It’s been 18 months since Shawn and Gus cracked their last case (via Psych 3: This Is Gus) and there’s still no official word from Peacock about a fourth movie. That said, franchise star/EP James Roday Rodriguez tells TVLine “there are flickers of light.”

According to the actor/auteur, a fourth Psych movie was tentatively scheduled to go into production last year. “The only reason that Psych 4 didn’t happen last year was scheduling,” Rodriguez explains. “It was all lined up, and we would’ve made an announcement, but then we just couldn’t pull it together in time with everybody going off to do [other projects]. So, now we just kind of have to regroup, wait for Peacock to decide that they want to pay for it again, and hopefully we’ll be good.”

Echoing what he told TVLine’s Matt Mitovich earlier this year, Rodriguez — who just wrapped a five-season, 87-episode run on ABC’s A Million Little Things — confirms that “The script is done. And I think [it’s] pretty fun.”

Psychosomatic | Jonathan Breech x Inpatient!Reader

“You’re a pretty one, yeah?” Jonathan said, staring at you from the driver’s side of his stolen convertible. He managed to find an empty parking lot behind a pub. The air was brisk. Your heart was beating out of your chest and his words nearly stopped it. You two just broke out of a mental institution—it was Jonathan’s idea completely. The consequences included solitary confinement and a lifetime membership at the institute. You were happy to see the outside, but you were deathly afraid of being caught.

Sensing your anxiety, he put his hand on your thigh and kneaded it gently. His palm was soft and warm. Jonathan dreamt of caressing your smooth legs every time you wore your pajama shorts. It was hard to ignore his piercing gaze when you removed that frumpy sweater once in a blue moon. You were away from prying eyes. He had you all to himself. To him, this was kismet.

Leaning in closer, he kissed your jawline. You whimpered and turned away. You were attracted to him, but all you could think about was that traumatic incident that landed you in the institution in the first place.

“What’s wrong, love?” Jonathan inquired.

“I can’t do this. I’m sorry for leading you on. I’m not meant for this sort of thing.” You admitted, tearing up.

He undid each one without looking as if he planned this. With no bra underneath, the cool air made your nipples harden. His warm hands found one of your breasts. Pulling away, Jonathan stared at you with carnal eyes.

Pumping faster, you began nibbling on his earlobe. His hand found your breast once more. You slid your hand into your shorts and began rubbing your clit. He suddenly snatched your hand away and stared at you with dark eyes.

“I’m sick of waitin’, yeah? Get in the back.” He demanded, slapping your thigh lightly. You went to follow his orders and laid on the backseat. Following behind you, he removed what was left of your clothing. You shivered at the cool autumn air. Seemingly unaffected, he teased the tip of his dick against your entrance before sliding in. You moaned loudly and arched your back. Pressing his forehead against yours, he thrusted harshly and held the back of your head. His gorgeous bore into yours.

“I…I can’t take it.” You whimpered.

“Yeah?” He teased, thrusting deeper. The burn from the unfamiliar feeling started to subside. He fucked any remaining defiance out of you.

“I’m all yours, Jon.” You moaned, tears welling up in your eyes.

He kissed you sweetly and dug his fingernails into your hips. Shockwaves of bliss were sent through your body with each movement. Your moans became screams as Jonathan rutted into you desperately. You cycled through countless orgasms before he flipped you over. Entering you once more, he pressed your face into the seat.

In your professional opinion, how many more movies will we get realistically? I know Steve was shooting for 6, but I think they're gonna do one more, MAYBE two but that would be pushing our luck... AFAIK Peacock is not exactly thriving

I personally think the fate of Psych very much depends on whatever is going to happen to streaming in general. Peacock isn't the only platform struggling in a saturated market, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few years from now, we''ll see mergers or maybe some platforms dying off completely. Who knows what will happen to the properties owned by those platforms, then. Most likely, they'll be bundled up and sold off to the highest bidder, just like the networks used to do before they all got their own streamers.

We also don't know how well the Psych movies are actually doing, or how Peacock measures the success of their original content to begin with. Psych isn't super expensive to film and produce, and there is still a loyal fanbase asking for new content. But that fanbase has become more and more quiet with each subsequent movie, and Steve and the gang have always said they'd make movies only as long as fans still want them. Maybe after Psych 4, the demand will fizzle out naturally until, in a decade or so, someone rekindles that interest. Maybe at some point, Steve buys the rights and starts producing new content via Kickstarter. Or maybe, the people at Peacock continue to support this little show that could as they have so far, and we'll continue to get a new movie ever 2 or 3 years.

You might as well try to read the answer in a crystal ball. So I did just that and asked this very legit online crystal ball if Peacock is going to produce more movies after Psych 4. Here's its prediction:
