The whole situation is so interesting to me, because all things being equal, I think Joost should have heeded the calls for a boycott. I don't think anybody should have participated in this year's Eurovision. Moreover, his justification that he was just one person, one artist, and couldn't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things is... bad. The "I'm just one person" defence isn't good enough in situations like these.
However, ironically, the fact that he was "just one person" who actively stood against the Israeli delegation and was ultimately booted for it (because let's be honest: there's no way in hell a ✨ threatening gesture ✨ would have gotten the Netherlands disqualified without the added rabble Joost was rousing about Israel's presence at the contest) was what turned hordes of people against the ESC—including past participants. He might not be a "world leader", as he said, but he was able to pull back the final curtain on the contest in a very pivotal way.
So, should he have participated in the first place? As I said, no, I don't think he should have. However, did he ultimately use his participation for good in a capacity that not even he might have anticipated? Yes, I believe so.
Ultimately, I'm sure his parents are very proud of him.
“But what if Joost made the camerawoman feel ✨unsafe✨? 🥺” people who violate other people’s consent should feel unsafe, actually

As the title says, these are support and evacuation fundraisers from my main list that are currently less than halfway to their goals. Please support these fundraisers by donating and sharing them so that they may complete their goals as quickly as possible and secure safety and/or evacuate should the Rafah crossing open again soon.
