divergence begins in new moon — bella's parents were less hands off, and seeing her reaction to breaking up with her boyfriend of less than a year, immediately put her in therapy. this helped build a more solid foundation for her to lean on upon, which keeps her from leaning too heavily on jacob and keeps her head clearer upon edward's return. while she did skip town to go to italy and help alice stop edward, she sees his actions as less of an incentive to be together and for what they really are, which is a glaring red flag. while at first she tries to continue the relationship when the cullens return to forks, she quickly realizes that the obsession she feels over his attention is not healthy, and decides that distance might be more beneficial.

divergences throughout eclipse — while the events of the book do continue as written (victoria's revenge scheme unfolds the same and the shapeshifts/vampires work together to stop her), bella is not romantically entangled with either jacob or edward, shooting down any advances that come her way. she is grateful to both for helping her survive victoria's plot, and she believes the cullens when they assure her that the volturi's threats might take decades to come to fruition. due to this, she begins applying for colleges that actually interest her, rather than pursuing something just to be with edward.

the events of breaking dawn never occur — bella attends a culinary arts school in new york city after she graduates high school. she keeps in contact with the cullens and the pack, bonded with them regardless of her lack of romantic interest. but after a year and a half of school, the volturi come to call and there's no stopping them from taking her. she is turned by the volturi, and while their initial interest is in her shielding ability, she only stays with them for a singular decade before convincing them to allow her to leave. from there, bella becomes a more nomadic type of vampire, choosing to travel and see the world. she visits the cullens on occasion and she does see charlie, despite the tension that her secrecy causes, but she refuses to endanger him with the truth.

The other day, I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook version of Rosalie Gilbert's "The Very Secret Sex Lives of Medieval Women." I found Gilbert's writing style to be very humorous, especially for the subject material. Now, I'll be honest, much of what was written I guessed or already knew about as somebody who does quite a bit of research on the time period but the information was presented in an entertaining manner with jokes, quips, and story-telling here and there. The book highlighted the experiences of cisgender women mostly and touched upon intersex folk and lesbians towards the end. Much of what the author wrote in regards to sex crimes and rape against women felt very much tale as old as time, unfortunately. This isn't a dig at the author, but rather a familiar feeling of what it is like living in an era in which men commit the worst crimes against women and get away with it. This book is a bit of lighter reading than some others, but I'd still recommend it.
