Just saw the extended animatic that was originally meant to end V9 and is now gonna get repurposed into the (possible) V10.

Let me just say, I still feel the same about the things I saw in the first animatic. I can now firmly say that Qrow has been replaced with a doppleganger same as Blake (I wonder if it's like a partial possession thing in this case where sometimes it's Qrow and sometimes it's the faker.) I hate the dumb Winter scenes about how disappointed she is that poor people aren't nice enough to her billionaire blue blooded mother in her silly little sunhat. I have no idea what the hell Raven is doing there. The 'Remember Her Message' thing is stupid because of how poorly done Ruby's message to the world actually was and what little impact Team RWBYJNOR has actually had on the world at large. And I still want to see Whitley without Willow for three point five seconds. And I'm still wondering why the presence of an army in Atlas was a sign of pure evil and was immediately seen as a horrifying threat but seeing an army in Vacuo is meant to be a sign of peace and hope.

But also, now I have more to say.

Like first of all, I'm even more confused on how Remnant managed to pull off any sort of army now that we know what remained in Vale after the Fall of Beacon got decimated. Where are they getting their army? From Mistral, where we know Leo had all the Hunters killed? Are we meant to assume that the people that showed up from Mistral are the cops Blake called on the White Fang? Or, maybe from Argus, even though we're meant to hate Cordovin and the Atlas military that was there? Second of all, this makes me even more annoyed at Winter for being like 'if my poor martyr sister could see how badly we're doing, she'd be disappointed,' Winter get realistic goals challenge 2024. Third of all, Team SSSN and CFVY made appearances and if I ever have to see Coco "based on a nazi" Adel ever again, it'll be too soon, but I still insist that it should've been just Sun, Neptune, and Velvet because none of their other teammates got enough focus in the actual show to be real characters. They could've been casually name dropped off-handedly and it would've been fine. Speaking of teams making reappearances, Neon is there, which means she didn't die in the Fall of Atlas and likely her teammates didn't either, but they had better have a full explanation in V10 for how soldiers on the field got back to the city and threw the portals, and it's weird that we saw Neon but not Flynt. Also can I just point out that "the people who were colonized by Atlas are being aggressive to innocent Atlas orphans and need to be told off" is a writing choice the writers didn't have to do, and considering all the whole history with RWBY and bigotry, I don't know why they did that. Neon and Nora had a moment though, and I was like... Ship material? Also, Tyrian and Mercury are working with the Crown, but... To be honest, if they don't scrap that in V10 (if V10 ever comes,) I'm gonna question their decision making even more, because they just did a new location with a new villain and it proved that this late in the game it's hard to set up or properly execute new threats, and if V10 ever comes out, it's a high probability that we're not ever getting a V11. So if you ask me, if they don't cut out the Crown, they're either gonna badly execute these new bads because they expect their fans to do homework to understand the main show, or they're gonna spend way too much focus on establishing them and the Mains will get sidelined again. Merc looks like a mess, though, and this would make me think a redemption arc is a-coming except that they're pressed for time like I said, so I'm not counting on it. The fact that I have to see Peter Port of all characters is also making me want to say a lot of bad words. Like I cannot emphasize enough how much I hated seeing him and his stupid face and how much I wish he'd never existed. What is this choice to not have the serious potential mentor character who had been part of Oz's inner circle come in and instead having the comic relief teacher who blathered about testosterone and flirted with an underage student be the one to break what should be devastating news that should by all rights get a lot of focus? And where the heck is Tai in all of this? Rip to Oobleck, but out of everyone from the Vale seasons, I would not have picked either of these men to bring back, I'd have brought in Tai and Glynda. It's just a bad choice. And still no sign of Maria and Pietro, so like... What the heck?

All in all, I thought before that I couldn't have less hope for the future of RWBY, but whoa buddy this extended animatic proved me wrong.

OMG Pixie! Thank you for this ask! I'm so happy you enjoy it! 💗💗💗 Originally I had no intention of Danny getting injured, there was like a vague outline of what I wanted to happen for the US Open. Then I read this lovely ask and my brain pressed delete and then I furiously wrote this. It is not edited lmao, I hope it makes sense. I'll put it under the cut, we got a little angsty too.

It was in the second round of the US Open when it happened. In Arthur Ashe Stadium at prime time. A freak accident they called it. 

It was the second set, Daniel was returning a volley and he…tripped. The ball boys had accounted for all the stray balls except one that had fallen from one of their hands. They couldn’t stop play in time and instead of allowing himself to fall into the teen trying to retrieve the ball; Daniel pivoted with the grace of a UFC fighter and landed on his side. Heavily.

He had thrown his arm out reflexively to catch himself but his momentum was too much and long story short he was sat in the hospital in a cast. 

“At least it’s a clean break.” Blake had said, trying to find any silver lining. Daniel stared morosely ahead as the news (which he requested be kept on) kept replaying the moment of the fall and him immediately clutching his arm to his chest in pain. They were praising his quick thinking and agility for not injuring the poor boy with a montage of him being led from centre court to a standing ovation overlayed.

His phone was going off uncontrollably, but he was ignoring it. Max had called Blake immediately after it happened; he saw it live watching from Italy. They’d had no information for him then, and Daniel wasn’t sure if Blake had been keeping him updated. He hoped he was.

Daniel stared ahead for an indeterminate amount of time. He was in shock. How could it have gone so so badly in so little time. He was the fucking world number one; something he’d dreamt about for ages. He was on his way to win the final grand slam of the season and now…

The cast felt heavy against his chest where it rested. He couldn’t breathe under the metaphorical weight of it. 

“I want Max.” Daniel croaked out, clearing his throat. He hadn’t spoken since checking into the hospital, letting Blake and Micheal do all the work. 

“He’s sending his plane to take us to Spain. Red Bull are getting us a consultation with a Dr Mir to— apparently he’s the best at this sort of injury.” Blake offered instead, still texting feverishly.

“At least this was the final of the year. I mean outside of the invitational…” Michael trailed off.

“Where’s my phone? I— Max.” Daniel motioned with his good hand jerkily, hissing when he jostled his cast. Blake caved and handed him the device which he took to immediately facetime his boyfriend. 

Max answered before the first ring even finished. His worried eyes filled the screen and Daniel offered a small smile in spite of himself.

“Hey.” Daniel whispered, because he all of a sudden felt overwhelmed. 

“Danny! How— how are you feeling?” Max seemed like he just jolted himself into stillness. Maybe he had been pacing.

“Can I see you?” Daniel bypassed answering, because he wasn’t feeling up to trying to put words to the tumult inside him. It wasn’t all good all ways, not by a long shot. 

Max hesitated, and Daniel felt bad immediately. It was a stupid question, Max had just arrived in Milan, this was a full race weekend. There would be no opportunity.

“Sorry— fuck. That was a dumb question.” Daniel mumbled. 

“Vicky says that Dr Mir is like on call for Moto GP guys— so he knows what he’s doing. Hopefully you can get surgery this week a–and  then I can meet you in Monaco after the race, maybe? You can stay at my place— I have a week before singapore— I can help take care of you?” He said it all in a rush, as if thinking if he gave Daniel a moment to consider or answer he’d have declined. 

This was new for them, they were still new. They didn’t really know how the other were when they were losing or hurt. 

“Ok– yeah.” Daniel replied because, of course. He wanted to see Max, needed to be held by his boyfriend right now. And if everyone trusted this Dr Mir, then he would too. He could probably ask Fabio about him, or something. 

Everything was a rush and a blur after that. Daniel slept most of the flight to Barcelona, he was in surgery within two days and on some amazing painkillers. He didn’t much remember getting to Moncao or arriving at Max’s but he’d woken out of sleep enough with a cat randomly on or by him that he knew he was there.

Max arrived Sunday night, his hair still smelled like champaign. It was the best smell Daniel smelt when Max leaned over to kiss him while he was propped up on the couch. It was clear that Blake gave him all the information over the phone because he didn’t ask anything, just made himself comfortable on Daniel’s good side and cuddled him closer, tracing the lines of the cast lightly with his finger. Outlining the rose he knew to be there.

Daniel leaned into him easily. It was a shit situation, but Max was here.

Omg! Theater camp au w/ Jaune and Blake please?

“Psst! There he is!” Whispered one of the girls. “He’s still practicing as he’s sweeping!”

Sure enough, Jaune Arc, a young man of twelve was sweeping the outside of the backdoor to the kitchen. The play this year was Dancing on the Roof, a tale Blake felt very close to once she heard of it. It was the sad story of one man struggling through poverty as his three daughters break the tradition of their once peaceful village. While, yes, it was romantic that the girls betrayed their father’s trust for their happiness, it was also tragic that he’s forced out of his home with only his wife and infant child at his side.

“Oh, Brothers, you have made so many, many people poor…” Jaune stopped his sweeping. He shook his head. “No, no. It’s poor people. You have made so many, many poor people. I realize it’s no shame to be poor.”

“He’s so dumb!” Giggled one of the girls.

“No, he’s not.” Blake said. When everyone looked at her, she flinched. “He’s… He’s just dedicated.”

“Ooh~!” One of the girls crooned. “Do you have a crush on Jaune~?”

“I do not!” Blake shouted.

“Is someone there?” Jaune called out. The girls scattered behind the corner. Suddenly, though, Blake felt herself shoved out into the open. “Oh, hi, Blake!”

“H-Hi, Jaune.” Blake said, pink in her cheeks. “What, uh… What are you doing?”

“Sweeping.” He answered. “I’m on sweeping duty this week.”

“R-Right.” Blake had sweeping last week. She tilted her head. “Don’t forget the spot behind the steps. Sometimes food falls out back there and raccoons get into the kitchen looking for more.”

“Oh, thanks!” Jaune said, turning to dig his broom into the crevice. “You’re a good person, Blake.” She smiled. “Even if you’re a little off-key sometimes.” Blake frowned.

“I am not!”

“B-But you are, though!” Jaune said from shrunken shoulders.

“When?!”

“When you sing your lines!” He answered. “You’re too low during the wedding song, and you’re too high when you sing about Holder!”

“Hodel!” Blake shouted back. “And I sing just fine!” She then stomped up and took the broom from his hands. “And I’ll prove it!” She stepped back and took a deep breath. “Okay, you start.”

“Uh, o-okay.” Jaune hated remembering his lines, and so far, nobody questioned if he knew them or not, so being put on the spot to recite them made him nervous. So nervous, he forgot them. “Uh, h-how does it start again?”

Blake sighed. “It starts with you singing, ‘Is this the little girl I carried?’.”

“Oh, right!” Jaune cleared his throat.

“Don’t do that!” Blake chided. “It’s bad for your vocal cords!”

“R-Right!” Jaune instead rubbed his throat. His voice cracked, but he started.

I-Is this the little girl I carried~?

Blake waited for a moment. She sighed. “Is this the little boy at play?” Jaune nodded.

I don’t remember getting older-

“See, you got too quiet.”

“I’m being somber!” Blake defended her mumble, making him wince.

“Uh, what’s a somber?”

“It’s-” She took a deep breath. “It means sad.”

“Oh, well, you can still be sad and have everyone hear you.”

“I can be heard just fine!” She pouted.

“Well, uh, I can’t, so try to be louder.” She shot him a glare. “Um, please?”

“Fine.” She snorted, then tried again.

I don't remember getting older~

When did they~?

"There you go!" Jaune said with a smile.

Softly, they together sang in near harmony. Near as in, sometimes Blake would drift too quietly or almost scream her lines while Jaune kept forgetting his. By the performance at the end of camp, they were so perfectly harmonious, they won "Thespians of the Summer". And it would be the best summers of their lives, especially since one of them never came back to theater camp.

Do you think ML or GR took the B&G relationship seriously when it first came out or do you think they laughed and thought no way that’s lasting?

I think it was both of their worst nightmares because it gave power to Blake and Gwen. I think GR was scared and pissed and threatened but thought Gwen would still go back to him in the end. I think ML was shocked and intimidated and angry but thought Gwen would dump Blake and she could continue to torture him. GRs first post was about always keeping your knives sharp. Creepy. ML was a bunch of strong sad victim posts and then following Gwen. Creepy.

These are all my guesses. I watched it play out live back then and it was a rollercoaster. I was on to GR but I fell for some of MLs stuff early on because I didn’t know who she was other than the country singer whose music I didn’t know married to that guy on the show Carson Daly hosted. Seriously. That was my knowledge level before I watched the second half of season six when I heard Gwen would be on in season 7. I only ever tuned in for Gwen but Blake won me over in about 4 seconds. Charming, talented, funny, handsome, and that amazing voice.

Anyway, it’s funny to me now. I really thought watching the CMAs, oh poor ML, she had no idea Blake had started dating Gwen and there she is with pink hair that looks so dumb in comparison to Gwen’s iconic looks. No wonder she’s crying. She lost her man, he’s with Gwen so she will never get him back, and she looks so stupid with that hair. It never would have occurred to me that the psycho had pink hair on purpose and cried for attention, had repeatedly cheated on Blake, etc. Shows how little I understood!

Thoughts on Volume 9? I really could've done without Jaune during that whole arc, and just let the Rusted Knight be someone from the Evr After. I want to see more of the title characters, and not a secondary protag get his metaphorical dick sucked.

I want to see more of Ruby than I do Jaune.

(Also, it was a dick move of Winter to look right at Jaune, and not help him get to safety.)

Personally, I don’t think Jaune should’ve fallen in with RWBY, and this is for a few reasons.

1. The dude gets a lot of exposure during most of the volumes, definitely feels like he’s THE main side character at this point, and this isn’t getting into the common debate on if he’s Miles’ self insert or not. It would be nice to get a break from Jaune, mostly so that both sides of the fandom can calm down about him. Also, side point to the Jaune thing, it would've been nice if he actually brought up the fact that he "had" to kill Penny (had is in quotation marks because it feels like to strong a word for what happened during that volume.) Hell, have it be part of his dialogue when he's shouting at Ruby, let that be the final straw that breaks our hero, to learn how her BFF died.

2. I really think it should have been somebody else from the main group who was forced to grow up in the Ever After. In my personal opinion it should have been either Ren, Nora, Oscar, or Emerald. Ren/Nora for arguably the same reason, Nora wanted to figure out who she is without him, and this situation is a freaking monkey law of that, either she thinks he’s dead or has been given plenty of time to find the answer to her question. If she fell in, suddenly she has all this time to find herself, let her grow as a person while also figuring out just how much she does love Ren and misses him. If Ren falls in, he now has to deal with being all alone along with his brand new semblance, seeing all the different emotions of the strange creatures around him, making this whole experience even more confusing as he has to deal with this alien culture.

Emerald because this could all be her way of trying to show that she has become a better person, her guilt over the fall of Beacon, making her guarding the paper people even more poignant since she wants to make up for who she was, not wanting to be like Cinder ever again. Like just imagine her trying to keep the paper people alive, acting a little crazy as she calls them Penny, Hazel, or Pyrrha, all people that she has either helped get killed or watched die for her, she's just trying so dang hard.

And for Oscar, this would be the first time where he’d be someplace where Oz is just as clueless as he is, the two of them being on even footing as they explore this new land. With them being in the Ever After, we can finally get a conclusion to the convoluted mess that is the whole reincarnation thing, which is a rant for another day. Also, it would be cute to see Ruby's reaction to a grown up Oscar, I'm sure it would be adorable.

With Jaune, it just feels like we're getting kind of a rehash of his arc during the fourth and fifth volume, where he's trying to process his grief and trauma, only to channel it in some pretty self destructive ways instead, until he gets better through the power of friendship. We've done this song and dance before with him.

Now for my real thoughts on the season, it had some decent ideas, just poor build up to them. Like I love the whole thing with talking to a part of themselves that they don't want to face when they go into the smoke, love that trope, but all the problems that the girls face don't feel like they were actual problems. (Mostly Blake's dumb ass thing, "Am I a person or an animal?" When has that ever been a thing for this fictional race?!) Could've done a sweet callback to Volume 2 by having them face their old dreams, Weiss becoming the head of the SDC, Yang doing this for the thrill and adventure, Blake trying to help the Faunus, Ruby becoming this fairytale hero, let these be what they have to face. Weiss, Yang, and Blake can all see how far they have grown, seeing how they have become better than those old dreams, that sort of thing. All while Ruby just gets asked "What happened to you?" or something, just another part of that is cracking under the pressure.

But yeah, most of the ideas just didn't feel they were implemented all that well. I think it's just another example of something that CRWBY could have foreshadowed better overall, heck, even just having someone reading The Rusted Knight would have been a pretty easy way of doing it, like during the montage of good deeds they do in Atlas, maybe Yang is reading to a bunch of kids or something. Would've been sweet.

Reader switches place with Gwen. Gwen still had the dreams, but she went to get their father instead of staying and waiting from them to find Finney. Also, you said “she” in your request so I made reader female, let me know if I need to change that! I might go back a fix this mess later, too.

Warnings: short (I’m still rusty), slight angst (?), mentions of dead bodies, anxiety thinking, reader asks too many questions, reader needs glasses because she couldn't recognize poor Finney, also reader a little dumb, Finny, reader, and Robin used to be a trio :(, slightly rushed ending.

“Detective Wright reported 5 bodies in the basement along with an empty grave.” A police officer filled in a newer officer.  

You were sitting against the fence to a red bricked house with the numbers “7741” with your knees to your chest. Gwen had said about 15 minutes prior to this to meet the detectives here while she finds her father.

5 bodies in the basement? Were you too late? Was this it? Did you lose your best friend? Was he one of the bodies in the basement? Or could he be the one the empty grave was for? Please let there be a chance he’s still alive.

As though as the world heard your plea, the door to the house across the street opened. A boy, looking to be around your age, reached up slightly to undo what looks like a lock on the screen door. After unlocking the screen door, he steps out, limping a little bit. You stood up from the ground, slowly stepping closer to get a better look. He looked around a bit.

The boy had brown, shaggy hair. He had on jeans and a white long sleeve shirt with blue-ish green sleeve. What was off about him was he and his clothes had dirt all over him like he bathed in nothing, but dirt.

When his eyes met yours, it was like he just froze. He looks familiar. Like you’ve seen him a thousand times.

Wait.

Oh.

Oh my gosh.

That’s Finney.

Before the realization completely set in, you found yourself sprinting across the street, stepping over the sidewalk, and finally, into the yard. Everything felt like it was in slow motion. It was like a scene out of a coming-of-age movie.

As you got to him, he stepped forward a bit, meeting you in a tight hug. With your arms wrapped around him, you let a sigh of relief. He’s alive. My best friend is alive, safe, and to an extent, unharmed.

“You’re alive.” You breathed out.

“Yeah, I guess I am.” He tightened his arms around you. He relaxed a bit, pressing a kiss to your forehead before resting his cheek on your shoulder.

The peaceful moment didn’t last long as you heard an authoritative voice shouting for officers to follow them. The rushed thuds of footsteps behind you get harsher as the detectives approach. Finney lifts his head from your shoulder,

“Basement.” He whispers just loud enough for Detective Wright and Miller to apprehend.

“Basement. Get the kids out of here.” Detective Miller commanded.

Refusing to removed his arms from around your waist, Finney situated you to face the red bricked house where the other victims were laid to rest. Two officers planted a hand on your backs to walk you and Finney to an ambulance.

Neither of you let go until you reached the ambulance. Albeit you both sat down, you were still up against each other, making you “attached to the hip”.

For the next couple of minutes, the EMT assessed Finney. Once finished, the EMT stepped back.

“Well, you don’t seem to have any injuries. Feel free to sit here for as long as you like or needed. Be safe, kids.” He patted your shoulder and walked away. After a moment of silence, you decided to break it,

“Hey, Finney, was-” You were cut off by an officer shouting.

“Behind the barrier.” You and Finney looked where the shout came in front of you. It was Gwen and their father. Mr. Blake explains he was the father of the only living victim. The officer lets them through, assuming the little girl is related to the young boy. Gwen runs to hug Finney, leaving their father behind a bit.

“I missed you so much, Finney.” Gwen mumbled into his shoulder. Finney squeezed her tighter in a silent way to say ’I miss you too’. As soon as Gwen let go, Mr. Blake embraced Finney. The father let go almost as fast as he grabbed onto his son and fell to his knees.

“I am so sorry. I’m- I’m, I’m so...I’m so sorry. Please forgive me.” His father stuttered out, begging in front of him, laying his head onto his son’s knees. You and Gwen leaned on Finney, Gwen’s head on his left shoulder, yours on his right. Finney pressed his lips to both yours and Gwen's cheeks.

A few days later, Finney was feeling up to going back to school. As you walked beside to him, you could hear whispers, talking about him. Rumors, it only took hours after he was found for them to start spreading around the school. Some people had come close to the truth, some were way off, or, like most, simply didn’t believe Finn could kill The Grabber because of how small and skinny he is.

“Hey, by the way, what were you going to say before dad and Gwen showed up?” You glanced at him, still walking beside him. A pang of sadness pierces your heart as you recalled what you were about to ask. You took a deep breath.

“I was hoping Robin was alive.” You paused for a second. “To be a trio again.” Finn nodded his head, opting not to say anymore. Finny looked to the left of the hallway where his bullies stand, a wave of relief runs though him once he realizes they won’t be bothering him anytime soon.

Reaching your shared classroom, Finny bids you a goodbye, heading straight to Donna’s table. She looks up from the desk with a smile,

“HI, Finny,” Donna opens her folder for class. Finny looks at her.

“Call me Finn.” He says with a smile.

RWBY Saints of Remnant Notes: Adam Taurus, Surrogate Brother, Liberator, and former slave worker

WARNING: This post contains is a radically reimagined Adam Taurus in a positive light in a heavily reimagined RWBY AU and has cliche and a ship that may turn you off due to Canon, if Canon Adam has given you a permanent bad taste in your mouth, I understand, this is an AU, just please do not come in with bad faith and ignore me instead.

Now following my altered Jack Schnee is Adam Taurus

Now given the whole grievances the RWDE tag as made about him, and looking back on him myself, I'd had figured there were two options for him, at least in my opinion

Either make him anti-villain or initial antagonist turned ally, which I have chosen for the latter. Either way, I threw out him being Blake's ex because I honestly thought it was kinda dumb and melodramatic.

Though FRWBY as I heard has done a good job tweaking that to make it work as well as Adam as a villain.

But I chose to go for something else, Adam being something of a surrogate older brother for Blake instead.

For this specific backstory, Adam is from Mistral, from a small village led by his father, a respectable Huntsman.

Now I'm trying to figure it out but with my Altered SDC and Jacques post, Arthur Gray(Watts) megacorporation GigaWatts Incorporated has outsorced work, and much like the SDC in Canon!RWBY Adam's family worked at one of their factories in the East under poor working conditions which claimed the life of his parents.

Adam much like his Canon counterpart, also worked pretty much as a slave, and his eye injury I chasing between either branding or a factory accident.

Now this draws on Fritz Lang's Metropolis which I feel like doesn't get enough love, and I will use this clip along with Metropolis when I get to post about the not-so-good doctor, his mega-corporation, and the current state of Atlas later.

But basically, Adam was emotionally drained at that point. A zombie of a young man who felt hopeless.

One day in his younger days The White Fang's Eastern Branch attacks the factories. And the one leading the charge was the current White Fang leader, a spider Faunus by the name of Rina Kumokage(first name a placeholder) and her second-in-command Sienna Kahn. Seeing them in action reinvigorated and inspired him and joined them instantly when the two offered a hand.

However, this wouldn't be the liberation that he thought it was, at least not entirely.

Rina's leadership was questionable over in the East while the other branches of the other three corners were busy, Rina seemed to be driven more by politics than the morals of common decency, and had abusive tendencies towards Adam and later on Blake whom she also took under her personal tutelage due to knowing her late father Kuroto(aka Ghira) who was a high ranking member of the White Fang.

But it wasn't all bad, for while Kumokage was a cruel teacher, Kahn on the other hand was the closest thing he had for a mother after losing his parents, and she herself was often downplayed by the current WF leader.

Soon Adam began to realize Rina saw the White Fang as a means for political power, a demagogue exploiting a legitimate cause for mercenary motives. But he wished for no outside help, for reasons I am trying to figure out, but partially the same reasons for Blake of being introverted, not to hurt those close to him.

Now for his allusion, there's always been the argument he was the beast and Blake was the Beauty

But after remembering an analysis post I can't remember where on Tumblr I figured

What if Blake and Adam were both the Beast? like a collective allusion? Which is based on my RWBY collective allusions theory but that's another post for another day.

Adam's individual allusion however is not the Bull Demon King, but Red Boy, with his late parents being The Bull Demon King(his Father) and Princess Iron Fan(his mother), both of their lessons sticking to him. So unlike his canon counterpart while his sanity may had been bent, it wasn't broken.

Now Sun in this AU is the 'Beauty' to Blake's 'Beast' and as for Adam, the ‘Beauty’ to his ‘Beast’ is and hear me out here...

Yang Xiao Long

now I know what you all are thinking...

But here's the idea

Adam as a good guy I would imagine being this grumpy kinda no-nonsense dude and something of a ham(he writes poems in his downtime) and I feel like that would compliment Yang's 'flirty party girl' personality and would play off Black Sun too

Two ships that are similar, yet different, and I just don't mean in a gender bent way.

But not only that, Yang’s role is also to mend the strained brother-sister relationship of Blake and Adam. Adam isn’t obsessed with Blake but was kinda like “Blake, what the hell?” When she left. He’s kinda pissed, but not a flat-out murderous lunatic.

And Yang being an older sibling herself can relate to Adam and talk it out with him, notably all the good things Blake has told Yang about him.

And then of course Yang does try to resort to some spicy flirting, but Adam being taught about earning the blessings of the parents and abstinence, doesn’t reciprocate the same way.

Spoiler alert, Adam is flustered by Yang’s midriff but also know it’s not good for practical purposes in her line of work. Yang notices and tries to tease him further, only for him to tickle her mercilessly to make his point, leading her to make a wardrobe upgrade for “V2”

And I’d be lying if my this was not somewhat influenced by my Catholic faith about modesty and no sex outside of marriage, but I’d think it be kinda cute and funny to ship Yang who’s flirtatious and likes to flaunt it with a very honorable and kinda traditional dude. Expect lots of disappointed pouts from Yang.

Now his altered personality I was inspired by 2 sources

Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender

But also Grimlock in Transformers: Fall of Cyberton which the game is also an influence for my reimagined Arthur Watts

For those not in the know-how, Fall of Cybertron due to it success had become the reboot basis for all G1-esque Transformers stories onward.

In it, Grimlock is the commander of the team and had been captured by Shockwave, who is a scientist, to be painfully experimented on which would turn them into Dinobots. Grimlock, driven by furious vengeance free's his comrades and seeks to destroy Shockwave.

Now Grimlock is still a good guy and believes defending the weak and migh-for-right, but he's bad tempered, stubborn, and headstrong really doesn't see eye-to-eye with Optimus Prime, seeing him as a weak leader and barely accepting him as leader due to the Matrix.

So it's kind of the same principle with Adam, with Watts being the 'Shockwave' to his 'Grimlock', though to be specific, Adam has a vendetta against the one running the factory he and his family worked at. Will get to him in the future.

So yeah, that's my Adam so far.

Alph drew a grin onto their face. “Y’know, usually, a ‘hi’ does just fine.”

Blake—if Alph remembered correctly—swung a fist that connected with Alph’s chin.

“Answer the fucking question!”

“‘Lil something called friendship. I know, very hard concept⸺”

Blake kicked Alph in the chest, crouching down to pick them up with a fistful of T-shirt. “You know full well how ridiculous it is that Raijin picked you up instead of the guy we ACTUALLY WANTED.”

“Lucky guess,” Alph said with a still-wide smile.

“You’re, you’re fucking average. We wouldn’t have sent all hell raining on your building if all we wanted was you.”

“Oh no, my poor feelings.”

Blake dropped Alph onto the floor, taking a deep breath. “God damn it. He was the only one we could reasonably convince! The rest of you don’t belong to reason, you just blindly follow Cinder because you’re told to.”

Alph pushed themselves up, metal binders proving just as difficult as always to do anything in. They’d slowly been whittling away at them.

“Of course you have nothing to say about it. You’re the, the what? The child of a psychopathic monster sending people to one of the many things Storm is trying to abolish? What do you care?”

Alph wasn’t dumb enough to fall into the trap, however convincing the idea was. It was just too quick of a solution. No plans for what happens after. “For one, you could offer safer working environments. Only thing I’ve experienced from Storm so far is a bucket full of violence.”

Blake clenched a fist, glaring over at Alph.

“Also, you could learn where to put your thumb when you prepare for punches.”

“You have no fucking idea what Storm has lost.”

“No, I don’t think you do.” Alph stretched, arms relaxing almost as straight as they had been before. These must have been an older style because there wasn’t any wrist movement. Their nerves were on fire from lack of movement.

“I plenty understand Storm’s lost one of their best EKs. Do you comprehend that?”

“Nobody told me about that one.”

“Really? Last I knew, your little joke got him captured because he was too busy having fun to realize he was up against the real threat!”

Alph’s smile got wider. “Sounds like Urb.”

Blake’s heel dug further into the ground as he went to bite at his thumb.

“That all you had to say? For all your claims that he’s the only one you could possibly convince, if you hadn’t started off with violence I’m pretty damn sure I woulda ditched my mum already.” Alph chuckled. “Though, I don’t think putting anyone in hand binders is a good way of saying you want to be friends.”

He stopped, turning back to the door. “What the hell would you know?”

“I’ve seen a kid unable to open a door in a rehab clinic before. That work?”

Blake was silent for a few moments before walking out, the heavy crash of the door reverberating in the resounding silence.

The joke / take / argument about "The Cishets dudes did it again ahh"

Well hello.

As always I make another appearance since I have inspiration to write about the topic of the day. In this case I want to start with a post that I found a long time ago and a recent one, these posts are for reference so I can talk a little about the topic of this post.

Well let's start with the first case:

Well in the "deep context" is the same discourse about the "Canonical designs vs Fanon or "Fix" redesigns about the cast, in this case the "individual" aimed about how the "Cishetdudes" have an inclination or "preference" about some archetypes of some "redesigns" of Yang.

... So, me being a "Cishet dude"... should I consider this "archetype" of "redesign" like a pander for me?

... What the fuck?

No . "Where the fuck i should find these "appeal?"

My dear and honorable reader, I know that people make fun of stupid people, however I would like to point out and ask how these individuals have to think that everything bad about "redesigns" being stupid, poor quality and etc. This fandom necessarily tends to say that "The Cishets Guys ...". Although in the case of those 2 individuals who said "looks better" we can leave it in a statement or make fun of the post by saying it ironically.

But anyway, If you ask me about the designs, I think that any canonical or fanon outfit is fine for me (I don't see myself as very demanding)

With this I want to point out what the Fandom is like; especially with the toxic part of the "female fanbase community" tends to be "toxic and prejudiced" when it comes to Yang's redesigns for pointing out an Oversexualization in those designs ( + the "imaginative addition" of believing that the characters' clothing was equivalent to their sexuality... [taking into account the part where she grabs the flag in that fanart]).

As the "first post/case" makes me think of this tendency of using the same phrase, to say a questionable take or make some "rant".

In the next post that will be presented below:

The author begins by making a mockery of those who make a “Yang x Self Insert” being a reference to the drama “Ships with Yang x Male”.

Although the author insisted (subsequently) that "her publication is not intended to prevent people from shipping any Yang x Male".

The thing is that you immediately think that this is associated with the "Ships between Yang x Male" (regardless of whether the male characters are OC or Canonical)

And within the context (that I understand) it is about how some Fanfics, Fanarts, etc. have existed. That they have always been accused of being cringe and disrespectful. In fanfics: Because of how "Gary Stue" the character is and how poorly they write the characters (especially Yang). In the Fanarts: If it is OC/Canon character it may be because it is a "generic design", as well as how they are represented in said arts.

Thanks to the amount of this "junk content" in this category of Ships, this is how the community has come to imposingly generalize all material that comes from this category (Yang x Male [OC/Canon Character]).

So this category has already become tainted due to its junk content. With this, prejudices and stereotypes for that category are created by the fandom.

But well, anyway. That drama is already so "marked" and "symbolic" that it was honestly no surprise that people made the kind of comments that one would already be imagining… Oh yes:

"PLEAZ, LeT YIkes AL0ne."

One thing is that the author makes fun of "Yang x Male" (especially in the trash stories) and that comments automatically appear for her that say: "Keep cishet men away from her (yang).

Which is barely left as "a post making fun of "Yang x Male (due to the issue of poor quality fanfics)" But the question now is that she gived "like" to those comments.

(Sorry... I have the interface in Spanish)

Which makes the skepticism notable and even more so taking into account that in her words:

Although, one can agree regarding the need to improve the standards of "M/F Ships fanfics/fanarts and the redesigns of Yang". But the question is when people doubt about the intentions behind "that joke." And this doesn't "help at all" seeing that she gives "likes" those types of comments.

And the problem is that it can be implied that she complements the message of her post with the comments that she liked (taking into account that those comments were written in her same post)

This question and doubt about their intentions arises due to how the fandom is earning this reputation of "Hating Cishet dudes", since it seems its the same about how they called out the "Cishet dudes" who criticize the series but also to the fans of those ships (due to the "profile "from those who make those poor quality Ships)

Coming to imply that any content, criticism, Ship, Fanfic, Au, HeadCanon, and much material that encompasses "FanWork" is destined to be of poor quality, offensive, repetitive, and disgusting, as long as the creator is a "CisHet Dude."

And all this "fame" of prejudice is sustained thanks to a minority of users who end up "favoring" that image of the "CisHet Dude of the fandom" that has been created in the fandom, adding to how they are used so that the fandom can affirm and sustain said prejudices based on the activity of said users.

At this point the jokes or arguments of "Cishet types are like/are like:" are being used noticeably and repetitive way. which regardless of whether they use it as a "phrase", "mockery", "joke", etc. They may unconsciously or discreetly make it clear to the rest of the fandom members about their true mentality.

AND NOT. I am not pointing to narratives of "Male Oppressed" and those mental gymnastics stuff, because it is stupid to reduce the intention of my post to this… so I emphasize: "This topic is about RWBY fans using this phrase and always ending up with questionable comments that make you wonder if they are "/j" or if there is "a double intention."

But hey, at least if you are a "Cishet dude" you will already have the idea that you are not welcome in this fandom almost full of misandrists.

But at least you know that I don't judge you :)

Bonus:

Literally when i see these kinds of posts like: "cYzHeTS SaYiNG / CriTIZNG ...", that makes me think that now they are ironically assuming that my 2 dear (female) friends who watch the series are men... I mean, for them it seems only the "CisStraight Men" criticize:

"The Girl Who let her little sister drink that tea because her sister wasn't her neko girlfriend"

"The character with cat ears who has everything at her favor"

In conclusion:

What is it about Jaune that makes you like him? /gen

i know a lot of what im about to say can be boiled down to "hes miles self-insert" but like. as a certified Miles-Hater thats so dumb to judge a writers fav character (i dont think jaune is even miles character) or the character they heavily base around their own experiences on the feelings you have for the writer. many MANY writers far better than miles luna have based characters on themselves-- which is what jaune is btw a self-insert/mary-sue is ENTIRELY different-- anyways

you see, something that made weiss and pyrrha (and somewhat blake) in vol 1-3 many peoples fav characters, including me, was that they had functional character arcs. pyrrhas was far more deep and interesting than weiss' (bc the writers were scared to actually tackling unlearning racism) but functionally: weiss started off as an uppity racist bitch that was entitled and self-important, and by the end of vol 3 she had not only learned to summon, but also did it in protection of a faunus-- regardless of the quality of writing, this was a perfectly acceptable story arc during vol1-3 era that made weiss a standout. pyrrha went from a sort of empty mentor shell character to somebody that the audience understood to struggle with her identity, her destiny, her talents and lack of agency, coupled with this idea that she might be forever changed should she take on the burden of her destiny... and then she kissed jaune and took on cinder solo (meaning that if she was rescued [meaning she escapes the stigma of being the unbeatable girl, thus escaping her destiny] or somehow won, she could return to jaune [thus gaining the joy she was always afraid she would never have] OR she would die [again, escaping her destiny]

you see, people LIKE character development and that is in woeful short supply in RWBY. but jaune is constantly changing, while other characters remain static for massive bouts of time (ren, weiss, yang) or repeat the same character arcs again and again (ruby, nora) and while hes changing, its always for the benefit of others

jaune starts off as a doofus cringelord that throws up on the ship to beacon. hes a liar, getting his hands on fake transcripts (ive always wanted to know how the hell he did that), hes a poor student (like everyone else tbf) and he struggles to fight. hes unprepared, and he struggles with leadership, like ruby! where ruby had to deal with internal team struggles (blake v weiss and weiss v ruby), jaune struggles with external factors (his own backstory and cardins bullying)

ive seen Certain Individuals say they hate jaune because hes mean to pyrrha when she offered to help him but like. isnt that the point of character arcs and development? jaune started off as thinking he had to shoulder the burden of what cardin was doing to him (which btw was physically bullying and mental exhaustion, he was doing the burden of five people and in the meantime was being physically harmed) as well as the guilt of his own backstory (failing to live up to a huntsman legacy [which GOD why havent they come back to this at all] and his lies.) and by the end of it, off the advice of ruby, he fights back to protect his team and DEVELOPS into someone that willingly and genuinely apologizes to pyrrha and asks if she would still be okay with training him. its genuinely good development for both of them!

jaune continues to change post pyrrha. he honors her by incorporating her armor into his own, carrying her silently alongside them, while also keeping up his training because he knows that the best way to honor pyrrha is to keep up the fight, to protect their friends, to make sure she didnt die in vain. hes ALWAYS supported ruby from the very beginning, following her, supporting his teammates

im not going to pretend jaunes flawless or faultless. especially in vol 4-6 where a LOOOOOOOT of writing flaws and character issues crop up for me, in all characters including jaune. i hate the way they all blame Oz/Oscar, i hate his stupid plan to steal an atlas airship (cordovin literally offered to escort weiss just have her claim oscar as a servant boy and have qrow go along as her pet bird, have her go to atlas with oscar and qrow with the lamp and then ironwood would have given cordo orders to have everyone else shipped out GOD), i hate the way they all just SIT AROUND at haven, i hate the way they all act like qrow turning into a bird is some fucked up thing, yadda yadda yadda. the fight at haven is bad and ugly and he (like everyone) fights like an absolute ding dong but OUGH his semblance...

listen one thing about me? i love paladins. love healers. im a support main, i play clerics and bards, i LOVE paladins. theres something really great to me that his aura was set up from the very beginning as something he had a lot of and now his semblance is literally giving that away to his friends, literally giving his SOUL to others to heal and boost and protect. that's genuinely so beautiful to me. its not only a wonderful semblance that has really good utility and synergy (regardless that he only seems to use it with ren) but its wonderful that it heals, because thats the first thing he found out aura can actually do; pyrrha unlocked his aura to HEAL him. and he struggled for so long with the fact that he couldnt help pyrrha because he didnt know how but now? his literal super power is to help others. (i mean. not that the writers use it to great effect but still. the potential is there)

and then the atlas arc starts and man this is some of my favorite jaune era because a lot of what i like is background details! i ADORE his friendship with marrow, i truly wish more characters got to make friends with the characters in atlas (give me blake/neon NOW!!!!!!!!! give me weiss/flynt NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! double date!!!!!!!!) guard dogs is literally one of my top five ships (i also adore marrow to death and back so its a no brainer) i like that he actually steps up to do huntsmanning work that isnt glorious or battling, even if at first hes a little disappointed and then!!! it literally comes back around in the finale episodes!!!! it showed that even seemingly silly tasks like escorting kindergarteners to school and back can be utilized in the right situation, bc hunting in atlas isnt just about fighting monsters, its about taking care of the people, from evacuation procedures to literally escorting children. i loved it and it felt really satisfying to watch (even if it did make me judge literally everyone else like what now suddenly you dont care about the civilians in mantle?)

and also, this entire time, its been wonderful to see jaune slowly build up his arsenal and his fighting skills. ill admit, some of my fondness from jaune comes from my own headcanons regarding his legacy and such but tbh the fact that only some of my enjoyment comes from my headcanons and not literally all my enjoyment (like most characters) is an improvement. but also, its just ingrained in my media to want to root for the underdog, the clumsy bad fighter that gets cooler and cooler, thats the appeal of the literal Heroes Journey (sora, noctis, link, jaune; all swordfighters, all either knight/royalty coded, all went on the heroes journey, all some of my favorite characters... coincidence? i think not!)

im not really going to speak on vol9 too much because its a lot and its unfinished rn and i dont know how this series arc is going to end for him so i cant make an informed sort of conclusion but i think hes very in character as a naturally continuation of his character before the time in the EA that was put through the Horrors for a couple dozen years. it makes my heart Ache

anyways this was already a lot. basically, i like jaune because he feels like a genuine paladin and feels like what a huntsman should be like. one of my biggest complaint that is specific to him and not a series wide issue with writing is i wish his designs were better? im loving the rusted knight look with the full armor and the longer hair and i hope that he keeps the ponytail (if he survived vol9). hes a genuinely good friend who ive never questioned whether he actually would be a good huntsman (as ive questioned with literally everyone else of the main cast except ruby) or if he even wants to be there at all! he has his own motivations to be in this fight beyond just following ruby and he actively gets better throughout the show (unlike rwby, who all started off goated and then have had to be nerfed through the show). i think he had a lot of potential that was wasted but i think hes genuinely one of the better characters we've gotten as a main staple of the show and hes been there since the beginning!

i hope this answered your question! i could literally go on for hours (it took me an hour to respond to this alone) so if you have specific scenarios you want me to break down i can totally gush about jaune, or my headcanons (for example i have a hc that he has a drag persona named Matre Domme, a play on matyrdom (bc joan of arc) as well as being french for Master Domme bc of course jaunes experience with feminity and what he would explore through drag is rooted in strong dominate women)

People really out there acting like the lackluster queer rep isn't tied to the fact that RT is a bigoted piece of shit company huh. Fucking wild lol.

Also really funny how they ignored the fact that you've talked about and reblogged posts about that RT being a bigoted, abusive piece of shit company. What, are you not allowed to talk about one of the multiple ways RT sucks when she's already covered all of the other crap they've done several times over? Do you need a disclaimer on every post that goes over all of RT's crimes?

Actually maybe we're onto something! Maybe you could add a long list of RT's crimes to every post so no one who reads them can escape from being reminded that RT is a vile, morally-bankrupt company that only cares about taking your money. :D Just really rub in that guilt for anyone who's even remotely defending anything RT does!

People will do whatever they can to pretend that 'RT' and 'CRWBY' have absolutely no overlap and that 'RT' and 'RT Higher Ups' has nothing to do with 'RWBY.' Why? Because they personally can't justify supporting RT in any way, they can't justify watching RT made stuff without being critical of it, and they can't justify enjoying something made by and influenced by RT. So they have to pretend that RWBY somewhere is entirely separate and entirely pure and entirely above criticism and that CRWBY is entirely wholly 'Not a part of RT' and that RWBY being on Crunchyroll is proof that watching RWBY doesn't help RT or bad business practices in any way. (btw I personally don't believe that watching or liking RWBY is bad, it's not the exact same thing as Harry Potter, I think talking about and liking RWBY is perfectly fine just so long as you acknowledge that it isn't perfect and are willing to critically analyze it as part of Rooster Teeth.)

And it's really funny because every time I'm like "what about the existence of Miles Luna" every so called progressive anti-rwde RWBY loving fan suddenly just be like

Somehow, me calling out Miles Luna or pointing out how he was the head of animation at Rooster Teeth - aka, a RT Higher Up - for literal years, is something that they just never happen to see, so they can go on pretending that RWBY and RT don't overlap at all.

These people will say I'm being biphobic for pointing out the difference between coding and confirmation despite being a bisexual woman with tons of queer ships who writes queer fanfictions where I make ninety percent of my favorite characters including Blake and Yang openly and unapologetically bisexual and despite the fact that I'm actually actively pushing for more and better queer confirmation... And then when I say "hey by the way remember how Miles Luna told a 'funny' story about how his drunk girlfriend was making out with a friend and he and other guys stood around oogling it because it was just so hot that it made them super turned on and then went on to say that he wasn't threatened by it like he would be if they were men because women didn't have what he had?' They just shut their eyes and put their hands over their ears going "la la la la la" and never once condemn that or even acknowledge it and then will turn around and post on their own blog about how rwde posters are bullying poor helpless progressive Miles Luna for being brave enough to have two women hold hands and look at each other long enough to make fans feel like they might kiss next season.

These people will say that rwde posters are secretly misogynists for saying we want Jaune to be less involved in the show and then when I'm like "hey, do you guys remember when Miles made tweets calling Tifa Lockhart a prostitute for wearing clothes he said were 'somethin' else' and do you remember when he made a youtube video called 'video games for your girlfriends' where he basically said women were too dumb to play hard video games but if you tricked her into thinking she was doing okay at a simple one, maybe she'd jerk you off? And do you remember when people posted pictures of him happily lounging with a body pillow of a then sixteen year old Ruby with the caption 'careful miles, she's still only sixteen' and I think he liked the tweet instead of being like 'what the fuck?' And also I don't know much about it but he apparently made a podccast called 'Fan Service' with Gray Haddock and that doesn't sound super feminist" And they once again just ignore me completely and pretend they didn't see that part of my post and then turn around and be like "well my latest interaction with RWDE has proven that they DOUBLY hate women because they HATE the guy who made the pixels that are named Ruby Rose look like a woman!"

These people will tell me that I don't care enough about RT's controversies and bigotry despite the fact that I've talked about it over and over and reblogged other blogs talking about it over and over (including a post where I told people to be careful to not harass random voice actors and animators demanding answers because the problem was clearly people who were higher up) because I don't post about it all the time without ever mentioning RWBY again (wonder why they want that -_-) but then when I'm like "Hey guys, remember the fact that Miles Luna the person who helped create RWBY and has been like one of the lead writers since RWBY's creation was also a literal Rooster Teeth higher up who was head of animation for years AKA a Rooster Teeth Higher Up," they again just fucking ignore that. And then turn around and post about how RWDE posters don't care enough about animators somehow and how we're being mean to the poor defenseless indefinable 'crwby.'

Anti-rwdes do not give a shit about misogyny, they do not give a shit about queer representation, they do not give a shit about the endless controversies of RT, they do not give a shit about examining the content made by horrible people, they do not give a shit about making sure bigots don't get platformed, they do not give a shit about even acknowledging things that are problematic. RWBY E5 - The Parfait Predicament

Holy shit we are halfway through the volume! 

Weird I can see some concept art in the intro when I hover my cursor over it but not on the screen. Its all green and swirly with Ruby looking at it.

Wow Ruby fucking just booked it out of there, but CC is back to being chill, and apparently they share a gut reaction with Alyx. 

Little comforting Ruby was cute and I love the cast using Ruby like a structure or furniture, and Ruby enabling Yang’s posing XD 

Interesting, OK so when things wear out or lose their way they return to the Ever After, CC granting some of their heart seems to be bolster the figure emotionally, hence the Prince calming down and Herb realizing they lost their way. Then you reincarnate, which also explains why CC was so casual about Oz’s reincarnation and how dumb they find the one’s who made it. Though despite that the concept of dearth is understood. 

Dammit CC stop teasing us X3

OK so more or less what was speculated by the lines about the Prince save he didn’t go to Herb, he was just so broken up by losing to Alxys’s cheating he reincarnated as someone who would always win. Also CC mocking exposition and also highlighting how they are making it visually interesting with their antics is so meta.

Um, sorry to bother you but...I'm confused. Hear me out.

After watching RWBY Volume 9 Chapter 7, I was asked my opinion on Ruby's breakdown and I said "Dude, the girl's stressed out since she saw her school fell, her friends/schoolmates/loved ones get hurt or die. And she's been bottling it all up since. It's understandable that she would snap now."

But apparently to many, many, many folks out there, my opinion fell on deaf ears and they were pretty vicious about how they felt.

"It fell flat because it was all self-inflicted. She's there leader, she should've known better.

Or

"That brat's just shifting blame. Boohoo, reality is catching up to her. Grow up. This show might as well be called Dumb Brat Ruins Everything because she can't accept reality."

Or

"Ruby was a selfish and ungrateful twerp since coming to Atlas. Everybody's feelings matter more than hers. Who cares if she's going through shit now? Kids like her never understand pressure."

Or

"So not only is she selfish and irresponsible but she's also homophobic? Sheesh. Talk about terribly written protagonist."

Or

"You're supposed to be a beacon of hope. Stop crying and get over yourself, dumb bitch. This is why you're trash."

Um, WTF? Are these people seriously painting Ruby as some kind of irredeemable jackass who just goes around causing trouble?

Funny enough, nobody talks about how Jaune wasn't exactly in the right to blame Ruby either. Instead they make him look like some saintly, pure, innocent angel who got poisoned by Ruby's "selfish bullshit".

And these are the same people who think that Blake is worse than Adam because she was acting coldly towards Sun in Volume 4. Or how Jacques was just some poor, stressed out business man who has a useless wife and selfish kids who hated and abandoned him for nothing.

If people are that tone deaf then I'm gonna be honest with you Anon, leave them, don't even bother trying to argue reasonable points because of they think that Adam and Jacques of all people are in the right and Ruby is in the wrong then there's nothing you can say to them because it will just go in one ear and out the other
