“In watermelon sugar the deeds were done and done again as my life is done in watermelon sugar. I will tell you about it because I am here and you are distant.
+
Spinning like a ghost on the bottom of a top, I’m haunted by all the space that I will live without you.”
—Richard Brautigan, In Watermelon Sugar

Joseph Ducreux, a French artist renowned for his unconventional self-portraits, could never have foreseen the astonishing popularity his artwork would achieve in the 21st century as internet memes.
NOTE:
Joseph, Baron Ducreux (26 June 1735 – 24 July 1802) was a French noble, portrait painter, pastelist, miniaturist, and engraver, who was a successful portraitist at the court of Louis XVI of France.
He resumed his career at the conclusion of the French Revolution. He was made a baron and premier peintre de la reine (First Painter to the Queen).
He drew the last portrait ever made of Louis XVI before the king's execution.

Cindy Sherman: Untitled from the series
"Murder Mystery People", 1976-2000
info: Cynthia Morris Sherman (born 1954) is an American artist whose work consists primarily of photographic self-portraits, depicting herself in many different contexts and as various imagined characters.
Her breakthrough work is often considered to be the collected Untitled Film Stills, a series of 70 black-and-white photographs of herself evoking typical female roles in performance media (especially arthouse films and popular B-movies). In the 1980s, she used color film and large prints, and focused more on costume, lighting and facial expression. (wikipedia)
