head and slithered over onto his front, face buried in the pillows. Gave himself exactly 30 seconds of intense wallowing and shoved himself up determinedly.
Half past midnight wasn't exactly an ideal time to catch up on emails when he had a 7am call time but it was better than letting his mind just do it's thing.

Noah Sebastian x OFC
The next chapter of Noah & Leena's story
I was so on the fence about writing a sequel, yet here we are. I saw the sequel in my head, and decided it was worth the write. This story is told from Noah's perspective. This time, I'm going to put warnings in on each individual chapter, as some may not need any. Also - something worth mentioning; the names of each part in the first story were obviously Bad Omens song titles. This time, they will be titles from songs that just inspire me. If you're here, thank you for reading! Leave me your thoughts, and let me know if you'd like to be tagged. xo
Warnings: Just some gool ol' fashioned smut with some kinky stuff added in. (Also mention of marijuana smoking)
+It goes without saying. This is a work of fiction. My words are mine. Plagiarism is a crime.

Part 1 - Shame On Me
I've been a morning person my entire life. Even before I was active, and in the shape I'm in now, I was usually risen with the sun. However, after having spent the vast majority of my days the last year running on fumes, I found myself still laying in bed, hugging my pillow, letting my brain drift comfortably in and out of consciousness.
That is, until I felt something tugging at the edge of the blanket I had draped over my midsection.
I rolled over, eyes cracking open, seeing the miniature fingers grasping at me, Addison's eyes bright with a smile plastered across her face.
"Da da da da!" I smiled back at her, sitting up and lifting her onto the bed, flopping her down on the pillow next to me. She giggled wildly and I pulled the blanket up over the both of us.
"Five more minutes, baby girl."
Her tiny hand was pulling at the hem of my tank top, trying to 'wake me up' as I laid there, dramatically snoring.
"Da da!" Her voice was getting angrier, and I laughed.
"Da da's tired, Addie! I get to sleep in!"
"Nooo!" I snorted at one of the few words she had come to learn very well.
"No?!" I grabbed her sides, pinching and tickling her, causing a roaring laughter to burst out of her. Her onesie was wrinkled and nearly popping open at her diaper from how hard she wriggled under my grip. "You don't get to say no to me, lady! I am your Daddy!"
She thrashed her head back and forth, gasping for air between happy squeals.
"Addie, would you let your Daddy sleep?" Mileena's voice floated in from the doorway.
I turned my head, and my hand stopped the torment on Addison. Leena was stood in a pair of black leggings, white crop top exposing her belly button, and her dark brown faded hair now pulled up in a messy bun. She looked so comfortable, so unkempt, and absolutely fucking delicious.
I reached an arm out toward her, earning me a small grin when she walked toward me. She placed a hand in mine, and I pulled her close to me. She bent down, her face stopping only inches from mine.
"Happy Birthday, Noah." Her voice was even, but her eyes were hungry.
With everything we had been through the last few weeks, with shows, Addie's first birthday, a bout of the flu, and Laura announcing she was getting a divorce, there had been very little time for us to be alone. I knew she felt it, but we weren't there yet. We needed to get through today, the Halloween party/birthday celebration, before we had any chance of spending time together.
"Thank you, my love. Happy Halloween."
Leena's eyes lit up. Halloween was her favorite holiday even before her and I met, so getting to have a huge celebration was right up her alley.
After Addison was born, it became abundantly clear that living with a newborn and all of the band members was no longer ideal. Addie was as colicky as they come, keeping everyone up at all hours of the night. The constant crying, mess, and general irritation that it caused made our living arrangements difficult. As much as Uncles Nick, Jolly, and Folio loved baby Addie, they needed a change.
I had offered to move us out, buy a new house, but Nick insisted that they would get a place - promised to be close by - to allow us our space. I was eternally grateful, and will never be able to pay him back for everything he had done for me. Eventually, they moved out, and the house was left for just us.
Aside from the struggle that being new parents took on Leena and I's sex life, it also took a serious toll on our recovery. Nothing sounds better to take the edge off from three-day long sleepless binges than a rum and Coke. Leena confessed her drink of choice was Vodka, and she nearly broke down once, driving to the liquor store, but never making it inside.
We both went back to our meetings once Addie was old enough to be babysat, spending a few hours at a time with either Laura or the guys.
After spending a few more minutes smothering Addie in kisses, I finally began getting out of bed. Leena was folding laundry on the dresser, putting it away meticulously.
"What time is it?"
"Almost noon. Laura will be here in a few hours to pick up Addie for the night." She folded one of my pairs of pants, placing it neatly in the dresser drawer.
I turned my attention back to my daughter, wiggling my eyebrows at her. "Nah, I think she's going to stay here with me. Hang out with Daddy on his birthday!"
Addison squealed, her legs kicking at me. I grabbed her hand and began pretending I was going to eat her fingers.
"As fun as that would be, I don't know that her being here when the sheer amount of musicians in our house come by is such a great idea."
I didn't look at her, still pretending to take bites out of the baby's arm. "What do you mean? Andy loves kids! Oli does too, said Addie was the next Stevie Knicks!"
Mileena shook her head and snorted. "Yeah? Are you referring to the last party, when she was kept awake most of the night, and we had a miserable day afterwards because she was so tired?"
I narrowed my eyes back at her. "Listen, Folio promised he wouldn't play drums this time."
She gave me a look that told me I wasn't winning this.
"You sure she isn't old enough to trick or treat, yet?"
She shook her head at me. "Honey, that's what the trunk or treat last night was for."
I pursed my lips. "Fine, but tomorrow, I'm taking you guys somewhere. Just the three of us, yeah?"
I was standing now, shirtless, and pulled Addie down onto the carpet. She immediately crawled toward Angel laying on the floor.
"That sounds fun." Mileena was bent down, putting one of her shirts in the drawer in the bottom of the dresser.
I walked up behind her, my hand grazing the back of her thigh, coming to rest on the curve of her ass. My touch startled her, making her stand up straight in a flash, her back bumping into my chest.
I took the opportunity to wrap an arm around her middle, pulling her back into me. "Mmm," I hummed into the skin just below her ear. "think Addie's going to nap today?"
Leena pressed her ass against me, pushing into the fabric of my shorts. She leaned her had back against my collarbone, eyes closing comfortably.
"Probably not." Her voice was breathless. "She slept in."
“That’s too fucking bad.” I kept my voice low, glancing at Addie, who was leaned against Angel’s sleeping body, holding her feet in wonder. “Because it’s been so long.” I let my hand graze over the hem of her leggings, slipping a thumb in the waistband.
She groaned. “Noah, don’t start something you can’t finish.” As annoyed as she sounded, she was still pressed against me, hands now gripping my arm where it held her in place.
“Oh, baby, I’m finishing it. The second I get you alone, I’m ripping you to fucking shreds.”
She giggled then, pulling away and turning to peer up at me, her eyes as dark as mine.
“Yeah? You always say that. Yet, somehow, I can still walk afterwards?” Her smirk was devious, and I raised an eyebrow at her.
She chuckled, and picked the laundry basket up from the bed, making her way back toward the hallway.
Oh, she was dead.
-
The living room was buzzing with energy, music playing over the speakers, and conversations filling the air. I stood, leaned against the bannister of the staircase, hands in my pockets. The smell of marijuana permeated the air, which was to be expected.
Hearing we were having ‘dry parties’ didn’t sound like much fun, until people learned we made other accommodations. Although Leena and I didn’t partake, we weren’t opposed to others having a good time.
Speaking of my girl, I had lost her at some point in the night. When Ronnie and Saraya showed up, she had excitedly grabbed the latter’s hand and drug her off to the backyard, where her garden was flourishing. The girls were undoubtedly gossiping. They usually did.
I made my way through the sea of bodies toward my kitchen, where I found Jolly and Nick, ripping a joint, laughing about something I hadn’t heard.
I had to raise my voice for them to hear me. “You seen Leena?”
Jolly exhaled his smoke, a rough cough coming out as he passed it back to Nick. “Last I saw, she was outside talking to Oli.”
I nodded, heading for the back door. I stopped at the dining room table, catching sight of her. Her floor length black, unforgivably tight dress hung so beautifully off of her frame. The sleeves reached her wrists, the neckline plunging disrespectfully. Her, now freshly dyed, black hair was pulled up into a ponytail, the length falling down her back. I drank in the sight of her.
My gaze was disrupted when I saw her hand reach up, grabbing an arm. It was a thick, muscular arm covered in tattoos. I then realized that she was, in fact, talking to Oli. Her lips were pulled in a smile, her teeth flashing. She was laughing. And she was touching him.
He was towering over her. Oliver was nearly as tall as me, his frame poised so you could see the ripples of his chest under his shirt. Something inside me tightened. I didn’t like it.
Stepping outside, I consciously kept myself calm as I approached them. Oli saw me first.
“Hey, there he is! Birthday boy!” His thick accent made me smile, my primitive rage fading slightly.
“Hey, what’s going on guys?”
Leena turned, her body pressing close to me instinctively. “Hey! Oli and I were just talking about that tour you were on with him in Europe?”
I nodded. “Fun stuff, man. Cant wait to do it again.”
Oliver nodded, a lazy smile spread across his face. “Oh yeah, we had that crowd eating out of our hands, man. What a fucking rush.”
Leena giggled at Oli’s excitement, it made my spine stiffen, and my blood run cold.
She shouldn’t be laughing like that, not because of Oliver. That giggle was so high-pitched and squirrely. I didn’t care for that at all. It felt flirtatious.
I knew before Leena and I even got together that Bring Me The Horizon was one of her favorites, of course Oli being, by extension, one of her favorites. However, she was also a huge Falling in Reverse fan, but she sure didn’t giggle like that around Ronnie.
Ronnie was also not Oli Sykes; a big British brute with a natural sense of seduction, whether he was trying to or not. Regardless, I still did not like that laugh, not when it wasn’t pointed at me.
“Hey, could I borrow her for just a few?”
Oliver nodded, clapping a hand on my shoulder. “Well, of course, man! Listen, I’ve got to get out of here anyways, got to head back to the motherland in the morning. Early flight and all that.”
He reached an arm around me first, pulling me into a tough, tight hug. “So good to see you, mate. Come see me on the other side of the pond some time, right?”
I slapped his back while embracing him. “Of course, man. I appreciate you being here.”
Oli excused himself inside the house, leaving Leena and I stood on the patio, alone.
She smiled brightly at me, but I still had this unnerving itch. She must have noticed my stiff demeanor, because her face fell some and she raised an eyebrow.
“You alright, babe?”
I exhaled. “Yeah, why?”
She took a step back, putting a hand on her hip. “Well, you asked Oliver if you could borrow me? And you look irritated?” Her eyes were soft, which contradicted the sass in her stance.
“Mm.” I sucked my teeth and glanced back toward the house. “How is Oliver?”
Anything soft fell right off her face, her eyebrows scrunching together. She saw right through me.
“He’s great.”
I inhaled deeply.
“What did you need to borrow me for, Noah?”
I looked back at her then, realizing I didn’t have a reason to pull her out of her conversation aside from disliking the way she was touching another man. Running it back in my head, it felt stupid.
“Oh, uh,” I ran a hand over my mouth, thinking. “just wanted to see if you heard from Laura? How Addie’s doing?”
She wasn’t buying it. “Addie’s fine, like she always is with Laura. Last update I got was an hour ago, when I came and found you.”
This wasn’t going well.
“Well, good.” I pulled at the skin of my bottom lip with my teeth.
“Noah?” I looked back at her. “What’s going on?”
Shaking my head, I tried to look clueless. “Nothing, why?”
She crossed her arms. “Cause you’re acting weird.”
Something about her tone, her body language, I couldn’t put my finger on why, but it irritated me. She was feeling up on someone else, and I’m getting questioned?
I mimicked her and folded my own arms over my chest. “I’m not the one acting weird.”
Eyes narrowed at her, I held my face even.
“And how is that?” She didn’t falter. Leena was one of the only women I knew who could give my poker face a run for its money.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Were you not just getting all grabby with Oli?”
Her eyes widened then in disbelief. I knew, because when I heard it come out of my own mouth, I realized that was a pretty big stretch. She grabbed his arm, not his cock.
But still, we were already here, and I wasn’t in a place to back down. Not right now, feeling this attracted to her when she was pissed off.
“Grabby?!” Her voice came out louder than I expected, and I whipped my head around to see if anyone else was outside. “How in the hell was I being grabby with him?”
I rolled my eyes.
“Well, it was pretty clear to me.” I was digging myself a hole, I knew it. So did she, but now she was waving her hands around, and her tits were bouncing in her dress, no confines of a bra. My mouth was watering, so I doubled down. “Was it really necessary to be grabbing his arms like that?”
My tone was cool, which contrasted her face that was now turning a shade of pink with rage. Was I proud? Not exactly… Maybe a little.
She’s so fucking sexy when she’s mad.
“You’ve lost it, you know that?” Her voice was filled with incredulous frustration. She then began trying to walk away, forcing me to reach out and catch one of her wrists in my hand. I was too tired, too depraved. I needed her so badly, but the idea of her being spitting mad at me made it worth the effort. I wanted her so angry that she was damn near ready to rip me apart. The idea made my dick twitch in my slacks.
“Leena,” She looked down at where I held her arm, then looked back at me with narrowed eyes. Oh she was enraged. Excellent. “I-“ I wanted to say sorry, tell her I was being dumb and to go inside and enjoy the party, but I just…couldn’t.
Something in her stare told me she had figured me out, and her eyebrows lowered, her lips twisting up in a menacing grin.
“Are you…jealous?”
I was taken back. Jealous? Of Oli? Nope. Couldn’t be me.
“No.” I said through grit teeth. “I just don’t want you to forget who you belong to.”
That was it. That sent her over the edge. She ripped her arm out of my grip, standing back defensively.
“Belong to? Like a piece of fucking property?”
I didn’t respond, just shrugged.
“You son of a bitch!” Twitch.
“How dare you speak to me that way?! As if you own me?!” Twitch.
“I don’t give a half of a fuck who I’m talking to, or grabbing. You don’t own me.”
Maybe this was going too far. Maybe.
But then she stormed inside, and I was barreling after her. She was already halfway to the staircase when I grabbed Nick by the sleeve on my way after her.
“Everyone out. Now.” No one needed to hear what I was about to get into.
The bedroom door slammed when I was about a foot away. I could hear bodies shuffling out the front door, but I didn’t care. I just burst into the room, not surprised it wasn’t locked.
She stood between the bed and the dresser, fists balled at her sides, baring her teeth. Oh it was lovely, seeing her so fucking hostile. I nearly fell to my knees in front of her, begging her to do whatever she saw fit. I didn’t, however.
Instead, I slipped the door closed and turned the lock carefully behind me. My face was stoic, doing my best to keep my own composure. It was taking every bit of self restraint, but I could feel it faltering. We were going down soon, I could feel it. My brain was sizzling just looking at her.
“I don’t care how much I love you, Noah Sebastian. I will not be treated like a piece of meat.” She was waving a finger at me, manicured and perfect.
I took a step toward her. She didn’t allow me the space to speak.
“I’m not sure where you found all of that fucking audacity, but I will tell you, it is so out of character for you.” Her voice had fallen some.
“Is it?” My words came out low and slow.
She couldn’t believe me. As if I had no idea the inconvenience I had caused her.
“Why would you do that?” Her face was now pulled into something that looked like confusion. “I can’t think of one good reason why you-“
She didn’t get to finish, my control finally slipping through my fingers, and my hands grabbing her and pressing our mouths together. She stilled at first, but when I pressed my tongue against her lips, she melted, her anger being fed through her grasp on me.
Mileena pulled at my blazer, ripping it down my shoulders and tossing it on the bed.
In a moment of absolute primal agitation, she growled at me, which sent every drop of blood in my body down to my crotch.
When her fingers began pulling at the bottom of my shirt, I wrapped my hand in her hair and pulled her backwards. She stared at me, all venom and lust, and snarled. I smiled, licking my lips. It was unbelievable. I used my free hand to rip the front of her dress open, her breasts falling out, and capturing my attention. My hand loosened on her hair, sliding down her face, neck, and reaching for her chest.
She used this opportunity to wrap a hand around my throat, which took me by surprise, my gaze lifting. She was controlling this, which was new.
Her teeth ground together, and her fingers squeezed me, the tips of her sharp acrylics digging into my skin.
“On your fucking knees.”
I scoffed. “Or what?”
Her hand tightened even further, and her other hand came up to grab me by the cock, gripping the fabric of my pants in an almost uncomfortable squeeze.
“Or I walk away, right now.”
That sounded like misery in the highest degree, so, naturally, I sunk down to the floor, sharp eyes glancing up at her. The hand on my neck was now running through my hair. She was looking down at me with an almost loving look on her face.
“You were so fucking mean, you need to make up for it.”
My hand grabbed her ankle just above her heel, sliding up the back of her calf, to her thigh. When my fingertips reached her hip, I noticed something that made me nearly fall backwards. She wasn’t wearing any panties.
Using the slit up the side of her dress skirt, I moved the fabric over to see her, already visibly wet. She loved this as much as I did. I only peered up at her for a split second, seeing she now had her head leaned back, waiting, anticipating.
Catching her off guard, instead of starting slow, building her up, making her whine and beg, I attached myself to her core, drawing a sharp breath out of her.
“Fuck, Noah!” She pulled at my hair, looking down at me while I worked her over, feeling the moisture running down my chin. “Ugh, you look so fucking cute when you do that.”
I raised an eyebrow at her, but didn’t detach. I pulled her one leg so her thigh balanced on my shoulder and dove in deeper, sliding my tongue up and down her folds. I saw her tits bouncing up and down as she bucked into my face.
I settled in, intending to let her finish before I took the reins back, but I was interrupted at her pulling me upward by the hair. The unfamiliar sting on my scalp made me wince, but I still stood up in response.
“Lay the fuck down.” She pushed me down onto the bed. “Pants off.” I smirked at her, not moving an inch. “Now.”
Her voice was terrifying. I began unbuckling my belt, and popped the button open with one hand. She must have been getting impatient, because her hands ripped my pants down and off, her eyes focusing on the bulge in my boxers. I leaned back on my elbows, waiting for her to do whatever she needed to torment me further.
I truly did not expect what she said next.
“Touch yourself.” This confused me.
“What?”
“You fucking heard me.” She jumped up onto the dresser, leaning back against the wall, and let her legs fall open, giving me full view of her. My eyes followed her every move.
I reached down and palmed myself over my underwear, feeling vulnerable.
“C’mon now Sebastian, this is no time to be shy.” This made me actually fucking blush. She was enjoying this way more than I expected.
Hooking my thumbs in the band of my boxers, I carefully slid them down low enough to let myself free. My fingers gently grabbed my dick, tugging at it ever so slightly. The sensation was good, but it wasn’t her.
“That’s it, baby.” She spread her legs, her pussy sitting just above the wood of the dresser, putting herself on full display. “Nice and slow.”
I whimpered. I actually fucking whimpered. It wasn’t lost on her, either, her eyes darting to my face and licking her lips.
“See, Noah? This is what happens when you’re an asshole. You get treated like the fucking brat you are.”
Who the fuck was this girl and how quickly could I lock her in a room and never let her escape?
My hand worked up and down my shaft, my eyes falling closed and my breathing erratic. I could feel myself getting close just thinking about her.
“Stop.” My hand froze, and I opened my eyes, staring at her in defeat. “Don’t come yet.”
I was getting frustrated. “Why the fuck not?”
She sat up, crossing her legs, putting herself away.
“If you don’t wait until I tell you to come, I swear I will put on my sweats, go downstairs, and start cleaning.”
That was the threat that made any confidence I had falter. Once she started cleaning, it was over. She would hyper-focus, and I wouldn’t see her again until the entire house was shining.
I moved my hand off of my cock to resist the temptation and laid flat back on the bed, digging the heels of my palms into my eye sockets.
I stopped when I felt the bed dip on either side of me, and looked up to see her kneeling over me, now fully nude. My heart sped up as I felt her slide herself up and down my shaft, her slick pussy gliding so fucking deliciously. Instinctively, I reached for her hips, but my hand was met with a hard slap, which caused me to pull away.
“Not this time, baby boy.” I groaned, lavishing the feeling of her on me, the weight on my hips excruciatingly divine.
“Now, what do you have to say for yourself?” I looked at her, lost on what she was asking for.
“What?” My voice was a breath, an exhale.
“For treating me so foul?” She pulled back, and grabbed the base of my cock, pulling it forward to line up with her entrance but holding steady as not to let it touch her.
“Ugh, Leena,” I moaned,
My hips trying to buck. She pulled further away as I tried to press into her.
“Say it, Noah.” She demanded.
“Fuck!” My body was screaming, fire coursing through me as she ran her hand up and down, grazing the head. “I’m sorry! Jesus Christ!”
With that, she sunk down, enveloping all of me so fucking perfectly. My eyes snapped shut, trying like hell not to finish just from the edge of it.
“That’s right, honey.” Her voice was a soft moan, her hand coming up to wrap around my throat again as her hips snapped forward. My vision was turning white.
“Now, ask me fucking nicely.”
Wild that she could think I could speak, given she was cutting all my air off. It was unholy, and I loved every fucking second.
I choked, trying to speak, and I felt her fingers loosen slightly.
“Please, baby,” I breathed in hard. “please let me come.”
“Fuck, Noah, you’re so fucking gorgeous.” She let go of my throat, reaching down to circle her clit. I felt her rhythm become unsteady.
“Leena, Jesus fucking Christ, please, baby, please.”
She thrusted faster, her climax coming uncoiled, and I felt her tighten around me.
“Oh, fuck!” She fell forward, wrapping her fingers in my hair.
“Fuck me, Noah. Fuck me, please!” Did I need to be told twice?
My hands gripped her ass and lifted her, slamming my hips up and pounded into her. She still hadn’t told me yet, so I was fighting as hard as I could to hold it together.
“Noah, come for me.” She cooed directly into my ear, her voice so fucking sweet.
I think I may have had a stroke, the sheer velocity of my orgasm ripping out of me. I let out a hard, visceral scream.
Once we were both still, her body laid lazily on top of me, I left soft kisses on her shoulder.
“I really am sorry, baby.”
She chuckled softly. “I know, babe.”
I turned my head to look at her face, looking absolutely exhausted.
“You’re so fucking amazing when you’re angry.”
She lazily lifted her eyebrow. “Did you start a fight just to have angry sex?”
I bit the inside of my cheek. That was probably the better answer.
“Maybe.” I tried to be coy, and she seemed to buy it.
I didn’t know what had come over me in the backyard, or why I got so annoyed with her talking to another man. I’m not like that, I never have been.
But something inside me told me that the feeling was going to get me into trouble.

Hello lovely!! Hope you had a fab time at the game🥰
I have been thinking a lot about our lil slutty Willy interview and have some thoughts swirling…I love a good oblivious Will and that’s why it cracks me up that he said he’ll know when he finds someone worth spending time on! My thought is you and Will have decided not to label anything, started as friends then FWB, but now you’re towing the line of needing to have that what do we want conversion. Then Will does that interview in Sweden and with all the media you start believing that it is in fact a one sided thing plus he’s obviously coming back even more famous, the thought of him wanting you is laughable so you distance yourself - as he said himself, if he found someone he wanted to be with he would know. So Will gets back from the long roadie to your belongings removed from his apartment and it kills him to know you’re hurt by him and your presence in the flat gone, at the next game some of the other WAGs give it to him and it sparks some realization about his words and there’s some feelings he that need to be expressed so he doesn’t lose you so he immediately sets off to your place post game…
Oh bb, thank you, it was so amazing! I absolutely love it 🥰 omg, oblivious!Willy is one of my favourites - and your idea… absolutely mad for it! Let’s face it, Willy’s the most adorable manly man, but he might not always be the sharpest when it comes to feelings - especially his own (I of course have no idea, I don't know him, and this is obv all in my head) 😉 So, of course I had to write a piece, and I really hope you enjoy reading it, as much as I did writing it ❤️

I Needed To Lose You To Love Me
Tumblr media
William Andrew Michael Junior Nylander Altelius - the handsome Swedish lad with multiple names and an incredible talent for hockey.
There he was, flashing a massive grin on his stunning face while casually appearing on a Swedish talk show during the Global Series tour, where the team had been fortunate to play two NHL games in William's hometown: Stockholm.
You couldn't help but smile to yourself, hearing his laughter and noticing his effortlessly cool choice of attire: a white tank top that accentuated his toned torso and showcased his sculpted arms, almost resembling an ideal Ken doll. Oh, the audacity he had to look like that, you thought. If you hadn't had the privilege of touching and feeling his skin and physique, you'd think he was photoshopped.
Yet, despite the pleasant sight of the Swedish hockey star on TV, a tight knot formed in your stomach.
**
Several months back, you and William had transitioned your cherished friendship into something more.
It wasn't initially the plan, but amid the laughter, playful teasing, and banter that sometimes pushed boundaries, it was impossible to ignore the subtle flirtation and electric chemistry between you.
You both had a deep understanding of each other, and with your bond quickly evolving into a close relationship, it came as no shock when you eventually gave in to the enticing temptations and ended up spending a night together. One of many to follow.
And without a doubt, there were no regrets about it.
William wasn't just the most stunning and attractive man with his Greek god-like physique that you'd ever been intimate with; he was also the most attentive and considerate person during sex.
His primary goal was always to ensure your pleasure came first before his own – a non-negotiable rule. Rule number two: if he had the chance to make you reach several orgasms, he'd eagerly pursue it. And as for rule number three, no surface was off-limits for a passionate session. Though it all began in the bedroom, after a couple of months, nearly every available flat surface in both your homes had felt the touch of your skin. And the back seats of his car. Even one time, you almost did it at the rink, but strange noises had interrupted, and you’d decided it was too risky. And lastly, rule number four, arguably the most crucial – there was no room for shame.
Never once did William make you feel self-conscious about your body or anything else. He consistently praised your curvy figure, mentioning the elegance and strength of your legs, complimenting your soft skin, and offering sweet words about your captivating eyes and inviting lips. Even on your most challenging days, William had the knack for making you feel like the goddess he truly believed you were.
God, that Swede sure had a way with words.
But as much as you loved him for it, there was an equal measure of frustration building up within you.
What had started as a close-knit friendship with mind-blowing, no-strings-attached sex was beginning to stir up other emotions. Despite the mutual understanding that both of you had repeatedly mentioned – how comfortable it was to have a close relationship without defining it – you couldn't shake off what it had become.
You spent so much time together that your connection almost naturally transformed into something akin to a relationship. Yet, it never quite crossed that line.
Despite your unwavering support for him after every game, win or lose, staying over at his place several days a week, talking on the phone while he was on the road, the relationship between you seemed to stall, never progressing beyond its current state.
And one day, you realised you had to address the issue head-on.
Though you understood the risk involved – what if William didn't share the same thoughts? Yet, you also acknowledged that avoiding the topic wasn't the solution. You needed clarity about what this was between you and what aspirations, if any, you shared for its future.
You tried once to bring it up.
Softly and tentatively, you had asked, "Hey Willy, do you think maybe we should have a talk about this?"
"What talk?" he replied, clearly unaware of what you meant.
"You know, about where we're at and what we mean to each other?"
"I thought we agreed not to label anything?"
He gave you a puzzled look. There was no anger, annoyance, nor rejection in his expression. The thought just merely hadn't occurred to him.
Feeling disheartened, you withdrew your intentions.
"Oh... yeah, right. Forget I said anything."
And so, once again, you found yourself in emotional turmoil.
So tonight, watching the TV show was definitely emotionally draining.
Throughout this tour, you couldn't help but notice the immense attention William was receiving, and it became increasingly evident how much more famous he would become upon the team's return to Toronto.
Though, you'd always admired how effortlessly grounded and laid-back William remained, the nagging thought persisted that this newfound attention might alter things for him, and perhaps between the two of you.
The mere idea of confessing your deep feelings for him felt almost comical. How could he ever feel the same for you when he was who he was? With everyone competing for his attention, why would he choose you?
And as your mind grappled with its own conclusions, William's words tipped you over the edge when he was questioned about seeking a relationship.
"I'm not actively seeking one at the moment. I'm fully focused on the season ahead. It's a big year, and my attention is solely on that part. When the right person comes, it just happens and I’ll know; it's not something I'm stressing about."
‘When the right person comes.’
Right person.
Those words hit you hard, sinking your heart deep into your chest. You felt a sharp pang, your veins constricted, and your throat tightened.
In that very moment, it became painfully clear – you weren't the right person for him.
***
The Leafs had a fantastic run in Sweden during their Global tour, and naturally, you were ecstatic on their behalf.
However, after hearing William's remarks during the talk show, you made a decision to take a step back and give the both of you some space.
Besides, if he wanted more from your relationship, he would have shown it by now – right?
So, while the team was away on a roadie, you took the opportunity to gather all the items you'd left at his place over the time you spent together. Your clothes in the drawer, bathroom essentials, the line-up of shoes in the hallway – all your belongings.
You chose to create some distance, minimising contact to nearly nothing, allowing him to focus on hockey and whatever else he needed. Simultaneously, it gave you the opportunity to take care of your feelings and your own well-being.
However, your sudden lack of communication didn't escape notice, especially not when William walked into his condo and immediately sensed something was missing.
His bathroom now appeared empty without your items occupying space on the counter. The absence of laundry piled next to the bed, a discussion you'd previously had about who would take care of it, was noticeable. His fridge and snack cupboard stood empty since you hadn't restocked them.
In essence, every little hint of your presence was gone.
William immediately sensed that you were hurt. He knew you well enough to recognise that whenever you felt hurt, you tended to withdraw and focus on sorting through your thoughts.
However, he wasn't entirely certain what had caused it.
Suddenly, all your regular interactions – snapping, texting, sharing Instagram reels, and worst of all, the phone calls – were missing. He hadn't heard from you in almost a week, and he started to worry.
Moreover, he deeply missed you.
It wasn't just the fun you shared; he missed his dear friend and the person he looked forward to seeing at his home. The one he always yearned for after every road trip, the person he longed to touch, kiss, and hold in his arms. You were the one he could open up to about anything, from the highs and lows of hockey to personal talks about his family.
However, you weren’t there.
Understanding your need to seek space when something troubled you, William also maintained his distance. He didn't want to disrupt your need for peace and solitude, yet his thoughts were consumed by the question; what had happened during the tour to prompt your current behaviour?
In fact, he thought about it for the following days, until the next home game against the Panthers.
The game itself ended on a high note with a 2-1 victory, and William had a stellar performance, scoring a goal and adding an assist.
However, despite the positive outcome, his thoughts were elsewhere. You were still absent, not there to cheer alongside the wives and girlfriends as you typically would.
After the game, he still found himself unable to comprehend your behaviour, and as the players exited the locker room to meet their partners just outside, Stephanie couldn't help but notice the distant look in William's gaze.
However, when she asked him about the situation, he was utterly clueless, prompting her to let out a light chuckle.
"You really don't know, do you?” Stephanie offered him a friendly smile.
"What do you mean?" William remained completely unaware.
"She likes you, you dumbass,” Tessa chimed in with a laugh.
"What?"
"Yeah, she's totally into you... can't you see that?" Stephanie explained.
"No... I mean, maybe - I don't know..." William was bewildered.
Sure, you had mentioned something about discussing your relationship, but hadn't you both agreed a long time ago not to label anything? Or had things evolved without either of you realising it?
"Come on, man, she's crazy about you - and let's be real, you're head over heels for her too," Mitch chuckled in agreement.
"But then why distance hersself like this? She's been avoiding me for days…" William questioned, genuinely puzzled.
"Well, maybe it has something to do with what you said on that Swedish talk show - that you weren't seeking a relationship and that if you had met the right person, you'd already know," Stephanie explained, her tone hinting at the underlying issue.
The gears in William's mind were spinning rapidly.
"So, what she heard was…" Tessa tried to drop yet another hint.
"…that I wasn't interested in her because… I would already know," William breathed out heavily.
How could he have been so oblivious?
All this time, you had had feelings for him, wanting more from your relationship, and he hadn't picked up on it.
Moreover, by saying those things, he had inadvertently pushed you away, which explained your recent distance.
It all started to make sense.
William could feel his heart pounding as he dwelled on thoughts of you. He realised just how much he missed you and how deeply he longed to have you close to him. No, he simply couldn't afford to lose you like this. And he knew he had to do something.
"Fuck..." he muttered under his breath before hastily gathering his belongings and practically storming out of the arena.
***
Across the city, you had watched the game alone at home, still grappling with your heartache. And to lift your spirits, you pampered yourself with an indulgent at-home spa and self-care day.
While relaxing on your sofa with your favourite snacks and drinks, you attempted to distract yourself by watching your favourite comedy TV show. However, just as the episode was hitting its peak, it was abruptly interrupted by insistent knocking at your front door.
Despite not feeling up to seeing anyone at that moment, curiosity got the better of you, and with each successive knock, you reluctantly dragged yourself up from the sofa and walked steadily towards the door.
Swinging it open, your eyes widened in surprise as you found William standing there, slightly leaning against the door frame with one arm.
There was a moment of pausing between you, with you being taken aback by his unexpected appearance and William grappling to find the right words.
This was his moment to express his true feelings, to keep you from slipping away. However, before he could gather his thoughts, you broke the silence.
"Willy, what are you doing here?" Your voice quivered slightly, tears welling up in the corners of your eyes, as you struggled to contain your emotions.
William's expression portrayed nothing but sincerity and concern, his eyes showing genuine worry as he gently parted his lips to respond.
"I... I can't lose you," he whispered almost inaudibly.
"Willy..."
Interrupting you, he took a step closer, gently cupping your cheeks with his large hands as he drew nearer, your breaths mingling despite the difference in height.
He stood there, pulling you close, your gazes locking in a deep blue ocean.
"I'm sorry, I fucked up – I... I want you. I want us to be more than just friends."
"But you said –"
"I know what I said – but I was an idiot... I was too blind to see that you were right here, in front of me... y/n, you're everything I've ever wanted."
Initially hesitant to trust his words, as he continued to hold you tightly, showing no indication to let go, you began to believe in the sincerity behind his words.
Your eyes darted around, seeking any signs of dishonesty, but as they remained locked onto his, you found no trace of falsehood.
William was speaking the truth from his heart, and you wholeheartedly believed him.
In that moment, the only thing left to do was to lean up, meeting him halfway. Closing the distance between you, you connected your lips in a heartfelt moment filled with love.

putting this under a readmore because it ended up getting REALLY long-winded BUT. thoughts on tybalt vs. tank in terms of characterization. similarities, differences, yada yada yada. also some thoughts on the capp family as a whole.
(warning for discussion of internalized homophobia and toxic masculinity, but that's kind of par for the course when it comes to talking about tank in particular.)
tybalt and tank are really interesting because like. on the surface they seem really similar (like i mentioned before — gay eldest brothers of three who are deeply, deeply maladjusted from being used as a pawn in their families’ respective Problems). and i think that because of that, it’s easy to fall into the pitfall of just making them Essentially The Same Guy. (i don’t blame people for doing that! as i just said, they’re pretty similar guys.)
i know a lot of people (myself included) characterize tank as being a very repressed gay guy with a lot of internalized homophobia. that guilt compounds with his desire to make his dad happy by being, you know, A Tough Guy. buzz has already given up on ripp, and i honestly think he forgets buck exists sometimes. (the PSP game sure did.) tank is buzz’s last chance to have a “normal” son who follows in his footsteps by getting a wife and kids and idk, dying in a war or something? so there’s an immense amount of pressure for tank to be buzz 2.0 (AKA world’s straightest nuclear family having man).
except, obviously, tank isn’t built for that. he’s gay. he likes getting creative with his facepaint (or at least he did before buzz told him off for it). he wants to do ballet. he has five nice points, whereas buzz only has two.
tybalt, on the other hand, is not operating on NEARLY as many layers of internalized homophobia and toxic masculinity as tank is. what he IS operating on, however, is capp emotional repression. there’s a lot in game to suggest that most (if not all) of the capp marriages were arranged — goneril and regan aren’t in love with their respective spouses (nor are their respective spouses in love with them), and regan specifically never has been. the way the capp family is structured makes the concept of… courtship, i guess? into more of a transaction of status than anything emotional.
even if the concept of arranged marriages isn’t something that applies to tybalt specifically (and it may not be — kent is our only example of an adult male capp descendant, and he’s not married either), i feel like the concept of swallowing your true feelings for the sake of your family’s status is something that’s pretty pervasive among the capps. that’s part of what makes juliette’s relationship with romeo so scandalous. it’s not JUST because he’s a monty (although that is the primary reason) — it’s also expected that she marries someone who would bolster her own reputation, not just A Guy She’s In Love With.
anyways. tybalt is emotionally repressed, but that's less because he's gay and more because he's a capp. he isn't normal about the fact that he's gay, but that's just because he isn't normal about anything. he feels guilty about pursuing his own relationships because he feels like his whole life should be focused on his allegiance to the capp family (and, by extension, the capp-monty feud). he's invested so much time and energy into upholding his family's ideals (he maxed out his fucking body skill before even becoming an adult, for one. this guy's got problems) that it's become his whole identity.
why does tybalt care so much? memories between the three capp siblings are, as always, inconsistent, but i'm of the opinion that tybalt was the only one old enough to really Remember the fire that killed their parents. the capp siblings subsequently being taken in and raised by consort (who is arguably the most invested in the capp-monty feud) had a profoundly negative impact on tybalt's development, similarly to how the loss of lyla as a voice of reason had a profoundly negative impact on tank's. consort believed that the monty family was somehow responsible for the fire that killed cordelia and caliban, an idea he ended up passing on to his grandchildren.
juliette and hermia, being too young to fully remember the fire and therefore less blinded by a need for revenge, were able to see past that and see that it was kind of bullshit — the capp manor is an old house (so old that it doesn't even have showers), so the fire was almost certainly an accident. tybalt, on the other hand, is very reliant on authority figures to tell him what to believe (another trait he shares with tank), and all of a sudden consort is the only authority figure in his life. if cordelia (who was implied to be against the capp-monty feud by way of contessa's bio) had lived and remained a voice of reason in tybalt's life, he may have turned out differently... at least in terms of his opinion on the capp-monty feud. (i think that, unlike tank, he's kind of an angry dude no matter what. he has two nice points.)
back to tank. unlike tybalt, a lot of his guilt DOES stem specifically from the fact that he's gay — and, of course, that guilt ends up feeding into his anger and some sort of inferiority complex. he wants to be the perfect son so bad, but the fact that he's gay is (in both his eyes and his dad's) something that stands in the way of that. if he just Stops Being Gay, maybe everything else in his life will fall into place. (it won't, but he doesn't know that.) i think that in order to unlearn that internalized homophobia and self-hatred, he has to distance himself from buzz first. i'd like to think that he ends up doing that eventually, but i'm also not sure if it's realistic — he gets his camouflage facepaint tattooed sometime between the PC and DS versions, and that particular facepaint design is something buzz approved of. (i'm looping back to the "creativity with his facepaint" secret because it makes me sad.)
tank being shitty to ripp is an extension of his need for his father's approval (although that's less 'my interpretation' and more just. actually canon, i think). part of it is him mimicking what he's seen buzz do, but part of it is a subconscious jealousy that ripp is brave enough to rebel against their shitty dad. the ever-present toxic masculinity in tank's brain tells him that he has to be a brave person, but on at least some level he knows that ripp is braver than him — ripp, who paints his nails and wears smudged dollar-store eyeliner, is being a hell of a lot more courageous than tank, who is decked out in camouflage from head to toe because it makes his dad happy. and that's something that won't leave tank's mind, no matter how much he would never admit it.
anyways. tank and tybalt. if they ever met (which i think is unlikely — tybalt lives somewhere italy-adjacent and tank is in like. new mexico), i'm not sure if they would be friends. it really depends on what stage of their lives they were at (i think they'd hate each other as teenagers because they're so similar). i think there would be something else there, though. some sort of acknowledgement. a recognition of the self through the other.

@larsulrichburneracc and a handful of anon's who took the the x-coded, y girl west wing quiz asked for me to elaborate on the hot take about leo being the show's go-to antagonist so here's my semi-coherent thoughts on the subject lmao
(ty all for taking it and thinking about it, it means a lot <3)
Basically I think that Leo, unlike the rest of the staff, doesn’t actually have a defined code of character. Josh has ideals and you can anticipate how he’d react to a situation based on those, same goes for Jed or CJ or Toby or Donna or or or or pretty much anyone else. But Leo is different. He doesn’t have his own perspective- he’s simply reactive to those around him.
He’s the first to say “no”, the anchor to Jed’s idealism, the strong hand to reel in Josh, the devil’s advocate to CJ, etc. I understand that this characterization was deliberate, but I find it troublesome because it means Leo changes on a whim based on plot needs.
And what the plot needs more often than not is for a member of staff to put the brakes on the momentum of whatever pie in the sky bill/policy they’re going for. Further, he’s the presumptive roadblock for any initiative, regardless of where it falls on the liberal-center-conservative spectrum. We can anticipate CJ will resist policy that's brushing up against women's rights. We know Josh will fight anything that compromises too willingly with Republicans. We know Sam will fight anything that's the popular option but not the ethically right one. But with Leo, he pretty much rejects anything that comes his way just for the sake of it.
Just two examples I thought of off the top of my head of senseless antagonism:
In the Woman of Qumar, he’s completely unsympathetic to CJ’s significant concern about selling tanks and guns to a country that's regularly executing women. I went up and found the literal script direction which is → Leo makes a hand gesture like 'What do you want me to say?'. which is just like WHAT? If that was Jed, he’d go into a whole “ends justifies the means” thing. If it was Josh, he’d go into a whole “the world is awful why do we have to be the only ones held accountable”. Etc. but Leo just has nothing to say.
Throughout the entire shutdown Leo is just ????, he’s completely weak-willed and over eager to take the bullshit Republican deal and then fires Josh for being the straw that broke the camel’s back on that one Dem that flipped Republican, as if that senator wasn’t obviously just waiting for an excuse to flip. Not very “man in the hole” of Leo in that moment to completely sack Josh in a complete overreaction for a room that was on fire long before Josh walked in.
Leo’s lack of definable character makes him the easiest avenue for conflict within the staff. It’s an easy sell that he’d disagree with Sam’s solving cancer push, with Toby’s college tax credit, with CJ’s reluctance to lie, or with Josh’s literally anything because he disagrees with everything, just for the sake of it (read: cause the plot demands it). We know who Josh is, we know how he thinks and how he feels, and as an audience we can make assumptions based on how he’d react. We can recognize when he’s not himself in Noel because we know him.
Throughout my multiple viewings of tww, I personally feel as though I’ve never learned who Leo is beyond his alcoholism, his loyalty to Jed, and his inclination to roadblock literally anything that lands on his desk. This isn’t nearly as throughout or articulate as I’d like it to be but it’s 1:00am LOL but yeah
TLDR; Leo’s a blank slate character that is molded to whatever the plot demands which is typically unneeded and irrational tension/contrarianism with zero justification. And it fucking annoys me LMAO
okay that's just my take :) sorry if you read this long and he's your fav, i just can't stand reactive characters because there's no point in doing meta on them because everything is in character when there's no parameters to confine yourself to LOL

A Brief History of Neoliberalism  #2
Here's the second post in which I summarize and discuss David Harvey's A Brief History of Neoliberalism. In this post, you'll learn:
how a specific group of people plotted to advance neoliberal theory and ideology
how the U.S. created the Iraqi and Chilean governments to benefit the wealthy
the historical events that led to the adoption of neoliberal policies
how the Darkest Timeline emerged, as the 1% started to consolidate political and economic power
Please feel free to ask any questions. This post is longer than the previous one and this material is a lot to take in.
Chapter 1: Freedom’s Just Another Word...
The founding figures of neoliberalism specifically aimed for neoliberal thought to become dominant. In order to do this, they advanced a “conceptual apparatus,” as Harvey puts it, that appeals to our intuitions, instincts, values, and desires.
They aligned their theory closely with "political ideals of human dignity and individual freedom." These were, of course, threatened "by all forms of state intervention that substituted collective judgements for those of individuals free to choose.”
So who were these founders? In 1947, Austrian political philosopher Friedrich von Hayek and a group of advocates (including Ludvig von Mises and Milton Friedman) created the Mont Pelerin Society. They called themselves neoliberals after liberalism, in the traditional European sense, because of their (supposed) commitment to personal freedom, and neoclassical economics from the 19th century.
In the 1970s, advocates of neoliberalism aimed to garner financial and political support, such as in think tanks and academia (most notably, the University of Chicago). The theory also gained credibility "by the award of the Nobel Prize in economics to Hayek in 1974 and Friedman in 1976."
The Creation of Neoliberal States
According to Harvey, a neoliberal state is "a state apparatus whose fundamental mission [is] to facilitate conditions for profitable capital accumulation on the part of both domestic and foreign capital."
The promotion of "freedom" was used as a key justification for invading Iraq by President Bush. However, Bush had no intention of actually promoting the well-being of the Iraqi people. In 2003, Paul Bremer, head of the Coalition Provisional Authority, promulgated orders for "full privatization of public enterprises, full ownership rights by foreign firms of Iraqi businesses, elimination of nearly all trade barriers" and more. However, the labor market was strictly regulated. Strikes were forbidden in key sectors and the right to unionize restricted.
Some argued these orders violated the Geneva Conventions, "since an occupying power is mandated to guard the assets of an occupied country and not sell them off." However, "they would become legal if confirmed by a ‘sovereign’ government." The interim government appointed by the US was given the power to only confirm the existing laws, not edit them for the benefit of the Iraqi people.
We've seen this creation of a neoliberal state under the "coercive influence of the U.S." before. This famously happened for the first time in Chile in 1973, when Augusto Pinochet enacted a coup against the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende. This coup was backed not only by "domestic business elites threatened by Allende’s drive towards socialism" but also by U.S. corporations and the CIA.
This coup violently repressed and dismantled leftist social movements and popular organizations, such as community health centers. Pinochet then brought Chicago-trained economists into the government. Since the '50s, the U.S. had funded training of Chilean economists there "as part of a Cold War programme to counteract left-wing tendencies in Latin America." These economists "privatized public assets" and "opened up natural resources to private and unregulated exploitation." They also facilitated direct foreign investment.
Why the Neoliberal Turn?
After WWII, the aim of the "restructuring of state forms and of international relations" was to "prevent a return to the catastrophic conditions that had so threatened the capitalist order in the great slump of the 1930s." The new post-WWII states all accepted that "the state should focus on full employment, economic growth, and the welfare of its citizens, and that state power should be freely deployed, alongside of or, if necessary, intervening in or even substituting for market processes to achieve these ends.”
Keynesian policies were widely deployed to meet these goals. States regulated industry and constructed welfare systems, including healthcare, education, etc. State-led planning and even ownership of specific sectors were not uncommon. "This form of political-economic organization is now usually referred to as ‘embedded liberalism'," and it delivered high rates of economic growth in the '50s and '60s.
However, by the end of the '60s, problems emerged. Unemployed and inflation surged, causing "stagflation" well into the '70s.
One potential solution was to "deepen state control and regulation of the economy." "The left assembled considerable popular power behind such programmes," even in the U.S., where even Republican President Nixon oversaw a wave of regulatory reform, including creating the EPA. There was an "emergence of a socialist alternative to the social compromise between capital and labour" and "popular forces were agitating for widespread reforms and state interventions." This was obviously a threat to ruling elites.
Elites were also threatened by reduced economic growth in the ‘70s. U.S. control of wealth by the 1% plunged during this decade. Implementation of neoliberal policies in the ‘70s, such as deregulation under President Carter, helped the income and wealth of the 1% so much that some writers "have concluded that neoliberalization was from the very beginning a project to achieve the restoration of class power." "...Increasing social inequality [has] in fact been such a persistent feature of neoliberalization as to be regarded as structural to the whole project."
However, keen observers of American politics in the past couple of decades will note that there's often a tension or outright clash between actual neoliberal theory and what neoliberal politicians implement. There is even a tension within neoliberalism itself. For example, distrust of the state's intervention sits alongside the need for a coercive state that will enforce private property rights. Harvey says, "when neoliberal principles clash with the need to restore or sustain elite power, then the principles are either abandoned or become so twisted as to be unrecognizable."
Harvey concludes that the "theoretical utopianism" of neoliberal theory, meaning all that talk about human freedom and individual liberty, "primarily worked as a system of justification and legitimation for whatever needed to be done to achieve" the restoration of class power after the crisis of the 70s.
The Reagan Administration
Reagan's presidency was preceded by "the Volcker shock" in 1979. Paul Volcker, chairman of the US Federal Reserve Bank under President Carter, promoted "a policy designed to quell inflation no matter what the consequences might be for employment." This was in contrast to Keynesian policies that aimed for full employment. By steeply raising interest rates, Volcker jumpstarted a recession "that would empty factories and break unions in the US and drive debtor countries to the brink of insolvency."
Reagan himself, starting with the 1981 air traffic controllers' strike, began an "all-out assault on the powers of organized labour at the very moment when the Volcker-inspired recession was generating high levels of unemployment (10% or more)." This began the long decline in wages, and was accompanied by massive deregulation in many industries and huge tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy—the top personal tax rate was reduced from 70% to 28%.
A series of events had begun in the '70s which came to a head in the '80s. The OPEC oil crisis of 1973 led to Middle Eastern oil-producing states being pressured militarily by the U.S. to funnel their wealth through New York investment banks. These banks needed new outlets for this influx of funds, and turned their predatory gaze towards foreign governments.
Previously, the U.S. exerted military pressure on various nations to meet its own financial needs, and primarily exploited raw material resources or cultivated specific markets. However, the New York investment banks became more active internationally by lending capital to foreign governments. Developing nations were "encouraged to borrow heavily... at rates that were advantageous to the New York bankers."
However, since the loans were in U.S. dollars, any rise in U.S. interest rates "could easily push vulnerable countries into default," leaving the banks exposed to huge losses. This was proved when the Volcker shock drove Mexico into default in 1982. Reagan's administration oversaw the pioneering of structural adjustment, in which the IMF, World Bank, and other lenders rolled over debt in return for the debtor countries implementing neoliberal reforms, such as cuts in welfare, privatization, and reduction of labor protections.
Remember that tension between neoliberal theory and practice, though? If free market principles were truly implemented, then the lenders would be on the hook for the loss if their borrowers default. They took the risk of lending, so it's their problem. However, in this case, borrowers are forced by the U.S. to repay their debts no matter the consequences for the well-being of their people.
The Meaning of Class Power
"While neoliberalization may have been about the restoration of class power, it has not necessarily meant the restoration of economic power to the same people." There are several trends under neoliberalism that reorganized what it meant to be part of the upper class.
First is the fusion of ownership and management of companies, for example, CEOs being paid in stock options. Stock values are then prioritized rather than production. Second is the reduction of the gap between capital earning dividends/interest and production/manufacturing. Large corporations became more financial in their orientation. An example of this is car companies opening departments to finance car purchases, instead of simply making cars. Mergers helped spur this trend, creating larger and larger diversified conglomerates.
There were also new innovations in financial services, creating "new kinds of financial markets based on securitization, derivatives, and all manner of futures trading." "Neoliberalization has meant, in short, the financialization of everything." Finance's tentacles became embedded in all areas of the economy as well as the state, and companies became more profitable not through gains in manufacturing, but through increased financial services.
All of these changes allowed "new processes of class formation to emerge," for example, the creation of tech millionaires and billionaires who got newly rich on new technologies, as well as newly acquired wealth through creation of conglomerates.

Growing Pains
relationship: Steve Rogers/Original Female Character/Bucky Barnes (very generic OC — no detail used aside from the pronouns she/her) rating: Explicit warnings: Dark Steve Rogers, Dark Bucky Barnes, non-con/dub-con elements breeding, somnophilia, drugging, kidnapping, yandere style prompts: “See? It’s not as uncomfortable as it could be, right?” ||  “Look, this is for the best. You don’t understand now, but you will.” ||  “This’ll make us closer, I promise. Just hold still.”
Tumblr media
prompts requested by the lovely @o-luthien!! i hope its not too rough! i’m still happy to take prompts rn if anyone’s interested!
She'd laughed it off at first, when Steve mentioned having children. They'd been dating for just over a month-- the sporadic, Are You Busy Right This Moment sort of dating that came with being a superhero. Her job was flexible, she made her own hours most of the time anyway, so she was able to say yes about 90% of the time. He always made it worth it too, the dates somehow spontaneous and yet still well thought out with her interests in mind. They'd been to museums and aquariums, a Broadway show, and the botanical gardens when he'd brought it up at dinner one evening. It was a late night, post movie dinner at a sushi place in Manhattan. The atmosphere was lovely even in the late hour and she'd had a couple of drinks with their meal. She'd been lucky to still have her wits about her when he dropped the "we'll have beautiful kids" bomb. A quick laugh and a joke about how he shouldn't be worrying about kids in his advanced age had been enough to side step the awkward conversation.
Steve had been born a century ago, when young adults their age where usually already married with a gaggle of kids. It wasn't his fault that social ettique had changed or that it was considered extremely outlandish to mention children so early in a relationship. He probably had no idea it was so weird, after all he'd mentioned he hadn't seriously dated anyone since waking up. She'd successfully passed it off, anyway, so there was no point in dwelling on it. It didn't come up again until about 6 months later, when Steve found Bucky.
He'd admitted that his best friend had also been his lover in the past, that the tragedy of losing Bucky had literally been too much to take and had driven him into the arctic. She was okay with it, understood the taboo of their time and the secrecy they'd had to operate under. It had been, well, painful when Steve pulled back of course, but she understood why. That was his Bucky. It was something precious and worth salvaging, rebound relationship be damned.
So when Steve had shown up on her doorstep, Bucky in tow, at 4 PM on a Wednesday and asked to talk, she was anticipating a break up speech. She’d invited them in and made them coffee, trying to ignore the way Bucky looked at her. There was no deciphering the expression on his face; she couldn’t tell if he hated her for dating (and sleeping with) his boyfriend, if he felt guilty that he was stealing her chance with Steve, or if he even felt anything at all. The brunet was a closed box, spoke very few words, and watched her like a hawk the entire time.
She’d nearly dropped her coffee right into her lap when Steve had asked if she’d be okay with him dating both of them, because he loved Bucky and he was coming to love her and he just couldn’t choose. It had been easy to say yes, to tell him she didn’t mind. Steve’s happiness meant something to her, it had become important to her over the half a year they’d been dating. The three way dates had been weird at first, she hadn’t anticipated that Steve and Bucky would want her to join on their dates, but after a month or two she got used to it. She and Bucky had a lot in common, they fell into an easy and affectionate friendship while both getting banged 9 ways to Sunday by Steve. The first date she’d gone on with just Bucky had been strange but lovely and if they all ended up dating each other, what was the harm?
But then the children thing came up again. ‘The first one should be Bucky’s, he’s always wanted babies, you know?’ ‘I hope one of them is blond like Stevie, with those pretty eyes of yours.’ She continued to pass it off the best that she could, ducking and squirming out of conversations about babies. It was about the one year mark with Steve, the 6 month-ish mark with Bucky that she realized she had to reevaluate their relationship. Obviously, they wanted something different out of life than she did. They wanted a white picket fence and a whole herd of children, and that hadn’t even made it onto her list of ‘not ideal but liveable life scenarios’.
The night she planned to break up with them came upon her so much faster than she’d anticipated. It was going to hurt, on multiple levels. She really and truly loved them, but there was no way that she could continue dating them when their life goals were so incompatible. It felt like leading them on and that was cruel. So, she slipped into a casual pair of jeans and a tank top with a cardigan over top and headed to the cafe they generally spent time in if they didn’t want to truly do something for a date. Her winter gear kept her pleasantly warm even when the sun had gone down, but there was a frigid trickle down her back.
The walk wasn’t far, but the goosebumps rising over her skin gave her pause as she walked. Her hand immediately dove into her pocket, gloves slipping around her phone for a second before she managed to pull it out and unlock it. In general, she wasn’t the type to be jumpy or nervous when walking alone in the evenings, but she was the kind of girl who trusted her instincts. And her instincts told her something was wrong.
Bucky’s number was the first on the ‘most recent' screen for her contacts list and she hit dial without hesitation. When it rang out without an answer, she tried Steve’s only to receive the same results. They were most likely already at the cafe, phones on silent because their traditional ideals told them that being on their phones during a date was rude. Usually she found that cute and endearing, but tonight it meant they didn’t realize she really needed their attention.
Of course, she wasn’t in any danger. Well, in the minds of the soldiers she wasn’t in any danger. They’d never let anything happen to her. Watching from the shadows as she redialed Steve’s number, the pair smiled. She knew that they were who she needed to call in an emergency, she knew they would take care of her. When she started running down the block, Bucky stayed carefully behind her while Steve went on ahead to the cafe; there needed to be someone there to greet her when she arrived, but they also needed to make sure she arrived safely.
She had to stop herself outside of the cafe and take a deep breath, to try and calm herself before she went inside. Obviously, she’d worked herself up for no reason and the panic was sitting just underneath her rib cage, pounding along with her heart. Seeing Steve through the window was what allowed her breathing to calm; she was safe as long as Steve was just a few steps away. He stood up as soon as he saw her walk through the door, a brilliant smile on his face as always. It was difficult to force herself not to run over and throw her arms around him, to explain how frightened she’d been on the walk to the cafe. She reminded herself that she was there to break up with them.
Oh, fuck, she was there to break up with them. In the cafe they all loved so much. Was she a monster? Was wanting to break up over not wanting children stupid? Wasn’t the point of dating people to find someone (or someone’s, in her case) that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with? Because she’d like to spend the rest of her life with them. But, children. They were cute from afar, babies were precious and they had that lovely smell but she didn’t want any.
“Hey beautiful,” the blond greeted when she arrived at his side, sweeping her into a gentle hug, “you look out of breath.”
“Oh, I was just walking a bit fast I guess,” she waved off the concern and glanced towards the counter with a furrowed brow, “I thought Bucky would be here already?”
“He’s in the restroom,” Steve gestured towards the hallway before helping her out of her coat, “I already got you a tea. Did you want something to eat?”
“No, no, I’m not really hungry.” In fact, her stomach felt like lead and she wanted to throw up.
Steve ushered her into the booth before sitting beside her, unintentionally trapping her in which was going to make the following conversation very uncomfortable, “are you sure baby? Did you already eat dinner? You don’t need to be skipping meals, if you lose any weight you’ll disappear on me.”
A small smile cracked her lips and she shook her head, eyes carefully scanning over Steve’s face. He was so handsome, he would make incredibly beautiful babies with whoever he chose. It just couldn’t be her, and that hurt. She was shaken out of her small daydream by Bucky sliding into the booth across from her, leaning up and over the table as he did so that the brunet could press a quick kiss to her lips.
“Hey sweetheart,” he greeted with a smile, nose brushing hers.
The warmth that filled her chest was tinged with grief as she sat back, “hey Buck.”
“What did you need to talk about baby?” Steve questioned once they were settled, his arm coming to rest over her shoulders.
Her lead stomach somehow grew heavier and she took a sip of her tea. Steve always knew exactly how to fix it up for her but it tasted like ash in her mouth, sticking to her tongue and coating her throat like cement. The anxiety was crushing and she hated that it would ruin the last cup of tea Steve ever made her.
“Baby, what’s the matter?” The blond pressed, a frown coming over his face as he shifted closer.
“I… I’ve been thinking, uhm, a lot recently,” she murmured, eyes focused on the cup in her hands.
“Okay…” Bucky prompted gently when she didn’t continue and she found herself taking a giant sip of tea to put off having to answer for just a moment— it was going to hurt.
“You guys… you guys deserve everything you’ve ever wanted, you know? You’ve gone through so much and you do so much for other people…” she took another sip of tea, finger nails clicking against the ceramic, “I know that you want kids. You’ll make amazing fathers, you know? And you’ve earned the right to happiness in this life, I think, so you should be able to have all the babies you want. But I… I don’t want kids. I’ve never wanted kids, even when I was little. The idea of being pregnant makes me want to throw up and raising children sounds like a nightmare.”
 “Sweetheart—”
“Wait, Bucky, please,” she pleaded quietly, “let me finish? I don’t want kids and you guys do, so badly and I can’t get in the way of your future. I think… I think we need to stop seeing each other.”
“Don’t you think you’re being a bit rash, baby?” Steve asked, eyebrows of disappoint in full effect, “we haven’t even discussed children.”
“Are you telling me you don’t want kids, Steve? That you’d be perfectly fine with never having any children? Because I know that’s a lie,” another small sip of tea was meant to steady her but just left her feeling overheated and heavy, “it’s not fair for me to keep you both wrapped up when I have no intention of having children.”
Steve opened his mouth but shut it again without saying anything, picking up the coffee he’d been drinking and taking a gulp. Across the table Bucky was doing the same with his tea and she sighed heavily before finishing off her cup.
“Can you let me out, Steve? I think I’m gonna head home,” she requested quietly, settling her cup back on the saucer.
“No baby, you stay there,” the blond answered with a sigh, carding his hand through her hair while holding her against his side, “the drugs we put in your tea will finish working in just a minute or two.”
Her head snapped towards him, hair flying around her face in a flurry, “what?! Steve what the fuck?!”
She attempted to press away from him, but her arms were starting to take on the same heavy feeling as her stomach. Her head was too, actually, now that she thought about it. The tea had tasted off but she’d been sure it was just her anxiety, that the lethargy sitting in her bones was just a result of the overwhelming sadness of having to break things off with the men she loved. She hadn’t considered that the heat boiling beneath her skin was anything but panic.
“Look, this is for the best. You don’t understand now, but you will.”
“Oh my God,” she muttered, her mouth beginning to feel cotton-y, “wha...what..”
“I’ve had your apartment bugged since we started dating, baby,” Steve stated casually, “you talk to yourself a lot. We’ve known you were thinking about breaking it off for a couple of months now.”
“We’ve thought a lot about it and we just can’t let you, sweetheart. You’re too important to us,” Bucky added, the image of him swimming as her eyes started to blur, “you’ll get used to the idea of babies once you start having them, I promise.”
“S-Someone, help…” the words were barely a hoarse whisper, heat climbing through her body like a fire, “help me..”
“Shh, we’re going to help you baby,” Steve cooed in her ear, lips grazing her skin, “just go to sleep now.”
She woke up to moaning and pleasure, an orgasm rocketing through her with incredible intensity. Above her, Steve was still going strong. His massive form looked just as beautiful above her as it always did. There was something incredibly erotic about them fucking her while she slept, about being dragged out of her dreams by an orgasm rocking her out of control. Her arms were bound to the headboard, a usual occurrence, and Bucky was sitting to her left, cock in hand.
“Morning sweetheart, how’re you feelin’?” The brunet purred, reaching his unused hand out to stroke through her hair.
“Ohhh,” she moaned as Steve hiked her legs farther up over his hips, pelvis grinding into her clit with each thrust, “ohhh fuuuuck…”
“Yeah? Is Stevie making you feel good?” Bucky smirked, his hand traveling down to her tits, “look how big they’ve gotten Steve.”
“Gonna be nice and full for our babies,” he responded with a grunt, fingers digging into her hips.
Babies. Her memory returned with a vengeance; the cafe, the break up speech, being drugged. She screeched, yanking on the handcuffs locking her to the headboard. Her legs kicked out futilely, Steve’s grasp on her waist keeping her soundly in place. His cock was massive and he was pounding her like he was on a mission.
“Did you notice the changes over the last few months?” Bucky asked calmly, still touching her face even as she tried to move away, “we had to give you enough drugs to counteract the effects of the birth control shot you got earlier in the year. The fertility stuff has all the upsides, you know? Watching your tits grow was my favourite part, but Stevie liked how it filled you out. This is a perfect weight for you, sweetheart, especially while you’re having babies.”
“Oh my God, get off of me!” Her voice came out as a screech, still yanking against the bonds around her wrists, “get off!”
“Based on the timeline we’ve been going off of and the stuff we gave you last night, you should be ovulating for the next couple of days,” Bucky came to kneel next to her head, grabbing both of her hands to keep her from bruising herself on the restraints, “calm down, sweetheart, let Steve finish and then it's my turn again.”
“Love watching you fuck her,” Steve muttered to his boyfriend, continuing to pound her cunt while leaning over to kiss him, “I swear I can feel your cum in her pussy.”
“Nah, that monster cock pushed all of mine out,” Buck reached down, swiping his hand over where they were connected and bringing it back up covered in cum, “fill her back up Stevie. Open your mouth, sweetheart.”
She tried to refuse but he tutted at her, using his clean hand to plug her nose. He smiled when she ran out of breath, mouth opening in a gasp and he pressed his cum coated fingers between her lips, stroking her tongue.
Steve groaned at the sight, “Buck, move for a sec, would’ya?”
The brunet shifted and Steve pulled back, cock slipping out of her with a short whine. He’d always been vocal while they fucked, not so much in words but in noises. He grunted and groaned and moaned and she used to relish the sounds, the idea that she could make Captain America make noises like that. But now, as he grabbed her hips and turned her onto her stomach, making her wrists cross in her bonds, she hated the noises. It was disgusting how much he was enjoying himself.
“Here we go baby,” he murmured, carefully manipulating her onto her knees while her torso remained stretched out over the head of the bed, Bucky simultaneously turning her head so her cheek rested on a pillow, gently moving her hair out of her face, “gotta get my cum nice and deep in there.”
“Please stop,” she whimpered, tears pressing at the backs of her eyes, “Steve, please—”
“Shhh, you’re alright baby, you’re okay,” one hand rubbed circles into the small of her back, the other guiding his cock back to her weeping cunt, “almost done and then you can rest for a minute. We might’a put your little pussy through the wringer while you were asleep.”
There was no telling how many times they’d cum in her while she’d been drugged. She had no idea how long she’d been out, the black out curtains were pulled over the windows and she couldn’t see a clock from her position. It might not even have been the same evening, the same day. Bucky’s hand came to rest on her ass, a gentle caress making goosebumps rise on her skin.
“I’m gonna miss fucking your pretty ass sweetheart,” the brunet stated with a regretful look, “but we can’t waste anything in your asshole until you’re pregnant.”
“Won’t be long,” Steve grunted, tucking his hand under her waist and rubbing his fingers over her clit, “we’ll just need a bit more lube than usual.”
“Don’t, Steve,” she sobbed, “Don’t do this to me—”
“This’ll make us closer, I promise. Just hold still,” the blond gave a low hum under his break, movements become sharper and thrusts more brutal, “here we go, baby, here we go.”
 “No! Don’t—”
Her shout was disrupted by him moaning her name, burying himself deep one more time before releasing his load. Her skin pressed nearly seamlessly to his pelvis, only shifting as he gave several small, abrupt thrusts. The rough movements pounded her clit and she came a few seconds after him. She’d known in the back of her head, that the serum had done something to their physiology. Their refractory periods were insane, the sheer volume of cum they made didn’t seem possible. Now, she wondered how strong their swimmers were and how effective the drugs they gave her would be.
“That’s so good baby,” Steve moaned quietly, laying his back over hers and gently stroking the hand not holding up his weight over her stomach gently, “so good for me.”
“Come on, Stevie, on her back,” Bucky’s tone was just as soft, his hands brushing over both of his lovers gently as he watched the blond pull his softening cock from her pussy and helped him turn her onto her back, “let me grab some pillows.”
The blond carefully lifted her legs, tucking her knees up close to her chest and tilting her pelvis back. Bucky tucked the pillows under her waist to keep her hips canted up, to support her back more than to hold her in position.
“Now, you gotta stay like this for the next fifteen or so minutes, baby,” Steve instructed as he climbed off the bed, Bucky taking hold of her legs, and grabbing a damp towel from the end table to wipe himself clean, “you’ve gotta give our babies the best chance.”
“You’re fucking crazy,” she hissed after a moment, forcing herself not to make any noises that might sound like crying, “both of you. I’m going to get an abortion the sec—”
“The second you can, we figured you’d say that,” Bucky laughed, thumbing brushing over her skin absently, “that’s why we’re not gonna give you the opportunity, sweetheart. We figure doctors still make house calls, we’ll have all of your prenatal care done here and you’ll have the baby here too. Maybe once you’ve had a couple of kids you can start going out by yourself again.”
“Let go!” The words weren’t as much of a shout as she’d been hoping for, “please, please let go.”
“Hush baby,” Steve climbed back into bed on her other side and took hold of her legs once again, readjusting her position slightly, “see, it’s not as uncomfortable as it could be, right? You just lay there and let me hold you, okay? Try to relax.”
“Here, now that you’re awake,” Bucky reached over to the side table and grabbed the remote, turning the TV mounted on the wall across from the bed on, “we can watch a movie while we wait.”
A fucking movie. They could watch a movie while they waited. One of their hands ran up over the curve of her ass, fingers delving into the slick mess of her pussy. She could tell they were pressing cum back into her, trying to keep as much in at once as possible.
“We’ll keep your pussy nice and full of cum,” the brunet’s voice was so low it was basically a rumble, “and your belly full of babies. Just wait, you’re going to have a wonderful life here with us, sweetheart. You’ll grow to love it, I promise.”

Last Time:
Chika laid down the facts: Atsumu was dating three different girls from three different friend groups. It was a secret to everyone but he and Chika, and now you, that he was doing this. Atsumu would only come to Onigiri Miya when Osamu wasn’t working. He was somewhat of an idiot in that respect, and Osamu had caught him with different girls at the establishment before, but the bleached twin had played it off as him seeing different girls every week; something that wasn’t outside of the realm of possibility for the player.
Chika went on to explain that while Atsumu used to work at the onigiri shop for his brother, he had taken time off in order to focus on university and his club volleyball team at the school. He was arrogant and self-centered, and often lied to his brother even about small things. The picture Chika painted was far from flattering.
You sat looking at her during her spiel, your jaw basically on the floor.
“So, yeah,” she finished. “He’s kind of a mess and a jackass.”
“Thanks for the warning, I’ll try to avoid him.”
“About that,” her smile strained as she spoke her next words: “He’s moving into the same dorm as you tomorrow.”
The day rose in a blaze of sun, the perfect weather for a barbecue on the quad at your new university. It was too hot for wearing anything other than a tank top and shorts since there was no way you were going to make it through the two-hour long event with no shade if you wore anything else.
A cacophony of laughter and raucous excitement reached your ears as you stepped onto the lush green of the expansive quad, taking in the plethora of grills and the several volleyball and badminton nets set-up to enjoy with fellow students. Clusters of students from every year were scattered about the lawn, drinking from plastic cups and munching on snacks while trying to find the courage to jump into an activity and break free of their timidity.
It should have come as no surprise, but Atsumu Miya had no issues with running head first into a new adventure. He was playing 2-on-2 volleyball at one of the nets, showing off just how high he could jump to slam the ball down on the grass on the opposite side of the net. His athleticism shined here, clearly leaps and bounds beyond the others he was volleying with who looked like they were about to pass-out from heat stroke while desperately trying to match his pace.
It would have been almost comical, the difference in skill between someone who was obviously well-versed in volleyball and someone who had never touched a ball in their life, except that Atsumu looked so smug every time he scored a point for his team. It was hardly a competition and even from this distance you could tell he was letting it get to his head.
Turning your attention away, you nearly collided with another person as you moved to grab a drink from one of the coolers. The person you were now face-to-face with wore a black t-shirt with “RA” in white lettering across the place a breast pocket would be.
“I’m so sorry!” You blurted out, backing up slightly and raising your hands. “I wasn’t paying attention.”
“Don’t worry about it!” They replied, a genial smile splitting their face in response to your sudden panic. “You look familiar. I think you moved onto my floor yesterday! Yeah, [Y/n], right?”
“Guilty,” you quipped, looking at them closely. It clicked into place once you noticed their black bangs pinned back with their high pigtails. “You’re the resident assistant on my floor...Nanami, right?”
“Yep,” she replied, giving you a thumbs up. Her cheerfulness seemed a bit forced, but you smiled back at her regardless. “It’s actually good ya bumped into me ‘cause I was looking to round up the girls to play some volleyball. You in?”
“Um, sure, I don’t really have anything else to do.”
--
That’s how you found yourself entangled in a lot more than you’d bargained for: an icebreaker activity with Atsumu’s three girlfriends.
“Let’s say our names and then a fun fact about us,” Nanami said once the small group of girls she could find was rounded into a seated circle. “I’ll go first. My name’s Nanami and I love going to concerts!”
Dead silence befell the group as they all looked at her, expressionless. It was hot and she was making you all sit in the sun and tell a fun fact about yourselves? Weren’t you supposed to be playing volleyball?
“Cool,” said the girl clad in sports attire, repping the school’s colors. “I’m Sara, I play for the soccer team here and love kick-boxing.”
Sara used her thumb to point to the girl on her right, taking charge of the situation so they could all get it over with.
“I’m Izumi,” came the soft voice of a girl with her eyes turned shyly downward. “I work in the library in my spare time.”
Could this be any more dull? So much for a fun barbecue.
The next girl down the line stated her name and a fact about herself that slipped through your mind like water until it was Atsumu’s final girlfriend’s turn.
“My name’s Aiko, and I play the violin,” she said, flicking her long hair over her shoulder and fiddling with the hem of her pure white blouse.
Once again, this elicited no response and all eyes now rested on you as they waited for your name and riveting factoid.
“I’m [Y/n] and I work at an onigiri shop off-campus and just moved here from Miyagi.”
A pregnant pause followed your statement as the small group merely blinked in acknowledgement of each other’s existence before Nanami’s voice cut through the heavy air: “Let’s play volleyball!”
The group stood, returning shredded grass particles to the ground and moved like cattle to the volleyball nets.
“I’m gonna ditch, my boyfriend wants to get boba,” the girl whose name you couldn’t remember whispered into your ear before skipping away from the group now composed of only you, Sara, Aiko, Izumi, and Nanami.
Just perfect, you were going to be playing volleyball with three girls dating the same guy and the person who would be watching every move you made in the dorms for the year, what could be more ideal? You almost wished Osamu had put you on the schedule today, but he’d given you the first week of classes off to acclimate to the new university.
It was done now, so you’d make the most of the situation and maybe get a new friend out of it. Izumi seemed really sweet and down-to-earth, so you’d give chatting with her a shot. Walking up beside her, you opened your mouth to say something before the realization that you knew a dirty secret she didn’t about the guy she was seeing hit you. You snapped your mouth closed and walked the remainder of the expanse of green to the free volleyball net.
A collective gasp sounded from the group as you approached the net, causing you to look up from the ground you’d been examining in order to avoid tripping. When you saw where their heads were turned, you sighed internally.
Of course, every single one of them had their eyes locked on Atsumu finishing up his game on the make-shift volleyball court next to the one you’d soon be playing on. He had sweat pouring down his face from what you could imagine was the heat and exertion, and you couldn’t tear your eyes away as he lifted his shirt to wipe at his face exposing the glistening muscles of his abdomen.
What was this, a teen movie? No one looked that hot after playing a taxing sport and it was highly unfair that someone so vile could look so good.
“Okay, girls,” Nanami said, clapping her hands together yet again. “I’m gonna ref, so choose your teams.”
Aiko immediately flocked to Sara, likely taking in the fact that the latter was a college athlete and would be better poised to win the game. Izumi didn’t look particularly thrilled to be stuck with you as her teammate, but she’d have to deal for the short amount of time you’d be playing.
Sara served first, landing a solid ace across the net that punted against the grass that neither you nor Izumi received, giving your opponents the first point. Aiko and Izumi looked at each other through the net, their eyes suddenly serious. You furrowed your brow, watching how Sara was now in a fighting stance, until the sound of Atsumu’s voice reached your ears.
“So, yer the RA for the boys’ and girls’ floor, eh?” He said, leaning toward Nanami who looked less than pleased to be conversing with him at the current moment.
“That I am,” she replied stiffly, trying to keep her eye on the ball. “I’m kind of busy right now, if you’ll excuse me.”
“I’m sure ya don’t mind if I stay and watch a little bit?”
Nanami shrugged, turning her attention completely away from him. He didn’t appear to care, and didn’t press her any further.
Atsumu was watching the game, that’s why these three were acting like their lives depended on winning a casual volleyball game on the quad. This asshole knew exactly what his presence would do to these girls and was eating it up like a Korean drama.
Whatever, he wasn’t your focus and would never be your focus, so you returned your attention to the game. Your heart clenched in your chest as you watched Aiko look over at Atsumu, sending him a salacious wink just to receive a smirk in return. In the time that your eyes left Sara’s serving form, hoping that no one had noticed the exchange, the volleyball was colliding with your head and sending you reeling.
“[Y/n]!” You could hear Nanami call before her knees were thudding onto the earth next to you, her black pigtails dangling over your face. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” you responded, sitting up to notice that Atsumu had departed with his hand on the upper back of another tall male walking away. A feeling of impending doom flowed over you as you looked at the girls standing near the net, their faces directed at each other expressing confusion and mounting anger. “What’s going on?”
“We’re at the quad for the barbecue, do you have a concussion? What year is it?” The RA asked, clearly not anticipating this at the event.
“I’m fine! What about them?”
“Why were you winking at my boyfriend?” Izumi seethed, her kind and calm demeanor slipping away easily to reveal a nasty underside.
“I was winking at my boyfriend,” Aiko replied, stepping closer to Izumi but remaining on her side of the net. “Atsumu Miya.”
“What the hell did you just say?” Sara bellowed while stomping towards the two already in the throws of their disagreement. “Who’d you say your boyfriend was?”
Izumi and Aiko replied in unison: “Atsumu Miya.”
--
The trio of Atsumu’s lovers sat a safe 6-feet from each other in the grass, ice packs pressed against the bruises they’d given each other during the scuffle that eventually had to be broken up by the University Police. You’d also tried to pry them apart, which only earned you a split lip and a disciplinary mark on your record for the trouble.
“So, I get the pleasure of explaining what your punishment is,” Nanami said, sitting down on the grass with exaggerated annoyance, producing a map and setting it in the space between everyone. “The resident director thinks it would be a good idea for you guys to clean up around town. So you’ll be tackling the areas I’ve marked every other day and clearing them of all the litter you can see.”
“How long?” You asked, pressing the ice pack to your lip in an attempt to get it to stop stinging so horribly.
“Ten hours, which is pretty lenient,” she explained. “Since you guys don’t have any other infractions she didn’t think it was worth more than that. And she wants you to do it together to learn some cooperation and teamwork.”
The tension in the air was suffocating at this news and not a single girl could look the other in the eye, opting to stare at their feet while nursing their wounds.
“This is all your fault, Aiko,” Sara spat.
“How is it--” Aiko began before you cut her off.
“I don’t know,” you spoke up, raising your hand in defense as Aiko shot you a glare, her white blouse sullied with dirt. “Seems like you all got played, right? He told you all that he had to keep his relationship with you secret, right?”
A grumble rose around the small area between the 5 of you.
“Okay, so he was lying to you so he could mess around with other people, so who’s fault is it really?”
You had no idea the trouble your logical mind had gotten you into.

Hi! If you’re taking requests, I was so wondering if you coud do a drabble with Hop and Rival during their battle at the championships? Before the finishing blow, instead of a smile, Hop sees his Rival hesitate and in the verge of tears before making the final move. What would Hop be feeling seeing that? And maybe a scene after? Thank you!!
Obviously not totally canon compliant, and I changed a small thing at the end, but it’s nothing major.  I hope you like it.  I changed the perspective a couple times; I marked those by separating them with a line.
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had finally come to this.  You knew all along you would, ideally, have to face him someday, but for some reason, it didn’t hit you until now.
Your eyes adjusted to the lights, which were strong enough for you to feel their heat.  Across the other side of the field, Hop turned to face you, looking more solemn than usual. He spoke first, wear a distant yet… happy? look on his face.  Hop began talking about the start of your journey, all the way to here.  He couldn’t believe you had come so far!  The two of you!
But he was going to win.  He had to fight his brother, after all.
And as the battle started, that familiar rush gripped you.  Fighting Hop was always different than anyone else. Even the gym leaders.  Maybe it was because you were so close, but you worried more about what he’d think of the battle.
The one felt just like all of your previous bouts.  In fact, you even forgot about the tournament.  With focus shielding you from the sounds and spotlights, only the Pokemon and your rival were before you.
And, you truly wanted Hop to put up a good fight.  And he did!  His Dubwool had become a bit of a tank, taking hit after hit.  His Corviknight darted across the field, avoiding most attacks while dishing out its own.  And his Snorlax took out two of your own Pokemon.
But even then… You were still winning considerably.  His was down to his last Pokemon, the second Pokemon he added to his team, and you had three left.  Your starter took the field, for old times’ sake.   Both Dynamaxed, taking up most of the fields on either side. But with the type advantage, Hop’s ace stood little chance.  It took one hit, barely.  The end of the battle was clear.
-----
He tried his best to not break down.  It felt like no matter what he tried he just couldn’t keep up with you. New strategies failed.  Pokemon after Pokemon fell. Before he knew it, he was down to his final team member, and there was little chance to win.
Forcing a smile, he knew he had to at least try to get in one more good blow.  He wasn’t giving in; he owed his Pokemon that much, at least.  He ordered them to use a Max Strike, the most effective move in this situation.  It ended up being a critical hit and the crowd roared as his rival’s Pokemon staggered.
But, Hop’s Pokemon nearly collapsed after the attack.  He urged them to keep going, that they could still win, but he knew this was the perfect opening.  He peered through the settling dust, trying to see his rival.
He knew how much this meant to you.  You were probably overjoyed; he sure would be!  But instead of a smile or any form of excitement, you looked… strained.  Holding back. It was too far to see clearly, but he could’ve sworn you seemed upset.
You should’ve given a command by now. Hop’s Pokemon was even starting to regain their balance, sending vibrations throughout the stadium as they got up.  Even the crowd noticed, quieting down in the suspense.
And then, you gave the order.  With the last Max attack, his Pokemon fell, reverting to normal size. The crowd roared, the music resumed, and the announcer declared you as the winner.
He was devastated, but he couldn’t break down.  Not in front of everyone, and definitely not in front of you. Hop didn’t want to ruin your win; he was just glad he got to share this moment with you.
But as he crossed the distance between you, he noticed you didn’t look as happy as you should have.  You wore a forced smile.  Your eyes betrayed you.  He wasn’t sure what to do; neither of you had microphones on you, but he knew people might read his lips.  Hop gave his congratulations, coming closer to give you a handshake, hoping his own worried expression would tip you off that he realized something was wrong. But you said nothing of it, thanked him, and the two of you separated.  He knew he’d have to meet up with you later, just to make sure you were okay.
He was the one that was supposed to be upset…  He just couldn’t wrap his head around it.
But he’d knew you be busy, preparing for the match, interviews, and a million other things.  He wasn’t sure when he’d be able to catch up with you.
It turned out you were the one to find him.
------
You were beyond exhausted.  Not physically, emotionally.  You wanted Hop to do well; he cared so much about being as good as Leon, and was a light in your life.  But you had your own goals.  Letting him win wouldn’t be fair to either of you.
You were late to get changed out of your uniform.  Reporter after reporter wanted to speak to you and the cutest little fan wanted to shake your hand.  After finally escaping the crowds, you made your way to the locker room, only to see the light was shining from beneath the door.  You were surprised; you didn’t expect anyone to still be here. But even though they might’ve just left the light on, you knocked anyways.
“Who is it?” A voice called out.  Familiar. It sounded like… Leon?  You weren’t sure why he would be here.  You said your name, and you hear the bench creak and footsteps approach the door.  It opened about half a foot.  “Hey, y/n, looking to change?”  You told him yes, and asked why he was here.  He didn’t give you much of a response, only told you to wait a second as he closed the door mostly shut.  After a few moments, Leon opened the door again and let you in.
Hop was hunched over, sitting on a bench near the far wall.  He had not turned to face you.  You gave Leon a concerned look and he returned your expression with a sympathetic nod.  He motioned for you to approach his brother first.
You walked over gingerly and sat down next to him.  He sniffed, not looking at you; your heart dropped.  Not knowing what to say, you asked him how long he had been there.  He said about two hours.
Wrapping an arm around him, you asked if he wanted to head back to the hotel.  It’d be a lot more comfortable than a metal bench. He didn’t respond at first. But then he finally turned to you.
“What happened out there?  Why’d you hesitate!?  You looked so upset.”  He paused.  “I don’t get it.  That was your big moment, everything you’ve been waiting for.  You looked like you were about to cry right after!”  He was noticeably choked up, and on the verge of tears himself.  You could feel him shaking as you held him.
It took you a few moments to respond. You hated seeing him upset and it took everything in you to keep yourself together.  But as you explained, you could feel the emotion come.
In short, you felt like you ruined everything.  Wasn’t it supposed to be brother versus brother?  It was so hyped, the battle of the decade, they said!  Except it didn’t happen, because you ended up stealing the win. Sure, a trainer battling against the Champion that endorsed them was exciting, but it just wasn’t the same. Not only that, you knew this meant everything to Hop.  Hurting him was the last thing you wanted to do.
----
His eyes widened.  He had no idea you felt this way, but it made perfect sense. And Hop couldn’t help but feel bad; he knew it wasn’t his fault, but he still felt like he ruined your victory.
Leon shifted from behind the pair. Hop had completely forgotten he was there.  “It was a champion match, to be sure.  You should both be proud!” He said, smiling widely. “But I understand where you’re coming from, y/n.  To be honest, I was looking forward to fighting Hop.  But I’m sure no one will be disappointed with the battle we have tomorrow!” He walked over to the pair and sat down, addressing Hop.
“But no matter what happens and what you choose to do next, I know you’ll do the best you can.  There’s always next year if being a Champion is what you really want.”
Hop sighed.  He knew that; it didn’t make it hurt any less.  But he had to admit.  He was so lucky to have the two of you.  Not everyone had this kind of support.
He wiped away a tear that didn’t fall. “Thanks… And y/n?” He turned to you.  “Thank you, too.  For being my friend, and being here for me.”
----
The three stayed in the locker room for about another hour until both Hop and you were calm.  Hop changed the subject to tomorrow’s match, and before you knew it, it was getting dark out! Leon offered to pay for dinner and a taxi home, which the two of you greatly appreciated.  You spent the night in Hop’s room, watching TV and joking around, just like you did before starting your journey.

The stroll to take off from the black sand backside landing seashore is 20-30 minutes relying on how fit you're. There are Balinese porters in the event you want assistance.
There are a lot of trusted car rental in Bali with driver in addition to tour service who will in a position to drive visitors or vacationers to those attention-grabbing spots.

The Fault In Our Stars- Why is it so widely praised?
Tumblr media
Hi! The Fault In Our Stars by John Green is undoubtedly one of the most famous books of all time. It makes you, as a reader wonder why it is so famous. Personally speaking, this books is extraordinary and completely worth reading. There are countless reasons why and if you want to know why The Fault In Our Stars is the book for you, keep reading!
The Plot/ Summary
Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs(for now).
Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else too, post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.
Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.
Recommended Age to read this novel
Personally, this book is perfect for everyone above the age of 13 mainly because apart from being a romance novel, it deals with sensitive issues like cancer, being an amputee, losing your eyes and death.
Reasons to read The Fault In Our Stars
The first reason would be the writing style. John Green, the author has perfectly captured the teenage angst and thoughtfulness that comes with facing your own death. This book has intelligent vocabulary, well-written characters, and doesn't sugar coat the reality of living while dying. It is written from Hazel's point of view and is witty and funny yet real.
The second reason would be the story. Hazel and Gus, the two main characters of this story are both cancer survivors. Hazel Grace is tethered to an oxygen tank while Gus is an amputee. Usually when you read books about cancer, they tend to be overly saccharine and preach a lot. This novel, on the other hand is not that. It is a true (though not factual) tale of what it means to fall in love and become fully alive even as your life is slipping away in the most brutal way. Hazel and Gus actually think and feel and even when their thoughts and ideas are diminished by the adults around them, they still keep thinking and exploring. Their youth and idealism are counterbalanced by their maturity and cynicism.
The third reason would be Hazel Grace and Gus. Neither of them are self-pitying nor are they unrealistically okay with what must obviously be a highly traumatic thing to go through. They’re both incredibly mature having been forced to confront the idea of death very early on in life so moments together when they can just be like any other teenagers are so special. These characters are inspirational and make you wish more people had their strength and outlook on life.
The fourth reason would be Hazel and Gus' relationship. It is, after all, a romance novel. Their conversations make you laugh at times and cry at times. Their banter is witty and makes you laugh out loud. Everything, from the trust they had for one another to their shared experiences showed us the depth of their bond and the complexities of their characters.
The fifth reason would be the other main characters. Issac, another cancer survivor who lost his eyes to the disease, Hazel's parents and Gus' parents are all amazing characters. They all have their own stories. For instance, Hazel's parents had to deal with the thought of losing their daughter when she was 13 and they almost had. After that, every day, they had to live knowing that this day could be the last day they spend with her. Yet, they are truly great people who try to find happiness in small moments.
The sixth reason would be the ending. While many may argue it was predictable(and maybe it was), as a reader there was always that hope that maybe it would work out. Maybe Gus would miraculously recover. But that did not happen. Yet, it made the story all the more beautiful and realistic too. It mirrored the stories and pain of countless cancer patients and their families across the world who lose in their fight against cancer. This book is so emotional and impossible to put down!
There are so many more reasons why this book is worth reading and I could keep going on about it forever. So, if you have not read The Fault In Our Stars yet, you should definitely read it! If you have read it, do let me know if you liked it and agreed with me!

Stupid For You, Chapter 5 (Crygi, Jankie, Jaida x Nicky) - Metaluna
Summary: In which everyone makes mistakes, and have to face consequences.
A/N: Hey everyone! This does have a tw of domestic abuse.
The rest of the month went by smoothly for Jaida. She got to be team lead for most of her shifts, much to the jealousy of her coworkers. She didn’t care. She knew she was damn good at her job, and paid her dues for the past few years. It was what she deserved. Part of her was sad knowing it was her last summer at the park, but the idea of law school was much more exciting than telling guests that they had to put shoes on all summer.
She and Nicky continued their fling. It was some of the best sex Jaida had ever had. Jaida could feel herself developing feelings for Nicky, but rather than address them, she just ignored them. They’d go away on their own right?
She woke up at noon. Because there weren’t many leads in Sales, she worked six days a week, and it was her first day off in twelve days. She deserved to sleep in. Her phone buzzed. It was Nicky texting the groupchat.
Heyy ladies, I’m off today. Does anyone want to play in the park today?
This was her shot. Even though she and Nicky spent a lot of time together, they didn’t ever get the chance to just talk. Even after they hooked up, Nicky usually left pretty soon after, always having a reason to not hang out after.
First day off in 12. I’m down.
Nicky texted back quickly. See you at 2.
Jaida peered into her closet, and suddenly, she hated every single article of clothing that she owned. After rifling through shirts, and trying on different outfit combinations, she eventually settled on a cropped black tank top and army green shorts.
Out of all of her coworkers, Jaida lived the furthest away. The half hour drive gave Jaida time to think. She knew that she felt differently about Nicky than she did with any of the previous flings. Even though she had her flings, none of them ended in a relationship. When she thought about Nicky, images flashed in her head of dinner dates, picking pumpkins, and curling up on the couch watching a movie. She had to do it. She had to bring Nicky to the Ferris wheel. If they went up together, they could talk it out.
When Jaida arrived, it was only 1:40. The Landing, where the stores were, was in the front of the park, just off the entrance. She decided that she could harass her coworkers. Before entering Isle Mercantile, she saw Gigi walking with a cart full of beach towels.
“Gigi!” she called.
“Jaida! Hi! I saw you’re hanging with Nicky.” Gigi raised an eyebrow. “What exactly is going on with you?”
“Honestly, I don’t know. I really don’t.”
Gigi pushed her cart into a shady corner under the roof. “Here. Come over here. Step into my office.”
Jaida rolled her eyes and sighed. “It’s just so hard. I like her, and obviously she likes me enough to fuck me, but I don’t know that she likes me enough to date me.”
Her phone buzzed. Jackie.
Girl. I saw you were coming into the park with Nicky. Are you going to talk it out?
She decided she could reply later and continued. “It’s so embarrassing but I’ve never had a girlfriend. I don’t know how to have this conversation. I doubt she likes me.”
“If you guys have manage to hook up as many times as you have, I feel like you’ve got something there.”
“Thanks, Gigi. Hey, what’s been up with you?”
“What do you mean?”
“You just seem a lot less happy. Are you okay?”
Gigi nodded a little too quickly. “I’m fine! Anyway, Jaida if I don’t stock these towels, Brita’s gonna be pissed!”
Her phone buzzed again. It was Nicky.
I’m here. Meet at the food trucks!
After walking to the trucks, Jaida spotted Nicky at a table. The sunlight was hitting the blonde in just the right spots, making the her look even more beautiful than normal.
Jaida decided to sneak up behind Nicky. “Boo, bitch.”
She jumped, nearly falling out of her chair. “You bitch!”
“Let’s go ride the Jinn. I haven’t done it yet this year.”
While in line, she decided to text Jackie back.
I really want to, but I don’t know what to say, or how to bring it up. All I know that this feels different. This isn’t the same as all the others for the past three years. I can’t describe it. I really, really like Nicky. I want to take the next step, but I don’t know if she does.
As she hit “send” she returned her phone to her pocket, right as Nicky picked hers up.
Jaida knew what she did. Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. How could she be so stupid?
“So, that didn’t go to Jackie. Jaida…” Nicky began. “Is this true?”
Jaida was hoping to bring Nicky up in the Ferris wheel. Even though things never fell in her favor, it was a comforting place. The line they were in was a 30 minute wait. They had nothing but time to talk it out. Even though it wasn’t ideal, Jaida nodded. “It is.”
Nicky sighed. “Jaida, I like you, I really do.”
This is exactly how every other girl began when they wanted to cut things off.
“And it’s not you it’s me?” Jaida predicted.
“It’s a cliché, I know. But I have so much going on right now, that I really can’t date anyone, not just you. Jaida, I really do like you. A lot. In other circumstances, we would already be dating, but right now I can’t give you what you want. I understand if you don’t want to keep doing… what we’re doing. I will respect your decision either way.”
“No worries!” Jaida said happily, even though she felt like she was going to cry. “I’m totally fine with what we have.”
“Are you sure?”
“I promise.”
For the fourth year in a row, Jaida felt her heart break. She was left wondering if things were better had she taken Nicky for a ride in the Ferris wheel.
—–
After her shift, Gigi sat at her desk sketching a dress. She felt her phone buzz.
can you come over
Yea. Everything all good?
no
I’ll be there in ten
Gigi made the ten minute drive in five. Crystal answered the door. Her eyes were red, it was easy to tell that she’d been crying the past few hours. Her hair was disheveled, and she was wearing an oversized sweat shirt. “Come in.”
Wordlessly, Crystal led Gigi into her bedroom. All of her walls were hand painted beautifully, each wall with a different color scheme. Her room was slightly messy, but still somehow organized. A picture of Harry Styles hung above the bed. An easel was in the corner with an abstract painting. The closet door was propped open, exposing Crystal’s brightly colored clothing.
“Talk to me,” Gigi said said as she and Crystal sat on her bed.
Crystal started crying as she sat down. “It’s Ryan.”
“What happened?“
“We started talking about me going off to college in a couple months. Usually when we talk about it, he won’t talk about it. Well, I needed answers… and I got them. He told me that if I didn’t stay home, he would break up with me.”
“Oh, Crystal.”
Gigi was pissed. She knew how hard Crystal worked to get into the graphic design program. The school they were to attend in the fall wasn’t easy to get into. It had a 50 percent acceptance rate. Crystal was too talented to let that go to waste. The audacity of that boy to ask her to throw that all away. She wanted to tell Crystal everything she was thinking, but instead, she held Crystal and stroked her hair.
“We’ve been together since we were fifteen. I don’t know how to live without him, you know?”
“Mmm.”
“I just love him so much, I don’t think I can leave him. I think I’m going to withdraw my application from Ferris.”
“Crystal, no. You can’t. You worked your ass off to get into that school. You know you did.”
“I know. But I love him.” Crystal rubbed her eyes, causing her sleeve to roll down, revealing a deep bruise.
Gigi gasped. “Did he do that to you?”
“He didn’t do it on purpose! He said I was being unreasonable, and he was right. He just needs to calm me down sometimes, you know?”
“No, Crystal. I don’t know. That’s not okay, under any circumstance. I don’t care if you cheated on him. That does not give him the right to ever put his hands on you.”
“I’m so stupid. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have even applied to that school in the first place.”
“Absolutely none of this is your fault. Please don’t ever say that it is.”
Crystal sighed. “I think I need to stay here.”
“I think you’re wrong. But, what I do think is that Ryan’s bad for you.”
“How fucking dare you.” Crystal’s voice was harsher than Gigi had ever heard it. “You don’t know him like I do. He’s known me a hell of a lot longer than you have.”
“Crystal…” Gigi felt tears forming.
“No. Don’t start. You don’t understand what all we’ve been through. How could you? You could never understand because you’ve been alone your entire life. You can’t let people in. Even me. You’ve been weird as shit every single day since the party, and won’t tell me why. All you do is shut people out when they’re trying to help you. Me, Jan, Jaida, Jackie… We’ve all tried to ask you what was wrong, because clearly something’s wrong. You don’t let people in, or you get fucking pissy. Why? It’s not our faults that your dad fucking left. Stop taking it out on us.”
Gigi sat completely stunned.
Crystal realized what she had said. “Gigi… I didn’t mean… I’m so sorry. I–”
“I think it’s time for me to go. Find your own ride to work, or walk your ass there. I don’t care. Don’t text me. Don’t fucking talk to me.”
“Gigi, wait!” Crystal called. But it was too late.
On the drive home, Gigi felt her chest tighten and knew a panic attack was starting. Knowing she wouldn’t be able to drive, she pulled into a parking lot. All she could think of were Crystal’s words which cut her like a knife. Gigi knew that Crystal wasn’t a cruel person, and that it was all in the heat of the moment, but it didn’t matter. Gigi didn’t even know where the words came from, why out of nowhere Crystal would bring up Gigi’s behavior in that conversation, and she really didn’t know why she brought her dad into it.
Her phone lit up.
gigi, i am so fucking sorry. idk where that came from. i don’t mean it. i hope you know that. that was fucked for me to say. so fucked. i understand if you don’t want to reply and need your space, but know that I am so fucking sorry, and ill never forgive myself for what i said. i can tell what i said really hurt you, and i understand if you dont want to talk, but just know if you ever do, i’m always here to listen
Gigi started typing.
Yeah, that WAS fucked. That fucking hurt me more than I could say. When I said my dad wasn’t a good person, I meant it. When I had my first girlfriend, I came out to my parents. My dad wanted to throw my ass out, and my mom wouldn’t let him, and said that it if I wasn’t out of the house, he was going to leave. My mom would never throw me out, so now he’s gone. It fucked with me. You wonder why I can’t people let me in? That’s why. I’m fucked up, and you’re right. I do need my space. Leave me alone.
She reread her response, and decided she didn’t owe Crystal an explanation, and deleted every word of the text.
Crystal was laying on her bed looking up at the ceiling, which was painted like a galaxy. How could she be that cruel? Her words were volatile. Crystal didn’t know the whole story. Even if she did, it wasn’t right to bring it up, especially not like that.
She had to make it right. She sat on her phone, trying to formulate the perfect apology text. A text felt so impersonal, but Gigi hated talking on the phone, and hated Facetiming. Crystal knew that a text would be the best thing she could do. After rereading her text a few times, she hit Send.
Gigi was typing something. Something long. Crystal anxiously waited for her reply, but the three dots disappeared. Instead, she was left with Read.
The pain Crystal felt was stronger than anything before. It was worse than anytime Ryan laid his hands on her. It was worse than the time he cheated on her. It was worse than anything, and she had no idea how she was going to make it right.

Tumblr media
The clashes in Charlottesville catalyzed the American public’s reckoning with the budding white nationalist movement, which had accelerated after Donald Trump’s election. Afterward, the wave of public shaming of the violence in Charlottesville led at least one “Unite the Right” marcher to insist his participation in the rally was misinterpreted as racist. Others who attended quickly lost their jobs after online campaigns exposed them.
But the eventual identification of the man in the white tank top and red hat shook many: He was revealed to be a 33-year-old Puerto Rican resident of Georgia, originally from the Bronx. “I’m the only brown Klans member I ever met,” Alex Michael Ramos joked in a Facebook Live video before he turned himself into police Aug. 28. The Facebook post has since been taken down.
But Ramos wasn’t the only “Unite the Right” marcher with a Hispanic background.
Christopher Rey Monzon, a 22-year-old Cuban-American, is associated with the League of the South, which the Southern Poverty Law Center classifies as a neo-Confederate hate group. Monzon was arrested weeks after Charlottesville for charging at protesters in a separate Florida demonstration. And Nick Fuentes, a 19-year-old student who hosts an alt-right podcast called America First, said he had to leave Boston University in the aftermath of the Charlottesville protests after receiving death threats over his participation.
The presence of these Latino men at the largest white nationalist event in recent memory underscores the complicated racial position of Latinos in the United States. Latino white supremacy, it turns out, might not be a contradiction in terms.
Increasingly, Latinos are identifying racially as white. In fact, more than half did so in the 2010 U.S. Census. A March 2016 report from Pew Research Center found that 39% of Afro-Latinos also identified “as white alone or white in combination with another race.” With a current population of around 58 million, Latinos make up the second-largest ethnic group in the U.S., just behind whites.
Another Pew Research Center study from December found that 59% of U.S. adults with Latino heritage who identify as white believe others see them as white, too. Over time, the study found, descendants of Latino immigrants stop identifying with their countries of origin and consider themselves more and more American.
Fuentes — who says he’s about 25% Mexican — identifies as white, not Latino. In an interview with Mic, Fuentes also said he believes multiculturalism threatens white national identity. Monzon, meanwhile, has called for South Florida to secede from the U.S. His ties to the League of the South are generational, as his parents have also protested with the white supremacist fringe group, according to the SPLC. In a Facebook profile the SPLC has attributed to him, Monzon goes by “Ambrosio Gonzalez,” the name of a Cuban general who fought as a Confederate colonel in the Civil War.
Ramos, however, rejects any notion that he’s racist, insisting he went to Charlottesville in defense of free speech and as a show of force against left-wing groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
During the nearly hourlong video Ramos posted to Facebook, he became agitated at users who challenged him for marching with the KKK and jumping a black man.
“Yeah, I stood side-by-side with racist people, but they weren’t racist to me,” Ramos said. “They did not call me a ‘spic,’ they did not call me a ‘fucking wetback,’ they didn’t say nothing as such. We stood for the same common goal.”
Alex Michael Ramos has been charged in connection with the beating of a black man during violent clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the “Unite the Right” rally Aug. 12.
Uncredited/AP
Despite his stated goals, the brutal violence in the video from that day was enough for judges in Charlottesville to twice deny Ramos bond.
“The victim was defenseless,” Judge Richard Moore of the Charlottesville General District Court said at Ramos’ bail hearing in November. “Mr. Ramos rushes into something where people are pummeling Mr. Harris. He is an unreasonable risk to others.”
Ramos is facing a malicious wounding charge and could spend up to 20 years in prison if convicted, according to local station WVIR-TV. Through his attorney, Ramos declined to be interviewed.
Other alleged perpetrators include Daniel Patrick Borden of Ohio, who was identified online and arrested in connection to Harris’ attack. Like Ramos, he was also denied bond. Authorities arrested another suspect, Arkansas man Jacob Scott Goodwin, in October and extradited him to Charlottesville the following month.
Harris himself was later forced to turn himself in when Harold Ray Crews, an attorney and resident of Walkertown, North Carolina — and the state’s chairman for League of the South — claimed Harris injured him in the same scuffle. Though Harris’ felony charge for unlawful wounding was dropped in December, “there are still misdemeanor charges pending,” according to the Root.
Fuentes is, in many ways, representative of the ideas of the so-called alt-right, which the Anti-Defamation League defines as a “loose network of racists and anti-Semites.” His Twitter feed shows equal disdain for conservative commentator Ben Shapiro and the South Side of Chicago, which has seen a sharp increase in gang-related murders in recent years. Though he decried Heyer’s murder at the “Unite the Right” rally during his interview with Mic, he also equated it with antifa violence.
Fuentes did acknowledge there isn’t much reconciliation between his stance on multiculturalism — simply put, it’s bad and should be avoided — and his own cultural background: His Mexican ancestors immigrated to the U.S. at the turn of the 20th century. Intermarriage has created a “beige, rootless mass,” he said, and he rejects any notion that Latino immigrants can assimilate.
“I don’t buy the idea that if you come to a country and your kids learned the language, you’re from that country,” Fuentes said. “You have to understand that America is an exceptional nation; it’s the proposition nation. That’s why the identity question is so big here. America was obviously settled only very recently. If I moved to China and I filled out the paperwork, would that make me Chinese? Of course not. I would maybe be a part of the People’s Republic.”
“They demonize the ‘other,’ but the irony is that they were once the ‘other.’”
Fuentes’s own standard — that learning English and settling in the U.S. does not make you American — disenfranchises himself and his parents, a fact he acknowledged. From the perspective of someone who sees the U.S. as a foundationally European nation, as Fuentes does, being anything less than white is the same as being a nonentity.
“You rob children of something very fundamental when you take away a common and coherent identity,” he said. “I look at my Eastern European people from high school and they have their food and their special clothing from their home country. But when you have race mixing, you rob them. I do pause at that. This is not an experience I wish to replicate. I don’t know if I wish I could turn back the clock and change things, but ideally there wouldn’t be mixing.”
Joanna Mendelson, senior investigative researcher and director of special projects for the ADL, sees growing anti-immigrant views from the descendants of Latino immigrants as a unique conundrum.
“It’s this idea that, ‘we did it right, we did it legally,’” Mendelson said in an interview with Mic. “They’re not just addressing illegal immigration — which would be one thing — but they’re against refugees and Muslims and legal immigration. They demonize the ‘other,’ but the irony is that they were once the ‘other.’”
On Aug. 20, days after the Charlottesville protests, Juan Cadavid, a Colombian-born Californian who now goes by the name Johnny Benitez, led an “America First!” rally in Southern California he described as a vigil for victims of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants. Dozens of supporters were drowned out by nearly 2,500 counterprotesters, the Los Angeles Times reported.
In an interview with NPR in December, Benitez shared how he went from Occupy Wall Street protester and Bernie Sanders supporter to alt-right nationalist, claiming he was exiled from Occupy and called a bigot after he questioned the need for the group to support transgender people. He insisted he was not a white supremacist, but an advocate for what he called “white identity politics” — which includes embracing the 14 Words slogan used by white supremacists: “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.”
Benitez also told NPR he pushes for a United States that is “Italo-Spanish” white, to make room for the descendants of southern Europeans (which he considers himself to be). White nationalists such as Richard Spencer have said white Latinos could theoretically be part of a white ethno-nationalist state, but they still have mixed feelings about assimilation.
“In some instances you are rejected from the host culture, made to feel not American,” Benitez said of being an immigrant in the U.S. “And if I go back, I’m definitely not Colombian. You know, I didn’t live there, you can hear that I have an American accent, things like that, when I speak Spanish.”
Benitez’s girlfriend, Irma Hinojosa, cohosts The Right View, a YouTube talk show hosted with four other women who call themselves the “Deplorable Latinas.” The show features conservative Latinas commenting on the news from a point of view that conversation about Latinos and immigration focuses on the undocumented versus those who entered the country legally. Hinojosa also has her own YouTube channel where she livestreams protests and alt-right events. She was the only woman to speak at a June “Freedom of Speech” rally featuring Spencer and other alt-right figures.
