It's been incredibly difficult to hear from Palestinians in Gaza, not to mention center their experiences and platform their voices. Because ever since Hamas violently kicked the Palestinian government out of Gaza in 2007, it's denied Palestinians the right to free speech.

(Here's Palestinian human rights activist Hamza Howidy sarcastically wondering why Hamas isn't stopping the theft of humanitarian aid when it had the power to arrest him for a social media post within 4 hours.)

I'm working on a series of posts of Palestinians to platform. I came across this thread from someone who used Snapchat to talk to people in Gaza, so I thought I'd post it here in the meantime.

I've seen videos of Palestinians talking about not being able to evacuate because "Hamas has closed all the roads," a video of a Palestinian telling the IDF that Hamas has a car blocking the Salah-al-Din road (the evacuation route) and is pointing guns at people and telling them to turn around. But even as someone searching for Palestinian voices and looking for information about this, I hadn't heard that Hamas had been killing civilians trying to evacuate. (And probably reporting their deaths as part of the daily total.)

I mean, just the fact that the Gaza Strip is run as a separate country from the rest of Palestine is a huge barrier for Palestinians. It's hard to be accepted as a full member of the UN when your country functionally has two or three different governments.

(Confusingly, the PLO is considered the government of Palestine internationally. Abbas is the president of both PLO and the Palestinian Authority, so it sort of works as long as nobody has an election. But the fact that Palestinians have been denied an election for 18+ years, because Abbas keeps cancelling elections and Hamas is Hamas, is also a pretty big fucking problem.)

But it's also true that a huge number of the people in the Gaza Strip, while obviously having a big problem with the Israeli government, have at least as big of a problem with Hamas.

And for all of our decades of talk about Free Palestine, in the progressive movement, we pay shockingly little attention to that.

the islands of inazuma always seemed to be blanketed under a shroud of purple. from its lightning to its exotic fauna, as well as the numerous electro crystals that littered its face. you couldn't help but think so, looking over the grassy hillside itto led you up.

he eventually skidded to a stop in front of a boulder, thin trees framing the edge of a cliff. sunlight poured through cracks in the foliage.

with a flourishing bow, he held out a hand for you to take.

"allow me to help you up, my dear?"

you laughed at his antics.

"very well." you said, playfully rolling your eyes. your hand fit snugly in his.

though itto knew you had no need door assistance. the boulder wasn't that big anyway, and the footholds weren't steep by any means. it's just that you also knew he needed a tiny ego boost from you every once in a while.

as your head popped up over the rock, the glare of gold caught your eye. the sky was approaching sundown, the impending twilight veiling the brilliance of gold under hues of violet and pink.

itto climbed up behind you, ready to catch you if you slip while you climbed up on top of the boulder. from his own expression, you could tell he saw yours.

"pretty cool, huh?" he puffed out his chest with pride. he'd put his chin against the warm stone, anchoring himself from falling with his arms folded in front of his head and a single foothold.

"see? told you you'd like it." the oni was basically preening. "did you doubt me?"

"hehe. no." you kissed the crown of his head. itto hummed happily. "it's beautiful."

"oh, it's nothing. just bringing the two most beautiful sights in inazuma together. no big deal. all in a day's work for the one and oni itto."

you sighed as you combed through his thick white hair, equal parts fond and exasperated.

"dork."

itto thought your smile outshone the sun. he averted his gaze from it, warmth growing on his cheeks.

This has been occupying more and more space in my brain in the recent weeks, so I figured I should try and get it out and on paper before it starts making a nest in there ^^"

What I feel about this whole thing isn't even jealousy so much as me missing the dynamic that old group had without missing the individuals who have hurt me.

Having a distinct place to "come home" to everyday, someone to talk to that you're close with at any given point in the day, people who regularly hang out with each other in any and every constellation and mutually care for each other...

I miss having that sense of belonging, and it bothers me that it has started eating away at my ability to appreciate the friendships I already have, that I do my best to maintain. It admittedly only got worse when I moved out, since this also meant I wasn't seeing my immediate family as often anymore.

I genuinenly don't know why I feel this way, or how to make it stop.

I feel awfully selfish about it, and imo my friends deserve a better version of me than that :').

A/N: This is a crack piece based on a prompt I've been talking with an anon about. If you want the context, check out the Loona's Long Nose Post tag. Hope y'all can tolerate my attempts at humor. I also decided to expand the prompt a bit and add some fluff. I know the anon originally asked for a fem reader but I ended up keeping it gender neutral.

At first, you thought nothing of it. Some new structure in the distance; it looked almost like a telephone pole. At least.. You could've sworn it was. But why did it keep getting taller?

It wasn't long until you decided to investigate. Trying to find the source was like looking for the end of a rainbow. Whatever it was, it was getting tall enough to rival the buildings of Imp City.

After a while of navigating the city, you start getting closer, zeroing in on the source of this strange phenomena. You race through the sketchy alleyways and dank tunnels. Then you turn a corner to see..

"Loona?!"

"Agh- Fuck!!"

Loona's looking up- she has to, because she needs to balance her nose- wait, that's what you've been chasing after all day?!

"How and why-"

"It's been like this all fucking day! Some dumbass kids thought it would be funny to cast a spell or some shit- ugh," She stumbles, managing to catch herself. "I'm gonna fucking kill them!" Loona screams, attempting to kick a nearby trashcan.

Unfortunately, due to the sheer fucking length of her nose, Loona lost her balance. She'd expected to hit the ground. She would've preferred to hit the ground. Instead, she has to deal with the humiliation of doing that Michael Jackson lean because her nose is propped up on a nearby building. And that only made things worse..

"What do I do," Loona groans. She stumbles back, regaining her balance with your assistance, and decides to sit with her back against the wall. She leans her head back, wincing. "Fuck, its killing my neck too. Would you uh.. mind helping me out..?"

She's hesitant, not wanting to seem selfish. Loona hasn't been used to asking for favors or being vulnerable, but you've changed that. Not to say Loona doesn't appreciate her other friends, but it's not exactly the same. Millie's usually preoccupied with Moxxie or spending more time with Blitzø. Blitzø is.. A whole other thing entirely. You're the first friend who has put in this much time, effort, and care.

She understands if you're not comfortable with initiating physical contact. Your company was already enough to start making her feel more relaxed.

"Hey.. Seems like your nose is uh.. going back to normal," you say. And it's true! Slowly but surely, at least.

"Yeah, not fast enough," Loona rolls her eyes- and sees her nose start to grow again. "Oh come on!!" 

"Wait wait wait! I think.. Maybe the spell is activated when you're upset, and deactivated when you relax.. "

"Seriously, you're just guessing that?"

"Yeah, so? We're working with limited information, here."

Loona rolls her eyes, huffing and combing her hands through her hair. "Well how do you suppose I relax with.. This," she gestures to her nose, giving you a (dare I say) bombastic side eye.

"I dunno. Let's just distract you.. Do you have music or anything? Or want to talk?"

Whatever it was, your methods worked. While Loona still had some.. Flare ups.. She's been managing to keep her nose from getting too long.

It's definitely not easy, but that's why she's glad she has you.

just finished reading the god of war novelisation (the first game) and it was Very Interesting.

it gives loads of insight into the gods, some scenes are actually from athena’s pov, which was super cool to read but the book also really drives home what a terrible person kratos really was, at least during that section of his life. I’d watched cutscenes from all of the greek saga games so obvs I already knew about how he used to be, and of course his redemption is one of the cores of the norse games so you have to assume he was pretty bad, but like… he was BAD.

he kills without pretty much zero sympathy or regard for innocent lives, in fact the only time he feels shock or horror at violence is when it’s towards children (because it makes him think of calliope). it’s mentioned a few times that he actively enjoys bloodshed and did even before he became the Fist of Ares. i’m sure there’s plenty of nuance to be explored but no matter which way you look at it the ghost of sparta was a complete tyrant

and obviously this isn’t a shocking revelation because it’s basically what the last two games have been about, I think it’s just interesting having the newest games be your introduction to the series, because you’re seeing kratos in the middle of his redemption. you’re immediately sympathetic to him and even though you’re told he’s done terrible things it’s easy to feel like he can be redeemed because you haven’t actually SEEN them. knowing just how different he was makes his whole arc a lot more impactful imo, seeing kratos be so bloodthirsty and raging makes you really appreciate the older, quieter kratos.

sorry ik this is probably very obvious to people who have played the older games as they came out, but for me, who’s intro to the series was in 2018, it’s so cool getting a proper sense of what kratos used to be like and seeing things from his pov instead of just knowing what he did. really makes me appreciate his character even more, and kind of makes me wish i’d played the og games first. but yeah i actually recommend the novelisation especially if you haven’t played the greek saga! there’s some eh bits (especially with certain female characters) and there’s a LOT of gore so skip it if you’re bad with violence, but overall it was a good read and it was super cool to get stuff from the gods pov

I don't like talking about twitter drama anywhere but I just found the funniest twitter drama I've seen and it's literally about turon (a filipino snack made up of a fried wrapped banana with glazed sugar). Here's the translated thread as I guide you to this insanity:

"I SCOLDED CASHIERS AT SM MANILA SUPERMARKET. The line to buy a turon was long and there were only a few turon left on the stand. I was in the middle of the line and there was a lot more people behind me that wanted to avail a turon."

"There were 2 cashiers that were on break or had clocked out maybe that went to the cashier of the turon stand, and I heard that they were trying to reserve 2 turon. The cashier said 'Go to the line hey' but these two insisted that they don't need to go on the queue. So my blood started boiling because I really hate getting cut off in line."

"Then the one cashier took 2 turons for the two cashiers that cut in line. One of them said 'Dat ours?' then the cashier gave the turon to the two cashiers that cut in line and were waiting at the counter to pay. So my blood boiled even more."

Additional Context:

Turon in SM is priced at PHP 25 which is relatively cheap. It's bout 0.50 USD?

More comparatively, seeing as OP looked at least middle to upper class (we'll discuss that later), it would've been easily affordable to him, but maybe a bit of a struggle for the two cashiers since they make less than the national average and are also contractual, often losing their jobs and not having any benefits.

hello, it's me again! listen, i know it's been since february that i've posted the story (or...actually really anything substantial at all...) but TADA!

there's a story queue to get going!

edit: and by get going, i mean it's already going. i forgot to post this announcement first. oops!

the queue is roughly about two weeks long and will post twice a day, as usual, at 8 and 9PM EST!
