I had a thought lately about phantom blot, i checked so many horror mickey mouse animation like fnaf (treasure island) or friday night funkin and...they don't wanted to put him as a enemy even as his epic mickey counterpart...i mean glad he's not here yet, because these animations are quite a bit too edgy, but that's so weird they didin't put him yet since i could found him to be interesting and a potential for horror. What did you think?

Oh yeah the Phantom Blot completely works as a horror character, if he isn't already considered one.

To be honest I wonder if it is less that people don't want to use him and moreso people don't know who he is or don't think to add him. I also don't know much about the animations you referenced but if they use 3D models, perhaps the lack of a model might also be a reason (though the Epic Mickey Blot should have one I believe)

The best I can say is be the change you want to see in the world.

They upgraded a bit the profile of phantom blot of the official topolino website! :

"Few expected to discover that, under the dark hood of the criminal who had repeatedly tried to take down Mickey Mouse, was a caricature of Walt Disney himself!

Instead, this was the surprise that awaited readers a full three months later, at the end of the sensational strip adventure Mickey outwit the phantom blot (1939).

In conceiving it, Floyd Gottfredson and Merril De Maris wanted to set Mickey against a figure far more evil, mysterious, and disturbing than the usual Peg Leg. A character as shady as he was refined, intent on giving Mickey a party, yes, but through deadly devices that could get him to his goal without getting his hands dirty.

For after all, Phantom Blot has a certain sensibility!

Perhaps precisely in order not to over-emphasize his resemblance to Walt, in the American comics that followed the character's face was totally set aside, turning Blot into a sort of clumsy black ghost perpetually in a work uniform...in short, a "black stain."

In Italy things were different from the very beginning, when the character was revived by Guido Martina and Romano Scarpa in the disturbing thriller, Topolino e il doppio segreto di Macchia Nera (1955). And although there have been authors who have not resisted employing him in lighter stories or those with a comic register, in italy, the career of the gloomy evildoer has always been carried on with a certain regard, restoring to him the dandy look that had been lost and that still makes him the most romantic of Disney's villains.

Now Phantom Blot often acts barefaced, has seen his charisma expand, and is always at the center of complex and delightfully cerebral stories.

In Casty's and Marco Nucci's stories, in fact, Blot has shown a distinct penchant for science and invention, going so far as to create contraptions that rival those of Calisota's many professional scientists. Mickey remembers all too well the Darkenblot, the exoskeleton with which Blot struck terror in Illinois, but it was after the invention of the white pentadelion* (flower) that things got even nastier. With this lab-created flower, Blot discovered that he could release toxins into the environment that could alter memory, and from that moment on he has not stopped terrorizing the world, weaving a web of lies and manipulations in which it is increasingly difficult to extricate himself.

In short, intelligent, refined and good-looking, Blot would seem to be just the prince charming...a pity that all this is accompanied by a heart as black as night."

As I learn more about Disney comics, I'm surprised at how much love I see for the Phantom Blot. Not that he is a bad character, just that you have characters like Glomgold, Magica, The Beagles, and several other great villains I haven't met yet, but I consistently see so much love for Blot and I just found that very interesting because he feels like one of those villains you would think not everyone knows.

Also, I see a lot of love for the many interpretations of Phantom Blot too. Be it as a criminal mastermind who keeps his identity a secret, an almost eldritch menace, and even when he's your classic bumbling goof. People just seem to really love this guy and that's awesome.

Interesting theory indeed, it's a bit far-fetched of course, but i'm sure the writers (from the show or/and this comic series) wanted to do a connection between The Liquidator and The Phantom Blot, since they have some similarities.

Even if the comic series was non-canon even unfinished, Warren Spector (Epic Mickey creator) has indeed participated in this project.

Since we have in the same topic about comparaison between characters and theory, let's talk about Don Rosa character, Arpin Lusene aka The Black Knight. ( Le Chevalier Noir )

In this facebook post, Don Rosa wanted phantom blot for a Scrooge story but was denied.

The theory is ...Arpin Lusene was supposed to be Phantom Blot. I mean he's a phantom thief/Arsène Lupin character type like PB and his costume is very similar to design cloak of Phantom Blot, even his manners are quite similar to the first story of PB i could say.

True or not, I needed to put that fact because i found too fascinating.

The Liquidator is a liquid-themed dog villain in the "Mickey Mouse and Friends" world whose main crime tends to be burglary or getting revenge on the heroes who have stopped them in the past ... This also perfectly describes the Phantom Blot.

Do I have something here? 🤔

O: I'm learning to draw Blot in his masked glory. The thing is, his face is not very expressive, even his eyes (which are considered to be some of the most expressive parts of the face, along with eyebrows) are usually just blank. But that gives a menacing feel to him, you know? The fact that you can't see his expressions and therefore can't read him. Plus, his body language can be pretty expressive, if necessary!

Sometimes he has his pathetic moments for sure. ( we don't talk about the Paul Murry version. ),

Ultraheroes describe him his two sides a bit. (Spoiler Alert for this series.)

The fight against Fethry in this episode of Ultraheroes was hilarious and he almost lost it.

You will think they could continue like that for Blot, and here's the next fight.

At first, it can be a bit jarring for new Phantom Blot fans to see the drastically different tones used for the character.

But it also leads to funny realization that this guy...

And this guy...

Are the same person.

You can read directly all the Darkenblot series in German here with kindle.

There are a lot of passages that make Phantom Blot impressive and contrast with the atmosphere of the Mickey universe in this story. I like the fact that probably Casty have kept that visual for him in the stories by Marco Nucci.

So I just read the first Darkenblot story (finally. only took me more than 10 years) and God DAMN does it go hard.

Like Blotty in the prologue is basically just Iron Man if he was in prison instead of held captive by terrorists and if he was actually way cooler because Tony is nothing compared to the absolute swagger this guy just oozes.

It even got an American release so you have zero excuses. If you have the time to scroll tumblr you have the time to read Darkenblot. So read Darkenblot. We’re making this phase one of the Phantom Blot propaganda coming this year i want everyone to spread the fucking sick design he has in this story like the plague.

Darkenblot has good shock value for a Mickey Mouse thing so it’s perfect to kick off operation blot brain wash. People gonna look at this and go whaaaa and then you grab them and take them with you into the inescapable Blot hole.

But for you to be able to do that you must have first read Darkenblot so GO GO GO
