So. I went on a RvB fanfic binge, and reread a lot of my old faves. But I also found some I hadn't read before which was a pleasant surprise.
Remember when the fandom had rec days? Anyway, I just want to shout out two fics
"Dinner and a Show" by twspoilers
and
"Mouse Trap" by Clockwords
Both really scratched my itch for Grif feels, so good.

i've been on this website for around thirteen years now and it's incredible how little the "this week is going to be a shitshow, gotta search up some recs to have at least 100k worth of fic in the chamber" emotion has changed in that time

The Impetus of Trust
Relationships: Lavernius Tucker/Agent Washington, Dexter Grif/Dick Simmons, Leonard L. Church/Agent Texas, Agent Carolina/Agent York, Sarge/Franklin Delano Donut
Summary: Agent Washington was part of an elite program that existed to make hunters even stronger against werewolves. He was told this was done to make the world a safer place, but when all his friends begin dying off he learns this was never the case. Doing what he can to survive Washington follows orders to Blood Gulch where he must work with the local pack to save lives, but he knows he can never trust them. Because how can he trust a rag-tag group of idiot werewolves when he couldn't trust his own human friends? Unfortunately, or fortunately, this group seems to have a way to break down other people's walls and force themselves inside so Washington finds himself caring more than he should. However, there's no way such a thing can last when even more people in the town begin to be ritualistically murdered and Washington can only trust himself to do what's right.
aka a Teen Wolf Tuckington fic that no one asked for
Please enjoy my new fic The Impetus of Trust which is basically Teen Wolf mixed with Red vs Blue. If you know Teen Wolf then you'd get some of the references but you don't need to know the show to enjoy it.

Just finished (what there is of) the fic Breaking Time by @ragamuffiin
It’s fantastic, one of the best fics I’ve ever read honestly and definitely good enough to be into own standalone book. The tuckington really hit so good and was so well developed. There’s definitely lots of blood and violence so be aware of that before delving in, but I still highly highly recommend and love it.
I’m sure most rvb fans and tuckington fans have already read it or at least heard about it, but it was so good and well written I just had to talk about it 💙💙 hope it can get even more love is all. The only thing not written is the epilogue and I will wait on baited breath till it is out but even without that final piece it’s a fic worth reading. So thank you to the author for writing it, truly a man amazing couple of weeks of reading for me.

For the WIP ask game, could you do 🌀, ☔, and 🌤️? :D
absolutely !!!
🌀Post the fic summary for a fic you haven't written/published yet. It can be hypothetical or something you really plan on releasing...
At the end of RvB Season 9, Church let's go of Tex by forgetting her, erasing her from existence. But what if that wasn't what Tex wanted? What if instead, Tex clung onto existence out of sheer spite, driven by her hatred for The Director and her desire to see him dead? And what will happen when she wakes up on Chorus, The Director dead, Church missing, and the Reds and Blues wary of her? Who will she become-- is she truly destined to fail over and over again? Or, released from the shackles of what Church and The Director view her as, can she be something more?
Okay so technically this fic is published, just unfinished! But I plan on rewriting it from the beginning. It's your typical "What if x character lived" AU, but it's one I've wanted to do for a very long time. I do so love Agent Texas from RvB, she has been a blorbo in my head for over a decade now and I plan on cranking out this fic during NaNoWriMo before moving on to some One Piece fics!
☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
I really wanna do an AU where the Revolutionary Army finds Robin at a young age, but I just cannot wrap my head around the logistics. I know it's an AU, so I can do whatever I want, but since we know so little about the early days of the Revolutionary Army and Dragon, I've been putting it off in my head because I worry about canon being so widely different from my own headcanon ;-;
But I do think it's a cool concept, and one I haven't been able to find on AO3 (Although if anyone has and has recs, send them my way!). The moment I saw Robin's backstory I started a joke with my partner about Dragon being her biodad, since she and Luffy basically share a same braincell, and I think it'd be fun to write a story where Dragon essentially becomes like a father to Robin, and she can, in turn, be a big sis to Sabo.
🌤️Share your favorite piece of dialogue from your WIP.
I don't currently have any dialogue in my active WIP, which is basically Robin sneaking onto the Going Merry and reflecting on Alabasta and the life she's been forced to keep living so uh... Have this paragraph I wrote that has stuck out in my head since I wrote it:
Staring up at the showerhead, she sighed and ran a hand over her face, eyes closing. How exhausting it was, living. Dying was much simpler. You didn’t have to worry about the future, or what it would hold. All you had to do was have faith in the ones who remained.

I was recently reminded of Fic Rec lists and got the urge to make one, and since it’s Tucktober and Dr. Love could use a little love, I thought I’d try to put together a fic rec list of Tucker-centric fics. (Might do some for the upcoming character months if I’m feeling up to it :D)
This list is going to be a bit of a mix of things I have bookmarked, friend recs and trawling AO3 looking for older works that don’t get much love today. If you don’t see something you think should be on here, please reblog and add it! I did my best but am only one person and my energy is limited. :)
Here’s the listing format for your convenience:
Title (link) | Author | Rating (as per AO3) Ship/Characters | Warnings/relevant tags/info (AU, graphic violence, smut) Completed Y/N | Word Count Summary
Heavy Weather | Shir_Khan | Rating: E Church/Tucker | Modern AU, Natural Disasters Complete | Word Count: 28,841 Summary: Given that Church and Tucker only interact once a year when storm season rolls around, they’re really closer to acquaintances than actual friends. But if Church is going to spend days at a time cooped up with another person, he prefers it to be someone he won’t end up strangling, and that’s slim pickings.
An Ace Or Two In Space | LilRadRidingHood | Rating: T Tucker/Wash | Temple of Procreation fic with a twist One-shot | Word Count: 980 Summary: The Temple of Procreation didn't work on either of them, but it ends up bringing them together anyway.
giving up the ghost | eggstacy | Rating: T Tucker, Some Tucker/Wash | Major Character Death, AI Hallucinations/Unreality One-shot | Word Count: 2,879 Summary: Tucker got a lot of judgment through his life and that didn't change when he joined the military. Getting transferred into this fake-ass simulation war might've been a demotion on paper, but meeting the first person to call him out without thinking less of him for it made all of the humiliation worth it.
Bitter Pill | Goodluckdetective, Hinn_Raven, RenaRoo | Rating: M Tucker/Wash | Graphic Violence, Time Travel AU, Bad Future Complete | Word Count: 38,735 Summary: During the war, Tucker goes missing. Ten years later, he shows back up again. Chorus is on its last leg. His friends are either dead, captured or scattered. And Tucker is still Tucker.
Machine Learning | Cosmobot | Rating: T Tucker, Church | Emotional Hurt/Comfort One-shot | Word Count: 4,597 Summary: Tucker has some things he needs to say. Church has some things he needs to hear. Neither of them particularly want to talk about it, but they do anyway. Sort of. There's maybe more yelling involved than there should be.
Gone | RysingSun | Rating: M Tucker | Graphic Violence, Child Neglect One-shot | Word Count: 7,278 Summary: Needing to access a MacGuffin, Tucker is sent through some of his most difficult memories. No matter how scared and alone he feels, his friends are there for him when he comes out the other side.
Too Quiet | InfernoTornado | Rating: T Tucker, Carolina | Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Drinking One-shot | Word Count: 5,030 Summary: Tucker wants to finally have that drink he talked about having with church... but Church is gone, and he doesn't want to do this alone
Green Team - And Cunningham Fell | ShyChangling | Rating: M Tucker, Green Team | Canon Death, Canon-Typical Violence One-shot | Word Count: 1021 Summary: Tucker never wanted this. Tucker never wanted to be the damn leader of any one. Least of all... when it comes to this.
Enough, Enough | Eggstacy, saltsanford | Rating: M Tucker, Blue Team | Graphic Violence, Torture Complete | Word Count: 46,403 Summary: The mission is a disaster, of fucking course, because they hadn’t had enough of those in recent years.

Fanfic Author Self-Recs!
Tagged by @chocochipbiscuit to rec five of my own fics! Thank you for the tag!
This was surprisingly difficult, as I sort of wanted to go multi-fandom for this one, and I found myself looking at all the fandoms I've written for and having a hard time choosing which to focus on!
A Pot to Piss In. Dragon Age, Sera gen backstory fic, 41K, rated M. Definitely my favorite DA fic I've written so far. It was so, so much fun and it's a huge love letter to Sera's character and has a lot of side OCs I loved writing and I'm just so stinkin' happy with it.
No Woman Rules Alone. Dragon Age, Anora/F!Tabris, 34K, rated E. The longest exchange fic I've written to date and the one that I feel like really solidified my love of writing about politics (and femslash, and Tabrises) in this fandom. It was an incredibly fun project and I'm very fond of it.
The Drop Trilogy. Red vs. Blue, Maine/Carolina, 240K total, rated E. My RvB OTP fic, the longest project I've ever written for fandom and one that's still really close to my heart. It's about Maine, it's about the Meta, it's about Maine and Carolina, it's about isolation and loss and abuse and sorrow and hope and redemption.
Inroads series. Red vs. Blue, Carolina/Kimball, 74K total, various ratings up to E. Carolina's adventures in self-sabotage, and a relationship that might actually work out despite her best efforts! My main Kimbalina series, three one-shots and a longfic, taking place before and during season 13 (which made it an absolute nightmare to plot and I'm so proud I actually managed to make it work). I'm especially proud of the longfic, The Way We Win, but I'm still fond of the one-shots as well and it's probably best to read those first for context.
Cast Your Bread Upon the Water. Fallout, Dr. Madison Li/Star Paladin Cross, past Madison/Catherine/James, plus Madison & female Lone Wanderer, 26K, rated M. This is a fic I wrote for a Big Bang, and is illustrated by my good friend @ialpiriel. It's a story about Dr. Li in the late days of Fallout 3's story, after the Enclave takeover of Project Purity, as she confronts her past with James, the present life his actions have once again left in shambles, the complicated feelings stirred up by meeting his daughter, and a connection with an unlikely companion.
Tagging @ialpiriel, @farfromdaylight, @rosella-writes, @darethshirl, @rakshadow, and anyone else who'd like to play.

I finally finished it... the "idea" I had for these two went and got ENTIRELY out of hand, turning into a whole story. Also, in the middle of typing it up, I saw your notes for your own plans for Birds of a Feather, and- Ahh! I knew Simmons was having that problem with his feathers! Seriously, it was very satisfying to see how that was going to play out, and I also very much enjoyed reading through all your other ideas. You always take the characters in really interesting directions, ones that are very different, and yet feel true to who they are. For the idea I had, the concept of what Simmons did, and Grif later getting hurt, was VERY similar, but I went in sort of a different direction (and I got all sappy and tender with the emotional bits, because I'm just like that). No expectation or obligation for you to read it, but if you ever feel like it- https://rubykgrant.tumblr.com/post/721814064001695744/cozy-and-safe-infernotornado-red-vs-blue And seriously, thank you so much for sharing the original story, it's still one of y favorites~
Aah I can't belive someone would write such a long piece inspired by something I've written! I love it (I love the winged boys so much, and, god, if RvB was still alive, I'd love to revisit them). This was such a great piece, I love how much they care for each other while trying to hide it. Thank you so much!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written (or if you don't have five, then just your favs), then pass on to at least five other writers. Lets get that self esteem boosted ❤
Of course no pressure to answer this, its all for fun :)
Getting an ask from one of my favorite people on this site and I get to talk about some of my fics? Well don't mind if I do
As I'm going through my works I'm really starting to see that most of my content is just fluff of my favorite Freelancers from rvb. I might have a problem *squints*
Freelancers React to red vs blue - There's no real plot to it, just some deadly soldier blurbos reacting to a ridiculous show that impacts their lives. This amassed a huge following which I'm not really sure how that happened
No Step On Snek - A little one-shot I wrote for my creative writing class when the prompt was to write a fanfiction piece and I based it off an incorrect quote I did. I also really like sneks
Game Night - This was a secret santa for someone who wanted fluffy/crack piece for a quirky group of soldiers who's downfall brought me so much pain. I had so much fun writing this and it's genuinely one of my favorite works that I've created. Just some sillies playing some very domesticed games for the soul
Northern Lights That Gave Us a Second Chance and a Home - A fluffy au fic I wrote in which I brought some previously dead people back from the dead and let them live a normal life. I made this for another secret santa and for me when I was in deep denial over these characters' deaths
Hugs and Parties - I really love this one because the way the Twins' bond was torn apart in the show just devastated me. I have a brother and I can imagine ever do anything to really hurt him. So this spawned from a place that wanted to see happy siblings together before canon sinks its claws in
This was pretty fun. It was nice remembering how much I enjoyed writing these fics and I hope I get to continue to defy canon for a long time yet!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
Oh man, what a question. I tried to pick a piece each from a different fandom to mix it up a bit:
The Devil Went Down to Georgia (Overwatch)
Ship: McHanzo or Hanzo/Cassidy Summary: Fifteen years ago, Jesse McCree made a deal at a crossroads for someone’s life. Now, the creature has come to collect. Why I like it: I still think this is one of the best things I’ve ever written. The plot here is solid, I managed to showcase how important McCree/Cassidy is to Overwatch as a whole and I think the horror bits land well. I need to update it with new names but otherwise it holds, despite some bits being jossed.
Letters to Nowhere (Supernatural)
Ship: Destiel, Sam/Eileen Summary: AU Post Inherit the Earth. After God is defeated, Sam decides to text the one person they're still missing with regular updates. Castiel can read them when he gets back. Because they are getting him back. This isn’t Chuck’s story anymore. They’ve lost too much to him as it is. They’ve won: it’s time they feel like it. And act like it too. Why I like it: I tend to stay away from writing multi chapter works because I’m bad at finishing them, but this is one piece I managed from start to finish. My goal here was to write something that felt like it could be close to canon and while I do think it’s a little too sappy for that, I got as close as I could. Also, I adore the Chuck sections.
Smile, You’re Trending (The Magnus Archives)
Ship: Jon/Martin Summary: During an encounter with another Avatar of the Eye, Jon faces his past, Martin takes a turn at playing Kill Bill and Basira has a second look at the monster she’s determined to see. For three people associated with the Eye, they could all use some perspective. Why I like it: OCs in fic is always a gamble, especially if you want them to hold a chunk of screen time but here I think I managed it. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on my avatar I used in this story as an antagonist and I think she works well!
System Failure (RVB)
Ship: None Summary: It starts like this. The Director needs your help. It ends like this: exactly how it starts. Why I like it: This is the best horror piece I’ve ever written, hands down. It fucks.
Tamper Proof (Ace Attorney)
Ship: Wrightworth Summary: Miles Edgeworth does not ride on elevators. It is perhaps this reason that he is the first to notice that Phoenix Wright does not drink from pre-opened containers. Why I like it: I tend to write only small little things for Ace Attorney but I think this is one of my better ones. I wanted to explore Phoenix’s trauma in conversation with Edgeworth’s, and I think I succeed!

HI YES HELLO CHUCKER RECS YOU WILL REGRET THIS
so I can't link to any of these because anon but they're all on ao3 and should show up with a quick search/if you're willing to just scroll the tag for a little bit
here are some of my personal favorites:
you mentioned heavy weather already, but basically anything else by shir_khan is worth a look, Chemistry (oneshot, 6k words, Teen) is a favorite of mine.
I Want You By My Side by hartxstarr- oneshot, 765 words, Gen
short, sweet, and fluffy. Church and Tucker slow-dancing in the base.
you give me fever by apocalypticchick- oneshot, 12k words, Explicit
basic premise is that instead of getting alien pregnant in s2, Tucker gets alien sex pollen'd instead... and Church is the one who steps in to help ;) I don't know if explicit fics are your thing, but I threw this one in on the off chance they are because it has some of the best characterization for both of them I've ever seen. Church POV, lots of pining, some great lines from the rest of the team while they're there. (if explicit fics ARE your thing, it's a pretty worthwhile read for that too)
you are a walking graveyard by Cinead- multichapter (complete), 44k words, Explicit
ghost hunter au! The Reds and Blues run a Buzzfeed Unsolved-esque show, which turns out to not be quite as fake as they thought it was. Can't give much more away without spoilers, but it's a fantastic ride from start to finish, written by someone who's got a great feel for the characters. Classic rvb idiocy, interspersed with heartwarming team dynamics and scenes that gave me genuine feelings. (Warnings for character death and some sex scenes)
Machine Learning by Cosmobot- oneshot, 4k words, Teen
in the author's own words, "the s12 reconciliation scene but Tucker gets to yell more and also it's gayer". Church and Tucker actually talk about what him leaving did to the team, with the added subtext that they're crushing on each other super hard. Great character voices!
live by the pointy shit, die by the pointy shit by stellulam- oneshot, 5k words, Teen
this one isn't actually chucker, but it's a great read if you just want more of them interacting. Tucker is in recovery on chorus after getting stabbed at the end of s12, and Church not-so-begrudgingly keeps him company, and they learn a few things about themselves and each other on the way. Also featuring some of the fragments! (seriously the dynamics in this one are SO CHOICE)
Full disclosure, I might have snuck one of my fics onto this list eheheh...
Happy reading, hope you enjoy!
So I only have "you are a walking graveyard" left to read and half of that list I already knew but they are always worth a reread and everything here is excellent. Thank you so much!
