UNITED STATES CONGRESS PASSES SERIES OF ANTI-DEMOCRATIC AND PRO-WAR BILLS DESPITE PUBLIC OPPOSITION
The United States Congress and Senate passed a series of bills, including three controversial anti-democratic and pro-war bills, two of which were tied together, on Saturday, bypassing public opinion and popular opposition to the profligate, pro-war, globalist, Neolib/Neocon agenda currently driving United States domestic and foreign policy.
Included in the bills passed was a bill to force TikTok to divest from its connections with China at risk of being banned immediately, which naturally was tied to a Foreign aid bill.
However, as even Republican Senator Rand Paul mentioned in an opinion piece in Reason Magazine, the Bill is almost certain to lead to more power for American political elites and their administrations to pressure companies like Apple and Google to further ban apps and sites that offer contradictory opinions to that of the invented narratives of the American Political class.
Before long, Americans, many of whom are already poorly informed, and heavily misinformed by their mainstream media, could lose access to critical information that contradicts the narratives of the United States government and corporate elites.
Horrifically, this only the start. The US Congress also extended the newly revised FISA spy laws, which gives the United States government the power to spy on the electronic communications of foreigners, while also conveniently sweeping up the conversations of millions of Americans, as we learned years ago thanks to the sacrifices of whistle blowers and journalists like Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange.
The new FISA Law goes further than this, however, granting US Intelligence agencies the power to spy on the wireless communications of Americans in completely new ways.
A recent Jacobin article describes these new powers as a, "radical expansion of government surveillance that would be ripe for abuse by a future authoritarian leader", or it could just be used by the authoritarian leadership we have right now, and have had for decades.
In fact, when one commentator described the new powers as "Stasi-like," Edward Snowden himself replied with a long post in which he remarked, "invocation of "Stasi-like" is not only a fair characterization of Himes' amendment, it's probably generous. The Stasi dared not even dream of what the Himes amendment provides."
The amendment in question just "tweaks" the current law's definition of an "electronic communication provider," which is being changed to "any service provider," something extremely likely to be abused by the government to force anyone with a business, a modem and people using their broadband to collect the electronic communications of those people, while also forcing their victims into silence.
The government could essentially force Americans to spy on other people and remain silent about it. Cafe's, restaurants, hotels, business landlords, shared workspaces all could get swept up into the investigations of the Intelligence agencies.
Worse still, because picking out the communications of a single user would be next to impossible, all of their victim's data would end up being surrendered to the authorities.
Sadly, the assault on Americans by their own political elites didn't end there, to top this historic day in Congress, at time when the United States public debt is growing at an astounding rate of $1 trillion every 100 days, US lawmakers also passed a series of pro-war aid packages to American allies (vassals) totalling some $95 billion.
Included in the foreign aid bill are aid packages totalling $61 billion for the Ukraine scam, $26 billion for Israel's special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, and $8 billion to the Indo-Pacific to provoke WWIII with China, at the same time we're also provoking a nuclear holocaust with the Russian Federation.
Also buried in these aid packages is the authorization for the United States government to outright steal the oversees investments of the Russian Federation, and thereby the Russian taxpayers.
Astonishingly, and in direct opposition to the wishes of their own voters, Republican support was won without the possibility of conditioning the aid to any kind of border security, this despite the issue being among the top biggest concerns of Republican voters.
Although much of the money is to be used replenishing the heavily depleted stocks of America's weapons and munitions, it remains unclear where the munitions are expected to come from, as US defense production has remained sluggish and slow to expand despite heavy investments and demand in recent years, despite the rapid urgency with which the policy elite describe the situation.
It bodes poorly for working Americans that only a relatively small handful of lawmakers opposed the bills, producing unlikely bedfellows like Senator Bernie Sanders and Senator Mike Lee in the Senate, opposing the FISA bill.
While in the House, the loudest opposition to the foreign aid bill mostly came from populist Republicans such as Marjorie Taylor Greene, Thomas Massie and Paul Goser. Only 58 Congresmembers voted against the Foreign Aid Bill in which the TikTok ban was tucked.
Not one word from American politicians about the need to raise the minimum wage, which hasn't been increased since 2009 despite considerable inflation, nor a word about America's endlessly growing homelessness crises, property crime increases, or the 40-year stagnation of American wages, the deterioration of infrastructure, and precious little was said besides complaints about border security over the immigration crises sparked by American Imperialist adventures and US sanctions.
What we've learned today is that we are highly unlikely to see any changes to the insane behavior of the US and its allies any time soon, neither with regards to the absolutely bonkers Neocon foreign policy leading us to the edge of abyss, nor the spending-for-the-rich/austerity-for-the-poor Neoliberal domestic policy of the last 45 years.

An amazing, detailed video on the geopolitics that led, contributed, and overall interacted with the Israel/Palestine overarching dispute and the current war. I strongly encourage and honestly, almost beg anyone that sees this to watch it entirely, and spread further, including beyond tumblr. It views Israel and Palestine fairly imo, and Russia, China and especially Iran in a very negative light.
Note - I did not watch the Nebula continuation of it, so anyone is welcome to detail on that in a reblog.

It’s New Year.
Just a few hours left for me.
And my country is bombing another country.
And yesterday one of our cities was bombed in response.
Our propaganda never shows any images of Ukrainian streets on fire.
Because they call them all “fakes”.
And people are regularly arrested for spreading “fakes”.
For saying anything against the war.
For even calling it “war”.
For going out on the streets with an empty sheet of paper.
A girl was sentenced to 7 years in prison for putting anti-war stickers on price tags in a store.
While murderers and rapists are being freed from prisons, sent to war and given amnesty when they come back.
Along with a status of “Heroes” for doing what they do best in another country.
An orthodox priest who raped children was given a suspended sentence and is still free.
While government preaches for “christian values” and calls LGBT movement an extremist organisation.
And this attack on one of our cities.
It won’t be delivered by our propaganda as a call to stop the war.
No, just the opposite, to intensify the attack on Ukraine in return.
Our government doesn’t care about children who died in this city.
Just as it doesn’t care about the ukranian children.
Because it NEVER cared for common people.
They say that the main reason for war is the oppression of russian-speaking citizens in Eastern Ukraine.
And while I met and talked to many of the refugees from there
You don’t fucking save people by killing and putting at a huge risk MUCH MORE PEOPLE.
Ironically enough, our government supports Palestine.
Which is good, but also what a fucking hypocrisy.
It’s mainly because America supports Israel, while also supporting Ukraine.
And what a fucking joke this whole geopolitical situation is.
Two of the hugest forces play chess with each other using other countries and their citizens as figures on the board.
And make money on people’s deaths.
Hey, America, why don’t you, fucking, I don’t know, assassinate our politicians, starting with the main psychopath??? If you want the war to stop so much?????
Why don’t politicans just go one on one UFC style and we all will watch and see who wins, like Remark suggested in his book about WW1???
Why start fucking WW3?
It feels so incredibly weird, watching and reading scenes about wars in TGCF.
They are perfectly depicted, you know.
It felt so striking, to watch Yong An and Xian Le people live happily together in the 9th Episode.
I hope one day we’ll be able to end up like this again as well.
But I have no hopes for tomorrow.
It’s gonna be centuries untill Russia might be able to live in peace with the world.
Just because one psychopath decided to go in history forever.
And if other psychopaths will ever let us live in peace.
Because every single participant of this war does not give a fuck about people.
I don’t believe they do.
Because they have power.
They could’ve stopped it.
They could’ve never let it happen.
And we?
We can’t. We can’t decide anything in this totalitarian fucking country.
Tell me, what can I do? What can I do to make this next year better?
I used to be a journalist.
I hoped my words could reach people.
They never did.
But I hope this little post just might reach… i don’t know, at least someone.
Will it make a difference?
Can anything make a difference?
Tell me, people of the free world.
Please.

I’m not trying to start a fight/argue, but Ukraine has always supported Palestine. I think it’s important to know that since they themselves are getting invaded, Ukraine isn’t really in a position to put too much involvement in other countries affairs at the moment. But historically, the two have always had good relations
Tumblr media
Ukraine doesn’t like Israel, if that’s not obvious.
But Ukraine and Palestine have long recognized each other’s independence. The two are more similar than people realize.
(Again, I’m not trying to be disrespectful, I just want to clarify some Information.)
I promise I won't fight or argue 😉 I'm only occasionally a horrid asshole when people attack me personally, but I love talking kindly with people I disagree with <3
I definitely think things are a little more complicated between Ukraine's support of Israel than, say, the United State's support of Israel, but there is still support-- allow me to state my case why. Bear with me, it requires some context.
I think the most important thing to point out first is that that this support was historic. The state of Ukraine supported Palestine as a Soviet Republic, just as all communists support liberation and oppose apartheid and genocide everywhere. I'm not sure what would have happened after 1991 following the dissolution of the socialist project, but even after the capitalist coup of the Union, these post-socialist societies retained much of their Soviet values ideologically and morally, as well as their international relationships; it would not have surprised me if Ukraine from 1991 to 2014 maintained support of Palestine.
However, the neutral Ukrainian government in 2014, which had good relations with both Westerners in Europe as well as their sibling nation Russia, was couped by the Westerners. What then began was a process of liberalization, militarization, and Nazification of the political and military body.
The Banderites are a group of Ukranian Neo Nazis who are directly and descended without interruption from the original Ukranian Nazi collaborators--as the Nazis raped and pillaged and slaughtered their way eastward in the opening days of WW2, many Eastern Europeans joined their ranks, both fascist individuals happily joining in the destruction of their Jewish, Slavic, etc. neighbors, and also those who were fearful, or just opportunists. Banderites remained a fringe political movement in the underground of Ukrainian politics for a century--while the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 made their anticommunist, fascist, white supremacist ideology a little freer to stretch its legs, it wasn't until the 2014 coup and its aftermath that they were truly enabled. And enabled they were: Western weapons, ammo, armor, vehicles, intel, military trainers, mercenaries, political favors, and vast sums of money helped the Banderite movement take power in Ukraine. For 8 years, children began being taught Nazi ideology in public schools, groups that were previously underground Neo Nazi paramilitary groups were integrated formally into the military and political body, and those deemed ethnically inferior such as African or Arab immigrants and their more Slavic Russian-speaking neighbors at the east end of Ukraine were harassed, assaulted, killed--bombed, sniped, burned alive.
America and NATO purposefully provoked Russia to invade Ukraine in 2022 as part of their geopolitical strategy since the end of WW2 to contain, weaken, and, eventually, balkanize and colonize Russia.
I won't dig into the details of this conflict, but, suffice to say, it is only through the billions and billions of American dollars that this war didn't end in a few short months.
Likewise, if it wasn't for the billions and billions of American dollars that Israel receives, Israel would have been destroyed by its Arab neighbors generations ago.
Here arises a conflict that the Ukrainian government shares with the Israelis: they both compete to be USA's #1 vassal and to be granted massive subsidies to continue their fascist projects. A dollar sent to Ukraine is a dollar that could have been sent to the IDF, and vice versa.
There is other small geopolitical kinks: Israel and Russia occasionally collaborate in Syria to fight ISIS. Many of the Jews that immigrated to the newly formed Israel came from both Ukraine and Russia.
Now, besides these kinks, including the two UN resolutions you cited, there is no indication that post-2014 Ukraine and Israel are anything but amicable, and support each others respective fascist ideologies, even with the seeming paradox that one is explicitly antisemitic and the other proclaims itself to be the sole voice of Judaism.
Zelensky and Netanyahu have amicable diplomatic relations. They have visited each other's countries many times, and taken turns denouncing Hamas and Russia, respectively. They each publicly support each others sovereignty, urge continued cooperation, and have taken small steps to strengthening political, economic, and militaristic ties, including the exchange of intel, weapons, and training.
The situation is complicated, but the final tally is clear: they are both vassals of the United States, they are both embroiled in hot wars that rely heavily on the approval and charity of American and European citizens and institutions, and whatever feelings they may share privately are secondary to that fact. Perhaps they secretly don't like each other, and see each other as competitors, and only work together under the duress of the United States. Perhaps they love each other, greatly admire each other, and things like the UN resolution are a lover's spat, and reluctance to fully cosign each other is the result of the petty game of necessary geopolitical posturing for their ultimate goals. Perhaps it is a bit of both. But, the end result is the same: they are both minions subordinate to the United States, and thus in this 3rd World War, they are allies, however strange bedfellows they may appear.

"Israel's war on Gaza is just like Russia's invasion of Ukraine"
Russia launched an unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country to destroy them not just physically, but culturally and government-wise.
Israel is reacting to the deadliest terrorist attack in their country's history.
You can say that Israel is going way too far in pounding Gaza to dust, but at the end of the day, there's a big difference.

Russian culture is terror
Just another peaceful happy Sunday for Ukraine. This time, I didn't manage to sleep at all before the warning about the high level of danger. Iranian-Russian drones had already reached my region.

I would like to note that this next massive shelling would have been even more horrific if our strikes had not been launched from Crimea. Ballistics from Crimea would have been added.

And as this Ukrainian person pointed out, we go to bed knowing that Russian strategic aviation is up. For a Ukrainian, sleeping more than 2-3 hours is a record. You monitor the alarm, the phone falls out of your hands. You are sleep-deprived but alive. You still have time to sleep after the attack.

What caused the Ukraine-Russia war??
After the collapse of soviet union in 1991 many countries were formed.Ukraine was one of them.Russia the successor state of soviet union wanted every former soviet country to remain pro russia and avoid the American led order and institutions. Nato a security alliance was formed to stop and protect Europe from communist soviet union. After the collapse of soviet union till now 7 former soviet countries have joined nato which is highly disliked by Russia. When the russians saw ukraine becoming pro west it invaded crimea(a part of ukraine). The other reason behind the invasion of crimea is russia dose not have enough warm water ports most of its ports freeze during winter making it difficult for the russian navy to project power.
Russia fears ukraine becoming a part of European union and Nato.If Ukraine becomes part of nato a huge amount of natoweaponary will be stationed on the russian-Ukrainian border which will become a national security threat for russia.
Russia Hates the American heagemony and dose not wants its former soviet countries to become pro US but remain as russian vessel states.

RUSSIAN FORCES HUNT DOWN ANOTHER U.S.-MADE ABRAMS TANK IN UKRAINE
📹 Footage from a Russian FPV drone as it hunts down and targets yet another American-made Abrams main battle tank (MBT) belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
It is unclear from the video whether the tank was just damaged or destroyed by the drone strike, however, several Abrams MBT's have already been destroyed by the Russian military.

HAVE YOU HEARD: India is under pressure! Ukraine wants India to rethink its ties with Russia!! Presently, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba is embarked on a diplomatic journey in India, scheduled for a duration of two days, with the primary objective of enhancing and fortifying the existing bilateral relations between Ukraine and India. This endeavor is particularly significant given India's historical alignment with Russia, as the Ukrainian government seeks to cultivate a deeper and more mutually beneficial partnership with the Indian government. While on his visit, Kuleba emphasized the importance of reassessing India's longstanding relationship with Russia, citing its foundation in the 'Soviet legacy' which he believes is gradually dissipating. Given the uncertain status of aid from the United States, Ukraine is actively seeking India's backing for the forthcoming peace summit, highlighting the significance of solidarity and collaboration between the two nations during these critical diplomatic endeavors.
Ukraine wishes to advance a peace agenda with countries other than Russia. The proposal reportedly includes restoring Ukraine’s territories, withdrawal of troops, security guarantees for Ukraine, release of PoWs, and much more. For those unaware, Russia was among the first countries to set up an embassy in India. From helping India in the Kashmir issue, sending military support in the Bangladesh war, and backing India in the UN, Russia has proven to be a great ally to India! As such, India has carefully avoided condemning Russia as it maintains its stance of encouraging a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict using ‘diplomacy and dialogue’. Is Ukraine right about the fading Soviet legacy? Should India give up Russia for Ukraine, NATO, and the US? Follow Jobaaj Stories (the media arm of Jobaaj.com Group) for more.

Russia would not attack NATO, but F-16s will be shot down in Ukraine — Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared late Wednesday night that his country had no plans for any NATO country or intentions to attack Poland, the Baltic states or the Czech Republic, according to Russian media.
Putin also warned that if the West supplied Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, they would be shot down by Russian forces. Speaking to Russian air force pilots, the president claimed that the US-led military alliance had expanded eastwards to Russia since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, reiterating that Moscow had no plans to attack any NATO state.
We have no aggressive intentions towards these states. The idea that we will attack some other country — Poland, the Baltic States, and the Czechs are also being scared — is complete nonsense.
Responding to the question about the F-16 jets that the West had promised to send to Ukraine, Putin noted that such aircraft would not change the overall situation.
“If they supply F-16s, and they are talking about this and are apparently training pilots, this will not change the situation on the battlefield. And we will destroy the aircraft just as we destroy today tanks, armoured vehicles and other equipment, including multiple rocket launchers.”

People hate me when I force Russia into conversations about Palestine. I am Palestinian American myself, the lives of my family there are in danger every second of every day. I hope you understand that I choose to steer towards talking about Russia instead BECAUSE that is how critical building correct understanding of entities like Russia is to me.
The entire western Left is doing a good job in their observation and analysis of Israel genociding Palestine...this is good. But to affect real change, you need to understand there is a wider geopolitical picture. You can't stop the cruelty of the USA and by extension its vassal Israel if you are immune to some lies but happily indulge in others. All the knowledge of Israel's evils doesn't mean a thing if you buy into all the other evils of the greater machine Israel is just a small part of.
Israel genociding Palestine is just a microcosm. A small facet of a world war between the imperialist, fascist West and a unifying bloc of its former victims. It is a microcosm just like Russia invading Ukraine, just like Iran and Saudi Arabia making peace, just like Mali+Niger+Burkina Faso kicking out the Americans and the French, just like whatever happens in Taiwan will be, just like the second wave of democratically elected left-wing pinkos in Latin America.
These political conversations we share collectively online are not just for blowing off steam. We are some of the very few representatives of a western Left. These conversations are attempts to build a group consensus on what is real, and what is to be done. This is essential for any acting political movement to achieve any goals whatsoever.
Listen, I don't expect people to know all the nitty gritty details about the Ukranian war the same way they know about Palestine. The coverage and the accessibility is very different. I don't even expect people to know about Palestine! I don't expect people to be experts on world history, or to read every ancient tome on political theory. That is ridiculous. We are all specially equipped individuals who have our areas of interest and expertise, our skills, our faults. We are all human beings who are squashed between a grindstone of shitty low wage jobs and a deadly crisis of alienation and mental illness. Nobody should have to know Everything to engage with politics.
HOWEVER. When the Geopolitical Understander Brigade full of nerds who DO love history, current events, political theory, sociology, psychology economics, class analysis, and the many forms of warfare, all come to you to say, "hey, the ridiculous propaganda war waged to paint Palestinians as baby-beheading 'Hamas' and thus deserving of death is the exact same as the ridiculous propaganda war to paint Russia as an irrational and barbaric eastern horde and thus deserving of death"...maybe YOU SHOULD LISTEN.
