As a lesbian, I have literally never been bothered by the things non-lesbians have told me I have to be offended by.
Ace lesbians? Cool.
Aro lesbians? Swag.
Aroace lesbians? Neat.
Lesbians with split attraction? Wonderful.
He/him lesbians? Sure.
Transmasc lesbians? Whatever floats your boat.
POC lesbians with their identity influenced by their culture? Lovely.
Bigender lesbians? Nice.
T4T lesbians? Amazing.
Butch 4 butch lesbians? Rad.
Femme 4 femme lesbians? Great.
Like there are so many issues we actually face that we'd love y'all to get fired up about, but instead you chose to play identity and respectability politics with members of our community just living their lives and not hurting anyone??? It's wild.
sick and tired of seeing people use zip ties for boning. listen to me i am a costume designer stop using plastic which does not hold your shape (the whole point of boning) you do not need to buy proper coiled boning or anything: go to a hardware store and find flat metal tension spring (google tells me that's what it's called, unfortunately i also don't know what its used for in hardware store related things so i cant describe it if that isnt the correct translation, soz) you can get a roll of 15m x 4mm tension spring for about 15 euros where i live and then you just have to cut it with metal shears (you can use a regular cutting pliers probably but if you have metal shears you will be happier) then either file down the edges a bit if you're genuinely gonna wear it a lot, or you just wind some tape around the edges to make sure putting them in the channels isn't gonna rip your fabric and anyway now you have an actually functional boned garment. go to a hardware store and show them this pic btw:
^ this is what you want. also bc this is 4mm wide around stress points like closures you want to make 2 channels right alongside each other and put in 2 pieces of tension spring for stability
In the deep silence of midnight, the universe revealed itself to its listeners as a vast desolation. What Ye disliked most was seeing the waves that slowly crawled across the display, a visual record of the meaningless noise Red Coast picked up from space. Ye felt this interminable wave was an abstract view of the universe: one end connected to the endless past, the other to the endless future, and in the middle only the ups and downs of random chance—without life, without pattern, the peaks and valleys at different heights like uneven grains of sand lined up in a row, lonely, desolate, so long that it was intolerable. You could go forward or backward as long as you liked, but you’d never find the end.
“you don’t get to tell me about sad” says the girlie completely and absolutely avoiding the fact that thousands of people are DEVASTATED bc their families, lives, and homes are being fucking destroyed, murdered and tortured. but she wont acknowledge any of that sadness….
Ever wonder why you hear ancient stories about wild raging tyranitar burning villages to the ground, but in trainer battles on tv, a well trained lycanroc can get hit by a hyper beam from one and still be standing? Type advantage aside, thats thanks to power seals!
A standard diagram of a heal ball here. The blue rim, in different colors but in all pokeballs, is where your power seal is. PSA: If you ever notice a crack in that, GO TO YOUR NEAREST POKEMON CENTER IMMEDIATELY! Trade machines can exchange the same pokemon to another empty pokeball, and if you tell a nurse joy its because the seal is broken they’ll transfer your pokemon to a new pokeball for free
But anyway, power seals do exactly what it sounds like: they limit the power of a pokemon’s moves, so that in battles you can only ever knock out your opponents pokemon, and that a trainer’s togedemaru shocking you on accident wont literally kill you. Some people forget because they grow up around pokemon owned by trainers, but wild pokemon are way stronger than we give them credit for. Seriously, we don’t tell kids to avoid the tall grass for nothing. A power seal on your pokeball breaking means your pokemon is suddenly at its full power and very likely to actually hurt other pokemon in battles, so you need to get the pokeball replaced immediately
And if it worries you, pretty much all wild pokemon are aware that being caught means their power being limited, even if they don’t know exactly how. Thats why even the sweetest wild garchomp you have a bond to likely won’t just agree to be caught, lots of pokemon want a battle before you can catch them because they want you to prove you’re stronger than the power they’d be giving up
The fun game of which headcanon would I like better:
A) one of the batkids playing welcome to the black parade by MCR and Bruce knowing every word cause of course he does, he went through an emo phase (he's still in his emo phase), he listened to it on repeat when it came out to the point that even Alfred can recite the lyrics, it was his inspiration for the Batman mantle
Or
B) one of the batkids playing welcome to the black parade by MCR and Bruce BECOMING obsessed with it, like he's never heard it before but the lyrics hit him hard and he then forces anyone near him to listen to it on repeat for weeks cause he plays it everywhere he goes, he gets into all their other songs, and he, as a middle aged father of 7, goes through the MCR black parade aspect of his emo phase
Watched "Into the Unknown" again for no particular reason whatsoever, and besides being the highlight of a movie that was meddled into absolute disappointment, I was struck by the genius of this shot as I watched Elsa run toward the edge of the cliff and remembered, "Oh, right, she stops at the edge and reaches out."
But no.
The movie is BETTER THAN THAT and has her make an extension out of ice, showing that Elsa's capable of pushing herself farther than the boundaries nature set for her, and that she's willing to go the extra distance to solve this mystery (which apparently the writers themselves didn't even have solved at the time).
It's just Good Animation. No one else is gonna do that. Every other character is going to stop where the cliff says "stop", but Elsa has MAGIC and she USES IT.
just finished reading the last unicorn, and as much as I adore the film, its honestly so unfortunate how few people I see discussing the book, as the prose genuinely contains some of the most gorgeous, evocative imagery I've ever read
(Image ID: A tumblr post that reads I need minors to learn how to lie online again. Your name is Derek, you’re 25 and work in accounting now. Please for your own safety learn how to fucking lie. And if you don’t want to lie, then don’t put your age anywhere. Don’t even say whether you’re a minor or not. It is perfectly easy to avoid adult spaces without signposting that you are doing so because you’re a child. Stating your age doesn't protect you this only makes you a target.". End ID)
NO. NO. NO.
Can we not encourage minors to lie about their age??? And can we ESPECIALLY not encourage them to lie about being an adult???
Predators do not fucking care if you lie about your age. Predators do not care if you tell the truth about their age. ENCOURAGING MINORS TO LIE ABOUT THEIR AGE ISN'T GOING TO PROTECT THEM.
Hell, I'd argue that lying about your age is only going to cause *more* problems for folks.
Also, saying that sharing your age makes you a target is straight up victim blaming (and fear mongering to an extent too!)
Sharing your age, regardless of if you're a minor or adult, is not going to hurt you by itself. If you're uncomfortable with sharing your age, saying "minor/adult" is fine. Saying that you're above/below a certain age is fine (ex. saying you're above 18).
And if someone is bothering you, breaking your boundaries or if you're an adult and don't want minors interacting (and vice versa), the block button exists for a reason. USE IT.
Seriously it's up to you if you want to share your age publicly or not. At the end of the day the internet is still a very dangerous place, regardless if you share your age or not.
