Hi!! Could I get a stranger things ship? I’m bisexual so no gender preference and I go by she/they pronouns!

Personality: I’m an INFJ and Ravenclaw. I am a leo sun, capricorn moon and libra rising. I am extremely shy and awkward. I am a true introvert and honestly have trouble speaking at all. Appearance: I’m 5’8”, hourglass body shape, chubby/midsize, long wavy dark brown hair (basically black), pale olive toned skin, brown eyes. I have three stick n’ poke tattoos and one professional tattoo. I’m planning on getting loads more! I usually wear dark clothes, mostly black. I like a mixture of feminine and masculine clothes. I like wearing jeans, band tees, skirts and sweaters.

Interests: I have always had a love of the occult. I love anything dark and scary. I watch horror movies practically daily and play mostly horror games (except for the sims 4 lmao). I enjoy reading about true crime and creepy pastas. I am a practicing witch and am super into Tarot/Astrology/Crystals. I do Tarot readings for all of my friends and family and have done everyone’s birth charts. I am a HUGE DnD nerd and am playing in two campaigns at the moment (my favorite being Curse of Strahd). In high-school I was a part of the DnD club. I hope to DM my own game one day. My favorite movie series of all time is Lord of the Rings. It is a huge comfort series for me. I also collect DC comics and LOVEE Batman/Gotham storylines. Besides that, my favorite movies are The Last Unicorn, The Ring and Labyrinth. I am a college student and am majoring in Psychology. I want to become a CBT therapist. I grew up in an artistic household and do art in my free time. I play piano and guitar as well. I adore animals and have volunteered at a Veterinary Clinic. I’ve had pet dogs, cats, rats, fish and turtles. I used to raise butterflies as well. My mom is a librarian, so I am a big reader. The library is definitely a comfort place for me. I enjoy children’s chapter books, horror, fantasy and (some) romance. Some of my favorite books are Daisy Jones and the Six, The Wikkeling, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and Coraline. My parents are both alternative/grunge, so I grew up listening to a lot of rock bands like; Nirvana, The Pixies, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Foo Fighters, Mazzy Star, Ramones etc. I love many genres ranging from heavy metal to country (more 50s-70s country). You guys end up meeting at vet. Eddie had to bring in one of Dustin's cats, as a favor, and you just so happened to be there. He had absolutely no clue what to do because he did not grow up with animals in his household. You end you filling him in on the information and what to do just to have him bluntly tell you that you're gonna have to call Dustin because he didn't understand and just wouldn't be able to remember. The cat was fine it just had a little cold but also needed to be up to date on some shots it needed. You end up calling Dustin and fill him in only for him to try to hook you up with Eddie towards the end of the phone call. You didn't know Eddie but you knew Dustin from classes you had been in with him, even though you are a senior in high school. Dustin persuaded you into a least trying to get to know Eddie. You had seen him be considered the "freak" at school but you never though that he was one. You just didn't know him. Dustin told you that he was really into rock music, knew how to play the guitar, had his own DnD club called "HellFire", and that he also liked horror movies, just like you. You thought it was so bizarre that you had so much in common that you just had to meet him and you guys were made for each other. Eddie was extremely nervous and you ended up talking about your favorite things with each other. You guys ended up going on more dates and then started officially dating. As you were dating Eddie you joined "HellFire" and even made friends with his friends. You became family with them. You also just so happen to get to know Robin, Steve, Jonathan, and Nancy!

Hello! yes i've finally finished it :D my new skin, I know a lot of you have been asking about it so here it is! As some of you know I have spent weeks and weeks perfecting this skin, it's taken a lot of testing and editing. I nearly killed my graphics tablet in the process O_O I love the way it turned out, and guess what...Pores! that was the main focus surrounding this skin, to create realistic pores so our sims don't just look like plastic barbies. I've never seen anyone do it before and wondered why, so i gave it a go and i'm glad I did. I dont recomend heavy make up with this skin, I think the sim looks better with out. Closing the door behind him, Jon let his shoulders sag. At last, the day was over.

Kicking off his shoes, he collapsed onto the couch, not even bothering to take off his work jacket. Cat fur had already started clinging to his lapels, but he couldn’t summon the energy to care. Damn the jacket. He would not move from this spot until Martin came home and bullied him off it.

“Mrrep.”

Jon cracked open an eye just as Lou jumped onto his stomach, shocking a startled breath out of him. Never an ounce of respect for his organs. She snuffled at his suit, then meowed again, insistent; he reached up to scratch just behind her ears, the way she liked. A low purr rumbled in her throat as she started to knead his stomach, claws sinking into his skin. His eyes pricked with tears, but he suffered through it. Anything for wretched, darling Lou.

Eventually, she decided to curl up on his chest, and they laid like that, sleep tugging Jon down until his eyes slipped shut. No . Bad. Had to wait for Martin to get home. Just a little bit longer.

At last, the door opened.

“I’m home, honey.”

Jon pulled his eyes open. He turned over onto his side, knocking an irate Lou out of place. "You've got it backwards."

“I have not.”

“It’s honey, I’m home.”

“Yeah, if you want to sound like a twat. Which I don’t.” Reaching over the couch, Martin touched Jon’s shoulder, eyes bright and affectionate. “Hey there.”

Jon smiled. “Hello.”

Giving his shoulder one small squeeze, Martin turned away, and Jon dutifully waited for him to work through his routine. He checked off all the boxes in his mind: 1. hang up his jacket 2. put his shoes by the door 3. stow away his bag 4. give Lou a greeting pat, scold her for trying to trip him 5. grab a snack from the fridge. When Martin finally rounded the couch, can of soda in hand, Jon obediently lifted his head to make room as he sat down, and he settled on the soft plush of Martin’s thigh. He sighed.

Finally, he could relax.

Taking the remote, Martin flipped through TV channels, browsing idly before landing on some cooking show. His other hand carded through Jon’s hair, and Jon let out a low hum, pleasure coursing through him.

“How was work?” he asked before he was too far gone.

“Fine. Nothing too exciting. Had a few big cake orders, but it’s wedding season, I guess. Frank was causing a bit of a fuss, though.”

“Oh?” Jon smiled at the bite of annoyance in Martin’s tone. “What did Frank do now?”

“Wouldn’t shut up about some game last night. Do I really look like somebody who’d be interested in baseball, Jon? Be honest.”

“I suppose not? I must admit I’m not familiar with all the trappings associated with a baseball fan, however.”

“Yes, well, let’s try and keep it that way.” Martin sipped his drink. “This is a hockey household.”

Jon snorted, his head lolling back in place. Martin’s hand trailed down to the back of Jon’s neck, and Jon arched up to give him better access. He’d been rather stiff all day, thanks to all his documents. 

Then, Martin pressed his thumb into the knot of Jon’s shoulder and let out a low hiss. "Jesus, Jon, did you get a gumball stuck in there or what?"

“I don’t know what you mean,” Jon said, wincing as Martin rolled over the tangle of muscle.

“Like hell you do.” Martin wiggled his hand further under Jon’s shirt, seeking a better angle. “We’re visiting Melissa next week, you hear me? We might be able to squeeze something in before she’s booked solid.”

“I’m fine.”

“Yeah, because you’ve got your own personal masseur on call.”

Jon hummed, pressing his nose into Martin’s thigh. “He’s quite handsome, too.”

“You stop that.”

Chuckling, Jon settled back down, letting Martin work at his shoulder. Eventually, Martin slowed into a more absentminded rhythm, warming the skin of Jon’s neck, before pulling his hand back up and carding through Jon’s hair. He dragged his fingernails across his scalp, and Jon had to hold back a soft sigh, a ripple of pleasure shuddering through him.

This was his favourite part of the day; when Martin managed to make him feel little more than a melting, mindless figment of tender comfort.

Sometime later, after Jon had become firmly ensconced in a syrupy subspace, Martin patted his shoulder.

“Got a little something for you, by the way.”

Jon held back a low groan as Martin pulled away and pushed himself off the couch. This was Jon’s least favourite part of the day, when Martin had to be hauled away for one reason or another. The sound of a gift made the disappointment more bearable, he supposed, and he sat up as Martin returned.

“Cass let us take home some leftovers today.” Martin presented him a box with his workplace’s logo, revealing two small cupcakes. “Surprise! Got you the red velvet.”

“This is going to ruin our dinner, you know,” Jon said, even as he eagerly plucked up his designated treat. Martin snorted as he sat back down.

“Yeah, wouldn’t want to ruin two slices of week-old pizza.”

“Maybe I was going to make that stir-fry tonight. You don’t know that.”

“I can see you’re right on top of it.” Martin pinched his cheek, earning an indignant scowl. “Shut up and eat your cupcake, you.”

Martin took his own vanilla cupcake and Jon leaned into his arm. He peeled the confetti wrapper off and took a bite, savouring the sweet flavour and moist, spongy texture. Martin’s bakery really did have the best. No wonder everyone wanted their wedding cakes; he just hoped they had a variety in red velvet, for someday in the future. As he chewed, though, he noted that something tasted off. “Did they change the cream cheese recipe?”

“I dunno. Maybe?”

Jon angled his head, because this was important as Jon had rather liked that cream cheese, but he paused. Martin was dragging his tongue along the edge of the cupcake, slow and indulgent, eyes slid shut.

Jon should have scolded him, because there was a proper way to eat a cupcake, goddammit. Any other time he would have. But he was still feeling warm and sleepy from Martin touching him, his tongue heavy in his mouth, and all he could do was watch.

Martin’s tongue flicked out again, soft and pink, slightly stained with purple dye, and a thrill of something hot pulsed deep in Jon’s lower belly.

That … that was …

“Got something on my face?”

Jon blinked. Martin was looking at him with a lifted brow. Oh. Oh, he’d been staring.

“I, uh …”

With an exaggerated eye roll, Martin huffed, bringing the cupcake back to his mouth. "Yes, yes, I know, it's not the proper way to eat a cupcake. We all have our little indulgences, you know.”

Jon swallowed, tearing his eyes away and back to his own cupcake. “…Yes. Right.”

They ate their cupcakes and watched television. Afterwards, they reheated their pizza, Jon recounting his own anecdotes of the day. They took turns washing up in the bog, and then they got ready for bed.

And through it all, Jon was … thinking.

Maxis Match Skintones V2! Warms and Cools redone, plus new Neutrals!

Hey everyone! I'm back with something that I should've done right the first time! My Skintones! I know the original was awesome, but this one is even better! I have been noticing in CAS that my old Maxis Match Skintones had... kind of bad textures. Only the normal ones though, the fantasy ones are still fine (you can find them in my original Maxis Match Skintones post). But the normal tones, the warms and cools, had pixelated textures in some areas and weren't very smoothly blending in others. I think it had something to do with how I created them, but that's aside the point, I could've left it alone, like its no big deal, but me being the perfectionist that I am, I wanted to fix them, and I actually quite enjoyed it! The skins are now very smooth and blend seamlessly with overlays and default replacement skins. The colors are rich, not ashy like Maxis', but not overpowering in color.

Note by the creator! I do not know if these work with tanning in Island Living! I have not been able to purchase Island Living yet, so if anyone has these skins in their games and uses them with Island Living, please let me know if they work with tanning or not so I can fix them! Thank you!

The Sims 4 Star Wars Journey to Batuu: Community’s First Impressions

When EA revealed The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu during today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, players in the community took to social media to let their opinion on the game be known. It’s basically Strangerville but with a super niche audience. No one will get most of the references unless they’re a Star Wars fan. It’ll probably provide an hour of gameplay and that’s it. Ngl though it looks well made

I personally don't see a place for it in the Sims franchise as an actual in-world location. The Sims is supposed to be a life simulation at heart with fantasy thrown in. Not a badly disquised advert for a completely different I.P. If I wanted to play a Star Wars game I'd buy one.

Definitely not a pack I would enjoy. Either for the game content. Storyline or the build and buy it all looked very uninteresting, I may still enter in some giveaways for the pack but this will be the 2nd pack including bowling I will never purchase. Just not enough in it:)

I hoped it wasn't going to be star wars when I heard. I don't have anything against the franchise, it's the fact that it' so highly specific and caters to a different audience is what baffles me. It's obvious that it's something that was pushed by EA to advertise their new game.

sims 4 rant - the new expansion pack is Star Wars, whyyyyy

I've been a fan of Star Wars forever, but this pack is a poor decision on EA's part. I would have loved this if they did original alien and space content and expanded on their own Sixam concept... but my sims live in a world that simulates the world we live in, just, with the dial turned up to ten. Definitely not the Star Wars universe. 

I look around at this world we really live in and I think, what if there were witches, what if there were aliens, what if there were vampires? What if there was an economy that was balanced enough that every young adult could afford their own house?

Maybe it IS possible those things exist, you never know! How cool is that to explore? But, like, those are things the inhabitants of Earth have actually believed in. Even strangerville reflects a certain real possibility in terms of government coverups and dangerous experimental science.

Many people have stared out at the real ocean and thought "you never know, maybe there ARE mermaids" but NO one has ever looked around at the irl world that this game simulates and thought "Hmm, you never know, maybe Darth Vader IS a real person" It completely breaks me from my willing suspension of disbelief,  and doesn't match anything about this game I like to play. It doesn't have to be really real, cow plants are fine, but it can't be real fiction... like, i think it's super cool there are vampires, but I would HATE it if Lestat and the other Anne Rice characters were Sims townies, right?

Like, say you were playing a Star Wars game okay, and one of the characters was legit like, this is my pokemon! :) and the developers were like, we made a DLC pack, now you can collect pokemon in our Star Wars game! There's gyms and trainers and everything, c'mon, I know you like pokemon, don't you? And like yes, I do, but it very much ruins my experience of the Star Wars universe to have Mewtwo running around making snide comments to the storm troopers. Similarly while I'd LOVE to have a playable neighborhood on the existing Sims alien planet Sixam, having literal Star Wars characters and recognizable Star Wars designs is just going to ruin the whole atmosphere. My sims are going to college and their dorm mate is what, applying to be a fighter pilot in the rebel alliance? Has an actual real R2 unit next to my mini-fridge?

Nothing about this makes any sense to me, and yet it is SO CLOSE to something I'd be excited for, like generational development of technology, or expansion on Sixam and existing alien types, etc. 

Ultimately this is just a game and I simply won't buy this part of it, so, whatever, I'm not going to flip my lid about it. But it IS frustrating to know they spent so much time and money on this when clearly what most of their players want is like, the damn cupboards to match the counters and love seats to go with the couches and a couple universal swatches for colors on things like doors and windows so you can mix and match any of them and make them go together in your builds; skin tones and body types/features and better hair, babies and more family relationship content, maybe cars and, idk, the ability to have each sim have their own bank account. Y'know, things that SIMULATE some version of REALITY and give players both control and immersion in a fantasy remake of real life. How can they fall so short in understanding the appeal of their own game?

We're talking about a community that, when asked to create our own game pack, got very exited about functional laundry mechanics... when asked what they really wanted to see in this game, the community was like “MORE MUNDANE CHORES PLEASE. I mean,  I can't imagine a game/consumer base LESS suited to a Star Wars adventure game expansion, and they've obviously ignored their most loyal customers, which is frustrating.

I still love Star Wars, but if I want a Star Wars adventure, I'll go buy a Star Wars adventure game, and I am 100% certain if I do, the action sequences and fighting mechanics will be better than Sims Star Wars.

I'm just going to skip this expansion all together, and hope they start making the content we're actually hoping for soon. Maybe they can fix the completely bugged NAP mechanics from Eco Lifestyle once they're done with this Star Wars nonsense

what is Ebon Light?

 just a village girl / living in a fantasy world / taking a midnight ship going anywhereeee  a dark fantasy visual novel game created by underbliss; a tumblr post of it can be found here and it is also downloadable through itch.io

tldr; the premise of the game: a girl gains a mysterious power that talks to her, and also runs into a bunch of elves. i think i’ve spent enough hours on this that i was compelled to write a long review on this (and also encourage mutuals to play this, if it is something that seems like your jam). Minor spoilers might pop up in this review, but nothing that should give away too much plot things. 

just to calibrate expectations properly, the game creator seems to have mentioned that this is definitely weighted more towards the fantasy visual novel side than the usual otome game side, so don’t expect like, a ton of CG scenes or sappy moments.

on the other hand, there are enough strong romantic developments in this that it feels like an otome-game adjacent game to me (something in the vibe of persona 3 or persona 4?? where the story takes some precedence over the dating sim bits, but the dating bits are also a significant part of the whole experience?). at any rate, this has both a fun fantasy plot with threads of horror vibes and thoughtful relationship building moments!

things i liked

the worldbuilding there are different lands and creatures mentioned in the lore, and even though u only see bits of it, it really makes the setting feel lived-in. and yep, there are elves--that’s where the fantasy part of this comes in. But like, if the elves were from a warrior culture and had swords and daggers and assassins and shady political struggles in the background :D

the MC the MC’s skin color, hair, and name, are all customizable! later on, you also get to do stuff like change into a few different clothing options, and some eye makeup stuff. besides that, the MC takes a very active part in shaping the plot--do you want your MC to talk her way out of trouble? sure! would you rather have her pick up an improvised weapon and fight instead? you can also do that! i also appreciate that even in the very beginning scene the MC is mentioned as trading for goods in her village and looking for edible plants in the forest and just doing stuff

the art dark, gothic mood, lots of gray-blue clouds and purple and muted, melancholy tones, lots of forest and ocean landscapes, and somewhat gloomy manors plus interesting character designs! 

Warnings for content (some spoilers to follow) i don’t think there’s much to warn for at all in this game? it’s probably appropriate for teens and up to play. there are some horror elements, but no gore or extreme violence, and some death scenes for the MC depending on your choices, but again, there really isn’t any blood/major injuries shown on screen. 

if there is anything to warn for, it would probably be some amount of psychological manipulation by the power that the girl gains, bad dreams that are hard to distinguish from what is happening in reality, the depiction of an explosion/fire around the halfway point of the story, and mentions of a possibly obsessive relationship between background characters.

first impression: ahh he looks smiley and sweet? is he going to get betrayed? brainwashed? is he going to get betrayed and brainwashed into forgetting you???

reality: yes, he is just as sweet as he appears, overall a gentle and considerate character type concerned with your feelings and well-being, probably knows what the geneva convention is just ignore that they don’t have the geneva convention in this setting my point still stands 

Haron

first impression: he’s a flirt huh

reality: yeahhh, he’s a flirt but also more emotionally expressive by miles compared to everyone else...Nice

Ernol

first impression: me, reading his character description---serious, focused on warrior stuff, craves the approval of his role models?? hm. sounds boring.

reality:  ernol, practically snarling: “if any assassins come after you, i will fight them for you!!”

me: ...hey...hey...u can’t just Say things like that, give a girl some warning...i can’t believe this this is my Exact Weakness :’’)

seems the most emotionally cold, but actually FEELS ALL THE FEELINGS most intensely, immediately shot up to the top of my favorite love interests list after playing thru that route 

*note: there seems to be a minor bug on ernol’s route where after the relationship upgrade/confession conversation, when you click on his character picture it shows a dark broken heart symbol instead of 2 red hearts as expected? i just played the game through anyways, and seemed to still have gotten to a good end, so i ignored it

Laceaga

first impression: the mean grumpy one?? 

reality: i expect it’s a bit of an enemies-to-lovers slow burn thing, based on what other commenters have said, and im looking forward to it 

Duliae

first impression: ohhh boy, i bet his personality is 90% “words can’t hurt me, my shades are gucci” ヽ(⌐■_■)ノ♪♬

reality: idk but to my best guess it’s likely something like *slaps the roof of a car* this long lifespan can fit so much Angst in it!!

august book round up

22 books this month! which is the most i’ve ever read in a month i think. most of them audiobooks. i usually don’t listen to audiobooks while i’m at work but since we’re doing a lot of repetitive data entry these past several weeks i can afford to. also it helps with drowning out my obnoxious coworkers whom i fucking: hate.

temeraire 8: blood of tyrants - naomi novik ⭐️⭐️⭐️ i liked this a little better for rereading it, though i will always and forever hate amnesia plots. i remembered soooooo many things wrongly about this book it’s ridiculous! it did contain one of the highlights of the series: laurence saving tharkay, for once.  

temeraire 9: league of dragons - naomi novik ⭐️⭐️⭐️ eh. a satisfactory end, but it let me down in so many ways. NOTHING HAPPENED for so much of this book, it meandered aimlessly and so many of the resolutions were underwhelming (ning in particular was just sort of... there). don’t get me wrong, there was some VERY GOOD character stuff... but goddammit i wanted more! (ps laurence/tharkay 4 life, naomi novik is a coward) 

just jorie - robin alexander ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ another VERY CUTE lesbian romance, this time a late in life coming out, which is a genre i think i’m starting to really enjoy lol. robin alexander’s characters are very true to life, and there’s something about her writing style that’s just very very appealing in a romance. and the narrator for the audiobook was super talented. definitely going to be on the lookout for more of her books.

a charm of magpies 1-3 - k.j. charles ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ AHHHHH. SO GOOD. witchery and adventure and history and SO MANY GOOD TROPES. i’m definitely a fan of k.j. charles, this was the second series of hers that i’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed. lucien and stephen were such good characters, played very well to the sappy romantic FOOL in me heart. i loved reading about them falling in love. T__T also: tol and smol. very good.

jackdaw - k.j. charles ⭐️⭐️⭐️ spin off novel of the charm of magpies series. i enjoyed it; not really a ‘redemption’ book, but tells the story of one of the minor villains and had me rooting for him all the way. his love interest ben was one of those unfailingly GOOD people who made me want the best for him.

a queer trade - k.j. charles ⭐️⭐️⭐️ a short story that introduces the characters of the next charm of magpies book. yay black men in historical romance!

rag and bone - k.j. charles ⭐️⭐️⭐️ another enjoyable instalment, though it didn’t have me as hooked as the first three stories did. one thing i like about k.j. charles is that she explores all aspects of victorian england. i would have never expected to read about a waste paper man as one of the heroes of a romance novel, but here we are. sort of fell short on the sympathetic warlock storyline, but i enjoyed it.

think of england - k.j. charles ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ murder! mystery! blackmail! spies! scheming guests at a house party in the country! all of these parts of the book were very good but the romance was the best. A Wounded Vet Learns to Love. also there are surprise lesbians. let me tell you, so many m/m books could be improved with a sprinkling of dykes.

the children of gavrilek 1-3 - julie kirton chandler ⭐️ it pains me to rate this book so lowly. physically pains me. i recced this book on a femslash post years ago without reading it, i just saw the synopsis and read an extract and it seems good. it COULD have been good. the first book in the series was weak, but had promise, the second started off SO STRONG but fizzled hard, and the third was a fucking travesty nightmare. god i don’t even want to talk about it.

beneath the surface - harper bliss ⭐️⭐️⭐️ after subjecting myself to the children of gavrilek i went hunting through my shelves for something with cute lesbians and settled on this, the second in a series about austrailian gays. it was pretty good! it’s about a long term relationship and their ups and downs throughout 20 years of being wives. i like when books show you what comes AFTER the happily every after.

femme - marshall thornton ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ a really sweet m/m comedy romance, that tackled intra-community discrimination in a way that managed to be serious and genuine but still stuck to the light-hearted tone. joel leslie on audio killed it as usual.

40 souls to keep - libby drew ⭐️⭐️⭐️ neat concept (guy wakes up with amnesia and gradually discovers that he’s been tasked to save 40 souls, after which he’ll be given back his memories) and style, but the execution flopped a bit. always unfortunate when you figure out who the villain in a crime/mystery is, 20 seconds after he’s introduced. cute though, really liked the love interest.

blackmail, my love - katie gilmartin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ favourite book of the month maybe? a mystery/suspense set in the 1950s about a lesbian searching for her missing gay brother. in her search she gets pulled into a whirlwind of blackmail, murder, and the queer nightlight of san francisco. this was painfully good, well researched and lovingly written, and it’ll stay with me for a long time.

boundaries - jane retzig ⭐️⭐️⭐️ lesbian romance; dealt very competently with abuse and youthful longing and growing up. there were a few narrative things that left me ?_? (ALICE SHOULD BE IN JAIL) but i enjoyed it overall.

a king undone - cooper davis ⭐️ bad bad bad. m/m fantasy romance that dragged. you could find more chemistry in a primary school baking soda volcano. someone tell this author that they’re allowed to say ‘men’ and not ‘male’ all the time.

axel’s pup - kim dare ⭐️⭐️⭐️ see, this was well written and appropriately slow burny and had so much meaty character interaction and a decent enough plot and world-building but when it comes down to it... MAN i hate lifestyle d/s.  it's all fun and spankings until character b needs to fucking. ask character a’s permission to visit his dying grandfather, and then my skin starts crawling away from my body i’m so skeeved off. subjective! character b was chill with it! but oooof.

lillian byrd 1: holy hell - elizabeth sims ⭐️⭐️⭐️ lesbian murder mystery with a splash of comedy ahoy. this was okay but also meh. we just flat out knew who the killers were pretty early on; the books pretty much became about proving motive. which wasn’t as entertaining. also (and this is one of the FEW times you’ll hear me say this) i’m not sure we needed the romance.

a hundred thousand words - nyrae dawn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ new adult m/m romance, very cute. the love interested was open and honest in a way that surprised me, it was so atypical of your run of the mill romance character. and i liked the way this dealt with family and friendships and getting to know and develop YOURSELF. this book surprised me with how much i liked it.

that’s it for august! no grand plans for september; i’ve gotten a bunch of extra stuff dumped on me at work and i won’t be surprised if i don’t read as much. but there’ll still be lots of romance, i’m betting. currently reading the first in the society of gentlemen series, which i’m liking very much.
