Wow Reddit is really trying to get people to use their app. They just blocked the fanfiction subreddit and the gamingcirclejerk subreddit and the tinder subreddit on mobile browsers within the last 2 days

Okay guys I thought we'd gone over this when JKR (scum of the earth) first ~confirmed~ that Dumbledore was Gay on Twitter.

Why are we now suddenly accepting Word Of God Tweets as canon?

Especially for shows/characters that didn't have a single HINT about xyz queer identity in the actual show? Especially when half these modern shows these days are *explicitly* filled with other rep?

This obviously excludes things in older media where the creators were clearly fighting tooth and nail for inclusion because it's visible in the show in appearances/how characters behave etc even if it's never given verbal direct lines--

--looking at Steven Universe never actually saying the words Gay or Bisexual or Pansexual or anything-- while still being full of gay and bi representation including a literal gay wedding--

-- also looking at a certain reddit thread I found by accident for the EDAs with Eight and his boyfriend (whose name I can't think of or find on Google) in the Doctor Who novels of them being a ship and the author not being able to include the more...ehem. explicit content between them, but their relationship is still there strongly enough in the text you can grasp what's happening behind the scenes.

ALSO looking at the Eighth Doctor being canonically nonbinary without using the word, with multiple instances of them saying things along the lines of Janet from the Good Place's "not a man" --

I think we need to bring it back again--

"if it's not in the [media] it's not representation."

The author of the Animorphs saying "you can Headcanon whatever you want" does NOT make the Animorphs canon queer representation.

The creators of a show that has canon gay and bi rep tacking on comments on Twitter about how a side character is "ace" without ever actually showing that in the show like the other queer identifies were given? NOT representation.

Saying a character is trans/nonbinary/neopronouns representation purely because the main character is a robot that agrees with its assigned-at-construction "genderlessnsss" and uses it/its pronouns because it is a robot (and literally every single robot in the entire series also uses it/its, there are no robots who are trans and want to use different pronouns) is NOT proper nonbinary or trans representation. It's representation for it/its users, but just barely, considering it's told in first-person perspective, so the it/its pronouns are never used for the protagonist unless someone is speaking about the main character as though it's not right there in front of them. The fact that many readers come away assuming either she/her or he/him pronouns for the main character after the first book, under the impression the use of it/its pronouns for the main character by the other characters in the first book was just a sign of being seen as just an object is evident enough of the problem .

Especially if the series is allergic to the concept of asking people their pronouns and everyone ~magically~ knows everyone's correct pronouns based on their physical sex listed in their space Facebook. It is not trans or nonbinary or neopronoun representation. The one time someone genuinely uses neopronouns they're immediately rushed off screen after being confirmed to exist for brownie points.

It's 2023. Queer representation is everywhere that cares actually to include it.

Does a piece of media need to explicitly say the words "asexual" "nonbinary", "transgender", "neopronouns" etc to be represention? Not necessarily; are they actually showing the representation? Is it clearly visible with the media? Sure, go ahead! You don't need to say the word "transgender" out loud to establish a character is trans--

do they wear a trans pride pin?

Do they wear a binder?

Do they have top scars?

Do they wear a padded bra?

Do they have old photos that look different to their current self?

Do old friends not recognize them right away?

Do they take birth control pills or have patches?

How about a character that is nonbinary and uses they/them or other neopronouns?

Here's a shocking fact: if you want real representation for nonbinary and neopronouns, you DO in fact have to include conversations about pronouns in your media if it's not a written text where things are literally spelled out for the reader!

You do NOT need to have your non-binary or trans or neo-pronoun-using character experience any kind of transphobia to establish their pronouns. You can literally just have a conversation go like this.

"Hello, so nice to see you again! Have you met the project lead and computer expert, Ian, yet?"

"No, I haven't met him yet, but I've read some his work!"

"Some of their work, actually. Ian uses they/them pronouns."

"Oh, my mistake, thank you! I cannot wait to meet them!"

Another, extremely simple thing to do is. Is literally just have the character wear a pronoun pin. These are things that exist for a reason, Especially for neopronoun users .

You cannot magically guess someone's pronouns based on appearance, and if you *insist* that every character's pronouns CAN be magically known based on what they look like ..... Congrats. you're being transphobic.

If you want to actually include representation for any gender identities in your work you HAVE to do the most basic thing and actually be comfortable with the concept that characters, like real life people, should be comfortable introducing themselves with their pronouns, wearing pronoun pins, and correcting someone who is misgendering someone without it always being malicious or a big deal.

Having everyone magically know someone's pronouns are it/its because the character in question is a literal robot in a world where literally every single robot uses it/its pronouns is NOT the representation you think it is.

Anyways.

If your new favorite modern media doesn't have explicit queer representation in the confines of the show/text/etc and only tacks it on in a random comment on Twitter?

Congrats!

It’s unfortunate that Jeff only sees that side of Tumblr and it’s almost like tunnel vision…there are a lot of positive things about Jeff and most of the “negative” he sees comes from people who generally are about him. But I guess he’s allowed to interpret it the way he does but I hope he knows that these people on Tumblr don’t hate him. There’s a lot of stuff said on Twitter and Reddit that is completely unhinged but Tumblr must be the scum on earth for him. It’s unfortunate but that’s fine.

maybe it’s because i’m still upset about the situation yesterday and the way people treated ranboo coming out vs. how people treated dream coming out, when they were both approached in the same way (i.e twitter joke), but i would like to say this especially to everyone who was making fun of dream coming out, doubting his identity and invalidating all the he has said about coming to terms with his sexuality since the reddit post, calling him a queerbaiter, that you’re the scum of this earth. i actually don’t care what you identify as, if you’re straight, queer or gay, if you think invalidating someone’s struggles, someone’s queerness, their own identity when we know the amount of mental strength that you need to come to terms with who you are just because you don’t like someone, you’re in the same level as the homophobes standing in the middle of the road with signs claiming that homosexuality as a sin. it’s one thing to dislike someone, it’s another one to relentlessly diminish and invalidate another. being queer is not the norm, coming to the terms with our own queerness is something that takes people sometimes decades, and even when they finally think they have reached an equilibrium, they might find out there’s another thing that they still don’t know about themselves. i adore ranboo and i am so proud of him, so glad that he could come out on his own terms and be surrounded by positivity and the community embracing him, but lets not forget that dream didn’t have the same opportunity, so even if you don’t like dream, don’t forget the way this fandom, that claims to be inclusive/changing norms did to a queer man, not once, but twice.

okay since i have already reached the 100 notes within the 24 hours mark, i will now put into more detail on what i said im super pissed at twitter rn on not only about the mcc but other things too.

this series would be split into possibly 4 (it depends on the riot twitter will do later) parts. so this is part 1 of the "twitter shut the fuck up with the petty shit ur doing" series

Part 1: Philza Minecraft Drama

section 1: what happened to have people dislike philza minecraft?

first off, time to show some screenshots to give more context to it.

have you noticed any pattern these people are talking about? if not, the pattern is people not giving the context or the thread that they claimed they see in the philza neg or the sbi neg tags. they just tell the public how they hate or dislike philza without giving the reason why.

section 2: mockery and favoritism

luckily for me, when ive been looking at the philza neg tag for 4 hours, ive come across a thread that talked about the philza neg. you can see it at the first two pictures. here's the big thing about the philza minecraft issue.

people are starting to mock or insult his looks, discredit his works that he contributed to the fandom, and/or "helping" the ccs who are close to him (and by "helping" i mean isolating him from other ccs). and when you ask them as to why they don't like him, they'll say "idk i just don't like him" or "he did these things that this user make a thread about months ago that got deleted when they were proven wrong by lots of people". knowledge is the key as they say yet these people just threw that key in the ocean and can never be found ever again because i don't know if they're informed or not, but philza already apologized about it back then in a livestream which fellow content creators such as wilbur and tommy did the same thing yet they specifically targeted philza? i don't even want to know what logic they have man.

section 3: alleged making jokes on systems especially those who have DID

ive also seen some few tweets saying he's an ableist by making a bit of redza (an alter ego of c!philza) without having the knowledge that the fandom itself created redza and the other colourzas. it's the fans who created contents of the colourzas and being an avid enjoyer of the creative works from his fans, he created bits and hcs of his character having different versions of themselves. in fact, i have a reddit post that explained the origin of the colourzas.

it's a character. phil was portraying his character who is an entirely different character all together from his main character (thank you @arachnidlesbianism for clarifying it). philza wasn't making fun of systems, he's just giving content to fans who like the idea of colourzas. that's it. that's only it. additionally, if acting as characters who are systems are bad, let's take a look at tommy's character who has severe ptsd and depression yet we don't see him get flamed as much for portraying this character while philza got hated for it. or how techno's character have voices in his head which is a common sign to multiple mental illnesses. is it good to act as a system despite not having a mental disorder and making fun of it? no, it's not. you're an ableist at that point and a scum of the earth. but is portraying a character who may or may not be a system good? as long as you know the difference of the actor and the character, then (for me as someone who has kleptomania and tourette syndrome) yes it's fine as long as they're respectful towards their character and the people who relate to that character. and disclaimer, i don't speak for all systems as this take is only my opinion and thoughts. i chose to forgive phil and the respective people that i will mention in the future parts. there are others that may be affected by phil's actions and this post is only clearing up some misinformation and the lack of context of the tweets to those who still don't know about it.

section 4: peepaw (ew old people)

now to the insult by using the slang 'peepaw' which means grouchy old man in southern culture. believe it or not, some people legit and genuinely hate him for being old. that's it. people hate philza minecraft because he's old. come on guys, i know we made fun of phil by calling him an old man but that was for positive annoyance and endearment towards him. what these people are doing are insulting him for his age and thought that maybe that's a valid reason to hate the guy. plain stupid if you ask me.

section 5: philza and his fans = boring people

finally, the discrediting of his contribution in shaping the mcyt of today. twitter really said people are old and boring for watching phil's streams. we watch it because his streams are chill and relaxing. so what if he's building structures in his hardcore worlds? not every streams should be action-packed or full of content twists here and there. his streams are literal comfort streams for the ccs you like (i.e. tommy and jack manifold mentioned this a lot in their vlogs). his fans found comfort in his streams even if its "boring" as the twitter users said. his story times are soothing, funny and sometimes out of this world. his friends popping up in his streams are enjoyable. his little bits and skits are humorous and cute. since you call us 'boring' at least we have more humor than you have in your entire body el o fucking el. not only that, at least we have an internet dad while yours is still outside buying expired milk :shades_on: (please don't take this one seriously).

conclusion

taking twitter's information on content creators should be taken with a grain of salt especially if these issues they deemed "serious" were already talked about before or has a different story from what actually happened. they focus more on the actions that happened decade ago where even some of the ccs who did this forgot about it instead of the current issues that people are facing rn such as the asian hate or the oppression of the lgbtq community. not hating the ccs who have fans that genuinely care for them and will feel guilty or ashamed if others hate the cc they like with no valid reasons or context as to why they deserved to be cancelled.

final notes for this first part of the series

if you ever know any of these people in twitter or you're mutuals with them, please don't send any hate or dts to them as in the end of the day, this is only petty drama. this take is also up to debate as i would to hear more from different sides of the spectrum of the drama. stay tune for the next parts cuz i can guarantee how wild this ride will be for you and i, dear readers.

Do you think that news outlets would run a story if we sent them the Bates charades video? I'm livid and Trace is the scum of the earth for making a mockery out of a tragic, senseless murder.

I think all of the media outlets who care about the Bates are already paying attention to reddit and Twitter (maybe here too, not sure) so they should already know, I haven't googled around yet or anything. It wouldn't hurt to send it to others but my guess is they’re too D list for anyone besides People or inTouch to care.

Anon, you ARE selling this, but I am terrified of cycling because every time I check the BBC Sport website it's like "Four Cyclists Paralysed In Crash During Twenty-Third Stage of Tour de France" and I can't take that. What do you think of the majority of the "gamers community" on social media? "especially Twitter like HOLY SHIT". As much as I love to play video games and engage in conversations about them but these communities are full of sexist, racist and detestable people.

Twitter is the scourge of the earth no matter what kind of conversations or fandoms you're engaging in. I haven't used mine since 2012 lol. And then forums like reddit and dev boards are just ick. 13 year old boys trying to act hard by saying disgusting things. I lurked on CDPRs forum when TW3 came out and maaaaan. Dark times. Social media in general brings out the scum of the earth in every community though. There's no accountability and their identities are totally hidden. It's a shame that you pretty much can't get away from that anywhere online but as far as the "gamers community" goes, tumblr suprisingly has been the best experience I've had with fandom in general. Whether it's the people I follow or don't follow, I'm not sure but I've had nothing but the best experience, making edits and discussing new and old games on here. You really just have to find your tribe and utilize the block button when you can.

I go on Reddit’s handmaid’s tale sub, and see people bashing Serena, I’d respond sometimes, usually not too bad though. Facebook groups are the same. There are crazies out there who hate Serena as if she were a real person who ate their kids or something, it’s actually hysterical. Can’t take them too seriously.

HAHA! I’m just channelling some of that Serena confidence you’ve got!!! Let’s just be real here. I’m gonna say it, and oh well if people don’t agree. They have plenty of other places to hang out and talk about all the straightness. Let Serena embrace her biological destiny hahaha.

Yeah, it was here with my other blog and I mean, I just... can’t be bothered. I’m old enough that people flipping out online doesn’t affect me, and dumping a bunch of hate in my inbox anonymously like a toddler having a tantrum is boring to me, but I’m just tired, ya know? I don’t want drama. I’m all for discussions and even fiery debate, but the drama and histrionics are just not my scene anymore. I cannot be bothered to even engage with people like that.

And it was on reddit, and twitter. Reddit I always found a little more level-headed than here or twitter but still sometimes... I just can’t with the rabid N/J stans sometimes. You can’t even say anything remotely positive towards Serena without someone butting in about how she needs to die a tortuous death ASAP cos she’s literally the devil and how great Nick is... ??? Why? Why bother with that second part? Just say you hate complex women and go. (Cos I think I mentioned before how often it seems to coincide with criticism about June as well. It’s really weird. Like, June is not a bad person. She’s a normal person, very human with very real flaws. But there’s nothing on the same level as Serena’s.) I just don’t feel like being dogpiled or downvoted into the negative double digits just for saying you don’t hate a character, and maybe there’s some value to them.

Letès pretend that human beings are not as shit as they really are, and just enjoy the characters and think about what the show overall is trying to say about women, and hey, maybe even have some goddamn hope. Meh. That said, some of them are fucking hilarious in their indignation and vitriol. Like, calm down mebbe babby. It is a TV show and I am literally some random stranger on the internet relax lol.

Lipstick Alley IMO is just an echo chamber for hatred, racism, misinformation and degenerate behaviour. Most of those threads are drawn up to encourage the expression of evil thoughts or spread things about people you don’t like and much like other social media the anonymity breeds courage.

IMO its like a more disgusting form of reddit and just like the Meghan Markle side of quora, it puts the most depraved things on display for consumption by large and often same thinking audiences.

Regular social media is already bad but I have to say that these sites are where you find the absolute scum of the earth.
