The irony of saying #landback and “we live on stolen land” while condemning Israel’s existence is so strange.

You want land to go back to the natives - no matter how long ago the land was taken - unless it belongs to Jews. Then they can go F off.

And because you don’t have a reasonable defense for this weird combo of beliefs, you just deny the indigeneity of Jews altogether. This is something that can be proven with simple google searches and logic. Our ancient artifacts and structures are in the land, and our “origin stories” are largely about the land and us residing in it. Yet, you refuse to believe we are indigenous.

Even more funny is that you then argue Arabs are the real indigenous people to this land. Arabs are colonizers in the Middle East and North Africa. Arabic is a colonial language. They originated in the Arabian peninsula, and took over MENA countries. They had nationalist policies that largely eradicated the people and/or cultures already present in those lands. A lot of the people present were Jews, who were killed or driven out by pogroms.

Educate yourself for crying out loud.

to all those who say "Were the children who died in Gaza terrorists??!" were the victims during October 7th terrorist? Obviously not... however you have to realise that these deaths occurred for VERY different reasons, this is WAR and war is sad and difficult, but Hamas started this war, they always do, they killed for no reason other than the hatred towards innocent people, Israel however keep trying their hardest to AVOID civilian casualties whereas Hamas purposefully put the very people they are supposed to lead and protect in harms way, if they weren't as awful as they really are maybe instead of attacking a festival and kibbutz they would have only attacked an IDF base and ONLY that... but guess what? they didn't... they went after people with no way to defend themselves! and also people who weren't even Israeli... Dogs, Men, Women, Children, Elderly... no weapons... just people who wanted to dance and have fun and eat and be with family, they wanted peace and all they got was pain and fear before being mercilessly raped and murdered and tortured and burned... please people stop supporting Hamas and denying what monsters they truly are. from the bottom of my heart I feel awful for those who are going through this war, but I do not feel sorry for Hamas nor their supporters and never fucking will. change your minds before its too late. I can genuinely not get over all many pro-Palestinians are seemingly so anti-genocide, but loved October 7th, you claim innocent civilians deserve to live, but celebrate when it’s Jews that are killed, you claim the war in Gaza isn’t an eye for an eye sort of deal, and is a genocide, but claim October 7th was an act of resistance and not a genocide, you claim to be anti-genocide, yet are sad cause Hitler didn’t finish his job, you constantly cry about Gazan children, but a one year old in captivity doesn’t faze you, you claim all Israelis have it coming, but when Hamas and their helpers had it coming suddenly there innocent.

Something that is frustrating is when anti-Israel folks act like they are completely wise in the ways of how war works.

Listen, if a terrorist grouping breaks into your country, slaughters thousands and kidnaps your people, ya, you’re gonna fight back.

They’re not just bombing to destroy Gaza. If that were the case, they would’ve flattened it by October 8. Instead, they have coordinated attacks. They attack the hospitals and schools because Hamas stores weaponry and bunkers there. But I don’t see you getting on their asses for war crimes.

Stop acting like you know how war works. You probably had a grandpa in the military and it ends there. And clearly you don’t do enough research on wars.

My grandpa was a veteran, my parents are both history majors, and I have 4 teachers who are veterans and who have told us their stories of war. And so, while I may not have first hand experience, I’ve heard from multiple different sources of people on what happens in one and why militaries do what they do. But I’m not going around saying I’m an expert on war because I did a few Google searches and watched a couple of TikTok videos for my ‘research’.

Look, tell me, what do you want Israel to do in this situation? And don’t you fucking say a ceasefire because they’ve already tried that and Hamas keeps breaking them.

So what should Israel do? Just roll over and let Hamas try to kill them all? Let Hamas get away with kidnapping their citizens? Because if that’s what you think, fuck you.

But not Palestine? Not Hamas - the elected government of Gaza?

How about Russia? They bombed maternity wards and orphanages. Why aren’t the leftists demanding their war crime trial? The double standards are getting old.

Everything you complain about with Israel (if true) is exactly what Hamas and the Palestinians have been doing to them as well.

“Israel has wiped out entire families!” So did Hamas.

“Israel is bombing Gaza!” Palestine is bombing Israel (and, ironically, Gaza as well).

“An IDF soldier raped someone!” Hamas employed mass rape as a weapon of war against Israeli women.

“Israel is trying to wipe out Palestinians!” Hamas is trying to wipe out Jews.

We can keep going on this. The list goes on. Not only that, but multiple other countries have employed such tactics against their own people and other countries. Not a single cry for war crime trials.

To the Pro-Palestine people who also condemn Hamas, I’ve gotta ask..

Why don’t I ever see you guys make any posts of you actually condemning Hamas? You’ll just say “I already think Hamas is bad, so stop bringing them into the argument!” but you never actually do any work to try and find ways to free Palestinians from Hamas, the ones who’ve been oppressing them since 2007. There are videos of them shooting at civilians getting close to humanitarian aid. They’ve killed people for being LGBT. And to the people who say “Why do Palestinians grow up to hate Israel?” it’s because they’re taught as children to kill Jews and clearly from very young ages. They’re not even taught about the Holocaust. Hell, Hamas even uses child soldiers, which is a war crime. Hamas also uses hospitals for their bases, along with keeping weapons in schools and using ambulances for their military transportation, forcing Israel to attack these places. They are also using human shields, and have a history of doing this. Not to mention that they are really fucking rich, but have done nothing to actually protect their people with their money.

And this is only talking about their abuses of the citizens of Palestine and Gaza! I could make a whole other post about their abuse of Israel and the hostages!

Seriously, there needs to be more calls for the downfall of Hamas, if you really do care about the citizens of Palestine and Gaza.

It is Hamas’s responsibility to protect their civilians. And they’re doing an awful job at it.

It's been incredibly difficult to hear from Palestinians in Gaza, not to mention center their experiences and platform their voices. Because ever since Hamas violently kicked the Palestinian government out of Gaza in 2007, it's denied Palestinians the right to free speech.

(Here's Palestinian human rights activist Hamza Howidy sarcastically wondering why Hamas isn't stopping the theft of humanitarian aid when it had the power to arrest him for a social media post within 4 hours.)

I'm working on a series of posts of Palestinians to platform. I came across this thread from someone who used Snapchat to talk to people in Gaza, so I thought I'd post it here in the meantime.

I've seen videos of Palestinians talking about not being able to evacuate because "Hamas has closed all the roads," a video of a Palestinian telling the IDF that Hamas has a car blocking the Salah-al-Din road (the evacuation route) and is pointing guns at people and telling them to turn around. But even as someone searching for Palestinian voices and looking for information about this, I hadn't heard that Hamas had been killing civilians trying to evacuate. (And probably reporting their deaths as part of the daily total.)

I mean, just the fact that the Gaza Strip is run as a separate country from the rest of Palestine is a huge barrier for Palestinians. It's hard to be accepted as a full member of the UN when your country functionally has two or three different governments.

(Confusingly, the PLO is considered the government of Palestine internationally. Abbas is the president of both PLO and the Palestinian Authority, so it sort of works as long as nobody has an election. But the fact that Palestinians have been denied an election for 18+ years, because Abbas keeps cancelling elections and Hamas is Hamas, is also a pretty big fucking problem.)

But it's also true that a huge number of the people in the Gaza Strip, while obviously having a big problem with the Israeli government, have at least as big of a problem with Hamas.

And for all of our decades of talk about Free Palestine, in the progressive movement, we pay shockingly little attention to that.
