a deep dive into the bodily fluids of saltburn and how oliver upsets the standard of men who are just so lovely and dry. on the creative choice to lean into the messy wetness of sex and desire and the audience's instinct toward repulsion

a celebration of the grotesque and an examination of why we would label it as such

least developed of the four, heavily inspired by @charnelpit's lovely post about the fluids in saltburn

if anybody is actually interested in any of these, i can work toward something closer to a finished piece instead of just bullet points and quotes in a google doc, but mostly this is so i can share my very brief takes on a multitude of themes in saltburn that have been haunting me

Things I know they'd love, and edify their soul. I want to buy them a copy of my favorite book (a hardback not even I own), and wrap it like the gift it is; make them a custom bookmark a say, You'll love this. It will feed your soul the best stories, please ─ take it.

I want to teach them how to knit, and give them a pair of mittens on their birthday, mittens I've labored for weeks to make; though I don't have, and probably will never make for myself.

And… I don't need these things. No one ever gave me these things; but they deserve it. No strings attached.

What do you think about the mainline Pokemon games (RBY, GSC, etc.)?

ok well. let's see. there's ones I like and ones I don't, naturally. I said this in another ask but imo Pokemon design gets cooler and stronger with each passing generation, even if the games themselves weren't that good. LOVE Galar's designs for the most part, but good god Sword and Shield were not. good games. >__>

I'm eternally partial to RSE (Ruby was my first pkmn game, Hoenn's still one of my favorite regions, the Gen 3 era soundtrack is so nostalgic to me.) Gen 4 was a monumental generation for so many reasons, Platinum is a just a goddamn good game, and BDSP is a fucking embarassment lol. I love Gen 5's games, I've been wanting to replay Black sometime, I miss her. White 2 I think my be my favorite mainline Pokemon game of all time (though I have to be real, Violet is up there now too--warts (and bugs) and all, Scarvio was the most fun I've had in a mainline pokemon game in YEARS, and the story knocked my ass clean into the street. I just like it! I love Paldea!!)

I love Alola's Dex, I love so much of Sun and Moon's story and characters, and I fucking wish they were better games, I wish USUM wasn't a letdown (as much as Necrozma's everything makes me insane.) I didn't grow up with RBY or GSC so I don't really have any nostalgic attachment to them at all lol--in RBY's case I played the virtual console DS version and kind of. did not enjoy myself at all HHSGGDFG i would be perfectly content never going to Kanto in a pokemon game ever again.

Legends Arceus also kicked ass and I genuinely hope they do more games like that in the future. If they do Legends Unova I'll go absolutely ape, slash pos. (or whatever it is it seems like they're lurking towards with whatever the next 'big' game is, Unova wise--I genuinely dont think it's BW remakes (which also I don't think they should even make in the first place; the games look FINE, just PORT THEM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.))

Scarlet and Violet's soundtrack goes so fucking hard.

I literally can't draw to save my life, and more than that I hate drawing with a passion, yet I've always had very clear images for pieces of fanart in my head and always thought it was too bad I couldn't make them. But with Amnesia? Oh gosh with Amnesia. This fandom has made me create fanart in my head like no other, and for the first time in my entire life I wish I could draw, I wish I could draw so badly because I want to add to this incredible little world, I want to create and contribute!! I doubt a 22-year-old who can barely even draw a stick figure would be able to do it though; at the very least I wouldn't be able to for like bare minimum 3 years and it just makes me sad

Lim Jisub's mannerism and body language as Seo Jaewon is so intricate and fascinating (sorry for the crappy screencaps I can’t gif to save my life OTL) When Yoonwon tells Bitna about the club rule that underclassmen should refer to upperclassmen by the title sunbae (❌ no oppa and the likes) for a few seconds, Jaewon pulls out of the conversation (even Jihyun is more present, smiling a little at the side) looks at Jihyun from the corner of his eye then down at the table. It’s like he either logs off because the freshmen girls’ cutesy act let’s just say... isn’t his cup of tea OR (and my bet is this) he’s already mourning the loss of his chance to hear Jihuyn call him hyung. That tiny detail explains why he reacts so strongly when Jihyun finally calls him hyung on the beach and I’m in awe bc once again, Lim Jisub is an actor who acts... the TALENT

Marvel Heroes’ Pets Pt 1

Tony: He’d either have a German Shepherd or some other athletic dog that would keep him active and/or a sassy but sweet Main Coon 

Steve: I think the obvious choice would be a Lab, but I see him as having a Bernese mountain dog and a corgi. (He loves both cats and horses, but can’t have either because of allergies. Strangely none of his teammates’ cats bother him.)

Clint: No one can replace Pizza Dog in my heart. But I could also picture Clint with a snake that he keeps around his neck when he’s just chillin. 

Bruce: It’s been established that Hulk loves animals, especially ones that he can cuddle. Bruce, on the other hand, is not much of an animal person, but he does have a couple fish that he watches when he’s feeling especially stressed.

Natasha: She claims to not like animals, but she has a Siamese cat that only comes out of hiding for her, Clint, and Steve.

Thor: He has a lot of pets back in Asgard, but he is no longer to keep them around the mansion since a baby dragon he found nearly burned the place down.

Sam: Like Pizza Dog, Redwing is iconic and I can’t picture Sam with a different pet. I do feel like he’d lowkey be both a dog and cat lover, but not enough to actually own one.

Bucky: He is 100% a cat person and has a Ragdoll and a mixed breed. It drives him crazy that they both love Nat more than him, especially because her cat absolutely loathes him.

Hank: The obvious one would be ants, but I think Hank is fascinated by all kinds of insects. Besides that, I could see him having a few dogs (mostly for Jan’s sake), like an Australian Shepherd and a Labradoodle.
