Your fist hovered over the wooden door, unsure why you had suddenly grown hesitant. Your brother told you to see if Sakumo Hatake needed help with his newborn considering his wife died during childbirth. It was an assignment, nothing more. But something within you made you feel funny. You, of course, knew what was making you feel so funny, but you had to push it down.
The door swung open, making you jump in your spot, "Sakumo! Hello. Um…" Your mouth grew dry as he looked down at you expectantly. The area under his eyes was dark and heavy; you could tell he hadn't been getting any sleep. Raising a newborn was hard, but it must have been impossible when doing it alone. He nodded at you, encouraging you to continue. "I-"
A shrill cry hit your ears, and your eyes traveled inside the dark house. Sakumo sighed, "Do you or Lord Third need something? If not, I need to go soothe Kakashi-"
"No! No. That's why I'm here. Hiruzen asked me to check and see if you needed a hand."
Sakumo grew silent at that, eyebrows creasing as he tried to figure out what to say. Kakashi's cries rose in volume, and your maternal instincts made you ansty, "May I?" Your question flew out before you could stop it, he needed help, and you knew he wouldn't ask for it.
He stepped to the side and allowed you inside his home. You moved toward the source of the crying before finally ending up in the nursery. Your lip curled into a sweet smile, eyes crinkling as you cooed down at the white-haired baby.
"Hi there, Kakashi."
Sakumo stood frozen in the doorway as he watched your hands cradle the baby before bringing him out of the crib and into your arms, "Do you have milk? I can try rocking him to sleep" Sakumo nodded before silently leaving you two to grab the formula. You began to bounce Kakashi, coos and sweet words leaving your lips as you slowly calmed the babies screeching until all that came out were little whimpers.
Sakumo returned a few minutes later with the formula and found you already in the rocking chair. You shot him a smile before extending out your hand for the food, "Thank you." Your whisper was soothing even to him, "Why don't you lay down? I can watch him through the night."
He liked that idea. He hadn't gotten much sleep in the past few weeks. Without another word, the older man headed to his bedroom, leaving you alone with Kakashi.

3 Years Later
Over time, you had grown closer to the Hatake family and began dating Sakumo. Your brother was initially displeased with the predicament but accepted it once he saw how happy you were. As Hiruzen looked down at the adoption paper, he realized you loved this family more than anything else.
"Are you sure you want to adopt Kakashi?"
You nodded at your brother before repositioning the child on your hip. Sakumo stood beside you, bouncing on his toes as he waited for Lord Third's approval. Hiruzen pursed his lips as he took in the three of you. "Are you two going to get married?" Your eyes widened at the question. Marriage was never brought up; it didn't seem like Sakumo wanted that. You didn't blame him, either. He had lost his wife three years prior, so even just dating you felt wrong. "I won't sign these papers until you promise to marry her someday-"
"Hiruzen-"
"My sister deserves a family, and a family includes marriage, not just kids."
"Hiruzen, that is not true, and you know it-"
Sakumo cut off your angry words by grabbing your free hand, "I'll marry her. Don't worry about that part of it. Please, though, for right now, sign the papers. She already is his mother, but I want that to be legally true as well."
Your mouth and eyes were wide open in shock as you looked at Sakumo beside you. Was he being serious?
"Very well," Hiruzen called out before plucking his pen from the desk. "I expect you two to be married within the year" Sakumo smiled at that before letting go of your hand to move towards your brother. "Thank you, Lord Third. For everything"
Hiruzen sent a glare up at the man. He really didn't intend for you to fall in love with the older man; all he wanted was for you to help. His eyes drifted over to you and Kakashi. A smile proudly adorned your lips as you held the three-year-old close to you. While Hiruzen didn't like how this turned out, he couldn't deny that your happiness made him feel better. Hiruzen sighed and handed the papers to Sakumo before leaning back.
"Within the year."
Sakumo gripped the paper and nodded quickly, "Within the year. You have my word."
Tumblr media
The rain pounded down hard against your umbrella as you hurried back home with Kakashi. "Mama, do you think Daddy will be better?" Your blood ran cold at the question. Sakumo had done something against the Ninja code, causing many to turn their backs on him. It broke him, broke him harder than you could heal him. Kakashi's fingers dug into your hand at your silence, silently wincing at how the diamond ring bit into his flesh. His dad had been acting funny. Even though he was four, he knew something was wrong.
"I don't know, baby. I hope so," your voice trailed off as your eyes caught sight of the front door of your house. Sakumo was supposed to be going somewhere; you didn't expect him to return so soon. Your heart raced as you got closer. You tried to be around him whenever possible. It was the only way to keep him safe from himself. "Kakashi baby, sit here, okay? Mama is gonna go in quick."
The four-year-old nodded before sitting in the chair on the porch, happily content with watching the rain. Your breath was shaky as you moved into the house, panic rising in your throat as you saw him on the floor. "Oh… no" Your lip trembled as you approached. Maybe he was just sleeping or relaxing.
Wishful thinking.
"Oh Gods," you cried out quietly, hand clasping over your mouth as you took in Sakumo's lifeless form. Your hand shook violently against your lips, pain seeping through you as you thought through what you needed to do. Who do you go to? Kakashi couldn't see this, but you couldn't just leave him. A name flashed through your head, causing you to inhale sharply. He was the only one who could help you.
You knelt to Sakumo, hand lightly brushing through his hair. His skin was cold against your hand, making you feel lightheaded. "I'm so sorry, Saku," you whispered before kissing his temple. Your tears fell onto his face, cascading down his features before landing on the floor below. Realizing that Kakashi would grow antsy and come in, you stood up and walked towards the door.
Kakashi jumped in the seat as you emerged from the house again, "Is daddy in there?"
Your heart lurched at the question, but you ignored it and picked him up, "We are going to an old friend of mine. Okay?"
Tumblr media
The roof extending over his front door did nothing to shield you and Kakashi from the rain. The young boy shivered against you, and you scolded yourself for forgetting the umbrella back at the house. You took a deep breath as you brought your fist up to pound at the door urgently. Retracting your fist, you pulled Kakashi deeper into you, hoping to warm him up. Your hair was sopping wet, and your makeup was ruined. You knew the man behind the door would be concerned. So you prepared for it.
But you weren't prepared for this.
The door swung open, and your eyes widened. The woman before you was scantily clothed, and you fought the urge to cover Kakashi's eyes. "Can I help you?"
"Uh… Is Jiraiya here?"
She pursed her red lips at that before eyeing the child on your hip. "He's busy."
You breathed a sigh of relief, happy he was at least here. "I need to talk to him. Can you please-"
"Jiraiya! Who the hell is this kid!?"
Your eyebrows furrowed at her sudden shift in demeanor, but looking down at Kakashi made you realize what she was getting at. "Oh. No, no, this isn't-"
"JIRAIYA. So HELP ME IF THIS IS YOUR KID-"
"What the hell are you yelling about-"
Jiraiya stumbled out into the hall before freezing at the sight of you and Kakashi. "Y/n" His voice sent you into a spiral as you took him in. He was wearing nothing but boxers, and he was out of breath. You eyed the pair before giving a sheepish smile. "Sorry. Didn't mean to interrupt but-"
"It's okay…" he breathed as he heard the thickness in your voice. He knew you like the back of his hand, and he knew that something serious had happened.
"What do you need, baby?"
"Baby?! Who the hell is she?!"
"Akira, I think you need to go home-"
"Excuse me!? I'm your girlfriend. She needs to go home."
"I need you," you called out between their arguing, not immensely enjoying being the cause of such discourse. Jiraiya nodded before heading back into the bedroom to get dressed. His girlfriend, Akira, as you learned seconds ago, stormed after him. Ranting and raving about how he was cheating on her. He ignored her, causing her to fly out and storm back towards you. "You think you can just come here and take him from me!?"
"No. I'm-" You cut yourself off. Your next word was going to be 'engaged,' it was something you would say to the men at the bar, and it had become second nature when approaching the subject of dating. But it wasn't true anymore. Were you still engaged? Even if he was dead? You let your gaze fall to the floor. "I'm not interested in dating."
You hoped the words would calm her, but they only seemed to anger her. "So you're going to take him from me and leave him?! You're a real bitch-"
"Akira, that's enough. She's engaged."
Akira shut her mouth at that as she let her eyes travel to your left hand dangling by your side. You grew uncomfortable with her staring and adjusted Kakashi on your right hip. Jiraiya brushed past Akira before grabbing your left hand, "Come on. Take me to where you need me."
You nodded before pulling him with you toward your home. Akira still screamed at him, crying out how she'd never see him again if he kept going, but he didn't listen. His only concern right now was you. You, however, couldn't help but feel bad for causing a fight. "So sorry for that-"
"She doesn't matter right now; what's going on?"
His words were sharp with a warning. You came before everyone else; no one could replace your importance to him. You eyed Kakashi, who looked up at the big man with wide eyes, he had never seen anyone so tall before, and while he was shy, he couldn't help his curiosity. "Mama, who's this?"
"An old friend of mine, Kakashi. His name is Jiraiya."
"He's tall."
You smiled softly at his awe-struck face, but it quickly fell once you realized you'd have to explain what happened in a few moments. Jiraiya didn't like that you weren't verbally telling him what was going on, but your actions and demeanor had him connecting the dots.
The house came into view, and you picked up the pace, anxiety filling your chest as you once more set Kakashi on the chair. "We will be right back, okay? Stay here. Do not come in."
"Mama, I miss Daddy."
Your wince went unnoticed by Jiraiya as he entered the house. "I know, baby, I know. Just please stay here and do not come in" Kakashi bit his lip but nodded. Pressing a kiss to his temple, you started towards the door.
Jiraiya knelt beside Sakumo, fingers pressed into his neck as if checking for a faint pulse. "I don't know what to do" Your words were soft as you moved to him. Jiraiya looked up at you sadly as if apologizing for not finding a pulse; it made you sick. "We need to get your brother-"
"What about Kakashi? He needs to know. How do I… How do I even tell him what happened?"
Jiraiya didn't say anything. For he didn't know how to tell a child that their father was so sad he couldn't keep living. He couldn't bear it. Turning on your heel, you headed back to Kakashi. You wouldn't tell him everything, just enough for his little brain to understand.
The cool air hit your face as you exited the house, lips trembling as you prepared for the most brutal talk of your life. "Can I come in now, mommy?" You shook your head before kneeling in front of him. How the hell were you going to do this?
"Daddy's not okay, is he, mommy?"
You shook your head at him, tears brimming along your lash line as you fought the urge to throw up. "Daddy is not okay," your confirmation caused his brown eyes to well up with tears as you ran a hand through his wet hair. "Can I say goodbye?" You winced at the question before shaking your head no at him. A cry flew from his lips, and you drug him into your embrace, "I'm sorry, baby. Just know he loved you more than anything. Okay?" This would be his first time experiencing death, and you would have to help him through it. You had to be strong for him.
There was no time to mourn.
Kakashi sobbed into your shoulder harder as you rocked him back and forth, cooing and promising him that you were there. Jiraiya stood by the door, watching you comfort the child. He knew you would push the emotions down until you exploded. You would put Kakashi first. Rightfully so, of course, but as he watched you both comfort and fight off your own pain, he realized you needed him around.
Akira would not like this.

Mirror Image
Kakashi Week 2022 | Day 8: Remembrance, Family
Word Count: 1,3k
@kakashiweek , Ao3
Summary: Kakashi truly is his father's son.
Tumblr media
From an early age on, Kakashi’s mirror image seemed to haunt him.
Strikingly pale skin in combination with a singular charcoal eye staring at him, only contrasted by the bright crimson in the other socket, a pair of pink lips sitting below and tugged downward and toward the deep black mole standing out from his skin. His chin was as though chiseled by Kami, a product of avid training he indulged in every passing day and night, his muscles trained until they could not improve anymore, creating a sharp jawline. Atop his head sat the most prominent of his features, hair so silver it took on a new glow in the sunlight, streaks of gray mixed in between to give it a richer color, one that stood out even among busy crowds.
There was no denying it, the Copy Cat Ninja was a man with a unique appearance, one that drew the attention of those crossing paths with him immediately, leaving them to never forget the man. His appearance was one that many considered flawless, the obsidian mask he wore on his face was considered to do him a favor more than anything. People regardless of their gender found the man attractive, as though he were a magnet pulling everyone in close proximity toward him, to admire the man of extraordinary beauty.
The man with the Sharingan was a sight for sore eyes for both allied and opposing sides. The tomoe of his Sharingan eye swirled lazily as his body moved ever so swiftly, too quickly for his opponent to even take note of. His muscles were as taut as a bow when not slouching, able to overcome even the most straining of challenges through decade-long training. They merely strained as he climbed the mountainsides of the village, hanging onto one arm with the other tied behind his back. Sweat would glisten his body and make silver strands of his hair stick to his forehead.
He had more than enough admirers, of which he was well aware. They followed him day and night, crossed one boundary after the other to have him hear their countless proclamations of love, oh so vain, he knew them to be. It was his looks combined with the reputation he had built for himself which had people lust after him, their wildest fantasies starring him, and him only.
And yet, in spite of what other people thought of him, Kakashi’s mirror image had his stomach churning upon sight, feeling as though at any moment the remnants of his breakfast might crawl up his throat and push past his pink lips.
Because the face he saw in the mirror every day was not his own, no, but rather, the one of his deceased father.
From the various stories the also silver-haired man had told his son during his times of living, Kakashi knew his reputation to be similar to that of his father when the man had been younger. As his son would later be, Sakumo had been a man of attraction, a man who captivated those who walked past him, pulling their attention to him without a word or action, merely by his presence alone.
During his living times, the man had strikingly pale skin, paired with a matching pair of charcoal eyes that appeared to burn so brightly back in the day, but had dulled to turn a shade akin to coal as he grew older. A pair of pink lips sat below his nose, more often than anything tugged upward into a gentle smile, with no dark mole in sight. As he would later pass down, his chin too was very defined and sharp-looking, and that of a well-trained man, a man who took his occupation as a man of the village rather seriously. In his younger days, a mop of silver hair had sat atop his head, as unruly as it could be. In later years the man had grown it out to become a longer mane, often tied into a tight ponytail that only had the grey streaks in his hair stand out more, giving his hair a new glow in the sunlight.
There had been no denying that the White Fang of the Leaf was a man with a unique appearance, one that captivated and practically demanded the attention of those who came in contact with the man. The man was not easily forgotten, but rather remembered for his appearance of people of all genders, finding themselves pulled toward him, as though he were a magnet.
Throughout most stages of his life, Kakashi truly was his father’s son, it was a fact he was unable to change, no matter how much he tried.
Growing out his hair hadn’t done the silver-haired any favors during his first years in the Anbu. Rather, he discovered that with his hair grown out to past his shoulders, he looked more like his father than he wanted to, more like a perfect reflection of the man whom he held a grudge toward than an individual of his own. Not even a photograph could catch such a likeness of the late Sakumo as young Kakashi did, their features and appearance equal.
No matter how hard he tried to, Kakashi could never forget the face of his father as it was the same as his own, as though they were mere copies of one another, appearance-wise the same person. Unintentionally, they were more alike than either of them could have ever predicted, or avoided in the case of Kakashi. With each day passing, he grew more to be his father, more to be the man who left him, and more to be who he wanted to be as a child.
He wasn’t sure when he had stopped viewing his father as a hero and inspiration, a role model for himself. Whether it had been prior to or following his untimely death, Kakashi could not recall. Memories of what happened during his life were often blurred by the grief he felt, his emotions too much, numbing him even.
Kakashi hid one-half of his facial features behind a black mask, under which more than enough people have wanted to take a peek already. He had always told them off, fear settling deep into his bones that one day someone would mistake him for his father, the man he desperately tried to forget. The other half of his features he now hid behind a porcelain mask which a hound drawn upon it. The mask gave him the chance he needed to hide from the world, hide even the smallest hints of emotions away and become a puppet following orders, someone who did weigh his emotions into decisions, someone not easily swayed.
And yet, once the only Hatake returned home from the long mission, sweat, dirt, grime, and unidentifiable fluids covered and stained his whole body, hiding in every crevice possible, the masks he wore to protect himself he eventually had to remove. His fingers shook as they held onto the Anbu mask before he removed it carefully, placing it down on the cold floor by the sink. Underneath the mask, his face was just as dirty as the rest of his body, even his mask appearing darker than it did before he had left the village. Pulling down that mask, however, cost him more nerve than he would ever admit that it did. It was a painfully slow process, one that had his nerves burning him alive and his eyes fluttering shut, not wanting to face the image in the mirror.
Because as Kakashi pulled down his final face covering to reveal the face underneath, even with how dirtied his face was, it still held familiarity to the face he was so desperate to forget. The dirt did not make his features indistinguishable, and neither did it blur them into something different, into something new. Even underneath all the grime and dirt, Kakashi still wore a face akin to that of his father.
His mirror image would forever remain the only portrait of his father that Kakashi could never destroy.

Sakumo and Obito's Parents* Live AU (7 artworks + drabble)
Team Minato Week Day 3: Any AU. It's not one of the suggested ones, but something I've been thinking about too much :3 @teamminatoweek
Tumblr media
Kakashi and Obito prevent the terrible thing (they've noticed something has been really wrong with Sakumo). Sakumo, having seen Kakashi's horrified face, gets horrified himself at what he was about to do — not to himself — but to his son, and feels remorse about having almost abandoned his son.
Tumblr media
2. After the Kannabi mission, Minato writes one of the most difficult reports in his career. He has to face the parents: Obito's dad and Sakumo. Imagine the moment team Minato returns to the village, but without Obito. Obito's parents, as well as Sakumo, meet them and realize that their son has not returned. Kakashi looks them in the eye and stretches a trembling hand with the goggles in it; they take them, shocked, and feel the sudden dark urge to throw them into something. Or at somebody. The panic. They feel like they're on the edge of a precipice, but a tiny hope that Obito might still be alive — just... lost... just... still breathing — is still there. But then it gets crushed by a detailed report from the team. The eye. Obito's eye. Their son's eye is looking at them from Kakashi's eyesocket, and they don't know what to think. Sakumo doesn't, either. They aren't allowed to look for the body immediately because of secret military operations still going on in the area. They grieve and wait. Soon they get the permission to start their search; grimly, they crush a rock after a rock to get to the bottom, and find… the blood… ninja weapons… pieces of his clothing... Obito's headband… But! NO BODY. And again Obito's parents feel shattered. Did the enemy ninja steal his body? Plucked out the remaining eye? Dissected him? What did they do to the corpse of their poor boy? Obito's parents are too late! Too late… And more weeks of grief and pain ensue. Until Kakashi starts seeing something with his eye. Some cave… After it’s happened a few times, he tells Rin, and she persuades him to talk to Obito's parents.
Tumblr media
3. Thanks to Rin, Kakashi approaches Obito's mom and asks her a few questions about the Sharingan. He has to retell her everything again, but in more detail. Kakashi says that he's been seeing something from time to time, but doesn't know what it is... Obito's mom is puzzled, but suddenly a new tiny flicker of hope springs up in the darkness they've been living in for the past few months.
Tumblr media
4. Eventually, Obito's parents, Sakumo, and Kakashi find Obito in barely-alive Madara's lair. Black Zetsu escapes, but there is somebody who can capture him and seal him off: Kushina.
Tumblr media
5. Kushina loves her secret mission.
Tumblr media
6. Jounin Obito, with his parents. Way later :3 *** And if you've read till this point, I have a little drabble for you for dessert about kid Obito getting to know Sakumo. Big thank you to @professor-of-naruto for fixing my mistakes & all the amazing support!!! 💕 💕 💕
***
On warm days like this, Obito loved wandering around in the village and enjoying the lulling buzz of life. Quite often, these walks resulted in curious encounters and even adventures, and today seemed to be the case too. On the hill near the edge of Konoha park sat a man, staring somewhat sadly at the erratic mess of Konoha rooftops and low afternoon clouds, speckled with gold and pink. It was a man Obito had seen from a distance multiple times, but had never had the guts to approach.
Hatake Sakumo had somehow always looked both rugged and elven at the same time. He was tall and wiry, face sun-tanned, vigor emanating from his broad shoulders and spiky silver ponytail, but his eyes were jaded and thoughtful – too many shadows hiding there. There was a certain sternness about the lines on either side of his mouth, but the most gentle and peaceful smile Obito had ever seen offset the rough look of his face. And now, this very smile and a small nod of acknowledgement worked like a magnetic pull on the boy. Enchanted, he came up to the man and sat down nearby.
Kakashi’s father returned to silent contemplation, and Obito bent his eyes to the ground. That man wasn’t a talkative one, pretty much like his son, but did Obito want to know more about him! Sakumo was probably the only person in the whole world who could elicit a huge, brilliant smile from Kakashi. Not that Obito had actually seen that smile (damn mask!), only the crinkled eyes, but more than once, he’d heard their jolly voices and laughter when the pair of them were chatting about the events of the day.
“Hatake-san, nice to meet you. I’m Uchiha Obito,” he began formally, heart pounding in his chest.
Having pulled himself out of his thoughts, Sakumo cocked his head and gave him another serene and endearing smile. “Obito-kun, huh? You’re Kakashi’s friend, right? I’ve seen you playing together.”
“Um... More like a classmate, I guess?” A classmate who wanted to be his friend. Deep down. Probably.
“I’ve heard a lot about you from my son.”
“You have?” Obito’s eyes grew wide, radiating shock and wonder. Of all the things Kakashi and Sakumo could be discussing... Him? Oh, wait. Kakashi had probably been describing to his dad all those stupid situations that involved Obito, or something... They could be funny. In hindsight. Mortified, he hung his head, digging his fingers into the soft grass. So he knows... knows I’m a disaster... knows that I’m nothing like Kakashi…
“He often grumbles about a certain obstinate Uchiha boy who won’t ever leave him in peace. But I can also see how excited he is, looking forward to the fun that every day with you brings.” Suddenly Sakumo laughed, voice deep and resonant. “But around you my little hedgehog is a little standoffish, isn’t he?” (Obito’s ears perked up: A diminutive? For Kakashi? Outlandish). “I can be your friend instead.”
“Is it... Is it okay?” Obito mumbled, still feeling awkward.
“Of course.”
“Hatake-san… Why is Kakashi such a ‘hedgehog’?”
“Sometimes people treat trivial things seriously, and brush serious things off...” he said distantly. “I wish he saw that someday...”
“What are the serious things?” Obito was puzzled. “Just so that I won’t brush them off.”
“I have a feeling you already know,” he said with a playful twinkle in his eyes and ruffled Obito’s hair. “Maybe one day you’ll teach Kakashi a thing or two. If I fail.”
“What do you mean if you fail?!” Obito almost choked. “He listens to no one but you, Hatake-san! And I – I feel like I’m just always getting in the way. He doesn’t care about whatever I say!”
“I don’t think so, Obito-kun.”
“How do you know?”
“If he doesn’t care, then why is he watching us right now and listening to our conversation?”
“What?” Obito looked around nervously. He might have spied on Kakashi… but the other way around? What?!
“Sorry, Kakashi, but you have to come out,” Sakumo called. “I know you’re there.”
And indeed, Kakashi jumped off one of the trees, looking grumpy. “I have to make it clear that I am not a hedgehog,” was all he managed in his red-eared embarrassment. ***
@cool-thymus and I have more Sakumo and the kids art content (Hedgehog Special) 🦔
And if you're STILL here, feast your eyes on the wacky spin-off of the grimdark Kannabi report art (@poetrywise, you absolutely killed me with the description xD):

Pakkun knows it's time. Has felt it coming for a long while, now.
His muzzle is grey, his joints ache when he tries to climb the stairs outside, so he uses Gai's ramp instead. He can't jump up onto the couch anymore, but that's all right because there are always plenty of cushions for him on the floor.
It's one of the nice things about being back at the Hatake Estate, ever since Kakashi returned with his partner and his Rival shortly before welcoming the little one that totters around, now, knocking into low tables and screaming for his parents.
Pakkun is grateful to have witnessed all of it, grateful that Kakashi senses their time running short, too, and no longer dismisses him unless Pakkun asks.
He doesn't know how to tell Kakashi that it's time. Doesn't know how to grumble the words I love you, but I have to go.
It was never supposed to be like this. Pakkun is a ninja hound, a tracker with an analytical mind and a skill for violence. He and Kakashi made a pact when the latter was still a boy. Pakkun remembers how he didn't flinch as he sliced his thumb open to sign the contract, remembers the strange aloofness he exuded, so unexpected for a pup so young.
Had Sakumo not died, Pakkun imagines he and Kakashi might have maintained a purely professional relationship.
But watching that stoic child crumble into a broken version of the pup he should have been allowed to be tugged at something within Pakkun with a ferocity he typically reserved for missions.
He slept beside Kakashi that night, the way he had once watched over the boy's mother on the eve of his birth. Perhaps it was not exactly a mission, but to protect Sakumo's progeny seemed well within the parameters of his duties at the time.
The thing which blossomed soon after that--affection or respect or whatever it might be--had been unintentional. Without a pup of his own, Pakkun found himself drawn to Kakashi's side increasingly often beyond the scope of missions. Found himself grateful when Kakashi summoned him on his days off, so they could spend time quietly within one another's presence as Kakashi read and Pakkun napped in a sun spot at his feet.
Now, as Pakkun rests on a cushion, watching Kakashi smile with his family as the little boy in his lap unsuccessfully fights off sleep, the creases at the edges of his eyes tell a story of both tragedy and triumph; one Pakkun is proud to have witnessed. To have played an important role in.
He knows he should do something. Make it obvious. That he should lift his grizzled muzzle and say, Boss, to gather the room's attention. Pakkun knows Kakashi would hand his son to Gai or his partner and direct his attention to the little pug he's known all his life, even before his life began.
He's become keenly aware of Pakkun's age in recent months, especially, taking care to spend extra time with him whenever possible.
But Pakkun doesn't want to interrupt the happy moment before him, so he simply huffs a low sigh as he settles his chin on his crossed paws. His eyelids feel heavy, his breath moves slowly in and out, unhurried. He almost laughs because why would his lungs hurry when there is nowhere else he'd rather be?
Bull and Uhei and Shiba and Akino will understand. Bisuke and Guruko and Urushi will not, but that's okay. They will still have one another. Still have Kakashi.
Even without their diminutive leader, Pakkun knows the pack will fight on. Welcome new ninken into their ranks. He knows one day, Kakashi's pup will sign a contract of his own, though he isn't sure the boy will be as composed as his father when he does.
He's inherited all the best parts of both parents, and Pakkun thinks the fact that he's more emotive than Kakashi was at the same age is probably a good thing.
A soft chuckle fills Pakkun's ears and he looks up at Kakashi one last time, notes the twinkling joy in his dark eyes as he listens to Gai tell a raucous story, rocking softly as his son sleeps, face tucked against his chest. Peaceful despite Gai's booming voice.
Pakkun knows it's time. Has felt it coming for a long while, now. He doesn't know if he will stay here, or if his death will act as a dismissal, sending him back to the place where his packmates are.
Whatever happens, he only hopes Kakashi will forgive him for not interrupting the moment to say goodbye. It's too good a moment to shatter with sadness, even if he does wish he could say one more time that he is proud of the man Kakashi has become, of the life he has built.
But Kakashi knows already; words have never been necessary between them to be fully understood. A gift of their pact so many are never lucky enough to experience.
As his eyes slide closed, Pakkun knows Kakashi will understand. Even if he's hurt or angry at first, he's never been one for emotional farewells, either. It is gift enough to know you have been truly cared for. An even greater gift for Pakkun to know Kakashi will be well loved even after he is gone.
I love you, but I have to go. And now I know you'll be okay without me.

Anbu! Kakashi taking his sister
Tumblr media
WARNINGS: 18+ ONLY, incestuous relationship, purity kink, piss mention, graphic noncon, mentions of blood, breeding, female reader, DARK CONTENT-DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT
Tumblr media
Imagine that Kakashi is a nasty siscon. He has always been somewhat obsessed with his youngest sister, after all they were so close during childhood while Sakumo was away on missions. Kakashi naturally took on the parental-protector role.
The trauma and psychological break of losing his team would irreversibly change Kakashi. Even his sister can feel the palpable change in their interactions. He is much more demanding of her submission and stone-cold faced, his sister is the only one left in this God forsaken world that he cares for. When the time comes when Kakashi is in the ANBU, he will see first-hand what happens to beautiful, young girls like his sister that get brutally assaulted. The ANBU is notorious for assaulting and impregnating young women and Kakashi has even joined in on the debauchery.
He comes home after long missions, enemy blood staining his uniform and virginal blood coating his cock. Kakashi immediately goes to the shower to wash away his sins, but his mind always lingers back to that dark fantasy–His sister.
It makes his stomach twist and rage burn inside at the thought of someone tainting his sister in the same way he does to other women. While he feels no remorse for joining in on the gangraping with his ANBU team, he still cannot help but feel murderous at the thought of someone taking his sister’s virginity.
Kakashi absolutely instills terror into his sister. He tells her in great detail what happens to careless dumb girls such as herself when they don’t stay home. He recounts how they would be brutally assaulted and impregnated with bastard children as punishment for not listening to their older brothers. By the end of his rant of explicit details, his sister is already crying into his chest. She begs Oni-chan not to let anyone take her precious virginity. Please protect her honor and never let any harm come to her. Of course, Kakashi swears on his life he would never let another soul touch his sister. However, he made no promises of himself to not touch her.
It may be awhile before Kakashi would act on his lust for his sister. She has grown up to become a beautiful full-figured women. She turns the head of every man in Konoha. It is absolutely sickening to the male Hatake. He needs to punish her for her carelessness; scare his sister into becoming the perfect housewife who would never think of leaving their older brother.
He will have it arranged for some ANBU members to take his sister off the street and assault her. The only rule, no penetration. That rule must absolutely not be broken and her hymen must remain intact. The ANBU will do their job of touching the poor girl: feeling up her body, masturbating and cumming onto her clothes, even pissing on her if they feel like she is not scared enough. Their team captain made it clear–scare the girl to death.
When she wakes up in the disgusting alley with her clothes torn and panties missing, the younger sister is heartbroken and in despair. She immediately seeks out her older brother in comfort, who opens his arms to her. He allows her to cry her little heart out while reminding his sister this was what he warned her about. If she has just stayed home, this would have never happened.
The little scare is exactly what makes the sister stay glued to Kakashi’s side. He no longer assaults women when out on missions with the ANBU, they could never compare to the beauty of his sister. After all, he only fucked them just so satiate his appetite. Now that he has his sister right where she belongs, he no longer feels like holding back his desires.
Kakashi will take his sister’s virginity. Insisting that he must be the one to do it before an ANBU comes and takes her. She is crying and begging for Kakashi to not do it, but he reminds her to always listen to his commands. He is far more gentle with his sister than he was with previous victims, but he can’t help but feel euphoric when his cock bottoms out–touching his sister’s cervix.
The older Hatake wonders if he impregnated her would she stay by his side forever. Everyone would obviously know who the father was, and see that his beautiful sister was claimed. He makes good work to creampie his sister for days, always makes sure she is filled to the brim of fertile sperm. He cannot wait for the day his sister is fat, round with a big belly holding his child. This is exactly where his woman belongs, underneath him.

The Copy Ninja: part 2
Kakashi Hatake imagine (pt1)
Masterlist
Tumblr media
It has been a few weeks since Kakashi found out about baby number 2. You where giving him all the time in the world to tell your son Sakumo about the new additional. But the only problem was your stomach was starting to grow and show.
Kakashi did not know how to tell his son about becoming a big brother. Would he evern understand? Well Sakumo is very smart, a genius. A very jealous genius.
“Kashi just tell him. Is the famous copy ninja that scared of his own son?” You teased as you sat in the hokage office with him. You always made sure to bring him a fresh lunch when he’s working and well when your not throwing up or too swollen to walk through the village.
“Then why don’t you tell him?” He teased back making you laugh.
“I might as well, by the tie you get to it baby will be ere already.” You said rubbing your stomach. You are half way through the pregnancy. This time it was a bit more simple, you knew what to expect. Things where just a little bit easier.
“Lord 7th?” A knock came at the door. You sighed knowing your time with your husband was up.
“I will see you later.” He said as he quickly got up helping you up from the chair.
“Will you pick up Sakumo?” You asked
“Of course. I did promise him I’ll help him train.” Kakashi said placing another kiss on your temple.
“I am making the perfect smoked salmon for dinner. So do not be late.” You threatened him giving him stern eyes.
“Yes of course dear.” He said with his cheeky smile.
Just as he said Kakashi was at the academy gates waiting. He tried to pick up Sakumo most days after school. He did his best to get out of the office on time. He liked the time he got alone with his son, hearing about his day. He also didn’t want to make you walk all the way through the village. The Hatake clan mansion he restored was a little out of the way.
“Papa!” His sound voice yelled as he ran to him.
“Ready for training?” He asked as he handed his son an apple.
“Of course! I want to show you something new I know!” He said between bites of the apple. Kakashi could probably listen to his son go on all day and not get bored.
Kakashi understood his son was only 4 but he was a prodigy just like he was. His son didn’t even have the sharingan but seemed to be able to pick up jitsu very fast.
“watch this!” sakumo yelled before throwing some hand signs. Kakashi followed, the hand signs for the fireball jitsu & lighting? The fire ball that Sakumo blew out was bright blue with lighting. It went far burning all the target on the field.
“Wow Sakumo, did you learn that all on your own?” Kakashi asked looking at his son proudly.
“Kind of. I was practice the fire ball jitsu you taught me. Then I think I messed it up and then this happened.” He said shrugging.
“Sakumo you will be the greatest shinobi. You must not only be strong but smart. You have a lot of important people to protect.” Kakashi said as he kneeled in front of his son.
“I know that. You’ll be really old and weak soon so I have to protect mommy...and you.” Sakumo said his cheeks getting a little pink. He wouldn't admit it but he really liked hearing so much praise from his father.
“Not just mama and me. You have to protect someone else also.” Kakashi said knowing he needed to tell his son about the new baby.
“And Konoha” Sukamo said
“Well yes but there’s someone else. They will be smaller then you and you need to protect them. Your going to be a big brother, they will look up to you. “ Kakashi said as he saw the wheels turning in his sons head.
“I don’t want a little brother.” Sakumo huffed crossing his hands.
“Well your getting one. Mama is pregant and you’ll have a little baby brother or sister very very soon. So you need to start asking like a strong big brother.” Kakashi said taking his sons hand as they started their way back home.
“Why are you and mama having another baby? Am I not good enough?” He asked not daring to look up at his father.
“Sakumo, do not say things like that. We love you so much. But mama and I have so much love that we want to share it.” Kakashi started to explain.
“Gross” His son mumbled not wanting to hear about whatever it was Kakashi was trying to explain.
“Sakumo, you will make a great big brother. Just wait, once the baby is born you will feel so much love.” He said laughing a this son.
“Is that how you felt when I was born?” He asked.
“I have never felt so happy in my life. You are the one who made me a father, thats why I gave you my fathers name.” Kakashi said making Sakumo smile. Maybe having a little sibling wont be so bad.
The months went by pretty fast and soon your where almost too big to do anything. You weren’t sure if you where happy or angery that your water broke in the middle of the night. You where happy because Kakashi was right there.
“We need to grab the over night bag. Also I need to shower really fast. There is lunches and dinners made just in case I’ll be in the hospital long. And Sakum! Whos going to stay with him? What about getting him to school?” You panicked trying to pack your bag.
“Don’t worry, I called Naurto, he’s going to watch him and get him to school. Sakura is already waiting for us at the hospital.” Kakashi said trying to be calm for the both of you. nothing really faced him, he already planned everything to make it less stressful for you.
“Mama where you going?” a small voice spoke. You say Sakumo standing in the door way in his pajamas.
“Little mochi is coming. I have to get to the hospital. and you’ll be a big brother by the morning.” You said as you tried your best to lean down. You where too worried to leave him alone.
“That must be Naruto.” Kakashi said as he heard a knock at the door.
“No I want to go too.” Your son whined.
“Naruto can bring you in the morning.” Kakashi tried to reason with his son.
“No” Sakumo was very stubborn like his father.
“okay let’s go please.” You cried feeling the contractions getting a lot closer. Kakashi picked you up as Naruto took the little copy ninja.
Labor was easier this time around then the first. But it was still long and painful night. Kakashi stayed by your side the whole time.
Naruto sat in the waiting room trying his best to distract Sakumo. Naruto was 18 when Kakashi told team 7 about you being pregnant. He knew this little kid all his life. It was weird seeing Kakashi as someone more then his sensei. It was even weirder to have a little Kakashi try and boss him around.
“Do you think I will be a good big brother?” Sakumo asked Naruto.
“Of course. I always wanted a little brother or sister. But then I got team 7. Their my family now.” Naruto said not too sure what to say.
“You did so good love.” Kakashi said brushing your slightly damp hair back from your forehead. The room was filled with a small cry as sakura cleaned off the baby.
“How are you feeling?” He asked still worried about you. Your charka was lower then normal. You weren’t a ninja so he always worried for you.
“Congratulations, you have a beautiful healthy daughter.” sakura said handing you the small baby. Kakashi say next to you with doe eyes watching his wife and daughter.
“Welcome to the world Rishi.” You said as your hand ran through the silver hair. Your daughter opened her big dark eyes looking around.
“Good job Kakashi, the great copy ninja of all the lands. made another damn copy.” You teased before gently handing the baby to Kakashi. He looks so odd with the baby. She was so small compared to his large stature.
“She looks a lot like me doesn’t she?” Kakashi said with a smile.
“Can you get Sakumo?” You said as Kakashi handed the baby back to you. He thought you’d want to rest but he knew better then to not listen to you. He walked into the waiting area smirking to find Naruto spawned out on the chair with Sakumo on top of him asleep.
“Uh- Naruto. Is this how you watch over a kid. He is a sneaky one. The things he could’ve done when you where asleep.” Kakashi teased as he kicked Naruto leg to wake him up.
“Oh Kakashi Sensei. I was just resting my eyes.” He said rubbing his neck as Sakumo woke up.
“Do you want to go meet your baby sister?” Kakashi asked taking his sons hand.
“Naruto did you hear that! I have a little sister.” Sakumo said excitedly, no signs of sleep leaving.
“Better go check on her and your mom big brother Sakumo.” Naruto said with his famous grin.
“Thank you Naruto.” Kakashi said before leading his son back tot he hospital room.
“Mama!” He yelled as he ran into the room.
“Come here baby.” You said as Kakashi easily picked up your son putting him the bed gently next to you.
“I’m not a baby, I’m a big brother now.” he said as he leaned over your lap looking at his sister.
“She’s so cute” He said in awh. He couldn’t believe she was real.
“She looks just like you when you where a baby.” You said smiling.
“Really? I don’t think I was that small” He asked with big eyes.
“Of course, you and Rishi are little copies of papa.” You said smirking at Kakashi.
“Maybe your next little sister will look just like mommy.” Kakashi said giving you a wink.
“Mama you already have another baby in your belly?!” Sakumo asked with wide terrified eyes.
“No your father thinks he’s just funny.” you said sending your husband a glare.
“Maybe we will have to keep trying till we get one that looks like you?” Kakashi asked making you smack his chest. He couldn’t help it, he loved his family, he loved you for giving him this family. He wanted to stay in this moment forever. And he already noted that he will keep putting babies in you until you had your own clan.

What if Sakumo had lived and how much did Kakashi's life change after Minato became Hokage?
[Part 5]
"Did you want to see me, Hokage-sama?" - Kakashi silently entered the office and quietly closed the door behind him.
Minato looked away from the documents and looked at the teenager.
"Yes, thank you for coming so quickly", - Minato put the folders aside and motioned for Kakashi to come closer. - "I need to discuss something with you."
Kakashi nodded and involuntarily straightened his back.
"I want to give Obito the rank of jonin", - said Minato.
"He will be overjoyed", - Hatake grinned, imagining his friend’s face.
"Obito has been working hard lately. I think he fully deserves it", -Minato bound his fingers and put his chin on them. - "There is something else."
Kakashi silently waited for the continuation. He noticed traces of fatigue on the Fourth Hokage's face. The work was not kind to him at all.
"I want Obito to lead a new team of three", - Minato broke the silence. - "And I also want you to join the ANBU and become the captain of my personal guard."
Fourteen year old teenager froze in one place, stunned.
"New team?" - the teenager frowned in confusion.
"The three of you have done well on missions under your leadership, Kakashi. But if Obito plans to become Hokage in the future, he needs to gain experience in leadership."
"Do you want me to join ANBU?"
Minato sighed heavily and closed his eyes for a few seconds.
"I understand that I've been putting too much on you all this time. I left you as captain in my place. You couldn't help but feel the weight of responsibility. But now I ask you for more. Many in the village believe that I am unworthy of the title of Hokage. With you as my right hand, I would feel much more stable. I need you in ANBU, Kakashi."
Kakashi covered the distance and stopped in front of the guy. Minato looked up at him with tired eyes. Kakashi tried to give his face a determined and at the same time calming expression.
"I will always be on your side, sensei", - the teenager got down on one knee. - "And I am honored to be your right hand."
"Thank you, Kakashi", - Minato exhaled with noticeable relief and smiled. - "Now, won’t you run after Obito?"
After Kakashi found Obito and brought him to the Hokage's office, dusk began to fall on the village. The teenager headed towards the house. All the way he thought about Minato's words.
"I’m home", - he said automatically, closing the front door behind him.
The delicious smell of food reminded him that in today's chaos he had missed lunch. Sakumo's cooking skills improved a lot after he took several lessons from Duy. But despite his hunger, Kakashi barely touched his dinner.
"You’re too thoughtful today", - the teenager heard his father’s voice. - "Something happened?"
"Minato sensei is disbanding our team", - no matter how hard Kakashi tried, he could not hide the bitterness in his voice. - "He wants Obito to become captain of another team, and for me to join ANBU."
"ANBU?" - Sakumo put down his chopsticks and bound his fingers. - "Minato wants you by his side."
Kakashi nodded.
"What's bothering you?"
"I…" - the teenager sighed heavily. - "I don’t want our team to disband."
Kakashi looked away. Sakumo pursed his lips.
"We worked well together", - the teenager continued. - "And I’m used to always being with them. I'm used to the fact that I'm nearby and can always protect them. And now I will work alone, while they will be in a team with people they don’t know. I… worry about them."
"It’s completely normal to worry about your friends, Kakashi," - Sakumo said slowly. - "You worry about them and want to protect them. But, unfortunately, you won't be able to always be there for them."
"I know", - Kakashi answered barely audibly. - "I’m just afraid that something might happen to them when I’m not around."
"I'm sure Obito and Rin can take care of themselves. They may be just as confused as you right now. You need to talk to them and give them confidence. You're a great friend, Kakashi."
Kakashi winced and looked up at his father.
"Do you have friends, father?"
"Don’t worry about me, Pup", - Sakumo smiled at his son. - "I have one and it’s quite enough. Finish your dinner before it gets cold."
Kakashi nodded and picked up his chopsticks.
"Thank you, father."
The next morning, Kakashi stood in Minato's office in full ANBU uniform.
"Kakashi, please take off your mask", - Minato asked. - "I have great news. You are the first person to know about this."
Kakashi nodded seriously.
"Kushina is pregnant," - Minato said quickly and smiled widely.
"Congratulations!" - Kakashi felt himself smiling back.
"Thank you", - the guy sincerely thanked. - "I have a first mission for you. I want you to guard Kushina throughout her pregnancy."
Kakashi froze in shock. Of all the people in the village, Minato decided to give this mission to him - to protect the life and health of Kushina and the unborn child. Emotions quickly changed on Kakashi's face. He still hasn’t answered anything, trying to put the information in his head.
"Kakashi", - Minato’s soft voice brought him out of his thoughts. - "There is no person in this village whom I trust more than you."
The teenager held his breath and bowed deeply.
"I won't let you down, nii-san!"
"I believe you," - Minato smiled at the usual address; it seems that Kakashi didn’t even notice how he called him big brother. - "Do you know when your uncle is coming back?"
"No", - the teenager shook his head. - "I can send Pakkun to him."
"I will be very grateful to you. I want to tell Jiraiya sensei this news as soon as possible. I don't have much to do today and I'm already heading home, so you can start your mission tomorrow. In the meantime, rest."
Kakashi nodded goodbye and left the Hokage's office. He headed to the nearest training ground and called Pakkun. Having conveyed the message to Ninken, Kakashi looked after him thoughtfully.
"Rival!" - he heard a loud voice behind him.
A few seconds later, Guy materialized opposite him.
"You look somehow different", - Guy carefully examined the teenager from head to toe.
"Minato sensei appointed me to ANBU", - Kakashi nervously moved his shoulder, he was still not used to his new form.
"Cool!" - Guy threw one fist up. - "You never cease to amaze me, Rival!"
Kakashi felt his cheeks turn slightly pink at the seemingly simple compliment.
"Will you sit down?" - Kakashi patted the ground next to him, Guy immediately sat down. - "I have great news."
"Anything even cooler than your promotion?" - the teenager was sincerely surprised.
Kakashi nodded.
"Kushina-san is pregnant."
Guy opened his eyes in surprise.
"Congratulations, Kakashi!" - he exclaimed loudly and hugged a teenager in his arms.
"Are you congratulating me? Why?" - Kakashi said barely audibly, trying to get out of the suffocating embrace.
"What do you mean why?" - Guy pushed the gasping teenager away from him and looked carefully into his eyes. - "Your little sister will be born soon! Or little brother!"
"Little brother?" - Kakashi asked in bewilderment in a hoarse voice.
"Or little sister", - Guy added in a serious tone, and then smiled brightly. - "You will become an older brother!"
Kakashi blinked in shock.
"I…"
"I can already imagine you with a little baby in your arms", - Guy sighed dreamily, still not letting go of the teenager’s shoulders.
Kakashi remained silent, ignoring Guy's passionate monologue. Too many events happened in these two days.
***
Kakashi walked quickly towards the Hatake family residence. Minato returned home a little earlier and let him go, knowing that today all the teenagers were going to celebrate Obito's birthday.
"Kakashi!" - a loud voice came from behind the teenager.
Kakashi skidded to a halt and looked around.
"Do you have a minute?"
"You know that we are a little late for your birthday, right?" - Hatake asked, raising one eyebrow up questioningly.
Obito ruffled his hair in embarrassment and laughed awkwardly.
"Something happened?" - Kakashi immediately tensed.
"No!" - Obito shook his head negatively and put his hands in front of him. - "I just... wanted to talk to you."
"Okay", - Kakashi narrowed his eyes skeptically. - "About what?"
"Well, you know", - Obito’s eyes nervously darted around. - "You are now in ANBU, I was given a different team, and Rin decided to stay to work at the hospital. I... now I will spend less and less time in the village. Although I would like to stay here longer..."
Kakashi sighed tiredly.
"Get to the point."
Obito flinched when he heard Kakashi's sharp, commanding voice.
"I know that Rin is in love with you", - he said suddenly. - "And I know that you like her too. Now you will spend more and more time together while I am somewhere far away on missions..."
As Obito continued to speak, Kakashi noticed a flash of green color out of the corner of his eye. Hatake swore quietly and frowned.
"Obito, stop, shut up", - he interrupted his friend’s monologue. - "I don't like Rin. And she's not in love with me."
Obito froze, stunned.
"Just ask her out, idiot!" - Kakashi finally said before disappearing into thin air, leaving his discouraged friend alone.
Kakashi landed silently on a tree branch. As he had expected, Guy was training at his favorite training ground. He practiced his blows with a completely unreadable expression on his face. Sighing heavily, Kakashi jumped to the ground.
"Yo."
Guy flinched and put too much force into the blow, breaking the wooden post. Kakashi swallowed. Guy stood still for a moment, then turned to him, a broad smile shining on his face.
"Rival! Have you come to challenge me?" - the teenager exclaimed too loudly. - "What is it this time? Rock climbing? Arm wrestling? Or maybe…"
"You heard everything", - Kakashi interrupted him.
Guy's smile faltered.
"Yes", - the teenager lowered his eyes to the ground and shrugged his shoulders embarrassedly. - "Sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, I was just passing by."
Kakashi took a step forward when Guy immediately took a step back.
"In any case, even though I had no right to overhear a conversation about your personal life, this is still great news!"
Kakashi frowned. He tried to catch Guy's eye, but he stubbornly did not look at him.
"You... both of you deserve to be happy. I..." - Guy paused, and then added in a muffled voice. - "Happy for you."
"It’s not like that," - Kakashi said quickly. - "I don't like Rin."
He immediately felt a prick of shame. This is the second time this evening he has uttered these words. He really liked Rin, but never in a romantic way. He always treated her like a sister.
"And Rin was never really in love with me", - he continued. - "In fact, she has been liking Obito for some time, and this idiot can not understand it. They are even worse than Asuma and Kurenai. Those two don’t announce their relationship, but at least they confess to each other, and these two will be beating around the bush until the end of time."
Guy remained silent, which made Kakashi very nervous.
"So, you don't like Rin?"
"No", - Kakashi shook his head to be convincing. - "Actually, I..."
"There you are!" - they heard an exclamation and turned towards the voice. - "Everyone was already tired of waiting for you and sent me on a search."
Genma leaned his shoulder against the tree and cast a lazy glance at them.
"How long will you stand here? We’re late for the party."
Guy shrugged and stretched his lips into a smile.
"It's not good to keep friends waiting."
Kakashi was still trying to catch his eye, but the teenager had already walked towards Genma. Hatake sighed heavily and followed him. Guy noticeably took the lead, while Kakashi and Genma walked leisurely behind.
"Interrupted some important conversation?" - asked Genma, the senbon clutched in his teeth flashed brightly in the moonlight.
Kakashi chuckled.
"Don't pretend like you didn't hear anything."
Genma smirked at the edge of his lips. They continued walking in silence until they reached the cafe. The loud voices of their friends could be heard from the establishment.
"If you break his heart, I’ll break your face", - Genma drawled slowly, making Kakashi freeze at the entrance.
"You know that this will never happen", - Kakashi gave him a serious look.
Genma shrugged. There was a barely hidden worry in his dark eyes.
"I know, but I still have to warn you. I am his best friend. And I will protect him from everyone. Even from you."
Kakashi nodded silently and entered the cafe, still feeling Shiranui's gaze on his back.

i saw this and this is SO perfect for shikako: "ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem" (with the sword, she seeks peace under liberty) - maybe something with the shikabane-hime in the gardens-verse?
Okay anon, I did learn a few things about this phrase, specifically: The phrase is often loosely translated into English as "By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty." The literal translation, however, is "she seeks with the sword peaceful repose under liberty." The "she" in question refers to the word manus from the full phrase manus haec inimica tyrannis ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem, which means "this hand, an enemy to tyrants, seeks with the sword peaceful repose under liberty."
Which, you know, is VERY in flavor of my usual “let’s murder Danzo, that’ll take care of at least 95% of the world’s issues” as seen within the Shikako Nara’s Guide To Delinquency and Military Insurrection series which is basically where I put all of my messing around in the Gardens-verse.
But I find myself interested in the, hm… steps of translation for the phrase… like, the original specifically saying “this hand, an enemy to tyrants” which is then removed from the final phrase. However, the final phrase does still keep the sword and also specifically says peace ONLY under liberty.
So my interpretation of this is: once “this hand, [she who is] an enemy to tyrants,” goes away, all that remains is the sword, ie violence, and the prioritization of liberty over peace. Which actually makes me wonder if… hm… I wouldn’t necessarily say a “dark turn AU” but a… pessimistic version of the “let’s murder Danzo, that’ll take care of at least 95% of the world’s issues.” What happens to Konoha as an institution after Danzo is dead and all of his machinations are brought to light?
ESPECIALLY considering how much he claimed to be merely following the Nidaime’s vision. Imagine the repercussions! The implication that Konoha has been so twisted and rotten from its founding. And I’m not saying it’s a return to the Warring Clans Era, because it’s not as if the clans would necessarily rekindle any issues with each other, but how much of the village infrastructure is suspect? How many people did Danzo influence either with the ROOT seal or with Shisui’s eye?
How many clans then think, we are not free under Konoha?
For example, the twins vows when becoming genin prioritize clan, then allies, then teammates, then the village. (I know they had different vows, but I think that’s roughly the order of priority for both of them?) But I can’t imagine—given Hatake Sakumo’s treatment by Konoha when he saved his teammates and “started the war” (although I do have Danzo-related headcanons for that, of course)—that vow would prevent a court martial or disciplinary action.
So if being a good soldier of Konoha contradicts being a good member of the clan, then the existence of Konoha itself is a contradiction to a clan’s existence—I am, of course, exaggerating for the sake of the premise, and I guess what I’m saying is that the premise is:
Shikako killing Danzo does solve a lot of problems, but then unleashes a whole lot of other problems which, unfortunately, a single murder will not solve. Might be multiple murders. Or maybe a war. Whoops.
Because! The fact that the phrase wasn’t shortened to just “Peace [Only] Under Liberty,” the fact that the “by the sword” part was kept is interesting. But a sword without a hand behind it, a sword without an enemy to target, is just an unsheathed weapon that could harm allies or yourself.
So that is the premise, but I don’t know what the plot would be, per se…
OR maybe this is a universe in which someone that ISN’T multiverse-traveling Shikabane-hime clocks Danzo’s rancid vibes and kills him but without a plan to deal with the fall out or a way to deescalate the situation. Like… if it were Shisui and/or Itachi who killed Danzo but in a kind of panicked way. The Uchiha clan is already SO SUSPICIOUS to the rest of the village (at least, that’s the impression they’ve been given) so they can’t come out with a laundry list of Danzo’s crimes and everything will be fine.
Okay, this isn’t the prompt necessarily, but the idea of two freaked out teenage Uchiha just panic whispering to each other over the corpse of Danzo who they just killed while Shikako watches from the shadows, bemused, because… well… they beat her to the punch, but also they have no idea what they’re doing. It’s very funny.

Guardian (Part 4)
Jiraiya x Sarutobi!Reader
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12
Synopsis: Your brother gave you an assignment, "Go ask Sakumo Hatake if he needs help with his newborn." It was a simple task, but it snowballed into so much more.
Naruto Masterlist: Here
Tumblr media
A knock sounded out through the man's apartment. He looked up from his scroll, ears straining to check if it was his imagination. His eyebrows furrowed as the knock sounded out again. No one ever came to visit him; this must be urgent. The knocks slowly turned desperate, and he moved swiftly towards the front door. Not bothering to look, he flung the door open as the visitor's fist came down. It almost slammed into his chest, but he quickly caught her wrist. He chuckled down at her wide eyes before letting her go finally.
"What can I do for you, Y/n?"
Tumblr media
Your e/c eyes were wide as he dropped your hand, his cold skin causing goosebumps to erupt along your arms. "Long time no see… How have you been?" Your breathing was shallow as you took him in. He was dressed down for the evening, only making you painfully aware that you had come so late in the afternoon. "I've been better. You?" Your attention sharpened at his answer before nodding at them as if silently telling him you were in the same boat. Silence fell between you, making you grow nervous under his sharp gaze. This was a bad idea. "Is there something you need?"
A nervous giggle fell from your lips before you could stop it. His eyebrow shot up at that, and he bit down a smirk threatening to appear on his normally stoic face. His golden eyes practically begged you to answer him, as if he was dying to know why you decided to show up on his doorstep after years of no contact. Your eyes dropped to your feet as embarrassment crawled up your neck.
He couldn't help but cock his head down at your shy demeanor. How long has it been since the two of you last kissed? He couldn't remember, but being this close to you made it painfully evident that it was too long. That he had gone for far too long without you beside him. His hand caressed your cheek, and your head snapped back up to meet his gaze.
"Do you think you can train me?"
With how fast you caved under his gaze, it was as if he had put a spell on you. You then realized, as he inched closer to you, that you were no longer 18, and this was no longer acceptable. Letting out a sheepish laugh, you backed out of his embrace. "I'm asking only as a friend. I apologize if you thought this was anything more than that, Orochimaru."
The pale man shot a tight-lipped smile down at you but backed up anyway, hoping to play off his failed attempt at seduction as if he was just testing you. "Just wanted to make sure. Training, you say? How long have you been out of the Ninja world anyway?" The question was double-sided as it would have answered his other question - when was the last time you two kissed?
"Oh… Let's see. I stopped a couple of years before Sakumo… eight, maybe?"
Eight years. How did he manage to survive that long without you anyway? Orochimaru nodded as he leaned against the doorway, "And you want me to train you? Aren't you with Jiraiya-"
"We are living together, yes, but that's it. He's also way too busy to be training me again…."
You trailed off, but he remained silent, watching you as if trying to predict your next move. You sighed in exasperation, quickly remembering why you distanced yourself from him in the first place. "Listen, if you don't want to, that's fine. I can just ask an academy teacher-"
"Nonsense. I'll do it. Meet me at the training grounds after you drop off Kakashi for school tomorrow. We will start with the basics; I want to see how much you still remember."
His heart lurched as you broke into a beaming smile, "Oh, thank you, thank you, Orochimaru!!!" You exclaimed before flinging yourself onto him. He grunted as you hugged him tightly, but before he could return it, you had already separated. He tried to hide the blush forming on his cheeks, but thankfully, you were heading back toward your apartment without giving him any more attention.
"I'll see you tomorrow!"
Orochimaru let out a breath of relief as you disappeared from his line of sight. Training you was going to be complicated. But keeping his cool was going to be much harder.

Kakashi Week 2022 | Day 3: Broken Fang
Word Count: 1,6k
@kakashiweek , Ao3
Warning: mentions of death, suicide & graphic descriptions
Summary: There was no going back to minutes before, Kakashi quickly realized, because what was broken would remain unsalvageable.
Tumblr media
Kakashi could remember the day his childhood ended vividly. As though it were a memory burned into a vinyl played on a broken record of his life, it continued on and on without coming to a halt, still as graphic and intense as the day it happened. His mind was clutching onto the vibrant last image of his own flesh and blood, of the man who was supposed to raise him into the Shinobi he had always dreamed of being: an exact mirror image of the man whose blood was staining the floor of their home crimson.
His small and nimble fingers wrapped around the long silver hair with several strands stained a bright ruby red, a shade that easily transferred to his pale skin. Each time he desperately pulled at the hair to evoke some kind of reaction from his father, the red spread more and more through the silver. More than the man ever did, he appeared almost foreign to Kakashi, like someone the young boy did not really know anymore. The face underneath the facade his father had worn for the last few months was like the mask had slipped off to reveal the sunken face underneath, combined with skin paler than Kakashi’s and more wrinkles than mere months before making his features appear older. His mouth hung open like the man had been startled or had inhaled deeply, his chest falling ever so slowly as air escaped through his mouth.
His father- no, the decaying body of the man who once was his father smelled of despair. Around it lingered the scent of forgiveness and hopelessness, misery, distress, and heartache mixed in between.
The cold hardwood floor had Kakashi’s knees aching terribly. He no longer could feel the coldness seeping into every muscle of his body, tainting his pale skin a colour to resemble blue. By now, his limbs felt almost numb, unmoveable, and rooted into place, his eyes staring blankly ahead as tears decorated the corners of them. His fingers were still partially tangled into his father's hair, no longer to evoke a reaction, but rather to hold onto the reality of things.
At that moment, Kakashi thought he truly was going mad.
It had to be a dream, hadn’t it? His father, not the man onto whose body he was holding, would never do such a thing to him, to his only child, his supposedly beloved son? The man who had become a widow shortly after his birth, who vowed to always be there for his child, the same man wouldn’t do such a heinous thing, such a rotten thing to his own flesh and blood.
Hatake Sakumo, the White Fang of the Leaf, his father, he wouldn’t do such a thing … or would he?
The facade the man had worn had practically been stitched onto his features, and now it lay in shambles beside his son. His hands had turned a stark white and the muscles clenched to a point that even if Kakashi had dared to try, he would not be able to move them away from the knife protruding from the man’s stomach. It was easy to recognize the weapon as one of the knives from the kitchen in their home, the same one his father had sharpened just the day before.
Could Kakashi have known?
The blood on his young hands had begun to dry by now, resting in the creases of his hand for him to later scrub away along with his skin. The young boy did not care much, his hands shaking as he reached out for his father, to try to get the man to wake up. His mind was in shambles, making up things that were fibs, the furthest thing away from the truth. His pair of charcoal eyes, a perfect copy of the ones of his father, were playing along with the deception, showing him what he perceived to be movement, his father’s chest rising again.
And yet, his father was no more, only his decaying body remaining. The stench already made it obvious, wafting within the room and smelling of a mixture of blood, fluids, and a metallic aftertaste. It made breathing difficult and had Kakashi coughing more than once, bile beginning to claw its way up his throat.
Kakashi’s jaw clenched hard to keep himself from throwing up. The anger and frustration building up in his small body were too big to be held within, and desperately searched for an outlet. Unintentionally, he bit down on one of his front teeth with enough force to have the milk tooth fall out sooner than expected, blood beginning to seep out of the wound. For a moment, Kakashi thought about swallowing the tooth, but then pulled down his mask to spit it out instead. Loudly, it landed on the wooden floor and stopped beside his knee, the ectodermal organ appearing all bloodied and even broken into several pieces.
Kakashi wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, ignoring the sticky feeling of the mixture of his own blood and spit against his skin. Then, he swallowed harshly and adjusted his mask again to conceal a sob pushing past his lips. It got stuck in his throat instead, feeling all heavy and searching for release.
Carefully, he picked up the pieces of his milk tooth and took them into his hand, pushing them around in hasty motions as though he could make them whole again, form what had once been, have the pieces be as they had been before the tooth broke apart. Though, no matter how hard he tried, no matter how much he adjusted the placement, the pieces did not fit together anymore, almost like they weren’t meant to. There was no going back to minutes before, Kakashi quickly realized, because what was broken would remain unsalvageable.
With the tooth in hand, he clenched his hand closed.
He was the only living person in that room, beside him, there was no one else anymore, and there would never be someone again. Of his clan, of the Hatake, he was the last, and more so than ever, the crest neatly stitched onto his clothing felt heavy and itchy against his skin.
Kakashi had always been rather mature for his age, and that much was obvious to anyone who took only one glance at the small boy or heard him speak for less than a minute. Beyond his age, he was wise and intelligent, able to figure out things his peers and those older than him could not.
Death, however, was incomprehensible, even to a prodigy such as himself.
For what felt like hours, Kakashi could merely stare at the rotting body sprawled across the floors of his home, the place where he was supposed to feel safest. The stench had crawled through his mask by now, leaving him shaking with tears pooling in his eyes, occasionally falling down his pale cheeks before soaking his mask. Why exactly he was crying, Kakashi could not tell. He only knew that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t stop. The tears just kept coming, rolling down his cheeks one by one, the only proof of its existence the tracks they left behind all the way to the edge of his now wet mask. His vision had begun to blur by now, only the outline of his father’s body visible to him. The entire image, however, was already burned into his mind, destined to remain there forever.
Kakashi thought that until the next day was to arise, he would be stuck in the room with his father, unable to move even one muscle. His body was fixated, and his muscles had clenched so hard, that he could not move them no matter how hard he tried. The frigidness of the room no longer affected him, his body entirely numb.
Loneliness was an emotion he had never let bother him. With his father by his side, Kakashi had never felt like he had experienced it. And yet, here he was, alone in the room, the only sensation keeping him grounded was the milk tooth in his clenched hand, pressing against his skin. Nothing besides the tooth he could feel, the rest of his body entirely numb to any feeling. He was holding onto it tightly as though it were worth something, as though it hadn’t just ended, as though it were still a piece of him. It was the only thing keeping him stable at that moment, keeping him somewhat sane.
And what felt like days had gone by since he had walked into the room, a large presence announced itself at the door. The shadow was large from what Kakashi could tell and had he been able to turn his head around, he would’ve seen the aghast look the large Sannin’s face took on.
Stuck in his own body, the voice surrounding him sounded muffled to Kakashi. A pair of large hands heaved up his small body, not even half the size of the large man, and pressed his small face against the shoulder of the man. Later in life, Kakashi assumed it had been done to hide away the sight of his father’s body from him, not knowing that it was too late already.
The sight, the smell, everything was a part of him now, one he could not erase from his memories.
The last thing Kakashi could remember from the day his childhood ended was being carried out of the room smelling so strongly of blood, bodily fluids, and metal, with the unsalvageable pieces of his milk tooth pressing against the now calloused skin of his palm.

Chiyo and Sasori - She neglected him out of guilt and fear
Tumblr media
Sasori is a character who was introduced early in the first part of Naruto Shippuden. His parents were killed by Hatake Sakumo when he was young, and he was consequently under the care of Chiyo (and her brother - and his granduncle - Ebisu, most likely…yet their relationship is not shown on-screen), his grandmother.
Chiyo, however, does a grave mistake when it comes to Sasori’s parents. She learns of the fact that they were killed, and…
Tumblr media
She keeps this information from Sasori, believing him to be “too young” to know about their death. On one hand it is considerate of her to do so, on the other hand she put herself in a very uncomfortable situation emotionally.
Not only because she had to lie to him every time he asked about his parents (and I can imagine that he asked ever so often), but because she probably had no true idea what to do the moment Sasori might/would figure out the truth.
Instead of telling him the truth she tells him that they are away on a mission (or that they were given a new mission, as stated in ep. 27) and that they will eventually return. Even worse, the one scene we get to see Chiyo says “well, they’ll be gone a little bit longer…”
They will be gone a little bit longer.
The lie itself is a terrible thing, but to phrase it the way she did - a little bit - makes it taste even more bitter.
That is giving Sasori a hope that does not exist.
She keeps him waiting, and Sasori obediently does just that. Growing up very lonely - and impatient (not liking to keep other people waiting, nor liking to be kept waiting) - as a consequence.
Tumblr media
Look at him - he’s so sad…
While Chiyo did her best to be there for Sasori, her constant lies were actually cruel.
What is the greatest insult to Sasori, however, is the fact that Chiyo treats him as if he is stupid. He might be a child - and of course it would have hurt him to know that his parents were dead - but he is not stupid. Far from it.
He was hailed a prodigy in the art of puppetry, after all.
And…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He created puppets in the likeness of his parents to not feel so lonely. And yet they could do nothing to ease the emptiness within him. They could not replace his longing for his real parents.
“Sasori had already figured out, that his parents were dead.”
Chiyo actually hurt Sasori more with her lies than if she had just told him the truth from the beginning. We do not know for how long the lie lasted either, but she probably lied to him for 1 to 2 years at best…and quite a few years at worst.
Chiyo was put in a very painful position, but her way of handling it was certainly not the best. Not only was she grieving the loss of her son and daughter-in-law, but Sasori was a constant reminder of her loss. Not only was he the child of her son, he looked just like him (but with his mother’s brown eyes).
But what she ends up remembering the most is the sorrowful - empty - gaze upon which he gazes at the puppets.
Tumblr media
Ep. 319 (filler - I am aware of such and yet I, for one, appreciate some of the fillers that the anime team gave us - this is one of my absolute favourites) expands on Sasori’s past. After the above scene we are shown how Sasori works on his puppets. The peace and quiet is being interrupted by Komushi - a young boy who is shown to treat Sasori like a friend. Komushi asks Sasori about the puppets requested by Chiyo (The Crow, Black Ant and Salamander), and this implies at first that his role is more than being just Sasori’s friend - he acts as a messenger between the two of them. This is later plainly stated by Chiyo herself.
“Oh well, I might as well wait until hell freezes over to get a response from you.”
One thing that is of interest is the fact that Sasori ignored Komushi for a long while. Only when Komushi mentioned that he “has a message from Granny Chiyo” did Sasori stop his tinkering and listen. The message in question was about the above mentioned puppets, and that they were needed quicker. Sasori only points towards said creations, resuming his tinkering near immediately thereafter, while also mentioning that he “does not like keeping people waiting”.
That Komushi acts as a messenger indicates that the relationship between them is strained. Extremely so even. But does it come as a surprise?
Not really.
Chiyo could have asked about Sasori’s invention herself, no? He is her grandson after all. But that she did not.
And the proof just how strained their relationship is follows the above mentioned scene. Komushi mentions that Chiyo wonders about the poison for the Crow puppet, and Sasori hands him a sheet of paper with the formula for the toxin he intends to make. The toxin in question must be approved, however, by his superior - who is Chiyo herself.
Komushi tells Sasori that he will negotiate with Chiyo about the toxin - and to give him “some time”. Sasori turns away from his friend and immediately tells him that he does not want to wait. Komushi grins - tells him “then let’s go!” - before rushing off. Sasori merely watches him in silence - looking mildly dumbfounded at his friend’s suggestion.
Now, while Komushi urged both of them to go - Sasori could have remained in his workshop and let his friend handle something that Sasori himself could have done…and yet…
Tumblr media
This particular scene showcases just how little Chiyo understands her grandson. And it also showcases how she pushes him away - intentionally even.
This scene was a bit tricky to capture in a still frame. At first Chiyo only sees Komushi and so she asks him if he has “relayed her message” - and then Sasori appears. She becomes quiet, looks a tad surprised - apprehensive even - at the sight of her grandson. This indicates that he probably spent most (if not all) his time in the workshop and seldom showed himself. And that him being here now was quite the exception.
One could say that Komushi had a knack for persuading people to do his bidding, but considering Sasori being the way he is…he had probably another reason to appear before his grandmother.
Chiyo reads through the formula, and mentions that “there is not much I can say without knowing the blending ratio of the mixture”.
It is here that Chiyo makes another grave mistake.
Having read through the formula she looks at Sasori - remembering his empty gaze that gazed upon his father and mother puppets - before approving the request without asking for specifics. She could have asked about the mentioned blending ratio - Sasori stood right there in front of her - but she spoke as if that was not the case.
Sasori is shown to be a very tacit individual - he barely speaks and would probably be lost in his own world (creating puppets) if not for Komushi. When it comes to the toxin, Sasori went there personally (with some slight urging from his friend) but nevertheless…he followed him. The relationship between Sasori and Chiyo is shown to be terribly strained, even cold, so why would Sasori go to the person that lied to him for (presumably) years?
Because she was the only family he had left at that point. And he cared about her, deep down. He mentioned in ep. 27 that he would not care if Chiyo would die…and that alone indicates that there was a part of him that still cared about her. If he truly did not care about Chiyo’s fate, he would not have wasted breath mentioning it. He would have just gone ahead and killed her like he was capable in doing.
It is while Chiyo is healing Sakura that we get the clearest indicator that Sasori cared about Chiyo despite everything that had happened since he left the village 20 years prior to their reunion.
“It’s a jutsu I spent originally years creating for you…one that only I can use. With this jutsu life can even be breathed into puppets…In exchange for the life of the caster, that is…But in hindsight, it’s a dream that won’t be realized…”
Sasori, hearing these words, is visibly shaken. And there is a symbolic tear in the form of blood falling from the corner of his mouth.
While he probably resented Chiyo for lying to him - a part of me thinks that he could forgive her for that - as he sought her out (as shown in ep. 319) in an attempt to get an interaction between them, after all.
Him going to see his grandmother was Sasori’s subtle way of trying to mend a relationship that (not yet) was beyond repair.
But Chiyo - by approving the toxin immediately- denied Sasori the interaction he could not state plainly because he was extremely stunted emotionally and socially. He probably wanted her to ask him questions, show interest in him and his inventions (she was a toxin specialist when young and she was the one who taught him the art of puppetry in the first place) - but instead of threading on the path of reconciliation, she pushed him away. Intentionally.
Once the toxin was approved Chiyo near immediately dismisses the pair because she is “in the middle of research” but whether entirely true or not is hard to say. She was seen reading a document before Komushi (and Sasori) disturbed her, that’s true, but is it “reading” or “research”? Both most likely. It does not change the fact that she asked them to leave, though.
While Sasori hoped that Chiyo would understand the unspoken in him appearing before her, she misread the situation entirely.
Or…on one hand she did, but on the other hand she probably thought that she would make Sasori’s life easier if she just agreed to his request - she had denied him the most important “request” of all, after all (an answer/the truth). Agreeing to his request was partly done out of guilt I can imagine - so to ease her own consciousness. And part of her - as much as she tried to not show it - was terrified of that empty, haunted look in her grandson’s eyes.
Because she knew that she shouldered most of the blame for Sasori being lonely, for him feeling empty and trying to fill the void within him with his puppets.
She tried to cheer him up, but completely neglected the fact that Sasori needed human contact rather than only his puppets. He needed her.
Tumblr media
This scene follows immediately after the above mentioned scene. He looks so sad, disappointed even that he did not get the result he had hoped for.
It had to hurt having Komushi mention that Chiyo had to be “so proud of you” and that she was “always worried about you” - because from Sasori’s side he probably felt that the complete opposite was the case, as Chiyo did not talk to him. They did not speak with one another (if it was not absolutely necessary), she did not praise him (at least not in person)…he must have felt like an orphan despite having family left.
Did they live together? That is not made clear. If they did I can imagine that they both (perhaps Chiyo more than Sasori) went out of their way to avoid one another.
Chiyo approving the toxin - without questioning Sasori about details - would end up having severe consequences the moment Komushi was wounded during his guard duty - losing part of his arm.
He was given a puppet arm by Sasori. It was shown to be quite the invention, with a blade and the ability to release the very toxin Chiyo approved without much hassle.
Tumblr media
She is terrified of her own grandson. Of his empty gaze and his mind that was creating puppets terrifyingly close to real humans.
Now, whether Sasori wanted to murder Komushi intentionally or not, is up for interpretation. If we take Chiyo’s words at face value she is convinced that Sasori tried to get his only friend killed intentionally - that it was not just a “coincidence”. I personally do not believe that Sasori wanted Komushi dead, it was all just a terrible accident.
Komushi - knowing that blame would fall onto Sasori - mentioned that he “is not to blame”. That it was he (Komushi) who ingested the poison by accident.
But whether it was murder or not - Komushi dies under Chiyo’s care, as she does not know the blending ratio of the poison Sasori created, and therefore there is no antidote at the ready. What is even more chilling is the fact that Chiyo mentioned that she would clear it with the “Pharmaceuticals Division” and when Komushi is dying she asks about Sasori and if “we have the blending ratio for the poison yet”, this implies that either she did not speak with the division about the poison (perhaps because the toxin was too complex to find an antidote for?), or she did and Sasori later tweaked the ingredients.
One scene that can be used as an argument for Sasori wanting Komushi dead, is when the latter visits him and mentions that the puppet hand Sasori has created looks “real”. Sasori looks at Komushi’s hand (who moves his fingers to mimic the movement that Sasori made the puppet hand do). To me it looks more as if Sasori is contemplating how to make his puppets more “humanlike”, and it is here (most likely) that he began to contemplate the use of real humans and if it was possible to make them into puppets. But he was probably more inclined to do the opposite still: make puppets into humans so to say.
I honestly believe that Sasori at first had good intentions with him creating puppet parts that were more like human anatomy - but his pure desire morphed steadily into the worldview over which he and Deidara would fight over. Him making more real puppet protheses was very likely the first step into eventually deciding to make himself into a puppet. It was there it began in my opinion - his obsession with preserving “life” and “beauty”.
“Heal him! Please! You attached his right arm, too? Then his left arm can be…His legs, his body…You can even heal his soul, can’t you?! Give him back to me! Heal my Komushi and give him back to me!”
Komushi passes on and with him dies Chiyo’s link to Sasori. She contemplates the situation, before rushing to Sasori’s workshop when remembering how Komushi told her about Sasori creating human parts that looked like “real human hands”.
She finds him there…and she also finds that Sasori has made Komushi into a puppet - like it was “requested” of him by Komushi’s mother.
He has - in a way - restored his soul. Like he was “asked” to do.
Tumblr media
The beginning of the Sasori that we got to know in Naruto Shippuden all the way back in Ep. 21 when his real face was finally revealed.
Chiyo admits by the end of the episode that she, indeed, pushed him away. That she made excuses to not be there for him when he needed her the most.
While all he wanted was to be embraced by his parents once more, I think even an embrace from her - back then - would have done so much to keep him on the “healthy” path.
But Chiyo didn’t. And she realized her many mistakes only when it was too late to truly say how much she regretted her treatment of her only grandson.

You know how Kishimoto revealed that Kakashi was originally going to speak like a Samurai, ending sentences with the verbal tic "de gozaru" much like Naruto does with "dattebayo" and Deidara with "un"?
Right, well I had an idea:
What if it was a Hatake thing that Kakashi had picked up from his father, a remnant of when the Hatake were a Samurai Clan?
And what if, as one of only two living Hatake, the verbal tic was strongly associated with Hatake Sakumo, the White Fang, in particular? At least amongst Konoha nin.
And what if Kakashi intentionally made an effort to drop if after his father's suicide, to further distance himself from him? Much like the headcanon about Kakashi wearing his mask to hide how much he looks like Sakumo.
More fun ideas:
1. What if it slips out when he's drunk? Can you imagine? Most people's speech gets more casual or coarse when drunk, but Kakashi? No, Kakashi gets alarmingly polite. It freaks people out and confuses the hell out of them at the same time.
2. After Kannabi Bridge—after Obito knocks some sense into Kakashi, after Kakashi stops trying so hard to be so different from his father—he tries to pick it back up again, but it's been so long that it's annoyingly difficult and winds up taking a long, long time for Kakashi to be able to use it casually again without having to think about it beforehand.
3. Kakashi spent so long repeatedly forcing himself to say it again in an effort to pick it back up that when he's disguised as Sukea it just sort of...slips out. Whoops? Accidental face reveal? Let's just hope there weren't too many people around to hear him say it, since everyone knows there's only one person in all of Konoha who ends their sentences with -de gozaru.

She stands back from the fire at first when the boys finally meet them (too soon. Far too soon) but kakashi spots her in the dark just like he always had. And what chance did she have not to be buried under the weight of her brothers (what were they all eating that they had gotten so damn tall.
one soul in two bodies, the closest someone could be to another person without cracking their chest open to crawl inside (she wondered one day if one of them would. Would take that final step to rejoin their hearts until they were one whole being again.) they had taken different approaches to the hatred
Seeing two Byakugan split between two faces. Knowing that the eyes once called the true heart of a dojutsu user were swapped between the two in actuality.
Sasuke constantly stuck in a game of catch-up he never seems to win. Chasing after distant goals and figures he can barely see, let alone match.

Farmer Kakashi au
Imagining Naruto, just a little kid with no family and no food, walking past the Hatake residence and seeing all of the vegtables growing
And Sakumo spotting him and (Like Teuchi) deciding to do something about this lonely kid. So the next time he see’s Naruto passing by he actually has a bag full of vegtables that Naruto kind of crinkles his nose at, but it’s ok. Sakumo has a plan!
He offers to have his son cook something up with the vegetables that Naruto might like, and Naruto agrees without hesitation.
So for bow he leaves with some carrot to much on, which tastes better than any carrot he has had before, and the next day he is presenting with a yummy stir fry with noddles and so many vegetables that Naruto would usually refuse to eat, but which smell absolutely delicious
