Writing this for all of the Armys who aren't taking these news very well. Everyone copes differently and you're allowed to feel and express your emotions, but it is VERY IMPORTANT that you don't forget this: TO TRUST Bts and their promise. I can't predict what kind of stories and rumors will follow, but seeing the media response after the dinner, I think it's safe to say they'll try to make it seem as 'doom like' as possible. I don't know, we'll see. But the point is the same. T - R - U - S - T.
Just imagine how frustrating and defeating it must feel to them who shared and said something they mean from the bottom of their hearts only for all of their words getting twisted just to create some drama. And it worked. "but-but you know who else said they'll be back, one direction 👉🏻👈🏻" "this is the end, they just don't want to announce it yet", "time to say goodbye 🥺", etc. Like, no??? I get the concern, but just put yourself in their shoes. That no matter what you say, your narrative is going to be manipulated by someone else. I'd be so fed up. And I know they're tired of it too. They said what they mean and they mean what they said. They want to keep going and they want to continue to be together as a group and that's that.
If you really can't feel secure with that fact, at least have some respect and don't spread it around because they use social media too, and that would be just hurtful for them to see. Correction, to continue seeing. They need our support and encouragement more than ever, to see that we're still standing by their side and that OUR PROMISE to them and to us as a fandom is just like theirs, more than just empty words.
That we are in this together 💜

namjoon is a very smart man and i don’t think he had any ill intentions posting that song reco. he probably just liked the lyrics and the ACTUAL meaning behind it. (this is confirmed by muslim armys, genius and bunch of muslim LGBTQ+ locals) its really not his fault that kpoppies have bad comprehension skills.
all i gotta say is that, if you’re not part of it, don’t talk like you know everything. you can’t be offended when you’re not even part of the conversation. if you’re not muslim, you’re not part of the LGBTQ community, and you’re not an ARMY, don’t even start shit! focus on your damn selves. LET THE MUSLIM ARMYS HANDLE IT. WE HAVE NO SAY IN THIS. Don’t even get started with the “ARMY” who threw namjoon under the bus without doing proper research. you call yourself a fan but you’re doing exactly what they hate and that is twisting their words and intentions. ALWAYS TRUST THEM.
i honestly really hope that namjoon doesn’t see the mess cause i would be really fucking pissed if he stopped recommending songs he likes and posting on ig all because of dumb people on the internet. but unfortunately i feel like he’s aware of it because some weirdos thought it was fine to harass and threathen his friends and family. STOP DOING THAT. sending de@th threats to anyone is so immature no matter what they did or in this case DIDNT DO. it doesn’t justify anything at all.

All the members had just gotten home from rehearsal, and immediately went to find you just so they could throw silly little tantrums about you not being there.
The way they were pouting reminded you more of kicked puppies than world-wide sensations.
"It's fine guys, I know someone who can cover for me until I get better."
"But we like your choreography better." Taehyung whines into your shoulder and you pat his head in comfort.
"It's just a month or two, Tae."
You had broken your leg about a week ago, and consequently, you couldn't continue choreographing for the group until you were fully healed.
Which meant either the boys paused their learning, or you brought someone else in to cover for you - and you're all aware that pausing isn't really an option.
"But I'll miss you." Your boyfriends were overly dramatic, acting like you were leaving even though you all lived together.
"You'll still see me at home, it's not like I'm dropping off the face of the earth."
He huffs into your shoulder and rolls over so he's sitting next to you normally now.
"Anyway, how have you been? Have you felt okay?" Seokjin sits down on the other side of you and you feel yourself growing a bit shy under his caring stare.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
•••
"Hi! Thank you so much for covering for me. We're on a reall-"
"Save it, it's whatever. I always told you you'd need my help again at some point."
You don't like the implications in her tone but you pass it off with a small chuckle.
"Okay, so they already know 2 out of the 5 numbers for this album, and we were in the middle of learning the 3rd one. I taught it to Hoseok in advance so he can take over for that one. So you wouldn't need to be at the studio until next week. I'll send you the videos I took of the foundation of the other 2 numbers so you can learn it and then teach it."
She looked so uninterested in what you were saying, but you had to be professional.
You called her here in the first place.
"Kay, cool, got it. Also, can I get the guys' numbers? You know, just in case."
"Oh uhm, you can ask them when you see them next week… I'm not sure if they want me giving out their numbers to people they don't really know."
"Well they're gonna know me soon right? Don't be greedy, trying to keep all of them to yourself."
She giggles but you can feel that it's not really one of genuine giddiness and you hope that your discomfort isn't apparent.
"I'll ask them when I see them later today."
You plaster on the best smile you can and she gives you an equally forced one back.
"Okay. Bye!"
She basically struts away and you're left standing there; maybe calling her was the wrong move.
•••
Yep. Calling her was probably the wrong move. But it depends on which side of Y/N you ask.
On the professional side, this is absolutely great. They hit it off right away, all the boys growing comfortable with her rather quick (something HYBE valued a lot), and she was great at her job. Talented, bold, confident, friendly, the whole package.
On a more personal side, this was putting you on edge. How suddenly, all the guys would talk about was 'Joanna said this a rehearsal' or 'Joanna invited us out to eat'. It was always Joanna this Joanna that, and you knew they were just excited to have a new friend, to have someone who shares their passion, you couldn't help but wonder if their feelings for you were simply out of excitement. And now that you're not the newest thing around, would they still want you? Would they still talk about you with the same sparkle in their eyes as they do with Joanna? It left a pit in your chest.
And — yeah, calling her was the definitely the wrong move.
Finally, a long-awaited date with all of you. They were filled with energy, talking and joking on the ride there, and you felt your heart growing lighter, you still had them.
They even helped you get off the car with all the gentleness in the world, helped you get in your seat and made sure you were completely comfortable.
The lightness quickly weighed down into something much heavier when you saw Joanna walk in and make her way to the table.
And the weight felt like it had been dropped to you feet when the guys scooted to make space for her, Namjoon even standing up to hug her and letting her sit first so she'd be in between him and Jungkook.
How long has it been since they hugged you with such happiness?
"Oh my god, Y/N, hi! The boys didn't tell me you would be here."
Something about the way she said "the boys" made your hands itch, almost as much as your throat itched to say 'likewise'.
"Welp. I'm here. Haha."
Dinner wasn't fun, to say the least.
Joanna was blatantly saying shit to embarrass you the entire time, and it even worse, your boyfriends seemed to be soaking up her every word, laughing whenever she pointed out something embarrassing about you when she knew you in high school.
"Yeah! And when we choreographed together, she would always forget her parts." She lets out a giggle and Hoseok laughs too: what's so funny?
"It was only once or twice." You groan, mostly to yourself, but Joanna hears it.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night."
Everyone laughs at her words again and suddenly, you start to think that staying home was the better option.
"I've always said she has the memory of a goldfish. Sometimes it felt like I was doing all the work because i constantly had to step in and help when Y/N froze up."
She turns to you when she speaks her next question:
"How are you doing now that I haven't been here to clean up after you? Are you making Jimin do it?" She laughs and nudges Jimin, who's sitting next to her, on the shoulder, and he happily shoves back with a bright smile on her face.
"I'm fine, it's rare that I forget stuff lately."
She gasps in a dramatic manner, you wish she would just disappear already.
"You? Not wasting time in rehearsal? Because you forgot? That's unheard of!"
You hate the way pretty much all of the guys laugh at her words: they know how much work you've put into being a good choreographer. Why were they laughing at you?
Suddenly, you feel the person next to you pressing up closer against you: Seokjin.
You look at him and he has a soft smile on his face, but not towards Joanna; his entire focus is on you.
"You have a really good memory darling. We can tell you've worked on it." The knot in your stomach softens its grip after hearing Seokjin's words, and for the first time since you got here, your smile is genuine.
"Anyways, how'd you injure yourself?"
"Oh, we were doing some cardio and I tripped. Fell at an awkward angle and it twisted my leg. Haha."
Joanna laughs a little too hard at this.
"I've always also said that for a supposed dancer you sure are clumsy as hell."
Some of the guys giggle at her comment, and you look down at your lap: why were they laughing at you?
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Seokjin sit up a little straighter, and you suspect he's gonna say something.
"Supposed dancer?" He raised a brow and to most people, it would've seemed like he was just egging onto the joke, but you and the rest of the table could tell that there was a serious undertone to his question.
It was no secret in your relationship with the guys that Seokjin had a specific soft spot for you – in a relationship as big as yours, its bound that all of you will have your weak spots for one another: Jungkook and Namjoon, Jimin and Taehyung, Hoseok and Yoongi, you and Seokjin.
So you were more than relieved when he met your gaze from across the table; he knew you were uncomfortable.
And as everyone knows, he's not one to stay quiet.
"I just mean it's surprising that for someone so clumsy she went into the professional world where coordination is crucial."
Jungkook uses this point to tease Namjoon, and thankfully the attention is taken off of you. You catch Seokjin's stare again and this time it's accompanied with an apologetic smile and him reaching out his hand to hold yours.
As your hands meet on top of the table, you seem to be the only one who notices the look Joanna sends you at the display of affection.
•••
More days pass by and everyday they get home later and later until you're left going to bed on your own.
You'd made it a habit to wait for each other if one was out late, but it didn't happen often since you had almost the same working hours and when you went out, it was usually altogether.
You'd tried to keep that habit after your injury, but they were coming home later everyday, and you weren't sure you had it in you to keep staying up for them.
Especially on nights like this one, where when they do get home, you're dismissed almost entirely.
The door opens and you sit up, ready to greet them one by one with a hug and kiss, but most of them just mumble a "hey" or "hi Y/N" and walk straight to their rooms.
Only Jungkook and Seokjin genuinely acknowledge you, Jungkook giving you a hug and a peck on the forehead accompanied by a soft "Hi baby." before going to his room as well.
Seokjin also hugs you, but he picks you up while doing so: shifting you in his arms so he can carry you to bed with him.
As he begins to walk, your eyes meet and he sends a soft smile your way.
You barely start to relax in his hold when you realize that he's walking into your room, and you slightly panic at the thought that he's going to leave you alone in there.
Your slight panic turns into franticness as he sets you down and steps away from the bed.
"No! Don't-" Jin whips around at the sound of your voice, and you feel immediate guilt when you see his startled expression.
"Sorry, I- I know you're tired. Sorry, you can go."
Your attempts to decrease his worry don't seem to work, because he's already making his way back towards your bed.
"No, no. What happened? Whats wrong?"
"Its nothing." Seokjin gives you a stern look, you both know that lying to him is impossible.
"It's not nothing. Is it your leg? Or is it something else?"
"Its stupid" you mumble.
Noticing that you're unsure of yourself, he sits closer to you and brushes you hair out of your face in attempts to comfort you.
"Its not stupid if its bothering you" you feel your tears welling up again at how soft Seokjin's voice is. How soft he is with you.
"I just- I don't think I can be alone right now." You lean into his touch as you finally get at least some of the truth off your chest.
"You don't have to be. I was going to shower, do you want to join me?"
"I don't want to bother you."
"You won't."
"But my leg, I won't be able to stand for long."
"It's okay, we'll bring a stool in and I'll help you."
"But you're tired-"
"Never of taking care of you."
Something in your heart settles through the rest of the night, there is no other intention behind Seokjin asking you to join him.
He washes your hair and even dries it once you're out, he helps you get dressed and he goes to sleep holding you, and even if it's just for one night; all is right in the world again.
The next morning, Jin wakes you up and asks you if you'd like to come to rehearsal with the 7 of them. You're elated, to say the least. You knew it was a minimum thing, but your heart couldn't help but flutter at the thought that they wanted you around.
•••
Jin on the other hand, is pissed. Not at you, (never at you), but at his 6 boyfriends and how absolutely dense they could be, this being one of those moments.
He'd mentioned that you were coming with them, and all of them responded well: "I hope she likes the choreo!" "Yay! I want to hear what she has to say."
Their response to you tagging along wasn't the problem, no.
It was their response when he tried to tell them about how you were feeling that pissed him off:
"Wait guys, before we leave, I need to talk to you about something real quick."
All of them were attentive towards him immediately, so he thought they'd receive this better.
"It's about Y/N. And partially Joanna."
"Okay?"
"I talked to Y/N last night and she seemed upset. She didn't really want to talk about it but I'm almost completely sure that she's feeling left out, and I think it may partially be because of Joanna."
All of them begin to speak at once, until Taehyung's voice cuts through everyone else's.
"Why do you think it has something to do with Joanna?"
The 6 boys settle down and stare expectantly at Jin.
"Have you guys not noticed how backhanded all of Joanna's comments are towards her? Even when Y/N isn't present, she always makes a joke at her expense. And not to mention, we've been spending a lot of time with Joanna, much more than we've been spending with Y/N. I know if I were her I would feel hurt; being injured and spending the whole day cooped up alone while my boyfriends are spending all their time with someone who treats me like dog shit."
Jin wasn't sure what he was expecting the boys' reactions to be, but it definitely wasn't the outraged faces they were all giving him.
Jungkook is the first one to respond:
"I mean, I noticed the comments but I thought they were all in good fun? You know, since Y/N and Joanna have been friends for such a long time."
Taehyung cuts in next:
"And if Y/N is feeling left out, I mean I understand but what does that have to do with Joanna?"
Almost as if on cue, there's noise coming from the kitchen, meaning that you're awake.
Jin quickly gets up to go to you, but not before leaving the 6 boys with one final word, "Just pay attention to how she speaks to Y/N, you'll see what I'm talking about."
•••
It's hard to describe – the knowledge that you're being left behind without any obvious evidence surrounding you.
It's not something that everyone outside of your point of view might see, but you can feel it cutting through you deeply.
Not being able to do what you love, and on top of that, not being able to spend time with the people you love, it's a shattering feeling that claws through your chest.
Which leaves you where you are now: in the car with the rest of the boys on your way to rehearsal.
You thought that maybe being back in the studio would relight the spark that made the 7 men drawn to you in the first place, but even the car ride there felt cold and almost uncomfortable.
•••
The atmosphere changes the moment you step foot in the studio. It feels lighter, somehow. You don't know how to feel, not with the voice in your head insinuating that this lightness is because of Joanna; the guys are more at ease with Joanna than they are with you.
You usually hate being wrong: but now, you wish you could say the voice in your head was being irrational, yet you can't. Not when you turn around and see everyone besides Seokjin and Yoongi - who are off conversing to the side - gathered around Joanna, happily talking to her.
When did they stop looking at you like that?
Finally, she takes notice of your presence and makes her way over to you.
"Y/N, girly! Hey! Are you here to learn?"
You don't respond, confused as to what she's trying to ask you.
"Ya'know? Learn from the best! We've been so productive with this number."
She responds like it's the most obvious thing in the world, and you almost feel offended at what she's insinuating.
"Oh, um- I'm here to see what the guys have done."
Joanna blinks at you, as if your answer threw her off, before continuing.
"Oh. Ok then. Cool! And are the boys cool with that?"
You can tell, she wants this to sound passive aggressive. Kind on the surface, but a clear jab at your insecurities.
Jungkook quickly cuts in;
"Of course. Why wouldn't we be cool with that?"
Joanna stutters through her response, being caught off guard by Jungkook as she thought no one had heard her remark.
"Oh! I don't know, you might get distracted? You know?"
"We'll be fine."
This time it's Jin who answers, and even if it's a little selfish, you're glad that his tone towards Joanna is automatically cold.
"Okay thennnn!"
She turns to you:
"But if you start being a distraction I'll have to ask you to step out. Heh, step out. That's funny."
She giggles at her little joke (at your expense), and makes her way into the practice room.
Rehearsal continues as usual, and you feel a bit lighter as the boys all make jokes and include you while they stretch and warm up.
They start to run through the choreography, and your heart swells with pride seeing them dance; all their hard work really does pay off.
As much as you wish to get up and dance with them, or even get up at all, you know you can't. But just seeing them perform will do.
Once they finish, you start to clap and Jimin and Jungkook turn towards you with a playful vow.
"Its looking really good guys!"
All of the boys respond with a 'thank you' and a smile.
"I do have a couple pointers about some things I noticed-"
"Okay, let's run it again!" Before you could finish your sentence you're cut off by Joanna's squeaky voice.
Thankfully, Hoseok cares about what you have to say, and the rest seem to agree as well.
"Wait, I wanna hear what Y/N had to say."
"Yeah! It's felt weird learning a brand new number and not having any of your input on it."
"Y/N, go on." Seokjin is the one who speaks last, and the look in his eyes tell you that things will be alright.
"Ok, so first thing make sure you guys are agreeing on your directions, make sure that it's either a complete diagonal or if its a slanted move so you all move the same direction-"
"Oh yeah, I explained that to them already, they know." You're once again cut off by Joanna.
You use this as a chance to tease the boys, as you always normally.
"Oh, then why are y'all making that mistake huh?" Your tone is playful, and you see Hoseok step towards you with all the intent of playing along, when a gasp coming from your right stops you both.
"Did you come in here just to criticize?"
Of course it's Joanna.
"Wha- no. I was just teasing them. The dance looks grea-"
"I told you you were gonna distract them, and what did I say I was gonna do if you got them unfocused?"
"I didn't mean to, I was just giving pointers-"
"I've been teaching them for the last few weeks, I know what they need to focus on right now."
"But I know that it can look cleaner than it did right now."
"Well this is my choreography! I know what's best! You don't get to come in here and just start shitting on my work because what? You're jealous?! You think you're better than everyone else?!"
You're taken aback when Joanna starts to scream at you, so much so that you try to step back, completely forgetting that one of your feet is injured.
As you place your foot down, a soaring pain strikes from your foot all the way to your thigh. A sob escapes you and that's when Jin's protective nature kicks in full force.
In the blink of an eye, he's crouching next to you and picking you up while everyone else in the rooms stands frozen in place.
The ice is shattered when a wail comes from somewhere else in the room: it's Joanna.
Everyone's head whips to her direction, but for very different reasons.
Jin, for one, is beyond disbelief that she'd go as low as fake crying to get the attention back on her.
The rest of the guys seemed concerned, but not because of her. Rather because they just saw her true colors, how Jin was right, how they'd neglected you.
Seokjin picks you up and rushes out the door, leaving everyone else in the room frozen.
•••
You don't really process anything that happens afterwards. You just know Seokjin is with you as you go to the doctor to get your foot checked out, and that's enough to push you into a state where you know you can space out.
You couldn't comprehend it, how you were hurt and the rest of them weren't there.
Did they even care you were hurt?
It didn't make sense, that you were asking yourself this. When had things gotten this bad? How could they have let thing get this bad? It left you aching more than your injury, and you think that shouldn't even be possible.
When you get home, you find all the boys kitchen, a mess everywhere -much to Jin's despair- attempting to decorate what you assume is a cake. They're all focused to the point where they didn't hear you come in, and if they did, they're really good at acting like they didn't. You want to hide in your room, maybe ask Jin to hide with you, play into their ignorance, but the petty part in you is much quicker.
"Joanna doesn't like cake."
You speak without thinking about it first, and it's clear that none of them were expecting a comment like that, not even Jin, because their heads whip around instantly to you.
You panic for a little, thinking they'll get mad, but Hoseok and Yoongi start laughing at Namjoon's terrified face, at the maknae line looking like they're deer in headlights, and at Jin's round eyes.
Before you know it, They're all running up to you, and Seokjin has to grab you by the waist to make sure they don't knock you over.
They all speak at once, and you can only make out some things like "are you okay? what did the doctor say? im sorry." What cuts through all the rambling is Namjoon's smooth voice, sounding a bit exasperated as he speaks: "The cake is for you Y/N. We were making the cake for you."
Oh.
"Joon! You ruined the surprise!" Jimin stomps his feet, but you know he's not actually upset.
"Well we couldn't just let her think that we were baking a cake for fuckin Joanna!" Namjoon defends himself.
Yoongi steps in front of the two and turns to you, "It was supposed to be a 'Surprise / I'm sorry / We love you / Get well soon' cake but you got here before we finished."
His genuinely dejected demeanor makes you giggle, he looks like a sad cat.
"It's okay-"
"No it's not. Cake or not, we're all really sorry- hold on, we should sit down for this." Jungkook grabs your hand and leads you to the couch, the rest following suit.
You all sit in silence for a second before Hoseok speaks up:
"Well I guess I'll start." He sits up a little straighter so he's facing you directly, and you feel nerves run through you: was he upset? Was he going to scold you?
The guys seem to notice how you tense up, because Hoseok's face falls a into a small frown, while Jungkook scoots closer to you and Jin places a hand on your thigh.
"Y/N, I am so so sorry for the way we've been acting, and the way we haven't been acting. You got hurt under our watch, we should be the ones taking care of you, no questions asked, and we've failed to do that. There's really no excuse for how inattentive we've been. In our heads, or at least my head, I didn't really see you all day, so I thought that everything was okay because I still got to wake up to you, I still got to come home and feel comfortable knowing that you were here: we had your company. But I failed to return that company, we all failed to give you the bare minimum, and I truly am so sorry."
For the time you've know Hoseok, you've only seen him cry once or twice, so when you see tears start to fall from his eyes, it shakes you up and down. Before you can go console him, Jimin speaks up from where he sits beside Hoseok.
"Hobi's right, Y/N. We didn't pay you enough attention. We were too worried about ourselves to consider how our actions looked to you. The whole thing with Joanna, we did spend a lot of time with her, but even then, all we did was talk about you. Not in a bad way, obviously, but you just always came up in conversation. I don't know why I thought that talking about you would translate as 'we're still giving you our attention' as if you could read our thoughts or something. But again, we were selfish and careless, and I can't apologize enough for how we acted."
You appreciate Jimin's attempt at lightening up the mood, and you appreciate his words overall.
The next hour goes by in the same manner. The boys apologize one by one, not to just you, but to Seokjin as well, and before you know it, there's no one in the room that isn't crying, all of you a teary and snotty mess.
"We love you so much, Y/N. Please let us make it up to you. I love you so much." Yoongi's the last one to speak, and he finishes while walking up to you and bowing at your feet.
The rest of the guys join him, even Seokjin, and you don't know what else to do except throw yourself on the floor with all of them and cry.
The night ends with all of you cuddled up on the floor, until Namjoon and Jin make you all get up so you could go lay down properly.
They guys don't let you walk, no, Jungkook carries you while Taehyung and Jimin squish at his side in an attempt to stay close to you.
You all manage to squeeze into a single bed with you in the middle, hands everywhere trying to keep you close.
You feel warmer than you have in weeks, and meanwhile the guys do have a lot to make up for, with arms wrapped around you and sweet nothings floating in the room, you think this is a great start.

None of it makes sense. Or at least, you refuse to let it make any sense.
Suddenly, the medications in your drawer look more like poison to you, as you anxiously unlock your phone to search up the name of it online. But the moment you do, you accidentally accept Jungkook's call- who's unaware of the panic you're in right now. "I was wondering where you were. You're not ghosting me right now, are you?" He laughs, jokes, but you can't really see any fun in it right now.
"I'll- Jungkook can I call you back later?" You say, trying to sound normal- but you don't, because Jungkook's now serious tone gives away the fact that he knows something's up.
"Everything okay?" He worries. "You sound upset." The alpha wolf states, and you sigh, running a hand over our face.
"Yeah- yeah!" You force out. "I'm good, just, a little sick. That's all." You stutter out, staring at the now opened letters from your mother and the final notice you got today.
"I'm sorry but I'm not buying that at all." He sighs on the other end of the line. "Do you need anything? Even just some company?" He asks, offers, and you're not sure about that. "I can just stay on the phone, too. Don't have to come over or anything-" He rambles, when you swallow thickly, cutting him off.
"Do.." You start, before you summon all of your strength to speak it out loud. "…Do you know a medication called Amatropin O-plus?" You ask, and he's quiet for a moment, before he answers you.
"I know of Amatropin A-plus. It's.. a prescription medication used to control instincts in prime-Alphas." He explains, and you put your phone down at that, putting your face into your hands. "Why are you asking?" He presses, saying your name after to gain your attention back.
"What the fuck.." You breathe out. "I'm gonna lose my job- my whole life-" You rant, deadline for your IC-evaluation test staring back at you, before you grab your phone. "How do I get out of an IC test." You demand to know, voice quivering.
"What are you talking about?" Jungkook asks. "An IC-evaluation is mandatory, you can't just get out of one. But why are you even-" He suddenly stops. "…I knew it." He suddenly says.
"Knew what?" You bark. "Knew what?! Has everyone been lying to me now?" You break, as Jungkook's voice is heard again.
"Can you let me in?" He asks, and you're not sure what he's talking about- when a knock is heard on your door. and as you open is, he's right there, ending the call before he slips his phone back into his pant pocket. And you're not sure why exactly you do it- probably some weird wolf-shit that you just don't understand yet, but you just open the door fully, and let him hug you for a good little while.
"What do I do now.." You whine, while he closes the door behind you, and wraps both of his arms back around you.
"We'll figure it out." He reassures. "Can you show me the notice?" He asks, and you part from him and sniffle, collecting yourself a little to walk him into your bedroom, where the floor is littered with ripped open envelopes, handwritten letters, and lastly- the notice, right next to your opened box of medication. You sit down in the mess, and he himself takes his place right next to you, taking the official notice for himself to read over it. "It's a final notice. Where are the other two?" He asks, and you shrug.
"Probably having been sent to my mother." You say, defeated. "God my whole life is over." You complain, face in your hands.
Jungkook doesn't want to pry, but as he reads some parts of the handwritten letters, he begins to put one and one together. It's not unusual- especially with omegas, situations like this happen more often than not, really. Parents hiding their daughters and sons either out of shame or fear- and in this situation in particular, he doesn't know which one it might be.
Some parents are ashamed due to the stigma russounding omegas. Others are afraid because of how they're treated, and how often they're the victims of crimes.
"She knew. She.. must've known that they'd send me this, right?" You ask, and Jungkook shrugs, trying to contain his own instincts right now. You've probably not taken your medication since yesterday now, because your smell is now a lot more present than he's used to.
"Absolutely." He agrees. "She probably didn't react to them either, which is why they searched for your personal address now for the final notice." Jungkook explains. "You can explain to them what your situation is though. I'm sure they can offer you more time to prepare."
"But I've been technically living alone in the city illegally, right?" You worry. "I've been working illegally- oh god what if I go to prison.." You whine, and he runs a hand over your back in comfort.
"You didn't know." He tells you softly. "I'll help you with things, okay?" He offers, and you nod, trying hard to calm down now. "And I'm sure you have a place with Namjoon and the pack too, if they really deem your score turns out too low to stay here." The wolf comforts.
"She's not even my actual mother." You mumble quietly, staring at the letters with an empty gaze. "She knew all along what I was, but she didn't want me like that. She just.. kept me because she promised my dad to take care of me."
Jungkook feels for you. Omegas aren't seen very fondly, especially not by humans- simply brushed off as sex-hungry beasts who can't even take care of themselves properly without a pack or alpha around or a dick inside them. Which is entirely untrue- but years of written fantasy novels and the misuse of them in online erotica and porn in general has given them a stigma they can't shed. Just like alphas are said to be violent creatures with no sense of control, Omegas are just filled with lust and nothing else.
He's upset at that. You don't deserve to be forced into a situation like this- no one does.
"But that's the past now." He tells you. "I very much want you just the way you are. And I promise you, the rest of the pack won't mind you either." He explains, and you nod.
"Jungkook?" You ask, and he hums a reply, before you lean into him, clinging onto his warm body. "Thank you." You mumble, and he can't help but smile.
"No problem."

"Not surprised." Yoongi says as he finishes his food. "She might've been able to fool other humans, but not other wolves." He says, while Jimin sighs.
"Poor thing." He sympathizes with you. "I remember my mom went through the same thing. She was so glad when I turned out to be a Beta." He remembers, and Jungkook nods.
"I'm going to try and push the evaluation date back as much as I can today." Jungkook explains. "There's no way she can just be evaluated in two weeks, when she's never even had enough time to prepare. It wouldn't be fair at all.." The alpha wolf complains.
"It's never unfair to them in any case." Namjoon worries to himself. "I still can't believe that they're still seen as something to be ashamed of. I mean, that's her mother we're talking about." He shakes his head. He doesn't know the full situation yet, and Jungkook also doesn't want to involve them too much until you yourself want to.
"I'm more concerned about her safety." Yoongi argues. "Is she taking her suppressants?" He asks Jungkook, who shakes his head.
"She's scared of them now. Refuses them." He explains.
"So you left her?" The alpha growls. "You left an omega alone, who's never even experienced her own Instincts without any control before, and is under added pressure of her entire life basically falling apart?" He scolds angrily, causing Jungkook to shrink in on himself.
Yoongi can be quite intimidating.
"Yoongi has a point." Namjoon offers a lot more kindly. "I'd suggest you either stay with her, or even better bring her here so she's in a safer environment while she adapts to things." He suggests.
"I can ask her if she wants that." Jungkook nods, before he gets up. "If not, I'll stay with her instead." He mostly tells himself, leaving the packhouse.
"Do you think that's a good idea?" Hoseok wonders. "I mean.. we all noticed it.. right? Will he be okay alone with her?" He asks, and everyone grows a bit more quiet.
Because you're not just any kind of omega.
And everyone worries about the added challenges you might face because of that.
⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ⋅ ⋅
"Maybe you should ask about a lower dosage before you just quit them like that-" Jungkook tries, watching you struggle with your clear headache next to him on the couch.
You shake it softly. "No, I don't have time for that." You deny. "I've got too much.. paperwork to fill out and all.." You complain, raising your head to look at all the unopened and opened letters on the table, stacks of paperwork ready to be read and filled out with your personal info as soon as you want to.
Or can, in your case.
"You do have time." He gently argues. "Half a year, remember? Six months to prepare, and these documents don't need to be signed for another three weeks." He attempts to explain to you. "Please think about your health first. Quitting medication you've been on for years just like that isn't a good idea." The alpha urges, and you sigh.
"I don't want them." You argue however. He knows it just has to be overwhelming- if not just mentally, then physically as well. Your body is entirely confused and out of balance now that the usual hormones and other ingredients of your medication aren't present any longer. And yet, you refuse to see anyone for it, and he doesn't know why
Is it shame? Embarrassment? And if so, what does that say about what you think of him?
But he swallows that down, or at least tries to, when you furrow your brows in confusion, suddenly looking around, before your eyes find him. He looks at you in question, when you stare into your kitchen in alarm, getting up to check- but on your way, you already stop, because no, that smell is not coming from there at all.
One look back just offers you Jungkook sitting still on your couch, confused as ever.
"I.. you.. smell that too, right?" You ask, and his golden eyes are unsure.
"I don't really know what you mean." He asks. "What exactly do you mean?"
"Something.. burning. I don't know. It smells like.. I'm not sure, like plastic burning almost." You cringe, and at that, his face softens.
"I'm sorry. That's.. probably me." He chuckles a bit as you walk back towards him to sit down once more. "Your senses are probably.. I guess returning as they're supposed to be." He offers.
"But- my meds are only for instincts-" You start, when he shakes his head.
"No, they're used to prevent sensory overload." He explains. "That's a bit different. It's to basically shut down all the things that make us.. well, different. Our instincts get shut up, our senses become dull, and in turn, our own scents and stuff become almost unnoticeable too because our bodies dont produce the same hormones and stuff." He shrugs. "Which is why I'm trying to tell you you shouldn't just cut them off like that. It'll be incredibly hard to go through that." Jungkook offers.
You feel horrible for him.
For years you believed all the stories told, never actually thinking about what he or any of his kind must be going through. He probably deals with all of this daily but knows how to handle it- and from what you read online, his instincts are even stronger than most.
Which is another thing you want to know more about.
"Jungkook.. what does 'prime' mean?" You ask. "It's.. like, it's in front of your sub-gender, and on the evaluation invite it said the same for mine." You wonder with a good amount of worry.
"That's something for another time." He offers, while you wince from the pain in your head as you move it too quickly to follow him with your gaze as he walks towards the kitchen. "For now, lets settle with some simple human meds for your headache, and then we'll visit a specialist, okay?" He questions, squatting down where you sit on the couch with a glass of water and some regular headache pills.
"...you don't have to go everywhere with me, you know." You mumble, reluctantly taking the items from him- mostly because your headache is getting unbearable at this point.
"I can ask someone else from the pack then- but you shouldn't be out in this state by yourself." He sighs, before he takes his place sitting next to you again.
"Why not?" You whine, after taking the pills and eagerly chugging the cold water down. Somehow, you feel thirsty.
"Because.. You're pretty much a walking target right now." He sighs. "Wolves might not be what they always say but they're still.. some have the potential to be dangerous, let's just say it like that." He offers. "Your scent alone.. is like a drug to alphas especially." He says.
You watch him for a moment.
"Even for you?" You ask, and he shrugs- and only now do you notice the sweat on his hairline.
"Even for me." He nods, before he smiles. "But I've got good self control, so no need to worry." He tries to joke- but you don't find it funny at all.
"I'm sorry." You shake your head, staring into the kitchen where the medications lay. "I.. didn't think about how this could affect you at all.." you apologize, but he just shrugs it off. "No- it's not fair on you at all. You're being nothing but nice to me and I'm acting like a child basically.."
"Your whole life got turned around. I don't blame you for anything." He just shakes it off, and it doesn't make the weight on your soul feel any lighter.
"Jungkook.." you ask quietly, and he leans a bit closer to hear you better. "Can we... still be friends now? Even though I'm.. an omega and all?" You worry.
And Jungkook just laughs.
"Of course we can."

if iseul ever got a bf what would oc and jk’s reaction be?
"Who the fuck is that?" Jungkook, your husband, nudges you and points to his phone. The security camera app opens up on his phone, showing Iseul and a guy. Iseul giggles at something he said as she runs a hand through her hair.
“She looks a little too happy for my liking,” Jungkook's jaw clenches, making you giggle.
“They’re so cute, oh my god,” you coo at your daughter giggling at the unknown guy in her cute skirt and hoodie.
“Are those flowers?” You point to the small screen, trying to make out what Iseul is holding in her hands.
“It’s a bouquet, oh no,” Jungkook gasps, looking around as you try so hard to not burst out laughing.
“Oh shit,” you let out as your jaw drops to the ground, your husband copying your actions as you both stare into the footage. Iseul tiptoes, hands around the unknown boy's shoulder, kissing him. Before you know it, Jungkook is turning off his phone, losing his mind.
“Aww, my baby is all grown up,” you place a hand over your heart as your husband gives you a confused look. Before you could ask what’s the look for, the main door opens and closes. Iseul walks into the living room with a goofy smile, a faint blush on her cheeks, and a big bouquet of flowers.
“Hi,” Iseul smiles as Jungkook stares down at the flowers. “Who gave you that?” Jungkook wasted no time making you roll your eyes, letting out a sigh as Iseul stares down at her Air Forces.
“My boyfriend, his name is Luka,” Iseul giggles, playing with the flower petals as she makes her way to you, handing you the flowers to see.
"Boyfriend?" Jungkook chokes on his spit, his eyes almost flying out of his eye sockets from how wide they got. “Since when!?” Jungkook rubs a hand through his face as Iseul drops beside you on the couch, putting her head on your shoulder.
“Since today,” Iseul laughs at her dad’s reaction. “Oh my god, he asked you out today?” You gasp, so happy for your only daughter.
“Yes ma, he took me to the park and we painted, we ate pizza, and then he asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend. It was so cute,” Iseul blushes as she hides her face into her hands, squirming on the couch, making you burst out laughing.
Your husband, all pouty with his hands crossed in front of him, has you nudging your head to your side aggressively for him to say something. He rolls his eyes with a sigh before dropping down on the couch beside Iseul, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her into a hug.
“You’re growing so fast, I’m actually going to cry right now,” Jungkook fake sniffs as Iseul laughs, hugging her dad back.
“I’m only sixteen, dad, you won’t get rid of me so easily. And no, I’m not going to get married and move out anytime soon, so don’t even ask,” Iseul jokes as Jungkook and you burst out laughing. Jungkook could never be mad at his girl, never, even if he tried he could never, but that never stopped him from one-upping his daughter’s boyfriend. Because no man in his daughter’s life could be better than him.
(And if I did a spin off series with all the bangtans kids, and their significant others— how they met and how they are with the family???)

With thanks to @vyduan for helping me work out the kinks (heh) in this story. Love you, Vy.
Author note: Written in response to an ask I got early in the year - a story I've kept chipping away at and now it's finally finished. Anon, I think about you often and I hope you and your kids are doing well. I hope you've had time to heal and no longer think of yourself as a heartbroken single mom, because you are and have always been more than that.
Your breath comes out in puffs of white as you carry an armful of logs to the furnace powering your greenhouse.
Inside, the air is humid, warm, perfect for the vegetables you’re carefully cultivating. Outside, the cold of a perennial winter’s seeped into your bones.
Nothing grows outside, not since the Great War.
You wonder why they call it ‘great’ when everything is worse now than it was before the war.
You’re emerging from the greenhouse, wiping your hands on a soiled rag, when you hear your new neighbour singing softly.
He’s got a melodious voice with a gorgeous husky tone. You smile to yourself as he sings a tune you know.
Suddenly he stops. ‘Oh shit!’
There’s a clatter of metal against worksurface, the unmistakeable sound of breakage.
You walk up to the wire fence and call out. ‘Need a hand?’
There’s another clatter, then the door to the greenhouse opens and you meet your new neighbour face to face for the first time.
He’s tall, broad shouldered, with a face that makes you wish you’d bothered to comb your hair before you stepped outside this morning.
‘I — uh— heard the noises and just thought I’d check if you were ok,’ you explain.
He rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. ‘Do you have a spare pot? I’ll get you a replacement today, but right now my chilli plant is all over my worktable.’
‘Oh,’ you say, quickly turning. You enter your own greenhouse and emerge with one of your own pots.
‘Here,’ you say, holding it out to him. Your fingertips brush as he takes the pot from you, and you hope you don’t look too flustered.
You say, waving a hand, ‘Don’t worry about a replacement.’
‘My chillies and I thank you,’ he says, so solemnly you laugh.
He smiles warmly at you, and dimples appear in his cheeks.
The juxtaposition of his large frame and his delicately pretty dimples is doing something odd to your fickle heart.
You clear your throat. ‘I’m Y/N,’ you say, suddenly feeling shy.
‘Namjoon,’ he replies.
You turn as your son Jiwon approaches, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
You pull off your coat and wrap it around him.
‘Come on, let’s go inside before you get too cold, ok?’
Jiwon, wrapped in your coat, looks curiously at Namjoon.
‘This is my son, Jiwon. Jiwon, this is our new neighbour Namjoon,’ you say.
You put your arm around Jiwon and lead him back to the house.
‘It was nice to meet you,’ you call over your shoulder.
When you look back, Namjoon’s still standing by the fence, looking at you.
He waves, once, then turns to go back inside.
***
Jiwon regards you over the porridge bowl you’ve made for his breakfast.
His eyes are serious, too serious considering he’s barely eight.
You wish there was a way to protect him from the world.
Instead you make sure he eats, and drinks, and wears his warm coat, because the world may be fucked up but your son isn’t going to go without, not on your watch anyway.
You wonder where Jiwon’s father is now but can’t muster up any emotion about it. The burning desire to watch him suffer faded long ago, leaving nothing in its place.
A blank where your perfect life used to be.
You clear away the plates and pull on your coat.
‘Ready?’
You walk Jiwon to the single room, little more than a shed, where the makeshift school now is, and as you kiss him goodbye and promise him you’ll pick him up later, you wonder whether things will ever change.
It’s been five years since nuclear warfare destroyed the world, four since Jiwon’s father left, and you’re still waiting for life to get better.
Lost in your thoughts, you nearly bump into a uniformed guard.
You bow and apologise profusely.
You can’t see any of the guards’ faces, but you know they make liberal use of their steel batons.
The pain of a physical beating, though, would pale in comparison to being detained by the intention readers.
You could recover from a beating, but not from being thoughtwiped.
You shiver and resolve to be more careful as you walk the rest of the way to the community gardenhouse to start your work.
***
You glance at your watch and pick up the pace. You’re late to pick up Jiwon. There had been a raid at the gardenhouse just before you were due to leave, and you and the other gardeners had been searched for contraband.
You arrive at the schoolhouse just in time to see Jiwon being questioned by a guard.
Your heart stops, and you hurry forward, already apologising to the three guards standing over your son.
He’s slight, small for his age, and he looks even smaller surrounded by guards.
You step in front of Jiwon, putting your arm out to keep him behind you.
‘I’m sorry,’ you say, bowing low.
The cold steel of a baton nudges under your chin, hard enough to lift your head.
Terror slices through you as the guard stares down at you, but you try your best to keep still.
The other guard says, ‘Hey, Jaebeom. The General wants us back. Let’s go.’
The baton stills, then the guard withdraws it and holsters it.
He turns away without another look at you.
You grasp Jiwon’s hand, and you don’t let go until you’re safely home.
***
The thin light of dawn’s cutting into the horizon when you emerge from your front door.
Snow’s been falling all night, is still falling now, piled up on your short garden path. You lift the shovel off the hook by your door and get to work clearing the path.
This early, the snow’s still icy and hard to shovel away.
You’re breathing hard by the time you get to the gate, arms aching, face damp with sweat.
Your neighbour Namjoon’s front gate swings open and he walks out, wrapped up warm.
He slows down when he sees you but doesn’t stop.
You give a small smile which he returns before walking off.
You watch him go and wonder what he does to be leaving so early.
You see Jiwon’s light come on and hurry inside to make breakfast.
***
There’s blood in the snow when you arrive back home with Jiwon at the end of the day, drops of red splattered in a trail to your neighbour’s door.
You herd Jiwon safely inside and your conscience gets the better of you.
You walk next door and knock.
It’s a while before Namjoon answers, but as soon as he does you know you’ve done the right thing coming over.
He looks terrible, pale and wincing in pain. There’s a wound in his shoulder, his chest is bare.
You say, ‘let me help,’ and then he’s stepping back, sitting heavily down on a chair.
He’s so tall you barely have to lean down to look at his shoulder.
‘Can you stitch?’ he asks, voice tight, body taut.
‘I’ll patch you up,’ you tell him.
You worked in a field hospital during the War.
Namjoon grits his teeth, pale and tense, whilst you patch his wound.
By the time you’ve dressed it, there’s a fine sheen of sweat on his forehead.
You don’t like how pale he is.
‘I have to get back to Jiwon,’ you tell him.
He nods.
Something about the way he slumps back in his seat, quiet and exhausted, makes you say, ‘I can stay overnight to watch you, if you have a spare bed for Jiwon to sleep in?’
Namjoon stares at you for so long you make the decision for him.
‘Come on, let me get you to bed,’ you say.
He staggers as he stands, and automatically you slip an arm around his waist.
He leans heavily on you as you take him to his bedroom and help him onto the bed.
He lays down, eyes already closed.
You wait until his breathing eases and then you go to get Jiwon.
By the time you get back, Jiwon in tow, Namjoon’s dead asleep.
You make Jiwon comfortable in the adjoining room, hoping Namjoon won’t mind, and set your alarm to check on him periodically.
He sleeps most of the night, waking up once to stumble to the bathroom.
You get up to check on him. ‘Are you all right, Namjoon?’
Thankfully your presence doesn’t seem to alarm him.
‘I’m fine,’ he says, but you can see the sheen of sweat across his forehead.
You fetch a glass of water and some pain meds from his kitchen. He’s still awake when you knock on his door.
He gulps the water and swallows down the medicine gratefully and lays back.
There’s something about the irregular rhythm of his breathing that makes you offer your hand.
‘The meds will kick in soon,’ you promise him. You squeeze his hand gently.
He murmurs a thank you. When his breathing evens out and the grip of his hand eases, you pull the blanket over his chest and make your way back to the other room where Jiwon is.
It’s sometime just before dawn when you wake. Namjoon’s extra bedroom has a pretty view of his backyard, his greenhouse. The rolling hills in the distance are bare in the winter cold, starkly beautiful.
For the first time in a long time, you wonder where Jiwon’s father is, how he’s doing. If he ever thinks of Jiwon, or you. Beside you, Jiwon stirs.
‘Mama?’
‘Yes, baby?’
‘I’m not a baby,’ Jiwon says indignantly.
‘Ssssh, you’ll wake Namjoon up. Are you hungry?’
Jiwon yawns a little. People have always said he doesn’t look like you or his dad, but in moments like this you can see yourself in him.
‘Come on. Let’s go home and I’ll make breakfast, ok?’
You check on Namjoon as you pass his room, only to find he’s already dressed.
He stands when he sees you, and you’re reminded of the height difference between you.
You step back. ‘Sorry, I just wanted to make sure —‘
As though he’s aware of how his height and size intimidate you, he stops where he is.
‘I want to thank you for looking after me last night,’ he says. ‘Will you have breakfast with me?’
Jiwon marvels so openly at the sugary cereal Namjoon produces from a cupboard you can’t help but smile.
Single parenthood in a post nuclear war world has been challenging, and you’re scared about how many E numbers it’s taken to produce a cereal this unnaturally bright, but Jiwon’s so excited it’s worth it.
Namjoon offers you some, and you accept with a smile. He smiles back at you so warmly that you drop your eyes.
Even injured and tired, your neighbour is the kind of handsome man you don’t think would look twice at you normally.
You cover your skittishness by staring down into your cereal as if fascinated.
By the time you gather the courage to look up, Jiwon’s finished his food.
You’re about to get up to take him home when Namjoon puts out a hand to stop you. ‘Finish your breakfast,’ he says quietly.
He gets up. ‘Come on, Jiwon, I hurt my shoulder yesterday, can you help me in the greenhouse until your mum finishes her food?’
Jiwon falls into step beside Namjoon so naturally you have no qualms about letting them go together. There’s a funny lump in your throat as you watch them walking together through the kitchen window.
You tell yourself sternly to keep it together and not to assign a romantic narrative to your handsome neighbour who’s clearly just repaying your kindness from yesterday.
By the time Namjoon and Jiwon get back, you’ve finished your breakfast and washed up. The kitchen looks like you and Jiwon were never there.
‘Thank you,’ Namjoon says. ‘For looking after me yesterday.’
‘It was no bother at all,’ you tell him, sincerely. ‘Thank you for breakfast.’
You nod to his chest. ‘You should get the wound checked out at the clinic today.’
‘I will,’ Namjoon promises. He waves goodbye to Jiwon and you, standing on his doorstep until you’ve rounded the fence to your side.
***
You’re walking with Jiwon back from school when you realise there’s someone waiting at your door. You can’t see clearly in the evening light, and you tuck Jiwon closer into your side as you approach.
You call a greeting, and a moment later the person steps into the light and you realise it’s Namjoon.
‘Hi,’ you say, unable to hide your relief.
‘Hi,’ he replies, ‘I didn’t mean to scare you. I was just by the river and I passed a cart selling these and I thought Jiwon might like them.’
He holds out a paper wrapped bundle of bungeoppang, still warm despite the cold.
Jiwon’s reached out, already thanking him, and you look up at Namjoon.
‘Thank you, that’s very kind of you, they’re his favourite.’
‘There’s enough for both of you,’ Namjoon says.
He’s stepping away, halfway down your yard when he stops.
‘Your gate lock’s broken,’ he says. ‘I can help you fix it if you want.’
‘Don’t trouble yourself,’ you say hastily. The lock’s been broken for a while, you’d meant to fix it but it’s been a busy month at the communal greenhouse.
‘It’s not safe,’ he says gently. ‘Not with both of you in the house.’
His words, though gently spoken, send a flush of shame through you.
He must think you’re such a mess, incapable of even keeping yourself and your son safe.
He doesn’t give you time to answer. ‘I have tools. I’ll come over tomorrow and fix it, ok?’
‘Thank you,’ you say. There’s a quiver in your voice, you hope he doesn’t know you well enough to hear it.
You open your door and usher Jiwon in from the cold.
***
You’re clearing your garden path the next morning, shovelling snow, when Namjoon comes to fix the gate.
He nods politely at you, then gets to work. He doesn’t seem to want to chat, particularly, but that’s fine with you as you’re out of breath from clearing the path anyway.
Namjoon disappears briefly once the lock’s fixed, comes back with a bag of grit over his shoulder.
‘Let me grit your path,’ he offers, and you let him as he’s already brought the damn stuff over.
You invite him in as you prepare Jiwon’s breakfast.
He sits at your table, looking big in your small kitchen but not out of place.
There’s a picture on the wall of you and Jiwon’s father, from the Christmas that Jiwon turned two.
You can see him looking at it as you pass him a mug.
Namjoon asks, ‘Is that Jiwon’s father?’
You look at the photo. In it, you’re holding Jiwon up, and Hiro, Jiwon’s father, is laid on the floor, tickling his feet. There are the trappings of what Christmas was like before the war scattered all around you.
Luxuries that weren’t until everything else was taken away.
‘Yes,’ you say. You lean against the kitchen sink, hold up your own mug. ‘He left after the war.’
‘I’m sorry.’
He looks like he means it.
‘It’s ok,’ you tell him, honestly. ‘We’re doing ok, and Jiwon doesn’t remember much of him.’
There’s a moment of silence, then you hear Jiwon’s footsteps coming down the stairs.
He greets Namjoon with a total lack of surprise at seeing him at the breakfast table. You’re amused at the nonchalant way Jiwon greets Namjoon, and then you realise it might be because of Namjoon’s calm, gentle manner.
For all his size, you find it difficult to envision Namjoon ever hurting anyone or anything.
***
The guards come for you a few weeks later, late at night when Jiwon’s asleep. You’re putting away the washing up when there’s a knocking at the door.
Impatient, demanding.
You crack the door open only to have to step back quickly as the door is pushed inward, towards you.
The two guards who enter have epaulets on their shoulders signifying them as of a low rank.
Any rank can detain a civilian for thoughtwiping, though.
The chill in your spine is only partially environmental.
‘Are you the wife of Hiro Kwon?’
You keep your tone calm, steady. ‘We’re estranged. I haven’t seen him in years.’
‘We have reason to believe he stole a very important pre-war relic from General Dei.’
You know where this is going.
‘My son is sleeping upstairs, can I take him into the greenhouse whilst you search my house?’
The guard closest to you gives you a hard stare.
‘He has nightmares,’ you say, pleading.
You fetch Jiwon, get him dressed and take him outside whilst the guards search your house. He leans against you, quiet. You hate that events like this are a part of his life.
Next door, Namjoon’s light is on.
When the guards come out to tell you that you can re-enter your own house, you hear Namjoon’s door opening.
He walks up to the fence, and your heart stops.
He’s wearing full guard uniform, with epaulets that show he outranks the guards questioning you.
Sweet, gentle Namjoon from next door is a high-ranking official in the guard.
And you? You’re the biggest fool alive.
He’s looking at you and Jiwon, face impassive, a muscle in his jaw ticking as he takes you in.
Beside you, Jiwon’s shivering, and automatically, you slip your coat off to wrap around him.
You turn back to the guards. You’re still struggling with the weight of recent revelations but you need to get Jiwon back inside.
‘May we go?’
The guard stops you, drawing his baton, and you freeze.
‘He can go. We have more questions for you.’
You can’t look at Namjoon.
‘Of course. Let me take him up to bed and I’ll answer any questions you have.’
The walk back downstairs after you put Jiwon to bed feels like your feet are too heavy for your body.
You cast an eye at the mirror in your hallway. Your expression is a perfect blank, unreadable. You already know the lengths you’ll go to, to keep Jiwon safe.
The questions start innocently enough.
When did you last see your husband?
When did he last try to contact you?
You’re asked differently worded versions of the same questions repeatedly.
Your answers get shorter as the questioning goes on, and then the baton comes out even though you haven’t moved.
It raps on the table next to your hand, and you can’t help it, you startle badly at the sound.
There’s a knock at the door, then.
You look to the guards, and the younger one gets up to answer.
He returns with Namjoon.
Namjoon’s face is impassive. He gives you a once over, then nods to the two guards.
‘Leave us, I’ll handle this.’
The tension in the room ramps up as the guards leave, and by the time the door closes behind them, it’s taking all your strength to stay still.
Namjoon, as though sensing your turmoil, takes a step back, away from you.
His voice is low, quiet, but you have no difficulty hearing him.
‘Did they hurt you?’ he asks.
You look up at him, trying to read his expression. ‘No, they didn’t,’ you answer.
He lets out a breath that sounds relieved.
‘Have you heard from your husband?’ he asks.
‘I told you, we’re estranged,’ you reply.
You can hear Jiwon moving upstairs. You turn back to Namjoon.
‘Can I go to him? I’ll come back down, I just want to make sure he’s ok —-‘
Namjoon’s expression changes. He looks stunned.
‘Of course, I wouldn’t stop you.’
When you come back down Namjoon’s still standing where you left him.
‘It’s late, you should go to bed,’ he says. His eyes search yours.
You look back at him, at the epaulets adorning his broad shoulders.
He must have earned them somehow.
The thought makes you avert your eyes, set your chin.
‘I will,’ you say, neutral, cool.
Namjoon waits like he’s got more to say, but when you look up, he’s headed to your kitchen door, letting himself out.
You lock the door behind him and breathe out, fully, for the first time in hours.
***
You wake the next morning to sounds outside your window.
There’s a man in your garden, and you’d be alarmed if Jiwon didn’t have a similar profile.
It’s Hiro.
You open the back door and gesture him in.
He looks older, thinner, but he still has the spark in his eye that drew you to him. You’re surprised to find you don’t feel anything about his sudden appearance apart from the faintest pleasure of seeing someone who was once dear to you.
You moved on out of necessity, and there’s no going back.
‘The guards are looking for you,’ you say, once you’ve made him a drink.
‘I know,’ he says. ‘I need somewhere to stay. Do you have any money?’
‘Not much,’ you tell him. ‘I can spare some.’
Hiro touches your hand, on the table in between you, and you pull back, startled.
You get up, gather the banknotes you’ve saved, and give him what you can.
‘Can I see him?’ Hiro asks.
You don’t have it in your heart to say no. ‘Don’t wake him.’
You take him upstairs to Jiwon’s room, let him peer through the crack in the door.
When Hiro turns back to you, there are tears in his eyes.
You have nothing left to say.
***
The raid on the communal greenhouse today was unexpected, and you weren’t quite quick enough to get out of the way of a wayward baton strike.
Your wrist throbs dully, your fingers are swollen, and the painkillers you dry-swallowed are only just about taking the edge off.
You’ve sent Jiwon to bed and are trying to dislodge the sack of fertiliser from the top shelf of your greenhouse one-handed, panting at the effort, when Namjoon’s porch light comes on.
Startled, you lose your balance and fall off the crate you’re balancing on, just about managing to protect your wrist as you land.
The noise you’ve made draws Namjoon to the fence.
Thankfully, he’s not wearing his guard uniform.
When he sees you on the ground he disappears, appearing a moment later on your side of the fence, breathing hard from rushing over.
‘Are you ok?’ he asks, helping you up.
You’re about to answer when his face darkens. ‘What happened to your hand?’
Your hiss of pain when he reaches for you makes him flinch.
‘Here,’ he says.
He cups a hand under your elbow gently, helping you back into your kitchen.
He frowns even more when he sees how swollen your wrist is.
‘We need to get you to a clinic,’ he says.
‘I can’t leave Jiwon, I’ll go in the morning,’ you tell him.
‘You can’t leave this overnight,’ Namjoon insists.
He runs a hand over his face. ‘I’ll call my friend.’
‘I’m fine —‘
‘You aren’t,’ Namjoon says, the shortest he’s ever been with you. ‘I have a friend who’s a nurse, I’ll call him.’
You sit quietly in your kitchen as he makes the call.
‘Jimin will be here soon,’ he tells you when he returns.
You’re too on edge to ask about Jimin.
You want to tell him that you’re fine, but when you open your mouth, you say, ‘Hiro, my ex husband, came here yesterday asking for money.’
Namjoon considers this in silence.
‘If the guards find out —-‘
‘I’m sure as hell not going to tell them,’ Namjoon says, sharp. ‘And neither should you.’
‘You’re a guard,’ you point out.
‘And you told me because you know I’m not like them,’ Namjoon says. His voice is neutral, without inflection.
‘I told you because I don’t want you to get into trouble because of your association with me. Especially after they came looking for Hiro,’ you argue.
You get up. ‘And yes, because you aren’t like them.’
As soon as you say the words you realise they’re true.
On some level you know, from the sides of him he’s shown to you, that Namjoon isn’t like the guards you’ve seen.
Namjoon rubs his eyes. He looks tired.
‘My father was a commander in the first generation of guards,’ he tells you. There’s a note of bitterness in his voice. ‘That didn’t save me from being thoughtwiped.’
You stare at him in shock.
‘I have all the right decorations,’ Namjoon continues, gesturing to his shoulders.
He meets your gaze. ‘I can’t excuse the things I’ve done in the past to earn them. I was young, eager to please my father, eager to keep my mother safe, and there’s nothing safer than being a guard.’
There’s bitterness in his voice now.
‘I had my limit though, as warped as I was, and I protested against an order I was commanded to carry out.’ He pauses. ‘I couldn’t do it.’
‘Your past is a fog once you’ve been thoughtwiped, but it comes back slowly, in flashes. Like a puzzle that’s incomplete.’
You’re so caught up in Namjoon’s story you’ve forgotten about the pain in your wrist.
‘This isn’t about me but I told you this because I want you to trust me,’ Namjoon says. He touches your arm, gentle. ‘There’s no threat to you, from me.’
You believe him.
You’re about to say so when there’s a knock at your door.
Namjoon gets up and returns with a man with kind eyes who introduces himself as Jimin.
He tends to your wrist with a gentleness that almost brings you to tears, binding it and placing it in a brace that eases the pain a little.
‘It’s probably broken,’ Jimin tells you, ‘but this is the best I can do until you can get to the clinic.’
You thank him gratefully.
‘Namjoon says you have a son. If you bring him to my clinic I’ll do a health check for free,’ Jimin offers.
You can’t thank him enough for his kindness.
After he leaves, Namjoon says, ‘Do you have a spare room? Or I can sleep on the couch.’
You stare at him, overwhelmed. ‘I don’t have a spare room —-‘
‘The couch it is,’ Namjoon says.
‘You don’t have to —‘
‘You did it for me when I was injured,’ Namjoon points out. He dimples at you. ‘Don’t let me miss my chance to play nursemaid….’
You can’t imagine anyone who looks less like a nursemaid than your tall, broad, handsome neighbour.
‘You can take my bed,’ you offer.
There’s a beat of silence, and you realise how it must have sounded to him.
Oh no.
You splutter in your haste to explain. ‘Oh my god, I meant you can take my bed, for you, alone. I can take the couch.’
Namjoon looks like he’s holding back a smile.
‘I’ll take the couch,’ he says, very gently. ‘Now you should go to bed, you look very tired.’
You take yourself off to bed before your mouth betrays you again.
***
You wake to familiar scraping outside. You get up, hissing at the dull flare of pain in your injured wrist, and head for your bedroom window.
It’s Namjoon, clearing your garden path. He pauses to wipe a hand over his forehead, breath coming out in white puffs.
You pull on a robe and head down to the kitchen, open the back door.
‘Hey,’ you call.
He turns immediately, face creasing in concern. ‘How’s your wrist?’
‘Still broken,’ you say cheerfully.
A dimple flashes in his cheek.
‘Go sit down, I’ll finish this and make us breakfast.’
Despite Namjoon’s instructions, you start on breakfast anyway, you’re used to looking after you and Jiwon.
‘I’ll walk Jiwon to school so you can go straight to the clinic,’ Namjoon says.
You look at Jiwon.
Jiwon’s bright smile is all the answer you need.
***
You wake in the dead of night, heart thumping, blood rushing in your ears.
You’re up and out of bed before you’re fully awake, hand on Jiwon’s door, when you hear it again.
The same noise that woke you up.
The creak of your front gate.
You hear footsteps to your front door, then the knocking starts.
You wake Jiwon, wrap him in his coat, wishing you’d remembered your own.
‘Open the door, by the order of the guard,’ shouts a male voice, making you stumble in fear, making your adrenaline surge.
You glimpse the grandfather clock on your landing as you hurry through to the kitchen with Jiwon.
It’s 2am.
You doubt this is a routine interrogation.
It feels more like a raid.
You grab Jiwon’s face, make him look at you.
‘If we get separated, run through the gate and into Namjoon’s greenhouse. Don’t wait for me.’
Your voice is calm, your eyes serious, and Jiwon, with the wisdom of a much older child, nods.
You pull his coat closed, and take a breath, gathering your wits about you before you pull open the back door.
There’s no one there. The guards are still at the front of the house.
You hold Jiwon’s hand, tight, and step into the night.
***
You make it into Namjoon’s greenhouse just as your kitchen lights come on.
Your heart pounds like drums in your chest, insistent, so loud you’re worried anyone within a half mile could hear it.
You tuck Jiwon into a corner between sacks of fertiliser, stacked up, and listen intently.
There’s shouting, the sounds of doors slamming.
You hope it’s snowing hard enough to cover the tracks you and Jiwon made.
There’s nothing you can do about it now.
You wait, Jiwon tucked as far back as you could put him, hands gripping the shovel you grabbed from the back of the door.
Beams of light bounce over the glass wall, freezing you into position. You close your eyes.
The door creaks open, and you stop breathing.
Steps, then in your terror it takes you a while to recognise Namjoon’s face.
Your eyes meet.
Namjoon holds up a hand, the barest of movements, then he shouts, loud and clear, ‘They’re not in here.’
Your heart pumps, and you start to breathe again.
***
It’s hours before Namjoon returns to the greenhouse, face drawn and tired.
He says, ‘We need to go.’
‘Where?’ you ask, when you’re really thinking, ‘We?’
‘I’ll tell you on the way.’
Namjoon scoops Jiwon into his arms like he weighs nothing, and you follow.
Your limbs are stiff from the cold and the tension of waiting to be caught, but you make them bend to your will, keeping up with Namjoon’s longer strides.
‘I’ve got a car, a mile from here, can you walk?’ Namjoon asks, terse.
You notice the backpack he has slung onto his shoulders.
‘I can carry something,’ you say, ‘Give me the pack.’
Namjoon’s tense expression softens, just enough to be perceived, as he glances at you.
‘Keep pace with me,’ he says.
It takes you a quarter of an hour to reach the car, parked alongside a warehouse.
Namjoon places Jiwon in the backseat, tucks a blanket over him, unlocks the trunk to place the backpack inside.
You climb into the front passenger seat, watch as he starts the engine. His hand curls around the gear shaft, and you put your hand over his.
‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ you ask.
There’s no going back from this. It’s one thing to not report you to the Guard, it’s completely another to help you get away.
Namjoon looks at your hand on his for a moment.
‘I haven’t felt this strongly about anything in a while,’ he says.
He looks up at you. ‘This is the only right thing I’ve done in a long time.’
He puts his other hand on top of yours briefly, then pulls away to start the engine.
He drives.
***
Dawn’s breaking by the time you reach your destination, a cabin deep in the mountains that you access via a narrow road buffeted with snow drifts.
Namjoon cuts the engine, sits back, rubbing the back of his neck. He looks tired.
‘Are you ok?’ you ask, tentative.
‘Better now,’ he says, some of the tension leaving his expression. ‘Better now that we’re here.’
Jiwon’s stirring now that you’ve stopped, looking at you and Namjoon with a quiet resignation.
You hate that he’s grown to accept his world constantly being turned upside down as his due.
Namjoon turns back to look at him, a dimple popping in his cheek as he smiles.
‘Hey, are you hungry, Jiwon? I have some cereal in the cabin.’
Your heart teeters at Namjoon’s easy kindness towards your son, about to fall.
You’re about to fall for this man who you owe so much to, fool that you are.
You put your hand on Namjoon’s arm, eyes alight with gratitude. ‘Thank you,’ you tell him.
Namjoon glances at you, hesitates.
‘You don’t have to thank me,’ he tells you. ‘I — I wanted to help.’
You think about his words as you help Jiwon out of the car and you head for the cabin together.
***
Jiwon’s asleep, you make sure he’s tucked in warm before you go into the main part of the cabin.
Namjoon’s standing by the window, his large frame taking up almost all of it, face tilted up, like he’s looking at the sky.
He turns when he sees you.
‘I’m sorry,’ he says. ‘I’ll get the generator working tomorrow.’
There’s a fire in the hearth, not quite enough to light up the whole cabin but it’s warm enough.
‘Don’t apologise,’ you tell him.
You can’t see all of his face in the shadows, so you step forward.
‘Jiwon and I wouldn’t be safe, here, if it weren’t for you.’
‘It was a woman and her son,’ he says, a change of subject so abrupt he’s lost you for a second before he continues.
‘They wanted me to thoughtwipe her because of something her son did. Something stupid, meaningless.’
He turns to look out the window again. ‘I refused.’
‘That’s when they thoughtwiped you,’ you say. It’s not a question.
He laughs, short, harsh. ‘And then they thoughtwiped her anyway. Last I heard she and her son were separated, sent to different sectors.’
You step forward again, wanting to see his face.
‘You’re a good man, Namjoon,’ you tell him. ‘You can’t be responsible for everything.’
‘I should have done more,’ he says, flat.
‘You’ve done a lot for us,’ you point out.
You still can’t see his face, but you can see the sadness in the line of his shoulders, poignant and beautiful.
You take another step forward, cup his cheek. His skin’s warm, and there’s the faintest pressure against your palm as he leans into your touch.
You shiver a little, more from the feel of him than from the cold, but he’s quick to react, slipping the fleece off his broad shoulders and placing it over yours.
For a moment his arms are around you, and you’re within a breath of turning away, would have turned away if you hadn’t felt the shift in his weight.
He’s leaning on you.
You curl your hand around his neck, and he leans down with the faintest pressure from your fingertips.
A thrill races through you as his lips brush yours, blooming into a pulse, heady and throbbing as you tilt your head to kiss him again.
He’s slow, so gentle it takes you a while to realise that his kisses are robbing you of your breath.
The tip of his tongue flicks at the seam of your lips, a question you answer by parting them.
Letting him in.
His hand travels down your side to land on your hip, tentative.
Another question.
This time you slide your arms around his waist, under his top. The warm skin of his back is smooth under your hands.
He grunts softly as you pull him closer, comes willingly.
He kisses you again, firmer this time, and you melt into him.
Gradually, in stages, closer and closer until you’re so close you don’t know where he ends and you begin.
He cups the back of your head, pulls away just enough to say, ‘The couch.’
You follow him to the couch, and he tilts his head for another kiss.
You put a hand flat on his chest to steady yourself, and he puts his own hand over yours, covering it completely, anchoring you to him.
‘I haven’t done this in a while,’ you tell him.
‘Me either,’ he says.
His dimple flashes. ‘We can remind each other.’
Namjoon’s a patient man, you knew this about him already.
You hadn’t expected him to be quite this patient though, not pushing you even though you can feel how hard he is under you.
‘Do you want to keep going?’ you ask.
‘So badly,’ he tells you, huffing out a breath, tilting his head back. His throat bobs as he swallows, hard.
You lick a stripe along his neck, and he shivers, gripping your shoulder.
‘Do it again,’ he says, voice dropped low. ‘Can I touch you?’
‘Please,’ you say, and to your delight, his hands drop to the front lapels of your (his) shirt.
‘You look good in my clothes,’ he murmurs. He kisses down your chest, slow, open-mouthed, and by the time he gets to your breasts you’re vibrating with need.
He takes the tip of your breast into his mouth, sucking delicately at first, then more strongly when you moan his name.
Every pull of his mouth makes you pulse and tighten, and you don’t realise you’re grinding against him until his big hand grips your hip.
‘Stop, or I’ll come,’ he warns, voice thick, gravelly now.
‘Take your clothes off,’ you say.
He undoes the fly of his jeans, and the damp patch you see where his cock’s tenting his boxer briefs makes your mouth water.
He stops you with your hands on your own sweatpants, says, ‘Let me.’
Before you realise quite what he’s doing, he’s slid onto his knees on the floor, has tugged your sweatpants down to reveal your thighs, the hot stickiness between your legs.
He hooks a finger in the waistband of your panties. Poises himself, open mouthed over your core.
Looks to you once, eyes hooded, and whatever he sees in your face makes him bend down and put his mouth to you.
You cry out, muffled behind your own hand, and he stops instantly.
‘Is this ok?’ he asks.
‘Yes, yes, please,’ you tell him.
He watches you as he slides his tongue over your slit, eyes hooded and hot.
He’s good with his tongue, you realise dimly in the back of your mind as he laps at you. He swallows audibly, and your hips dance under his mouth.
‘Joon,’ you moan, and he hums, deep voice vibrating against your skin.
‘Joon,’ you moan again. His hand splays on the curve of your hip, fingers tightening on your flesh.
This time, he moans in response, and you cry out, throaty and hoarse, as he sucks at your clit with renewed fervour, pushing you closer and closer to the edge.
‘Joon!’
He pushes a finger into you, and you come with a gush of wet, walls tightening around him, your entire body tensing for a glorious instant before giving way to waves of pleasure.
Namjoon groans, deep in his chest, and you reach out and grip his hips, guiding him between your legs.
‘Wait,’ he says, touching your face, gentle though you can feel him hard as steel at your entrance, the blunt fullness of his cockhead nudging, seeking. ‘Are you sure you want this?’
‘Yes,’ you say, ‘yes.’
Namjoon groans again, pressing into you, filling you so well your body arches like a bow against his.
‘Feel so good,’ he utters, jaw tight, voice raspy.
He moves strongly within you, taking control with a confidence that thrills you to your toes.
He says your name as he moves, guttural and wanting, the slide of him into you making sparks bloom behind your eyelids.
He grasps your hand, fingers knitting with yours, as you writhe and moan underneath him.
‘Sound so pretty,’ Namjoon groans. ‘I’m sorry, I can’t —‘
You grip his shoulder. ‘I want you to come, Joon,’ you breathe, mouth by his ear.
He groans again then, circles his hips, and then thrusts deep, spilling his warmth inside you.
He’s still for a moment, breathing hard against your ear.
You turn your head to kiss him.
You’re still holding his hand, and it’s a while before either of you let go.
***
You pour out a mug of coffee from the pot Namjoon’s brewed, go out to where you can hear Namjoon chopping wood outside.
He’s concentrating, splitting chunks of wood with a careful precision.
He looks up as you approach, and his smile warms you.
‘Hey,’ he says.
You’d ended up sleeping tangled up with Namjoon. Some time during the night you’d woken to find him pushing your hair back from your face.
You’d pulled him down on top of you, taken him in again, slow, languid, bodies moving together until you’d gasped and come, muffled against his chest.
‘Hey,’ you reply.
‘Jiwon still asleep?’ he asks.
‘He’s exhausted,’ you say.
‘Glad we didn’t wake him,’ Namjoon says.
‘He’s a pretty good sleeper.’
Namjoon glances at you, and you flush.
‘I didn’t mean —’
He laughs at how flustered you are.
‘Good to know he sleeps well,’ Namjoon says. There’s a spark in his eyes now, dimples flashing in his cheeks.
For all his size and height and seriousness, your handsome neighbour looks like a little boy trying to get a rise out of you when he’s like this.
He watches, amusement in his face, as you sip the coffee to try to hide your discomfiture.
When you look back at him, he’s gathering up an armful of wood.
‘Come on,’ he says. ‘When Jiwon wakes up I need to talk to both of you.’
***
The sun’s high in the gloomy sky by the time Jiwon wakes, lured by the smells of breakfast and the warmth of the fire in the fireplace.
After breakfast, Namjoon clears the table, and then sits you all down.
‘We can’t stay here for long,’ he says, seriously. ‘The guards don’t know about this place, but it’s not safe, and they’ll still be looking for you.’
‘There’s a place close to the border where there’s a new community, away from the guarded sectors.’
You’re looking at Namjoon, carefully, and he’s looking right back at you.
‘We could go there. It’ll be hard, probably, at the beginning.’
You turn to Jiwon.
Hard?
Harder than the life you have now?
If there’s one thing you know, it’s that you need to find a better future, for Jiwon.
Stability.
You ask the question you asked in your head when you left home with Namjoon.
‘We?’
‘Yes,’ Namjoon says. ‘I’d like to go with you. If that’s ok.’
You’re looking at Jiwon again.
The hopeful expression on his face makes the decision for you.
***
Ten years later
You’re waiting at the train station for Jiwon.
There’s a chill in the air still, it’s cold for spring but warmer than it has been in recent years.
A lot’s changed in the last ten years.
You, Namjoon and Jiwon had moved to the new community at just the right time.
It had been hard at first, but nothing compared to the constant fear of being detained by the guards.
The world’s been rebuilding itself after the War.
With your experience as a communal gardener, you’d been able to set up your own hydroponic greenhouse, and demand built up for your produce, to the point where you’ve been able to hire your own crew of gardeners and expand.
Jiwon had thrived in the new community, and when universities re-opened, he’d been accepted as part of the first few cohorts of students.
His university was a few hours away, but the redevelopment of public transport meant there was a regular train linking his campus and your home.
The home you built with Namjoon.
In recent years, you’ve seen more and more of the light-hearted, humorous Namjoon and less of the troubled, serious Namjoon you first met.
Your love for him has only grown.
He approaches you now, a little older, but still as heartbreakingly handsome as the day you met him.
You think the best decision you ever made for you and Jiwon was to let him in.
And now Jiwon’s on his way back for Christmas, and your heart is full.
Namjoon hands you the coffee he bought you from the cafe, and when you tilt your face up to his he leans down.
It’s a learned response from years of adjusting his height so you can reach to kiss him.
You press a kiss onto his cheek, over his dimple, and his arm slides around you to hold you tight to him.
The train pulls into the station, and Namjoon grasps your hand as it stops.
The carriage doors open, and your beautiful son steps out.
Physically, he looks like you, but the confidence in his bearing, the kindness in his face, the roguish twinkle in his eyes?
That’s you, and Namjoon.

“Hey there.”
The door to his studio falls into its lock behind you, closing with a beep.
“Yoongi?”
Your boyfriend obviously hasn’t heard you, busy typing and clicking away on his computer.
“Yoongi love?” so you try a second time.
Yoongi doesn’t react. No wonder. He has his headphones on and is playing music through them. You slip out of your coat and place it over the leather couch he has in his little studio. It was quite the homely place. The walls were painted a warm white, lighting fixtures were placed strategically for a relaxing feel and soft rugs covered the floors. They were mostly for soundproofing, but they still managed to give a cozy feel to the place, even if one of them told whoever entered his studio to very loudly Fuck Off. You know that you weren’t meant by it. Not you. Never you. You are the only person, next to Yoongi of course, who knows the code to his studio. And you know that you are always welcome here.
You spent many days in his studio. You share food in here after work, talk about your days, fuck like animals. Some days you also come over solely to work in his presence. You really love those days because you get to spend time with him while doing your own thing. Yoongi really loves those days too, because he can work so much easier when you are close to him.
You aren’t wearing any shoes, having discarded of them in front of his studio. Yoongi has a clear no shoe policy in his studio and you totally get him. You never understood people who walk around their cozy spaces with their outdoor shoes on. That shit is rancid.
The rugs feel soft on your feet, muffling your steps as you hurry to him.
“Yoongi baby?” you try one last time.
Yoongi is nodding his head to whatever beat is currently playing in his headphones, tapping his fingers on the table. But no reaction to you.
So you reach out and touch his shoulder.
“Oh fuck”, he gasps loudly, flinching with his entire body.
“Oh sorry”, you gasp, pulling your hand away. He startled you just as much as you seemed to have startled him.
Yoongi slams his finger on the keys and stops the track from playing. He turns and looks up at you, removing his headphones. His eyes are widened in shock
“Don’t scare me like that”, he whines, “I almost died.”
“Gosh sorry, I said your name like three times, but you didn’t hear me”, you say, snickering.
“Ah baby”, he touches his own chest, “you just made my heart race. Don’t ever do that again”, he says whilst standing up.
“I’m sorry. You okay?” you say, drawing closer to him instinctively.
“Mhm, ‘m okay”, Yoongi mumbles, snaking his arm around your waist to pull you into a kiss.
It was a chaste kiss, but so incredibly sweet and full of love. It makes both of smile and rub the tips of your noses together.
“Missed you, love”, he says.
“Missed you too”, you answer him, keeping your eyes closed to enjoy his presence to the fullest.
You feel his lips on your forehead in a loving kiss and then he is already drawing back, sitting back down on his chair. It makes a little squeaking sound.
You grab the empty chair next to his’ and sit down, moving it closer to him. Yoongi keeps this chair empty for you. He may allow whoever comes in here for work to sit on it, but in his mind this is your chair. He loves it so much when you sit in it and pay him company. He likes to sneak glances at you whenever that happens, feeling giddy each and every time because he is so smitten for you.
Yoongi is already working again, eyes focused on Cubase. He unplugged his headphones so you can listen to what he is listening to and even turned the screen a little to make it easier for you to see.
You hug his arm, leaving one adoring kiss on it before resting your cheek on it. He is wearing one of his black hoodies today. The really soft one.
“You smell good”, you say, rubbing against him like a cuddly cat.
“You’re cute”, Yoongi says, placing his hand on your thigh to rub it softly. He doesn’t look away from the screen, but still has half of his attention on you.
“Are you still working on Dreamscape?” you ask him. It was the name of his current favourite project. Yoongi says that the name was only temporary, but you liked it nonetheless.
“Yes, I’m working on the beat. What do you think of that part?”
Yoongi presses play and shows you the first verse. It was just the melody and beat for now, but already sounded amazing. He stops it right before the chorus starts.
“You removed the strings.”
“Yeah”, he nods his head, “I thought they were too much.”
“Yes I agree. It sounds a lot more harmonious now. I really like it.”
Yoongi sneaks a glance at you, “thanks”, he mumbles shyly and looks back at his screen. Your opinion matters a lot to him, so hearing that you like what he did makes him really happy.
You enjoy a few moments of silence after that. You spend it resting your cheek on his arm and touching him mindlessly. Yoongi spends it perfecting the second verse and holding your thigh. Every now and then, one of you also turns their head just to give the other a little kiss.
“How was the dentist by the way?” Yoongi asks into the silence.
“It was good. She told me that my teeth are all very healthy, but that I should floss more”, you tell him.
“Flossing is overrated.”
“Yeah, I agree”, you snicker, “but it really helps. We should both do it more.”
“No thank you, I’m good. It’s too much work.”
“Goddamn it Yoongi, I was trying to make you my official motivational coach. Don’t ruin my plans”, you whine, pinching his tummy gently.
Yoongi tenses it and places his hand over yours to hold it and also prevent you from tickling him again.
“I can still be your coach, I’m just not gonna do it with you.”
“Yeah as if that ever worked for us. Remember when you were supposed to help me eat less chocolate and we failed miserably?”
“Yeah, because diets are dumb. Just eat whatever you wanna eat. I wanna see you happy, not on a stupid diet”, he whines.
“Aren’t you the one currently on an anti coffee diet?”
Yoongi looks at you with slightly squinted eyes.
“That is only because it’s giving me heart palpitations and I wanna stop that. Did you-“, he pouts, “did you just come here to bicker with me?”
“No god”, you chuckle, leaning in to kiss his pouty lips, “sorry, I hope you know that I don’t mean it in a rude way.”
“Yeah whatever, I know”, he kisses your lips and looks back at his screen.
You gaze at him, playing with his hair at the nape of his neck. He is currently growing it out, looking so handsome with it. He is also wearing two hairclips today, using them to keep the strands out his face. His glasses are perched atop his nose, reflecting the screen.
“You look so handsome.”
Yoongi sneaks a glance at you, clearly flustered by the surprise compliment. He looks away again and gives you one of his small, toothless smiles and a nod of his head.
He makes you smile. You love giving him compliments. He is always so cute when he receives them.
You let your eyes wander down his body. The hoodie suits him so well. You love it so much when Yoongi wears pretty clothes, but there was just something about seeing him in casual clothes that gets you. Maybe it is the fact that only a few people can see him like that and he counts you to that little circle. Or maybe it is simply because it is Yoongi and he is the most handsome man on earth.
“Yoongi?”
“Yes love?”
“You're so handsome.”
“Mhm.”
“No I mean it. You are so handsome.”
“I heard you the first two times”, he mumbles, touching his ear shyly.
You smile and lean in to peck his cheek.
“You’re so cute.”
“Mhm”, he turns and pecks your lips, chuckling when you try to chase him only to fail because he turns his head away again. He did so only to tease you of course.
“Can I sit on your lap?” you ask him, rubbing his thigh softly.
“You’re gonna be horny, aren’t you?”
“No?” you chuckle in embarrassment, “I just wanna be closer to you.”
Yoongi glances at you, “are you okay?” he asks, making space for you.
You climb on him, placing your knees on each side of his thighs. You plop down, wrapping your arms around him and resting your cheek on his shoulder.
“Yes, I’m okay. Why do you ask?”
“Cause if you’re not horny, then you only wanna sit on my lap when you’re upset.”
“Yes true, but sometimes I’m also just horny.”
Yoongi exhales loudly, making you chuckle.
"You told me that you wouldn’t be. Literally two seconds ago”, he whines.
"Yeah well…"
“Baby I fucked you so good this morning. Are you seriously horny again?"
You laugh, snuggling closer.
“Would it be so bad if I was horny again?”
“No, but I can’t get shit done when you’re always on my dick.”
“Who says you have to get the song done today?”
“The deadlines.”
“And who made those deadlines?”
“I did, but that’s beside the point”, Yoongi cranes his neck to look at your face, “stop being so horny all the time”, he says, giving your butt a soft spank.
You chase it with a little wiggle of your hips.
“I wasn’t even horny right now, but if you keep spanking me, I’ll change my mind”, you say.
Yoongi’s faux annoyance façade breaks instantly. He snorts and chuckles, eyes softening in fondness.
“You’re so cute”, he says, pecking your forehead and looking back at his screen.
You rest your cheek on his shoulder, getting lost in his scent. Yoongi has the best chest to lean on. So strong and safe and always so warm. You love being close to him so, so much.
Yoongi keeps his hand on your ass. It feels so big and so strong. Quite frankly, it does rile you up a little. You really love his hands. They are so sexy. So having him hold your ass like that messes with your sanity just a little.
“I’m really happy that you’re here, baby”, Yoongi tells you, “I can really feel my energy rising because of you.”
“I’m happy to be of help”, you cuddle into him, pressing your chest against his, “I love being here.”
Yoongi sighs happily, giving your butt a soft pat.
“I'm serious, don’t spank me”, you warn, poking your finger into his tits.
“I'm not spanking you. This would feel something along the line of this”, he says and does the unthinkable of truly landing a spank on your ass. It was loud and leaves a slight burning sensation on your skin.
“Ah”, you moan, chasing him desperately while your thighs squeeze around him.
“Baby what the hell?” Yoongi gasps.
You lift your head, meeting his widened eyes. He looks flabbergasted.
“That was so loud”, he says, “I, I was just joking with you and-“
He can’t finish his sentence because you kiss him before he can. You kiss him sloppily and oh so desperately, moaning into his mouth whilst rolling your hips over his thigh.
“Wait woah wait”, Yoongi breaks the kiss and laughs, "darling wait."
“Yoongi kiss me”, you beg, chasing him with closed eyes.
“Baby, I have to work.”
“Yeah and you made me horny”, you whimper softly, grinding your pussy against his clothed thigh. It feels so soft and warm, you love it so much, “you can’t just spank me and then act like this wouldn’t affect me.”
“You're so strange sometimes. You don’t even like getting spanked”, he says with amusement in his voice and fondness in his eyes.
“Yeah well”, you pout, “let me be. Humans are weird. I just feel like it today.”
“I'm not judging. We're all complicated creatures. We sometimes like stuff we never liked before and vice versa.”
“Exactly”, you snicker, “what a poetic way of saying it.”
Yoongi chuckles, rubbing your butt softly.
“Mhhm Yoongi please”, you whine, moving closer, “can we do something?”
“Baby you said you weren’t horny and that I could work”, Yoongi is only pretending to be annoyed. Quite frankly he loves the little game you are currently playing.
“Yeah but that was before you were sexy.”
“Oh? So I’m not sexy on normal days?”
You squish his cheeks, “you’re always sexy, but now you are super sexy.”
He snorts, “I still gotta work.”
You give him a pout.
Yoongi’s eyes soften. He reaches up to caress your chin, holding it between two of his fingers afterwards.
“What do you want, my baby?” he asks in his typical I’d do anything for you voice.
“I just want…you. Something of you.”
“Yeah? Do you wanna ride my thigh for a little, mhm?”
You nod your head, feeling your stomach tingle in excitement. Yoongi gives you his prettiest smile, caressing your chin again.
“I can do that for you. Start whenever you feel like it”, he whispers, turning you weak with just the sound of his voice.
You scramble off his lap. Yoongi watches with his lips slightly agape in awe. Not that he could do anything other than watch you. You placed yourself right in front of his screen. Yoongi doesn’t mind one bit, enjoying the little show with a racing heart. You step out of your sweats first.
“I’m not wearing nice panties today”, you confess, giggling shyly whilst trying to tug your shirt over your butt.
Yoongi furrows his brows angrily, looking highly displeased by your words.
“Come closer”, he orders.
You follow instantly, gasping when he places his hands on your hips. His eyes flit up.
“Can I see?” he asks.
“Yes”, you whisper, “don’t laugh.”
“Never”, he promises, changing his gaze to your middle. He tugs your shirt up, keeping it from slipping down by touching your waist with the fabric between his palm and your body. His eyes run over your clothed middle and the lilac cotton panties you are wearing. The frilly edge is just a little washed out and frayed. Yoongi swears he has never seen something more beautiful.
“You are so beautiful”, he says, gazing up at you, “I don’t know what bullshit you’re talking about. I love those panties.”
“Really?” you say, feeling your cheeks burn up.
“Of course. They look really comfy and soft and make your skin look so pretty.”
“They are really comfy”, you say, swaying from side to side giddily.
“That’s good to hear”, Yoongi smiles, “can I touch them?”
You nod your head vigorously.
“Hold the shirt for me, love.”
You follow without hesitation, watching his hands with sparkly eyes. Yoongi dances them down along your tummy, eyes glowing in adoration.
“You’re so beautiful”, he whispers, brushing against the hem of the panties. He outlines the frilly edge, lips curling into a content smile.
“They’re washed out already”, you whisper.
“Hush. They’re perfect”, he silences you, smile growing.
You feel like burning up and squeaking and jumping around. Yoongi makes you feel so pretty and sexy and happy.
He abandons the edge to run his thumbs down to your pussy. He never touches you, lifting his thumb right before he meets where you ache the most. Now he is hovering right above your clit, driving you crazy in desperation.
Yoongi lifts his gaze.
“Do I have permission?” he asks.
“Just do it. Oh my god, you tease”, you whine, making him grin.
“So impatient”, he whispers, lowering his eyes back to where it is most important. He finally lowers his thumb, connecting it with your clit.
You gasp, chasing him instantly. You can’t feel a lot because of the position and the panties, but it is Yoongi’s touch. Yoongi’s. And that means that it feels ten times more intense. He runs his thumb down your pussy, eyes following the touch and smile adorning his face. You seriously have to hold back from crumbling.
“So warm”, he breathes, letting his touch linger on your entrance. He draws slow circles, holding your squirming hips with his unoccupied hand, “baby, you’re so warm.”
“You’re such a tease”, you complain in a whine.
“What do you mean?” he asks innocently, gawking up at you.
“Touch me more.”
Yoongi smirks in amusement, doing the unthinkable traitorous act of pulling his hand away. You are outraged, scandalized, betrayed!
“No please”, you beg, reaching for his wrist to pull his hand back where it belongs.
Yoongi laughs, eyes sparkling in mischief.
“You’re so horny, baby. Oh my god. Didn’t you say I could still work? And now you wanna make me touch you?” he teases, painting the hottest warmth of embarrassment onto your cheeks.
“You’re so mean”, you whine, swaying from side to side needily.
Yoongi stops the movements by gripping your hips strongly, forcing your knees to buckle in desperation.
“And you’re wet”, he says, eyes flitting up to meet yours. They are darkened in arousal, glistening dangerously, “I can see it soaking your pretty little panties. Just a little stain right…”, he dances his thumb down to where your panties are soaked, “…there”, he says, pressing his thumb against it.
You tense up and gasp, hips chasing him in needy rolls. It makes his thumb grind against your pussy.
Yoongi lets you do that long enough for the stain to grow a little. Then he stops you, retreating his touch to grip your hips again.
“Please”, you whimper.
“That’s where you’re wet”, he ignores your beg to keep on teasing.
“Please more”, you plead.
Yoongi hums contently, abandon your hips to dance his touch to the hem of your panties.
You wait with bated breath.
Such pretty panties”, he whispers, trailing his touch further up your body.
You whine, making him smirk. He knows that you thought that he would undress you. He gets off on making you whine though, so obviously he’s not going to give it to you so quickly.
“Do you want to sit for me, baby?”
You are on his lap before he could even finish his sentence, mounting him like a needy animal. Yoongi laughs at your eagerness, letting you find your comfy spot with stretched out arms. With your hands on his shoulders and your pussy against his thigh, you stare at him, waiting for what he’ll do next.
“So eager”, he rasps, running his hands down your back until he can grab your ass. He watches you with cat-like attention, massaging your butt softly. Your breath trembles as it leaves you, your eyes fill with desperate pleasure. Yoongi lifts his hands. You gasp and stick your ass out. That is all he needed to know. He lowers them in a spank, eliciting a shudder to run through your entire body.
“Oh god”, you croak, hiding away in his chest while your hips rut against his thigh with all their might.
Yoongi quite frankly feels so fucking affected by your reaction that it gets really fucking hard to breathe for him. You are so needy today. He is so into that.
“You really liked that, didn't you?” he asks, massaging your heated buttocks.
You nod your head, whimpering his name.
“You're so sexy, love”, he rasps, gathering more of your ass to massage it slowly, “love that ass so much.”
You mewl, squeezing your eyes shut and twisting a bundle of his hoodie. You really weren’t planning to be horny right now, but you don’t regret it. You love this so much. His touch is so addicting.
Yoongi runs his left hand up to your head. He tilts it up with a strong grip, making sure you can’t escape his eye contact.
“Are you having fun?” he asks to which you nod your head.
“Yes.”
“You do. That’s good to hear.”
“More”, you croak, chasing him needily.
You can see the moment Yoongi realises what that means. His love-filled eyes darken in arousal, eyelids lowering dangerously. He leans in, making sure his lips brush against your ear.
“You're gonna count to five for me now. Can you do that, mhm?”
You squirm, panties getting soaked more and more because of him.
“Yes. I can do that ”, you rasp, readying yourself by sticking your ass out.
Yoongi kisses your ear, “good girl”, he whispers, straightening back up afterwards.
He runs his big hand down to your ass, tracing the soft skin first.
“Ready?” he asks, eyes racing between yours.
“Yes”, you whisper, chasing him.
“Good. Start counting for me.”
“One”, you croak, readying yourself by gripping his strong shoulders.
Spank.
Yoongi’s hand comes into contact with your right buttock, making it jiggle. A stinging burn remains, making you moan in bliss.
“How's that, baby?” he asks, soaking up your droopy gaze. You looked so sexy when he spanked you. All surprised but oh so happy.
“Please more. T-two”, you beg, lifting your hips needily.
Spank.
Yoongi hit your left side for symmetry, making it sting oh so nicely. Your pussy throbs, aching to be stuffed.
“Oh god please”, you whimper, resting your head back against his chest, “three please.”
“That's so hot. You’re so sexy”, Yoongi rasps and spanks you again. He grips your flesh right afterwards, prolonging the burn by massaging it aggressively, “such a good girl.”
Spank.
“A-ah four”, you squeak, leaking all over his thigh. The spank surprised you so much. It hurts and burns and you are riding on its high. Yoongi doesn’t use particularly much force, knowing very well that you aren’t normally into it. So he wants to make sure you are still comfortable in your spontaneous fun, keeping his spank gentle but rough enough to give you a little glimpse of painful heaven. You don’t seem to mind, writhing on his lap needily.
“There we go. One more baby. One more and we're done”, he speaks softly, tracing your skin with his palm. It feels so hot to the touch. He can also feel that you are soaking through his sweats, feeling his cock strain his boxers because of it.
“Five please”, you beg, thighs trembling when he lands his last spank on your ass. It was harsh and rough, leaving a burning imprint on your skin. He wanted the last one to stay in your memories and judging by how needily you start humping his thigh, it will.
“There we go. All done”, Yoongi soothes the sensitive skin, cock aching in his sweats, “that was amazing baby. You did so well.”
“Please fuck me”, you beg and sob softly, “p-please fuck me.”
“Look at me.”
You follow instantly, showing him your glassy eyes. Yoongi places his hand at the back of your neck and leans in, making your breath hitch in your throat. He is gazing at your lips, being so close to kissing you. You tremble in excitement. Finally, you think, finally you’ll get his cock.
“No”, he however breaks your horny, little heart with one word, having the audacity to smirk afterwards, “you’ve got what you wanted. Now let me work.”
“Yoongi please”, you voice comes out both breathy and squeaky, your eyes burn unbearably.
“No, you can’t sway me. You wanted to ride my thigh, so get on with it”, he taunts, pulling back despite all the whining you are doing.
The cocky amusement on his face almost makes you want to fight him. He is doing this on purpose. He just made you soaking wet by spanking you, makes you ride his thigh, barely touches your pussy on purpose just so he can be a tease and leave you hanging. Oh, you want to break into the neediest tears. You need him so bad. Everything aches.
Yoongi is currently pretending to look at his screen, acting all busy by pressing random buttons on the keyboard. You take a look down at his crotch, feeling the urge to fight him grow. He is even sporting a boner. Loud and proud it is stretching his sweats.
“Yoongi please”, you beg quietly, rolling your hips over his thigh. The friction is so goddamn addicting.
He shakes his head.
“You’re so mean, I’m gonna fight you”, you complain, pushing at his chest.
His lips curl into a lazy smirk.
You huff out air and make your next move. You hook your fingers in your shirt, taking it off in one smooth movement. When you are free of it and have thrown it on the ground, you look back at Yoongi.
He is gawking at your chest with widened eyes, chest heaving up and down quickly.
“Please?” you try.
“You didn’t actually go to the dentist without a bra on, did you?”
“Maybe? Maybe I only took it off because I knew I’d be coming here. Maybe it’s still in my coat pocket. Maybe I want you to keep it here with you once I leave. Who knows.”
Yoongi gulps, placing his hands right under your breasts.
“Why are you seriously the sexiest woman on earth, ___?” he asks, voice deeper than usual.
You giggle. Jackpot. You’ve got him hooked again.
“Oh my fucking god, can I please touch them?” he whines.
“Yeah, touch them.”
Yoongi growls and goes to bury his face in your tits. He moans deliciously, inhaling deeply while his hands squeeze your flesh desperately. You laugh because he is adorable, chasing him with an arch of your back.
“You’re so sexy, holy fuck I’ve hit the jackpot”, he babbles, kissing every single inch of your chest, “I’m so lucky. Holy fuck, baby. My pretty baby.”
He makes you feel equal parts giddy and horny. Being praised feels so good when he is doing it. He is always so honest in his words. His touch always feels a hundred times more amazing because of it.
“So pretty. I fucking love your tits. You’ve got the best tits, baby. The motherfucking best”, he mumbles before taking your left nipple between his lips to suck on it gently.
“Ah, baby”, you gasp, squirming on his lap.
Yoongi slurps quietly, releasing your nipple just to kiss a path to your right one.
“I love you, love you like crazy. I’m the luckiest man”, he murmurs, showing you his gratitude by kissing and licking your nipple. He swirls his tongue right around it, eyes closed in bliss and chest rumbling in moans.
You moan too, tilting your head back in bliss. You can feel that touch all the way down to your pussy. This is exactly how he always eats you out. Little kisses and quick circles on your clit. The sensation is so familiar that it almost feels as if he is licking your clit right now.
You most definitely tremble just as much and your pussy most definitely aches just as much.
“Your nipples are so swollen. I’m going insane”, Yoongi whines with suffering in his voice, kissing his way back to your left side, “my cock’s so fucking hard, I want your pussy so bad.”
“Fuck me please”, you beg, feeling oh so weak from his licks.
Yoongi looks up at you, breaking away from your chest even if it hurts you both. He cups your cheek, forcing your forehead to rest against his’.
“Take my cock out”, he orders.
You work without hesitation. Yoongi helps you by lifting his butt from the chair so you can tug his clothes down easily. You tug them down until his knees and then Yoongi takes over, stepping out of them messily. They end up pooling around his left ankle, but he can’t be bothered. He needs to fuck you. Now.
“Lube?” he asks.
“No”, you shake your head, busy taking off your panties, “don’t need it.”
"Condom?"
“No, want you creampieing me", you say, throwing the panties on his desk. Yoongi eyes them hungrily as they landed right on his keyboard then looks at your now completely naked body.
“Fuck, you’re so hot. Wanna creampie you”, he rasps, caressing your cheek, “get on this fucking cock. Now.”
You waste not even a second, climbing atop of him to sink yourself down.
“Ah baby”, he moans, holding your hips.
“Yoongi”, you whimper, sinking into the sensations. His cock gives the best fucking stretch ever. He fits like no other, filling you up so good. Especially right now after all the teasing he put you through. You could honestly cum the moment he bottoms out from just how needy he has gotten you.
“Okay that’s fucking amazing. How are you doing, love?” Yoongi says, half-lidded eyes racing over your features.
“I wanna cum”, you confess, eliciting a deep chuckle from him.
“You wanna cum?” he asks, letting his head fall against the backrest of his chair just so he can watch you better. He looks so good like this. All cocky and confident and with his glasses all pretty on his nose.
“Yeah”, you whimper, “I’m really sensitive.”
“Poor baby, she’s sensitive”, he coos and begins rocking your hips for you, “so if I do this, is it already too much for you, mhm?”
“A-almost”, you get out, having to gasp for air afterwards.
“Almost”, Yoongi repeats and hums, “well that’s too bad”, he rasps, continuing his loving guidance. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth on his cock, shifting it inside you just enough to rile you up and keep you right there with. Right there, on this warm wave of pleasure. The kind which creeps so deep and stays for so long. The kind, which you never ever want to end.
"It feels so good", you whisper, whimpering softly afterwards.
"Yes baby, it does. You’ve got the best pussy. I love fucking that pussy, love it so much", he is lulling his words, which means he was struggling just as much.
"It's, it’s so much better than w-working, isn’t it?" you tease, having to gasp for air.
Yoongi chuckles lazily, eyes lowering playfully.
"It's the fucking best. Love having you on my dick", he smiles, giving your hips a loving squeeze, "keep moving just like this, baby. It’s perfect."
"Yeah", you croak, letting your eyes fall closed. You are moving on your own. Yoongi is still helping, but really doesn’t have to. You want to keep moving. His cock is the best, you feel so fulfilled right now.
Yoongi’s smile grows. His left hand leaves your hips just so he can cup your cheek instead. His heart flutters when you lean into his touch and your face lights up in happiness. He brushes his thumb over your cheek.
"You're so beautiful", he whispers, moaning softly because you clench around him in reaction. He chases the sensation with a careful thrust, eliciting a shake from you.
"Yoongi", his name sounds like honey when you say it, filling him with so much happiness.
Yoongi gives you another thrust, holding your cheek safely in his big hand.
You moan, tensing around him and nose scrunching up in pleasure.
Yoongi loves that view so much.
"Are you enjoying yourself, baby?" he asks, not because he is doubting himself but because he loves hearing you say it.
"Yes", you sigh, nodding your head slowly, "I'm really close."
"I know baby, I know. You’re such a good girl, you know that?" he praises, making you tense around his cock. He slips his hand from your hip and places his thumb against your clit.
"Oh fuck-", you exclaim, head tilting back in bliss and hips completely loosing their rhythm. You shake uncontrollably, pussy convulsing around him like crazy.
"There we go. Shake for me. You’re so pretty", he rasps, rubbing circles on your swollen clit. He gives you slow thrusts, dancing his hand down to your chest to play with your nipples.
"Yoongi", you mewl his name, dragging out his last syllable. You feel so charged. The build up is crazy. You can’t think straight. This is too good.
"It's okay, you’re okay. I'm right here with you", Yoongi soothes you, "cum for me, baby. It’s safe."
"Yoongi" you squeak, "I love you", you sob, falling into him as you fall into your high. You feel broken in the most beautiful of ways, never wanting the shakes to stop.
"I love you too baby. You’re doing so well. So, so well", Yoongi talks you through your orgasm, helping you ride it out with expert touches. He knows what your body needs during those moments, having helped you over the edge hundreds of times before. It never becomes boring, never ever.
Yoongi allows you to calm down once your high has stopped. He rubs your back and keeps his hips still, floating on your afterglow with you. His cock is so sensitive, each time your pussy clenches he feels charged.
"You did so good. You were such a good girl", he whispers to you.
"Did you cum too?" you ask him, voice frail but happy.
Yoongi kisses your shoulder, "all that matters is that you had fun."
"What?" your head shoots up, big eyes on him instantly, "no. No, don’t say that. I want you to cum too."
"You don’t have to."
"Be quiet", you say, moving your hips even if you are still a little dizzy from your orgasm.
Yoongi groans, furrowing his brows. His hands fall to your hips, squeezing them desperately.
"I wanna be creampied by you. You have to cum too", you insist, bouncing on his cock.
"You're gonna get it, trust me", he gets out and groans, eyes closed and lips parted.
"Yeah? That’s so hot. Do you like how I move my hips?"
"Faster please."
"Like this?" you say, putting more vigour in your movements for Yoongi’s enjoyment.
Yoongi moans loudly and arches his back. He nods his head vigorously, feeling his cock throb inside you.
"Don't stop, don’t stop, please don’t stop", he begs, resorting to making deep sounds of pleasure afterwards.
"You're the best human ever, Yoongi. And, and your cock’s so amazing", you say, burying your fingers in his hair to play with it. He’s such a sensitive scalp that hairplay always gets him oh so good.
"I'm gonna cum", he croaks, squeezing your hips strongly.
"Please fill me up. Make me drip, baby. Please", you beg, throwing Yoongi over the edge with a clench of your walls.
Yoongi moans your name as he climaxes, pumping you full of his warm cum and holding your hips so tightly you fear he might bruise them.
"Yes! Oh god stuff me. Yoongi, ah Yoongi", you encourage him, enjoying his orgasm with a dizzy head.
"___", he whimpers, shaking one last time and then he comes down hard.
He slacks in the chair, panting heavily to recover. You help him by leaning in and kissing his face, twirling strands of his hair between your fingers. His cock is still throbbing inside you, filling you up so nicely.
"You're seriously so amazing", he lulls, wrapping his arms around you to hug you.
"You too", you say, resting against him, "I feel so dizzy now."
"Yeah same", he laughs breathily, "the way you always make me cum. Are you a witch or something?"
You snicker, "maybe. That would be kinda cool."
He smiles, "yeah and hot", he agrees, exhaling loudly afterwards, "I'm so dead."
"Yeah same", you agree, sighing contently.
Yoongi hugs you tighter.
"Thank you for this. I'm always teasing, but I seriously love it when you’re horny. This was so much fun", he says.
"Yeah, I loved it too", you whisper, "I wanna wear my panties with your cum still inside by the way."
"Hot? What the hell you’re gonna make me hard again."
"You still are. I can feel it", you laugh, wiggling your hips and therefore moving your pussy around him.
Yoongi whines, "mercy baby, I’m just a weak man."
"Gosh Yoongi, you’re so cute", you giggle, lifting your head so you can finally kiss him.

[visual content blog recommendations]
we see fic recs all the time, but i don’t think i’ve ever seen rec lists for visual content (gif/art/gfx/etc.) creators! they’ve been dealing with a bunch of shit lately between reposts, tumblr garbage, etc., so i wanna shout-out some favorites. thank you for keeping us fed!!
disclaimer: this is not an exhaustive list!! if you have recommendations of your own, please feel free to expand on this yourself and/or drop some of your faves in the replies for others to see. self-promo is always welcome here, too ✨ p.s. some of these are recent finds for me, so pls expect to see more of them on my blog. eta: i will be adding more as i go!!
[bts]
@yooboobies — réka’s gif sets are *chef’s kiss* and the ART? omg. the talent!!! 😭 we simply have to simp.
@cordiallyfuturedwight — apart from being one of the coolest/funniest people i’ve found on army tumblr, i am a kayla stan because the niche themes for her gif sets (ex. bangtan turtlenecks series) feel like they’re made 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 me 👏🏻 even though they absolutely aren’t, lmao.
@hopeinthebox — the bts as reductress headline + incorrect bangtan series are probably my favorite pieces of content on the entire internet??? also, lizzy is absolutely gd hilarious. tags are 11/10. a blessing upon my dash.
@kimtaegis — i’m not visually artistic enough to say this in a way that makes sense, but annie’s gifs are just… stunning? like, the colors? idk about the process that goes into that, but i imagine it takes a lot of time/finesse to be this vivid.
@kithtaehyung — ryen is the renaissance man of army tumblr, fr. not only can she write (like!!!) but she’s multi-faceted and insanely creative with her graphic design. i want her to tutor me, lmao.
@raplinenthusiasts — ooohhhhh my god. the coloring of their gifs makes my brain go brrrrtttt. this bts x the office set is on my “always reblog” list; i’ll share it every time i come across it.
@heybaetae — this set in particular is on my “always reblog” list, no matter how many times i’ve done so already. also, idk how to describe this, but kelli’s gifs are just…. crispy 🤌🏻 like, so satisfying with the…. texture? filtering? contrast? i’m an idiot re: editing terms, but go peep them and you’ll know what i’m trying to say.
@kth1 — literally who could ever forget maggie’s 100 days of (member) series??? the amount of work that had to go into that? unfathomable.
@jeurias — i want to wallpaper my house and office with their gfx. i’m deadass.
@jinstronaut — emmeline has been doing her “a jin a day while he’s away” series for OVER 250 DAYS NOW. i have never been nor will i ever be able to commit to anything to this level.
[multi/skz/atz/svt/etc.]
@starryoong — do not get me started on starry’s paintings, sketches, etc. because i will never shut up. ever. j’adore 🫠 is also a five-star human being.
@irlvernon — my queue is probably 80% max gifs at any given time. god-tier, fr. a must-follow for carats, as far as i’m concerned.
@vcrnons — incredible gifs, lovely human, and also the writer of some of my favorite svt fics??? we stan.
@yelhsaart — i don’t have any words for how much i love their art so please imagine guttural screaming instead. asdfghjkl!!!
@hizuillu — ……breathtaking. legitimately stunning skz art. like…… i have heart palpitations.
@snug-gyu — THE USE OF COLORS. i’m always a simp for pantone-inspired sets; they just scratch an itch in the back of my brain, and BOY HOWDY, is my brain satisfied 😵‍💫
@yunwooz — again, i have no idea what i’m talking about when it comes to the gif-making process, but the colors!!! the COLORS!!! like, taking a mv that’s not super vivid/is fairly greyscale and bringing it to life? ya know????
@booskwan — you want incredible gifs? they’ve got em. you want stunning gfx? they’ve got em. seriously, idk what to tell you except “pause right here and go follow immediately”.
@haechannabelle — listen……. annabelle’s art style is 😗🤌🏻 (that’s a chef’s kiss). the use of color, and the technique, and and and — ! ALSO, i must mention that she took, like, 50 hours to compile a boycott-friendly k-pop playlist. their vibes are simply impeccable.

Namjoon watched the clock tick by as Jungkook slept on his chest. Something about you… didn’t feel right. He couldn’t explain it, and he was pretty sure he wasn’t jealous. Although, he would have reason to be. You were beautiful and your figure only added to it. Not to mention the way you looked straddling Jungkook was objectively erotic looking– but that wasn’t the point. The point was how nonchalant you were about the whole thing. From giving his boyfriend stitches to fighting him off to reacting that way when he grabbed you, Namjoon knew there was something more there.
The seven of them had built Bangtan from the ground up, and especially as anniversary day was coming up, it unnerved him to encounter someone he couldn’t get a read on. He would need to have Yoongi look into what he could find about you. The seven of them were all leaders, but Namjoon controlled the above-ground operations while Yoongi managed the underground ones, and something told Namjoon he’d need to look there for anything about you.
First, he just had to get your full name from the younger man drooling on his chest. He sighed as he brushed a hand through Jungkook’s hair, wanting to be angry with him for getting drunk and getting into a fight, but he just couldn’t. After the last few years Jungkook had, he deserved to let loose, what worried him was that he was doing him more often than usual. Jungkook usually only acted out this much when he was holding something in. It didn’t help that the leader had been halfway across the world for the past month. Namjoon was never one to pry or be too good with feelings out of all of them, but he had a nagging feeling it had to do with you.
Eventually, sleep found the older man and he was awoken by the smell of food wafting into the bedroom. His eyes finally cracked open when he felt a kiss being planted on his cheek, “Wakey, wakey.” Hoseok sang, and chuckled at the look of confusion Namjoon gave him, “Jungkook called us all over for breakfast since it’s been a while since we’ve all been in the same city.”
Namjoon was finally fully awake and could hear Jungkook singing along to some show tune with Jin in the kitchen and scoffed, “He’s awfully spry for someone who should be nursing one hell of a hangover.” He mumbled and Hoseok snorted.
“Yeah, I’m sure Yoongi is going to want a full report on last night.” The older man shook his head, knowing it would only stress out the aforementioned man, “Brightside is he should calm down when Jimin and Taehyung tell him the news.” The younger man raised a brow in question but Hoseok shook his head, “I’m not the type to spoil a surprise.” He chuckled before pressing a soft kiss to the man’s furrowed brow, “You’ll know soon enough, let’s go.”
Hand in hand, the two take their seats as Jin and Jungkook place plates in front of the five sitting men, “I see someone is trying to make up for getting trashed last night.” Taehyung sang.
“Or I just miss having all my boyfriends in the same room.” Jungkook huffed as he took his seat next to Yoongi who gave him a glare, “Oh, come on. You cannot seriously be mad at me?” He flashed his doe eyes to the man and fluttered his lashes.
Jimin clicked his tongue, “That’s not seriously going to work, is it?” He whined, “Yoongi never lets me get away with shit from just looking at him.”
“You get away with plenty.” Jin quipped at the fighter.
Yoongi ignored the commotion as his hands brushed Jungkook’s hair out of the way to look at the stitches, “Who did those, baby?” His voice was soft but with the way the youngest man shrunk, he knew he wouldn’t like the answer.
“Well, I guess I’ll just go ahead and give the report of last night’s events.” Namjoon huffed through a bite of bacon, “You want to start, Kook?” He raised a brow.
The man sighed and nodded, “Well, I finished all my work early, like usual.” He began smugly. Jungkook in general was a skilled person, so he didn’t have just one job, but most often he was digging up dirt on people via his computer skills, “Then, I had my regular neighbor dinner.” He smiled at the thought, and Jin noticed Jimin and Taehyung scowling a bit at this. The two were the most jealous of this elusive neighbor, which was odd since even on the seldom occasions the others sought the company of someone else, it never affected any of them. Nowadays, they don’t really go outside of the relationship, but it’s still interesting to see them so jealous, but they kept silent as Jungkook continued, “We watched Jimin win, so then I decided to go out and… celebrate.” His smile turned guilty.
“This close to the anniversary, Kook?” Jin sighed and Yoongi kept deathly quiet.
“I’ll assume that’s where your memory stops?” Hoseok asked and Jungkook nodded sheepishly.
“Well, I then got a call from one of our guys at around three in the morning that some rookie was running his mouth and pissed Kook off.” Namjoon sighed, “Jungkook won the fight even sloshed out of his mind if that’s any consolation.”
“Nice.” Jimin grunts and Taehyung snickers at the glare Yoongi shoots him.
“Then, I drag him all the way here and he collapses at his neighbor’s door, insisting she’ll fix him up.” The CEO continues the story and notes how Hoseok shifts at the mention of this, “What was even weirder is that she did, like it was super normal.”
“It’s not that normal.” Jungkook argued weakly.
“She said it wasn’t uncommon.” Namjoon snapped and Yoong put his head in his hands, “I will also say it was really eerie the way she could just handle how Jungkook gets when she woke up.”
“She’s a nurse, you guys know that.” The man tried to defend.
“A high school nurse.” Taehyhung corrected, causing the hacker to pout, “I doubt she has to restrain her patients regularly.”
“Did I hurt her when I woke up?” Jungkook asked and this made Namjoon falter.
“That doesn’t matter right now.” The CEO offers, “What I was getting at is I think Yoongi and Jungkook should do a deeper background check than the initial one we did-”
“No.” Jungkook spat, partly shocking Namjoon at the venom in his voice. The youngest’s face was twisted in distaste at the idea, “You all promised-”
“That was before I saw the way-”
“No!” He shouted, shocking everyone at the table as his eyes began to glisten, “I’ve known her for years now, and she’s never been pushy about what’s going on in my life or why I have six boyfriends she’s never even met and in return, I don’t ask her questions.” Namjoon’s jaw clenched at this. Most of the time if an arrangement was too good to be true, it’s because it was. If he didn’t care so much about Jungkook’s love and trust he wouldn’t have even bothered to bring it up. At times like these, being in love was more frustrating than ever as he listened to Jungkook, “She trusts me and I trust her that way, I don’t want to ruin the only friendship I have outside of us.” His voice cracks at the end, making everyone soften a bit. Jungkook was right. It’s been just them for a long time, and you were the only friend he really had. You weren’t a drinking mate or gambling buddy, you were a friend. And yet, he felt like Namjoon was trying to take that away from him.
“Kook, have you considered she might not ask questions because she’s hiding something herself?” Taehyung gently asked, but it didn’t simmer the hacker’s anger.
“I don’t care if she’s hiding anything.” He snapped, making Jin sigh, “I’m hiding plenty and none of that has stopped us from being close so please, just leave it alone.” He pleaded, but Yoongi’s expression was unreadable, “Hoseok did those couple random shadows of her a few years ago and he saw nothing of concern.” He reminded them, and truthfully, how could any of them have forgotten? The act itself caused one of their worst arguments to date. Originally, Taehyung insisted on Jungkook digging up every piece of information he could about her and giving it to them, which made the youngest even more closed off about his friend. Finally, after days of disagreeing, Hoseok was the only one entrusted with your full name, not that it would’ve been all that hard to find.
The man in question nodded, “It was quite boring actually, but it’s true. Even the phone calls she took were a snoozefest.” He sighed just remembering them, “I’d never seen such a killjoy of a college student before, and I’m sure she’s the same as a nurse.” Granted, Hoseok’s specialty was not in surveillance, but Taehyung and Jungkook were too biased in opposite ways to do the shadowing, and the chemist was the only one with the extra time to do it.
Jungkook nodded, “She really does just go to work and home.” He mumbled ruefully, “Plus, even if she’s someone else or whatever, at the end of the day, she saves me a hospital trip and hasn’t said anything to anyone, evidently.” He added and Namjoon looked to Yoongi who sighed in defeat but nodded.
“Fine, we’ll drop it.” Yoongi finally spoke and Namjoon bristled, “She hasn’t caused any trouble, sounds like a good friend, and is smart enough not to ask any questions. There’s no reason not to trust Jungkook’s judgment.” He explained to the more skeptical men, Namjoon, Taehyung, and Jimin, who simply nodded in defeat before turning to the youngest, “Just, be more careful, okay?” He looked to the younger man who nodded before giving him a chaste kiss on the lips, “It was pretty risky bringing Namjoon there, even if accidentally. If she does know anything, she could’ve recognized him as the head of Bangtan Corp and unraveled quite a bit.” He said and Jungkook nodded. Even though he doubted you even knew an underground existed, let alone that Bangtan was running it, he understood Yoongi being weary, “Let’s enjoy our breakfast together, yeah?”
They all nodded before falling into their regular lull. No matter how much time they spent apart for work, it was easy for them to get together like no time had passed. The seven of them had been dating for a couple of years now, and though the relationship was loving, it was by no means perfect, that much was obvious. The organization had risen to its height because of their ability to work through those hardships together, but with the rise of their syndicate came less time for one another. This paired with secrets and disagreements that were littered throughout the relationship made for a good chunk of tension when work was exceptionally stressful, like during the anniversary. This was why the relationship was open, but Jungkook was the only one with a consistent connection outside of them, which was most likely why it ruffled some of their feathers.
“Now, I’m told Taehyung and Jimin have some good news?” Namjoon brings up and the two men in question grin at each other, and he can tell they’re silently deciding who should be the one to say it.
“We found a certain little weasel last night.” Taehyung sang.
“Found and captured.” Jimin added, and the two didn’t need to elaborate for the other men to know what they meant.
Yoongi smirked, sadism written along his features as he caught Namjoon’s eyes, “We’ve got an exciting day ahead of us.”
Your eyes cracked open slowly as you hissed when sunlight invaded your pupils. You squinted, not sure how you forgot to fully close the blinds, especially during the anniversary week, but you let it go. Work had been especially a nightmare with the beginning of a new term, and the blinds were just barely cracked, not enough for anyone to peak in much but certainly enough for the sun to wreak havoc on you. You stretched your arms forward, taking in a deep breath before craning your neck to look at the time, 10:24 am, nice. You actually managed to get a good amount of sleep even with the chaos at your door last night.
Your sleepy eyes landed on the shallow cut on your forearm beneath the wrapping you put on it. It looked a lot like a cat scratch, which you were thankful for. The last thing you needed was any nosy colleagues or students asking too many questions. Telling people you got the wound from having to tackle your only friend was less than ideal. You snorted to yourself. Truly, you should have more questions or concerns with Jungkook, but you just didn’t have it in you anymore. You spend the entire first two years of your friendship insanely weary, and you already spend your time like that with everyone else. It was nice to have someone you didn’t need to constantly be on guard from. Your fingertips ran over the bandage, hoping that you had made the right choice, but even then, it was far too late to change anything now.
You liked Jungkook more than you cared to admit, even to yourself, so when you heard his telltale knocking on your door in the middle of your morning cable surfing, you didn’t even bother to turn off the TV before going to the door. You rolled your neck before opening the door with a bored expression when Jungkook’s wide eyes met yours, “Morning, sport.” You drawled, leaning against your door frame.
Crossing your arms over your chest, Jungkook took notice of the bandage on your forearm, “Did I do that?” He asked worriedly.
You shrugged, looking away from him, “If you think about it, the needle is technically the culprit–”
“Y/n, I’m serious.” He pleaded, making you straighten up, but your gaze stayed fixed elsewhere, “Look at me, please.” He spoke, and you cursed yourself for obeying. You were accustomed to following orders, and something about the way Jungkook bothered to say please made it that much easier to listen to him, but you could only hope he didn’t realize this. “Did I hurt you?” His gaze burned you, and it made you hate his need for eye contact at times like these.
You sighed, examining the guilt on his face. The look made you feel like an asshole even though you didn’t do anything wrong. You didn’t like this part of your friendship. The serious, gravelly talks about what he did last night or about whatever breakdown of yours he happened to witness. The care in his eyes was suffocating, but addicting all the same. It made you feel self-conscious about your lack of clothing, but you were sure not even a parka wouldn’t make you feel any less vulnerable. The honesty in his eyes curled around you like smoke that you had no choice but to inhale and exhale right back to him. Flat-out lying to Jungkook has seldom been an option, especially about things like this, “Fine, when you woke up you were panicked and somehow made my hand slip and caused the needle I was working with to give me a little scratch.” You explained, eyes begging to avoid his again.
“That’s a big bandage for a little scratch.” He observed skeptically and you slipped your arms behind your back. He sighed, “I’m sorr–”
You shook your head. Much like actual birthday gifts, apologies had been foreign to you before Jungkook, and you didn’t like to nor know how to accept them, “I promise, it’s no deeper than a paper cut.” You looked up at him through your lashes, his expression now unreadable, which was somehow worse than the guilt.
He raised a brow, utterly unconvinced, “Let me see.” He wasn’t asking or pleading this time, but you didn’t have it in you to go against him.
You rolled your eyes, “Only because it’s about time to take it off anyway.” You huffed, only partially lying. It was time to let the wound air out a bit, but you both knew it wasn’t the only reason. You had spent most of your life taking in and thriving on the fear, guilt, and despair of others people. You loved the taste of the power you wielded, but nothing was more sour on your tongue than Jungkook’s dim mood. You turned around, peeling off the medical tape and walking to your counter as you heard your door close. Throwing the dressing in the trash, you looked at the wound with a nod before spinning to face the man approaching you, “See? It’s nothing.” You presented the thin line of scabs to him. He studied it, face still unreadable that was, until you flinched when his hand darted out to hold your wrist. The horror in his eyes made you feel physically ill as he went to withdraw, but you panicked and moved to hold his hand there, “Come on, you know it’s not because of you.” You reasoned, voice barely above a whisper.
His jaw clenched, but he nodded solemnly. The question of who it was burned his tongue as he pressed his mouth closed. He’d seen more than enough of your episodes to know that you had plenty of reasons to flinch and he had to swallow the urge to find every single reason and end them with his bare hands. Horrible things happened to you, and he wasn’t sure if not knowing was worse than what would become of him if he ever found out. He diverted his gaze back to the scratch, and you wanted to ask him what he was doing until he leaned down. Your breathing ceased as you watched his lips brush lightly over the wound in the form of the softest kiss he’d ever given you, “There, all better.” His joking tone was strained with his smile when he stood straight again, but you appreciated the effort.
His chest felt a bit lighter when you smiled softly, “What a hero.” You deadpanned.
The reality was that Jungkook wanted to rip the door off its hinges, he was so pissed off at himself. Plus with that door gone, there’d be just a bit less between the two of you, and he needed to ignore why that sounded so sickeningly sweet. Regardless, he knew you hated moments like these, moments where the air was still but heavy with a million unspoken words between you two, so he felt compelled to throw out a light comment since he couldn’t outright comfort you that often, “I’ll be more careful, I promise. I’ve just been so…”
You nodded sympathetically, “Yeah, this week is pretty rough for me too.” You sighed, staring at the way his thumb absent-mindedly rubbed along your skin. The affection created a pit in your stomach that you couldn’t explain, but you promised yourself it was just how friends felt for each other sometimes.
“Hey, I think you’ve been doing pretty good lately.” He chided softly, and a mix of embarrassment and pride filled you at his words, “I haven’t slept with you in weeks now.” He pointed out, and the fake pout on his lips made you chuckle, mind still partially lost in the way his thumb stroked your arm.
You knew he was just trying to lighten the reminder of how your screams would wake him up some nights. On those nights, Jungkook would all but break down your door in an effort to sleep next to you. It was weird for you, even still, sleeping next to someone. It brought out feelings in you that you didn’t want to deal with, so you did your best to make Jungkook’s presence in your bedroom as rare as possible, “Miss me?” You asked sarcastically, still so lost in his ministrations. Affection is something you’d only ever gotten from the man in front of you, so it was hard to tell if it would feel this nice from anyone else.
“All the time.” He responded quickly and with so much sincerity it made your chest seize for a moment. Jungkook cleared his throat, breaking his eye contact with you for just a moment, “I hope Namjoon wasn’t a dick to you.” He spoke, snapping you out of your trance with his touch as you retracted your arm, almost deluding yourself into thinking he tried to hold onto you for a split second.
“He was just being protective of his baby.” You snickered at how Jungkook bristled with the term, “A protective dick, but I get it. I’m a total stranger–”
“Hey, you’re my best friend.” He chided, with a smile that was a bit less strained than before.
You scoffed, “I’m your only friend.”
He shrugged with a more amused grin, “I said what I said.”
You rolled your eyes, “Anyway did you only come to–” You were cut off by your phone buzzing on the table.
Both you and Jungkook knitted your brows at this. It was degradingly rare for anyone other than him or work to call you, “You cheating on me?” He playfully asked and you pushed him by the shoulder before going to answer the call.
You picked up the device cautiously, “It’s a random number.” You said lightly, but something felt wrong. “Don’t tell me I’m about to get a ton of prank calls because I pissed one of your boyfriends off?” You tried to joke as the phone finally went to voicemail.
Jungkook snorted at this, “Yeah, Joonie’s not the prank call type.”
“No way? He seemed like a real court jester.” You sarcastically said, making your friend laugh more.
“A+ on the tone, B+ for the reference.” He chuckled, and you beamed at this. Jungkook spent the first two years of your friendship helping you grasp the ins and outs of day-to-day interactions, so it was nice to see how far you’ve come. “I haven’t heard the term ‘court jester’ so casually, like, ever, but it gets points for creativity.”
“You know me, I’m a real artist- ugh, again?” You looked down at your phone as it buzzed again with the same number.
“Just answer, maybe it’s important.” He reasoned, and you nodded but the idea made you feel sick, “Oh, but put it on speaker I wanna hear if it is a prank call.” He grinned
Pushing the feeling of unease down, you rolled your eyes and answered, putting it on speaker, “Hello–”
“Y/n! Y-You gotta get me out of here, I’m–” Ice water flooded your veins as the man’s voice invaded your senses. Your eyes bulged once you fully realized Jungkook was standing right there, hearing this god-forsaken voice and you gasped before taking it off speaker.
“Who is this?” You seethed, lying to everyone in the room. You’d know that whiny voice anywhere. Goosebumps sprouted along your arms and your stomach churned as your uncle's shaky breathing entered your mind, “How did you get my number?” You demanded quietly as you turned from Jungkook and put some distance between you both.
“Y/n, they found me and I’m–” He coughed and your eye twitched, pathetic.
“Lose my number.” You ordered, moving to hang up.
“I’ll tell them!” He shouted, making you pause. You didn’t even know who “they” were, but you certainly didn’t care to find out, “I’ll tell them who you are, where you are–”
“You don’t know that.” You called his bluff, but fear soaked into your rage, dampening its strengthening effects on your body. You could feel yourself getting smaller with each millisecond of silence that followed.
“I have your number.” He challenged, and you scoffed. That was undoubtedly all he had. Jungyoon had never been built for the mind games, he was the muscle and nothing else, through and through.
“Won’t be mine for much longer, I promise.” You fumed quietly, and the whimper that leaked from him told you that was all the leverage he had, or at least you hoped so, “I’m not the one who was on national fucking TV just so I could watch a stupid fight, so you dug your grave. Don’t pass me the shovel.”
“Wh-How can you even say that I’m–” He tried desperately.
“You must have the wrong number if you’re planning on finishing that sentence.” You forced out before hanging up. You let out a shaky breath before throwing your phone on the couch.
Byungjoo was caught. If he was caught that meant you weren’t safe anymore. Were you ever really safe? Why did you stay in the country? What were you thinking? Did you seriously think Byungyeol would come back from you? Did you seriously stay in the same place he lost you like a child? And now what? You were dead, utterly dead–
No. You were safe. You had to be. You never went anywhere, and your face was never known by the public or that many people in the organization. You were smart, you had–
“Y/n, hey, hey.” Jungkook’s voice cut through the radio static that heightened the panic in your head.
You looked at him, eyes wild but in a state he’s seen before, “I-It…” The words died in your throat as panic held you in a vice grip. Your nails dug into your palm, and the pain did nothing to satiate you as your knees buckled. Jungkook caught you before you could hit the ground, and you almost wished he hadn’t. You’d give anything to feel the pain radiating up your leg, the linoleum against your palms, anything to remind you that you were in your home and not wherever the hell the people who took Byungjoo planned to take you. You steadied yourself, the haze of panic subsiding momentarily, “I’m okay.” You lied, placing your hand on the couch so you could stand on your own.
“Who the hell was that and why–” You cut Jungkook off with a look, a look you’ve both used on each other, a look that begged him not to pry so you don’t have to lie to him, “I just… I’m worried.”
“Don’t be worried.” It came off as more of a plea than reassurance, and you cringed.
Jungkook wet his dry lips as he looked you over. You were talking, but you still had that look in your eyes that promised you wouldn’t be able to for much longer. His chest ached as he watched you try to crush the panic down and put on a brave face for him. More than anything, he wanted to cup your cheeks and promise you it was okay, and if it wasn’t, it will be. He wanted to fix it so badly, do anything to ensure that you weren’t about to break, so against his better judgment, he spoke, “I heard you say something about seeing him on TV, was it that guy from work–”
“Yes.” You said too quickly, and he tensed, “He’s… uh, just unhinged, and it just unsteadied me a bit.” You nodded, the fib burning your tongue, “I guess the principal saw him last night and he got in trouble…” You sighed, it was exhausting to do this, and you didn’t want to have to do this at all, “I don’t know it just…” You simply couldn’t do it. You couldn’t force any more lies out, you didn’t have it in you to do much other than clasp your hands over your ears and squeeze your eyes shut.
Everything you’d built for yourself flashed in the blink of an eye. It wasn’t much, but it was yours. In an instant, it could be taken away, and there’s nothing you could really do about it. You weren’t nearly as lethal as you used to be, and judging by the little you’ve heard about the heads of Bangtan, you’re training would pale in comparison to their abilities. It took them no more than a year to dethrone your father, and you had no doubt it would take them no more than a second to end your life. Now, it was no longer a matter of if, but when they were going to catch up to you.
Disgust infiltrated your sorrow as you watched Byunjoo smile lovingly while his wife, Minji, explained how your deaths would go with a little too much “pep in her step” as she would say to you when you were reporting the gruesome details of a job. She was disgusted with you for several reasons, but she was perfectly fine with your father, so it didn’t make sense when he directed just about everything you did. Nevertheless, you sat straight-faced as you heard the plan. Although you weren’t sure what she or your uncle was so proud of, the plan was quite simple.
You were to burn it all. You were to watch the house you grew up in, the house where you took your first steps, said your first words, and had your first kill, crumble to smithereens with the empire you were supposed to inherit. Something, though, was missing. The list of names of the people who would live to watch the ash and smoke was noticeably… short.
“...Now we will have to get rid of everyone who knows your face, y/n-” Minji explained, that sickening smile on her hot pink lips but the disgust she held for you never left her eyes. You weren’t sure what you did to make her hate you so much, but you hardly cared now that you hated her just as fiercely.
“No.” You immediately spoke, and you could see your father stiffen in the corner of your eye, but you only broke your stare with your aunt when you heard Byungjoo sigh.
He and Minji were the only two that didn’t completely crumble under your unwavering stare, and it was times like these that it irritated you. Byungjoo was the right-hand man to your father, and he was a ruthless man. He loved nothing but money and his treacherous wife, even hated everything but money and his equally soulless wife. One exception, however, was your father, and he only claimed to love you because your father did.
“Y/n, it's for your safety.” Byungjoo explained as if you were a child, as if he spoke to you with any kind of decorum when you were a child, as if you were so easy to pacify when it came to the slaughter of the staff in this house that raised you.
“If you do it, I will throw myself into the fire,” You seethed and Byungjoo chuckled, assuming it was a joke. He always did that. Took your defiance of him as a silly comment or you being a rebellious teen, regardless of the fact that you were about to be 19 and never respected him enough to consider your disagreements rebellions, “I swear on the blood of my father, I will die with those people,” Byungjoo ceased his giggles immediately.
Your father, however, took your death threats seriously off the bat. Byungyeol was not stupid enough to take the little words you spoke as anything other than what you meant. He was the one who taught you not to waste your breath, after all. Truthfully, you weren’t sure if your death would make a difference, but there was that glint in your father’s eyes still that told you he just might care. His dying pride remained intact barely and you, his only child, were his only legacy, a legacy that needed to live on.
Byungjoo may have been a bumbling idiot, but he could see the resolve in his brother's eyes. Minji had no such tact as she clicked her tongue in distaste, “Y/n-”
“Let it go.” Your father’s voice sounded, startling the couple silent while maintaining sharp eye contact with you, waiting for your gaze to waver even slightly. When you remained headstrong he sighed, “Make the list of who lives, y/n, and they will.” He spoke with a finality you’ve heard countless times before turning to your aunt and uncle, “End of discussion.”
You should’ve done it. You should’ve opted to burn. Regret pooled into your senses until it was all you could feel, until the only thing you could see was that beckoning flame, calling your name to come home.
Just as you could feel the sting of tears behind your lids, you felt him. Two hands slid over yours and rhythmic tapping reverberated throughout your skull from above your ear. You slowly opened your eyes, and Jungkook occupied your line of sight. He did you the grace of looking away. You weren’t sure if it was because of the shameful sight in front of you or if it was because he knew you were embarrassed, but you liked to pretend it was the latter.
1, 2, 3, 4
Jungkook swallowed thickly as he listened for your breathing to stabilize. He looked above your head at the clock on the wall and sighed. He was going to be late for his meeting with his team on digging up the whereabouts of the most coveted target. He could easily walk away, but he stayed rooted in his spot, tapping in quartets as he waited patiently for you to calm down. Though he didn’t understand your affinity for the number, and you never disclosed it to him, he was thankful to be observant enough to notice it at times like these. So he watched the seconds tick by as he tapped, pausing for a few seconds in between each grouping, because the thought of leaving you alone like this felt like it would kill him. He already has a hard time sleeping knowing you’re just a few steps away, there’s no way he’d be able to work knowing you were in the throes of an episode. Finally, your breathing was becoming consistently normal until–
“No.” You whispered with something utterly sick to his ears laced in the word. It was fear. You were scared, and he had no idea why. Never in your years of friendship had he seen you truly afraid like this. He looked at you, boundaries be damned, and saw you were fixated on the TV.
Turning his head to see what it was, his entire body froze.
You had left the news on, and on it, Namjoon stared back at you as he conducted a press conference… as head of Bangtan Corporation. It was like your world ceased turning. The pressurized cracks on your life here gave in the moment you looked to Jungkook and realized he saw what frightened you, and you could see the wheels turning on why it could be. No poker faces could be had between you as despair reflected in both of your pupils. You were terrified to discover one of his boyfriends was the head, or at least one of the heads of Bangtan, and he was devastated to find out you knew enough to be afraid.
It was over, for both of you.
