HAVE YOU HEARD: Ukraine is in trouble! It might have to retreat from the frontlines!! In his most recent plea before the US Congress, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that without prompt assistance from the United States, Ukrainian forces would have no choice but to commence a gradual withdrawal, resulting in the relinquishment of additional territory to Russia. The aid provided by the United States to the Ukrainian army encompasses a wide array of military assets, such as air defense systems, tanks, missiles, heavy artillery, and various other resources that the Ukrainian forces currently lack. Zelenskyy emphasized that the absence of these crucial weapons, coupled with a general shortage of ammunition, could potentially force Ukrainian soldiers to undertake a series of incremental withdrawals.

The war in Ukraine has been going on for over 760 days today as Russia is still going strong but Ukraine is faltering. Russia has been aggressively targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, especially power plants, as it is getting difficult for Ukraine to fight back. The US Senate passed a massive $95 billion foreign aid bill for Ukraine and Israel in February but it has been stuck in the House of Representatives for over a month as Republicans seek money for its border issues and domestic debt. Rs. 2000/- note to be de-legitimised. Is that a good decision?

The Rs. 2,000 note was introduced by the Reserve Bank of India, on November 8, 2016, the day when Rs. 500 and 1,000 notes were demonetised. Now, in May 2023, this denomination has been withdrawn from circulation.

This action, taken after almost 8 years, has caused mixed reactions among the public. When the previous notes ceased to be legal tender, the magenta-coloured note was introduced as an effective measure against black money and tax evasion. Everybody from that time might be able to remember the chaos in front of Banks and ATMs, the fall in Real Estate value, the rumours of GPS-like technologies in the new notes, enabling their tracking and thus preventing the formation of black money. However, critics have long argued that this was not as effective as it was touted to be, that the Demonetisation was not well thought-out, but rather flawed. It can now be said that perhaps the this current decision is in acknowledgement of that very argument.

Personally speaking, this has been long coming, and seems to be much more well-planned. The notes have not ceased to be legal tender immediately; rather they can be used and deposited until September 30th of the year. This cuts down on unnecessary panic, and gives sufficient time to the public.

All in all, this action seems to be approved of by a substantial amount of the public. Now, how this decision will pan out in the long term, one can only wait and see with time.

Artificial intelligence could be a 'real threat' to 'a lot of jobs,' computer expert says

AI, as it is called, is coming to your home, your job, your life in ways you never thought possible. At least, that is what computer experts are saying.

AI has the ability to improve your life and take care of tasks both menial and major. It also might eliminate your job and the jobs of many people you know.

Computer expert Alan Crowetz is the president and CEO of Infostream. He is focused on what he, and many others, think is groundbreaking change.

"My world is blowing up about this. There's this thing called ChatGPT. It's AI, a computer trained so well, it can write and do things better than most people can do it," Crowetz said.

Crowetz introduced me to ChatGPT and its cousin, Dall-E, an AI with an artistic flair.

He asked Dall-E to "show me a monk going through a purple portal." Seconds later, it did.

"It is neat and creative, and scary. A computer is analytical, I get [that], but creative. How do you get creative?" Crowetz said.

OpenAI, the company behind these AI marvels, had them digest hundreds of millions of articles: science, art, philosophy, etc.

"Artificial intelligence is teaching computers to think like humans do, to reason, to draw their own conclusions, to come up with unique concepts," Crowetz said.

AI could help us with a lot of work we take for granted. What what happens if it is your work?

"This is a real threat to a lot of jobs," Crowetz said.

"Can this AI help me with tax questions?" WPTV anchor Michael Williams asked Crowetz.

"It can," Crowetz answered.

"Can it help me with accounting questions?" Williams asked.

"It can," Crowetz answered.

"Can it help me if I am stumped writing a paper for school or my next newscast?" Williams asked.

"It excels at that," Crowetz replied.

WPTV asked ChatGPT to create an outline about ethics and morals. It quickly did.

"Anybody can write a paper with references incredibly well, an A+ paper in seconds that would have taken months for a student to write. How do you know the student actually learned something? Or the computer program did it?" Crowetz said.

Helping us with our studies, art, science, math, philosophy, taxes or the next great recipe. ChatGPT is the next step in the computer aided world all of us embrace every time we pick up our smartphone.

But what if the embrace becomes too tight?

ChatGPT, experts said, can create jobs we cannot imagine right now. It may also take away jobs we never thought a computer, an AI, could handle as well as a human being.

"When they release this thing to digest the entire internet or industries like accounting or law, it's going to be scary powerful. For a while, a lot of white-collar jobs out there, and blue-collar jobs, will use this as a very powerful tool. But what happens when the tool become more powerful than the wielder of the tool?" Crowetz said.

The 500-year wait is over! Lord Ram is home!! Check out the full timeline:🔽🔽 - 1528: According to the history books, Babur's general Mir Baq was in charge of constructing the Babri masjid at the place where Lord Ram was born. The old temple was destroyed to construct the mosque.

- 1530-65: Unverified reports suggest communal violence over the Mandir-Masjid debate and Akbar, the then Mughal ruler, set up a common platform for worship. - 1853-85: After almost 330 years, communal violence erupts again. The British Empire sets up partitions and Mahant Das’s plea to build a canopy above the platform is denied. - 1949: The turning point comes when the idol of Lord Ram appears from inside the mosque. According to Muslims, the idol was placed inside the mosque by a radical Hindu outfit. As both parties file multiple lawsuits, the situation gets more complicated.

- 1950-61: Multiple lawsuits are filed and other parties join the fray with both sides claiming the land as theirs. - 1983-1989: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) starts a nationwide move to build a temple and legal tensions flare up. Muslims set up the Babri Masjid Committee and the former VP of the VHP files a suit on behalf of Lord Ram to get possession and the first stone for the temple is laid. - 1990: BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani’s Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya saw thousands of volunteers march as they partially damaged the mosque in a scuffle that left scores dead. - 1992: The bloodiest event in the Mandir-Masjid dispute as Hindu volunteers demolish the mosque and a bloody battle erupts throughout the nation. Over 2,000 were reported dead. A small tent is set up where the idol is placed for worship. - 2002: PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee sets up an Ayodhya cell and the Allahabad HC judges begin determining ownership of the site. - 2003: The Archaeological Survey of India begins surveying the area and a survey reveals the existence of a temple’s remains beneath the mosque. Muslims challenge the findings as tensions continue. - 2010: The disputed land is split into 3 parts where one went to the Hindus, another to the Muslims, and the final one to the Nirmohi Akhara. - 2011: All 3 parties approach the Supreme Court to challenge the Allahabad HC’s judgment and the SC issues a stay on the order. - 2015-18: The SC removes all irrelevant parties from the lawsuit as the matter gets more sensitive during that time. - 2019: After a failed mediation attempt, a five-judge bench announces a judgment in favor of the Hindus, and the Muslims are allotted 5 acres for the construction of another mosque. - 2020: PM Narendra Modi lays the foundation stone for the construction alongside a commemorative plaque and a special postage stamp. - 22nd January 2024: The temple is officially consecrated and Lord Ram, who has been in a tent since 1992, is unveiled for worship in a state-of-the-art temple.
