Alright Tumblr, help me make the important decisions:
Now that I've started drawing again I think I might actually be up to the task.
(if you vote yes, maybe put in the tags what kind of bow you think he'd shoot.)

Keeping Secrets
I had an idea about Eliot and a single mom of an eight year old, and I couldn't get it out of my head. I hope you enjoy!
Takes place around season two.
Content: mention of a kid slipping on a flight of stairs, bruises, and single parenting
Tumblr media
" Look, we need this for the job. I know it's short notice, but you said you have some on hand."
"I said I had half finished ones. It would take at least six hours of painting to finish. Then the process to make the paint cure and ageing takes another four. I can't Nate." I say into my phone as I add cut carrot to the pot of soup on the stove, then turn to glance at my daughter drawing at the table. "I have priorities that are outside the team that are more important then conning someone."
" Alright. I talk to Hardison, see what he can cook up."
"Good plan. I'm sorry I couldn't help. See ya."
I pull the phone away and hangup, tucking it into my pocket. I turn back to the pot on the stove and give the contents a stir.
The call with Nate still on my mind after dinner, even though I tried to punch it out of my mind and focus on Odette
After she went to bed I texted Hardison to make sure it was all good, which it was of course, but the guilt of not telling the team was starting to get to me. Especially not telling Eliot.
He and I would flirt and dance around each other all the time, we have since I joined the team. But I still keep my life private, being one of the best forgers is dangerous. Even if it's part time.
The next morning I bring her to school, making sure to sign her field trip permission slip, then give her a long hug, before sending her inside.
I head to McRory's to check in and do some legitimate work.
I walk into Nate's apartment, finding him and Hardison there with security feeds on the screens.
" Hey guys. How's it going?"
" It's going. Managed to pull something together. Not as good as yours but it's getting the job done." Nate says with out looking at me.
"I'm sure he did a great job." I reply as I pull out my sketch book to work at Nate's dinner table.
"Nice of you to join us." Eliot's voice cracks through the comms.
"Nice hear you too, El. Sorry I couldn't help last night."
"S'alright. Hardison managed. But I'd love to hear about what kept you busy."
"Was it a date?" Parker asks.
" Kinda."
"Oh? Who with?"
"Somebody special. Now can we stop talking about my personal life?"
The rest day passes with out much excitement. The team comes and goes and soon enough we are all down in the pub. I note that school let out thirty minutes ago, but Odette has a practice for a school play for an hour and a half after school. Meaning I hang out for another half hour with the team, then head to pick her up, and grab some take out on the way home.
A light touch at my elbow makes me jump and turn to see Eliot grinning at me.
"Didn't mean to scare you, darlin'. I was just asking if you had plans later."
I let out a sigh and look down. This isn't the first time he's asked that, and I doubt it will be the last. He's asked me out before, but the thought Odette getting attached to him like I have, or getting caught up in something scares me enough to not risk it.
" I do. I'm sorry, Eliot."
"With the someone from last night?"
"Yeah. But please, Eliot, I want to keep my private life, private."
" I understand. I won't push it, but I wish you'd tell me why we do this dance, yet you always have mysterious plans."
" I know. But I can't tell you, El."
" Because you don't trust me?" His voice is low as he looks at his feet.
I step close to him, I cup his cheek and make him look at me.
"Eliot, I trust you with my life. But this is something I can't risk, this part of my life shouldn't touch the other side."
"What do you think would happen?"
"I don't know, and I am terrified to find out. But if something changes, you will be the first to know, okay?"
A small smile crosses his face, I return his smile and press a kiss to the corner of his mouth. I wish I could let my self fall for him with out a care, kiss him properly, but I can't.
I pull away and step back, taking a deep breath, I grab my stuff and turn back to him.
"Good night, Eliot."
"Good night."
I turn and head out the door and once in the safety of my car I relax just a little. I check the time, almost an hour to kill till pick up, I drive over to Odette's school and park. I pull out my sketch book and wait.
*************
A rapid knock on my car window pulls my attention away from work to find my daughter's face pressed against the glass making a face, causing a laugh to bubble out of my chest.
When she pulls away I roll my window down.
"Hey kiddo! How's was today?"
"Good. Miss. Anne read to us and we got to make a recipe form the book."
"Cool! Hop in and you can tell me more on the way home."
She grins and runs to her side of the back seat, tossing her turquoise backpack next to her. She buckles in and kicks of her shoes before she begins retelling her day of school, while I drive towards home, stopping for take out on the way.
*********
"Are you okay, Mom?" She asks suddenly during dinner.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine, just thinking about work."
"Just work?"
I let out a sigh.
"I got asked on a date tonight before I left."
She lets out a shriek of excitement and starts bouncing in her seat.
"Was it Eliot? Did you say yes? Please say you said yes !!"
"Yes, it was Eliot, and no, I didn't say yes."
Her excitement fades, making my heart ache.
"But why? You like him a lot. You talk and tell stories about him all the time. You've even drawn him."
"Because it's complicated, love. We work together and it might end badly and mess up the friendship we have. And you. I don't want you to get hurt."
"But you like him!"
" Odette. It's not happening. I'm sorry."
She lets out a dramatic sigh and slumps back in her chair.
It's silent for a few minutes, then she starts telling me about something that happened during the play rehearsal.
*********
The con had been rough to say the least. A mark with trust issues, a head goon who was actually good at his job, and a forged master piece all part of Nate's plan. At least I wasn't a main option grifting or thieving.
Hardison, Parker and I were sitting in a booth while Nate and Sophie talked with the client. I was laughing at something Parker said, when out of the corner of my eye I see the flash of my phone ringing.
My heart drops to my stomach when I read her teacher's name.
"Shit." I mutter as I pick it up to answer.
"What? What's wrong?" Hardison asks as he looks at me concerned.
I ignore him as I put it to my ear.
"Hello? Anne, what's up?"
"Hi, Y/N, I'm calling because of an incident that happened during the field trip today."
"What happened? Is Odette okay?"
"We were at the top of the steps to the second floor of the museum, the kids were a few steps ahead of Rick and I, and her foot slipped on a step. And she fell about four feet to the next landing "
I try to stand, but the table of the booth stops me in my tracks.
"What?"
"I know, it's not the best news. And I feel terrible that it happened but she's ok. A small scrape on her knee and some bruises. I wish it had never happened but it could have been so much worse."
"Are you back at the school? Should I come get her?"
"We are at the school. She asked me to call you to come and get her. She seems ok for the most part, I think it just scared her."
"I'm on my way. I'll be there in twenty."
"Alright, I'll let her know. See you soon."
I pull the phone away from my ear and shove it in my pocket. I grab my stuff, slide from the booth, and head for the door.
" Yo, where you goin'?" Hardison calls after me.
" It's private. Tell the others I had to cut out early."
I head for the door of McRory's trying to dodge people, but failing as I run in to someone, nearly falling on my face.
But a familiar scent of warmth and spices floods my nose as a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist. Eliot.
"Careful, darlin'. Where you off to in such a rush."
"I'm sorry it's hard to explain. I have to go." I say to him as I detangle my self from his arms and rush out the front door.
I make it to my car and toss my bag in the passenger seat, start the engine, and pull out of my spot and head towards the school.
************
I practically run through the school to Odette's class room. I open the door to find her sitting on a beanbag chair with her teacher and a book.
She looks up when I enter, and starts to wiggle to get up. Once on her feet she runs over to me, and I drop to my knees to hug her tight.
"Hey, baby."
"Hi, momma." Her voice muffled by my shoulder.
I pull away from her and look over her arms and see a bruse forming on her upper left arm, some on her leg, and a few scrapes on her knees. I cup her face and kiss her forehead.
"Let's get you home, okay baby?"
She nods, then pulls away to grab her backpack.
I look to her teacher, who is now standing, then walk to give her a quick hug as well.
"Thank you, Anne, for taking care of her."
"You're welcome. I took her to the nurse when we got here, nothing broken, just bumps and bruises."
I offer her my hand, which she takes and holds tight, then we say goodbye to her teacher, and head to the car.
I give her a nod, then turn back to Odette who looks all too ready to go home.
Once she's settled in her seat, I get in as well, and head home.
A few minutes into the drive my phone starts to ring, I answer without looking at the contact.
"Hello?"
"Hey, I just wanted to check in. You flew out of here like a bat outta hell." Eliot grumbles with a concerned tone.
"Yeah. I'm okay. But it's personal. I might be out for a day or two."
" Hardison said it sounded serious. You sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine, it's just-"
My sentence is interrupted from the back seat, loud enough I know Eliot hears.
"Momma? Can we get pizza for dinner? With olives? Please?"
I glance at her in the rearview, she's barely awake, her eyes heavy and head lulling to the side.
"Sure thing, love." I say to her, receiving a sleepy smile in return.
Eliot is still silent on the other side of the line. I let to go a second longer, then start to speak.
"Look, I have to go. I see you when I see you."
I hear him try to say something, but ignore it and hang up. I know is rude to hang up on someone like that, but he already heard Odette, and it was the only way to not have to answer his questions.
************
As I pull into the driveway, I see Eliot leaning against the side of his truck, arms crossed and staring a hole into the ground.
I park next to him and shut the car off. I let out a sigh as he looks at me through the window. I toss my keys in my bag, swing it to my shoulder, open my door to climb out, then shut it quietly so I don't wake Odette.
I walk around to the front of the car and stand a few feet in front of Eliot. We stand in silence, just starring at each other.
"Hi, Eliot."
"That all you got to say. You ran out of the pub, then when I called to check in you brush it off, and then to top it off I hear a kid your car call you mom."
His tone is calm and even, but I know him well enough to know he's boiling under the surface.
" It's complicated, Eliot."
" Is it? Is that what you have been keeping a secret all this time? Why?"
"Because she is my whole world, and if something happened to her because of a job I would never forgive myself."
"Is she the reason you always said no?" His voice quiet and heartbreaking.
I take a step closer to him and cup his face in my hands.
"Eliot. You have no idea how many times I have wanted to say yes to you. How many times I have dreamt about what would happen if I did. But if I take that leap and something happens, it won't be just me who would be heartbroken."
"You think I'd hurt you?"
"Not on purpose. But with the jobs we pull, and the danger we put ourselves in, there are somethings we can't control. And if something happened to you during a job, and you didn't get back up."
I stop short, the lump that had been growing in my throat making it hard to speak. His hands come up to hold my head.
"I get it. I do. But you can't live with that fear forever."
"I know, I just-"
I cut off at the sound of a car door opening, and a sleepy voice calling my name.
I pull my head from Eliot's hands and turn to look at Odette, who looking between us confused and tired at the same time.
"Hey, baby." I hold my arm out to her as I take a step back from Eliot. "Come here, I want you to meet someone."
She walks over to us, never taking her eyes of Eliot. She hugs my waist, and I wrap and arm around her shoulders.
"Odette, this is El-"
" He's Eliot. I recognize him from your drawings." She says with a cheerful tone.
I feel my face heat up as I close my eyes, a low chuckle come from Eliot, causing me to open my eyes.
He's trying to fight a smile, the corners of his eyes crinkle as he looks between Odette and I.
"Not a word."
He raises his hand in surrender, then squats down to be eye level with Odette, offering his hand to her.
"You're right, I'm Eliot. And who might you be?"
" I'm Odette." She says shaking his hand.
"It's good to meet you."
I watch the interaction with a smile on my face. It's going better then I ever could have hoped. My feelings for Eliot growing more intense as he talks to Odette.
Odette's voice pulls me from my thoughts.
"Momma?"
"Yes, baby?"
"Can Eliot stay for supper?"
She has a pleading look in her eyes. I look to Eliot who is already looking at me with a soft smile.
"Sure. You asked for pizza earlier, you still want that?"
"Yes!"
"Alright," I laugh at her excitement, " go get your backpack and we'll go inside."
She lets out a squeak, then runs to the car. I look to Eliot as he stands up.
"Are you sure you want to stay?" I ask him.
"Yeah. I'm sure. I got win her over if I want to date you don't I? You come as a package."
We share a smile, then when Odette comes back with her backpack, we head inside.
Once inside I take Odette to her room to change and to give her a once over my self. She has bruises and scratches all down her side and on her arm and leg. The scrapes all ready treated my the school nurse.
"Oh baby. I'm sorry you have so many bruises. Do they hurt?"
"A little. But not bad, just when I poke them like this."
I watch as she pokes a dark bruise, then flinches. I pull her hands away, and hold them.
"Well don't poke them if they hurt. Why don't you pick out some comfys and get changed. Then we can go make Eliot watch a Disney movie. I don't think he's ever seen one."
She lets out a shocked gasp then runs to her dresser.
I leave her room and walk back to where I left Eliot in the living room. I find him looking at the wall full of photos from the day Odette was born, to one I took at the beginning of the school year.
I watch at he stops at a picture of me holding Odette when she was maybe eight months old, with matching grins on our faces.
"That one is my favorite." I say to him.
He spins around like he got caught looking at something he shouldn't.
"She looks like you."
I nod, walking forward to stand next to him.
"She also looks like my dad." I point to to picture of him and I.
Eliot nods, then takes a breath to say something, but let's it out without a word.
"What? What were you gonna ask?"
"Where's her dad? I don't want to step in anything."
I shake my head, slip my hand into his and give it a squeeze.
"You aren't stepping in anything. He was a one night stand. I don't think he ever even told me his name."
"So you did it all on your own?"
"Pretty much. My family helped as much as they could, and I took as much legit work as I could find, but then when Nate approached and asked for a favor, I said yes. Plus the paycheck was nothing to laugh at."
His face scrunches.
"You knew Nate before you joined the team?"
"Yeah. He and my dad worked together at IYS. My dad left because he couldn't stand Blackwell. But he kept in touch with Nate over the years."
He let's out a huff of a laugh, and shakes his head.
"I ordered a pizza while you were in there."
"You didn't have to do that."
"I wanted to. Made sure it had olives." He gives me a knowing smile.
"Well then you have won Odette's heart already."
"What about yours?"
"You won that a long time ago." I lean up and press kiss to his cheek.
I pull away when I hear little feet pound down the hallway, into the living room, then she bounces onto the couch.
Soon enough the pizza arrives, and we enjoy dinner in the living room. Eliot and Odette getting along like they've known each other for years, rather then an hour and half at most.
After dinner, and clean up, Eliot tries to leave, but Odette uses her professional puppy eyes get him to give in to her pleas for him to stay.
He finally caves and sits rigid of the couch while Odette diggs through our movie collection, and settling on Lilo and Stitch.
We manage to Eliot to relax, jacket and boots by the door, and sitting on the couch next to me, Odette squeezed between us, and a blanket over the three of us.
I notice Odette stops wiggling half way through the movie. I turn to check on her, and find he asleep, her face pressed into Eliot arm. He looks more relaxed then I have ever seen him in the entire time I've known him.
He turns to look at me and we share a smile.
When the movie is done, I turn it off, then get up and go to scoop Odette to bring her to bed, but Eliot raises a hand to stop me.
"I got her."
He moves slowly, so he doesn't wake her. Cradling her head, then lifting her into his arms resting her head on his shoulder.
I lead him to her room and open the blankets for him to lay her down. He lay's her among the blankets like she's made of glass. I pull the blankets up and tuck her in snugly, press a kiss to her head, then we both creep out of the room, latching the door behind us.
We walk back to the living room, sitting close enough the our legs are touching. He leans his head on the back of the couch, exposing his neck. It's a position I had never seen him in before, probably because it left his neck vulnerable, but it also made me want to kiss his neck. He looks peaceful. Head back, eyes closed, body completely relaxed.
" I can feel you starring."
I breathe out a laugh, then shift to sit on my knees, lean over him, cupping his face in my hand, turning his head gently towards me, the scruff on his cheek is rough against my palm. I lean down and kiss him. I feel him take a deep breath, then his hand comes up to hold the wrist of the hand on his cheek as he kisses me back.
It doesn't last long, but it's enough to take my breath away. When I pull away, he's already looking at me, his blue eyes fulls of confusion and hope.
"I've been wanting to do that for a long time." I whisper, rubbing my thumb along his cheek.
" So have I, darlin'. Can I kiss you again?"
I nod, leaning into him again. He wraps and arm around my waist, lifting and dragging me into his lap, wrapping both arms tight around me.
"Can I take you in a date?" He asks, pulling away just enough to mumble against my lips.
I humm in response, then lean in for another kiss.
Time seems to disappear as we sit there, making out like teenagers. We eventually separate, trying to catch our breaths. It's quiet, until he asks something I hoped he'd forgotten about.
" Did you really draw me enough that she could recognize me?"
I let out a groan and drop my head to his shoulder, his laugh ringing through the room.

Leverage 1x07
I’m starting to buy the tension between Eliot and Hardison. Eliot just learned basic photoshop lol. Love Hardison's attempts at awkward bonding, I buy that way more than they straight up dislike each other.
I’m sad we don’t get to hear Gina Bellman do a Jersey Mafia Wife accent.
Aww Sophie has a friend!
Yeah, why is Hardison being so down on himself??
At first I was like, I hope they let the daughter be a Mafia Princess Bitch. The cynic in me just does not have a lot of hope for sociopathic families. But the minute she was like, “Uh, Mom… I think releasing the doves is a bit much…” - “Shut up, Maria,” all my Say Yes To The Dress instincts perked up. Screw Mom! This is YOUR wedding! Seat your college friends wherever you want!
Parker telling the bridesmaid that yes, the dress does make her look fat, and not even picking up the social queues after the fact, is the first real Awkward Social Situation I’ve bought from her. Most of the stuff prior could be read as charming (I’m not like other girls I don’t like shoes, haha I taught this kid how to pick a lock). I absolutely see how Parker could become isolated.
Also REALLY buying the Parker/Hardison tension in the bridesmaids’ dress. “You really think I look good?” “You look perfect.” Stawp.
Side note that’s only relevant to me: I’m a little fascinated by the mob wife. I think she’s so picky because she doesn’t really know what she wants or what’s “high quality,” she just knows there’s a nebulous, upper class ideal she’s desperately aiming for. Explains why she would marry into money, despite the cheating and general immorality. (And sorry not sorry, I legit know so many women from Long Island that are like this.)
“I didn’t do anything wrong for her [my high school sweetheart] to dump me. I liberated Croatia.” “Do you think the Butcher of Kiev will recognize you?” Ooh, I’m suddenly very invested in Eliot’s backstory this episode! Fun B movie vibes 🥰☠️
“And that bride - what’s her name? - I’m not gonna let her down either!” I’m dying 😂
Between that, the incompetent FBI, and Eliot’s cooking, this is the funniest episode.
Omg of course the step mom is wearing white to this wedding. I kinda like the 80s prom look for the bridesmaid dresses tho ngl.
I hope this marriage is still legit despite the fake priest officiating lol. (Pretty sure all that matter is the certificate).
Nate/Sophie - I love mess 🥰 They're just projecting their own issues all over this damn wedding. Real Parent Energy. I love that for them.
“A wedding’s just a big con, huh?” “I never said there was anything wrong with that.” The ROMANCE this episode, istg!

Leverage Log: The Real Fake Car Job
Well with a title like that, im left wondering the syntactical ambiguity. Is this a job about a fake car that turns out to secretly be real, or was there a "fake" Fake Car Job that its being contrasted against? Guess we'll see. --- No way this show starts with mistaken identity, so im betting its Witnes Protection covering a criminal's ass like usual. --- Parker looks at this guy's track record of gettign in with the maffia as a get-out-of-jail freecard and just makes a note. --- Since when do libraries charge for wifi? --- Hardison should invest in like, a small trailer for behind lucille. Keep Lucile clean. --- Oh thats bad... the show is seeding the question of "can Nate live a normal life without these high-stakes heists all the time", which is not a good indicator of his surviving the season finale. --- So he's selling the free wifi to afford his mini-cars. (good scam, low level enough most people wont even bother, allow himself to continue his hobbies a little without getting authorities called on him. Its a good con. Small scale, practical.) This guy is good at being bad. --- So the fake car is the Mussolini's car, which is gonna turn out to be the actual car they're looking for by accident? Is that what the title is about? --- Parker sold the "doesnt know about cars but found the Musselcar in her gramps' shack" character well enough, but if she's meant to play the "doesnt actually know what cars are what" character, maybe throw in a line asking about the colour of "Phil's" Alpha Romeo --- Witness Protection Bodyguard's got a good play with the GPS Tracker on the phone. (is the serving tray a bug or is it a bomb? Who knows? At this point i dont see a reason it couldnt be both) --- So he calls his car friend, from his old life. His old life, laundering money for the Maffia. Guess who's about to be assasinated! --- Is it the Wifi Money? Couple months as a librarian, couple dozen people using the wifi a day on average... Maybe a couple other minor side-hustles round town, could really add up. Especially if he suspects Italian-Parker to be naive enough... (turns out im right, i stopped the episode the moment Hardison said he hadnt accessed any banks for the money) --- Oh God, Hardisons gonna kill this guy with the implication that this "strange artist fellow" bought his prize cars and dismantled them for art supplies. ("aquired at a government auction last year) Like i love the powerplay here, tell him I murdered your babies and if you dont stop me, This baby is next. Like this is full on Dubenich invoking Nate's Son levels of emotional manipulation. --- "are we being suspicious enough" You are buying garbagebags, Axes and shovels "dont use that rope, for future reference, you can chew right through it". Well thats ominous foreshadowing --- Oh... The bodyguard thinks Team Leverage are hitmen working for the Mark to kill HER. In her defence i could definitly see him do it, kill his handler, flee the country dig up his missing money abroad. --- "i did not sell out the Marshal Service so you could throw away all of our planning on a car". shit, she's not witness protection, SHE'S MAFFIA? Oh no she isnt maffia, she's just corrupt. (5 MIllion dollars... thats good money) --- Mobster- You called our mutual friend Charlie Corrupt Bitch- You're an idiot! Mob- Then we tracked you down cause you left your GPS tracking on CB!- Ok that one is on me. Honesty! --- So they're not even going to be taking down the maffia? (most episodes, they'd somehow end up pulling those guys down as well) But hey, the Maffia seems to genuinely respect Nate. (in their defence, they've seen the damage these guys do) --- I only knew three of the five. (car would drive him crazy, Access the accounts, Turn on babysitter. Those are the ones he knew. The car friend who got the Maffia involved are obviously the ones he didnt plan on) --- "we matter". Well, this entire episode about the looming threat of retirement ends on a sweet note. But dang if it isnt an ominous plotthread to add to the final season.

This is my non comprehensive and unfinished list of Drift Compatible pairs
Drift compatible
Leverage
Eliot and parker:
They just are, they both love hardison but he’s better at being tech support outside the drift. Plus, they really only trust him to be monitoring them. They both know how to take emotion out of the problem when necessary.
Person of Interest
John and Shaw:
Chaos twins, need I say more? Actually I’m gonna, people were a bit afraid trying to find a pairing for them because of their pasts (epecially john and Cara who were a brutal team that wrecked John when Cara died) and were afraid they might make things worse for each other, but they actually leveled each other out to a shocking degree because the machine (a doctor in this case) saw what most people don’t, that they deeply care about justice, they’re compassionate, and have a strong sense of right and wrong-it’s just that for them the end justifies the means to a degree others might not feel.
Doctor Who
Ten and Donna:
I think Donna could also be compatible with nine, and it takes her a minute with ten, but they do get there, they make each other better.
Stormlight Archive
Kal and Moash former:
ok this one is odd because I think they were pushed to pilot together and it worked for a bit, especially whenever kaladin’s mental health is declining, but they stopped him piloting because of that and when he got better he couldn’t drift with Moash anymore. Moash found someone who’s destructive like him and Kaladin ended up with Syl. Shallan and him are oddly compatible but there was a bit too much tension with Adolin and Kaladin could tell she was hiding something, which after Moash freaked him out.
Adolin and Maya
Adolin used to drift with Dalinar but Dalinar retired and he stayed a loner until Maya, he was compatible with Renarin but Renarin was too sick to actually pilot. Maya is so quiet people didn’t think it would work but Adolin is used to Renarin and isn’t as much of a dumb jock as people think. People don’t understand that Dalinar and Adolin worked well because they fight the same AND they’re both very smart.
Stranger things
Steve and Robin:
Robin didn’t trust him at first but their first drift test percentage was so shockingly high that afterword they spent like days together getting to know each other. Most likely people in the base to be throwing potential partners at each other
Psych
Shawn and Gus:
https://www.tumblr.com/hmslusitania/745431572726038528/shawn-and-gus-are-drift-compatible-but-under-no
Owl House
Amity and Hunter:
I think this one would take some work, but say they got paired together in their overachiever/my worth is tied to performance phase. They would fall out of synch for a bit, but would come back together later courtesy of Luz (who I don’t think is great at the drift -following the rabbit is an issue- but can spot good pairings/pilots a mile away, and helps people get to where they need to be mentally) (side note, I could see her as an adult actually being great at temporary pairings, once she’s self assured enough that’s she’s stable in herself she can adjust to be what a person needs for emergency situations)
Star Wars
Anakin and Obi-wan (pre darkside):
I don’t think I need to justify this one, but Obi-wan suffers extremely when the bond is broken in drift
Han and Chewbacca:
Similar to the Shawn/gus scenario on the surface, but they will actually refrain from major property damage (probably)
Jyn and Cassian:
This one also is a growing to be compatible situation, but they fit better than they expected, he thought she was too selfish, she thought he wouldn’t trust her or compromise, turns out they work wonderfully together
Baze and Chirrut:
It took them a few years but they’re like the most stable and dependable pairing, despite Chirruts tendency to charge towards danger
I’m definitely right about all of these but I will accept additions!

I just really like thinking about Eliot and food as a way of showing love.
Nate’s hungover and exhausted and he hadn’t paid attention to why Eliot stuck around for a while last night after it was clear to the others that Nate would be continuing the night alone, but it makes sense now when he shuffles into the kitchen to find slow-cooked oatmeal in the crockpot, blueberries and banana and honey and almonds on the side, and a note that reads Client meeting moved to 11. Eat all of this in Eliot’s hard scrawl.
*
Sophie idly says, ‘I think I might try going vegan,’ and don’t think she doesn’t see them all roll their eyes. And all right, it wouldn’t be the first time she proposed a lifestyle change only to later decide it isn’t for her, and she knows they’re all thinking of the time she persuaded them to do 6AM yoga and then didn’t turn up, as if that’s the point—she learned something about herself, namely that she’s absolutely not a morning person. But soon the kitchen’s stocked with plant milks and pulses and every vegetable imaginable and Sophie does not go vegan but Eliot’s chickpea and tofu hash remains one of her very favourite meals.
*
Hardison’s not totally surprised to see that the recent search history on the laptop he leaves around for the team’s casual use includes How to set up a kosher kitchen and Best Jewish recipe books and Gelatin-free gummy frogs. He’s only offhandedly mentioned his desire to learn more about his Jewish heritage, and gently reminds Eliot of that when he next sees him. Y’know, not that he doesn’t appreciate the thought, but Eliot doesn’t have to be changing the whole kitchen on Hardison’s account. Not yet, anyway.
Eliot looks a little flustered. ‘Listen, I—I wasn’t tryna pressure you, or anything.’
‘I didn’t think you were,’ Hardison says, ‘but I think I’m gonna take this kinda slow, you know?’
‘Yeah,’ Eliot says. ‘Yeah, of course. Just. If you do decide to make any changes. Didn’t want you to have to wait.’
*
Eliot looks so giddy—or as close to giddy as he gets—when he tells Parker he has to show her something that she automatically turns to head upstairs to the roof.
‘Are we not jumping off the building?’ she asks, when he catches her wrist, both of them equally confused.
But it’s a baking thing, which she’ll admit makes more sense for Eliot, and she lets him drag her to the kitchen where he presents her with a frosted layer cake and a fork. And she loves cake, but Eliot bakes cake all the time, and she’s not sure why he’s so excited about this one, and about sharing it with her specifically, until she tastes it.
‘Is that—’ she starts, trying to place the flavour, and he nods, delighted.
‘Cereal milk, yeah. You like it?’
And Parker likes it so much she gives him a very rare hug and decides to not take revenge if she finds he used her cereal to make it. (He didn’t.)
*
And over time they all learn how to speak Eliot’s love language back to him. Not by cooking, that’d be a disaster, but Eliot finds the staples he needs at Nate’s place in Boston never run low even though he’s pretty sure what Nate counts as staples are salt and maybe pepper at a push. Sophie presents him with a rare first edition of Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management with a wry smile and a ‘Don’t ask.’ Every base Hardison sets up has a state-of-the-art kitchen, and there’s always a place to buy organic, local produce a stone’s throw from their front door. And on a job in New York, Parker takes him on a detour to an East Village bakery so they can try some original cereal milk confections, and loudly proclaims them not as good as Eliot’s while he hisses at her to keep her voice down and tries and fails not to smile.

Leverage OT3 headcanons
@girl-next-door-writes
Eliot is the best classical dancer of the three.
Hardison isn’t bad, per-se, but he can’t quite get his feet under him during more complicated waltzes and tangos.
Parker is technically astounding- having an expert level of control over every inch of her body certainly helps, but she’s stiff- too technical- she doesn't feel the music.
Parker and Hardison both steal Eliot’s bandanas. He pretends to be grumpy but doesn’t mind.
Eliot and Parker both steal sweaters from Hardison. He only complains when he says Eliot's big muscle stretch it out (but really he will sacrifice any day to see Eliot in his clothes)
Hardison buys most of their clothes because Eliot really doesn’t care and Parker has better things to do than clothes shopping most of the time.
On that note, every single item he buys for them is perfectly tailored. From funny t-shirts to formal wear, every item goes through the best tailor on the west coast.
Eliot buys 90% of their food, on the other hand.
It makes it easier to limit the amount of orange soda and chocolate his partners consume.
Parker…. Parker doesn't really have a theme in what she buys. One day it might be ten boxes of cereal, the next a diamond necklace she might’ve stolen for fun.
Parker is really, really good at giving gifts.
Eliot and Hardison have never once guessed what she got them for Christmas. Never. It drives Hardison insane.
They rarely sleep three in a bed.
Could they? For sure. Hardison has a California king with plenty of room for all three of them to sleep comfortably.
But, none of them have normal sleep schedules, which makes it hard to coordinate sleep times.
Also, Eliot or Parker need space sometimes, which is why there are two guest rooms with full-sized beds.
They usually sleep in the same bed about twice a week, though it can be more or less just depending on what happens.
When they all sleep together Hardison sleeps in the middle,on his stomach.  Eliot lays flat on his back, on the side nearest the door. He does usually lay up against Hardison. Parker usually sleeps curled up on her side facing the window with her back pressed against Hardison’s side.
Eliot has a favorite cooking knife that No One touches.
Eliot’s love language is acts of service.
Parker likes the idea of cooking. She usually gets bored with it halfway through, if she tries it alone, but likes to help Eliot in the kitchen.
They don’t usually wear rings because those can get caught on things too easily, which is particularly dangerous for Eliot and Parker.
They are also very easy to lose.
Instead, they each have a small tattoo on their hip. They took a recording of each of them saying I love you and tattooed the soundwave on their hip. It’s small enough to cover easily if a con calls for it.
Sophie did not realize they were //together// until she saw the tattoo on Parker and asked what it meant.
They all assumed she knew, including Nate.
Amy is in charge of telling Hardison all the rumors the new Brewpub staff members come up with about their relationship and about what they do.
The current theory is that Hardison and Parker, a couple, are in witness protection and Eliot is their Marshall. They also think that Parker is cheating on Hardison with Eliot.
Amy and the two other long time staffers just keep quiet.
First, because they think it’s hilarious (Hardison does too), and second, because Eliot and Hardison are the best bosses they’ve ever had and they don’t want them to get in trouble. Amy is also in charge of making sure that the rumors don’t go too far.
Amy deserves a raise.
Hardison also likes to dispel the relationship rumors by giving Eliot a quick kiss in front of the staff.
Eliot thinks it’s silly but doesn't really mind. He can humor his partner.
Parker just doesn't care. If any of the staff were brave enough to ask her she would tell them the truth.
However, no one will ask her because while she is very friendly, if a little strange, they have all seen her drop out of the rafters randomly. Also, the story of her thwarting a kidnapping still runs rampant and Amy refuses to confirm or deny them.

We Provide Leverage for the such great heists ask meme, natch 😂
Thank you for choosing from the DVD extras menu of Such Great Heists! This was an incredibly popular one - @auntieclimactic, @sabra-n, @your-poetic-cousin-clover and some anons asked for it too. So of course it was also the one I took the longest to write. A note on timelines: I still have not seen Leverage: Redemption (no spoilers!) and so am using OG Leverage here - I know the timelines don't match up, but look, it's an ask game.
We Provide Leverage
“I can’t believe it,” squeals Keeley. “Sophie fucking Devereaux, in the house! I feel like I’m hosting the Queen.”
Sophie laughs, melodious. “Aren’t you the sweetest.”
“I know I sound like an absolute fangirl and it’s the most embarrassing,” Keeley goes on, “but you are way more fit than in pictures, how is that even possible?”
“I could say the same for you.” Sophie turns to Rebecca. “And you! I’m such a fan. A year on from sticking your rotten ex in jail, and you’re already the best fence this side of the pond?”
“Oh, don’t be ridiculous,” says Rebecca. “Next to you I’m barely a child learning to walk.”
“Well, we could stand around flattering each other all day,” Sophie goes on, “and I for one would adore it, but you’ll be wanting to see the goods.” She takes a Tupperware container out of her purse and hands it to Rebecca, who cracks it open.
“Holy shit,” says Keeley. “I think I just put my eye out, it’s that shiny.”
“Between us girls, I’d have kept it for my own collection,” confides Sophie, “but Nate says I’ll never have the chance to wear it out and I’ve got to learn to let things go.”
Rebecca closes the box wistfully. “Consider it taken care of.”
“So, have you got any other plans for while you’re in town?” Keeley wants to know. “Sightseeing, or any of that?”
“Oh, free and easy. Might do a bit of shopping, you know. Pick up some stuff.”
“Well - ” Keeley slides a glance at Rebecca, who shrugs. “Fancy a girls’ night out?”
“Ooh,” says Sophie. “Why the hell not?”
~
“I’m serious,” says Roy. “You have got to try yoga.”
Eliot squints at him. “It’s kinda hippy-dippy, if you know what I mean.”
“Yeah, I know, but it’s really good for your core. Tell you what, if you’re still in town on Thursday, you should come for my class. They do a free trial.”
“Who’s at the class?”
“It’s just me and a bunch of middle-aged women. They’ll love you. If you come on Thursday, we’re going to go out afterwards, find this bloke that entrapped Janice in a phishing scam and beat him up. Then we’re getting two-for-one cocktails in Soho.”
“Yeah, I don’t know Janice,” says Eliot, “but if she’s okay with me crashing her revenge party, then I guess I can check yoga out.”
“How come Eliot gets to go to yoga?” demands Jamie. “You never invite anyone to yoga.”
“Eliot gets it,” says Roy. “You don’t. Now fuck off.”
“You’re both miserable old twats,” Jamie shoots back, “and I hope Keeley shags Sophie Devereaux behind your back.”
“If she really must,” says Roy, “she ought to do it Thursday.”
~
“I can’t believe you stole Nyan Cat,” says Sam.
“Swear to God, it was a lot easier than I thought,” says Hardison. “In fact it was too easy. I don’t think I got much of a kick out of it, if I’m gonna be real with you. You’d think guys like us would be all over the Metaverse, but bro, I’m not feeling it.”
“I cannot support NFT transactions,” says Sam. “It uses up energy on the scale of a small country.”
“I hear you,” says Hardison thoughtfully. “I don’t really know what to do with it now, to be honest. What would you do with an NFT, if you had one?”
Sam considers. “I would destroy it.”
“Whoa. Pretty extreme.”
“I could not live with owning it, nor could I sell it without causing further harm. I would burn it to make a point.”
“Feels weird though, destroying Nyan Cat.”
“It is, of course, your art,” says Sam. “But Nyan Cat should not be owned by one person. By burning Nyan Cat, you will set it free.”
“I’ll think about it,” says Hardison.
~
“Hey,” says Beard.
Parker looks over at him. She’s sitting in the middle of one of the great crossbeams that span the warehouse, swinging her legs ten metres above where the rest of the party is gathered. “Hey yourself.”
Beard leans on the railing. “Dani get too much?”
Parker makes a face.
“Yeah, he’s like that. He’s just excited that there’s two of you.”
“I don’t want there to be two of me,” says Parker. “I want to be the only one.”
Beard shrugs. “Fair.” He tosses a packet over to Parker, who snatches it out of the air and peers at it suspiciously. “Brought you that.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s called a jaffa cake. You’ll like it.”
Parker peels open a corner and sniffs at the contents. Then she stuffs an entire jaffa cake into her mouth and makes a noise of surprise and delight.
“Thought as much,” says Beard. “You gonna be up here a while?”
“Yeah,” says Parker around a mouthful of chocolate and orange. “Don’t feel like going down just yet. Your lot’s noisy.”
“That they are.” Beard sits down with his back to the railing. He pulls out a copy of Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations.
After a while, Parker tosses a jaffa cake in his direction. Beard snatches it out of the air. He eats it carefully, starting at the edges and moving inwards.
~
“Trent Crimm, Interpol,” says Nathan Ford. “You know, you were the last guy I ever expected to see on this side.”
Trent smiles at him crookedly. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“No, don’t tell me. Sterling.”
“He would not stop talking about you. We used to run a book at the office Christmas party, how many times he’d bring you up. I won once. It was thirteen.”
“I should probably let him know I’m in town,” says Ford thoughtfully. “Go museum hopping, pretend to steal some Dutch masters, for old times’ sake. Ah, Ted, there you are.”
Ted has come over, following a heated argument with Eliot about biscuit ingredients. “If it ain’t Nathan Ford, the black king himself.”
“Still white knighting, I see. How’s that working out for you?”
“Just fine, Calvin Klein.”
“Is that so.” Ford narrows his eyes. “A little bird tells me you had a problem with your forger.”
Ted’s smile tightens. “Yeah, I suppose you could say that.”
“I could put a word in for you, if you like,” Ford goes on. “From one Nate to another.”
“I sure do appreciate you offering,” says Ted pleasantly, “but I’ll handle my own folks.”
“Oh, leave off Ted, you old buzzard.” Sophie has appeared at Ford’s elbow, which she pats fondly. “He’s the worst at retirement, honest - just goes about putting his oar in everywhere. I’m at my wit’s end trying to keep him entertained. It’s why we have to travel so much.”
“Which reminds me.” Ford reaches into his jacket pocket and removes what appears to be a document packet. “We were passing through Kansas, and we stopped in to check on Michelle.”
Ted’s expression fractures minutely. “How are they?”
“Michelle’s splendid. Sends her regards.”
Ted opens the packet. Visible inside it are a stack of drawings done in crayon.
“He’s turning out quite the artist, young Henry,” Ford says quietly. “Great kid.”
Ted closes the packet and tucks it away. “Thanks, Nate. You didn’t have to.”
“I know.” Ford puts his hands in his pockets and looks away at an angle that means only Sophie will be able to see his expression. “But, well, you know.”
“So!” Ted is all smiles again. “We oughta paint the town while you’re in it, don’t you think? What do y’all say?”
“Sounds great,” says Parker. She has rappelled down, seemingly from the ceiling, and now unclips herself and strides off briskly. “I want to go out.”
Ted rubs his hands. “Welcome to Richmond.”

LEVERAGE REDEMPTION 1x15 THE MUDDY WATERS JOB
- i can't believe this is the first part of the finale already. @cminerva and i have been speculating about the finale since the episode titles + descriptions were released. well, since before that, really, but the titles and descriptions gave us so much fodder, oh god. my prediction was that they'd do another first/second david job that would wreck us completely. so. you know.
- i watched all eight eps in a row, the night they were released, but @cminerva only got to watch the first two, so i had be very vague and spoiler-free in the texts i sent her when all i wanted to do was YELL, but once i got to the finale, i couldn't possibly be vague anymore, so i stated typing up my reactions in a notes file. that's gonna be super useful for this post now.
- ok let's do this! harry's daughter sneaking out, interesting start. harry's ex is beautiful. but jesus she REALLY traded down.
- harry delivering their mail. :') and eliot fixing the place up. EVERYONE IS SO AT HOME AT THE BASE. 😍 omg sophie's wearing a shirt that could definitely belong to harry.
- uhhhh wasn't tom baker nate's alias? side-eyeing the writers tbh. miss river song—hardison c'mon. LMAO TEDDY BEAR. harry and soph are so delighted, i love it. fjsjfhskdjfjjdjdjd "MISS SOPHIE DEVEREAUX, FROM ALL THE WAY FROM ACROSS THE POND!" harry your accent is ATROCIOUS. but THEY'RE FLIRTING!!! "stop it!" fjakfbskfjksfj HELP ME I AM DYING HERE. (now we've had him saying her name while she's actually in the room, but in a horrible accent, so like. all i want is one soft "sophie" right to her face. bonus points if they're naked.)
- "i need to give you some dialect lessons." - "i'll take 'em." i'm sure you will, harry. 😏 the only time i was ever this eager to learn things from someone was when i was head over heels in love with them, so. just saying.
- nooooooooo. sophie can't leave. SHE CANNOT. ugh parker's reaction is everything. she loves sophie so much and has been fighting to keep her with them since 1x01. and i don't think sophie has realised how much it really means to parker to have her there.
- i also live for harry's reaction. he's so crushed because he thought they had something. not the something he wants, but a friendship, at least. and she just talks so casually about leaving them all behind it crushes him. you can actually SEE his heart breaking.
- and then later he sends parker off with eliot and specifically assigns sophie and himself to a task, TOGETHER. i'm guessing he either hopes he can change her mind or, failing that, he wants to spend what little time they have with her before she goes.
- but first, harry's daughter shows up. lmao because she used the tracking app harry tried to sneak onto her phone to track HIM. :') i like breanna's nerd girlfriend, but if they'd made becky a few years older, breanna would currently be falling all over herself trying to impress HER instead. (yes, this was originally on my wishlist for s2. also yes, i am okay with not getting it.)
- "he never did business with really bad people like—" - "...like i did?" CALLED IT. @cminerva and i figured the strain in their relationship would have been harry's work, and not just the many hours of it, but more that he defended so many evil people. "i get it." oh maaaan it KILLS him to know his daughter thinks so badly of him. because he IS a good man, at his core.
- "what, was the monopoly man busy?" gjajfjskfjekd PARKER!!!
- lmao harry defends ethan so eagerly, sophie's little smirk makes me think SHE thinks harry and ethan might have been an item. before he drops the bombshell of ethan being married to harry's ex, that is.
- breanna going on strike is... idk, i'm torn. it's obviously mostly played for laughs, giving harry and sophie the task of hacking (😂), but also, the last time they weren't sure what to do, they voted, and the majority won. there was never any talk of strikes? it feels kind of weird and ooc to me that breanna just says no and basically abandons them, especially after harry's asked for help. and her attitude about the whole thing... not helping.
- but lmao harry planning to learn hacking from the binders. what a NERD. a clueless, naïve nerd, but a nerd nonetheless.
- "how hard can it be, hacking?" oh sophie, sweetie.
- lmfao "stupid little lawyer man." - "breanna!" - "i did something wrong..." you think, harry? 😂
- omg when eliot and parker come back to the base and ask what happened, sophie says "we (!) tried our hand at hacking", but harry points to himself while she says it. this is one of the many, many reasons why i love this character: he's so absolutely willing to own up to his mistakes—not just the big, obvious ones they're all trying to redeem him from, but just the small ones, too, and i think that's mostly noah's acting choices, i doubt any of that is scripted. it's making me very emotional because it's obvious noah loves this character, too. and the WAY he takes the blame for the things he did wrong just reinforces my headcanon of anxiety disorder harry who has had therapy.
- you REALLY left harry for this dude, grace? really? i mean i know looks don't mean anything in the long run, but jeeeeesus. this dude doesn't even come across as a good guy.
- lmfao parker carding harry i cannot. "oh look, he's human." i love her.
- that red top on sophie looks amazing. my wishlist for s2 had her in another red dress, but i'll take this, too. red on sophie is just... [chef's kiss]
- OUCH. that ethan guy is a piece of work. "i believe in being civil." okay two things. a) i like that harry doesn't, idk, hate his ex and that he didn't make it hard for her to leave and find someone else, someone even he considered "better", cause even back then, he KNEW what he was doing was wrong. b) but also, this "being civil" thing i think might just have been another symptom of his attitude of "never picking a side". it's a really easy way to make sure nothing ever touches you, that no one can ever blame you. if he HAD fought for his ex and made it hard for her to leave him, she could have thrown that back in his face. by staying "neutral" (or as he calls it "civil", cause lbr, there is no true "neutral" in a breakup like that), he made sure none of the immediate blame could fall on him. SHE left him. SHE asked for a divorce. stuff like that. but he knows now that it was precisely that, his INaction, that put the final nail in the coffin of his marriage. which ties in very nicely with what he says to sophie in that one scene in jackal job.
- "probably doesn't hurt that because of me, you don't have to pay alimony or child support." YOU LITTLE TWAT. harry has made a LOT of mistakes in his life, but i don't believe for a second that he would've minded paying alimony, let alone child support. i mean, he's a lawyer, for god's sake. if he'd wanted a pre-nup that would've kept him from paying alimony, he probably could've had one. and we KNOW he's loaded. and especially now, he no longer cares about the money. i mean, he's been living in a room in a slightly run-down old theatre with four housemates, basically, instead of staying at his presumably huge and fancy own apartment or house.
- another "sophie". i want harry to say her name all the time thanks. 😭
- EVERYONE EATING TOGETHER AGAIN! lol i can no longer watch these guys (or any other fictional characters) eat chinese food without thinking about the audio commentary for the original show. 😍
- oooh good plan, parker. you go to the platform and take eliot and breanna with you. it'll give harry and sophie some time alone. 😏
- "the security of my family" u g h harry listen. your daughter is your family, OBVIOUSLY. but your ex is not. if anything, this TEAM is your family now. this is what @cminerva i were afraid of, that by making harry's ex's husband a bad guy / mark, the writers would open the door for harry to go back to his ex. and i'm 100% against that, and not only because i ship h/s. that's not even my main reason, actually, though i will admit it plays a big role. no, the main reason is that harry is a different person now. and going back to his ex would throw him back into a life that he once had but left, even just by NOT acting when she left him. and if he's back in that situation again, well. it's very easy to fall back into old patterns once you're back in a familiar environment, isn't it? i'm not saying his ex would drive him to doing bad things, or that she did that when he first went crooked. no, that was HIS choice. but thanks to harry and now ethan, she's always had a certain standard of living that she no doubt wants to keep, and harry would fall over backwards trying to make that happen, and lbr, these guys don't exactly make money from conning bad guys. as far as we know, the original team still lives off their one big score from nigerian job, personally. hardison probably makes sure leverage international has some income for bases and clothes and props and whatnot, but personally, i doubt these guys would take so much as a penny from a mark if that penny could instead go towards helping people. so harry has not had any official income since the beginning of the season. he probably has assets that generate income for him, but the money he got from being a lawyer was probably his main source. and he'd want to make his ex happy, so he'd probably slip back into doing bad things, and i DO NOT WANT THAT FOR HIM. my little baby thief who's been working so, so hard on his redemption.
- SOPHIE WITH A PONYTAIL. i was so looking forward to this and it's just as hot as i expected. what is even hotter than i expected is that PINSTRIPE VEST SHE'S WEARING.
- "why would you be covered in oil?" ghskfhsifhkehfkejf 😂 it only just occurred to me that these bits are 4th wall breaks, in a way. i just hadn't realised because they're DONE SO WELL. (i ususally hate 4th wall breaks.)
- "oil happens." gjskfbksfnksbfjefbjdnfjeke I CANNOT.
- lol i have absolutely no notes about this upcoming h/s scene from the first time i watched the ep, so i'm guessing i was too overwhelmed.
- "i thought i might find you here." SHE LOOKS SO GOOD. and she knows where his ex lives, which i assume is where they used to live together.
- "when i lost grace, i reconciled myself to the fact that i lost her to a better man. a decent man. maybe i didn't deserve her." OUCH. and exactly what i suspected. there's no way that this wonderful, wonderful man doesn't have anxiety over all the bad things he's done.
- "is that it? have you been seeking redemption for grace and becky?" GOT IT IN ONE, SOPH.
- "if you can't use the law as a guideline to show you what's morally right and wrong, then what do you have?" a) leverage asking the TOUGHEST questions since 2008. b) he's not wrong. c) i don't think i can imagine HOW hard it must be for him, this whole redemption process. i mean, he knows he did the wrong things. but how does he know that? because it FELT wrong. and because he saw other people's pain. and then because the crew has been telling him. but the law, the thing he's spent his entire life on, tells him the exact opposite. so all this time, all these months now that he's been with the leverage team, there has always been a part of him that has told him what he's doing NOW is wrong. because it's against the law. and i think a part of him is always going to be struggling with that if he stays with the team.
- "mr. wilson, i think you need to recalibrate your entire thinking about morality. life isn't always as clear-cut as we'd like. life's complicated." THIS IS IT. THIS IS THE DEFINING QUOTE. OF THIS ENTIRE SHOW.
- "how did you recalibrate your thinking about morality?" - "well. there is honour amongst thieves. i started there." i am SOBBING. i know this episode and this entire season really is about harry, but my GOD. sophie has grown SO much, since nigerian job obviously but also since the end of leverage 1.0 and even since the beginning of 2.0—so, so much. talking about harry and his arc comes to me fairly easily, but talking about sophie is just. hard. she means so much to me. i might come back to this in another post. i do want to talk more about her arc in this entire season.
- on a more shallow note, JEEEEESUS gina is gorgeous. and idk if that was a coincidence or ~filming magic, but it's overcast in this scene EXCEPT for the moment when sophie says "there's honour amongst thieves". it's not a lot, but you can tell that the sun comes peeking out for that one second and hits her face and she just GLOWS. JFC.
- also i know it probably doesn't mean anything, but when sophie leaves, the way harry turns and looks back at what i assume is his old house (i.e. his ex and his old life), then turns back to sophie and looks at her and then walks after her DOES THINGS TO ME. it could be such a beautiful metaphor for the way he's being torn in half.
- awwwwman, the kids talking about sophie leaving. "she's gotta find out who she is." !!!!!! I JUST!!!!! i think i've got something about this in my "yell at @cminerva" notes for the next ep, so i'll just. stop for now. but i have all the feelings anyone has ever had about this.
- nooooo i think harry just got all dressed up to meet his ex. GDI WRITERS WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
- yeaaaah they've just tanked the ot3. i am UPSET. "i've always admired you and hardison's relationship." AS IF YOU'RE NOT PART OF THAT RELATIONSHIP YOU DUMMY.
- "i think the reason hardison and i work so well is because he's the first person who saw me. i mean, he really knew me." is such a sweet thing to say, parker.
- awwww but. that was an eliot+parker scene that would be SUPER cute family vibes if it weren't for that bitter anti-ot3 aftertaste...
- LMFAO SOPHIE IS HAVING ELIOT'S BABY 😂 i know at least one (1) person who will appreciate this tidbit. i love how sophie just like, goes with the "sweetheart". you can almost SEE her thought process. "ah, eliot's not alone. guess i'm having his baby!" and lmfao breanna "baby?" dhakhfksbdjejd
- harry doing actual lawyering in court? HOT AF. i don't have a secret thing for lawyers or the law, but watching someone—anyone—be super competent is always crazy attractive. (yes, this show makes me sweat a lot.)
- lmfao "how did you meet the missus? was it romantic?" what this episode DESPERATELY needs here is a flashback to the first time eliot saw sophie, playing lady macbeth in chicago back in nigerian job, and a shot of his horrified face.
- ugh harry don't run after grace. if this were any other show, or fanfic, grace would now ask harry about that gorgeous woman in the red dress. "oh grow up, harry. what did you think was going to happen? i was going to leave him and come running back to you?" wow maybe it was harry who deserved better all along. yes, it was naïve and frankly wrong of him to assume or even hope for this. but it was a GENUINE hope, a genuine wish, and i can't blame him for that. if he really HAS been trying to find redemption so his ex would come back to him (which i don't think he has—maybe that was part of it for him, but he's been wanting to be better for himself, too, and above all, for his daughter), it's going to be even harder going forward, knowing that outcome he hoped for isn't going to happen.
- "where's harry? all his stuff is gone, he cleaned out his room." oh shit they're doing it THEY'RE REALLY GOING THERE THIS IS FIRST DAVID ALL OVER AGAIN, ONLY IN REVERSE. oh jesus christ i did not expect this.
- PARKER+SOPHIE CUDDLE I CAN'T. 😭 I LOVE THESE PEOPLE SO MUCH. "you always knew that this was gonna be my last tour. i'm just not the same person i used to be. i need to go and figure out who the person is that i'm going to be." I AM A WRECK THANKS.
- and so is eliot ugh. these people threw him a baby shower like, YESTERDAY. leverage redemption really not pulling ANY punches, are they?
- oh fuck. OH FUCK. "well, let's just say that i've decided to recalibrate my entire way of thinking about morality." OH FUUUCK.

Parker: "Teach me to like stuff."
.
Okay, so. I have some thoughts about The French Connection Job's Parker+Eliot subplot. And I think I wanna approach it separately, scene by scene from each of their perspectives, because we have a couple different things going on here. It's still a little more of a Parker meta than an Eliot meta, but I have enough to talk about on both sides, and they're connected enough not to be in separate metas, that I am going to do it this way.
Also going to put this under a cut because it gets long.
Parker
This whole subplot comes on the heels of the last episode, in which there was a lot of banter throughout about Hardison and Parker's dates, and him wanting to branch out into other things than just bungee jumping or whatever. We have seen hints of this throughout S5 so far, even though we're only a few episodes in at this point. They went on a world tour that was pretty much just jumping off of stuff, Hardison said something about them figuring things out. We saw a cute domestic scene of the aftermath of them watching a movie together, except Parker 'fell asleep again' and missed most of it, and Hardison eventually went off to work on his laptop. Parker tried to comfort him last episode about dust mites and ended up freaking him out instead. She talked about how she liked fire and Hardison complained she was missing the point of his offer for a candlelit picnic. They did end on a very romantic note with her still making the effort to make it happen but getting rained out, and him recognizing her effort and listening to him, and projecting the stars around the dark room then having the picnic inside. They are clearly very happy together and both making the effort to meet in the middle, but there are still some disconnects. Which makes sense this early on anyway, but it's not out of place for Parker to start getting worried about her limited interests here given the context of them contrasting Hardison's more widespread interests.
Starting right off the bat - there's a picture limit so I can't show these early moments, but throughout the first part of the episode we see Parker looking visibly upset/pensive. Hardison notices and asks her what's wrong, but is immediately distracted by his package arriving, and then the team gets into the briefing and he doesn't get to talk to her again. (Sidenote that this is pretty OOC for Hardison, and I have to assume he would at the very least come back to her later, but they were clearly trying to get Parker talking with someone else this episode and apparently couldn't come up with a better way to do it. His writing outside of the kitchen stuff was kinda off this whole episode anyway, what with the whole tip thing.) She was about to open up to him, however, which is important. There's also a scene shortly afterwards where she confides in Nate, again after he notices her being upset and asks what's bothering her. She claims everyone but her has 'a thing', and names a few of them. He asks her what she thinks when she sees Michelangelo's David, and when her answer is an immediate assessment of how it's guarded and what she'd have to do to steal it, he kind of hesitates and then goes right back to running the con. He basically gives up on helping her with this once it becomes clear that a quick sentence or two isn't gonna cut it.
So after those brief, unhelpful conversations, that's when she makes a move. She was responding to others before, but this time she comes up to Eliot, clearly nervous. And she asks him to help her feel something.
(I find it very interesting that she doesn't ask Sophie. Sophie is the person who she would usually go to for something like this, after all. But, aside from this being an Eliot-centric episode and just like them sidelining Hardison's possible assistance earlier the writers want Parker to talk with Eliot not Sophie, I think there are maybe a couple reasons why she might go to him here. First, just distance. Eliot is right downstairs, meanwhile at the moment Sophie is however far across town at her theater. Certainly not saying she wouldn't go to Sophie eventually, but maybe that's why not first. Second, she and Eliot have an understanding, one that's been explicitly acknowledged since the start of S4. They are similar in a way entirely unlike the rest of the crew. So while Sophie may understand emotions best, Eliot is the one most likely to know what Parker is talking about when she says she just isn't feeling anything. Which by the way I'm gonna get more into later on. Thirdly they're in love but that's not actually relevant here since all of the team love one another.)
Eliot
On Eliot's side, she approaches him when he's busy in the kitchen. This whole job is stirring up a lot of old feelings in him right from the start. Toby was someone who 'kept him from falling all the way down', and Eliot is deeply concerned for him. At the same time, the way they are running this con is allowing Eliot to take on the role of teacher. Even though his students aren't anything like the eager students Toby has just had taken away from him, Eliot wants so badly to take advantage of this opportunity to teach them - maybe even all the more because they're resistant. He's being given a very rare opportunity to indulge his belief that food is life and to share it on a larger scale. To use the knife to create, not just destroy. Leverage often walks a line between doing both (taking down the bad guys and helping people) but Eliot doesn't often just straight up get to just do the 'creating' part. (I mean, he loves the destruction too, he genuinely loves beating people up and taking down bad guys, but this is a rarer pleasure.) So he's pretty preoccupied with that at first, and initially dismisses Parker just like the other two guys did.
But when she just looks quietly disappointed at his response, he goes still and watches her. We cut away from them here so we don't see his actual response, but it's immediately clear that he's realizing this is actually something deeply important to Parker, and well worth his time.
On to the next part of this scene below.
.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Eliot sets a dish down in front of Parker]
Parker: "...It's just food."
Eliot: "It's not just food! Alright, some people could look at it and just see food, but not me. I see art. When I'm in the kitchen I'm, I'm creating something outta nothing, you know what I mean? And sometimes I crush it, sometimes it's crap, but either way - it makes me feel something."
Parker: "Feel what?"
Eliot: "Just... feel."
Parker: [murmuring] "Feel... okay." [looks down at the food and hesitates]
Eliot: "You know, I didn't feel anything for a long time. Then Toby taught me how to cook, and after he did, I started to feel stuff again. That's why I share it through my food - this is my art. This is my art, Parker." [Parker nods, looking worried] "It's like lettin' a stranger in your head, just for a second. And you allow them to feel what you're feeling." [pause] "Look again." [he pushes the plate a little closer to her. Parker takes a deep breath and slowly sets her elbows down on the counter as she stares down at the plate. Eliot watches her closely.]
Parker
At this point I want to talk a little about what Parker means when she says "feel something" and talks about "having a thing." Because we've seen her have interests outside of straightforward thievery before. Sure, most of her hobbies revolves around stealing - casing local banks for fun, for example. But she clearly has a deep love for Christmas and for chocolate. So why doesn't she count those kinds of things as 'feeling something'?
I think it comes down to what Eliot's talking about here. It's a sense of art. Not even necessarily making it yourself, although that certainly applies. Parker likes sweet things like chocolate and donuts, but although she really really likes them they don't make her feel any truly deep emotion. It's more tactile than anything else, just a pleasant flavor. Her love of Christmas isn't the same either in her eyes because it's not uniquely hers. It's something she loves to celebrate but she can't do so all year round, and plenty of other people like Christmas too. This one comes a lot closer, because it definitely seems to be tied up more in community and family for her than something like enjoying chocolate and piñatas, but it still doesn't belong to her in the same way that cooking does to Eliot or theater does to Sophie. And while theoretically her love of base jumping and so on could maybe count, it is still so tied up in her thieving that it doesn't feel separate. She's really good at drawing but only thinks of it as a useful skill, not a creative outlet - this is similar to that.
She has been branching out into a lot of new experiences and emotions lately, and while she's struck out deep into uncharted waters with her relationship with Hardison, once there she's only seeing more and more things that she just... doesn't get. She loves spending time with him, and enjoys what they do together, but she doesn't understand all of those things. Not on a deeper level. She wants to feel that sense of connection to something, wants to feel deeply emotionally moved by something.
And honestly? I think she's way up in her head about it. I'm not trying to dismiss her struggle here at all, but I do think she is stressing herself out about having something uniquely her own. About having a huge interest that speaks so strongly to her personally. And those are amazing to have, but it's really not necessary. She doesn't need a strong secondary passion so much as she needs to let go of trying so hard to force herself into something.
And what's happening in this scene in particular is that Parker is trying so so hard to force herself to feel something. It's evident in her face throughout the whole scene, in her body language. And she is so terrified that it's not going to work that honestly, I'm not surprised at all that it doesn't.
Eliot
On Eliot's side of this scene, he feels like he recognizes where Parker is. This entire job has him remembering how it was to feel nothing. Her phrasing got to him deeply. He wants to reach out and teach her to see something more, just like Toby taught him.
He knew a bit about how to cook before Toby. But it was only seeing Toby's passion that struck something in him, that awoke a part of himself he might've never known before. For Eliot specifically, cooking being an art isn't just something he likes. It's something that brings him hope.
Eliot doesn't believe in redemption. But he believes in actions. And what Toby did, by teaching him to cook, was to teach him that his actions can be good. That he can create, not just destroy. That all is not lost - not 'for' him necessarily, so much as 'in' him. There is a deep empty place inside himself that he can enter so so easily. The difficulty is crawling back out again. Cooking was his rope out of there. He still finds it difficult to express his emotions very often, particularly verbally, but when he makes someone a meal he puts a part of himself into it. And yet doing so doesn't take anything from him, it just adds more.
This is all very vague and figurative and may make no sense, but the takeaway I want to have is that Eliot is opening up to Parker on a very deep level here. He feels like he recognizes what she's talking about, and it was a very bad place for him. (Again, I don't think she is quite that badly off at this point in canon, but I digress.) And while making food allows him to feel that he is demonstrating his love for someone, that he is sharing a part of himself with them, he recognizes that she isn't receiving that. What she's getting, is just a plate of food. Tasty food maybe, but nothing more than that. And so Eliot verbalizes everything to her in a way he rarely does.
And then he keeps trying. This scene obviously doesn't end up making her feel something, and we don't get to see the immediate aftermath of that, but we can glean a little about how they feel based on their reactions. And Eliot is deeply determined to help Parker feel something from his food. He insists that she play the food critic; even speaks directly to her and reminds her to consider what they talked about.
.
In the restaurant, we start out with Parker dutifully playing her role but feeling nothing much beyond just the role. Eliot checks in with Parker, she acknowledges that the food is good but doesn't make her feel anything, and he makes improvements based on her feedback. Then something abruptly changes.
Tumblr media
Parker: "I can taste garlic, and mushrooms... and something else that makes me feel different."
Hardison: "Wait, was that for me, cause I-I don't get it."
Parker: "No, it's the food. I get it." [smiles] "I feel something."
+
Parker: "Mmm! These black noodles are amazing!
Eliot: "Parker, it's tagliolini nero con gamberi."
Parker: "Mmm." [eats a huge forkful] "Mmm. Mmmm. These are really good."
Parker
What just happened here? Last we saw from Parker, she'd failed to feel something from the meal Eliot made especially for her in the brewpub, and she was clearly disheartened. She felt it as a failure, very much in the sense of a disappointment. She didn't want to try again, didn't think it would work, and tried to protest when Eliot said she would be the food critic. Even once she got to the restaurant, nothing was happening for her.
The difference wasn't in the flavor of the food. The moment Parker started to feel something was right after she said she felt nothing and Eliot, instead of being disappointed or giving up, took it as a challenge. He changed his recipe, he improved it specifically to better reach out to her. He kept trying.
And yeah, maybe the bone broth helped it taste better. But that wasn't the point, not really. The point is that Parker had gotten herself stuck in a hole, trapped herself in this cycle of not understanding how things make you feel and then believing that she just couldn't. She wanted something of her own and she didn't have it and she didn't immediately get anyone else's thing either, and that was it. She just wasn't capable. She was other. This is an old old fear of Parkers, dating back to Archie or even before. Something in her just isn't capable of being like other people. She wasn't worthy of being in Archie's real family, and she's not able to feel passion for anything outside of stealing. (Setting aside the fact that she loves her team, that all she needed was the right family. That you don't have to be a creator to feel passion, and you don't need to be passionate about any particular thing in order to feel deeply and find beauty in the world.) Parker has empathized deeply with people, has felt so intensely before and is constantly trying to learn more and new ways to be. But because she is noticing her teams' passions now, she has this ideal that she wants to reach, and none of that is good enough for her. She doesn't even know exactly what her ideal involves, but she can't get to it.
But when Eliot doesn't give up, that gets to her. If he views his food as sharing himself with others, Parker finally gets what he's been trying to give all along. It's all about him trying again and again, changing his approach to match her better. That's what she feels, that's what she enjoys.
And once she starts, the floodgates open. She loves the black noodles. She is so happy, she is relieved. There was this huge resistance that she couldn't get past before, but Eliot persisting helped her to break past that and now that she is out of her head about it she can enjoy the food in a way she never has before. Because she feels his love for her in it.
Eliot
Eliot is trying so hard to connect to Parker. It's not really different from what I said in the last Eliot section, and basically the same as what I just said in that Parker section, but I want to emphasize a little more just how much this is about love on his end.
Eliot loves Parker. He loves her, and he wants so much to help her. It doesn't honestly matter that he does this with food, except for the fact that food is what matters so deeply to Eliot himself. He can't reach out to her in the same way through any other medium. And we don't get to see his reaction to Parker's moment of realization. But I think it would be such a deep sense of joy. This is as fulfilling for Eliot as it is for Parker. It's exactly what Eliot has been hoping for this whole episode, to teach someone else to see food in the same way he does. It doesn't matter if it only lasts for a moment or a single meal. That's enough. He has been the support Parker needed through this time of self-doubt. And it is all the more meaningful to him because this isn't just a random student, this is Parker.
He told her he loves her through his food, again and again, and she eventually felt it. She understood. That must mean so much to him.
.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanna end with one more brief note on Parker. Does she get her own "thing" this episode? No. No she does not, and this scene shows us that. Parker is not suddenly interested in food or cooking. The importance of that meal was purely derived from Eliot on the other end of it, focused on her and trying his best to reach out to her.
And I don't think this is something only Eliot could have done for her either, not really. The difference between him and the others this episode is mostly in persistence. However, it's also about her mentality. Hardison has built/done things for Parker before and she felt them just as deeply - but the context was different. She wasn't looking for a sense of beauty or art in the world at large then, and so even though she felt the love in the gift just as much, it didn't make her feel like she could find that kind of emotion in other things. She just wasn't looking for it. Also, it was made easier for Eliot to reach out because there's that connection Parker has with him, that understanding that they are on the same level somehow. She doesn't feel that with Hardison - and she loves him all the more for him being different from her, but he also I think can intimidate her with how good and open he is, with how much he can feel in so many different directions. It's part of why she got so worried about herself not being able to do so this episode.
Like, the team has scolded Nate for not having a life or interests of his own outside the job not too terribly long ago! And Parker has had her own joys before! But she isn't seeing that this episode, too caught up in this fear about not having her own 'thing', not feeling anything that way. So while anyone could have helped her through this, it was easiest for her to let Eliot do so + for him to understand what she needed from him. (Hardison in particular was rudely robbed the opportunity, but they all love and support her and could have reached her. Not to detract from Eliot doing so, but also I don't wanna sound like no other method of reaching out would've worked.)
But as soon as she feels something once with Eliot's help, that relaxes those fears. And then Parker is free to look in other places. She remembers Nate's comment about art, and maybe even tells him what she plans based on him knowing where she is at the end of the episode. And then she goes to visit this statue. In her own way which means breaking in, but without any goal of taking it. She just goes to look at the art. And she feels something again.
Parker doesn't gain some big passion at the end of this episode. She doesn't need to. She never did. She just learns how to let herself relax from that restrictive frame of mind. To simply be in the moment and enjoy things for the sake of what they are. To feel - not really in any way she was incapable of before, but intentionally now. It's a quiet victory, in the end. It doesn't mean she's going to get a new hobby or change her lifestyle at all really. But she's let go of a fear and is now intentionally seeking out new connections with the world beyond her once-limited parameters.

Leverage Writing Prompt #31
Title: Future Tides
Fandom: Leverage
Summary: Nate has been keeping a secret from the team, but an inopportune explosion forces him to reveal it.
This is a prompt fill for @leverage-writing-prompts. I actually submitted this prompt back in July, but only got around to finishing it now.
In honor of the beautiful (and also occasionally creepy) mer-May art I still have circulating on my dash: Parker (or Nate) is secretly a merperson. When a job goes wrong, they’re forced to reveal their secret.
@rinahale did a really fun fill for it already with Mer-Parker.
You can go here to read this on AO3 instead.
Author’s notes: The merrow are Irish merfolk who require a magical cap to move between land and sea.
Bone and Sickle podcast by Al Ridenour did a really great episode on the Kraken (Ep 65: The Kraken & Other Marvels of the Northern Sea). In its earliest renditions, the Kraken was a sea serpent. It was only later that it became associated with first giant octopi, then the giant squid.
*************
Nate knew as soon as the explosion knocked Eliot over the railing of the pier that he only had one option. Eliot was strong swimmer, but not stronger than the turbulent currents under the pier, particularly if he was unconscious. Nate hadn’t been able to tell in the split second it had taken to register him going over.
Even as he was yelling for the rest of the team to get off the burning structure, he was shucking off his shoes and jumping over the railings. He hoped they listened. The rickety structure was going to collapse, with or without another explosion. Getting to Eliot before he got bashed into the pylons was going to be enough of a challenge without having to worry about the rest of the team ending up in the water.
By the time Nate hit the water, his fingernails had hardened into claws, and he used them to tear the rest of his clothes off so he could finish the change. There was something euphoric about settling into his other form. He hadn’t changed since before Sam was born, and it was like finally allowing himself to scratch an itch that had been burning its way through his skin.
There wasn’t time to think about that though. Nate blinked his second eyelid closed, and the murky water sharpened into black and white, the fire above reflecting through the water in bright, washed-out streaks. He had to fight the chaotic currents rushing under the pier to stay still long enough to spot Eliot.
He had already been swept under the pier, probably already been driven into the pylons at least once, and was limp in the water. Nate flicked his tail and pushed into the current, using it to reach Eliot before he could be driven into the pylons again, but he wasn’t able to get them clear of the pier before the next surge. The best he could do was curl around Eliot and turn them so his back hit the pylon instead of Eliot. He was going to be bruised, but it was better than Eliot hitting again.
He pushed hard across the current and surfaced a good four meters from the pier. Eliot started coughing as soon as they broke the surface. The shear relief of it left Nate drifting for a moment, Eliot’s head tipped back against his shoulder and the rip tide pulling them out. There was blood fanning across Eliot’s face from a cut at his temple, and he wasn’t quite conscious, but he was breathing, and for now, that was enough.
Nate cut across the rip to escape it, then brought them into shore, doing his best to keep Eliot’s head above water, although there was no doubt he had breathed in more water by the time they reached the shore.
Changing back was not as easy or simple as the change to had been, but Nate had known it wouldn’t be, known he couldn’t deny his body something it had been craving for so long, then expect it to just let go of it so quickly again. It meant he had to drag Eliot up onto the beach with a tail, which was less than ideal and required more arm strength than he was used to using in either form, but he managed it.
He turned Eliot on his side in the sand as he continued to cough up water. Part of him wanted to leave him here for the team to find and make a break for it before they saw. Eliot was unlikely to remember anything, and Nate was sure he could make something up that would appease them. Then nothing would have to change.
Eliot’s eyes fluttered open, and he shifted fitfully, his whole body shaking with cold and shock.
“Just lie still,” Nate brushed the wet hair from his face with a webbed hand, “you’re alright.”
Eliot blinked up at him, and Nate waited for the reaction, but Eliot just gave an unsurprised “oh” before another coughing fit had him curling back into himself.
Nate let out a sigh and rubbed his back. He couldn’t wait to hear what “distinctive” thing about him had tipped Eliot off to what he was.
Someone yelled his name, and he looked up to see three silhouettes, framed against the light of the burning pier and racing towards them. It was a relief to see them, but Nate couldn’t help the unease as they got closer.
Parker reached them first, too focused on Eliot to pay much attention to Nate. She dropped down in the sand next to them, grabbing Eliot’s shoulder and shaking him in the Parker version of gentleness. Eliot batted at her weakly, but curled closer to her none-the-less. It wasn’t until Nate brushed her hand away when she tried to poke Eliot that she finally looked up at him.
Nate braced himself for fear, or disgust, or any number of negative reactions, but her face lit up like she’d just received a bag of non-sequentially numbered bills.
“You have cool teeth!” she told him brightly.
Nate’s world snapped back into place and all the unease drained out of him.
“Thank you, Parker,” he said drolly, just managing to not run his tongue over the points of his teeth.
“Oh my,” Sophie stopped short as she reached them, and Hardison almost ran into her.
“What is it?” the hacker demanded anxiously, “is Eliot…”
Hardison trailed off, mouth open and eyes wide at the sight of Nate’s tail.
“Nate’s a mermaid,” Parker announced gleefully.
“Do I look like a maid to you?” Nate groused.
“Maybe if you had a feather duster,” Sophie was giving him a look that said they would be having a long, unpleasant conversation later, “and a frilly little French smock.”
“Mermaids are real?” Hardison sputtered.
“Merrow,” Eliot corrected hazily, then curled into another coughing fit.
Nate was never going to hear the end of this from any of them. The fast-approaching sirens were almost a relief.
“Get him out of here,” Nate helped Parker to sit Eliot up, “don’t let him tell you he doesn’t need a hospital. He’s got water in his lungs.”
Hardison ducked down and helped Parker get Eliot to his feet. He swayed unsteadily, and the two were quick to get his arms around their shoulders and take his weight.
“What about you?” Sophie gestured towards his tail.
“Changing back takes longer,” Nate made a shooing motion, “I’ll catch up with you later.”
“You promise?” Parker demanded, refusing to be dragged in the direction Hardison was trying to usher both her and Eliot, “not like the little mermaid; you won’t turn into sea foam for loving humans?”
“No, not like that,” Nate assured her with an eyeroll, “hurry up and get out of here so I can too.”
“But you promise,” Parker refused to budge, “you’ll catch up later. You won’t disappear.”
“I promise,” Nate snapped, “go already.”
Parker grinned and turned back to help Hardison with Eliot.
“Don’t think I won’t send a trawler after you if I have to,” Sophie threatened, then turned to follow the rest of the team in the direction of the waiting van.
Nate didn’t doubt she would, and that they would find him, but he didn’t have any intention of making them do that. For now though, he pushed back into the water and let the waves carry him back out towards the open sea.
**********
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell us you were a mermaid,” Hardison hissed, voice low in a futile attempt to not wake Eliot.
“Merrow,” Eliot mumbled groggily.
Futile because Eliot wasn’t sleeping. Exhausted, still feeling chilly if the truly ridiculous number of blankets piled on him were any indication, and a bit out of it from a not insignificant head injury, but not asleep, at least not at the moment.
“You know, I googled that,” Hardison groused, “just because Nate wears stupid hats all the time doesn’t mean he’s some kind of Irish shape-shifting sea creature.”
Sophie snorted indelicately.
“That’s not…” Eliot started to protest, only to be cut off by Parker, which was probably for the best given how soar his throat sounded.
“You can’t have your hat back,” Parker pulled Nate’s hat down farther on her head; she must have picked it up after he dropped it at the pier, “just in case.”
Eliot moved restlessly in his hospital bed, and Nate, sitting on the edge of it, dropped his hand down to pat the hitter’s wrist. He left his hand there, fingers resting lightly against Eliot’s pulse point.
“You can keep the hat, Parker,” Nate said easily, “it looks good on you.”
Parker beamed at him from the foot of Eliot’s bed.
“It’s a con anyway,” Nate continued dismissively, “someone made it up centuries ago to trick fishermen and it stuck.”
“You really are a merrow,” Hardison deflated, as if the reality of it had finally sunk in.
“Yes, Nate,” Sophie sat back in the uncomfortable hospital chair regally, looking for all the world like a queen reigning over her court, “do tell us about being a mythical sea creature.”
Parker leaned forward like a child eager for a bedtime story.
“Well…”
Nate was interrupted by Eliot reaching up with his free hand to try to pull his oxygen cannulas off. Again. Nate caught his hand and lowered it back down to rest on his chest.
“Leave that be for now,” Nate gave his hand a pat.
“I don’t want it,” Eliot shifted, movements agitated and unsure, as if he couldn’t decide what he wanted to do, “we should get out of here. It isn’t safe.”
“I’ve got it all taken care of, man,” Hardison reassured him patiently, “we’re safe.”
“Security’s not…” Eliot started to protest.
“We’re security,” Nate let his hand fall back to Eliot’s wrist and left it there, “we’ll check in with the doctor this afternoon and reassess, alright?”
Eliot grumbled, but settled down again.
There was very little chance of Eliot being released before tomorrow. He was responding well to oxygen, and the CT had looked good, but he had been unconscious underwater, and that wasn’t something any of them wanted to take lightly. He was having trouble focusing and keeping track of what was going on around him, and it wasn’t because of the relatively mild pain meds he had been given.
Better to keep him where he could get the care he needed, at least while they could. Nate wasn’t kidding about reassessing. If the situation changed, and they needed to go to ground, they had other resources they could tap into to make sure Eliot still got taken care of. For now, though, this was best.
“Nate,” Parker was looking at him intently, “Sophie said I should pick something besides money that I want for my birthday.”
Nate turned to face her, resigned to whatever was coming.
“I like gold and gems too,” Parker grinned, “shipwrecks have lots of gold and gems.”
Nate gave a long-suffering sigh, and pointedly ignored Sophie suppressing a snicker.
“It wouldn’t even be like stealing,” Parker pressed, “it’s not like anyone really owns it anymore.”
“There are plenty of countries that would disagree with you on that,” Nate said dryly.
“Only if they know we have it,” Parker shrugged, “so can we go diving for treasure for my birthday?”
“You have to commit to a date for your birthday first, sweetheart,” Sophie pointed out, “also, if we’re diving for treasure, there is the platinum reserves Spain dumped into the ocean in the 16th century. Probably not enough to make the expense of an actual expedition worth it, but if you could just swim to it…”
“No,” Nate said firmly, “absolutely not. We are not treasure hunters.”
“But we could be,” Hardison smiled impishly, “we do need alternative revenues streams after all.”
“Not Spain,” Eliot murmured sleepily, “’s guarded.”
“By what? A kraken?” Hardison scoffed, then paused, “wait, there isn’t a kraken, is there?”
“No,” Nate said firmly at the same time that Eliot said “yes.”
He glared at the hitter, who gave him a tired, shit-eating grin.
“It’s not a cephalopod,” Eliot looked far too pleased with the way Hardison started to sputter.
Nate pinched the bridge of his nose. At this rate, they were never going to get Hardison near the water again.
“You’re making that up,” Hardison balked, “there aren’t sea monsters.”
“How would you know?” Eliot countered, “you don’t even swim.”
Hardison opened his mouth to deny the accusation, but Nate interrupted him.
“What I want to know, is how you knew what I was,” he gave Eliot a curious look.
It would be good for him to know what had tipped Eliot off so he could fix it. The fewer people that could tell what he was, the better. Maggie had known, had seen him change once before they were married, but he hadn’t wanted to split his life between two worlds. He had chosen the land, still chose the land. That remained where the things that mattered to him were.
“You bled all over me when you were shot,” Eliot said, “your blood is different than human blood. It’s distinctive.”
Not something he could do anything about then, although it was interesting to him that Eliot hadn’t bothered to say anything about it sooner. As with all the random and far-reaching knowledge Eliot had, Nate was caught between wanting to know how he knew and feeling it was probably best not to ask.
“That’s just nasty,” Hardison grumbled.
“So we’ll go to South American, and Hardison and I will track down the shipwreck sites,” Parker continued as if she had never been interrupted, “you can search the shipwrecks, and Eliot can help me update my dive certification.”
“Whatever you want, darling,” Eliot yawned.
“Do I get a say in this?” Nate asked.
“Probably not,” Sophie looked thoroughly amused.
“It will be like a family vacation,” Parker grinned, clearly excited by the idea, “you and Sophie keep saying I’m supposed to try normal people things that I haven’t done before.”
Nate knew a lost cause when he heard one. He sat back and listened to Hardison and Parker plan, keeping half an eye on Eliot as he finally drifted off to sleep.  Sophie alternated between encouraging the pair with much too much enthusiasm and giving Nate thoughtful side glances. He was grateful she didn’t push for more information. Not yet anyway.
He had told Maggie before he had proposed to her. It had seemed unfair not to. And Sam… Sam had been so young. Nate was never sure he really believed it was more than a fairy story. Maybe if he had lived longer… gotten to be older… who knew what could have happened, what potential had never been unlocked. It hurt to think about, made him want to reach for a bottle and try to forget all the things his son should have been, should have had.
Eliot reached for the cannulas in his sleep, and Nate caught his hand, bringing it back down to his side and holding onto it.
Nate had a future here. Different from the one he had so badly wanted, shaped by different tides, full of unexplored depths and currents, but still good. He was learning to live with that, slow though the process was. It wasn’t the catastrophe he had always thought it would be, having them find out.
If the trade-off for this new future was the occasional treasure hunt, Nate could live with that.
*********
Parker continued to be non-committal about choosing a birthday, but there was a lovely 16th century gold and ruby pendent necklace tucked under the tree for her at Christmas.

okay y’all listen up:
if you came to freeform’s siren for the ot3 or if you just loved the ot3 and are Not Okay™ about the current turn of events with the show, I have a show that will be a balm for your battered soul:
leverage
Tumblr media
here are some of the perks:
ragtag team of “ex” thieves using their skills to take down the rich and powerful (white men)
epitome of the found family trope (this show basically CREATED the trope, I’m legitimately serious, deadass I believe they were the ones that truly created it) (edit: obviously I’m exaggerating but you catch my drift)
C A N O N polyamorous relationship made concretely canon by the last episode (although there are themes of it throughout the entire series)
Tumblr media
also lowkey highkey the writer has been writing fanfiction for the ot3 on ao3 for the past decade but won’t say what his handle is. and no, I’m not even joking:
Tumblr media
“villian” of the week storyline that never gets stale
after every con they make sure to dramatically gloat in the background, just in sight of their corrupt mark(s)
there is never a boring episode. no dips in content quality.
the writers didn’t believe in cliffhangers for season finales. they believed if you had to rely on shock factor or cliffhangers to keep the audience you weren’t doing it right
the Smart™ character is Alec Hardison, a black foster kid turned greatest hacker in the world. he loves and respect his nana above all else. (his first major crime was making the bank of iceland pay for his nana’s medical bills). he is PROUD geek (“age of the geek, baby”) and is can be emotional and there is nothing wrong with that (no toxic themes of black man hyper masculinity here, people). he is allowed and is unapologetically himself and on MANY occasions described (by his ot3 partners as well as the rest of the team) as the smartest man they’ve ever known. he is canonically romantically involved with parker for the last two seasons but he is also coded to be in a budding relationship with eliot (no toxic heteronormativity here either)
Tumblr media
parker, canonically the greatest thief in the world, has many characteristics of being neurodivergent (possibly autistic) but is N E V E R made fun of or treated differently by her team because of this. she has trouble with emotions and connecting with others and was originally set up as the crazy, quirky girl character but the show was quick to set her up as SO MUCH MORE than that. her team helps her feel again after a rough, childhood and she learns to grift like a pro. shes baby and I’d die for her. she’s extremely smart and is built up to be the next mastermind of the team. her two love interests accept her for who she is and love everything about her. she is also bisexual (DONT @ ME I WILL TAKE THIS TO THE GRAVE THERE WERE TOO MANY HINTS AT IT)
Tumblr media
eliot spencer, the hitter. basically is the brawn of the group that takes the hits for his team and fights if there is trouble or if they can’t just get in and out stealthily. started off as an 18 year old soldier with an idealized view of the world, slowly got involved with dubious military involvement and eventually turned into a hit man for hire. made many questionable choices but he eventually got out of that life. he HATES guns and when in fights, always takes his opponent’s gun away, dismantles the clip and throws it off to the side. despite all of this, he is N E V E R ONCE the toxic white manly man with a tragic past trope. never. yeah, he’s made major mistakes. yes, he has a tragic past. but that doesn’t define him. he attones for his past and tries to be better but it’s not a major plot point to overwhelm the viewer with manpain. he sometimes sleeps with other people but always cares about his lovers and pays attention to them (also lowkey sometimes the gender isn’t mentioned about past lovers so 👀👀👀 it’s Noted™). he is sure of himself and has the emotional stability that we wish bucky barnes would have. he teaches the women in his life how to fight and protect themselves. he loves cooking and uses his passion for it to teach parker how to feel (because cooking made him feel again after his terrible past). he’s so IN LOVE with parker and hardison- those heart eyes can be seen from the fucking MOON
Tumblr media
sophie deveraux. grifter. english accent. EX art thief (“why does no one take that seriously!!!). wants to be an actress but cannot act for her LIFE unless she’s breaking the law. the mom/aunt of the group. she’s sexy, not just for her age- she’s sexy, period. she talks parker through grifting situations and teaches her how to interact with other people. I’d trust her with my secrets, but not with any valuables.
Tumblr media
nate ford. the mastermind. an ex insurance agent. his son died after his company wouldn’t pay for his treatments. became a drunk, but the team gave him a reason to live again. his alcoholism could create problems for him, but it’s not glossed over at all in the show and is constantly addressed. he could be a dick and they didn’t excuse that. he and sophie have a relationship that takes three seasons to finally become something, and in the end after a lot of dancing around it becomes a healthy, loving relationship. he teaches parker to be the next mastermind, but doesn’t DREAM of leaving until he’s sure his kids parker, hardison and eliot will be good on their own. he could have easily been the broken white man trope but wasn’t. also, his “let’s go steal a _____” sctick never gets old- the bigger the thing they steal the better it gets, I promise.
Tumblr media
literally, this is the best show of all time. it has it all: taking down rich white men, the found family of your DREAMS, a canon ot3
Tumblr media
message my sideblog @leverage-ot3 for any questions or comments. you won’t regret watching this show, I promise.
(I’m tagging some other fandoms as well that I think might enjoy this show)
IMPORTANT EDIT:
the show aired from 2008-2012 (five seasons), but the show runners have reached a critical rage point about corporations today and have RENEWED IT for a sixth season (and possibly more)!!!

A/N: To put it plainly, I took a few tricks from John Hughes’s earlier scripts of the film, which were more surreal and up-front with discussing death and end of the world scenarios. Does she know about the mysterious warmth in his stomach when he thinks about Jonathan? “What do you mean, the whole me-Nancy-Jonathan thing?” “Come on, Steve. She’s your ex and he famously beat you up two years ago and now they’re dating each other and all three of you somehow ended up a part of this weird little monster-fighting club together. There’s not much more to tell.”
Have Happened by cortexikid

You were talking in your sleep.”Steve's heart fluttered nervously.“It was a little funny at first,” Nancy admitted, her tone a mix of teasing and apologetic, “you were moaning my name and I thought it’d be kinda funny if Mike accidentally overheard you having a sex dream about his sister—”Steve couldn’t control the guffaw that escaped him. “But then you said Jonathan’s name. Right after mine. All in the same breath.”
it’s a risk, it’s a gamble by nondz (pinkjook)

He has the minor issue of having no idea what he actually wants to do with his life. But it's not all that bad: not the kids he has to watch, and certainly not Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers, two friends from his history class. It's not like people live like this
TW/TAGS: Car Accidents, Period-Typical Homophobia, NSFW
Summary: Concerned that Steve's less-than-stellar grades might have been making them look bad, his parents hired him a tutor, Jonathan Byers, they were sure he wouldn't find as distracting as his last one. Sure, Jonathan had good grades in school, but he really wished he didn't have to take the extra work to help his mother put food on the table. After all, everyone knew Steve Harrington was a jerk. Right? It turned out, not so much. After an impromptu study-session-turned-party and a game of spin the bottle, Steve and Jonathan both found themselves dating Nancy Wheeler. Leverage Log: The Girls Night Out Job
Ok, i get we're trying to seperate the boys from the girls so we can have 2 gender-locked episodes... But dont tell me that "have you ever seen a robot bleed out" would not get Parker hyped. She's verry much into violence and weirdness.
Assuming that this is a "both episodes happen on the same night", then Nate's comment about Bonanno showing up for their cardgame could be interesting. (I'd like the cast to actually interact with their designated Jim Gordon-type)
Parker still doesnt understand properly that "she's Alice", "we've been doing brunch" "and we're proud of you" "its not hard, there are forks" 10/10, no notes.
"you know that thing where you fix me?" Wow Parker, thats... bad, like self-image wise. You are not broken.
Peggy is catering a party at the venezealan consulate... God dammit, her date is a thief/conartist/other criminal isnt he. He's gonna either steal something or assasinate a politician. im sorry Peggy.
Hardison does a face-ID. Good news is simple: He's a burglar not a murderer! OMG Parkers cat-wants-to-hear-my-voice lie was fantastic. She's gotten so good at Grifting. (Sophie should be proud)
Sophie and Tara's debate around the right method of investigating a hotelroom is interupted by 2 goons, who imediatly have a disagreement on the right way to investigate a hotelroom.
And Peggy thinks Alice stole her date. (in her defence, she kind of did.)
I definitly think he instantly realised something was wrong when the door he knew was locked just "fell" open.
Lovely little moment as she goes back to meet with Peggy, when the thief reminds us that Parker is a person who, even back in Episode 1 of Season 1, was deserving of a "The" in front of the name.
OMG Mattingly is a suave-ass slipster. I was about to complain "why wouldnt you just make a copy of the data and sell it twice" but turns out he DID!
I like Himbo Arsene Lupin, he's nice.
Peggy with the frying pan. Imagine being an assassin hired by a government to bomb an entire gala full of various dignitaries, and somehow losing, not to Parker and Sophie, but to Parker's normal friend.
Hardison getting extremely frustrated at all the pictures of Parker's handsome date he's sent. only to be realise "oh thats a bomb". The simple solution: Dont be there when it goes off.
I like the idea that Himbothief is gonna take a page out of Team Leverage's book in the future. The idea that Team Leverage's influence is spreading through others is nice.
Sophie's horror at having been given an alias as boring and mundane as a "Marge".
Good episode. Now lets watch the other side of the story.

notable moments from The Lost Hier Job
leverage 2.09
(Sophie opens her curtains and looks out the window. A knock comes to the door and she goes to look through the peep hole, then immediately opens the door)
Sophie: Who's dead?
Nate: No, no. Everybody's okay. Can I...
Sophie: Huh?
Nate: I-I...
(Sophie lets Nate into the room)
Sophie: Oh. Y-You scared the life out of me.
HER FIRST FEAR IS THAT SOMEONE DIED OR GOT HURT
SOPHIE IS THEIR MOM FIRST BEFORE EVERYTHING

Nate: Oh, yeah. No, we're doing fine. I mean, yeah. Everything's, I mean, it kind of went from a quintet to what we are now, a quartet. I mean, it's like, we still know how to play. We sound good, you know. But something is, uh, sounding a little bit, uh, you know, wrong.
Sophie: Huh. Well, I hope that I’m, I really hope I’m not the violist because when I was little, my mum made me have lessons, and I was rubbish. I was completely rubbish. I can't play a note. Not a single note
- - - - -
Tara: Either I am in, or Ruth is out. It's your choice. (walks away)
Nate: They are gonna hate this.
[Leverage HQ]
Eliot: I hate this.
Hardison: You do not let Vicki Vale into the Batcave ever.
Nate: First, this is my home, not a cave. And, second, we're not gonna allow her up here.
Parker: Sophie would never approve. Call her.
Nate: We can't just keep calling Sophie.
Hardison: Oh, okay. I see how it is. We can't call her, but you can go off and have a little secret meeting with her.
Nate: Secret meeting? What are you talking about? I was in Harrisburg, researching a client.
Hardison: Wow, ‘cause you know what? (hits remote and pulls information up on monitor) Your passport got dinged going through Heathrow airport yesterday. Heathrow's in London. I guess you couldn't get a direct flight over to Harrisburg.
Eliot: Well, it's hard when you do the same-day booking.
Hardison: Yeah, 'cause you had to go with the -- Did you realize that London is the home of the most surveillance cameras in the world?
Parker: Really?
Hardison: Who feels like playing "where's Waldo"?
Parker: Oh. Yeah. (raises hand)
Hardison: I do. (hits remote to show video on monitors) Oh. There's Waldo right there. Waldo Ford. Oh, oh. Is that big Ben and you? Wow. You got twins and triplets everywhere. And looky there. 11:18 am standing outside of Sophie’s apartment, Looking quite pensive.
Parker: Aww. He's rehearsing what he's gonna say. I've seen him do that.
Nate: All right, all right, all right, guys. Okay. Yeah. You caught me. I went to London. Yeah. I saw Sophie. And she's not coming back.
Parker: Not now or not ever?
Nate: I don't know. And I don't, I don't think she knows either. So, uh, that's that. Could you please take the...

Eliot: Well, she's honest.
Hardison: Crusader. Incorruptible.

(Blanchard enters room reading a file. He looks up to see Nate on a ladder tearing pages from a law book and clears his throat. Nate looks over at him)
can someone PLEASE make a compilation of nate’s characters being obnoxious and chaotic pretty please

parker’s sMOOTH exit from the vents into a flip I am in LOVE with her

Hardison: I tied the adoption-Reference number to the medical records of one of Parker's aliases. Social security, taxes, long record of drug offenses. Anybody short of the CIA is gonna believe that is Kimball’s daughter.
he’s so good at this I love it

(hiding behind a broken crate, Lind points a gun at Parker and Hardison. Eliot sees this as he approaches)
Eliot: Nate!
(Lind fires, shattering the passenger’s side window. Eliot runs forward, bends to pick up a rock, and throws it at Lind, hitting him in the head. He fires again, shooting out the tire as Nate runs around the car. Lind swings the gun at Eliot, who catches it. Lind punches Eliot in the stomach and Eliot hits Lind in the face with the gun. Eliot throws the gun down as Lind stumbles back for more)
Eliot: Come on!
(Lind swings, Eliot ducks and hits Lind in the ribs, then pushes him away. Lind turns around and swings but Eliot blocks his punches, grabbing him and throwing him to the ground. Lind gets up and looks at the gun. Eliot picks up the gun)
Eliot: You want this?
(Lind holds up his hands and moves away, running. Nate and Parker move out from behind the car. Eliot unloads the gun and tosses it aside)
when eliot sees the sniper and is terrified? when he manages to pick up a rock and nail the sniper in the face with it while running? his FURY when he’s fighting him? he’ll do anything to protect his family
- - - - -
(Eliot and Parker walk past a sunglasses vendor. Eliot bumps a table for a distraction and Parker grabs two pairs of sunglasses, handing one to Eliot)
Eliot: Are you kidding me? (puts on the glasses) Look at this.
THEYRE SO IN SYNC I LOVE IT
also married complaining about the style of the sunglasses? we love to see it
- - - - -
(Eliot and Parker run through a hallway)
Parker: We're cut off. We're gonna have to get rough.
Eliot: I ain't hitting cops.
(a noise from behind has them looking back)
Parker: I look forward to seeing you explain that
remember that one commentary with john rogers where he said in this scene beth changed her lines/energy to more of a kinky vibe that made the scene that much better? because I do and boy was this scene charged with something interesting
- - - - -
Eliot: All right. Be cool.
(Eliot unloads the gun and catches the bullet)
Eliot: All right. Nothing's gonna happen to anybody. Just settle down.
(The officer raises a stun gun that Eliot knocks out of his hand and Parker catches)
Eliot: You’re not using a stun gun either
(Eliot pushes the officer back and Parker points the stun gun at the officer)
Eliot: Hold on. Stop. Chill. All right? Nobody's gonna get hurt.
(another officer steps out behind Parker, his gun raised)
Officer: Drop it!
(Parker points the stun gun under her arm and hits the officer, knocking him down)
Eliot (to Parker): Seriously? What are you doin’?
Parker: Mmm.
Eliot (to officer): Listen, it's probably best if you pretend that you never saw us. Okay?
(Eliot and Parker move down the hall past the fallen officer. Parker triggers the stun gun again)
Eliot: Stop
parker loves tasing people and eliot is exhausted
- - - - -
Nate: Hey, Parker, forget about the hearing. I need you to do something else.
(Parker pulls files from the safe in Blanchard’s office, proudly kissing it)
SHES BABY YOUR HONOR
- - - - -
Blanchard: What the hell is this? Hey, you don't understand!
(the officers drag Blanchard to the exit)
Blanchard: These people are thieves! I don’t even think that one’s a lawyer!
someone also make a compilation of their marks swearing they’re not who they say they are. I just think it’s funny and chaotic
- - - - -
parker hardison and eliot all walk in together (TOGETHER)
also both parker and eliot are wearing flannel
- - - - -
Parker: I bet you're not even a lawyer.
Tara: Oh. Sophie was right. You are adorable.
Parker: Excuse me?
(Eliot, Parker and Hardison talk angrily at her for several moments as Nate reads what’s in the envelope)
some highlights that I was able to hear from all of them talking over each other:
- Eliot: Don’t comment and say that kinda stuff. You don’t know us at all.
- Hardison: Woah, you’re overstepping here
- Parker: You don’t get to call me adorable. You don’t get to say that.
basically the boys jump to her defense and I love it
also SOPHIE CANONICALLY TOLD TARA PARKER WAS ADORABLE THATS SO SWEET

Hardison: Whoa, whoa, hold up. Mnh-Mnh. Hold up, hold up. What is this?
Tara: Oh, it’s a bill, for my cut of the inheritance. Hey, I’m not a candy striper. This is my job.
(Eliot, Hardison and Parker look at Nate, who nods)
Tara: There. See? We're getting paid already. It's gonna be fun.

Fic Writer Interview
Tagged by @ober-affen-geil (thanks, friend!)
Okay, I know this is for fanfic writers, but I also do fan art, so some of these are going to have answers for both of my forms of distraction.
Name(s): buriedbybooks
Fandom(s): Writing: Leverage and Warehouse 13 (so far).  Art: my main fandoms at the moment are Leverage, The Untamed, and The Queen’s Thief.
Where you post: I post all of my fics on AO3 (here), usually with links on Tumblr; my art also ends up on Tumblr.
Most Popular One Shot (by kudos) This year: Writing, my most popular one shot (by Kudos) is The Last Loner Job (Leverage).  This fic is a character study of how and why Eliot would try to go off on his own again (post canon; answer: blame Vance), and why this was the last time he tried it.  Art, my most popular piece (by notes) is a watercolor of Cloud Recess (The Untamed).
Most Popular Multi-Chapter (by kudos) Overall: Writing, my most popular multi-chapter (for which I count anything that I number my sections) is Five (more) times Eliot said “Dammit, Hardison!” and one he didn’t need to (Leverage).  I had a blast writing this one—I love the variety of shades in the way Eliot says “Dammit, Hardison” and decided to explore them.  I also am a sucker for soft, and this gave me that opportunity for the Leverage OT3.  Art, my most popular set of pieces (by notes) were the Illuminated letters for Hitter, Hacker, Grifter, Thief (Leverage).  This was a series that stuck in my brain for a while—I wanted to revisit some of the traditional illumination techniques that I’d learned (calligraphy is a side gig-hobby for me) but use it in fan art. So I decided to use the characters from Leverage as part of the letters.
This year: Same as above; I’m new to being active in fandoms online, so all of this is actually since the beginning of the pandemic.
Favorite story you’ve written so far: This question...  Not easy. I will have to say The Black Book, because this is where it all started.  The Black Book was written on the premise that Nate and Sophie bet on the relationship(s) between the other three main characters in Leverage (Eliot, Parker, and Hardison, our beloved OT3).  It was a really fun writing exercise for me, because I literally went back and watched the entire show and took notes on all of the interactions: who was present for them, who saw them, who heard them, who was on comms.  Then I wove these little scenes in between the scenes of the show.  It really helped me get to know the characters and feel more comfortable writing them.
Fic you were nervous to post: Ooof. Um.  Well, I’ll mention two here.  The first one, The Black Book, because it was the first piece of fan-fiction that I had ever written, and also the first piece I have ever published.  The second was Tradition, because I wanted to treat the content with the care and respect that it needed—faith and belief are incredibly personal.
How do you choose your titles?: Spitballing! I usually come up with two or three titles and then send them to content control and see what they think suits best. Sometimes we’ll go back and forth.  I don’t title my art pieces.
Do you outline?: Sometimes. Usually it is just the major plot points (point a and point b)  and then I sit and stare at my document until I figure it out. Unfortunately, I almost always write linearly, so when I get stuck… I really get stuck.
Complete: So far this year: 12 fan fictions; 34 fan art pieces
In-Progress: Another Leverage-Warehouse 13 crossover piece where Eliot runs into the Count of Saint Germain again (first incident is in Living Well).  Is this where I also mention the one that I wrote months ago and haven’t published?
Coming soon/not yet started: Maybe two or three other vague ideas kicking around that may coalesce into something?  Maybe.
Prompts?: Yes!  I love it when people send me concepts to mess around with.  Most of my fics have come from wonderful ‘what if’ statements that were tossed my way. Then I sit there with it, take it apart, rotate it around, and see if it is something I can work with.  If it isn’t something that speaks to me, or I think I am the wrong person to handle it, I will tell you.  Tradition came from a friend asking “What if Hardison really were Jewish?”  I think they thought they’d get a scene or a couple of lines… Parker had other ideas.
Upcoming work you’re most excited about: I’m currently revisiting the insanity that occurs whenever Bennett Sutton, the Count of Saint Germain walks into the room.  The man will NOT shut up.
